Unfortunately I have to rate the restaurant a 2. I am currently sitting at my table waiting on the bill. We had too wait 15 minutes to be served and now 15 minutes to get check. The food was really good. But when the service is this bad the food has to be fantastic! Which it was not. We have decided to not come back. Maybe it was just our waiter, but there are many choices to choose and they lost our business. I will let my local friends know as well.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon with my boy and my pup. It's in a strip mall and the outdoor seating is a little strange (just tables on a sidewalk area), but we had a nice time. The coolest thing about this place is they have something called Bark-B-Que for dogs. You get a bowl of organic kibble with the choice of pork, brisket, or chicken. I got my pup pork and it was gone in about 30 seconds. My only issue with the Bark-B-Que is that I wish it came in different portion sizes based on what size dog you have. I have a Boston Terrier and his portion was for a Great Dane. It was a great amount for the price but I ended up having to take some of it away from him so he wouldn't get a belly ache. Now on to the people food...I got the Pork Belly BLT with homemade chips. Loooooooved the pork belly bacon. My boyfriend got the pulled pork with collards and fried corn. I tried the fried corn and if you haven't had it, you should try it because everything is better fried.

It was ok. The atmosphere was nice, servers were nice and the service was fast. It has limited seats so being able to turn over quickly is probably good for them. The food on the other hand was just OK. We ordered a couple of apps and 5 entrees. We had the shrimp and grits ( lacked salt, butter and cheese, the shrimp were huge and wrapped in bacon however the bacon was not fully cooked) a full rack of St Louis style ribs( they were really fatty and lacked flavor. I had to slather them with additional BBQ sauce. ) we had the shrimp salad sandwich and the naptown sandwich, which we could find no fault in. Overall this is a good place to pick up a quick bite to eat but it's a one and done place for us.

I had the best wings I've ever had tonight. And I'm from Buffalo. If you even think you know BBQ you don't know BBQ until you eat at this joint. The staff is all heart; they genuinely, passionately care. And that makes the difference. The prime rib and brisket was almost better than sex. Dude! I said "almost!" Attention all foodies and foodie-wanna-be's. Get your butts in here. You'll walk out in awe. Oh, and stuffed.

As a former Naptown resident, I wanted to love this local spot. I've given it the benefit of the doubt on several occasions and it just does not live up to the hype. I've had brunch served cold. Barbecue is so-so. Crab dip is awful. They get the 3rd star b/c the drinks are tasty and they are on Open Table.

I was looking for a place that has good BBQ and I think I have found it. The menu features a nice amount of BBQ plates, but they also have other dishes as well. Overwhelmed with my options, I decided to go with the combination platter, which allows you to choose three meats and two side orders. I went with the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork for the meats and collards and sweet potatoes as the sides. The meats were so delicious and tender. The greens were also very tasty and seasoned well. The sweet potato could have used something, but wasn't a disappointment. The restaurant has a variety of sauces for the meats that include BBQ sauce, hot sauce, and mustard. They also had a bourbon sauce that I was not too fond of. Besides the food, the service was pretty good. Upon entering it was a bit awkward, because there were two employees at the entrance who initially just looked at us, but then finally offered assistance with being seated. After that it was smooth sailing. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She also came by the table enough to check on our satisfaction with everything, but not too much that it became annoying. I was told that in the evenings, the bar area gets pretty crowded. I went around 5pm on a Saturday and there was a good amount of people in that area. If you would like to have a peaceful dinner, AVOID that area. Overall good place and old people. I will definitely be going back to try some of the other menu options.

Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Fantastic beer selection, great service, and the food is on point. The fried green tomatoes are a must. I am told that they have THE best bbq in town. As a vegetarian, there are still plenty of options for me - the salads are fresh, flavorful and crisp. Plenty of parking. Just about 2 miles from downtown - this makes it an ideal spot to watch a ballgame with the locals, then wrap up your night sitting by the water downtown.

One word: AWESOME! Tender ribs, excellent pecan pie. A little on the pricey side but our server, Brandy, is AMAZING!! Drinks are strong. Food is plentiful.

Tried this place for the first time this afternoon. It was ok. Started with the onion rings which were huge, but did not have the best ratio of onion to coating. I felt like I was eating a lot of batter and ended up using a fork and knife to cut off the extra. (It's the first time in my life I've ever used a fork for an onion ring.) They also could have used an extra few seconds in the fryer as diners at my table described them as "doughy." Maybe that's how they are supposed to be served? My beef brisket sandwich was tasty and had a good amount of beef on it. I found two sauces on the table that complimented the meat well. And bonus points for having the beef trimmed well. There is nothing worse to me than biting in to a huge blob of fat on my sandwich. The potato chips that it was served with also were very good. I believe I saw they are made in house. One diner was extremely disappointed with their meal which was the special for today. I do not remember what it was called and my receipt just lists it as "pork special" but it was promoted as a combination of bacon, pork shoulder and another pork product, thick sliced and served with peppers and mustard. What he received was a very small amount of sliced meat on the sandwich, that resembled the thinness of deli meat. Nowhere close to the description. He ultimately described it as a "fancy ham sandwich." If offered this special, I would avoid it, especially at $13. Speaking of value, compared to many of the other BBQ places in our area, the cost here is high. My $12 brisket sandwich was served with potato chips and slaw on the sandwich. I had to pay an extra $4 for a side of potato salad. And $2 for iced tea. So $18. My bill is never that high when I go to Adams or even the fast casual places like Mission or Dickeys for the same amount (sometimes more) food. Yes, my brisket was tasty, but is it multiple dollars more tasty than the other places? I'm not sure. Service was excellent. Kate or Katie was our server and she kept our glasses filled and did an overall excellent job. Our food arrived quickly. The restaurant seemed clean and even with a bit of construction happening all around the restaurant, we found plenty of parking. I'm open to try this place again. And even though my experience today was middle of the road, I would tell others to give them a try.

If you like jalapeño poppers and smoked meats then you must order their stuffed jalapeño poppers. They are the best thing ever and I always get them when I go. If you can't decide what type of meat to order then get the sampler platter, it is so much I always have to take at least half my meal home to eat the next day. Also, lots of different styles of bbq sauce to try out too, I believe they have about six kinds. My favorite smoke bbq place of all time! Nice lovely atmosphere on the weekends too! Always hoppin with people especially during football season.
(5)Cherry M.
Second time at this place and it does not disappoint. Good and fast service. This restaurant has a bar like atmosphere. The food and drinks can be a bit pricey but worth it! I only wish my food was a little hotter but other then that can't complain. Definitely be going back!
(4)Frank R.
Great food and very friendly staff! Had the pulled pork perioges and they were cooked to perfection. The Texas hash was also delicious. Great selection of BBQ sauces too!

This place was awesome.. Currently I think the shopping center is under construction but don't let that change your decision. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the evening. Which was nice but don't expect a nice view. Inside was very clean and well decorated.. Staff was very nice and attentive. We were starving after spending all day walking downtown Annapolis. Btw this is worth the drive! We got the Korean egg rolls for an app! There are only two so if you have a bigger party this may not be enough for all but certainly very delicious the pulled pork inside was very delicious. For entrees I got the sampler with Kielbasa, quarter chicken and Brisket... I honesty can't say which was better because it was all delicious. You get 2 sides with that and they had a good selection, I was disappointed they didn't have a baked potato but they had mashed potatoes which were excellent. My boyfriend got the shrimp and grits! Seriously this is food you something you eat when your in heaven.. It was EXCELLENT though that doesn't even really cover it... They have a great selection of food on the menu which is why we chose this place not JUST seafood, JUST burgers, JUST BBQ.. Good Portions too.. Def left with a doggy bag... I hope you chose this place! ENJOY!!

My favorite BBQ place in Annapolis. Friendly service and great food. Lots of creative menu options to choose from. The place has a nice locals feel to it. The owners are wonderful people and I'm so happy they brought some new flavors to the area. The decor could use some work... A few things seem a little dated, but its a cool space and I noticed they're getting more art pieces up on the walls. That rustic barn look would work great here. Distressed wood and Edison lights, stuff like that would bring some warmth. But that's all aesthetics, their food is awesome and that will always keep me coming back.

Pulled into lot on a whim at just about 5 pm. Seated immediately and attended to by Gene fairly quickly. As this was our 1st visit, he took the time to review the draft list and made suggestions on menu items. Started out with the naked wings on his recommendation to use the table top variety of sauces to flavor. Wow!! They were great. Hot & crisp with plenty of dipping sauces to use. Don't miss these. I had the full rack of ribs, not over seasoned, and literally fall off the bone juicy. Brussel sprouts cooked to perfection with hint of Bacon flavoring and green beans thick, crisp and perfect. My wife had the beets salad topped with perfectly cooked and seasoned brisket. Melted in your mouth. All made tastier by the ice cold Breckenridge Agave wheat pints. A deal at the happy hour $4 price tag. Can't recommend this place any higher. In fact, drove by the 4.5 star rated place we planned on going to until we saw the 20 person line outside waiting to get in for 530pm opening. Make THIS place your dinner stop and you won't be disappointed!

I think I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to BBQ, so maybe that is why I left Annapolis Smokehouse feeling so completely unimpressed by what I'd just eaten. Did Open Table really just give the nod to this place as one of the two best BBQ eateries in MD/DC/VA? Did they really do that? Did they really place these guys next to Hill Country in a nationally published article? Shame on you, Open Table. I suppose Hill Country and Annapolis Smokehouse are the only two BBQ places that take reservations. So, the food. Strike 1) I ask for an iced tea. They don't have iced tea. They have Lipton Brisk. Strike 2) We order brisket and ask for moist. The waitress doesn't know what I'm even talking about. I explain that I'd like my brisket on the wet side. She tells me there is a dry rub. I say no, I mean moist, as in not lean. She says they don't offer a choice. Strike 3) I ask for a recommendation between the short rib / brisket burger, and the shrimp salad sandwich. I do this mostly as an inside joke between me and myself. She suggests the shrimp salad sandwich. Oh boy. What the hell, you only live once, right? I go ahead and order the shrimp salad sandwich and to be honest, that sandwich was the highlight of the meal. The shrimp were actually really large and overall it wasn't too shabby. The homemade chips were nice too. But the BBQ. Oh, the BBQ. The brisket was, surprise, dry as dry can be, and with very, very little flavor. No hickory in there. No fat. Very blah. The pulled pork was ok. The sausage was very average. It was a like a cookout, and that one friend who swears he's a master behind the grill. Except he's not. Having said that, our server was really nice and the food came out fast. She was super accommodating to our two young children and we left her a nice tip for that. I highly doubt I'll go back. Gives me a new found respect for Mission BBQ.

