I only stopped here for some wine on a nice walk through Annapolis, but it seemed like a great little spot. They seemed to have perfected their 'artsy cafe' vibe. My wine was, as wine should always be, delicious. There was a candy machine behind me that dispensed choc-coated java beans by the quarter. I was 75 cents down and feeling feisty by the time we left. The menu seemed decent on the look-over I gave it. I would return.

Love this spot for lunch. Very cozy, great to come on a work break, bring your laptop - everyone is doing it! Staff is friendly and attentive. Feel free to order to-go or ask to grab a cozy table. Soups are fresh and new daily, the desserts behind the glass are dangerous! If you're looking for a sandwich, my favorite is the Veggie Pita paired with one of their salads and you have a great lunch. I keep meaning to try the quiche because it looks amazing!

The day...my birthday. The mood....determined. I had an unwavering desire for decadent dessert and wine to match. Having heard positive things about the selection of desserts at 49 West and learning of its ambiance through a few nose against glass moments in the past, we decided to give it a try. I loved it from the moment I walked in. It absolutely feels like a warm and cozy cafe you'd find tucked away off a side street in Europe somewhere and having lived there for awhile (across the pond, that is)...it is something I miss greatly and don't find often. Dim overhead lighting, candles, friendly staff (they said had they known it was my birthday before they brought out the dessert, they would have put a candle in my Tiramisu. *sigh* charming:). Oh and it was love at first bite....the dessert is amazing and the wine didn't disappoint either. The prices are very reasonable and though I can't speak for any other time of day....it certainly wasn't overly crowded for a random Tuesday night. Good vibe, people, food and drink...49 West is a gem. I can't wait to go back.

Good wine selection. Very relaxed atmosphere. Their espresso drinks are Good- I've had a few lattes. Their daily specials are also good- really enjoyed a quesadilla last week. Had brunch today- croissant-which. Would definitely recommend it. And... They have mimosas! Seriously can't go wrong. I'll be back!

Really good coffee and great atmosphere! I liked that they had art for sale and there was plenty of room to sit. Didn't try any food or deserts but - The coffee tastes better than Starbucks and is cheaper so go here instead!

This was a nice little coffee shop/ eatery. No tvs or loud music to compete with. There was a live blues singer while we were here and he was good. I ordered the tenderloins and they were pretty good too. I would come back for the quiet atmosphere.

Just went for drinks. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. The jazz was very good. Atmosphere was cosy pub vibe. I'm visiting town and had a nice time talking with the locals there. I would go back. Pastries looked divine but I'm a recent GF

Adorable little spot with great prices! My latte was delicious as was my scone. Eggs were a little overcooked. Attentive service. Overall, everyone was pleased with the visit and would go back.

Delicious food & great service. Had a croissant sandwich with a mimosa. Great place! The food came out quick & they have espresso steamed eggs. Which is a great idea, google it if you don't know what it is!

Had a great evening here. The atmosphere is a little shabby but still worth the trip to dine. The food is fresh and simple. Not loaded with salt, butter or other fats. They have great coffees with soy and almond milk options which is fantastic. The music is warm and welcoming and just makes you feel comfortable and happy to be alive. I really enjoyed my time hear and I am looking forward to returning with friends to share a good night out.

I was going to write a gloriously snarky and passive agressive review after a horrible lunch experience here, but I don't want kharma to come after me. I'll keep this review short and sweet. Here's the bottom line: don't come here if you are expecting great service and have a time limit. Also, if you are expecting really good food. My friend enjoys coming here for coffee. I've heard the music is great too. Your call!

Dirty, slow service, food was cold by time it finally arrived. Wait staff addressed yet another long Wait. Table was "cleaned" before we sat down but lots of food remains still there - major yuck factor. Ducted taped seats, dirty upholstery, carpet needs replacing. I've been going here for years though less frequently. The best that can be said for this great location, charming place is that it needs a "Gordon Ramsey Makeover". Lets hope the owners cough up some cash to make improvements before it goes under on its own. There are too many good Annapolis places to put up with such poor quality.

My family and I have been going here for close to 20 years. We LOVE 49 West! I've been here for lunch, breakfast, dinner, many, many times! My favorite thing on the menu is the brie plate. They USED to pour the honey over the warmed brie (drool!), but now they put it in a little tin server next to the brie. Ah well. I have had just that for lunch, despite the looks of crazy I got from my servers, but sometimes that's all I need. I am a brie addict! I've also had the omelets here, which are delicious - and the fresh squeezed OJ. YUM! They also used to have Eggs Benedict as a staple for breakfast, but that went away, which is my go-to when eating breakfast at a snazzy restaurant. Those were the days! Tonight my dad and I had dinner there, and I got the meatloaf special, and my dad got the tenderloin medallion. The meatloaf was good, if not just a wee bit overspiced. Dad's medallions were good too, a bit more cooked than I like them though, but it was his meal, not mine! I highly recommend 49 West. I mean, if you can't trust a reviewer who has been coming back for 20 years for more, who can you trust?!

