Stony River is an all-time favorite! I've been several times and absolutely LOVE it! The whiskey shrimp is yummy (even better to sop up the sauce with their tasty rolls)! The petite filet, oscar of course, ribs, and sides are soooooooooo good! The mashed sweet potato casserole is down right sinful! Speaking of sinful, the chocolate fudge cake is a MUST HAVE!!! Yum!!

This is one of my favorite places to take clients. The food is above par, the service is great, and it has a nice ambiance for talking business. The servers never rush you and are attentive without being intrusive. I love there hush puppies. I was disappointed when they took the roasted onion soup off the menu and replaced it with a more traditional version, but I guess they felt it was time to tweak the menu. Pricing is in line with other nicer steak houses. I enjoy sitting at the bar also after some shopping, and the service is great there also. Definitely a nice place for a special occasion dinner!

Yeah a chain, but we were craving some place we hadn't tried yet. It was a birthday lunch. Friend was visibly disabled and used a cane. I asked the hostess for the closest booth = less walking for my companion. The restaurant was basically empty. More staff than patrons. She took off like a rocket, sprinting to the complete opposite side of the restaurant. When we finally arrived I said "we asked for the closest booth." She looked baffled. I said my friend has difficulty walking. She softly muttered a sorry and dashed off. Hmmmm, not a great start to our meal. Our server was extremely polite and tried very hard to please. He was obviously following a predetermined method of dealing with customers.....he just didn't have the timing quite right. We hadn't even glanced at the menu and we were asked if we wanted appetizers. He took our drink order instead and said he would be back to take our order for our starters. We had mentioned that we were only going to order entrees, but the sales pitch was on. No big deal, as it was subtle. Our first taste of food came with a small basket of round looking rolls. We were warned they were very hot as they just came out of the (oven?, fryer?) I don't remember. The fact that they were so fresh I think made them appealing as they didn't have a whole lot of flavor, (a slight sweetness was detected), but if you slather something bread like that is warm with some butter chances are it will be edible. Our orders of their house special French dip, $20 (asked how I wanted the meat done which was super surprising), and a prime rib sandwich, $18. Both came with only one side and we opted for the fries. The meals arrived in a timely fashion, our server was quick to refill our drinks and ask about our experience which was nice. His timing had improved unfortunately our lunch was a mess. At first glance, things looked good -tender pink shaved ribeye, crusty bread, rich looking au jus and fries in a metal cone, Yay! The first bite was the tell tale sign that this was going to be bad. The bread was all wrong. The crust was so thick, you had to bite hard and pull which then put it out of the "eat it with your hands" category. And it was so so salty. A dunk in the au jus could have softened up the bread, but that ended up tasting like a broth of salt which made the salty sandwich even saltier. I could feel my blood pressure rise and not just because of the sodium levels. The over chewy crust of the bread was bad enough but to top it off, it just didn't seem fresh. The "crumb" and texture was not pillowy and tender, but dry and crumbly. I tried the fries and although hot and crisp and adorned with some herbs and maybe parm, they seemed to suffer from the same sodium overload. At that point I couldn't tell if it was residual from the French dip, or just salty on their own. Needless to say, after picking off some pieces of meat, and having another dough ball, my lunch was done. Of course, this made me have plenty of time to watch my friend, who would NEVER complain, struggle in desperation to gnaw through his sandwich. I am not kidding. His determination to get through the bread crust, gristle and fat of his rib eye,was cringe worthy. He should have brought his mechanic tools to get through that meal. I was in a pickle though as I am not shy of pointing out issues to servers and management, but this situation was different. Everything was cooked properly on my dish. Maybe folks love the salt and don't mind losing a tooth to get through a chewy crust. I don't know. Since my friend would not comment on the quality of his steak, I could not bring that up either although I knew that it was dismally poor. So I decided to vent here instead. In conclusion, it was one of the worst meals I have ever had and I got to waste $55 . The only thing I got was a caffeine buzz from the refilled glasses of diet coke that I chugged to hydrate myself from the salt lick sandwich.

Went today for a late lunch. Bartender was great. First thing I noticed was that the table was sticky... Then our napkins looked old/grey and had fuzz balls. All of our food had zero flavor and was super oily/greasy. Husband bit into his burger and grease was just dripping onto the plate. All of our plates were spotty and icky. Just felt gross leaving the place and will never go back.

We stumbled onto Stoney River while shopping at the mall. Tired and hungry we decided to give it a try. Surprise, surprise... This place has top notch service. They made me feel like the Queen of England from the moment we walked in the door. My meal consisted of the Trio of Filet Medallions with au gratin potatoes (yesssss) and a glass of Meiomi. The food was hot(!) and delicious. That steak was so tender I could've eaten it with a spoon. The "bread" was more like dessert and the cinnamon butter was the best part. I will definitely be back.

This place occupies a space somewhere between Outback Steakhouse and Morton's-- the steaks are priced right in the middle, and the big, dark space wants to be classy, but the open kitchen and abundance of giant tables kind of kill that vibe. We came because we had a gift card for $100, and we spent the full amount, +$3, including the tip. The free bread is basically like little donuts! They're hot and fried and come with sweet butter. It's a slightly odd way to start a meal, but they are really delicious. We also got a french onion soup ($8), which was pretty good and not too salty, though it could have used more cheese. We ordered two petit filets ($30), which each come with a choice of potato. The garlic mashed potatoes were disappointingly dry, but the macaroni and cheese (which you can sub for a dollar more, but our waiter was nice enough, or forgot, to charge us), was creamy and delicious! We also added two "side salads" for $6.50, but they were HUGE. I wish the waiter had told us so we could have just ordered one, but oh well. Both the caesar and the wedge were slightly overdressed. The steak was overcooked--we both ordered medium rare and it came around medium-- but not bad. It had a good crust and was pretty tender. I don't really trust places that feel the need to add an extra pat of butter on top of their steaks; if you have good quality meat and cook it well, you shouldn't need it. Service was consistent and pleasant, but I just don't see a reason to come back-- unless someone wants to give me a gift card again!

I dined at the Stoney River Steakhouse in Annapolis two months ago and it was fantastic! I couldn't stop talking about it. I invited four members of my family to join me there for dinner this evening (3/21/15). We made reservations and were seated immediately. We were seated by the window away from the main section of the restaurant and that was fine (I guess). We ordered our food and then waited 35-40 minutes. I asked about our order and they began bringing our plates. After everyone got their food; we found that some of the food (baked potato, mashed sweet potato, spinach) was lukewarm, other parts of the orders was good (fried shrimp, salmon, pork tenderloins). The Server offered to take the food back and warm it up but homey don't play that. LOL! My Sister allowed them to warm up her food and she's still with us. LOL! My Niece ordered broccoli and they served her a tree branch! There as a big truck with several branches hanging off of it. I don't recall seeing broccoli served like this before? Last thing was my beloved Creme Brulee? Crunchy top strawberries and black berries on top but cold (icy) on the bottom? I'm confused, isn't creme brulee either warm or room temperature. Cold? I don't think so. Stoney River Steakhouse has official ruined my creme brulee fetish! My baked potato taste like it had been sitting for a while. I couldn't believe it because this place is really pricey. I don't mind pricey when the food and service are great. I'm sorry but I really had high hopes for this place. I won't be going back. There's too many other restaurants to patronize. Like they say one monkey don't stop no show. LOL! I showed my age with that one didn't I?

Went for dinner, and to our luck happy hour was still going on, so we had a few drinks at the bar. The drinks were on point, and so was our dinner...steaks were cooked to our liking and was delicious!!!

Yes, yes, yes!!! Stoney River is sure to tantalize your every taste bud. From the moment we walked in, every server pleasantly greeted us. Our server did a terrific job making sure our food was hot and served quickly. The General Manager stopped by our table to ensure we were having a terrific experience. We had a great start to our evening. Now to talk about the food... We were hungry so for starters we had the tuna roll, whiskey shrimp, lobster bisque and onion soup. (Greedy - I know!) Followed by the house salad. We then indulged on our main courses: bone in cowboy ribeye, NY strip, steak and fries with Oscar topping. Side items included loaded baked potatoes, creamed spinach, sweet potato casserole (absolutely divine)! Everything was absolutely delish! The food was hot, our meals were cooked to our requested specifications. I would be remissed if I didn't tell you about the drinks, good wine selection and excellent strong drinks. Our meal extravaganza cost us $220 (for 4). A little pricey but we'll worth it. We will definitely go back and next time we are sitting by the fireplace in the sofa seating!

I had a great meal at Stoney River a few nights ago as part of my best friend's wedding reception. While I know that a party of 35 might not be the normal experience, everything was delicious and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere is really cool, too... and I definitely want to come back for a date night and sit in the cozy big booths near the fireplace. I tried the shrimp scampi appetizer and the steak rolls to start with. Both were so delicious! Then we got a huge salad that was full of fresh veggies and a delicious dressing. Dinner was our choice of filet mignon, chicken, or prime rib. I got the filet, and it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I didn't need to add any salt, pepper, A1 or anything. It was also the perfect size - not so large that I had to ask for a box, but not so tiny that I had four bites and it was gone. The lemon butter on top was great too. I enjoyed it with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans, which were both yummy as well. They also have a really large selection of bottled craft beers and special wines. While I can't rate this place based on the usual experience of ordering from their menu, I will say that their friendly servers, superb food and cozy atmosphere made my friend's wedding reception an event to remember!

Great experience! Service was great and food was amazing! Filet minion and prime rib was perfect! Loved the shrimp appetizer as well as the lobster bisque!! I will definitely be going back! I would recommend this restaurant!!

If you're coming here with someone else, prepare to spend at least 100 dollars. My mom and I come here once a month for our 'fancy night out' and honestly the steak here is probably the best around. While the prices are outrageously expensive, the taste makes up for it. The service is amazing and our experience is always pleasant. I'll continue to come back here every month! The only thing I have to say is that I'd love for the lobster bisque to have more lobster in it. But, hey, it tastes amazing so I can't complain.

This place is on point. They pay attention to details. Food is really, really good. Service is excellent. In Maryland both are hard to find, sometimes I wonder if service and giving a care exist here. It does at this place! We were pleasantly surprised and will be back for sure.

I'm giving 4 stars to Ariel's impeccable service and recommendations. The guy with the hairdo bartending was totally in the weeds and ignoring patrons till she showed up. I love the blue cheese chips and burgers here!

Very much surprised at the excellent fare and perfectly cooked steaks. Presentation is excellent and flavors are complex. Very consistent after multiple visits. I normally do not frequent chain establishments, so a 4 star is a big vote in this category from me.

Where do I start? Oh I know where. They take reservations--so I hit up the ever faithful Open Table app and get us a reservation real quick like--while we're looking for a park. Walk right in and get a seat. I've been 4 times in the past 2 months and there is always a wait. On to the food...The start you with a little basket of :stone puppies" and some mildly sweet flavored butter--we're instantly in heaven! We always get a salad--Caesar for me and wedge for my love. They're both great and portioned as an entree in my opinion. The crab cakes are a great appetizer. They have great drinks--I think it's cold a blue creek something--very good, I've tried the vanilla vodka drink too (sorry I'm horrible with remembering--I 'm the girl that buys "pretty" "cute" drinks) Hey they get the job done. My love goes for apple martini or gin/tonic. Entrees: I've only had their salmon and I keep going back b/c it's divine! The spinach and Thai rice are a great bonus too. My love has the ribs--fall off the bone and seasoned well. We always order a piece of cheesecake to-go. The manager a "big boy" like my love always comes around a shoot the shxt with us. He's very kind. The first time we dined here ---he came to the table and moved us to a more comfortable table--he was upset that they were trying to squeeze us into a small table. There is a nice cozy fire place inside so it creates a very cozy setting to enjoy a nice dinner with family, friends, and loves. Try it out. They have a bar--I've never been to it--I think it's kind of small--but the restaurant isn't very large. The staff are very kind and aim to please and make you a regular customer.