Not a big barbeque but partner is. He rated ribs and brisket best he had in ages. Good choices for vegetarian / pescetarian options. Good selection of beers/wines. For open space restaurant - industrial look - sound not overpowering so can carry on a conversations. Highly recommend! 11/23 - dropped by again - delicious shrimp salad sandwich. Ribs , some of best collard greens around - all good!!

This place is awesome. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I'm on a low-carb diet and the "naked" wings definitely are rubbed with sugar. They are very sweet (and delicious), but not low carb. The waitress did explain to me afterwards that there's only a small amount of sugar in the rub. But I digress. We arrived and got a table in the bar so we could watch the Redskins play Baltimore. The wait staff is very friendly and on top of things (owners, too!) Our waitress (Brandy) was funny, fast, and extremely helpful. I have a hard time deciding what I want to eat so she told me what I would like and she was right! I got a wine (California Chardonnay) and my husband got his typical Miller light. I didn't ask prices but I was surprised to find out that the wine I ordered was $10 a (small) glass. I had two before I checked on the price. My bad. That was a little disappointing. I ordered the side Caesar salad with brisket on it and the naked wings. My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich on Cuban bread. They don't put barbeque sauce on anything - it's on the table and you can choose what you want. When I told Brandy that I was on low-carb, she brought me homemade vinegar to put on my wings - yay! My husband loved the cherry bourbon barbeque sauce and when I tasted a tiny bit I loved it, too. The wings were cooked to perfection (dark and crispy) and big! The Caesar dressing was just okay but the brisket was good (albeit a little dry, but remember I don't use sauce) The food came out in literally 5 minutes, hot and fresh. Don't know how they accomplish that because it was a Saturday night and they were pretty busy but I'm fine with precooked if it comes out like these did! I'm a fussbudget and I saw a waiter deliver a plate of food to the bar and a large piece of meat fell off of it on the floor and he didn't notice. He was a little preoccupied with going to a table of his friends to chat but honestly, I don't think he knew it happened. Anyway, I motioned Brandy over and showed her and she picked it up, went back to the kitchen, got a new piece of meat and found out who it belonged to! Kudos! When we were done (neither of us could finish our meals, the portions are pretty big), one of the owners stopped by to give us a bag for our leftovers. I forget her name and I'm sorry I did because she was amazing. I told my husband to watch her as she buzzed around the restaurant helping everyone in every way she could. She introduced herself to us and talked for a few minutes. My husband says her name was Jen but I'm not sure about that. She was terrific. I love this place and will definitely go back. The owner told us they won some Annapolis contest for best burger so next time my husband will definitely try it. They had quite a few items on the menu that I would really like to try, so we'll be back. Service gets an A+ and we tipped over 20%. Great little place in a strip mall!

I gave it 5 stars for the BEST Cosmopolitan martini drink I have ever had!! That is not what you would expect from a place called "Smokehouse". It is a very friendly and open place right in the heart of Bay Ridge. I am glad this is the restaurant rather than the old Chinese Buffett that used to be there. We had a fundraiser there for the Quiet Waters Park and the Smokehouse donated 10% of the proceeds to the park. We had a great turnout. The bar staff is so friendly and courteous. I can see why the place is so popular. The food is delicious. I will definitely go back!

Saturday night we went to dinner early at Annapolis Smokehouse and Tavern. So, Bayridge Plaza needs to work but what a cool place. Not what I was expecting at all. Kinda of new american meets southern comfort meets smokehouse. Started with the Smokin' Eggrolls which are pulled pork bbq meets korean bbq in an eggroll. Just a hair greasy but so so good. That and salad and you could have a meal. The "chips" they bring out are pork rinds. Which, strangely enough, I've never had. It's just a really porky chip. I got the Naptown Melt. Grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar and granny smith apples. Tasty but need something else like a mustard or something. Hubby got the ribs. Fall off the bone tender. He loved having collard greens and baked beans. Interesting cocktail and beer selection as well. I got the Limey Mule because I'm on a vodka kick. Loved it! Hubby got a beer of some kind which he enjoyed. We are definitely going back.
(4)Kat M.
We waited about an hour for a table, but stood in bar area with drafts and played cards. Bar staff even changed the TV channel per our request to show the Orioles game. Appetizers, nachos & crab dip, were so good. Good draft beer options. Food was good too. Only negative is music was so loud, it was hard to have conversation all 4 of us could hear. At one point, the music stopped & automatically the conversations in the whole place went down several decibels. That's my only negative. Would go again.
(3)Susan A.
Great place. Great selection of sauces. The wine selection is great. Wonderful work by local artists on the walls that rotate throughout the weeks. Welcoming atmosphere. Congrats Jen and Team.
(5)Karen P.
An sophisticated neighborhood bar. with an upscale choice of wines, microbrews. Tuesday night is always a fun crowd with karaoke and dancing. Thursday nights have great local talent.
(3)Maylene J.
Came in on a Monday evening for a celebration. Our guest of honor chose this place (based on yelp reviews, had never been) so I did not feel comfortable complaining on site in front of him and sorry to do it on here. Food - his combo platter of ribs and brisket ($24) was good. My beet salad topped with shrimp ($22) was ok - cut up beets may have amounted to 1 small one on a bed of spring greens with a very bland apple balsamic vinaigrette (asked for blue cheese instead), shrimp was fine. We also had shrimp & grits ($18-shrimp was very tough, she did not eat it), shrimp & corn chowder ($5-extremely watery and tasteless) and egg rolls ($8-tough and not very tasty) and one glass of wine ($10). My biggest issue was the price. We have eaten at many establishments with a similar environment but tastier food for about half the cost. This is not fine dining, it is in a strip mall, similar to a nice sports bar. I wonder if we caught it on a bad night as the service was not very good either (my daughter is a server and very protective of servers so this review is conservative). The bar area was full. If the prices were lower then we would return for the meat dishes only.
(2)Barry S.
Service 4 Hush puppies with honey butter 3 Potato salad 3 creamy but bland Collards 2 bland Brisket 4+ Sausage 4 Ribs 4+ Honey apple sauce is good too Smallish portion for 25 Nothing super great but everything authentic and real real good ... meat was consistent across the board and gets me from a 3.5 to 4 Might be best in the dmv
(4)Dana L.
I am very disappoint for paying $12 for colossal shrimp salas sandwich. Nothing about this is COLOSSAL about this. We not order this again.
(2)Alex V.
Foods good. Guess they are ranked for best BBQ in Annapolis. Only problem the noise. The noise is out of control. Can't hear your guest talking and raising your voice just contributes to more noise. And when The band started, although good, we had to leave.
(3)Jen L.
What a great addition to the Hillsmere neighborhood! Open late and reasonable prices on the menu. We were in the mood for snacks. So we ordered nachos, the green chili corn chowder & naked wings. We chose the naked wings because we wanted to experiment with the BBQ sauce. My personal favorite is the Kansas City and the Apple BBQ sauce. YUM! I'd pour that stuff on everything. This place looks like a good place to just go and hangout. Nothing fancy or expensive, just a local watering hole. For those of us that live on this side of Annapolis, this was a much needed establishment. We have Ebb Tide for the dive, and Grapes for the Wine Bar, but nothing in between. I'd have to say Annapolis Smoke House is a perfect in between!
(4)Mina M.
Best wings in Annapolis. There's nothing negative I can say about this place. Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere.
(5)Nikki R.
Absolutely love this place! We've been twice in two months and will definitely be back. They have an amazing appetizer with their house made potato chips. It's so huge I got it as my meal last time! Their home made sauces are all amazing. Highly recommend!
(5)Frank I.
With the untimely closing of Punks this has become our go to place in Annapolis. Ou favorite is the brisket sandwich though have a hybrid Cuban that is great to. Beer selection is ok. Lagunitas IPA and Natty Bo are the anchors. Is busy at peak times and loud during happy hour. Usually not much of a wait if busy. Prices are reasonable
(4)Rachel S.
Great place! Tasty BBQ! Texas brisket was very tender- melt on your mouth! Service was a little slow- would have loved another beer;) Planning to go back to try more!
(4)Victoria J.
The smokey flavor is in everything: meat, salmon, even Brussel sprouts. It's very good but a little overpowering...and I had more than that full feeling after an hour or two of being home. Among five of us we shared Key Lime pie and chocolate cake - very good! All sides were good (collards, potato salad, coleslaw-just too much smokey flavor in the main dishes.
(3)Ben L.
I just ate here and sat in the booth by the window. The wings were ok. A bit dry which tells me they were precooked. Second the brisket was very dry. So dry I had to smother it it with gravy and BBQ sauce. This brisket must have been sitting under heat lamps. This was the driest piece of meat I have ever eaten. Brisket has a layer of fat that usually keeps it moist but not this one! The potato salad and rice sides were ok. Nothing to rave about. The reason for the one star was for the service. I was washing the brisket down with iced tea and when I asked the waitress for a refill, she never brought it. She totally forgot it. She kept talking to another customer in the next booth. I had to flag a different waitress. When I asked the waitress for the bill knowing the other waitress brought the iced tea she forgot she then said I'll get it after she's done talking to the same customer she's been chatting with. The other waitress tried to get the bill but didn't have it. She cleaned the table and asked us if we wanted dessert not our waitress. Worst service for a so so lunch place. Avoid if you can.
(1)Christine C.
I like Annapolis Smokehouse! It's a great place for me and my family to go to get some good eats in the Annapolis neck area. I love when we have a great selection of restaurants and I hope this one stays! It's in a great location and the food is consistent. The menu has enough options even for your not bbq friends and the kids. We loved the pulled pork options and I love the chicken. The sauces are not as varied as I would like but it does have someone for each one of us so it works. I will be back again and again.
(3)Gary R.
I've been back about four or five times since my original visit, and while the food is generally still awesome, I do have a couple of things to add, and one is a big menu item misstep. This place is l-o-u-d loud. Don't expect to come here and lay back, relax, and kick back with a cool one. Besides the acoustics of the place (open ceilings, hard walls and duct work), the bar can get rowdy (it's not separated out by walls), and the overall music level is just way too loud. On my last visit, I ordered what is perhaps the worst thing I have eaten in the last five years: their Texas burrito. I was hoping for a flour tortilla with lots of brisket, tomatoes, lettuce and other burrito-ey things inside, but what I got was basically hash in a tortilla: potatoes and brisket. It was just yucky. Mind you this won't stop me from coming back and ordering their other (excellent) barbecue choices on the menu, but it will steer me away from their specials menu. Stick with the regular menu and you'll be in barbecue la-la land.
(3)Bryan W.
If you like dry meat at outrageous prices this is the place for you. Drinks are grossly overpriced, and I haven't had a meal here that felt lived up to the price tag. You may as well get some better food for less at Adams Ribs.
(1)Megan R.
Delish! Good booze selection! Got the ribs & salmon! Potato salad was my favorite side.
(5)Jared P.
This place is amazing! Best ribs ever, fall off the bone good. This is my new spot for great food. The decor seems a little off for a BBQ place but who cares because their food is delish. Great service and good times !!!!!
(5)Amy B.
We decided to give the Annapolis Smokehouse & Tavern another chance, having dined there about 2 months ago with friends. We figured a year in, there must be an improvement, right? After trying to decide between the roast chicken and the Redneck Tacos, and discussing this with our server, I went with the Redneck Tacos. On the menu, it was described two johnny cakes with pulled pork, cheese, and slaw in the center. After waiting about 45 minutes for our entrees, our food was delivered by someone other than our server. I didn't notice it until after the food runner had walked away that instead of the Redneck Tacos, I was served pulled pork on top of waffles. Do whuttt? Our server was nowhere to be found for 10 minutes. I didn't want to eat much of what must have been the wrong entree. When she did stop by to check on us - the others were almost finished with their meals - I told her I was brought the wrong entree. She looked at me, incredulously, and said, no, that is the Redneck Taco. So I said, "Hmmm, okay, where is the taco? Because this is pork and waffles." She said they had recently made a change to the menu and Redneck Tacos were being discontinued. Ummmm?? Okay, so why were they still on the menu? She responded that they were getting new menus in about a week. What does not compute here?! It was really frustrating that she was trying to act as if it was totally normal that I ordered something that was printed on the menu i was given, had discussed the dish with her beforehand (no mention of the complete overhaul of this item), then given the entree with no explanation, and made to feel like an idiot for not thinking this was the same thing. She was like "Well, do you want me to replace it with something else?" No, an hour and a half into our dinner, when everyone else was finished, I did not want it replaced with something else. I figured it would go without saying when the bill came that my entree would be removed. Having been a server before for 2 years, I don't think this a ridiculous expectation. Nope, it was there. Listed as Redneck Tacos. So, if everyone else's food had been amazing, maybe I wouldn't write this place off. It wasn't. Dry ribs and hush puppies and bland mac-n-cheese. I continue to love the atmosphere of the place, and would perhaps consider it if someone else invited us there for a drink. But, unfortunately, with so many other great local restaurants, we will not be returning here to eat.
(2)Ally L.
The first time I was here, everything was amazing! The fried green tomatoes were perfect and our service was speedy despite how packed it was. This time the food took FOREVER and there's hardly anybody here!! A cup of the shrimp and sweet potato chowder took about 15 mins, and although it was delicious, I hated the fact that my one shrimp had the tail still on and I had to take it out of my soup and cut it up. Everything else took about 45 mins. The armadillo eggs were awesome, as was the eastportorican sandwich. I also got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy which were a little on the bland side but nothing a little S&P couldn't help.
(3)Miranda T.
Loved it! Dishes kept passing out table and we kept remarking "we'll have to try that next time." The owners were very nice; Jen is so friendly and bubbly! My son told her that he thought the hush puppies would be great with onion so Jen brought him some with finely chopped scallions; who does things like that? (He liked them!) Signature cocktails: I had the Old Fashioned and it was wonderful! Not too sweet, not too fruity, just right. Wings: *must try* They were the best wings I have ever eaten; unlike any I've tasted. Cooked perfectly, not too dry and the sauces on the table were hard to choose from; they were all great. Salad: perfectly fresh. (Yes, a lot of restaurants have a hard time getting out fresh salad.) Entrees: we all enjoyed our entrees and the pulled pork and chicken were so incredibly tender; again, not dried out. Brussels sprouts were a surprise; a quite nice surprise. I don't like them but I know how good they are for you so I gave it a try and they were also perfectly cooked and quite tasty. (Don't tell my mom I was eating Brussels sprouts, I'll have to eat them all the time when I visit!) Dessert: 3 words. Key. Lime. Pie. omg. Perfectly sweet and tart. It's not easy to find perfect key lime pie and theirs is delicious. (And I'm not a big Key Lime pie fan, either! But I will absolutely order this again.) Service: Jasmine was incredibly nice and the service was prompt. They have a "team player" attitude and all the staff takes it upon themselves to clear a dish or notice a customer looking for the server. Signs of a very well-managed restaurant. Customer service is on the top of my list for places i frequent; I expect to be treated as I treat others and Annapolis Smokehouse hits the mark. We will absolutely return.