I've heard nothing but awesome raves about this place but to be honest I just find it okay. It hits everything I like: local? Check. Coffee? Check. Sandwiches and baked good? Check. Quiche?! Double check. Artsy? Check. But something about it just seems so... meh. I've tried the chai lattes, the lemonade, quiche, pastries... I don't mind stopping in if I want something quick and I'm downtown but I'm not going out of my way anymore. I'm going to check out a different coffee shop next time because something about this place just doesn't push my buttons in the right way.

For some 25 years I have been coming to 49West, with enthusiasm and passion. It is not for everyone, so if you want an elegant, posh, gourmet meal, go elsewhere. But there is something special, friendly and family-like in this coffee shop/art gallery/live music place. The setting is unique, the service can be slow but the food is consistently tasty. Soups are good, made daily, and the desserts delight, if your diet will allow. Bring your laptop or book, enjoy people watching and don't forget breakfast, your most important meal of the day; you will be delighted by freshly made waffles or eggs. Wear your favorite jeans and sip a cup of joe...

Food and service ok, but I was very upset, I found "2" long curly hair in my bread--like 3 or 4 inches each---, I didn't complaint to the manager, I was so embarrassed. just paid and left.

In a new city and on a quest for a really good cup of coffee I stopped in 49 West my only option that wasn't a Starbucks. We chose a small table near the front and found that many of the tables around us were full with an eclectic group of people wining and dining and getting their caffeine fix. Our waiter Ian was a nice young kid if not preoccupied with business. I asked if the coffee was good and he stated that often they have customers say the coffee reminds them of Italy. I opted for my favorite espresso-based drink, a traditional macchiato. My beau chose a red eye. The coffee was excellent. The service slow....kind service, but Super slow. You want good joe....stop at 49 West. It is pretty much your only option save the DD and Starfux. You'll be happy you supported the local Coffee House.

So the deal with this place is that it's where all the semi-hipsters in Nap Town congregate. I'm not at all opposed to the hipster scene (see all my excellent Seattle reviews) but in this case it only detracts from the experience. It's a coffee shop, but you don't order at the counter... it's table service, which is a bit confusing. I have tried several of their coffee drinks- the drip is very sour, bland and stale tasting, and the cap had the worst foam top I've ever seen. It wasn't even flat on top... it looked like a pile of crap made of foam, excuse my language. The coffee is poor quality and the baristas don't know what they are doing. Starbucks does it better, ouch. They have a limited food menu that offers some nice looking options, depending on if you want a sandwich or a wrap. The breakfast foods sucked... the eggs were totally flavorless and the presentation lacked character. What this place does have is character, but that can only get you so far. It has a nice vibe with lots of people chatting, and it's never empty. They even have an attractive patio out back. While they do have wifi, I wouldn't recommend doing homework there as it tends to get loud and they often have live music. Last note: don't expect much from the service. While you, the customer, pay the employee's bills, the servers make it obvious that your presence is an inconvenience to them and would prefer to be left alone chatting with their friends, who seem to linger at the tables nearest the counter.

To start on a positive note, the atmosphere is great. The guitarist was very pleasant. Sadly, service was EXTREMELY slow, food was overpriced and very average quality. We paid $90 for breakfast for two adults and four children. Seemed overall disorganized and offered seemingly insincere apologies for their poor service.

This place is good if you aren't hungry and have nothing to do for at least two hours. The food is mediocre, comes in small servings, and takes at least 50 minutes to be made. Order the extra egg or just go someplace else. The chocolate chip cookie was great, but let's be honest, if you are dining at this place, it's not really for the food... It's because you are a free spirit and enjoy watching the fifty-something year old gentleman play guitar while he has acid flashbacks.

My wife and I visited Annapolis last week. We always like to try local bars and restaurants. We were looking for coffee and a light, quick breakfast. This place looked like it was just what we were looking for. We entered and was asked if we wanted something to go or to be served. I asked could we get it to go and sit outside where there were several free tables. They said no, not allowed. We said OK we'll be served and asked the waitress to bring us a vanilla cappuccino and a regular coffee when she came out. The coffee and cappy came out. No cinnamon to sprinkle and no vanilla. After ordering a muffin and scone we waited and waited. I went in to ask about cinnamon and when to expect the food, as well as inform the server of the lack of vanilla in the cappy. The barista went off saying warming the muffins take time and they were busy. He also inquired if I had ever been in a restaurant. I was having a great trip and did not want to get in a yelling match. So I took the doctored up cappy to my wife and waited for the warm muffins. They came out immediately and were still cold. The waitress did take the cappy off of the bill. We will never go back.