Love the atmosphere of the restaurant it is hard to believe it is attached to the mall. We sat at the bar on Saturday night since the wait was over 40 minutes. The bar staff was a little attentive but not much it's almost like they are so young and service is not the priority but getting drinks out to the dining clientele was. The food was impeccable but I guess being attached to the mall guests will come. I will try this place again being an Annapolis foodie and local

Ok, I have visit this restaurant before with no reservation. The wait is long that must say something about the food (excellent). This time made reservation for 7:00, arrived 6:55 was informed would be about 15 to 20 minutes. Well we actually waited 35 minutes. During that time we found a table in the bar area. Hmm I thought if we made reservations we would seated within 10 minutes no more. Their is a disconnect to have great food and good service at your table why do they fail at seating the customers on time that have reservations. That's why they get 3 stars. The food gets 4 stars. It's your choice. Enjoy

Flavorful, delicious, rich food in a rustic steakhouse atmosphere. Love this place for a date night or a family dinner celebration. Service is impeccable as well as the food and quality. The steak rolls are a must have appetizer. The au gratin potatoes so rich and delicious. Can't believe that its in a mall as the service and food are top quality. Hubby had the sushi grade tuna cooked rare and amazing. The steaks cooked perfectly. Won't disappoint.

I love Stoney River more and more. My husband and I have been going there for the last few years now and I swear, each experience is better than the last. The GM is the nicest, most sincere guy, stopping by various tables to say hello and inquire about their meals. The hostesses and servers are delightful and the food? MY GOODNESS! From steaks to seafood to dessert, you can't go wrong. I love the ribeye, as well as their red snapper with crab. AMAZING! It's the perfect date night location, as it's conveniently located in the mall, but you definitely, definitely do not feel like you are there. I can't tell you how many times my hubby and I have gone there for dinner and then gone to the movies there right afterwards. So convenient. There are also private rooms for rent as well, so if you have a birthday get-together or some other special occasion, they can accommodate you easily. Stoney River might be a chain, but it doesn't feel like it in the least. The personalized attention you get whether it's your first visit in or your 80th like ours (lol), makes it a wonderful experience. Bring your checkbooks - it does get expensive. But, it's worth every single red cent!

Stoney River is located in the Annapolis Mall, but don't let that scare you away. As soon as you walk in you will be impressed with the ambiance. We dined here on 11/08/14. We were seated immediately which was great for a Saturday night at 6:00pm. We were a party of four (3 adults and a baby). The waiter greeted us in a timely manner and after he took our order he gave us bread. The beard was nice and hot and had a sweet butter. My husband and mother in law ordered the Lobster Bisque Soup and a Wedge Salad. The salad was fresh and cold. I hate room temperature lettuce. :) My husband's soup was tasty but I felt like it could have been hotter. For our entrees my mother in law ordered the NY Strip and my husband and I ordered the Ribeye. When are meals arrived the steaks were very flavorful and very tender. We were all impressed. I ordered the mashed potatoes with my steak and it was delish. The reason why I didn't give Stoney River five stars is because the steaks were lukewarm, but honestly i loved the flavor of the steak. We will be returning!

This place changed over managenent this year. Food quality has gone down and they took the brined pork chop off the menu. That was one of the only original items on the menu. The wait staff has completely changed over and the management, Jay and Fabiano, are gone. Who knows what is going on with this place now, but not worth going in until they figure it out.

My boyfriend had raved about this place being great, so we made the trip on one special night. He'd signed a job offer and I wanted to treat. We made reservations just in case and, I believe, left a little more time because weather was absolutely awful. Black ice and everything. When we got there, it was absolutely no issue. They greeted us pleasantly and lead us to our table. I wish I remembered exactly which appetizer and drinks that we ordered, but whatever they were they were delicious. We actually both had the "coffee" filet mignon for our entree and it was to die for. Attempting to copy it at home barely does the dish justice. Service was excellent! From the waitress to the runner who brought the food out, to the Manager- all was awesome. We had a fantastic time and it was really a perfect treat. Will absolutely be back.

YUM!!!! First of all, adding the caramelized onions to the mashed potatoes is pure genius! And the coffee rub/soak for the steak.....well, you just have to try it to understand it. I don't really know what else to say except "Go there!"

A friend and I stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed. We had the blue cheese potato chips as an appetizer and they were delicious (the serving is HUGE btw). We both had a bowl of french onion soup which was amazing, great blend of cheese and breadcrumbs, and the soup flavor was just right. I had the steak burger which was cooked perfectly to the medium I asked for. It was juicy and flavorful. My friend had the coffee rubbed filet mignon and he was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and tenderness. Waitstaff was very attentive and made great recommendations. Definitely worth checking out!

The cowboy steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The sea bass was also very juicy and tender- just an amazing special dish. My parents got the mushrooms for a side but my mom's dish was saltier and slightly over cooked so we got a different side since her other side was either too salty or spicy. I thought the Mac and cheese was a little too runny and could use slightly more texture. Their lemon poppy bread is so good!

This is hands down my favorite restaurant. It hits all bases for me. Great ambiance: check Great service: check Fast kitchen: check GREAT FOOD: double check Everytime I go I order the 16 oz prime rib with the oscar on top (lump crab and hollandaise sauce) and a side of any of there lovely potatoes (mashed, baked, or caramelized). I love Stoney!

Nice steakhouse, especially being located in a mall. The waiter was in the weeds from the beginning and never recovered (the place wasn't that busy). His knowledge of the menu was weak as well. I would of expected a little better that late into the dinner service (-1 star). The tuna appetizer was excellent, but the blue cheese chips were uninspired and a tad on the soggy side. The proteins were well cooked (my table had the coffee cured filet, the pork loin, and the filet trio). The side dishes (especially the spinach) were over salted - almost like they hit all of them twice with salt as they were sent out (-1 star). All in all, I think it is worth a second look as it has potential. I will update if I make a second trip.

Love, love, love the food here. Everything is delicious, especially the 'Coffee Cured Filet'. The mashed potatoes are great as well as the Key Lime Pie. If you are in the area, definitely a good meal.
For a restaurant attached to the mall, it had a very nice interior. My food was fine, but for the price that we paid I expected better. I got the whiskey shrimp on toast points, which tasted okay but was served lukewarm. For my entree I tried the tenderloin steak salad which was okay too. The steak was cooked well but the greens were drowned in salad dressing. My companions really enjoyed their steaks so that seems to be their strong point.

Happy Hour Review Happy hour starts at 4 and continues to 7pm, but by the crowd at 4:30PM you would have thought it began earlier. When the PRIME bacon cheeseburger and crunchy tuna arrived I can see why! At $6, it $2 more than the Brio happy hour burger but I have to say it's twice as good! The crunch tuna was nice, but somewhat monodimensional. The blue cheese chips are wonderful but portioned for 3 or more people. Wine pours were generous, and service from "305 BAR" was adequate.

Made reservations and arrived early. Was told by hostess that they "were on schedule." 30 minutes after our reservation time I asked about the delay. Hostess stated 3 other patron were ahead of us yet we called promptly. Very disorganized. Ordered the ribeye but got a very tough and unruly porterhouse. Would not recommend this place and will never return.

The coffee cured filet was one of the best steaks I've ever had. This place is better than all the other steak houses in Annapolis. I just think people overlook it because its located at the mall.

Stoney River is a chain restaurant with a non-chain type of feel. The ambiance is nice, the service is usually very good, and the food is excellent. The coffee cured filet is so good you could find it at one of those expensive steakhouses for double the price. And it comes with sides! I ordered the cabin filet with bleu cheese and a baked potato. We also tried the Chocolate fudge blondie dessert, which was phenomenal. The bread at stoney river is these sweet fried dough balls and they come with a cinnamon butter. Delish! (But dont eat too many and spoil your appetite for the main course.) They also have on the menu great appetizers, but I wouldn't recommend these unless you can eat A LOT because again, the main course is THAT good. Be sure to join the Red Canoe Society for a $20 off coupon and more via email after your first visit! You can also make reservations online to avoid long waits.
My wife took me to Stoney River Steakhouse for my birthday. Food was excellent, service was excellent. From the hostess to the servers, everybody was smiling and friendly. Sat near the fireplace., which is what we requested. Great evening overall and they were kind enough to give us a free desert with a candle.

Had a club sandwich and the lobster bisque. A-OK. And the club sandwich was better than most. Service seemed a trifle slow for mid-afternoon but the waiter was very friendly and engaging otherwise. Definitely worth a trip back for dinner but till then, it gets 3-stars for a good lunch.

Stoney River dropped a star since my previous review. I guess they might win it back with the coffee-marinated filet, but I didn't get that. I got fish. Our cocktails were fine, with the gingerbread maritni very pleasing to the missus. My Manhattan was serviceable, but not noteworthy. We passed on the apps his time, being less hungry than on previous trips. Although there weren't many folks in the room, the service was less than mediocre. Back to the fish. They aren't very good at cooking fish. The portion was small and overcooked, and lacked real flavor. Boo. My Au Gratin potatoes side was dry and too salty. The sauteed (?) spinach lacked flavor. I don't remember what the missus ordered, but I do recall bringing home a doggie bag, which I threw in the garbage two days later. She didn't want it. One more note on the service: Since the missus didn't want wine with dinner I opted for wine by the glass. They really mean what they say when the serve "by the glass." I ran out of wine early on but got no refills. I expressed my disappointment to our waiter when he brought the check; he explained that he was "working a party" in another room and didn't have time to check on us after our entrees were served. I was too busy grinding my teeth to leave him a decent tip. I left just enough to ensure insult. Maybe his next table will reap the benefits of my wrath. I guess we should reserve Stoney River for steaks and bottles of wine. The fish and the service won't bring us back.

Amazing restaurant. We are from California and wanted to find a steak house to celebrate our anniversary with our two girls(11& 9). The food was spectacular and the service was even better. The general manager even let the girls go in the back and help with our special celebration dessert. I wish there was one close to our house. We appreciate the food but even more the service!

Sucks that I wasn't impressed. Now, I am not a steak person. I came because I was with steak lovers. I got the chicken with string beans. The chicken was moist... but flavorLESS!! The green beans were literally stright out of the patch. And please dont get it twisted I like fresh crisp veggies, but not like this. They were barely steamed and again flavorLESS. The best part of dinner was wine and the dinner rolls. But my babe was impressed with is coffee rubbed steak. But thought the same thing about the green beans. Although he doesnt really do mashed potatoes... I thought they were decent and have good flavor. Tasted like real butter and cream. But for the price... I have had better chicken and my man said he has had better steak.

Birthday dinner for my guy, he likes steak, well this is the place to go. Love the dining area, sat near the fireplace really nice ambiance... The service was great, our waiter was attentive and polite. Now the food, the small salad was fresh and the lobster bisque had to be one of the best that I have tasted. The steaks, filet mignon, with the au gratin potatoes and spinach was great. Definitely going back again...

My friend and I decided to try this restaurant after a tiring day of shopping. We went to the restaurant around 3:30pm so as you can imagine the restaurant was empty. The hostess told us it would be a "few minutes" before we would be seated. After about twenty minutes, I went to find out what was taking so long. I was then told by the hostess station manager that it would be a few more minutes. To our disbelief we ended up waiting an hour before we were seated.!!!! When we were finally seated I spoke to the Manager Rob about our experience at the hostess station. He immediately apologized and said that he would remedy the problem by ensuring that the rest of our experience was superb. Let me tell you that he more than delivered on that promise! Marty, our waiter was excellent and totally made us forget about the terrible experience at the hostess station. Our food came out promptly and everything was so tasty and fresh! By the end of the evening we were so thrilled with everything. Rob, the manager is the epitome of what any good manager represents. He cares about his guests and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that guests have a wonderful experience. Marty is just an exceptional waiter. I would definitely visit this place again because of those two coupled with the fact that the food is pretty amazing!

