Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Just an above average Mexican restaurant. Food is good and reasonable priced, Margaritas will knock you on your ass, and its a relaxed environment, perfect for a casual dinner, short date, or happy hour.

Shrimp massacred and overcooked so as I could send a bounce pass off of them to my wife with my credit card. I did. It happened. Ordered well done burger got something else entirely. Noticeably cut corners on produce. The product given does not reflect the community, or shouldn't. Staff were good, food below mediocre.

Amazing Mexican food in the area. Fast service. Loved it. The wings are amazing. Huge portions. Will be back soon

Stopped by here for lunch today and all I can say is, we couldn't eat the enchiladas. I got 2 ground beef enchiladas wrapped in a corn tortillas as they should be. My lunch partner got 2 cheese enchiladas wrapped in flour tortillas. What? Real enchiladas are wrapped in corn tortillas. I did notice there were few people here considering it's location and it was still around lunch time. We have been here in the past and the food was pretty good. I don't know what's changed. The owners have fixed the place up with new exterior doors and brightly painted walls.

One late Sunday afternoon my husband, a non-Mexican cuisine lover, had a craving for fajitas. I on the other hand love all Mexican food! The Cantina wasn't packed, but busy enough. We grabbed a table, ordered $3 Margaritas and perused the menu. Soon enough we ordered, munched on chips/salsa, which should be complimentary, and waited for our meals. The waiter was good, offering suggestions including the beef chile Rrellenos, which I included in my combo meal. Dinner arrived, my plate first and my husband remarked that this is why he doesn't like Mexican food, because its all slapped on the plate. Next, his sizzling platter and plate of accompaniments arrived. Gorgeous! I took one bite of CR and was in heaven!! The CR was not battered and deep fried as typically prepared, which if done correctly is awesome, but if not, awfull! This was more a stuffed pablano covered in a rich red sauce and cheese! Delicious! And, the fajitas were outstanding, exactly what he was hoping for! We will be back to the Cantina for early Sunday dinners in the future!!!

So, yelp said this place was closed today but my husband and I just ate there. It was clean and the service was great. If you like spicy the jalapeño poppers are awesome but pricey. It $9 for an order of four. My husband got the fish tacos and asked for blackened fish instead of fried. They were great! I ordered the Chesapeake chile relleno and would not order that again. The sauce tasted more like marinara than ranchero and there was barely any crab and shrimp. The shrimp were cleaned well, however, which doesn't always happen at Mexican restaurants. So I would try some of the other shrimp dishes.

Ehhhh. I dunno about you, Broadneck. The bar area seems nice, clean, updated... The dining room seems drab, dirty, awkward. The bathroom is dark and you have to go through the pretty untidy servers area to get there. Dark bathroom in an already not so clean area...makes me think you're hiding dirt. Ewwww. Anywho, this is definitely a Mexican restaurant. They should just call themselves the Broadneck Cantina. They do NOT have virgin margaritas, so if you're pregnant, a recovering alcoholic, not a fan of alcohol, under the age of 21, allergic to alcohol, DD for the evening, you're pretty much told to fuck off. Which just strikes me as so unbelievably bizarre. I understand if you have a batch of pre-made margs, but you seriously can't take some Rose's lime juice, triple sec, and ice, buzz it around for a few minutes and make a customer happy? The dining room had several tables open, but they sat us right in the middle of the thoroughfare so people and servers were banging into my chair and bag the duration of the meal. They were cleaning up what was clearly a large party and using the little carpet swiffer to get the crumbs, but the staff was so busy chatting, it was left conspicuously next to another diner...so much so that I saw her turn to her left and make a "why the eff is this here?!" face. Ordered a steak quesadilla, got chicken. I was too hungry to argue. The chips tasted stale. Honestly, I don't think the prices are that good - $16 for fajitas (which my husband said were good), $12+ for tacos...if they knocked the prices down to make it compatible with what you get and the environment you ate it in, this review would be completely different. Our server was very nice, but that's only part of the equation.

I've been in a few times, and while I've had both positive and neutral experiences, I've never really had a bad one. The wait staff are, for the most part, attentive and friendly. The food is average, although the cream cheese chicken enchiladas are delicious, and the fajita salad is great after a rough workout at the gym. It's not a place that would be my first choice, but if a friend says "let's meet up at the Cantina", I'm in!

This is a pretty good casual dining restaurant. Here's a summary: - service - friendly and fast - atmosphere - cozy, somewhat outdated look but well maintained - food - oddly focused on mexican, somewhat mediocre but tasty - price - inexpensive This is a fine place for lunch, but a mediocre place for dinner. Note that it won't be a bad experience, just don't expect anything special.