I went in there with 2 other people for breakfast, and I was pleased by all the reading material, games and the general ambiance. However, it took a very long time to get service, and the lack of a hostess and crazy-busy servers meant people who came in after us got service first. I heard the man behind the counter cursing the customers - twice- "There's more f$&%ing people coming in." My mom's food was cold (english muffin and scrambled egg), and they just couldn't give good service with the number of staff there. I did really like the housemade granola with yogurt and fruit, but we weren't checked on once. It just wasn't possible with all the other things the server had to do. 49 West could be amazing if they had more staff. If you have an hour or more to kill it seems to be a good place to go.

We were walking back to our car to leave Annapolis when we past by 49 West Coffeehouse. The live music was what drew us in. I got a very good spiced iced tea and the servers were so nice in letting us stay to watch the music even though I only got one thing. I was such a fun, cool place. Would love to go back!

Came here for an after-dinner drink after hearing a bluegrass quartet performing in the back. The hostess was unenthusiastic that we'd walked in the door, and her enthusiasm waned further as she guided us to a table and unceremoniously thrust menus upon us. The two orders in which it was impossible to err, were executed adequately. The espresso drink arrived covered in canned whipped cream despite that detail's omission from the menu. The server promptly abandoned these beverages to the table-top without providing even a sideways glance as to whether or not we had any issues. Fortunately, I'm not lactose intolerant and was able to scoop up a fork from the table-service tray and extract the offending dairy from the espresso's surface. Other than that, I really enjoyed my time. The music was outstanding, the chronologically advanced crowd were fun and the decor was interesting. No experience with the food leads to no opinion thereof. I'd go back and be a more explicit with my order.

Awesome spot especially with the current Groupon Deal. Very unique spot with great grub an cool atmosphere. Perfect place to walk to into and stumble out of. The service was great and attentive and the atmosphere was what we were looking for. If you're looking for fine dining atmosphere go elsewhere. This is for the laid back who want good food and GREAT drinks!

Heard a few jazz bands in the back and ate lunch up front. Despite the place being packed, every single staff person was very friendly and attentive. So no complaints there. I ordered a grilled cheese w/tomato. I thought it a fair bit overpriced at nearly $9. Came with a wilted pickle. Sandwich would have been better but it wasn't bad either. Just not worth $9. Overall, I'd go back but probably stick to coffee and a snack.

This place was terrific for breakfast! A wonderful tea selection, and the food was very tasty. I had the multigrain waffle with just butter and what a wonderful meal it was! Tea selection was wonderful, and it comes with loose leaves in a ball so the tea steps in a large glass mug while you watch. The hot chocolate looked delicious, too! The wait staff was attentive and friendly. There was even live music playing placidly while we ate! Highly recommended.

Very cool little independent coffeehouse that supports undiscovered musicians. Popped in here to escape the loud drunk scene on St. Patty's Day. Great music, great service. Coffee is good not great. Nice little wine list. And the food looked really good, too.

The service here has ranged from mediocre to horrendous every time I've been to 49 West. But the food is delicious, the music is good, and you can use their internet for hours without getting dirty looks from the staff. Just don't go in a huge group of people here, ever. I remember one waitress saying 'they better tip us well...we had to deal with all of their shit tonight'.

I was greeted by two Bernese Mountain dogs standing outside the restaurant/coffee house. I figured if two exotic dogs were hanging out here, the place must be good. There were three of us for breakfast. We were seated in the front window. The place is cozy, lots of artwork, nice environment to dine in. Tables are close together. We ordered two types of Quiche (Broccoli-Cheese & Mushroom-Bacon) and Bagel with Salmon. The food portions were very large. The Quiche was served with a delicious salad and the Salmon portion was generous. $40 with tip for three. We enjoyed the food and talked for what seemed like hours over Cappuccino. I know the service can get shaky in this place, but they were on the mark today.

Sadly I have waited too long to write this review, so I've forgotten some of the food I ate. But I remember the crab dip - it was great!! I couldn't go to Maryland without having crab dip. Recommended! Also, as seems to be well-known amongst regular customers - the service is hit or miss. But this is a casual lollygagging type place, so I excuse that a little.

Edited to add: after about 4 weeks, they did process the refund. I haven't seen the waitress who made the mistake since that night to get her explanation about what happened. I'll probably continue to come back here for Elena Byrd's jazz groups, but from now on in, it's cash only. ------------------------------------------- The good: the food, the variety, the atmosphere, the live music. The bad: I don't expect great service when the room is full but given that my friend and I tipped our waitress $20 on a $75 check (and $40 of that was the cover charges), I was beyond annoyed when the charge came in with the cover added on top of the charge, so we were charged double on the cover. And then they wanted me to drive back to their restaurant to process the refund, about 30 miles from where I live. And then they didn't refund the charge. And then I find out their management only works on weekends. I love the live music here, and I give that 5 stars. Too bad they want to steal from their customers. If you go, pay cash only.