Perhaps I'm spoiled with a son-in-law that is a hobbyist smoker, but the fact is that the food here was only slightly above mediocre. Ribs were pre-cooked with a smoke finish and the brisket lacked that true smoke line in the meat. The flavor was dependent on the sauce you chose at the table rather than what was cooked into the meat, a cheat in my book. Sorry, but I was hoping for better...for me, pick a region or style of BBQ and stick to it, even if it's on a item by item basis (e.g. Texas style brisket, KC style ribs, etc.).

Annapolis Smokehouse rocks! I've eaten there a dozen times and have never had a bad meal. The meats are moist and bursting with smoky flavor! Tasty large wings and not fatty. The service is good everyone is friendly and smiling while they assist you. Juicy, tasty, tender food! You must try this place!!!

Beyond slow. Who knows if the food was good. We left after an hour still without food.
(2)Steve G.
Went here for lunch. Atmosphere was nice. Ordered two teas and pored over a busy menu. We opted for 10 dry wings with a unique sweet old bay kind of spice, a pulled pork sandwich and a weekly special of ribs and pork. The wings were smokey and crisp. Just a touch greasy. Pulled pork all around was perfect. Pork ribs could have used a bit more time in the smoker/oven to better render out the fat. Potato salad and chips were great. We'll come back. Wait staff was very helpful.

I would have given them only one star if I was rating just the food, but I gave them an additional star for good customer service. The draft beer options are okay and the bartenders are nice. Eating the beef brisket felt like I was chewing on a thick piece of dry, chewy, tasteless leather..not that I've ever chewed leather, but I assume that's what it must feel like. I couldn't believe that beef brisket could taste so bad. I tried drowning the brisket in bbq sauce to at least try and eat it because I couldn't see myself wasting $10, but even that didn't work. Eventually threw it out. My only recommendation is that the owners should try their own food once in a while and compare it to real bbq or even chains like City BBQ in Ohio to see what good bbq should taste like. Parking a big smoker in the parking lot outside doesn't qualify the Annapolis Smokehouse as a legitimate bbq spot, but it does allow them to charge real bbq prices. Stop by there to grab a drink and some homemade chips.

They've been open for a little over a year. Food: Had the pork chop with bourbon cherry and jalapeno popper, and a bit of Duck Portabello sandwich. I loved it all! Including hush puppies, which I normally don't like. Of course, I rarely spend over $12 on food. So, maybe that's why I loved it. Service: It was a Wednesday night, so not very busy and we were well taken care of.

Not at the level of some of the famed BBQ places around the country but the best in Annapolis by far and it holds its own nationally as well. We started with the Mac n Cheese Appetizer which was creamy and good. Could have been a bit more browned on the top but fine. Two of us had the Whiskey BBQ Salmon and raved about it. One of us had the pork chop and he was silent during the meal so... I had the sampler which consists of three meats. I chose the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The ribs were good, meaty, and flavorful although I have a slight preference for wet ribs (these are Memphis dry rub). The brisket was lean and very smoky. The pulled pork was the champ. Sides were good. Prices are not cheap but the food is worth it.

Been to the Smokehouse a number of times and it is always terrific! The BBQ is the best this side of North Carolina. The rest of the menu is delicious and well made. Hell, they even have a great selection of bourbons. The sampler is the way to go to truly appreciate all this place has to offer. And start off with the eggrolls and fried green tomatoes.

Its very nice place , nice decor and wonderful location. There BBQ is great and awesome , best martini drink. It's very good for my family and kids . 4 star because they delayed bring my sauce idn't know the reason but it's oki this time .

I am hesitant to give them 2 stars, since I want the management to take this review seriously. I have been there twice. The first time was in September and the food was awesome (except the cole slaw, but that is a different story). No issues and I was very happy. My second visit last week was AWFUL! The food was cold, the meat was very fatty and the service was poor. I will chalk up the service to the holidays and most places are short handed, but there was no excuse for the food. I had the sampler (brisket, ribs and pulled pork) and not one piece was tasty. I do not send food back as a rule and as long as its edible, I will choke it down. I left a large pile of discarded fat on my plate, hoping the waitress may say something (but no). In addition, the portions were pretty small for $24 worth of food. Since the flavor was bad, that point becomes pretty irrelevant. I hope this is not indicative of the direction of the restaurant. Many new places start with a splash and then trail off over time. I am debating whether or not to give them a third try, but I will have to think long and hard about it. On a side note, please do not call something cole slaw just because you put cabbage in it. What you are serving is a cabbage-apple salad with mayo. Real cole slaw has celery seed and has a bite! I would say you are rolling the dice if you go to Smokehouse. If I decide to go again, I promise to amend this review.

Food always good. Tonight we go in at 7:30pm for Fathers Day dinner. 12 empty tables and they said it would be a 20 minute wait! Bye bye.
(1)Marla D.
Nice place, good ambiance, attentive staff. Asked about menu favorites and received a knowledgeable answer from our waitress. We had the smokehouse sampler (good but a little dry. Add the sauces provided on the table), naptown melt, and ny strip steak. Each item was good. Unique flavors. Spicy sauce for the steak. Would go back.

If it were possible I would give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars, but I must leave room for improvement and for me to revise my review when I visit this barbecue restaurant again. There are a few marks of a great barbecue restaurant in my opinion; first they should offer southern sweet tea, they do not. Next they should have amazing hearty, soulful side dishes, not so much (in fact the mashed potatoes were just awful). Lastly (and most important), the meat; this was indeed good. We started with the chicken wings. There was no description as to their preparation on the menu, however is assumed they were smoked. In fact, they were smoked and then fried at the end...? They would have been better if left at smoked. We had the sampler platter with ribs, pulled pork, and kielbasa. These were all excellent. We also ordered the mac and cheese with brisket - delicious! Now for the "other" category: Service was okay, but front of the house otherwise was sloppy. Atmosphere was great, lively bar scene and super fun light fixtures hanging throughout the dining room. BEST PART OF THE EXPERIENCE: the hushpuppies. They took a while to come out after we received our meals as they kept "running out" but they were worth the wait and worth going back for.

We were in the Annapolis area and visited Annapolis Smokehouse & Tavern for lunch because Open Table members voted it #1 for BBQ....and they were right. We shared the smokin' egg rolls with Korean bbq sauce. Excellent and ginormous portions. I cut mine in half for fear I would be too full for my entrée. Glad I did. I ordered the Memphis pulled pork, collars and brussel sprouts. Portions were generous and cooked perfectly. The pork was tender and flavorful...didn't need any additional sauce at all! Collars were very good with just a splash of vinegar and the brussel sprouts were amazing. If you like brussel sprouts, they are a must try. I took leftovers home to savor for later. My boyfriend ordered the smokehouse sampler of ribs, pulled pork and brisket. He left not a bite remaining. His three sampler portions were enough to get a good sample, but not to make you wish you wore your stretchy pants. We were very pleased that we visited this restaurant. Thanks Open Table voters! The only small thing that I would nitpick about would be the hush puppies served before our meal. They were cold when they arrived at our table and flat in flavor...needed some salt to make the flavor pop a bit. But, if they had been as good as I think they could have been if served warmer and seasoned a bit more, I would have been too full to enjoy my delicious entrée.

