Healthy Meal suggestions for Old Country Buffet

This one is a favorite with our kids (though they do overindulge here, so this is not the usual pick with our family). I do like the salad bar, which has enough healthful options that you can actually eat a pretty good meal here if you take caution about what you pick. There is no reason to expect top drawer food for these prices, but it is a pretty good value. I have found the grill food pretty good, and the fried chicken, while not very good for you of course, is a tasty indulgence. The desserts are inexpensive and overly sweet. You might regret it if you eat more than a small serving. But they do offer small portions, which is a good thing. Know what you're going to get, and you should enjoy it.

The food is typical buffet food but one plus is that the salad bar is extra fresh and tasty as well as the service being great!! everyone is really friendly and helpful I have zero complaints it's a buffet what do you expect everyone knows his food is not going to be five star but it is edible as for me I enjoyed the salad had a big cup of lemon water and the cottage cheese was yummy with the fresh fruits they had (another plus I got to eat as much watermelon ad I wanted yummmmy)

They get 2 stars for trying - though the food overall is appalling. The salad bar is manageable, but the fried chicken was drier than the bones it was clinging to, the bbq ribs had a funny taste to them, and even the yeast rolls - which I thought couldn't be messed up - had a taste to them that is not generally associated with bread. The mandarin orange chicken was all breading and also had a very strange flavor. Needless to say, I didn't eat much. However, they do have an Icee machine and when we went on Father's Day, they were rolling around a giant sheet cake and giving slices to the fathers. And the bread pudding wasn't half bad. And they have caffeine free diet coke, which is often hard to find. And their horseradish sauce tasted good. I'd never willingly go back, but if that place is your sort of thing - and you're looking for quantity over quality, I could see how it could be enjoyable.

Gross! Food is terrible. Bad cafeteria food. Yuck! Don't get me wrong...I like cafeteria food...but the only flavors available here are gross and grosser. Save yourselves!

Honestly, reasonably priced, nice variety, friendly staff and always an enjoyable experience . Don't be afraid that it is a buffet - good stuff.

Do not go to this location. The food is sub par to appalling. I know going into a "American Buffet" I would expect buffet type food. But come one it was embarrassing. The selection of food which to choose from is very limited. I went at lunch this time but I've been also at breakfast time (weekends only) and dinner time too. I went back today cause I wanted to give it another shot thinking this would be the time that they redeemed them selves. Boy was I wrong. I couldn't really decided once again from the small amount of choices (to me most of the choices were dinner type items not items you want to be eating for lunch) so I went to the taco bar and said what the heck let me made a taco salad and I grab a deep fried taco shell that was was laden with grease you could see it and taste it as well. Other people in my party that were with me also went and made a taco salad and found the same thing to be true for them as well. But the content of the salad was good even though my wife was forced to get taco type chicken meat instead of ground beef that she wanted cause they let taco beef mixture run dry/out. But when she went back a second time they finally filled the ground beef up and she was able to get a taco salad with ground beef which is what she wanted the first go around. Which she well tell ya was the highlight of her experience there. I would have to agree with her. I ate the pizza they made and it was so nasty because it was doughy and under cooked to the point that it could made you sick if you ate it. I even told the server about it he took the pizza back to the kitchen and told the kitchen manger which is what he was supposed to do. But nothing was done. Plus the food was lukewarm. They even invited me to take a survey which I did and got a called like I asked but sadly the basic response was I'm sorry sir but corporate has our hands tied or our older crowd likes that (not thinking anything of the younger crowd 20-50 demographics). To me they could have at least done something like given me a free dinner coupon or said I'm sorry you felt that way sir let me get your receipt number so I can refund you the price of your meal for today. That way it would have entice me to want to go back. Who knows I might just have. Sadly nothing of the sort was done. But would I go back no I wouldn't even though I use to love this place. I would try to hit a Old Country Buffet every chance I got growing up why cause they were good. But not now they have slid down hill and even off the ledge to there OWN death (no one helped them do that but them selves which I find kind of sad). THE ONLY THING GOING FOR THEM is a server named Romanrell he is the highlight of any ones dinning experience there. He greets you with the warmest of smiles and is always right there to lend a helping hand or to listen to you. You feel like he is one of the family the way he treats you. But sadly the price you pay now days for the quality you get from OCB is a RIP OFF.