I want to review after my last experience here. I have been to 49 West a handful of times and live close to downtown. The appetizers, sandwiches, dessert and drinks (wine, spiked coffee drinks) are delicious. The entrees are not very good and are way too expensive. I also love the artwork and music. That being said, I am not sure I will go back and support this place after my last experience. I was there with a large table full of people and got there around 6pm. Got wine and an appetizer and socialized for awhile. More people came and went from our table and ordered food and drinks. Around 7:30 the waitress came and brought a couple of people their entrees. I began to get hungry and was planning to order dinner. AN HOUR LATER the waitress had not come back to the table. Who doesn't come back to a table after AN HOUR to check in? Especially knowing most people had only ordered drinks and maybe a small appetizer. I was starving. So I left and got carryout sushi from Nano. Sorry but if I ever go back here it will just be for drinks or dessert, if at all.

I had a hard time deciding what to say about 49 West. It is a tricky place to review. While I think that they have the best coffee in Annapolis, it is hard to get the waiter to bring you that coffee in the first place. The desserts are so beautiful, but the food is over priced and not as good as it used to be. The staff is controversial. Some of them are very nice and attentive - they usually serve in the morning. However, the rest of the time, I feel ignored. Since when is it hip to ignore a table? The crowd at the back is so incredibly hipster that it makes your hipster gene hurt. All and all, go every once in awhile for some dessert. If you are writing a paper, just plug in and get some bottomless coffee. If you want a soup/sandwich date for lunch you cannot do much better. A hard call, but I do not really miss the place.

Great meeting spot for breakfast. The eggs espresso were a first for me, and definitely hit the spot. The others in my group were equally satisfied by their fruit and oatmeal and Belgian waffle.

SO we went for a Sunday morning breakfast and to read the paper... and we were pretty happy with what we got. I got a mocha (big honking mocha) and he got a latte. I got Fruit with Vanilla Yogurt and fresh made granola and it was pretty good. It's almost one of the most expensive breakfast items ($8.25), but when the bowl came I understood, it was huge and it had melon, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple. It was yum, and my hubby had a croissant sandwich (egg, cheese, bacon). He ate it all so it must have been good. But we sat and enjoyed our papers and huge coffee drinks. The drinks were ok, the service sufficed. Can't complain. I would probably go back for a Sunday morning breakfast.

Great food iffy service. I had the crab quicke and a salad. It was marvelous. I had to eventually walk back to the bar to pay. Waitress never came back after delivering my food. Sat there at least a half hour. I guess some people might think that was okay, meh.

Good coffee, but pretty bad service from most of the staff. Neat atmosphere, and if you hit it just right (ie- not during lunch or dinner rush, or on show nights), the place is a cozy spot to sip some bean juice and chill. Also, the art is awesome.

I hesitate to review this place after only one visit, but I wanted to put my thoughts out here ASAP. I popped in for an early lunch one day with a colleague while we were waiting around the courthouse. It is located on West Street and less than a 5 minute walk to the court. For lunch I ordered a tuna steak pesto sandwich. The tuna steak, pesto, and bread were all pretty good. The tuna was not overcooked which is always good. I was asked if I wanted the cole slaw or green salad. I went with the green salad and it wasn't very good. First of all it was not tossed together. All the ingredients were separate and the plate was too small to mix it without getting food all over the table. Additionally it had way too many sprouts. Also, the salad dressing that came with it (they never asked me what type of dressing) was pretty vile. All together it was like eating rabbit food (coincidentally that is the name of one of the dishes on the menu). Also, the pop was flat. There have been some criticisms of the service here and I can sympathize with some people's perspectives. My service, however, was pretty good. The staff are not what I would call professional, but they were pleasant and attentive even if they do look like hipster douches. The atmosphere is nice and there are some interesting paintings on the wall and for sale if you are in to that. It is a solid 3, but could possibly be a 4 after a few trips and a few more selections on the menu.

49 West Coffeehouse, Winebar & Gallery "Nice hangout, good desserts" I love to slip into this coffeehouse and relax. If you can get a window seat it's a great place to spend the afternoon or evening and people-watch. Lot's of people kind of park here with laptops nursing a beverage for hours. They have a good selection of wine and great tasting desserts. I've been here several times and had different friendly waitresses. They are very nice but none are really attentive. You usually have to chase them down for more of whatever you need and to get the check. The place is very laid-back and so are they. The establishment also has live music.