Best thing to happen to our neighborhood in years, especially since there's not alot going on out here . . . . and it's a nice atmosphere with easy peazy parking and access. Bar atmosphere was fun, relaxed and it was easy to fit in and immediately feel at home and comfortable. Really excellent barbeque, we had ribs and brisket. Meat wasn't hot, but the smoking and the flavors, texture and taste were all perfectly done. Sides were delicious including the sweet potatoes, the slaw and the collards. Where can you get collards in Annapolis? Answer: At the Smokehouse. Drinks were good pours, wine selection and beer choices right on. Service was pleasant and accurate. Our server was very nice and did a good job, didn't get in the way and didn't want to be our new best friend. But she paid attention and got us the right stuff. I thought it was cool the way she "palmed" my lemon wedge while delivering food to another table but got me what I wanted. Owner stopped by the table and really seemed to care about the food and the experience. Portions were huge, value was strong and we will go back next week. In fact, I have already called friends in Eastport to join us for dinner next week.

Great happy hour, great wings!

Food was great after adding a dash of salt on mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. Ribs naked wings

I had a great lunch here shared with my dining partner: 1/2 a brisket sandwich, 1/2 a pulled pork sandwich, and 1/2 an order of fried green tomatoes. I'm definitely coming back! The meat was juicy and flavorful all on its own. The buns were just right for BBQ - absorbent and slightly sweet. The sandwiches came with a small side of cole slaw (ehn), a pickle (which I like, but coming from the south, I've got to say...shouldn't the pickles be sliced on the sandwich??) and a selection of BBQ sauces. None of the sauces really did it for me: KC BBQ, blueberry, Carolina, and Mustard. But the meat was flavorful enough that the sandwich didn't need them -- which, in my book, is really saying something. The fried green tomatoes were really good too! Piping hot and crisp batter with firm but juicy green tomatoes. Yum! Service was great and the ambiance was sort of upscale for a BBQ joint, but I could see it fitting in this part of Annapolis. I'm happy it's there!

My husband and I went here on a saturday night. Made reservations for 6pm but didn't need them! The interior looks more like a sports bar than a smokehouse so I was a little worried but once the food got to our table I was surprised! I got the sampler of pulled pork, chicken and brisket and my husband got the full rack of ribs and everything was DELICIOUS! the ribs literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth! will definitely be back!

This place is obviously someone's labor of love. I don't even like BBQ and I love the food at Annapolis Smokehouse.
(5)Daniel O.
I went to Annapolis Smokehouse for the first time this past summer after I heard it was selected as one of Open Table's 30 best barbeque joints in the country. I've been back four or five times since and have never been disappointed. The food has always been outstanding. The Smokehouse offers not only great standards like meticulously smoked pork, chicken, and brisket but a range of creative barbeque meals like beignets stuffed with pulled pork and a blueberry barbeque sauce. There's five kinds of sauce at every table and an array of beers on tap. It's a great place to catch a game at the bar. The Smokehouse is a labor of love by a culinary artist who loves barbeque. We are all his beneficiaries.
(5)Andy F.
Almost a 5 start place. I have visited the Smokehouse since the beginnings and have watched it grow and mature into an amazing BBQ Establishment. Early on there were some growing pains that most new restaurants have. Finding good staff, making sure you've prepped enough food, etc. Those issues have been resolved and if you went in the early days, you need to go back and try again. The food is amazing. I've traveled the country and sampled BBQ from St Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Texas and more. The Smokehouse does a good job and makes it's own mark. They have a variety of sauces to sample from including getting in on the blueberry movement that is a recent smash hit. The redneck tacos are a great blend of different styles of BBQ as is the Sampler Platter. Desserts change all the time which I love. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is the noise. The bar is way too noisy if you're having dinner and makes it nearly impossible to have a conversation with the person seated next to you if your seated at the tables in the dining area. The overall design is beautiful and the art on the walls by local Annapolis artists makes for amazing ambiance. The Karaoke on Tuesday is nice but Thursday live music is the better night to go. Local bands that interact with you and make you part of the show. Is this the best BBQ I've ever tasted? No. Would I recommend this place to family and friends? I have an will continue to do so. Thus far I've yet to hear a complaint from anyone I've recommended this place to and I think that says it all. Enjoy - Sasquatch!
(4)Allan C.
I have been in here a couple of times now and enjoy it. It's very clean and service had always been great The bbq is very good not great but very good I think the ribs need a little more smoke to them. They have the standard sides at a bbq joint which are all pretty good also has a very good beer selection which is important for any bbq an pricey are pretty reasonable for Annapolis.

Cool BBQ spot kinda like you see on DDD. Armadillo Eggs were a awesome. The pulled pork sandwich was great. Enjoyed trying all five of the sauces. This place beats the heck out of Dicky's.

Just had a birthday lunch with my daughter and granddaughter And paid in cash with one waitress and had an unpleasant encounter after paying and leaving a tip of $7 the waitress came screaming out that we only left $7 on a $40 dollar bill the other waitress came out to tell her that we had paid the bill. The problem was she did not even apologize when she realized her mistake I felt like taking my tip back and will not go back as she was sullen when serving us the other waitress was a delight.

Got no dog in this fight, i'm from Ohio and may never be back. Went on a Monday around 5pm. Happy hour had great drink prices. Not very crowded. Seated right away. Service good. Scorecard was: Armadillo eggs A. Smoked wings A+. Pulled chicken A. Spare ribs A. Sausage B. Fried corn B (tasty, but weird). Got a couple desserts to go so I don't have a grade but they look good. Tired of all these whaaaaa reviews about lack of absolute perfection. It was very good at a decent price. Going back home now. Carry on.

I just ate there for lunch today, on a sunny spring afternoon. It was the perfect meal of barbecue, ambience, and company (I took my wife don't hold it against me). It was my 1st time eating there, based on the recommendation of a good friend of mine, and I have to admit it is among the best barbecue I've had in all of Maryland. Moreover, i am a massive barbecue fan, I have been able to eat at many of the nations best barbecue restaurants, and I daresay this ranks well even among that competition. One caveat however - the restaurant is located in a sort of rundown shopping center. It is clearly going through a revitalization and I believe the restaurant is one of the 1st efforts to make it a more modern area. However when you pull into the area you will immediately notice that everything is just a little bit dirty. I am very optimistic that with this restaurant there, it will really help bring that shopping area back, into a real hotspot. I had the beef brisket today for lunch, with a side of fried corn, and beer battered onion rings. The fried corn, is literally battered it years of corn thrown into about hot oil and then pulled out. The batter is light and flaky and is the perfect contrast to the sweetness of the corn itself. The corn was surprisingly fresh considering we are in the earliest point in spring. The onion rings or also very tasty, with a light but fixed batter made with one of the local beers. they come with a BBQ horseradish sauce that was an excellent choice. However those sides were nothing compared to the beef brisket I had. The deed itself was tender and fell apart on the fork held together by a light fat and crispy outside. on the table were several sauces made there at the restaurant. Of the final table I tried 3, and all were exceptionally good but I strongly recommend the apple honey which was absolutely delicious. With a light coating on my beef brisket, I ate every single morsel off my plate including the fat which I normally would leave behind. My wife, who is less of a barbecue fan than I am, had a chicken salad which was also quite good and a side of hummus with vegetables (for $5 which was huge!!) She also really liked her meal as well. Bottom line - the food was amazing and the wait staff was super nice. I really enjoyed it and look forward to going back again. by the way all of that food only cost $40.
(5)Will O.
With smoked pulled pork this flavorful, who needs BBQ sauce? Not me!! Removing a star for really really bad hush puppies. Overbooked and in flavorful.
(4)Stephanie R.
Thank you to Jen and company at the Annapolis Smokehouse for making our son's eagle scout reception smoking hot! The food was out of this world and they are fantastic to work with! Everyone complimented how wonderful the food was and most of the scouts have third helpings which tells you right there these guys rock!

This is a nice little surprise in Annapolis (right next to the locally famous Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits). The chef takes real pride in his food and you can really tell on the plate. I sampled one of their pierogies...absolutely delicious. Not only was the pierogie great, but the sauce it came with was fantastic. I also tried the chipotle hummus appetizer. It was a little bland, but I'm not sure they could have done much more with it...so I can't fault them. I also had a few cocktails when visiting the establishment. We came during the late afternoon and I get the impression that the person tending bar wasn't that experienced. Both the Manhattan and Sidecar I sampled were just okay, but they at least knew what went in them. Certainly nothing negative can be said of the staff...all very attentive and I'll be happy to go back and give it another shot for dinner.
(4)Bill O.
First experience I had here was awful! Food was cold and tasteless, my entree came out three minuets after my appetizer which I could have accepted if the entree was hot! I ordered the sampler platter in order to get a variety of options and everything on te plate was cold! Second time I came in with my girlfriend to give it one more try. I ordered the shrimp salad sandwich which I had to eat with a fork because the shrimp were whole which looked great but as soon as I picked up the sandwich they ALL fell out! My girlfriend had the chicken and it was so dry she could not even finish half of it!

For barbecue purist like myself, Texas is next to God for barbecue. The Annapolis Smokehouse belongs in Texas. The chicken, brisket and pulled pork were smoked just to the right degree without an overpowering smoky flavor. The potato salad was upscale and very good. The biggest surprise --smoked brussels sprouts. Never would've believed brussels sprouts went with barbecue but they do!! Great beer selection. Will be back.