Lowest quality food possible. Over processed food. White bread. Disgusting. Even the salad bar tasted like it absorbed the flavor of the refrigerator. Not worth it.

Awesome reunion with my family today. Good was good. Most of the wait staff were wonderful. One told us we were in the way. Hmmph. Three stars instead of four for that one.

Ok, let's get this right out front. I don't do buffets, or all-you-can-eat places. I love food, and I know my weaknesses and limitations, and at my age, my thighs just can't take it anymore. But the GF ran a fantastic half-marathon, and needed volume over substance. And she had a coupon, so away we went. This is a BIG place, and it was still jammed full of people on a weekend night. My advice - go with the classics - the BBQ, the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, etc. A lot of those things they do really well. Stay away from the ethnic foods. You'll leave full, if not entirely satisfied. No gripes about the place, though, or about the service. It's a buffet - you're either into this or you're not.

Two dollar signs for freaking OCB? Y'all some cheap muhfuggahs. Ten $ including drink is NOT 2 stars peeps. The place is clean, the food is fresh. Eat wisely. Don't carb load. Lean protein green veggies.

If you don't know what you want for lunch or dinner, this is the place to go. You can choose a little of this and/or a little of that.

meh. Clues could've been the fact that it's a buffet, next to dollar store but that's also the pros. (yo, that dollar store is AWESOME). That said, the food is mediocre. I can see OCB being a deal if you are really hungry and with family (maybe). There are a bunch of food options and a slushie machine. My favorite section is the taco bar (I know, I know, it's easy and cheap to make at home... but I'm lazy), the ice cream/dessert bar and slushie machine. There's a pretty decent salad bar and sections for fried food and pizza. The pizza looked like school pizza... I wasn't adventurous. While this was not a grand culinary experience, it wasn't expected to be. All in all, it was good. The customer service was great though. The folks at the cash register and the nice lady that cleans the tables were courteous. In fact, the lady that cleans the table had a smile on her face even though OCB was packed and she was uber busy. I made sure to leave her a tip cause she was busting her tail.

I had breakfast at Old Country Buffet with the church bus trip 09/03/11. It was pretty good. They had LARGE QUANTITIES of everything. Eggs, bacon, home fries, grits, pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelet station, fruit bar, bacon, sausage (link, patty, kielbasa, and gravy), ham, white bread, wheat bread, english muffins, bagels, muffins, and (to my surprise) a taco bar. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a full-on taco bar at 7:50 am. Ay dios mio. What the hell. I got a little nacho cheese, salsa, and sour cream on my eggs. Made for an interesting change. Let me not forget the beverage station. They had coffee (SBUX has nothing to worry about), tea, iced coffee, latte things, sodas, juices, they had it all. Also, as mentioned, it was 7:50 am. OCB opens for breakfast at 7:30 am, so our modest, quiet church bus tour group was among the few parties in there. We practically had the whole place to ourselves. Man, oh man. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I love breakfast. And this place played right into my greasy little hand. As much as I am slightly ashamed to admit it, I'm a fan of the breakfast at Old Country Buffet.

I have actually been kicked out of OCB. My friends and I met here for a meeting (I was in trouble like 5 words into that sentence), and said meeting ended up taking over 5 hours (blueprints to go over, etc). At the 5 hour mark, we got kicked out. The food isn't bad. It's a buffet. You can't expect too much. It's like a low-class Sizzler (and I say that ironically. but not). lol. The atmosphere is sorta...not either. I think it's going for "homey" but I can't really tell. But I managed to get kicked out. Nice, huh?

Cool spot & the kids love it. Your typical 'family buffet' joint. Food is decent, although some nights the special entree and dessert options are better than others. Price is decent for what you get. Service staff is always pleasant and attentive. As long as the kids want to keep going, I'll keep taking them. But I'd never go solo.