The coffee and food are good. The atmosphere is comfortable, the decor nice, the games and books a fun addition. Really, one of the better places to just sit with a sketchbook in Annapolis. The frequent in-house music and rotating art shows are really nice as well. I like it here, I really do. The -2 stars is really for the waitstaff. Went tonight and ordered coffee, chai, and an appetizer to share. The waiter (she didn't give her name... tall, thin, with bird tattoos on her hands) didn't take our dishes, nor did she come back much. She seemed to have friends at the next table over, who she spent most of her time with (out back, smoking). We were there for an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours, and we only spoke to her three times. She pointedly ignored us after that. We had to go up to the front to get our check, then up again to hand in payment (again, she glanced at the check and walked on by). This is the worst waiter experience I've had here, but it's not the only bad one. Same waiter's been there a while, and nobody seems to have mentioned to her that actually helping customers is part of her job.

Oh, 49. The first place I ever went to in Annapolis and always a favorite. Maybe I am biased because I am one of the dirty kids who drinks $2.50 bottomless coffee out back, but this is the greatest hang-out downtown. Get to know the staff, tip well, and don't sass and you'll get great service. They're good people and have always put up with me and my friends. Foodwise, it's a little spendy, but get to know the menu and you can eat well for $10 or so. I suggest tomato rosemary soup with bagel chips, Tuscan bread and cheese (sometimes not on the menu?), spinach artichoke dip, coronation chicken salad, crab-nicoise salad, or the brie plate. It's worth it to ask for a wine recommendation too; they have a nice selection. It's always fun to listen to the live jazz (there is a cover charge), but sometimes you can catch free music in the front room, too (try holidays like Easter or Mother's Day). Talk to your table neighbors, make some friends, check out the rotating art selections, and kick back with a crossword or your laptop and enjoy yourself. If you try to make this place something other than a loungey cafe, you're going to hate it.

This place became "our place to go" this weekend while we visited Annapolis. They even saved us one night when we ate at another place down the block and were so bummed by the terrible food and service we stopped there for something to eat and it were thrilled with the food and the service. We had 2 breakfast meals there as well. The service if great, the tea and coffee and food all worth it!

Another little spot in Annapolis to which I am quickly becoming a regular. My first time there, loved the "feel" of it. It's a heavy meld of warm and cozy. One could easily blend with the decor. But... the coffee I ordered wasn't so grand. I didn't go back for a while until by chance one night I met the owners: Brian and his wife, Sara. Great people! When I told Brian of my experience, he insisted that I return for try number 2. I was blown away. I had a great Malbec, an amazing cup of espresso that was so decadent, it was akin to a liquid dark chocolate. I ate both the crab and the spinach dips, some ultra fresh bread, and a bowl of their cream of chicken curry soup. WOW!! I was blown away... I will go back again and again and again...

49 West has multiple personalities--it is a coffee shop, a wine bar, and a place to get a nice lunch/dinner. We decided to go there for dinner and a few drinks on a Friday night. We were able to grab a seat in their outside seating which was pretty (but we could have dealt without people smoking). For an appetizer, we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was a nice, creamy, good start to our meal. M ordered the pesto tuna sandwich with the potato salad. The sandwich was good--it had a nice piece of tuna that was cooked well and had food flavor. K got the hot roast beef sandwich which was good--but could have used a little more horseradish sauce. The side salad was also good. K had the lemonade martini which was basically a lemon drop--but still made well. M had a dirty martini that he said was well-balanced. The martinis also come with an extra "shot" of your drink. The prices are reasonable and we will return.

The service at this place is horrendous. I mean, it was so bad that I had to get up from my table and chase someone to bring my check! This is not Europe, where such negligence (to a lesser degree) would be acceptable. I felt very unattended to at 49 West. Not even sure what it exactly purports to be. There isn't a sign that says to seat one's self so I was standing for a good two minutes before one of the servers who was lounging on a chair and clicking away on his laptop finally said something to me. The servers were far from elegant or discreet in their discussing where I sat and their general attitude left much to be desired. It appears to be a casual places but the attitude of my server was hardly welcoming and when I had been utterly forgotten in a nearly empty restaurant during a very normal hour (6 PM) I finally went up to the counter asking for the check and the person behind inquired who was serving me even though there had only been one other server. Disorganized and unfriendly - the atmosphere really is lame. I had a soup and a salad. Even though I had asked what kind of soup it was the waitress neglected to tell me it was tomato-based. The soup was acidic, sour, and very salty. My face cringed from the sourness - not to mention that it wasn't the warmest. The salad was basic. I've had much better of the same variety for less money - somewhat dry and not very plentiful for the price. Definitely not returning, the service had me running out the door!

I visited 49 West for the second time for dinner last night & once again the food & service were great. Chelsea, who waited on my table last time, was my server again & I was very pleased because she is polite, helpful & friendly. She highly recommended the specials for the night if we liked Korean food. We do & we ordered bulgogi & it was amazing ... tasty & well seasoned! My son ordered the melted ham & Swiss with the green salad on the side & he enjoyed every bite. My martini was well made and I enjoyed every sip if it. I will return again with hopes of another good nightly dinner special & great service from Chelsea!