Let me start this off by saying this is my very first yelp review ever, the smokehouse has inspired me to voice my opinion. Now I've tried many things on their menu...all of which had been good, but today... today I had their prime rib special and... holy mother of god! Smokehouse must have walked straight up to Ruth Chris her self, spit in her eye then kicked her square in the baby maker. This god damn primerib was so fawking good I swear they must have found a cow that was conceived by immaculate conception, raised it with more love then most child receive, and then slaughtered the animal during it's first orgasm in the most humane way possible. I haven't even touched on what they must do to this heavenly piece of "holy cow" after the butcher has removed the cut with the careful hands of a doctor delivering and infant. That's because I don't know what they do... but can only Imagine they marinate it and only the most joyous of childhood memories for at least 2 forever. Then cooked with pure Christmas morning while angels sing with there hands on the cook's, scratch that Chef's, again I say neh... God amongst men's shoulders. My only complaint is I ordered the 12 ounces and not the 16. Thank You smokehouse just so you know I may never wash the juices out of my beard

Myself and some coworkers stopped in today for lunch on a whim because we heard how good it was. We were seated quickly and as we sat down we were greeted quickly by a nice waitress. I have to say the place is well decorated with local artwork and a really modern feel. We all ordered up the pulled pork sandwich. I had to request that the coleslaw be on the side because Im not a big fan of slaw on my bbq. The sandwiches came to the table quickly and we dove right in. Every bite was mouthwatering... I coated mine in their KC BBQ and Fire sauce. Either way all of their housemade sauces were amazing, but I like a kick in my bbq so the fire and KC did the trick. The chips were warm and crispy and for a $9 plate, I would say we got a great deal. I have had BBQ in texas, memphis and carolina, and I have to admit this was one of my favorite sandwiches. After we finished, the Owner's uncle Rob (the cook/smoker) came out and introduced himself. He then went on to tell us how he smokes the pork and even how he learned from the BBQ Pitmaster himself Myron Mixon. A very nice man indeed! We will be returning for lunch plenty of times!
(5)John F.
Honestly it took a little while, but they have their "A" game on now. Been there three times since my last review and the food has been consistent and good. Service is right there where it needs to be. Downside for me is the noise and I belive they are aware of it. Still have not made it for happy hour--stopped in once and it was jammed and no seats at the bar, so I left. But let's call this a win!
(4)Joanne B.
Great food, awesome ambiance!! The fried green tomatoes, the ribs, pulled pork egg rolls, fried corn & the coleslaw...all fantastic!! The pulled pork & brisket were a little dry, but still had good flavor. It was busy, but no wait except at the table. I think it was understaffed for the evening. Definitely recommend this place, wish we lived here to enjoy it more often! Prices were reasonable also!
(5)Brooke L.
Good happy hour foods. All the food is delicious! Even had my thanksgiving turkey from here. So good! Great atmosphere. All the staff is always very friendly. Come here all the time.
(5)Koren L.
yummie chicken wings, there pulled pork is awesome. I like the 3 of 4 sauces they have the 4th being Carolina (not a fan) My kid loved his ribs. Just there for Breakfast everyone loved there food but me.. Sorry the blue berry sauce was great but the Beignet was not. My eggs were super runny which also is not my preference. Over all my experience here has been good this last time not so, but it might be because they were super busy. Will be going back but not for breakfast
(4)Jamie H.
I have never had a bad meal here, my mouth is watering just thinking about the food right now! I love bringing out of town friends and family to the Smokehouse! It's a great place to see live music. The attention to detail from the decor, the dish ware, menu, etc. shows how much the management cares. You can tell this is their passion and I love supporting that!
(5)Sean P.
The place looks nice. Cool atmosphere. Hostess and waitress were very nice and helpful. Appetizers we're really good. We had the Armadillo Eggs (stuffed jalapenos) and some of the fried cornbread. Though one of the three jalapenos was much much hotter than the other two. Enough to make my eyes water and mouth burn. And that's unusual for me. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which came out very dry. And her fries we're just ok, disappointing considering we were charged an extra $3 to trade chips for fries. I ordered the smoked ribeye, rare. It came to me cold. It looked nice but there didn't appear to be any seasoning on it while the menu said it would have chili and garlic butter. Mine had neither. I sent it back, which is something I had never done, mostly to have it warmed up. It's a $23 steak so I want to at least have it be edible. I mentioned to the waitress it was cold and did not have the chili or butter on it. She apologized and took it back, along with my fork and knife. The steak was returned by whom I would assume was the chef. It was warm but still did not have the chili and butter on it. At that point I just wanted to eat. But, of course I had no fork or knife to eat with. So I had to cut the steak with a butter knife and my wife and I shared her fork until we could get the waitresses attention to get another fork. The outer, fatty edge of the steak was delicious! I ate it last and I was able to tell just what flavor they were going for with the steak. I just wish the rest of it had tasted as good. All together the steak was average. Overall I chalk the experience it up to growing pains since the place is new. It has a lot of potential. I just hope they can eventually deliver. We'll probably go back in a few months when they've worked out the kinks.

My husband and I went to the Smokehouse last Sunday afternoon with our 3 year old daughter. It didn't seem that busy, but the waitress appeared to be 'in the weeds' when we arrived, perhaps because several tables arrived at the same time? The other waitress took our drink orders. Our waitress came over after that and was very friendly. She also put our order in before a table of 7, which was awesome of her, since we would have had a long wait otherwise, and we were starving! I ordered the beef brisket and my husband ordered the pulled pork. Our daughter had the Mac and cheese. All of the food was very good, I especially liked the rolls. The chips were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I dislike this trend of serving potato chips instead of french fries. But, that's me. The only real downside I had was that there was a very miserly amount of coleslaw on my sandwich. Maybe they were running out? Also, the mac and cheese was rather bland. I guess because it is a kid's item? A little salt helped. The cheese sauce was very good otherwise. All in all, I thought the food was very good. We got a nice surprise at the end of the meal, our drinks were charged at happy hour prices. If I had been aware, I might have had another! I think we will probably return if we are in the area again. It helps that Bay Ridge Liquors is right next door. :)

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful meal there last night. Pulled pork, smoked salmon sandwich, and chicken ceasar salad. All three meals were quite good. The salmon had an incredible flavor, but they probably could work on the "engineering" of the sandwich some - it did not tend to hold its integrity as a sandwich and fell apart too easily making it much easier to eat with fork and knife than as a sandwich. They have an interesting mixture of sauces. Of the sauces the blueberry is probably the most novel, but also needs the most work. A slight shake of the sauce causes it to react a bit like a carbonated drink and almost seemed to have a fermented flavor. The SC BBQ style mustard sauce and the Eastern NC style vinegar sauce are both extremely good. The KC sauce is also extremely good. Since this is more of a southern cuisine it would be also appropriate to add a southern delicacy to the drink menu - sweet tea. The service, atmosphere, and attention to customer needs all second to none and well worth future visits on that basis alone.
(4)Kalee C.
I was quite surprised with how good this BBQ palce was. They have a selection of homemade BBQ sauces as well as an amazing BBQ breakfast/brunch menu. The one complaint I may have is the portions aren't very "American." One would say they are perfectly portioned for what the average American SHOULD eat, but I'm a girl who loves her food so some of their meals don't quite fill me up. They do have a nice daily happy hour that reasonably priced.
(4)Chandler L.
This place is mediocre. The atmosphere is really nice but the food and service are awful. I sat at my table without a waitress for 15 minutes! I'm more upset about their liberal use of the word "smokehouse". The food is bland and I seriously doubt if they even smoke it. I sent the food back and the waitress still had me pay for the food. I wouldn't recommend this place.
(1)Jessica H.
My fiance and I came here for happy hour after a couple of our friends highly recommended it. The bartender seemed to stay busy with continuous carry-out orders. We were very impressed with the quality of the service, She would help carry the food out to cars and before they left she made sure they sampled all the sauces they had to offer. We started with the Chipotle Hummus; I was happy to learn they made everything homemade and it was obvious with the chunky style of the hummus. For my main course I had the Redneck Tacos and my fiance had the brisket sandwich. My Taco's were outstanding!! They were nothing like your average tacos, served on a homemade johnny cakes ( kinda like a homemade tortilla made out of thin corn bread) topped with coleslaw and it came with two sides of my choice. My Fiance thought he's brisket sandwich was a little dry but tasty. We'll be back for sure and next time I'm coming for the ribs!
(4)Katherine S.
Definitely a great hang out bar! They have the most delicious food and a great selection of beer and spirits. The chicken wings are a must as are the nachos and, of course the smoked options. My favorite are the ribs. All the staff is super friendly and attentive. Jen the bartender is definitely my favorite! One of the best parts of the place is the ambiance and architecture. I'm told that Craig Martin is the architect and I have to say that he's pretty fantastic!!

Came here last night with my Mom. Have wanted to try it for some time now. Although I don't eat meat, I checked the menu online, and there's a lot I can eat. I do eat seafood, so I opted to try some of that. The noise level was really loud when we walked in. They get points for that. First, we'll be able to bring the kid here. I like noisy places cause they drown out any screaming that could possibly take place if he doesn't get his way (he's 2). Also, mental note that on our date nights, it looks like a reallly fun bar to come to. Anyway, we ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. It took FOREVER to come. It was smaller than I expected, but delicious. It's too fattening anyway, so I guess I'm happy with the portion size. Who needs too much crab dip anyway? My Mom got the pulled pork sandwich and loved it (big portion!) and I got the shrimp salad sandwich. Mine was excellent. Huge shrimp, not a lot of mayo, and perfectly seasoned (I could definitely taste the Old Bay). New favorite sandwich I think! The chips are homemade and came out still warm. Yum. Overall a great place. The service could've been a little faster, but the food was worth it. I took away a star, not for the service, but because there needs to be heat lamps out front! We sat inside, but I would've loved to have sat out front. It was really chilly, and there would've been many more tables out front if it was a heated patio. I've worked in the biz for many years, and that's a big mistake restaurant owners keep making. You can extend your Summer season and start your Spring early by just having heat lamps. It will bring more customers. Just saying...

Decided to stop at this place for the first time tonight. It was a group of 4 and we made a reservation. It wasn't too crowded in the dining area (it being a sunday night), but the bar area was packed. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. We had the pulled pork pierogis and they were fantastic! We were not expecting them to be so flavorful and delicious. The hush puppies were also fantastic. The meals we ordered were all delicious. Very tender, fall apart, melt in your mouth bbq. We had the Eastportorican, Redneck Tacos, Pulled Chicken Sandwich, and Beef Brisket Sandwich. All loved. The service was also great. Highly recommend this place, and will definitely go again!

We love everything about the smokehouse! It is kid friendly and has natty bo on tap. Everything is smoked but it has great flavor. Their mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens are delicious. Try the wings naked so that you can sample the many different BBQ sauces.

Best wings in town. Great service good beer selection and happy hour every day. Can't ask for more.

I have a favorite four letter word that begins with F. Smokehouse brought to mind this word.... before you start to think badly of me, let me clarify.... that word is Fine. Smokehouse is fine. With thanks to Merriam Webster (and so you aren't confused by my intended use of the word fine) I provide some Synonyms: acceptable, adequate, all right, creditable, decent, OK (or okay), passable, respectable, satisfactory, serviceable, so-so, sufficient, tolerable My husband and I stopped in rather unexpectedly on a recent night. The positives: The hostess was quick to seat us and the waitress arrived promptly to take drink orders. Since we were quite hungry we didn't take long to order and we asked the waitress to bring the food as it was ready, which she did, to our delight. The neutrals: the food was fine. We ordered an appetizer (mac and cheese), an entree salad (Smoked Pear), and the mix of bbq (Smokehouse sampler). Let me repeat myself... the food was fine. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about any of these. The Mac was a bit greasy for us but the flavor was fine. The smokehouse sampler had plenty of meat all of which was fine. We tried some of the sauces on the table, without any standout offerings. The salad, which we took home and ate for lunch the next day, was fine too. It had lots of spinach but the pear was a bit too smoky for my husband's taste (I liked it). The negatives: It was so noisy we could barely speak to one another. Unfortunately this restaurant elected the high, industrial ceiling vibe which is so popular these days. They also have an open concept so there is no separation between bar and restaurant. Perhaps it is quieter on a night when the NCAA tournament is NOT on all the TVs... In summary, the food was just ok, but maybe we would have enjoyed it more with a better environment.

