Brought my family here yesterday while they were visiting from NY for lunch. They wanted some good italian food, this was the first place i thought we should go. Everyone loves it, this place has very good italian food!

Best pizza I've had in a long time. Being from trenton new jersey I know what a real tomato pie should taste like...They nailed it. Awesome job. Will be back!

I just stopped in for lunch and wasn't expecting much. The Cesar salad was good and a good size. I also got the spaghetti which is really good and comes with fresh cherry tomatoes in the sauce. The salad, spaghetti, a drink, and bread was $7.42. I will be returning.

Great Italian pizza and sub shop. House made Fettuccine are amazing and the Bolognese sauce reminds me of my mom's and Nonna's. Pizzas are very good, try G's Favorite. Also have great salads and subs. Not a fan of the house chips, but everything else I have had has been excellent. This has become my go-to place. BYOB, and there's a liquor store a couple stores down.

Everything I've gotten here has been pretty tasty. They have a deal on Monday's for a $7 large cheese pizza and you can't beat that. I've mainly had the pizza and the subs and they've been great. Haven't ventured into the pasta dishes but I assume they're tasty too!

Get the pizza if you go, AVOID the rest. While the gnocchi seemed homemade and was nice but the sauce was SO SALTY we could not eat it. I had one piece he had one piece then we push the dish away. The Meatball and Cheese was 4 ounces of poor quality meatball on 10" of ciabatta with Campbel's tomato soup on it. If there was cheese on it, it was forgettable. The service is drop and run, so there is no one to ask if you need or like anything.

Bottom Line: Great food and service makes Spizzico worth returning to, but opt for take out to avoid potentially bizarre in-dining experience. Here is what I think makes Spizzico's worthwhile: - Delicious pizza! They have slices but a whole fresh pie is the way to go in my opinion because even the leftovers will be good. - Great interior. I appreciate the Artic entry and that cold air does swing into the dining room. All of the tile work makes for a clean and contemporary feel. - They are open on Sundays (unlike some other places in that strip that are closed) - Staff is super friendly. I liked the warm greeting I got and I appreciated that another guy made several trips by the table to check on us. - There are plenty of menu options - Food was good. Greek Salad ingredients were fresh. I also enjoyed the calzone although my sister felt like it was a little heavy on the ricotta for her liking. - Restaurant was clean and nicely updated. - Diet Coke fountain drinks always make me happy. Here is where it got weird on one of my visits: - They were playing the weirdest music and I don't even know what genre it was - Italian rap maybe? If there is such a thing . . . Another customer complained (in a really unfriendly way about it) so they did immediately turn it off but then I just felt bad for young employee that had to deal with such a rude customer. If the customer didn't like the music clearly he could have expressed it in a kinder way and received the same outcome. Hopefully the tip I left made that young guy feel better about his work day and the rude customer encounter. - It was really slow when I was there so several kitchen employees were sitting at the booth watching a soccer or football game on a phone or tablet. The game was in a foreign language so I couldn't tell what the game was but the "stadium noise" coming from the booth was worse than the odd music. I guess if you go to a sports bar that is the noise you expect, but for a dining experience, I was hoping for something better than low-quality audio in a foreign language blaring at me.

This place has great food and great prices. Everything we have had here has been delicious!!!

Stopped in for carry out pasta for my wife and she enjoyed her baked ziti and house salad. She is looking forward to finishing it tomorrow. I ordered something new - their calzone. I have to say it was not what I expected and it wasn't good. The crust was tasty and nicely done, but the thing was packed with a whole carton of ricotta cheese and -oh by the way - a few pepperoni and mushrooms. I did not realize this was a tomato sauceless preparation, but the ricotta ratio was just way to much. In the dumpster with it. Darn. What else is there to eat??

yep, lot's of folks don't seems to like the pizza there....oh, well, order your papa john or hut , and please don't go back there.... Music is Italian, sorry but it is an Italian restaurant, so no rap or Chinese music Pizza is as good as it gets, house salad is incredible, the dishes are huge and delicious. I went there maybe 15 times and I never had a bad interaction with the folks there. The staff may not be as educated as many of the reviewers would like, but, like I said, if you don't like it, take your buz some place else.