Its sad that the service is so poor because there are so few places in town where you can study while having a coffee and a glass of wine. I enjoy the roast beef sandwich and the cakes make me happy. Its nice to be able to sit near the window and work while the world goes by. However after living near and occasionally eating here I'm always disappointed to bring friends by and find myself forced to try and justify why I like this place! while my waitstaff is annoyed that i'm here and the bottom of my bottomless cup of coffee shows up far to many times. I've worked in the service industry for 5 years and I don't understand why, when Gen Y has been hit the hardest by unemployment rates, 49 West can't find some good strong people to work for them.

Really good coffee and very nice staff. Really need to work on the breakfast menu. Healthy or not steamed eggs are not good! Oatmeal for 6.25 with some sliced bananas needs to be hot at least---maybe that is not what they were going for but then it should be called muesli. Not a big fan of the early morning live preformance but that is just me. Get coffee and read the paper.

Just the perfect place for a late night dinner, wifi internet and good fun. There are many variables to the place we did not experience; live music , etc. since we arrived late on a Sunday evening. They were nearly the only place in Annapolis that was serving food. The best part was their extensive late night menu with plenty of healthy options. Try their quiche it's amazing!! The cheese plate was a perfect late night dinner. The service was very good as well.

A really great coffee shop! All the locals I spoke to in Annapolis told me *the* place to go for coffee is 49 West. And they were so right. With a nice chilled atmosphere, great music, awesome coffee and really tasty food 49 West should definitely be somewhere you stop in while in Nap Town. The service is great - friendly, quick and attentive. All in all, a great place to chill, read, work or gear up for the day. Highly highly recommended!

Friendly staff, excellent coffee, great atmosphere. The food is also excellent. I recommend the Rosemary Chicken Sandwich.

Part art gallery, part coffee shop and part wine bar. Delicious food, great coffee - the only spot in town with bottomless refills. A truly unique spot in downtown - be sure to try the chicken salad!

Like feeling sophisticated and artistic? Enjoy music with your artisan drinks or wine? Then 49 West is the place for you! The space is a little oddly laid out for live music, but they make it work. Honestly, perhaps the odd lay out contributes to the intimate atmosphere during live music events. The acts are usually good quality too. I still follow one of the groups that I saw here.

Went in to have a mid-afternoon coffee while visiting Annapolis on the first day of spring. The barista asked if we were eating in or taking out. We said 'in' and he told us to take a seat, that he could take our order only if we were taking the coffee out. The waitress took orders and served three other tables that came in after us. We left. Maybe they have great coffee but I'll never know. They sure have an order entry problem.

Great little hideaway place in Annapolis. Good menu, fantastic desserts. Great place to get a nice, hot beverage and relax. Live music in the back.

49 West is a reasonably priced coffee house/restaurant with a full bar. I went in for breakfast and found out that even tho it was 11:30 I could still get waffles!! The server (with a mohawk!) asked me if I wanted fruit, nuts or whipped cream added to my waffles. Yes I replied, and enjoyed every hot fluffy delicious mouthful with strong black coffee and a large iced tea. They had just changed the art exhibit so the scenery was interesting as always. Great food, great vibe, love to be a patron of locally owned venues.

A coffee shop, art gallery, wine bar, and music venue - all rolled into one? Great idea, and it seems to be working so far. I would have given it four stars if the service had been more attentive. If you like Jazz, stop in on Tuesday nights.

This place would be great if the staff actually cared about the customers. I've been there loads of time and have had many friends on staff. It's just not what they do there. The staff goofs off and speaks amongst themselves. I don't care how great the ambiance of a place is, ignoring guests is no fun. I know that's part of the deal when you go there, and I knew what to expect every time, but every time I was amazed by how bad the service was. On the other hand the food is good and relatively inexpensive, the staff is a bunch of "cool kids" there are fun to hang out with after work. The drinks are always a treat and there always some kind of cool live music in the back. Just don't go to this place if you want someone to wait on you because that is sort of your privilege here. I still love you Walker, Meredeth and everyone else. I'm sorry to bash you, but I still think it's not cool.

Okay, not the perfect coffee shop. Actually, if you want a coffee shop as such, you should go to City Dock. However, if you want coffee and a light meal for a lazy afternoon, it's great. Yes, service is often slow. Seriously, if you're in a hurry to go, you probably ought to get up and chase down the server, because there's no guarantee he or she will stop by in less than 15 minutes. However, the atmosphere is great, and the quiche is the best anywhere.

Grabbed coffee on a Sunday morning - easily found a seat, good service, good coffee. Can't comment much on food, but liked the live music. Bit of a funky vibe to this nice downtown spot. Would definitely come back for a coffee and pastry

I had a late lunch here with my boyfriend earlier today. We were in a rush and this was the closest place to our hotel. I was hesitant after reading the reviews here on yelp, however I was misinformed. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. She noticed that we were in a rush, so she rushed our food for us and as soon as she noticed we were done, she quickly brought over the check. My boyfriend's crabcake sandwich was amazing... infinitely better than what I get back home in Philly. I got the turkey sandwich, which was good as well. Maybe someone from the coffee shop saw the reviews on yelp and got the hint? Who knows. Either way, don't write this place off. I will definitely go there again while I'm in town this week.