We have just been back for a second visit, having been promised by a friend that our first visit was a one-off bad experience. It was my birthday today and my parents were here to visit so I chose Stoney River to take them to. Our waitress was less than enthusiastic and I had to ask whether there were any specials - there were not. I asked her whether our meals could please be brought out piping hot - our last experience resulted in cold food. The food was, again, cold. She apologised and said she had asked the chefs to make sure it was hot. Not my problem - it wasn't. So, my mum and I both sent our meals back. My steak was warm but the vegetables were not. My green beans came back scorched and way overdone - but not hot. Sadly, I am now lost as a customer. We will not be returning and I will be making sure to tell all of my friends not to bother wasting their money. It's far too expensive here to be given such a lack of service and cold food. Disappointed.

This use to be one of my favorite restaurants. My family and I loved it so much that we through my daughter a sweet 16 party at the restaurant. That was about a year and a half ago. Since then the management has changed and so has the menu and recipes (I hate it when that happens). Now the best thing on the menu is the club sandwich. After several visits to try and fall in love with the restaurant again I'm giving up. I can make a club sandwich at home.

Still sick after eating the tuna roll at Stoney River. My wife took one bite and immediately sent it back, luckily i didn't have any. Spoke with the Italian Mafioso Chef/Manager/Host about my wife's illness about two hours after eating one of their tuna rolls, then sending it back. He immediately said they brought their tuna in every day and accepted no responsibility. All I asked for was a little responsibility for the situation, not even a credit for the awful meal that my wife is still recovering from. He even claimed he had the same meal and this was only about 12:30PM.. I know there are few options in Annapolis for a nice meal but this place is clearly on there way out just like their neighbor restaurants. The tuna was gray when it was served to us by the way. When I brought this up to the chef/manager, he claimed that was the normal color of tuna... I have been deep sea fishing and eating it on the boat. WTF??? Seriously- don't eat here and support this establishment. It is run by lying idiots.

I went to Stoney River this past Thursday for my birthday dinner and was very pleased with my meal as well as the service...especially the service. My waitress was Stephanie and she was fantastic. I have never received service like that and I am a true foodie.

If these people ever ask me to cut into my $40 steak to make sure it's cooked properly again, I may explode. OK, that isn't the review, but if I am paying semi-top dollar for a steak, I shouldn't have to cut into it in front of the server to see if it's OK. While they may think it's a charming way to please the guest, it's just annoying. That said, the food here has always been decently good on our visits (and it should be, it's expensive), and the service has generally been good, especially for a place in the mall. The kitchen can get slow when it's busy. We usually start out with the lobster tempura and French onion soup, both rich and good, and then migrate to one of the filet mignon entrees. Truth be told, the meat is usually well prepared and cooked, the mashed potato side is yummy, and the bernaise and crab topping is, well, very good. If you get steak here, I think it is hard to go wrong. Worth a try, but be prepared to spend about $60 per person with wine and drinks.

I'm tempted to give this place 1-star but I fear that would come across as reactionary, and somewhat dubious. The good below was the only saving grace. The Good: Comfy seating over by the fireplace area. Nice, large fire place and the decor is that of a rocky mountain ski lodge. The rolls they provide you with before you order are impossible to stop eating. They are basically fresh fried dough. Also, I did grab a burger here once for lunch and it was very, very good. The Bad: For the prices, you'd think you were ordering high end choice or even prime. What you get is a steak that the Outback would proudly serve for much less. Prime rib was over cooked (a major party foul). My coffee crusted filet was also over cooked, and over blanded, if that is even a word. The NY Strip was thin and salty. Dessert options were unoriginal and uninspired. The hot fudge tasted fresh out of the can, and the cake was just not very good. Cool whip was served on top. COOL WHIP! The Ugly: The service was decent enough up until we started eating. Then our server disappeared. We spent two hours in the place, and only about 45 minutes of that was spent eating. This was NYE (2011), so I will cut them some slack (or maybe I should do the opposite?) For that night in particular, they were offering free appetizers for waiting patrons in the lobby. What we expected was a nicely laid out display of tasty starters. What we got was a complete mess. Dirty dishes, cold, lifeless food, and no replenishment in sight. A good restaurant just wouldn't let that happen. I know it's a major holiday. I know you're busy but have some respect for the food you are serving. The Verdict: I won't be back/

After a very long day of driving, I got off the highway to find a place for dinner. It was 9:30 PM on a thundering Saturday night and many places were closing up. I headed over to the Westfield mall to see which restaurants were still open. I didn't care for burgers and BBQ, but then I saw a steak place called Stoney River Legendary Steaks, with its own exterior entrance, still open until 10:30PM. I felt I deserved a nice dinner to end the long day after driving over 500 miles, starting from Albany NY at 6AM and running around Atlantic City, Baltimore, and DC, all in the same day/night. I walked in and I asked if dinner was still being served and yes it was. I was asked what was the special occasion (just traveling) and I was seated at a C-shaped booth in the main dining room, which has the setting of a mountain lodge with dim lighting, high ceilings, active fireplace, paintings on the wall, and canoe hanging over near the open kitchen. There's booth seating (no table cloth) along the walls, table seating (table cloths) and lounge sofa seating in the center of the room. All tables had candlelight and swing music was playing from the speakers setting for a good relaxed atmosphere. There's also a bar in the front and a private dining room. Okay, the food. Stoney River is open for lunch and dinner serving steaks, seafood, chicken, and more. See the menu offerings at stoneyriver.com Lunch is served until 4:00 PM offering sandwiches, salads, soups, and lunch entrees. Dinner is served after 4:00 PM. Full wine list in the menu. You can order some dinner entrees at lunch, but no lunch entrees during dinner. The prices are on the pricey side, most dinner entrees in the $21.99-$37.99 range, similar to Fleming's prices, which I had two weeks ago on the other coast. Lunch entree salads are $11.99-$15.99, appetizers are $9.99-$13.99 and desserts are $8.99-$11.99. With the high prices charged, I was hoping the food was going to be exceptional with freshness, quality and taste and great service to match. I was asked for some ice water with lemon and skipped the wine. My server Cliff (a very popular team member) went over the menu and specials and mentioned a Pecan Encrusted Swordfish served with caramelized mashed potatoes and broccoli was a special. This sounded so good that I decided on the Swordfish ($27.99). The managing partner Jay came over to introduce himself after I was noting a select few pages of the menu for an accurate Yelp. It was mighty dim in the there. I gave out a YOU'VE BEEN YELPED card, and briefly explained how Yelp works. They have been Yelped 8 times already. I was given business cards from Jay and Cliff. While my dinner was being prepped, I was brought out a complementary basket of Stoney River fried dough balls with sweet cinnamon honey butter. The fried dough with the sweet butter melts in your mouth and I was offered more, which I happily accepted. The kitchen activity was busy and it was awesome to see the big flames shooting off the grill from my seat. The food arrived in 15 minutes after ordering. The pecan encrusted swordfish was excellent, very tender and juicy inside, with great flavors and the best I've had in a very long time! The chunky mashed potatoes were enhanced with the sweet taste of the caramelized onions. Definitely the right choice! There was also applause from the kitchen and front of the house staff as they finished dinner service at 10:30 PM, and I did not see any "Chef Ramsay-like" outbursts tonight, hehe. For dessert, I decided on the Cappuccino Crème Brulee ($9.99) with candied cinnamon pecans and topped with strawberry, which was large enough for two people to share. The crème brulee had the custard texture with the sweet cappuccino taste. I was asked if I wanted coffee, but I was too wired from enough caffeine. Overall, the dinner was great from start to finish. The food I had was very unique. Instead of hot rolls or bread (ho-hum), Stoney River fried dough balls with sweet butter is given. Instead of the typical grilled swordfish with basic potatoes, the food was enhanced with pecans and caramelized onions, respectively. The cappuccino crème brulee with pecans was not the typical crème brulee I've had many times over. The service was professional with several refills on ice water, more fried dough and butter, and timely delivery of the food. As I was leaving, I was given a lunch and dinner menu placard and if I was in the area, to call ahead and come back in. I would more often for special occasions such as a birthday or "new career change", but there are no Stoney River locations in NH. We do have Buckley's Great Steaks and the Hanover Street Chophouse, both 5 stars in the Manchester, NH area. The manager took off into the night with the bass pumping. The night was just getting started! NOTE: The management and staff knowing that I was doing a review did not affect this 5 star rating. The uniqueness made the difference.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Stoney River. Went there with good friends and our kids. Had the crab cake dinner (which is not on the menu...just ask for it!) Never disappointed with the food there. But what I am yelping about this time is the service! Had a phenomenal waiter who is new to the area...came from New York...have never had a waiter at ANY restaurant who was so attentive, helpful, cheerful and just great! He made sure we were pleased with everything and if we weren't he made sure it was fixed to our liking. He never had a negative response to a request...it was always "let me see how we can accomplish this!" Can't wait to go back!!!

I love this place!!! I went with my family (a party of 6) and everyone except 1 ordered a steak. No matter the cut, the steaks were to die for! Someone in my group ordered the ribs and she ranted and raved about them. The ambiance is romantic, classy and stylish. It is a bit pricey, but what do you expect for an upscale steak restaurant. The rolls that they bring to the table are delish! I'm crazy about bread and I could literally make a meal off of them. (Don't judge me!) I would highly recommend this place for a nice birthday dinner, romanic dinner or just a special place when you want to treat yourself! P.S. The cloth tablecloths and napkins just SCREAM....CLASS! LOL!

We dropped in on a Friday evening. Very nice place for a date or a quiet dinner. Not really the place to take a group of friends, unless yall plan to stay super quiet. Dinner was pretty pricey, and servings were small. That's pretty typical of steakhouses... so that wasn't a surprise to me. The food was just ok... it didn't blow me out the water. The menu was not extensive... so just come for the steak. I don't really eat steak so I probably won't be back... The food: I ordered swordfish I think... mashed potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered steak with mac & cheese.. which she said was really good. They serve circle balls of bread with butter... never had bread like that anywhere... they are quite tasty.

I thought this place was excellent! I was a little hesitant because of the so-so reviews I read here. I'm so glad I finally decided to get the place to try! I thought the service was excellent I had a waiter named Marty who was polite, knowledgable, and attentive. The food was wonderful! My boyfriend and I agree this is going to be one of our special date restaurants. My only complaint is that it was a little warm in there!

Last week, my friends and I went to dinner at Stoney River Steak House at the Annapolis mall. Although the restaurant was fairly busy, we didn't have to wait long and were soon shown to our table. While waiting for our food, our waitress, "D", brought out a basket of "stone puppies". These 2 bite bread/biscuit/cake creations were served with a sweet cinnamon butter and before long, we were begging "D" to bring out more "stone puppies." They were absolutely delicious and we must have eaten at least three baskets. I can not comment on any of the legendary steaks but I highly recommend the lobster bisque. Overall, I found the food to be moderately priced, the staff was courteous, and the service was excellent. Perhaps, what impressed me most was the way the restaurant manager, worked the room. He stopped by every table and appeared to know most of the guests by name. It was such a breath of fresh air to dine in a restaurant where it was "all about the customer." I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Stoney River and can see this becoming my "go to" restaurant.

Now normally this place is great... But I went for my birthday and it was TERRIBLE... I ordered a ribeye & they brought me a NY strip... And tried to tell me it was a ribeye... My sister & friend ordered the coffee filet & they ordered it medium... It came back RAW... Then sent it back for another steak and they just recooked the same steak and then it was burnt on the outside... Now normally I'm not one to complain but this was a TERRIBLE experience...