I'm not sure why this place only has 3 stars. The pizza is the best in town (ny style coming for a ny transplant. Best deep dish is Rocco's). The pasta dishes have been nice. The sandwiches are nice (the veggie is a delicious vegetarian option). The waits aren't bad at all for takeout. There is a lot to like and judging by the business they do, more people agree with me than the naysayers here on yelp. The guys at the counter are really friendly when you go in. I'm a fan of Squisitos also, but this is closer to my house and the food is just as delicious or better.

Horrible experience . My chips came out cold . I informed the waiter . He says " well we made them yesterday " . I thought he was joking yet he wasn't . Tall bald manager came over and didn't even offer me a fresh batch. They're potatoes for gods sake ! How expensive can they be . Terrible food , even worse customer service . Tall bald guy shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Place is a joke . Hopefully they close soon as we don't need their business in cape .

There are a lot of 'order at the counter and sit and ear' Italian restaurants in the Annapolis area. Spizzico is the only really authentic one with really good food. The atmosphere is nice with upholstered booths, tile floor , and comfortable tables and chairs. The staff is friendly, the service efficient, and the food is really good. New York City Little Italy good. Gnocchi is made in house and light and airy. The penne pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe is 1st rate. Pizzas with homemade crust, fresh mozzarella are very good. A great neighborhood place and a great value.

Been here a bunch of times and haven't had anything that wasn't good. Uses the fast casual format (order, give you a number, bring food to you by number.) They are also BYOB which makes it cost effective (They are in the same strip mall as a liquor store if you forget.) Their house made vinaigrette salad dressing, sausage and fettuccini are all especially good. If it's your first time there try the Fettuccini Bolognese.

Hmmm......call it a crazy pizza craving, relief over surviving a near death experience....whatever you want to call it, I really liked their pizza! After having survived the elements at the Redskins/Chiefs game (Go Chiefs!), and being in a car accident on the way from said game (slow down, people!) all I wanted was to go home, take a hot bath to thaw out, light a fire, and curl up in my PJs. But some guy at the stadium just HAD to get a pizza and eat it beside me, and the smell got my stomach saying "OK, you can curl up in your PJs AND have a pizza". So I had to stop on the way home to get a fix. At first, I called George's, thinking I'd stick with something tried and true, since I know I like their pizza, but nobody answered the phone.....I don't know if they closed due to the weather, but it was locked up tight. So I walked into Spizzico instead, checked out their menu, and chose "The Works" pizza, which was a NY style pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. A 12" pizza came to around $14 and some change, I paid, got my order number, and sat at one of the tables to wait for them to fix it, which took about 15 minutes. Having read one review on here that referred to their pizza as "gas station pizza", I wasn't sure what to expect, but the smell coming from the box was amazing. Once i got it home and took that first bite, I was quite impressed....and I'd REALLY like to know where that gas station is that serves pizza like this! There wasn't a whole lot of meat, but also considering that it's thin crust, it wouldn't support TOO much meat, but there was enough to give it a great flavor. I ended up eating half of the pizza standing in my kitchen before I even headed upstairs for that hot bath. And I never did make it to the fireplace, my bed was just looking SOOOO comfy! Oh well.....good pizza, early to bed, and a Chiefs win. Overall, not a bad day!

They have very good pizza and homemade pastas. Their white pizzas are awesome, and the regular cheese is a delight as well. There seems to be a lot of hate towards this place from some other yelpers but to say their pizza is worse than gas stations? It's just a flat out lie. They have excellent pizza here and it's every bit as good as Bella Italia. I have a feeling many of these negative reviews are from George's supporters and are salty that there is a new pizza next door that is better and less expensive. The gnocci is all homemade and a great texture and their house dressing is also great. I've also had the eggplant twice and was awesome one time, but not as good the next.