A great new addition. The decor is warm and comfortable. The people are extremely friendly and knowledgable. The beef brisket is amazing. The duck sandwich is great. I lived in North Carolina for 7 years and had BBQ many times in Lexington. This is as good as anything there. Delicious.

We were very excited to try a new neighborhood restaurant, but unfortunately this restaurant needs improvement. The service was friendly and attentive but the food quality left much to be desired. First, the fried cornbread had a fishy taste as if it was fried along with seafood. Then our son's chicken tenders arrived and were raw in the center. Waiter was good and promptly remedied the situation. My husband's half rack was very small, more like a quarter rack. My pulled pork dinner was a little too dry and lacked flavor. Finally the atmosphere is very loud making it difficult to have dinner conversation.

I had the best pulled pork at the Annapolis Smokehouse and Tavern; didn't need any sauce it was so moist and tasty. I forgot how much I missed hush puppies - they were fresh and delicious. My server Courtney was excellent, making sure everything was perfect. Thanks to John for inviting me.... you were right, the food is awesome. Cheers, Art Huseonica, Crofton, Maryland

Well I've read a few of the reviews here and they seem to be all over so to me that says new restaurant. I went for my first time with my brother (a BBQ aficionado, we once toured Colorado finding the best BBQ and onion rings, really). We had a nice waiter although he made some poor choices, the first being he brought us old, cold over done "fried corn bread" aka hush puppies while they were "making more." Bad choice by either him or the kitchen, they were horrible. But when he brought out the new ones they were fine. I've had better and they were not overly unique, but they were good. We ordered the brisket meal with beans and salad and the half rack with same sides. Let me preface by saying I am an Adam's rib fan, their ribs more than sandwiches, but still like to eat there. So my brother loved the brisket and I thought it was quite tasty. It was a little inconsistent, dry on one end, fatty on the next piece, but it was smoked nice with great flavors. We both liked the ribs, but though Adam's doesn't have to worry any time soon about being overtaken. My brother loved the beans, I didn't think they were bad, but they looked out of a can. The small salad was just right, with a good dressing (blue and ranch). Not sure if they were homemade, but they were good and the mixed spring greens were very fresh. Let's talk sauce. We saw three sauces on our table: Carolina (vinegar sauce), Mustard sauce, and blueberry. Both my brother and I looked at each other...blueberry? So we asked the waiter about the blueberry and he had no real explanation on where to put it. We also asked him if there was a regular tomato based house BBQ sauce. No was the answer. We thought that strange. We also had a nice beer, Mamma Little's Yella Pils, out of Colorado. My brother had just been there and had it. It was very good and not a beer you see everywhere, so YAY! So why a little disappointed, I will be back to try other things. The atmosphere is nice, but loud, and we were there at like 3pm so it was not even full. Noise is going to be a problem there, so bring your yelling voice. Why go? because it's new and it has good potential! What to eat? Try what you like or what you have the most experience with. Biggest mistake by AST: never bring out old, cold, overcooked hush puppies just because the new batch isn't done. Explain blueberry sauce. Add a reg BBQ sauce. And can someone explain the blueberry to me? Is that a new BBQ trend? Ill be back to try apps next and more beer. I'm happy to have a new place in the Annapolis Neck area. Let's hope they take some of the comments and make it a great place!

The menu was inventive the food was awesome will definitely keep your attention. 4 stars.

Went for the first brunch. Everything was good. Jordan was a pleasant personality behind the bar and the food was good. Anytime I can order a side of brisket, Im in. However the bloody marys sucked (chunky and way too smoky). I gave mine away and moved to beer. The mimosa glasses looked too small for me to try to drink out of gracefully in such a state. I will def go back for brunch and other times. They just need to get a good bloody mary mix (pre-bottled is not a bad thing). Without a good bloody, your brunch game cannot be 5 stars in naptown. I hope they end up with LD on brunch, hes a good personality for sunday morning.

Really enjoyed the wings and pulled pork. Wings are a little pricey but great smoke flavor.

This newly opened restaurant has some kinks to work out, but I already love them and have faith that they will one day merit 5 stars... I usually don't review after only one visit, so keep in mind that this is based soley on today's lunch. I was immediately impressed with the decor--clean, sleek, with vibrant original art on the walls-nice. I loved the piped in music (this is important to me as so many places today blast you with annoying crap that just makes you want to hurry up and get out.) It was upbeat but pleasant and just loud enough to make you want to hang out for awhile. The staff were very welcoming and Sam, the waiter was attentive, but not intrusive and informative without being pushy. The pack of 4 different BBQ sauces on the table made me very happy as I am a sauce-nut... I liked them all, but the Kansas City was my favorite. Complimentary corn bread came with my meal but was not ready (remember those kinks...) Sadly, it was not worth the wait--more like a deep fried hushpuppy and very dense, hard and too savory for my taste. I would like to strongly suggest some real cornbread as an option--yes, with a crispy exterior, but not deep fried. And if you prefer making it savory, have the option of honey butter or at least a little honey to add. Another suggestion I have is to offer wet wipes on the table--the napkins were definitely not sufficient. I ordered a variety of things to try and here is my take on them: Onion rings: VERY good (still not my favorite though) but I did not care for the horseradish dipping sauce (KC BBQ sauce was better) These came huge and crispy-nice flavor...(If you are looking for the best around, I suggest The Bistro at the South River Golf Club or Cheeburger, Cheeburger) Baked Beans...VERY good (but Red Hot and Blue is better) Cole Slaw...described as creamy was not creamy at all--just freshly cut chunks of veggies very lightly dressed, almost dry. Not my cup of tea but I took it home to doctor up with my awesome recipe...smile. I am still trying to find a great cole slaw around here and can only say that Adams Ribs is tops but not terrifric. Ribs...this is where they aced it! While I am not an expert (Tim, we need your review as a registered BBQ judge!) to me this was an example of an award winning rendition. The meat did NOT fall off the bone (yuck) but had a nice bite to it and a gorgeous glazed crispy exterior. Wonderful! These are now my favorite in town. (I hope Tim does not burst my bubble...smile) I think this may become my go-to place (it helps that I could walk there from my house--if I were in better shape that is...) so I will be sure to review again soon.

Yum! This place is just what the doctor ordered. On my first visit i had the pulled chicken sandwich and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were super tender and juicy with fresh buns and tasty cole slaw on the side. They had several BBQ sauces on the table to choose from so you could tailor your meal to your liking. I personally liked the KC Sauce but my husband opted for the spicier vinegar. The drink prices were perfect- atmosphere happening- fast service. They had great happy hour specials too. I will definitely go back!

Football and wings, great combination. Last night friend called and wanted to pick up some wings and come over. My brother in law had raved about a new neighbors Annapolis Smokehouse. I called in an order to go. The service was great, the young lady described the sauces and suggested she send the wings naked and would include sides of all the sauces. Wings were ready in 15 minutes, the smokehouse applewood aroma pouring out if the box upon opening, 2 orders, over 20 wings, carrots, celery, ranch and then the sauces. The naked wings were basted while smoking and the underlying sweetness, well, yum! The fire sauce was hot to the smell, our Labrador left the table, too hot for a dog that eats everything. The heat was nice, not too vinegary. The BBQ sauce added a nice sweetness, the blueberry and mustard need some work, maybe better if tossed but not as dips. I have found a new goto for wings, will go back and try the ribs. On pickup noticed a friendly crew at the bar, laid back enjoying the game. Looking forward to a local hang out, we need this in our side of NAP town.

Wanted this to be a good experience but everything was pretty bland. - pulled pork very dry. Collard greens had a strange taste. Mac and Cheese was okay but too watery. Will give this place another chance cause its new. I really hope this place improves.

Best barbecue in Annapolis, hands down. Annapolis Smokehouse just opened this past Wednesday. We had an early dinner there tonight and managed to catch their fantastic happy hour. Where to start? The beer and wine list is great (good selection of draught and bottled beer and wines by the glass and bottle). We started with complementary fried cornbread and honey butter (yummy!) and we ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a salad with pulled pork for dinner. The pork is amazing! The meat is tender, chunky, and very flavorful; it's definitely pulled by hand. The salad greens and vegetables were fresh and the roll for the sandwich was lightly toasted---perfection. The sandwich came with homemade chips that were warm, crisp, and well salted. They make all their sauces in house! The KC barbecue sauce was tangy; the Carolina mustard sauce was out of this world. Service was very prompt and friendly. Several staff people stopped by just to make sure we were doing OK. The dining room is large---there are plenty of tables and the bar is plenty big. The noise was energetic but not too loud. We'll definitely go back. They have take-out too.

This was a great place hidden around the Hillsmere area. Great atmosphere, great music and fantastic BBQ dishes. I did the smokehouse sampler and that pulled pork was fantastic. Loved the option of adding various sauces that were set on the table. Never got the chance to stay late enough to hear the live bands but it looks like it would be a lot of fun. Definitely worth a visit.

I had a very poor experience here. The restaurant is new so this review is written with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, there were far too many shortcomings for me to dismiss them as "opening week jitters." I'll lay it out as objectively as I can, you can decide if they are fair. We arrived with 5 adults and 2 babies around 545 on Saturday night. The hostess was very sweet, told us just a few minutes. I won't bore you with the details, but 30-40 minutes later, we had our table. You can make a reservation and should you choose to come, I'd encourage you to do. The bar area is comfortable and waiting room is ample. We sat and were offered warm complimentary hushpuppies and butter. It was a generous offering, although not to my taste. They were fairly dense and lacked enough sugar in my opinion. We ordered the nachos and the pork perogies as appetizers. The waitress informed us they were out of perogies, but recommended the armadillo eggs in their place. We heeded to her suggestion. About 5 minutes later, she came back and said she was out of those. We just stuck with the nachos with chicken. They arrived comprised of potato chips, shredded cheese, smoked chicken and other standard nacho toppings. Served to the table luke warm, ew couldn't help but notice some of the cheese was not melted. The toppings were sparse, and the chips weren't salted. The chips, described as fresh cut, are a foodservice product I've recognized from other dock bars in the area if I'm not mistaken. They are tasty, but not exactly "fresh cut" as the menu would leave you to believe. For the main course, we spread out. One of us ordered shrimp skewers. They arrived without being deveined. One ordered the brisket sandwich, which was tough and chewy and had far too much inedible fat. The pulled pork we felt was average, however, the serving on the sandwich we received was less than we expected. I felt the quality of the bread they chose for the sandwiches was quite good. The "tacos" served on johnny cakes were a miss - the cheese on top wasn't melted, the meat (one brisket, one pork) was fair, and the johnny cakes were bland and soggy. Even the kids meal was poor - the mac and cheese we felt lacked any flavor at all. There wasn't anyone at the table that felt they had a stand-out meal. We did feel that two of the bbq sauces were very good - there is a tomato based and mustard base sauce that had great flavor. I didn't care for the blueberry, and the vinegar based sauce was almost straight vinegar. Kudos on the two bbq sauces. Annapolis needs a great bbq restaurant. My opinion is that this place has a lot of work to do to fill that void. I hope to return in a few months once they've worked out all of the issues. However, the food was such an issue that I am concerned there may be too much work to do.