What better way to kick off (or end) a shopping spree than with a meal at Stoney River Steakhouse? My Mom and I had lunch at Stoney River last week and it was great. My Mom has been there many times but for me, it was a first. We were there on a Thursday for lunch and it was nice and quiet even with all of the open space and hard surfaces. The service was excellent too. Of course I'll admit the restaurant wasn't very crowded so the wait staff had nothing else to do. ; - ) Our lunches were delicious. I ordered the prime steak sub special and it was melt-in-your-mouth good. Seriously. I didn't even need to chew it. I tried it with Stoney's homemade potato chips which were nice and crispy and not too greasy or salty. Since it was my birthday they brought out a complimentary chocolate cake. The cake was very cold and kind of dry, as if it has been in the freezer for a long time. After eating a steak sub, I didn't need any more calories so I was ok with the dessert not being very tasty, but I thought the restaurant should have higher standards then that. What if I had really been looking forward to that dessert and found out it was last week's leftovers? Anyway, given the chance, I would return again. I can only hope I once again get front row parking and a quiet dining room.

Holy moly party in my mouth! I don't even know where to begin, so we'll go with start to finish...! The wine selection is not extensive but what they do have is pretty good. The little stone puppies with the honey butter are my favorite thing there and I could literally make a mean little meal out of just them and some wine. The appetizer list seems a little limited, but the whiskey shrimp is definitely a favorite. The shrimp were plump and juicy - not overcooked a bit. I have had the coffee-cured filet and it is probably my favorite steak, ever. On another occasion I tried the salmon which left a lot to be desired. I'll stick to slabs of beef. The scalloped potatoes that come with meals are straight-up LEGIT! The "new and improved" mac n'cheese is really good but a small portion, slightly salty and you could definitely taste/see the unhealthy amount of butter.

After finding a coupon in the local paper for $20 off of two dinner entrees, I decided to visit tonight. My guy and I sat in the nice cozy seats near the fire place to set off our date night. We started off the meal with a beer for him, and a mai tai for myself. The house salad was great and we loved the rolls with the sweet butter. For the main course he ordered the half of chicken (which was super tender), with broccoli and mashed potato as sides. I ordered the crab cakes with a baked sweet potato. I gave a 4 star rating because my sweet potato was luke warm. The crab cakes were made with premium crab meat and no filler. I will return to this location and will try something new.

A evening out with my girlfriend, prompted us to check out this steak house. After Westfield Shopping Mall's expansion to their Annapolis location, 20+ shops and eatery's we're added to the directory, and since then Stoney River Steakhouse has been on my list to try. Located in the rear of the mall this steakhouse has two entry points, I recommend walking around and entering through the outside of the mall. The mall entrance will place you into a winding hallway and put you in the rear of the dining room closest to the kitchen, I noticed everyone's eyes looking up from their meals giving me a awkward vibe as we made our way around to the host table. We we're sat fairly quickly and had a preference in our seats, which is always nice, likely due to the awesome front desk staff. Our waiter on the other hand made the experience flawless, and really made us felt like he cared about our meal and if it was perfect for us ; something I hardly see from a chain. My meal started with their lobster bisque, rich creamy and swimming throughout were lobster tail chunks! The soup was slightly prefect and not too heavy before my meal. Though we were served rolls, the poppy seed rolls were small enough that I didn't feel like I was eating too much before my meal . I ordered a 7oz. steak, rare and coffee cured (using a coffee based rub, this rub uses coffee mixed with salt and other spices to enhance the flavor) . This was paired with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms in a caramel onion glaze. I also went for the recommend red wine of the waiter. Locally grown and sold, his choice was dry and sweet and paired well with the dish. The steak was tender, and though it wasn't aged it was high quality and thoroughly enjoyable throughout each bite. The coffee rub, added a lot of flavor and a good blackened outer layer for the steak, and however much they used for the steak didn't steal the steak's flavor, just complimenting the steak perfectly . As i went finished my meal, I left a large amount of the mushrooms behind. Though I enjoyed the taste and texture, I would highly recommend skipping out on this side dish. My Girlfriend ended up getting a wedge salad, which was a little too much of a starter for her, and the chimichurri swordfish. Her meal was excellent, just as mine was. The end result of my visit has made me a fan of this chain, and likely going to come back next time I am in the area. On a end note I did find a few things disappointing, for starters I expected there to be a good list of on tap beers, nope bottle only and 5% abv macrobrewed Miller / Coors beers like Blue moon. Also the wine menu isn't that vast like some of the higher end steak houses, though Stoney River comes off as one, it lacks in the variety of wine and beer choices. Outside of those little picky things, I highly recommend a visit next time your in Annapolis, this location won't disappoint you.

The best lunch I had in a while. My wife ordered the coffee steak and I had the salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly. The server, Katherine, was awesome. I highly recommend her and the restaurant. Oh, the drinks were great. It can be a bit on the pricey side, but worth ever penny, nickel, dime, and quarter!

After an afternoon of shopping and "girl time", we were thirsty, famished and ready to grub. We wandered into Stoney River Steakhouse and never looked back! To quench our thirsts, we ordered Sangria -- which was a damn good choice. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was a good start. Served with toasty tortilla chips and housemade salsa, it's great for sharing (or keeping all to yourself). The cobb salad with friend chicken was good and also large enough to share. We tried our best not to devour the basket of those seasoned warm buttery rolls before the appetizers were served. Next time, I'm pretty sure I won't be so polite. The ambience is classy, but not too uppity. There are plush couches and tables to choose from. The fireplace sets off the perfect date. It's also good for a few friends who just hanging out. Real nice and cozy like.

can I express my love for this place enough? I was there for my mom's retirement and my boyfriends new job..celebrating The staff and management really has something that stands out more than alot of places in this area, a knowledgable and friendly staff and a manager that goes above and beyond to make sure that every customer is happy and will strike up a delightful conversation, you can tell that each person feels passionate about what they do and they like to be there and are customer service oriented The turn-off about most places downtown is sometimes the staff is less than friendly and not very attentive..I never once experienced this here I do not usually crave dishes from restaurants when it comes to fish but, the grouper with horseradish was AMAZING and so was the Red wine the waiter had reccomended as his personal 2nd favorite since the first one was out of stock. My family was impressed with the tenderness and flavor of their steaks, they referred the steak to " the best" I love the fact it's very comfortable atmosphere is chic, rustic, candle-lit with 1940-esque booths and has an intimate feel Each dish looked like the chef's really put love into what they do, taste of the fusions were outstanding and worth the wait I would come back many of times

I went there for dinner last night with my boyfriend and his family. All the food was delicious. The French onion soup was great, not too salty like some places. I ordered the coffee cured petite filet and sweet potato mash with a side caesar salad and honestly I am still thinking about how amazing it was this morning. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly, and the sear on the outside may have been the best part. You could taste the coffee and molasses. Definitely recommended. The sweet potato mash was also really good, with brown sugar and pecans. YUM :) They salad was standard, and also pretty large as a side item. The bread they bring out is seriously like little fried donuts, and they have his awesome cinnamon butter. Will definitely be going back because I know I'm going to be craving that coffee cured filet from here on out.

I've been to this place before and it's a shame that my 2 star "meh. I've experienced better" is yes...I've experienced better at this place before. Tonight was terrible! We had reservations for 7pm. I walked up and the girl immediately tells me the wait is 45 minutes. I inform her that we had reservations and she says no problem she'll get us seated. At 7:20 I go back up and ask where we were in the line up, she tells me another 25 minutes. So then I clarify..."So you're saying we have to wait the same amount of time someone who walked in has to wait." She replies, "yes." We do get seated around 7:45. The waiter comes out, he's great. Our wine comes out quickly and our appetizers come out quickly. I'm thinking we're going to be fine the rest of the dinner, let's just sit here and have a good time. 15 minutes go by and the waiter comes back to take our entree orders and promises bread. 15 minutes later he comes back to refill our water and we remind him about that bread. Another 15 minutes later he comes back and checks in on us and tells us that our food will be out shortly but it's unusually busy tonight. Meanwhile, ANOTHER table has come in and received their food (2 of them, 4 of us). I see a manager walking around the table asking everyone if their meal is fine. She avoids us even though I'm making eye contact with her. Soon, another manager comes by to apologize for the wait but he had a party of 30 that had to get served. He asks if we would like another bottle of wine. I have to respond "if that bottle of wine will be free then sure." He snaps his fingers and says "no problem." He returns and only tops off our glasses. Then walks away with 3/4 of the bottle left. Does he come back? Nope. Finally....at 9:15 we are served our food. But are we served all our food? Nope, my husband is served his sandwich and is assured that he will soon get his fries. They do eventually come out, but he's already halfway done with his sandwich. Like I said, I've been to this place when the service was great and the food warm and delicious. Tonight was most definitely only worth of 2 stars. They did not honor our reservations even though they acknowledged they had them. It took over an hour to get our food. If the manager or even our waiter had come over to us 30 minutes after we had ordered to explain I might have been more appeased. But that was not the case. Overall....taking note to not go to this location anymore. Thank goodness there are others in the area.

Private birthday party, fixed menu. Server apologized for her "short" arms in advance while leaning over people and handing them dishes to place on table and asked to be passed for removal. You would think management would not pick a server for a private party that couldn't properly reach things. Server took "orders" and asked each person if they didn't want to "get" a crab cake or shrimp or lobster tail with their entree. I mentioned a "fixed" menu, and the menu on the table had these items on it alongside the "downloaded Private Lunch Menu items" with no prices. No additional prices were mentioned as the server "encouraged" people to get one or even 2 items. The service was slow, the food took forever to come out and I think in 45 minutes I was asked once if I needed a beverage. My medium fillet came out dry, grey, tasteless and over well done. Another persons chicken came out undercooked and pink in the middle. The bill on a "fixed menu" for 12 @ 37.00 plus 17% banquet gratuity and 3% "administrative" fee came out to be over $900. I have had better food and service at bachelor parties.

"Legendary Steaks" is a pretty good tagline for this place. It may seem pretentious to call yourself "legendary" when no one has composed heroic epics to you, so to prevent this I will attempt to put together a few lines in the Old English meter, a la Beowulf: OK, no I won't. Let's start with the bar. They have at least five kinds of top shelf bourbon available. I love me a Manhattan, and they made me one with Blanton's. Top notch. The wine selection is also good, but very overpriced (glasses run $7-$15, bottles are marked up 4x from retail). Next came the appetizers. The shrimp toast, as stated in earlier reviews, is a must-get. The mussels are also very good, with a wonderful herby sauce that matches the tender flesh perfectly. The bread is epic-worthy: the donut hole relationship can't be denied. There is a 'secret dessert' involving these, more on that later. Then, they brought out the steaks. All their beef is dry-aged for 24 days before serving. I had the Coffee Cured Filet which is marinated before cooking in a coffee reduction with brown sugar and spices. This forms a beautiful crust upon grilling, which tastes smoky and nutty and sweet. I will probably never order anything but this, ever again, when I come here. My wife and her brother both had the ribeyes, which were juicy with a capital J (and probably a little heart over the i) -- perfectly cooked to their specifications. The sides are good but forgettable next to the meat. OK, dessert. The waiter (Cliff, who was AWESOME) mentioned that they had experimented with dipping the bread in fudge when they were tasting their way through the menu, and would we like some? Yes please. That was very, very good. But we also decided to try the chocolate ganache cake, which can only be described as 'hilarious'. Do not attempt to eat one yourself -- the three of us only got through about a third of it. To give you an idea of the size of this monstrous (and delicious!) dessert, do the following: 1) Bake a 9" chocolate cake 2) Ice it up real good with ganache 3) Cut it into thirds 4) Stack the thirds on top of each other 5) Stick a full size steak knife in the top of it, like a fudgy Excalibur Yeah. So share. Service is top, top notch. Ambiance and decor are great, although it's a bit open and noisy it's not overwhelmingly so. It looks like they have outdoor seating but it's not set up (as it's January). Dinner with cocktails/wine/appetizers/dessert will hit about $70 a head with tip. But Stoney River certainly gives Ruth's Chris and Morton's a serious run for their money. Go soon, and enjoy it. Note: Reservations taken with 10 or more only, or so we were told. They also have corporate rooms with big TVs for Powerpoint etc. if you want to hold a pricey and awesome meeting.