Loved the pizza!!! Yummy!!! Found myself here again tonight. Excited while waiting for our usual 3 topping pizza of bacon, pep and sausage! Nom nom! Best around! I keep wanting to try new things but the pizza is just to good! I have tried the cannolis, while no vaccaros they still hold their own and are worth it if craving one and don't wanna make the drive!

The food here was really good. We were in the dining room and it did feel a little weird because on a Saturday night it was only us and one other party You order and its brought out to you but there's no waiters per se so the review that the service was bad must not have realized how it's set up. Our food did come out at different times but I guess it didn't matter to us. We'll eat there again

Pizza is such a personalized taste so you really have to take a lot of reviews (particularly negative reviews) with a grain of salt. For example, many people love Squisito's. I'm not a fan. My go to pizza place is Roccos for a point of reference. Last night we had the fennel sausage with broccoli rabe and smoked mozzarella. This was supposed to be a white pizza but low and behold, they used red sauce. The crust was really good, thin and firm - New York style, which is my preference. The toppings were perfect. Proper amounts of meat, veggies, and cheese. They were flavorful and worked well together. What was missing was the white sauce. The household was split on the overall experience. We phoned the order in the kid didn't know what broccoli rabe was and he had to be told that it was on their menu, even had to spell it! Spizzico, if you read this, you really need to teach your employees what you serve. IF the sauce was correct (and good) I would have given this place 4 stars. But they served us a pizza we didn't order, so I have to take 1 away. I may go back and try something else, I may not. This is why it is critical for restaurants to get it right the first time. Too bad. I am still looking for a good local place to get pizza and subs.

The restaurant was surprisingly very nice on the inside. Unfortunately, I don't go to a restaurant to pay for the interior design. I ordered a chicken parm and my wife ordered ravioli. We also ordered the cheese sticks for an appetizer. These 3 dishes cost us $40. For the quality of the food, $40 bucks is outrageous. Nothing appeared to be freshly made as advertised, which was disappointing. Everything seemed as if it was frozen and ran through a cooker. Coming from an Italian family, Italian food is a passion of mine and I feel as if it should be full of flavors, but not with any of these dishes. I won't be going back to this place. Service was good and the young guy there really busted his but, but the food isn't worth talking about. Especially not for $40. Very disappointed. I don't recommend this to anyone with the current food being served.

My fiancé and I love the pizza here. My favorite is the white pizza, it is delicious. We order out from here a lot and our order has always been ready on time. We will continue to order from this amazing restaurant :)

The pizza was pretty decent. So I went back. We had a party of 3: meatball parm, chicken parm, cheesesteak... 3 strikes, we were out and won't likely come back soon.

This place is terrible. The pizza is good. But customer service is nonexistent. The staff is extremely rude especially behind the counter. It's not my fault they didn't go to college and get a real job.

This is by far the worst pizza. We ordered the Works. It had diced red and orange peppers with onions. It tasted like a cheese burger on soggy dough. Under cooked and NO flavor. We decided that night we could have made a better pizza at home. Save your money and call delivery. Also another bad sign when on a Friday night place is empty with only employees sitting in dining room.

Best pizza around the Broadneck area! Food is always fresh. The Old Bay wings are amazing. The cheesesteaks are great too!

My office orders lunch from here on a weekly basis. Their food is amazing. The bianca pizza is delicious. Their salads are healthy and huge. My go-to's are the Arugula Salad, Spinach Salad, and Della Casa Salad. Their balsamic dressing is so yummy. Staff is always nice and quick. Highly recommend this place!!

Unfortunately for my husband and I we recently moved away and sorely miss this place! I loved their cheese pizza and husband always got the Spizzico fries (fries with crumbled sausage and cheese sauce). Seriously long for this pizza all the time, can't find an equal replacement in our new locale!