I had heard the service was slow, but they must be improving because our service was very good. We were there early, but there was a full bar and most tables were occupied. I ordered the pulled pork dinner and my wife had the shrimp salad. The pork was what I would expect from a smokehouse with no smoke it was fine, but don't expect an authentic barbecue experience they offer a few sauces and brought me a side bowl of a hotter sauce I was disappointed by the East Carolina vinegar based sauce, it just didn't have the zip and flavor this type of sauce is famous for when done right. The other sauce I tried, Memphis?, was decent, and the hot sauce on the side was a more hot than good. I didn't try the shrimp salad, but it looked good with lots of nice sized shrimp. The level of noise was annoying, but I was told they are installing acoustical treatment. It is nice to have another bar option in the area and that is probably be the reason I go there.

The BEST ribs and pulled pork ANYWHERE!! I have been to the Smokehouse several times, but I have never tried the ribs. I almost always get the pulled pork because it is so awesome. I have seen reviews by some who say the ribs are great, others who say they are dry. So I thought I would try them myself. I am not a rib expert, just someone who likes them. I wondered what the difference was between the Smokehouse ribs and others, so I asked. I was told that their ribs are smoked, not boiled. The smoked rib does not fall off the bone, the meat holds gently onto the bone - and the Smokehouse ribs do not come sauced, either - you choose your sauce. So I was wondering what was in store for me when they arrived. Much to my delight they were so moist and tasty on their own, I didn't need to put any sauce on them, but they do give you four or five sauces. I got a half portion and they were very meaty - I couldn't eat them all. I have been to Adam's many times, and it's a totally different thing. Theirs are served wet and fall off the bone - so If you are expecting that type of rib you won't get that. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I prefer these. For my appetizer, I had the caprese salad - fresh, fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil. Yummy!!! My sides were mashed potatoes and gravy and the vegetable of the day - squash. They were delicious, as well. In the past, I have had the pulled pork pierogies and their shrimp, corn and sweet potato chowder as appetizers. Stellar! Pair the excellent food with a very hip and warm atmosphere, you will want to keep coming back until you have tried everything on the menu! It's hard for me to "pull" myself away from the pork, but I have promised myself I will try different things when I go in. Every time I go in there I meet nice people. Is the restaurant perfect? Probably not . . . but perfection is not realistic. If I am going to spend my hard-earned dollars, I expect consistently good food and a warm, friendly place to get a drink that is close to home. The Smokehouse meets and exceeds my expectations.

Went with the better half for a lunch. We both ordered the sampler to try their smoked meats. Sadly there is no sweet tea and they only have Coke products. The beer and wine selections were plentiful. First out was the fried cornbread. Light but little to no flavor. Then came the platters. For $20 you get 2 ribs, 3 nice slices of brisket and a pile of pulled pork. The ribs didn't need any sauce they were so good. The first slice of brisket was moist but the others quickly dried out. Not sure if they cut it to order or not. Great smoke ring and good flavor. The pulled pork had to be at least 5-6 ounces of moist pig. All the meats were well done. However, the sauces were a major disappointment. First, I will admit I am not a fan of the Carolina type sauces. There were four on the table. Carolina vinegar based, Carolina mustard based (was pretty sweet), Kansas City style(described by server as ketchup based) and honey, apple. After living in Kansas City and Texas for many years I definitely know what I like and none of these sauces hit the mark. I would say they KC was underdeveloped. Looked like ketchup and tasted like celery salt. Sides were not much better. Beans had an odd flavor to them. Cole slaw was decent but probably wouldn't order it again. My wife said the potato salad had no flavor. Have to admit we had a good server who answered our many questions and was attentive and polite. Overall, they should be a BYOS (S= sauce) place and I could eat in again. As of today I would definitely pick up their meats and bring them home and doctor my own sides.

Let me start by saying I have worked in customer service and the restaurant business for years. My fiancé and I first visited here a month ago, we were seated at a booth by the windows and asked to move due to a hoard of flies. Granted, this happens in restaurants during the summer, but it's still gross and annoying. The onion rings and BBQ sauces were good. I ordered the chicken and waffles, the waffles were way too dark and over cooked, and the bacon inside was so dry and tasteless it resembled dog food. Chicken tenders on top were decent. Tonight we went with friends and it appeared they were understaffed because it wasn't very busy, yet everyone was running around like they were in the weeds, we had to flag people down for refills. The food was definitely better this time, until dessert came. A few bites into a dry lemon cake and I had this FUNKY taste in my mouth, I take a look and the inside of the cake was MOLDY. The server came to check on us finally and I brought the mold to her attention. What blows my mind is that she didn't ask if I wanted a different dessert, or if I even felt like eating anything at that point, she literally grabbed the plate and RAN OFF without giving me a chance to order something else! Why would I want the same, dry, moldy dessert? Whom I'm assuming is the manager came out with another slice, that I didn't want and could have saved him the trip had the server not ran off without talking to me. I told him I'm sorry but I don't want that, and he seemed extremely annoyed and said this was from a brand new batch, I reiterated that I didn't want to eat it and he walked away in a huff with no apology, and again NEVER OFFERED anything else! What the hell! I was put off even more by the lack of hospitality when the bill came and nothing was discounted or taken off besides the moldy cake. I'm sorry, but when I was a server and bartender, if a customer ever found ANYTHING gross in their food, their visit was on the house. To not even bother apologizing or asking a customer if they wanted to order something else is unacceptable. I was furious, complaining to the caviler manager seemed useless and futile, plus our friends kid seemed tired. We will NEVER RETURN.

This is my second time to this restaurant and both times had been a let down. My final time I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was off-time more like 3pm and we sat outside. Our waitress greeted us and I asked if they sold Grapefruit crushes, we'd have two of them. Both of us received orange crushes, no big deal but she never came back (she wasn't the one to drop t hem off) so we had to go in to tell them. Then I ordered a salad, no croutons, and no cucumber, with O&V on the side. My salad was brought out, again by someone else. She didn't check on us, until I had already picked off all of the croutons and cucumbers, asked someone else for my oil and vin. It was just one of those days. The food is not that great, salad while it looked great on paper was nothing special to compare it to the description. Was supposed to have goat cheese and oranges, it was pretty much a can of mandarin oranges and a glob of cheese on iceburg, My fiancé got a cobb salad that looked good bc he added brisket. All in all, I've tried a wide range of t hings here (the last time we sampled a lot) and I was not blown away with the quality of the food and definitely not the service.

5 Stars for Food but 3 Stars because of 2 things: flies landing on the open tops of the BBQ sauces on our table and our waitress disappearing at the end of the meal for 20 minutes. I had to get the attention of the hostess for her to find our waitress to bring our check. My beef was very good as were the sauces I tried (I took the lid off to avoid where the flies had landed). The Mac N Cheese was okay and the coleslaw was bland but adding pepper helped. They have room for improvement for sure - flies are completely unacceptable!

Was the most disgusting food. The crab dip was so awful.... needs to be removed from menu. We gave this place 2 tries.....not going to put our selves through a 3rd agonizing meal. They need to closed the doors!!!

This place has got it's sh*t together, NOW! Not so my first few visits, but last visit was BBQ'tacular. The staff introduced themselves and want to know my name, They then reeled off a mouthwatering list of specials from bar bites to dinner entrees. I tried the $3 house white wine, not bad and WAY NOT stingy. The bar bite was just that but incredibly delicious. My Eastport'arican taken home was dissected to make 3, yes, three sandwiches on bread of my choice. The homemade chips that came along side were still crispy and so delicious I had to sample a few and flush the rest cause there was no doubt I was going to eat every one.

This place is what I'd call "upscale BBQ". Definately the best place for BBQ in the Annapolis area. The pulled pork was excellent, and I enjoyed their different sauces on the table. The shrimp and grits is outstanding also. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their food. Surprisingly good wine list for a BBQ place, and the bar looked to be pretty refined, not just cheap beer and rail liquor like you might expect at other BBQ places. Only downsides for us was the noise and rather slow (but attentive) service. To be fair, our waitress seemed to have lots of tables but she was working hard to serve them all.

We have a couple of go to places that work for the whole family, and this is one. It's located just off the intersection of Bayridge and Forrest Dr., nearish to the entrance to Quiet Waters Park, next door to Bayridge Wine and Spirits. It has a nice large dining area, with a very open floor plan. A number of booth and a lot of tables. They also have a great bar area, separated from the dining room by a low wall...but they feel very much connected. The bar as bar seating and a good number of high top tables and chairs. It's usually pretty loud (just the atmosphere) which is great because I never worry that my kids will disrupt anyone if they get a little loud. The food, while maybe a bit pricey, is always great. That's everything from the appetizers to the food. I'd caution people to go light on apps, as the portions are pretty big and you may find yourself with a lot to take home. - The wings are great, smokey and not saucy. - Natty Boh Rings - tasty onion rings, but pretty heavy and definitely a lot of breading. These will ruin your dinner. -Armadillo Eggs are a personal favorite of mine, usually pretty spicy, but well balanced with the meat in the middle. -Nachos - meh, they use their house chips (not tortilla) and it doesn't work for me For dinner I tend to go for a platter with pulled pork and something else, or just pulled pork and I ask for a roll on the side (there's plenty of meat to make a sandwich and have plenty of meat left to eat). The ribs are really good, but also pretty expensive, so I do those very rarely. Sausage was great, but I feel like sausage is kind of easy. The salads are really big, but it's a smokehouse...so I don't go that route. For sides: -Brussel sprouts - these are chopped up in a pile, and usually go well with the meat. -Sweet potatoes - a nice mashed sweet potato, definitely sweet, but really good. I usually mixed it with the brussels....I'm weird - Fried corn: I don't get it. It's just breaded and fried....nothing really added to the corn this way. Got it once, won't do it again. If they fried it in creamed corn mix or something it might be good. But it was just dry, tasteless breading. -Collard greens: These are really good...not much to say. They're straight forward, nice hint of vinegar if i recall correctly. The sauces are all really good, but I think the spicy and honey-applewood are my go-to choices. I do tend to put a sauce on each bite, because they're good and I like variety. They also have great drink options and usually decent specials. The service here is always great, and the owner is often working (I think she's the owner) and is super friendly. Definitely check this place out. For BBQ in Annapolis, it's the place I choose for dinner out. Mission BBQ (new chain on West Street) will let you down. The prices are similar, the portions are smaller, and the atmosphere isn't as good. The prices are higher than many places, but I think it justifies it with great food, fantastic service, and awesome atmosphere.