I go here all the time and most recently took a few family members here for lunch. One of burgers did not go thru when the Server placed the order. Mistakes happen and the Server offered to take it off our bill once it arrived and that was enough to remedy the situation. The next thing I know the GM Jay Quander came over apologized and picked up our entire check! Awesome display of taking care of the customer. I certainly did not expect the whole check to be paid.

I will never go back to this place again. Spent the day shopping with my Aunt and then decided to grab a bite before going home. The menu for this place looked good enough and everyone had good things to say about it so we figured why not. Our wait was 30 minutes so we took a seat at the bar and ordered drinks. This should have been my first clue that I wasn't gonna like this place. I ordered 2 mojitos and asked the bartender if they were made fresh. She rolled her eyes and said how else would I make them. I explained to her that some bars use a (pre) mix and just add mint leaves. Obviously she didn't get a tip. Finally they called us for dinner and the wait was less than the 30 minutes they initially suggested but they put us in this small room with only 4 tables away from all the other patrons and the ambiance of the restaurant which seemed odd but we were hungry so no need to complain there. Our waitress whose name was Waverly was very personable and made up for the rude bartender at the front. She explained the specials and we ordered. I gave up meat for lent so I ordered the tomato & mozzarella salad, caesar salad, & a baked sweet potato to come out all together. My Aunt ordered the special of the night which was a filet topped with shrimp. Waverly bought us some deliciously hot poppy seed biscuits and we waited. 30-40 minutes later our meal, well pieces of our meal, began to come out. My Aunt got her 1 of her sides. Five minutes later she got her steak. 10 minutes later I got my potato. My aunt's second side then came out. Yes an hour later I'm still waiting on my salads. Waverly came over and apologized the proceeded to go find my salads. A person I assume to be the manager came over and apologized for our food coming out in pieces. I say assume because he never identified himself, just walked over to the table and started talking. Finally all our food is on the table and we proceed to eat. Of course, my aunt's steak was not cooked correctly. She ordered it medium rare and it was medium well. She showed it to the waitress who bought my salads out and she took it back. The tomatoes on my salad were soggy and gross so I just concentrated on my caesar. I mean they can't mess that up?! 30 minutes later another man, who didn't identify himself either but wasn't dressed like a waiter, bought the steak back and asked her to check it. This time is was medium but we were too tired and over it to care. When Waverly came back she apologized and said the manager was gonna take care of the steak to make up for all the issues. Then we get the check. Remember when I said my Aunt ordered the special of the night, well, on the check we were charged for shrimp. We told Waverly. She said that was from the steak. We looked at each other funny. Wasn't the manager paying for the steak so why am I being charged for the shrimp that was on the steak? We didn't order it extra. It was a special. She noticed our inquisitive look and said I will take the shrimp off but when she return the bill was exactly the same but she didn't bring back the itemized copy. She only brought back the copy that needed to be signed. I guess they thought we were slow but we noticed. Once again we were too tired and over it to care. Best part of this place, Waverly, unfortunately she is not a good enough reason to ever go back.

Went to this steak house after being unable to get into Gordon Bierch - horrible service. The waiter spilled my ice tea on me and my son- his response was, "it's just a few drops". He asked me if I liked my meal, before I could answer he was gone. I orders the tenderloin ciabatta bread sandwich..it was served luke-warm with cold fries. My mom ordered prime rib..she received 4lbs of beef and 8 lbs of fat and her food was cold, she had to return only for them to microwave her entire plate. This might not be bad if the meal wasn't $30.00 per person. The manager was uncaring and the staff was uninvolved. However the physical ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful-clean, and elagent but rustic feeling Not enough for me to return. The cost and experience outweighs the setting..not recommended if your not a gambler.

This is another place I'd like to see the rating system allow half-stars for. Last year the wife and I tried to get in here without a reservation for Valentine's Day and that clearly didn't work out (we didn't think it would). So this year I made 'reservations' in December to make sure we'd get in on Vday. Then I found out they don't take actual reservations but rather priority seating which seems to be a theme these days in restaurants. I consider it a black mark on any restaurant that is going to hit each patron on average for over $40 when they don't take conventional reservations. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table however and we were a little late - excessive to me for a "Legendary" steak house. While waiting I scoped out the decor more in detail - Stoney has a huge vaulted ceiling and the lighting is actually really well done - you can actually read your menu without being too bright or too dark. I noticed 2 plaques on the wall in the foyer - one that said "2011 Best Steakhouse - Annapolis" but didn't say who granted this 'award'. The other from our dearly beloved local food critic hack from The Capital "newspaper", Terra Walters. Her review of course was glowing as I've never seen her once review any place in town negatively (I think this is not allowed by the Capital). I could never have her job - I actually review restaurants honestly AND critically. Our buzzer went off and we were seated after a short delay. Our waitress was Sheree and she was very good. We mentioned we were first-timer's so she gave us the rundown on ordering and the 2 specials they had for the day. One + about Stoney is that the menu is completely interchangeable - you can mix/match any side with any entree. Another plus is the side dishes can be halved unlike say Ruth's Chris where you are strapped into a 12$lb of steamed broccoli for one person. I give them props here. This being a steak house I was going to run my usual steak house gauntlet on them; vodka martini, Caesar salad, and the top cut of beef they offer. The menu states their beef is 'premium' but doesn't go into detail so I asked. Sheree was very knowledgeable - answered all my questions. Stoney serves wet-aged top 8% USDA CHOICE GRAIN fed (NOT Angus) beef. I can see why they don't put this on the menu when paired with a name that uses the word "Legendary". That is decent beef - but hardly "Legendary". They by-default use their own spice rub but they at least tell you that up front. I prefer dry-aging and want to taste the beef not some house 'rub'. I carried on however and ordered the 20oz cowboy cut bone-in rib eye which was the best cut they had $33.99, the Caesar salad $5.99, and an optional side which was truffled parmesan fries (off the burger entree). The martinis are poured tableside which is kind of neat but for $9.75/pop (Grey Goose) very small - maybe 7 sips total. They use mini-martini glasses. A good steak house should include the big ones and a sidecar which equates to a 1.5 sized drink. I ordered my steak 'black and blue' / Pittsburgh style as I always do - it's the best way to really measure a steak's aging and flavor - especially true for wet-aged beef. It arrived just right and the steak wasn't bad - but it lacked any real depth of flavor and even sported some strange gristle in parts - I must have gotten one at the bottom end of the 8% of USDA CHOICE. The Caesar salad too was very small for a steakhouse and was not made to order obviously. Lacked any flavor to the dressing as well. The truffle fries had good parm flavor with shaved parm throughout but very little to no truffle flavor at all. The fries are about the size of Wendy's old half-steak fries too - I like mine better in smaller cuts. Around our area Ketchup in National Harbor has the best truffle fries I've had thus far. The wife loved the little fried donut hole poppy seed bread they served but it came with a sweetened butter which made it more of a 'dessert-first' experience for me - I didn't find them so appealing. Being a very busy Valentine's evening the managers were out and about handing out $20/off gift cards. I gave mine to a co-worker today. Stoney's was 'nice' - and deserving of an "A-OK (-)", but not worthy of patronizing again. The deal killers were wet-aged grain-fed USDA choice (top 8% so they said), the size of the drinks compared the prices, and the overall mediocre 'classic' (or in their claim "Legendary") steak house experience. This place couldn't hold water to say an Omaha Prime in NE or Sullivan's in Austin TX. Ruth's Chris is a far better experience as well and value in my book locally and in all honesty I still say The Original Steakhouse in Edgewater is the best value for the buck steak in the area. Before you even mention Lewnes' I've had back to back bad meals there and so as much of a fan base as they have in NAP I'm NOT a fan of theirs. Not remotely humbly submitted this day, D. There is nothing I love more than a steakhouse that cannot cook a steak to a proper temperature. It only took two attempts, and me eating by myself since it took so long to get the re-cook delivered to the table. The whole time I was watching my boyfriend eat the manager was at the next booth over chatting with regulars. Really? For the amount of money spent I could have gone to outback twice and had my steak cooked properly with decent service.

I frequent Lewnes and this place is equally as good. My cut is the bone-in ribeye and they have never disappointed me. Love the old-time feel of Lewnes, love the free Wifi at Stoney River so I can use my iPad. Two diametrically opposed takes on what a steakhouse should be, both have outstanding steak. No reservations here and you're gonna wait at peak times. I eat solo and early to avoid dealing with hypoglycemic rage issues. The managers are true professionals, this place is being run properly. Very fair prices especially the happy hour specials. It's not quaint Annapolis but my palate could care less.

One of the best restaurants around town. Their attention to detail is very good. Food is well presented and very tasty. I try to go whenever I have a family event or other occasion to celebrate. Lots of stars!

My wife and I went the week that it opened. Short story was that the place was very pretty, the service was great and the steaks weren't. Both were poorly cooked and returned. Manager saw what was happening, was very contrite and reduced the ticket. So we waited a few months to return, let them get the kinks out. Came back to good service, and the steaks...well, they were pretty tasty, but one of the two had to be returned for more fire. So we waited even longer, then returned last night. Same comfortable, calming, capacious atmosphere (much nicer than Lewnes and equaled in town (for steakhouses) only by the Chop House, which I've been to once and not returned). Very good service. And the steaks...well, both were undercooked and very overseasoned. Both went back for more fire, and my wife's came back overdone. So back again (I swear that neither of us is persnickety!) for a new piece of protein. And again the manager came by and was extremely courteous and helpful. When all food was finally presented, the steaks were good (I won't even mention that my wife's second fillet was undercooked, albeit only slightly...oops!). The bread served is quite nice, and served hot. If you like extremely sweet and cloying butter, you'll enjoy their cinnamon butter; if you're like me, it's way over the top but the bread actually stands on its own. It really is a nice place; another one of those microchains with a dozen or two storefronts in the southeast us. And they have lots going for them in terms of atmosphere, acoustics, service, comfort. But in the end this is a steakhouse. STEAKhouse. How in God's name can a restaurant so consistently get their temperatures wrong...on their steak?!? On the third table visit, the manager or server said something along the lines that "we do our temperatures a little differently here." If by differently they mean wrong and not what the customer asks for, he was correct. Great suggestion by someone to season your own steaks, or maybe just ask that they add 1/2 as much of everything and no MSG. [Like Lewnes...ask them to cut their aftergrill butter in half.] And be ready to send the meat back for more fire (the waiters now stand there and have you cut into it...nice touch, but I'm thinking it's just saving them a trip!). Potatoes and spinach were good, too much vermouth in the manhattan, just ok (but very reasonably priced) wine menu. I know it's damning by faint praise, but you really could do a lot worse! We will try again...maybe the mgr will allow me to stand over the grill, or they could morph into one of those "cook your own protein" places that were hot in the 80s!