If you want a nice coffee house breakfast or lunch, I would highly recommend 49 West over Chick and Ruths. C&R's is great for the experience and milkshakes, but 49 West has better food and coffee. Nice live music. Quieter setting. Very good service. We had the scrambled egg dish, waffles, and granola. All were good. Saw several lunch plates going by that looked nice.

You know what... I used to love this place. But there's something about it that kinda bugs me. There have just been one too many times where it's taken forever for a waiter to come take my order or bring me my check. It's a little ambiguous whether you're supposed to go up to the counter or just wait for someone at your table. I would be more than happy to take care of everything myself at the counter, but it seems like they want you to sit. But then every time I sit I end up waiting there forever and no one notices me, even when they just told me to sit down. I don't know.. I kinda got frustrated and stopped going there so much. The Jasmine tea is really good, and the chai and hot chocolate. The food is alright. The live music in the back is awesome. I guess I wish the staff was just friendlier. It would make a world of difference for that place. I guess the cool pirate guy with the awesome mustache is nice. But that's about it.

A friend of mine if from Annapolis took me and another friend here for a Sunday dinner. Sure, it's kinda hipster, but cozy and the live jazz was cool. I recommend ordering things that you think would be good at a hipster cafe. My friend ordered bruschetta and it didn't look very good (it was topped with excessive melted cheese). I got the veggie sandwich, and it was pretty tasty (I'm not even vegetarian). It could use more avacado, but I liked the warm pita. I ordered it with the green salad, which is basically the sandwich items but with the house sun-dried tomato vinegarette, and the sandwich itself comes with rosemary vinegarette (both dressings on the side). I recommend switching the dressings-- the thicker house dressing tastes great on the sandwich, and the more watery rosemary dressing pairs better with the salad. (For vegans, there's no mayo in the dressing or on the sandwich, and you can easily remove the swiss).

Oh 49 West, you have so much potential... Yet still don't understand the concept of customer service. I live in the downtown area after moving here a month ago and have frequented 49 West a half a dozen times. The food I've ordered including clam chowder, salads, quiche, sandwiches have been mediocre at best. The coffee is not good proving that even a local roaster can't help your inability to make a decent cup of joe. The barristas don't understand the espresso drinks and how they're different and should be made. My cappuccino was burned with too much milk, no foam. Fail. And even if the food were Great it's only part of the experience. Being friendly, courteous, helpful, even attentive would have been nice. Don't expect that here. 49, you're providing a service where the customer gets to vote with their wallets. I recommend heading down toward the dock to either Dock Street Coffee or Hard Bean Coffee & Books. I would skip 49 and look for number 1,

Good, but not great. Perfectly solid place to find food and coffee on West St. away from the tourist haze that sometimes lingers in DTA. I like it just fine.

Don't order food here. Last time I went I was given a mouldy croissant - after we complained they brought a second mouldy croissant (you'd think they would check). We had dinner here once and it was almost inedible too - lemon pepper salmon coated in a really thick layer of pepper. If you just want to take your time over a cup of coffee this could be a good pick. Just don't be in a rush - they like to take their time, or wait until you go up and ask for the bill.

Located at, well, 49 West Street, in Annapolis, 49 West is the perfect coffee shop. Before I go further, let me rave about their vanilla chai for a moment. It is seriously the best stuff on earth. I prefer it to alcohol. And I don't prefer anything to alcohol. It's amazing. It's little hippieish, as all coffee shops tend to be. At least the real ones. Starbucks doesn't count. The waiters there are SO friendly---a lot of them even end up coming out to parties, bars, whatever, after I go there with us. My friends and I frequent this place a lot, just cause it's so cool. They have a backroom, where they have small concerts with cool local/semi-local bands, which is nice if you are into music at all. They have a wide variety. It's in downtown Annapolis without being right down town, so it's a short walk to City Dock and all of the other attractions down there. They've got an outdoor seating area out back, which is nice for a sunny autumn afternoon or a summer night. They have a lot of regulars---people reading books, playing chess, etc. Go there a few times and the waiters will recognize you and know you by name. I love the atmosphere the best. And the chai tea. Mmmm....

This place is one place that is not like any other place in Annapolis! I have traveled to Italy and France and have not ever found anything close to the coffeehouses and restaurants in Europe other than 49 West! You can be a student or a business person and they have something for you. We loved the ambiance and different mixture of people in the restaurant. The staff are fun loving and very colorful and it seems like if you are a regular here, they treat you like family!