Generally the food is good, but the shrimp salad is the worst I've ever had. Living near the Bay, we always use Old Bay in our shrimp salad. This stuff was as bland as bland could get. I asked for mayo to try and help, no luck. Order the smoked meats, their good.

Okay so we only ate 1 item here. The pulled pork. So why 5 stars? CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Which seems almost non-existent in this area in comparison to the Left Coast oddly enough. I called trying to find a reservation for a very large party, 19 to be exact. I spoke to Steve and he told me he could accommodate us. My boy is a Plebe (Freshman) at the Naval Academy and he was going to be wearing his whites (white summer naval uniform). That along with the fact that we had my elderly mom and her sister with us, we thought twice about going to BBQ. So we went to plan B, and I called to cancel the reservation because I knew it would be a busy weekend. The young lady who took my call was great on the call and understood why we were cancelling and added, "Well I hope you check us out later in your visit or the next time you're in town." Hook set. The day when we were supposed to eat dinner there I received a very nice phone call from Steve telling us the tables were ready. I called him back to let him know I had cancelled and I thought, "Man oh man I'm going to get it from this guy." NOPE! WRONG!! Completely understood and apologized that the reservation hadn't been cancelled and he called me. Huh? An apology? WOW! When does that happen anymore??!! So the next day I went and got the pulled pork and brought it back to where we were staying so my son could eat it and not be in his whites. DELICIOUS!!! Heading back to watch USNA beat Colgate, Labor Day weekend and we will head out there to try the other items on the menu and I will update my review.

Approximately 3,823 times better than Adam's Ribs up the street. This place has great bbq smoked in house. The menu is diverse and includes vegetarian and seafood items as well. Something for everybody. Great happy hour. Cool art on the walls that changes regularly. Possibly the best part? Ample seating means it's one of the few places in town where you can reliably get a table on a Friday or Saturday night without having to wait.

My husband and I headed into DTA one gorgeous Sunday in August for a late lunch at our favorite Eastport pub. Unfortunately, we opted not to wait for a table, even the outside was full, and decided to give the Smokehouse another try since our first visit over a year ago was a total fail and we had sworn never to return. Luckily there was no wait, in fact, the dining room was empty, but the bar busy with obvious regulars, no room for two. We grabbed a table in front of bar area and immediately the hostess delivered menus. I had to request the table be wiped down of crumbs from previous diners, which she obliged immediately. We were hungry and started perusing the menu, and perused, and perused and perused. During this time not a single employee approached or acknowledge our presence! The hostess did not return, a waiter did not arrive, the manager walked by without notice and worse, the bartender was 20 feet away and never a glance. A solid fifteen minutes later my husband looked at me and suggested we go elsewhere. We got up, left without notice or maybe they just didn't care. Needless to say never, never again!!

It was my Sons BDay and I called for a seat at Smokehouse. Ian answered and said @ 30 min, I said Sold we jumped in car headed over. We came here with friends for the restaurant's 2-year anniversary party, so it was understandably a little crazy. Still, we loved the interior -- modern and cool, but comfortably so. I wasn't a fan of all the art on the walls; most of it wasn't very good, and it was displayed in groups, which broke up the nice continuous line of the space. Waited a loooooong time for drinks at the bar, but again, they were totally slammed. The other patrons were quite friendly; one of them, who had a seat, even flagged down the bartender for me. They he asked if I was single (he was probably old enough to be my father, but I think he was past the point of realizing that.) He also offered me some of his chips. See what I mean? Friendly. They have a decent bourbon selection, so I started with that, and later moved on to martinis -- they make a good French martini, though I would ask for it without pineapple as I found it too sweet as an addition to the Grand Marnier and Chambord. We ended the night with a truly spectacular cordial: coffee-habanero tequila. Oh my, this was deadly. I could have drunk the whole bottle. Thankfully, we needed to leave, so I wasn't presented with that opportunity. The only food we had was from the complimentary anniversary buffet, so I don't feel right judging that as I'm sure it all went straight from a freezer bag into the deep-fryer: battered green beans, corn fritters and wings. It was nice of them to provide free food, but I'd like to try their namesake smoked meat before I say anything about the cuisine here. There was some great local live music there in the evening; not sure if that's usual or just for their anniversary. Still, the band rocked and we had a great time listening and singing along. I'll definitely be back for dinner!

Would have loved to try the food as the reviews are amazing. We are here from out of town. We came in to place a to go order, the waitress gave us a couple of menus and then directed us to the bar. The bartender was helping another customer with their Sweat Tea. When she was finished she came over and asked us what we wanted. I asked for their cheeseburger and fries (I'm not from here so I didn't know they only serve chips). She rolled her eyes and flipped her hair....and rudely explained they don't serve fries...well excuse me....I guess I don't want fries or chips. We went to Grumps instead. Delicious!!!!

I'm always looking for dog friendly spots and new BBQ to try, so this was up my alley. First of all, they have a BAR-B-Q menu. For $8, you get a huge bowl of kibble topped with your (pups) choice of meat. Amazing! The menu looked so good, I was torn between 4 or 5 options. Ended up getting a pulled pork eggs benedict that was absolutely delicious. My friend got the brisket sandwich which was a very generous portion of meat. They also have a nice craft beer selection. Service was great. I live about an hour from Annapolis, but definitely plan on taking more trips down to sample other menu items.

Stopped in because we saw that they were dog friendly. Really nice experience. I had the Three pigs from the brunch menu and really enjoyed it. My dog was treated like a queen and I felt very comfortable there with her. I would definitely come back - with or with out the dog.

We have eaten at the Annapolis Smokehouse close to a dozen times in the last 18 months. And I can truthfully say, we have never had a bad meal. The food is "off the hook". . .Everything on the menu has been great, from the burgers to the fish. The BBQ is exactly what you would expect, well smoked, nice smoke rings and tasty. The wings, well, what can you say about the wings. They are dynamite. We've even ordered them to go, last party, we got 75 wings to go, they were the first things eaten at the gathering. The next week we decided to get together again, and what did EVERYONE ask me to bring, the WINGS! I did, they are great, smoked and then flash fried to get crispy. I recently had the salmon, smoked and then seared...excellent. The fried corn, WHO FRIES CORN? The Annapolis Smokehouse does and it is worth the trip. . .told my family, next time we go, I'm getting and order of wings and two sides of corn. That would be an amazing meal. The service has always been spot on. I enjoy a restaurant where the waiters don't write anything down, the proceed to bring you exactly what you ordered. I highly recommend you giving this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Another incredible Tuesday lunch at The Annapolis Smokehouse and Tavern! Today we had the Tic Tock Taco special and a Brisket Sandwich. Food was absolutely perfect. In addition, with a packed house we witnessed our waiter Chris handle the entire place almost by himself. A little help from management enabled him to amaze everyone at the attentive and fast customer service. I've never seen anything like it! You really need to come visit this place. It's flat out amazing and one of my favs.

We decided to try out Annapolis Smokehouse after receiving several coupons in the mail. It was a Friday evening, so it was pretty busy. I wasn't particularly impressed with the service, but the food and portion size was pretty good. We got the Smokehouse sampler, which gave us an option of what meats we wanted, and the ribs. We enjoyed the pulled pork and the ribs. I will say one thing: without the sauces, the meats wouldn't have enough flavor. Fortunately, Annapolis Smokehouse has tons of sauces to choose from! The bar area cleared out after happy hour, so I am assuming the happy hour specials are pretty good. Will have to come back to try our happy hour one night.

I got the three meat sampler with pork, ribs and brisket. The pork was okay but a little dry. The ribs were cooked perfect, fell right off the bone, not a ton of flavor though. The brisket, however, was a slam dunk! Some of the best brisket I've had. Very moist. Very tender. Great flavor all around. If I go there again, there's no question that a brisket platter is at the top of the list! They had a lot of nice side options which were better than most places. String beans were cooked perfect (not a soggy mess), collards were great, brussell sprouts were great and there were at least 8 other sides I didn't try. That had a tray of BBQ sauces at the table and there is surely one to fit everyone's taste. They seemed home made and there were a couple spicy ones which I liked. The free hush puppies they bring to the table were fine. I like them a tad sweeter, but these were cooked fresh, served with butter and brought out quick! They have outdoor seating which is great if you have a rugrat that needs to jump around a bit. There are a lot of good looking appetizer and menu items that I didn't get to try. Look forward to going back.

My wife and I decided to try Annapolis Smokehouse & Tavern tonight based on a few friends who mentioned the place being pretty good. Living in Maryland, it's difficult to find good BBQ, and the only baseline I can really compare Annapolis Smokehouse & Tavern to be Dickey's Barbecue Pit located in Gambrills, MD--which is pretty danm awesome. I do not consider Red, Hot and Blue, and Famous Daves good BBQ by any means. The appetizer list really looked good, we had to order at least one app, so we went with the pulled pork pierogies, which were delicious. I thought they could have arrived a bit hotter as they were just luke-warm, but their deliciousness forced me to forget the serving temperature quickly. For our main course, we both ordered the Smoke House Sampler which gave you three choices of meats and two sides for $24. Portions were generous, we both brought home food. The beef brisket was lean and delicious, the pulled pork yummy, tasty and lean as well. The pulled chicken was chicken I guess, it did not have much flavor till you poured on some bbq sauce, and same pretty much went for the ribs. From my pictures, you can tell the mashed potatoes are scooped and served in a sort of ice-cream scoop shape, not the most appealing, I'd skip on them in the future, but the veggies were delicious. The roasted and sliced brussels sprouts were delicious. My wife ordered the greens and they were good as well. For dessert, we both got the peanut butter pie, again yummy. All and all a nice experience and some tasty chow.

It's amazing how places get four stars on Yelp and can't do basic things right. Like a "smokehouse" that serves ribs that, though moist and tender, were absolutely flavorless. The sauces, which were similarly flavor-impaired, couldn't make up for the lack of luster in those ribs' flavor profile. Side salad was okay. Chips were house made and really quite good. The Brussels sprouts? Sautéed, somewhat bitter and otherwise just a bit better than mediocre. The service was okay but the noise was what you'd expect during happy hour. But hey, this place sits in a strip shopping center, so what did I expect?