Probably one of the best steak houses in Annapolis, lets jump right into the review shall we. Ambience - (1/2 Full Star) : If you come here expecting the atypical white table cloth you may be pleasantly surprised to find that it is that and more. It is a white table cloth with all the comforts of a bar and grill. The furniture a decor are great with some tables allowing you to lay back on a couch while you eat what this restaurant is known for, it's steak. With low lights candles and a huge fireplace, this is one of the best spots to take some one for a 1 on 1 date night. Plus, it being located in the very trendy Annapolis Mall doesn't hurt either. Just be careful your lady may wanna shop after the meal and if your like me, you may just want to sleep. The only downside is most of the time this place is very busy and the environment can get very loud or sometimes annoying do to the random people walking through this establishment to go outside the mall. This is something this place can't help and it's one of the annoyances of being located in a major shopping mall. Staff - (1 Full Star): Like some of my other favorite spots, the staff here is wonderful. They are always around to check on you, fill your glass or even share a few pleasantries if you wish. They always ensure you have a full glass and all seem to know the menu inside out and backwards. Unlike most steakhouses, they do try to have you experience other menu options like the Rosemary chicken (Awesome by the way) or some of their surf and turf options. Price - (1/2 Star): The place is a bit pricey and for some of the meals I didn't really understand the value versus what showed up on my plate. If you want to go here once a week you better start saving now. But I must not discount the fact that the food is very good and some dishes particularly the steaks are worth the price. Menu and Portion Size (1 Full Star): The menu options are not vast but they are good enough for you to sit down and find something your interested in. I have not had everything on the menu, but between me and my wife we have had most. You can get most of the major meats of the land and some of the sea, but if your looking for something unique you may not find it here. The portions are pretty good, but again for the price you pay it may not seem worth it in some dishes. Taste (1 Full Star): Ok, did I say the steak was great yet? If I didn't the steak is great! Did I say the chicken was great? Ok, the chicken is great! I'm not a big seafood guy but my wife will sing the praises of this places fish menu so I will take her word for it. Now, I have had better steaks, but this place does a very good job with the steaks they serve. They are tender and cooked to perfection, if your not happy with how it's cooked you can always send it back and they will fix it (though I have never had this experience here). Oh one last thing, (PROTIP): this place makes the best bread basket i've ever had, the bread they give you before the meal reminds me of small donuts, if your not careful you will be full before your meal comes, trust me they are THAT GOOD!!! Overall (4 Stars): Great steak place hidden in a mall, and honestly one of the better ones in Annapolis. Though due to high customer counts mostly due to the mall shoppers, this place is worth throwing out a reservation for on a friday night, or even stopping by while your in the middle of your shopping day. I Always drop in when im in Annapolis so you should do the same

Went here twice. The first time set the bar which was five stars. The steaks were incredible. I've never enjoyed a meal more. The wine was perfectly matched with the help of our waiter. He knew it was our first time and took great care in our service. Even the manager stopped by, Favio, and spent several minutes talking with us about bringing our family from Scotland to dine there. The next time we brought the family. Service just sucked. Our waiter never even asked if we understood the menu and differences. And he had no suggestions for wine pairing. The steaks were great though...but only after we waiting over an hour to be served. Others who were seated after us received meals before us. I was embarrassed by the service to have brought family for a special meal. Also...those sofa seating areas...yikes...felt like I was in bed and sunk down way too low. I needed a booster seat. I would not allow myself to be seated there again. But I will definitely go back. The steaks are to die for!!

First, let me qualify my 3-Star rating by saying that's good. There are several other steak restaurants in town that are better, so it didn't get a 4, and I only assign a 5 if it's the best I've ever had in a particular category (steaks in this case). I thought the atmosphere was really nice. Exactly as Nina E. describes, except in a positive light. Reminded me of one of those huge National Park lodges that you can find at Yellowstone or Yosemite. Nice fireplace and some cozy couch-like seating options available. Not sure why Nina E. is complaining about being seated at a table with extra space . . . same thing happened to me, went with my wife and was sat at a 4-top booth - felt intimate and comfortable. I agree with Nina E. that the service was VERY corporate and by-the-book, which I don't prefer. I'm sure it leads to more consistent service, but it takes away from the quality of the experience. We also had several different people come up to our table trying to remove dishes or bring us more drinks, which is normally a good thing, but in this case it was too much. They didn't know where we were in our meal or what our waitress had already provided so it was distracting more than it was helpful. Our waitress was obviously green, and maybe that's why the others were trying to help out so much, but she wasn't very good. Didn't know much about the wine list (a MUST for a steak joint) and just recommended the most expensive glasses in whatever wine category we were asking about. She gave the company scripted introduction, word-for-word I'm sure, and was just not comfortable as a server. The food was generally good. We had the Spinach and Artichoke Dip appetizer that I wouldn't order again. It was VERY generic, and was at our table 3 minutes after we ordered it, which is NOT what you expect when you order that kind of app. It was obviously just dipped out of a warmer and brought to the table without even broiling the top. But I had a perfectly cooked fillet with garlic mashed potatoes and my wife had the Sirloin Steak Salad which she enjoyed. My 12oz fillet was more like 10oz, but it was still good, and the Sirloin on my wife's salad looked over-cooked to me, but she thought it was fine.

I've heard great things about Stoney River steaks. So when a friend suggested it for dinner on a getaway weekend, I jumped at the chance. The restaurant has a nice, open feel with a large fireplace in the main dining room. Adjacent to the main dining room is a private dining room that seats about 20, and there's another private dining room for about 12 off of the bar area. Seems like it would be a great spot for small events. The service was exceptional as I anticipated it to be. I ordered the coffee cured filet that comes with au gratin potatoes and green beans. The green beans were lightly cooked so they still had quite the snap when bitten, plus they were drenched in garlic. I was definitely pleased with the green beans. The potatoes were equally delicious. I'm not sure of the cheese that was used, but they actually tasted more like homemade macaroni and cheese than they did potatoes. And finally, the steak. Ah, yes, pure delight! First of all, I've been trying to work my way down the steak temperature scale over the last few months. So, this night, I decided I needed to take it down another step to medium. And it was perfection. I never knew steak could taste this good. The filet was tender and juicy with just a hint of a coffee aftertaste. I'll won't be able to go back up the temperature scale now that I've discovered what steak should taste like. A side note about the drinks: The bartender was very generous with the spirits. I tasted just a hint of coke with my Cap'n. Just the way I like it!

So far this is my favorite Stake House, that i know! Every time I go there there customer service is the best! Management even took care of us on my brothers birthday! There complementary bread ball is AMAZING! It tastes very light a freshly made and there butter is sweet, It tastes like a doughnut freshly made! I love stakes so when i get a stake here, it's perfect! Its Crispy on the outside and prefect on the inside. The Sides are also Amazing! I always get asparagus and garlic mash potatoes and it always the best! the asparagus is firm and the potatoes are a great consistency and so flavorful. This Place is Great for a Special Occasion!

Yum! Now, I have been eating bland hotel food for the past couple of days; this definitely got me out of my rut. I stopped in for a late lunch/ early dinner - which was good because it was not nearly as crowded as other people have complained about. Anyways, my server, Ryan was absolutely delightful and attentive. Now for the food... most places just serve you bread and butter as an afterthought. Not here! The little poppy seed buns and cinnamon honey butter were like eating little doughnuts. I had a delicious tenderloin steak salad; which I felt like I should have to be somewhat healthy, but to also try their "legendary steaks". The salad was very good, the bleu cheese and pecans balanced perfectly off of each other and provided a nice oomph to the tenderloin. I had a side of truffle fries - because I can't pass up truffle fries. Anyways, it was an overall pleasant experience with good solid food - if I get back this way, I'll definitely stop by again.

I went with my family for a few conglomerated birthdays (there were three of us in a party five that all had ours recently). None of us had ever been to a Stoney River before and were looking for a new place to try. All of the comments on the decor are spot on, it's small but open and conveys the modern lodge look. Because of the lack of partitions or walls and the ability to look into the kitchen, it was a cozy feeling. Our server was fantastic, we informed her that we had never been there before and she walked us through all the little things you like to know about a restaurant you've never been to before (e.g. telling my father that the apple centerpiece was in fact a centerpiece and that the apples were not edible). She was attentive and paid attention to the little details. The meal itself was excellent, the only hiccup was an appetizer that probably shouldn't have been on the menu in the first place. I got the mountain of homemade bleu cheese potato chips. I love bleu cheese and they were good. My brother had gotten the mozzarella and beefsteak tomatoes. The tomatoes were out of season at the time and were not ripe. You could tell just by looking at it. I got the filet and it was very very very good. Legendary? Probably not, but then again, I don't throw that title around haphazardly. The prime rib was gotten by my brother and he said it was the best prime rib he's ever had and it made up for his mozzarella tomatoes and then some. My garnish that came with my filet was piping hot when it came out. Something I don't experience at most restaurants as it's usually warm but not like that. We all finished our meals and decided to try some dessert, we'd never been there before and you need to get a well-rounded picture of the establishment. We were going to split the triple-layer chocolate ganache cake and some crème brulee amongst all of us and see how they were. When they brought those desserts out, they brought out an extra three pieces of cake for us birthday people. These pieces of cake were absolutely huge and we unfortunately had to take this out of the restaurant with us. I'm not sure what these other pieces of cake were but they were excellent as well.

My family make it a point to eat at Stoney River for any special occasion. Food is very, very good. The ambiance is even better. You get really good food in a not too fancy setting. I actually ventured outside the box ( i usually get the 12 ounce filet ) and opted for the Asian inspired Salmon with Thai rice. Lets just say it was delicious and the prices are reasonable. I have yet to have a sub par expirience and certainly hope NOT to have one. I recommend calling ahead to minimize your wait time. A++ service

Somebody came by our office and dropped off some coupons for this place, so we thought we would give it a try. The first thing I must mention is the atmosphere. It is supposed to be like a lodge or something. They actually have couches pulled up to the table. Now, I am not opposed to eating on a couch. In fact most of my meals are taken on my couch. But it just seemed forced and cheesy in this situation. The bottomline when eating at a steakhouse is the meat. I had the NY strip which is a fairly standard cut. It wasn't a bad steak, but just wasn't spectacular in anyway. I guess maybe I was expecting better. It could have just been a mediocre cut of meat. I enjoyed, because I enjoy most meat. I just wasn't wowed by it. There are better places to get a steak around Annapolis, but if you are in the mall anyway this is not a bad place to go for a decent meal.

I'm having an internal argument about whether or not to award the coveted 5th star on my rating of the delightful new Stoney River Steakhouse. Honestly, I can find little fault with this restaurant. We stopped in, not exactly knowing what to expect, thinking it might be a little more in line with a Longhorn or Outback steakhouse. I couldn't have been more mistaken. Stoney River is definitely trying to compete with the heavy hitters like Ruth's Chris or Mortons, while still maintaining a price point just under those venerable locations. Their are only 11 restaurants in the chain, which hails from Tennessee. They are definitely doing things right. We were seated at a plush and comfy booth. We each ordered the house salad, which I would say was the only weak point in the meal. Typical chopped salad, using iceburg lettuce with the homemade salad dressing of your choice. Nothing wrong here, but not worth the $7 we paid for it. My steak, however, was worth every penny of the $32 I paid for it. A great big juicy rib-eye of certified Blank Angus beef, grilled to absolute perfection and served with a generous helping of caramelized onion mashed potatoes. My dining partners in crime had the Sage Roasted Chicken and the Prime Rib. Both were expertly prepared and presented. Portions are quite large and if you were a complete glutton like myself, you could easily make two meals out of one trip here. My favorite offering of the evening are there "Stone Puppies", which serve as their signature bread. Essentially, they are unsweetened poppy donut holes that come with a luscious honey butter. Our server dropped off the first basket, noting that he had included extra because he was certain we would want more. He was correct. Service was impeccable, from start to finish and the decor is simple, elegant and cozy, with a large fireplace, overstuffed sofas and an open kitchen. Perfect for a cold rainy night. So, my only hesitation with that extra star is... well...it just wasn't different enough. It was steakhouse perfection, and there-in lies the problem for me. I need something more, something different, somthing unique. ***4.5*** if I could. If you are looking for that good old steakhouse experience, this is a great place to go.