Really would you know this place was mexican food from the name? to tell you the truth I've been here about 3 times and yesterday will be the last as I feel it's over priced for what you get. in this area your sort of stuck with options of where to eat unless you go out side CSC so drive 5 or so miles out and get some really good food because it's not here. I had a grilled fish the was so thin I could not really taste it on the bun it was laid on they left the pit green stem in the tomatoe and you really can't screw up salad. it's been striked from my list

We decided to take a drive to Annapolis (from Baltimore) this morning with our two kids after reading all the 5-star reviews. The 45 minute drive was cute and nice (we took route 2 instead of the 95's), the meal on the other hand was not. I personally found everything very average. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. I think the corned beef hash was homemade but had a bit of a funky taste -- still since it was seemingly homemade -- bravo. My eggs were OK. My homefries were just OK too. My wife got the chesapeake eggs benedict. She said the hollandaise tasted off to her and the crab was most-definitely canned -- which on the bank of the Chesapeake is like a butcher selling SPAM. Overall - cute bar area but very average and in some cases sub-average food. We'll make the drive again soon -- just eat somewhere else.

One of our favorite places. Fast and friendly service. Very accommodating to families and young children. Food is tasty but not exceptional, but one could easily find several satisfying meals there as we have. Prices have increased a fair amount over the last few years. Quintessential local neighborhood eatery.

The mexican food is on par with Chevy's in Annapolis except Chevy's is slightly better. The staff is often slow and there are always young staff who make mistakes. But if we can't get to Chevy's due to Severn River Bridge traffic, this is a good substitute!

Excellent Mexican menu and good variety. This restaurant is very family friendly and just renovated. Try their strawberry daquiris and their fajitas!

the description says it best. MEH. I couldn't get any of the items I originally wanted because they "pre make the mix" WTF? pre make the mix? premake mix for a quesadilla? so I resorted to my stand by: Fajitas and a nice bowl of tortilla soup. I was with my girlfriend and my two grandparents. My shrimp fajitas came 10 min before everyone's food and then when their food arrived my tortilla soup arrived? that's a immediate send back Im not even sure why they bothered. I would be willing to give it another shot as we were sitting at the bar and it was busy.

This is one of those cute little places. It's right by where my parents live (NOT Cape), so we used to go here all the time. It's an adorable little family-style restaurant. The food is good, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the service is the same. Very low key, great place to go with the kids. Something on the menu for everyone.

Service was a bit slow but the wait was worth it! Had the rosita appetizer with the Guac and the fajitas. Everyone really enjoyed the meal.

The food in the restaurant has always been ok, but the restaurant was a bit seedy and we only went there if we were short of time and couldn't be bothered to drive down to Annapolis. Now the new 'lounge' area has opened and Cape St Clair finally has a much needed local bar where we can drop in for a beer and a bar snack. I hope it expands the concept into the restaurant area which really needs a facelift.

Went with a group of 6 last night on 'Taco Night'. I've been here several times mostly out of convenience of location. While part of a loosely connected 'chain' of 4 restaurants around the county, Broadneck Grill definitely has a 'mom and pop' type feel to it. Our night included the obligatory screaming child in the high chair only 6 feet from our table. Nonetheless no one goes here expecting fine dining or haute cuisine atmosphere - it is what it is. We started with margaritas and a round of queso and chips. The queso here is pretty bland - definitely not classic queso fundito - think melted velveta with tomatoes in it - needed some (a lot) of hot sauce and could have used some cilantro. Most of my group got the all you can eat tacos (on taco night 8.95 - chicken or beef - soft or crunchy). I sampled one and it was quite good - they are good sized tacos so I'm not sure how many all you can eat an average consumer could actually consume - I didn't see anyone have more than 2. I got the Broadneck Sampler which was 2 stuffed jalapenos, beef nachos, and cheese quesadillas served with sour cream and guacamole. Not sure if they make their own guacamole but like their queso it's really bland - virtually tasteless. Their stuffed jalapenos are quite good and stuffed with chicken instead of the usual cream cheese. They were the star of my plate as the nachos and quesadillas were not suprisingly unremarkable. The menu here is continental but with a heavy mexican theme. The only problem I have is the mexican food they have here is really only a cut above taco bell quality in terms of authenticity. They have 2 choices of Chile Rellenos which is about as authentic as they dare to be - this is probably commensurate with their general customer base which probably is far less adventurous than I am. I've never had a bad meal here but then again I've never had a good one either - this is a great place for families with children interested in modest priced quantity over quality stomach stuffing. Not my kind of place at all and not a place I'd seek out intentionally. I will give them thumbs up for very good service - 'taco night' is quite busy and we had the biggest table - aside from a couple of empty water glasses now and again they were spot on with service and have been every time I've been here. Broadneck Grill will appeal greatly to Joe Six-Pack or the Simpsons type family but not to the Food Snob! ;)