  • Jen M.

I would only go back for carryout and not in-house dining. Service was terrible and our food came to the table at different times. Some people were finished eating before others got their good. We had to ask TWICE where the rest of our food was. Caesar salad was good and the Sausage and pepperoni pizza is pretty good... Probably a step above Sbarro at the mall. The real disappointments were the meatballs and the arancini. For such a heavy-Italian speaking Italian family running the show, I expected more.

Great pizza. $7 Monday deal is the best. Just allow time as they are busy. Pasta dishes and sandwiches are great. Meatballs are different from what I'm used to, but everything else is great. Pretty big dine in area and they've easily accommodated large groups (20+) we've had, even on Mondays. Was in need of a high quality, family friendly, cost effective place to go on college parkway and they fit the bill nicely.

This is by far the best "New York Style" pizza in Maryland. I lived in New York for many years and have numerous points of reference. It is a true thin crispy crust with homemade fresh cheese and sauce. Anyone who disagrees simply has become accustomed to some of the normal garbage we get in this area. The only place close to this place is Bella Italia. We are lucky to have this place in Annapolis/Arnold. Their pasta is wonderful as well; the gnocchi, ravioli and fettuccine are all homemade. That's right, not out of the box. (Like George's) As far a pricing, I find it reasonable. Homemade pasta for $11.00 to $14.00 dollars is pretty fair, compared to George's wanting almost $20.00 for a far lesser quality. The people that dare compare this to George's have to be employees or family members of that establishment. I have tried George's a few times but their prices go up every year ( I have their numerous carry out menus from the last ten years or so to prove it) and the food is barely ok. (Except for their orzo soup, which is great) If George's tried to sell their pizza in New York, they would be closed within a few hours.

  • Craig S.

Cheap owners. Got a salad and they will only give you one little Kens dressing. It's not enough and the cheap asses won't give you another one, which costs less than $.50. Don't even ask for extra bread. Spend $37 on two pasta dishes and no extra bread.

    (1)
  • Liz S.

I have to agree with Mark's review. If I could give them less than 1 star I would! The customer service is horrible. I have work in the restaurant business for many years and if I ever spoke to a patron the way you do I would be fired on the spot! I would think that as a new business in the area you would want to be as customer friendly as possible and build your client base considering there is a pizza place just four doors down who has been there for years. You say you don't call customers names however you just confirmed in your own post you do referring to someone as "bitter"!! As for the food.... It is disgustingly greasy and I have had better from any delivery place out there. I will be taking my business and encourage others to takes to George's!!!

I gave this new comer a shot a few days after it opened. I was baffled at the quality of the food for such a "new" and "authentic" Italian restaurant. The pizza: the sauce was incredibly salty, and had NO taste. Italian? I don't think so. Very bland and tasteless, go a few doors down and have George's Pizza. They have been there for almost 30 years and their pizza is absolutely amazing, 100 times better...and bigger....cheaper too. The pasta: I ordered their Sunday rigatoni...eh...it was more like Sunday Microwaved Frozen Rigatoni...bland as can be. I'd rather buy canned sauce from an over priced market rather than ordering that ever again, sorry Gino. I don't know guys, it just didn't impress me very much. The people of Arnold have been used to such quality pizza, and throwing yourselves in the mix with quality as such isn't going to stand up to George's, or anything else in the surrounding area. I know you're a new comer and you're just trying to establish a business, but I don't know, try harder.

Great hand made pasta-I have gotten the fettuccine ragu twice now and loved it, delicious red wine based meat sauce! My boyfriend said he enjoyed his chicken alfredo, yummy! We have also tried the pizza, planning on ordering some for my holiday party this year!

I've had the pizza 3 times now and every time it's been fantastic. By far the best in Annapolis in my opinion and I love my pizza. Mozz sticks were great too as well as the salad and wings. Staff had always been friendly with us. Definitely our new favorite pizza place.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