First off, we had to wait over a half of an hour for a server to speak to us even though there were only a few other people in the restaurant. We then had to get up and get a server. Then they were all over us with servers constantly apologizing for the rest of the meal. Although they did give us a bottle of good wine. It was obvious that our server had never been to a good restaurant, and did not know how to behave. So, the service was not great. How about the food? Not good. My entree cost about thirty-five dollars and as I'm writing this I'm nearly shaking from the MSG. All of my food was so over-seasoned with salt and sugar it was not too enjoyable. This meal should have been about half of the cost. I think that what you're paying for is the not so delightful corporate ambiance of eating at the mall. Although it was not my choice to go there in the first place, I will not be returning.

All of us in the family consider it a real treat to dine at Stoney River. I think others have pretty well covered the bar and dinner. I want to say a word about lunch. Stoney has the best burger around. I suggest getting their unique and legendary cole slaw as a side; I always do instead of fries.

I've eaten here on a couple of occasions, when visiting my parents in Annapolis. The decor is very ski-lodgish and cosy. Love the banquettes and fireplace. The food and table service are all top flight with this one exception and I hope it was an anomaly that night. We were a party of 7 and had reservations at 6:00pm. We arrived on time, there was one table seated in the dining room and the bar area was jumping! We waited. Ordinarily, not a big deal except that my brother is in a wheelchair and my father uses two canes. I was twice told someone would be with us. There was absolutely no staff around and it turns out they were having an employee meeting and we were told the third time that someone would be with us when their meeting was over. I've spent over 20 years in the hospitality industry and I have never, ever heard of this. I had even taken one of the staff who stuck their head out the door and pointed out the two people who really needed to be seated sooner than later. It would have taken one person less than a minute to seat us and THEN tell us someone would be with us. All that being said, the rest of the evening was great; it was just a really bad foot to get off on, but I will be back - maybe not at 6:00!

This place is as good as it gets. The food is great, the vibe is laid back and it doesn't feel crowded and cramped. I had the burger, but am looking forward to going back for a steak. Had the taste of the lamb chops which were cooked perfecly with a demi glaze that was just outrageous. Worth the trip to the Annapolis area lone. Check out the waitress Mary in the bar area..mad cool. She's there all day on Monday and said the 3pm - 7pm happy hour is an ideal time to roll in and sample a bunch of the appertizers. Eat up people!!

I have to give the owner/manager credit. After I posted a negative comment on the corporate website, he personally phoned me, apologized, and promised to make it right the next time we visit (we dined here on the one night of the week he takes off). I appreciate that, and will try it again. So my in-laws live in Annapolis, and we wanted to take them out for a nice dinner. Although this place resides in a mall, the menu looked interesting and the decor is quite nice so we gave it a whirl. I was underwhelmed from the very start. We were seated in a far flung room that reminded me of the lunch room at a nursing home. That depressing sterile light quality, a large flat screen tuned into the evening news, and few fellow diners evoked an imaginary last meal prior to a visit from Dr. Kervorkian. I said nothing, of course, as we were with the in-laws, and I seemed to be the only one in our party who cared. The food fell in line with the environs. My mother-in-law indicated that her salmon tasted and smelled as if it hadn't been motile for weeks. My filet was overcooked, and when I pointed this fact out to the waitress, she argued with me and said that I needed to cut through it's center. When I did that, and she saw a bit of pink, she said "see, it is medium." It's never good when a wait person exhibits schadenfreude as it relates to a paying customer. I could go on, but suffice it to say that it was a highly regrettable choice of restaurant. However, due to the owner's personal appeal to give it another try, I will.

Boo and sad face....If I could, I'd give this place 2.5, but being it doesn't allow that, I had to settle for the 2. Raved about this place to my boyfriend for over a year, we finally went. I was disappointed..... Ordered a salad, informed the waiter of my nut allergy, and to please, for the love, leave the nuts out of my salad. Guess what came out in my salad...and how I found out, because I ate a sliver of one. Thank goodness I am not one of those people who go into anaphylaxic shock from just inhaling the scent of nuts, else it would have been a really, really bad scene. I got the waiter, who most of the night, seemed to be away and unavailable, he brought me out another salad. I just find it odd, being people know at least about the severity of nut allergies, and that happened. Soon after our steaks came out, I got the amazing coffee cured filet, my bf got the horse radish encrusted NY strip We both asked for them to be cooked at medium rare. My steak was more of a medium, not really a medium rare. He offered to take it back and bring me back another one, but with how the entire night had gone, we had to wait a long time to get service, refill our drinks, get our bread, etc, I just didn't feel like waiting for one more thing. Besides, my bf's steak WAS cooked medium rare. I decided that it wasn't worth it, and that I'm sure the steak would still be good, being it was cured in coffee. I still don't regret not sending it back, but it wasn't anything near the steak I had last time I ate there. I really don't like to write bad reviews, but being I wrote a review on this restaurant before, I feel I should be consistent in at least what I am recommending. Maybe I went on an off-day, the waiter had a bad day, the cooks, not sure, but this time around, i am not dreaming of the day I go back to this place. Yeah, actually, I probably just won't..... But on a good note, the waiter was kind enough to being me regular bread and real butter since the bread they served there was made with margarine (which contains soy, I have a soy allergy). But then again, the bread is what makes going there worth it....

I tried and tried so I gave this place a second chance and low and behold.....it wasn't all that the 2nd time around either. Went here Feb. 2010 for a private dinner party of about 15 people and no one in the dinner part was pleased/overly excited with their meal. Went here NYE 2010 with a group of 8 or so and we all had the same reaction. The waiters and waitresses are great but the 2nd time there, someone told my friend that they closed at a certain time and when we arrived, they said that they were closed. Sorry Stoney River I won't be back.

I think this is a great concept. Expect a step up from an Outback and a step down from a Ruth's Chris. Go with a big appetite and you wind up with a great steakhouse experience that you can afford without a special occasion. There were dishes we liked and some we didn't care for as much but in general, the proteins were cooked properly, sides we tasty, and the service was good. Notably - -The burger was terriffic -Great Filet -Parmesean fries are perfect texture, but they have garlic on them (next time i'd order wihtout - not specified) -Carmelized onion mashed potatoes were slightly overpowering -Chocolate cake is rich and decadent It fills a great void if you want a good steak but don't care to splurge for prime beef.

The only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their lack of a beer selection. In focusing on a broad wine selection, they omitted carrying at least a few beers on tap. Their small beer selection is only available bottled. That is the only minor issue. This restaurant is fantastic. I have been several times and never been disapointed. My typical fare is the tomato and motzarella salad, prime rib, and potato. At my most recent visit, I split the blondie ice cream dessert with my sister. The portion was quite large and it was exceptional. I saw plenty of children in the restaurant but have not yet taken my 4 year old so I cannot comment on the kid friendly aspect of this place. Great ambience, wonderful service, and a guaranteed delicious meal. Give it a try!

My fiancee and I had dinner at Stoney River for our anniversary soon after the new year and though it was a bit pricey, the meal and service was exceptional. The decor has been described well in the previous reviews... a lodge like atmosphere. I was worried that it would look like it was part of the Annapolis mall, but it is completely separate. The kitchen is open to the dining room, which I like, but did make for some extra noise (perhaps too much for some reviewers). Overall, the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. The fireplace was a nice touch (especially on the 20 degree night we visited). The service was... well it was good, but perhaps a little too corporate/rehearsed. Our server was very attentive (except for the end when we had to wait a bit for our coffee and check, but this was due to a large table that were very slow in ordering - I don't hold this against him). However, you could tell that he had practiced his exact words many many times before in describing the steaks... This is not necessarily bad, but he seemed a little uptight. We were also greeted several times by the manager Fabiano. He was extremely friendly and a good conversationalist without becoming overbearing. However, after he visited our table the third or forth time, he seemed to begin to repeat the company lines a bit too much ("small batches", "27 days aged", blah blah...) again, not a deal breaker, but just a bit disappointing seeing that while it was good to talk to him, that he couldn't seem to think of much else to say besides what his boss was pushing him. We decided against an appetizer and were glad we did when we tried the dinner rolls. They were wonderful without being filling. My fiancee ordered the horseradish encrusted Mahi Mahi and I ordered the coffee-cured fillet. The Mahi-Mahi was a little much for me, but I'm not particularly partial to horseradish. My fiancee enjoyed it. The fillet was very interesting. I was expecting a typical spice rub with a coffee flavor, but the coffee was the dominant player. It was perfectly cooked (medium rare), and extremely tender and moist. The steak was delicious and it did not sink in until later how great it actually was... I guess while eating, it just seemed so different from the steaks I am used to eating that I couldn't fully appreciate it for what it was. I'd like to say that I would order something else if I visit again, but I may not be able to resist that coffee-cured fillet. However, even as the entrees were delicious, the best part of the meal was the espresso creme brulee. I like this desert, but rarely order it because at so many restaurants it is so uninspired. We decided to take a chance on it here and it was unbelievable. Enough to be shared by two, the crust was great but the filling was equally amazing. In other restaurants I have found that they can do a nice caramel crust, but the custard is bland. This espresso custard was outstanding. Just enough of a hint of espresso without being overwhelming. The ironic thing is, this was the cheapest desert on the menu at $5. I'm tempted to say I enjoyed this $5 desert more than my $30 steak! A note on pricing: We felt that with the dinners, we got what we paid for. Yes, it was a bit expensive (steaks start at $21 and other entrees start at $17), but the meal was worth the price. However, I was a bit taken aback when I saw that my 1 Yuengling draft was $5. I've never paid that much for a Yuengling. And then our two coffees were $7. Of course, these are nothing to get upset about on the final ticket, but it is annoying to me when classy establishments charge inflated amounts for drinks/simple staples, just to add to the bottom line. But whatever, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer about it. We had a great celebration meal and would eat here again. The only reason I did not give the full five stars is the wonderful, but somewhat unoriginal, unauthentic service.

After seing the "Atlanta Housewives" television show dine here on their show, I had to see what it was all about. 1st, I am all about great food and atmosphere and Stony River offers both. 2nd, the service has to match the atmosphere & menu prices. I hate when you go to a nice resturant and the service sucks. Prime example: You don't get a beverage napkin for your $15 drink, is a big "no-no" in my book. Thank goodness that this was not the case at Stony River. I had the spinach artchoke dip as my appitezier and the Beef Tenderlion sandwich with caramelized onions & mushrooms for my entree. It was juicy, tender and delish. In addition, it was nice to see the manager pitching in by checking on each table and backing up the servers. Our waiter was Ryan and he was attentive to our party and a delight to have as our server. My daughter had the chocolate cake (it was her birthday) and she said it was rich, creamy and moist. Did i mention that she is a chocoholic lol? The highlight of our dinner was seeing my favorite bartender Matt. If your in the mood for a good drink, he is a mixologist! Oh yeah, I all most forgot to tell you that the bread is off the CHAIN!!!! It is served piping hot with whipped butter, one word YUMMY!

Looking for a great steak but dont want to shell out $50+ for it? Stoney River is your place. Is it the best steak house on the planet? No, and its assertion to be "Legendary" might be a bit of a stretch, but what is not a stretch are the steaks. They are well prepared and the options for additions and a la carte items is fabulous. For steaks on a budget I would highly recomend this restaurant. From an environment perspective, it is dark and evocotive of a hunting lodge, but warm and inviting still.

After passing this place in the Annapolis Mall several times, I decided to take a chance on Stoney River Steakhouse for my husband's birthday a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised with the decor and the customer service. I liked the couch and table next to the fire concept. However we ended up getting seated in one of the c-shaped banquettes that night. It turned out alright because we had a nice view of the entire dining area. First up - the customer service. We had a bit of wait because we walked in around 7pm on a Friday night. However the wait wasn't terribly long and we were seated about 15 minutes after our arrival. As we were led to our table the hostess chatted us up and made note that it was my husband's b-day which I thought was a very nice touch. Our server was seasoned and really attentive which is a plus in my book. We didn't have to ask for glasses to be refilled or if we needed more bread. Plus the other wait staff pitched in by bringing our appetizers and entrees as soon as they were ready. I really can't say enough about the great customer service we received on our first visit. Next - the food. I am writing this as a relative novice on the steakhouse front, but I thought the food was really, really good. I had the beef tenderloin sandwich which was prepared per my order and confirmed during my order that my medium-well would be slightly pink (which it was). The bread used for the sandwich was lightly toasted and the fries were crisp. Hubster had the New York Strip and from his comments and the way he devoured his steak I think he was pleased with the outcome. We also shared a baked sweet potato which was served with butter and cinnamon and was DELICIOUS! My only complaint, and it is a small one, is with the dessert. But hey...this place is a steakhouse after all! Top quality desserts would have been a huge surprise for me. We had a slice of their chocolate truffle (I think) cake which was complimentary given that we were celebrating a birthday. I wasn't crazy about the taste and freshness of the cake, but I think giving it to us on the house with a candle was a nice touch. In sum, we had a great dining experience, so much so that we were still talking about it a few days later. And so much so we went back just the other night. This time the food was good, as was the service, however I think our first experience was a notch better. My husband ordered the burger and felt that he'd had better elsewhere. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich again and had no complaints. I'd definitely recommend at least giving Stoney River a shot.

So, you're going to spend some coin to come to Stoney river, but it is worth it. Great place for a date with a great atmosphere and valet so you don't have to search the mall for a spot. You MUST try the crab topping on the steaks. It will keep you coming back no matter the price. Better then Ruth's Chris in my opinion.

Go to Lewnes or Ruth Chris instead. Same prices, but not the same quality.

We dined at Stoney River in Annapolis, Md today. They officially open November 3rd, but were open for training purposes today. Stoney River Steakhouse has a look unlike most restaurants in Annapolis, Md. The decor, the atmosphere, and the staff attire are all uniform and add for a very welcoming, rustic environment. We were greeted at the door promptly and shown to our seats before our designated reservation time. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu, a little experience under her belt is all she needs. They offered a limited menu during training, but all choices were inviting. We had the Whiskey Shrimp on Country Toast as an appetizer. Presentation was beautiful. Five large butterflied shrimp served with Jack Daniels grainy mustard sauce on buttered toast. For lunch our party choose the Seared Tuna, Burger with Fries, and the Cobb Salad. The tuna presentation was good, it was undercooked per the diner's request, but the portion and quality was great. It was served with a salad. The Cobb Salad was pretty standard. The presentation was once again great. The serving utensils were a little too large for a single serving. The blue cheese was homemade and very tasty. The burger was large and served with cheese and bacon. The burger was not cooked to the diner's request. The burger was fresh, we are told they grind the meat every am. The burger was not seasoned well, actually we couldn't detect any. The burger was served with fries, which were good. The condiments were fresh but the tomato was cut 1/2 inch thick, a little too big for a sandwich. Overall, the staff was very attentive. The managers were hands on, making table visits and even had a sense of humor. Unfortunately, it was a working day, so we were unable to partake of the bar. I am sure after they work out the kinks, Stoney River will be one of the best places to dine in Annapolis. I am looking forward to their opening to enjoy a piece of their Ganache Chocolate Cake.

OMG--I can't believe someone compared this place to Lewnes!!! They must have gone to a different place than I did...I REALLY hated this restaurant--from the b**** who seated us, to the constant clanging of things being dropped in the kitchen--the persistent annoying noise--the VERY mediocre food, and the ridiculous prices. The only positive thing I can say about our experience was that we liked the very sweet waitress who was so eager to please. We will definitely not be back--ever!

I've been to Stoney River two times so far, and both times I've come out feeling irritated. First of all, their decor is just confusing...the space has soaring ceilings and sort of a slick, urban feel yet it looks like they're also trying to go for some kind of rustic cabin look at the same time, because there is a canoe hanging from the ceiling, wall hangings made with rough-hewn birch branches, and large landscape paintings on the walls. I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be cozy or cavernous. I think cavernous wins--both times I've been there I was in a party of four but we were seated at tables that could easily hold six, even with their oversized chairs. It was very un-intimate and we all felt like we had to talk loudly across the big space to each other. The place just has a corporate feel to it. I'd much rather go to Lewnes. The first time I was there I had the Steak Diane, and it was fine if a bit salty, but the sauce that came with it was an assault on the palate--totally salty and possibly even sweet at the same time, no subtlety whatsoever. I read in another review that they use msg, and I believe it because everything has a weirdly fake taste to it. The fries were batter dipped then fried...not much of the potato flavor came through, just salt and possibly more msg. For dessert I had their fudge brownie sundae, which was a sickeningly sweet, half-cooked, gooey mess, and not in a good way, it was just gross. Two of my dining companions ordered fish, which came with sauteed greens and a pyramid of white rice on the side. I thought that for the price you should get a somewhat more interesting form of carby deliciousness--like risotto or at least a pilaf--on the side instead of just plain white rice with your fish...how boring. The second time I went I had horseradish-encrusted halibut. I ended up scraping the horseradish encrustation-stuff off because it was greasy and mealy, and the taste of horseradish clashed disturbingly with the halibut. Cold, withered green beans on the side, along with caramelized-onion mashed potatoes. The potatoes had a strongly buttery taste that seemed artificial, but the worst thing about them was that they had added SUGAR, and a lot of it. In mashed potatoes, for crying out loud! Not one note of actual potato flavor came through at all. For dessert, cheesecake straight outta SYSCO. This is fake, BAD food made by people who don't know about real food at all. I guess I shouldn't expect better from a mall restaurant though, but I will certainly not go back voluntarily. Oh and speaking of fake, the same can be said of the service.

Best steak I've had in a long, long time. I ordered the cowboy cut rib eye cooked medium and it was cooked to perfection. Very tender and high quality. Wife had the lodge filet and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were very cheesy and lots of garlic. A bit pricey but the ambiance and quality of the food made it worth it. The fried bread with honey butter were more sweet than savory... kinda like mini doughnuts.

My wife and son and I dined at Stoney River Steakhouse this past Saturday night and we were all terribly disappointed. Every dish... potatoes. mushrooms, spinach, steaks... were so heavily salted and seasoned that they were virtually inedible. We were told that MSG is used and I specifically asked that it not be used because I have severe reactions to it...which I did in fact experience later that night. I go to, and enjoy, steak houses a great deal, but I'm in a demographic that is very conscious of things like sodium intake. At $200 a pop for a meal, Stoney Creek River needs to be aware of who can afford to eat there...usually people in my demo. Ask them for no seasoning and then add your own!

Good steak, but expensive. Prepared as requested, nice atmosphere, but the prices did not match the quality.

(5)Wendy K.
Great experience! Service was great and food was amazing! Filet minion and prime rib was perfect! Loved the shrimp appetizer as well as the lobster bisque!! I will definitely be going back! I would recommend this restaurant!!
(5)Chelsea C.

This place is AMAZING!!!! Good drinks and food!!!! The steaks are amazing... I come here very often....

(4)Mr J.

(4)William G.
(4)Michael K.
Enjoy

Food was EXCELLENT! Nice atmosphere (lighting could be a tad bit brighter---don't forget your eyeglasses). Reservation time was honored with no wait on a busy Saturday evening.

(5)Dawn R.
YUM!!!! First of all, adding the caramelized onions to the mashed potatoes is pure genius! And the coffee rub/soak for the steak.....well, you just have to try it to understand it. I don't really know what else to say except "Go there!"
(5)Chris H.
I came here with my family . I ordered the legendary steak for 38 dollers and it was well worth it, waiter was friendly management was great.. we drove 1 hour and im satisfied. .. thanks alot STONEY RIVER LEGENDARY STEAKS
(5)Joe P.
(5)Doris L.

(5)C A.
(3)Tony P.
Love, love, love the food here. Everything is delicious, especially the 'Coffee Cured Filet'. The mashed potatoes are great as well as the Key Lime Pie. If you are in the area, definitely a good meal.
(5)Candice D.
It was my first time there last night. We had an you wait but so did other places. So, we opted to wait. The service was great as our main waiter and other staff were very attentive. The waiter was very knowledgable about the menu. He said everything they make in-house except for the steaks. We started off with a gas of Prisoner wine, which I love and it was great to see they had it. It's a red blend. They bring out bread which is like a fried dough bread with a honey cinnamon butter. For appetizer, we had deviled eggs, which was delicious. It was made with a home-made cucumber relish and topped with carmelized bacon. It had a nice kick of cayenne and dusted with black pepper. For main entree, we had the ribeye and haricot vert. The ribeye was marbles just right and topped with herbed butter. The haricot verb was sautéed in a garlic herb butter mixture. Yum! The menu comes with awesome sides you can choose. They have various potatoes - would've tried it but I wasn't having carbs. The other entree was salmon glazes with a Szechuan sauce with steamed baby spinach and jasmine rice. Again, you can swap out aides. So, we had asparagus instead of the rice. The vegetables were done just right. And, the salmon was nice and tender and the glaze was good, not too sweet or spicy. We saw desserts come out and they looked wonderful and quite a big portion. Even the people we sat near were engaging. I'd definitely come back.
(4)Christian C.
(2)Rob B.
(4)Robert S.
(1)Matthew N.
The coffee cured filet was one of the best steaks I've ever had. This place is better than all the other steak houses in Annapolis. I just think people overlook it because its located at the mall.
(5)Amy K.
(4)Amy C.
This is my favorite steakhouse. Mostly though, we reserve it for special occasions, like today, my birthday. My husband always gets the Caesar salad as an appetizer . I've tasted it, like every time we go, and the dressing and croutons taste homemade. My favorite steak is the coffee cured filet. It has ridiculous flavor and it's always cooked perfectly for me. My husband gets the lodge filet and adds steak sauce, but whatever. I get a baked potato , which , if you're a potato lover, the coarse salt on the skin just makes it delish. Hubby gets garlic mashed potatoes and he really can't stand too much garlic, so they must be just right. BUT... The best part is, they have creme brûlée for dessert! Not very many places have that, so in my book, this place is divine!
(5)T C.
(5)Kem W.

(5)Danielle L.

Love love loved this place. The decor w/fireplace was so nice and romantic! The steaks were great. Our waiter was attentive and recommended and awesome bottle of wine. Two thumbs up.

So far so good the bread is pretty awesome

(1)Dominique T.

(3)Chaz C.
An all over good dining experience restaurant. Great for dates and groups.
(4)Chris M.
Went here about 4hrs ago. My husband got the cowboy cut ribeye oscar which he really liked. Next time hes gonna get just a ribeye like our daughters did. They loved them, med rare cooked to perfection. I like a leaner cut so i got the coffee crusted filet something. Omg yummo!!! Im not sure ill try a different steak. I gad the smallest amount left and had to take it home with me bc its so good. We got shrimp toast for ap. yumyumyum. We also got shrimp cocktail nice big shrimp. All our sides we good. Drinks were good. Not weak! We will return. Everyone very nice.

(5)Rae M.
LOL!

I love this place. Ambiance, food and service is fantastic.

Coffee-Cured Filet Mignon was AMAZING!!!!! The steak was cooked exactly as I requested it. The server was very attentive to our every need.

Food Snob, PhD

The food is GREAT! The lemon drop martini....GREATER!!!!! The bartenders were awesome...and the regulars welcome you on Wednesdays!

(1)David S.

A++ to management. Service spot on. Menu good, food very good, not plain, not over the top either... Just perfect. Ambiance very nice. Will definitely be back!

Extremely impressive. The Prime Burger is an incredible value. Pair that with great Steaks and exceptional service - What a find.

(2)Drew M.
Great service but the steak was just OK but nothing special. The sides and salads were good too. We were a little disappointed. For the price it should be better.
(2)Nicole M.
Food is really good, but a little pricey for being in the mall. Bar is small, but has a good happy hour crowd.
(3)Crystal B.
(2)Geoff E.

We will definitely not be back--ever!

the best steak in Annapolis.