I work in Annapolis and have been here a number of times for breakfast and lunch over several years. The a decor is great, but takes a nosedive from there. They have a lite fare menu which is okay...nothing I have had has been great or made me say "yum" - but with the outdoor seating, good window views and artsy inside one could hope to get past that. However, the service is positively HORRIBLE. There is only one waitress who is good (the middle-aged one). Today, another waitress was sitting at a table texting for 8 minutes while my friend and I finished lunch and were waiting for the check. Last time, the coffee bar guy came outside every ten minutes or so for a cigarette break and smoked standing right near our outdoor table with his smoke wafting over our food. Then he flicked his burning cigarette into the bush near me. Classy. You are better off going to Reynolds, City Dock, or another place nearby (there are so many) unless you feel the need to punish yourself for sins from a past life or something.

Love this place! The food is always great, service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is cozy. Today was one of many visits, but my first time for lunch, and the experience was just as great as when I've been in for dinner or brunch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and even chased us down outside when I accidentally forgot my parking garage ticket on the table. If you're in Annapolis and want a fun, classy place to grab a bite and enjoy some local artists, this is your place!

High quality food, excellent service, easy on the $$ and all in one place? Absolutely. Throw in some high quality espresso drink options and some live music and a nice window seat and you wind up with a breakfast or brunch to remember. Menu wise, seriously, try the quiche and split a side of grilled potatoes with your other half or friend, the portions are generous. Enjoy the pics! (street parking but there is a lot of it),

I liked this place. The interior decor and set up had an artsy feel, and helped with the casual atmo I ordered the tuna melt, not feeling too hungry for much more. It was not the best I've had. The tuna was quite bland, frankly. I got a latte at the end. This was great. Served in a glass cup, with a nice consistent look and flavor.

Wine and Coffee. Two of my favorite beverages and 49 West has got both down pat. This cozy little cafe is great for a quick spot to grab lunch and then transitions perfectly into an intimate date night dinner location. They serve Ceremony coffee - a local roastery that has won awards for some of the best coffee in the WORLD! And they can make a killer latte. If you have any questions or need a recommendation for some espresso or a good wine, the staff is very helpful and they know their biznazz. As far as food, I cant comment much as I've only had a croissant from the glass case up front (which was still very yummy!) but their menu looks unique and interesting. Aside from food and drink, 49 West offers live music frequently. It is the cherry on the top for a laid back and cozy coffee/wine bar. They also showcase art from locals which is great. Check it out!

Neat place with a very chill vibe. Went here because they had a groupon deal and the reviews seemed decent. Ordered the crab cake and salmon and hummus. Came out to be $59.25. The crab cake was delicious very little stuffing. The salmon was a bit bland for my preference. Both plates came with steamed asparagus and rice mixed with corn. As for the hummus it was just hummus. Nothing extradionary about it. I liked how the dishes were simple but what I didnt like were the prices. Overall I would recommend this place as a place for a bite when visiting the Annapolis downtown area.

Really cute, artsy, casual cafe in downtown Annapolis. Wandered in here randomly on a Saturday morning for an iced coffee and loved the calm classy feel. They have live music!! At first i thought it was the radio, but the barista informed me that there was a live jazz band playing in the back room! They apparently go to practice there on the weekends. There was also a guitarist/singer setting up in the front room to play later. All the food I saw looked really good, but I only had an iced mocha (which was very good - Didn't need any additional sweetener).

A groupon is why I chose to eat here and it was a stone's throw from our hotel. That said, $3.50 for a cup of coffee is too high. However, the crab quiche with side of celery root slaw was very tasty. While the food was good, I don't think I would return here without a groupon as it was too expensive. Did enjoy the atmosphere for breakfast though.

The first time I came here I was lured by a Groupon. Usually by the time I get to West Street from Downtown I'm full of yummy goodness that I have no room for food or coffee. But this time we came out just to check this place out. I am so glad we did! They have such a Friendly wait staff, very welcoming almost as if we were all regulars there. The food is also good. However what really makes this place cool (in my opinion) is the small town coffee house feel. They have plenty of places for you to eat or just drink coffee inside and outside. The seating outside in back from the main entrance makes me feel like I'm in some European Coffee house. The local art decorating the place also helps make it feel very homey. Unlike most coffee shops, this place also has alcoholic drinks on the menu. Haven't tried any of those, but maybe next time we'll check it out, If I need a coffee house to shill and do homework this would definitely be the place!
Visited for brunch with my husband during our weekend in Annapolis for our first wedding anniversary. We were allowed to pick our seat, and walked out back to a quiet, shaded table. We both ordered a Cafe Mocha, which is close to the best I've had. It was served in a large glass mug, which I was pleasantly surprised with. Both of us enjoyed our entrees - crossaint sandwich, eggs espresso and Belgian waffles. The eggs were light and fluffy, perfectly cooked for my taste. We had a Living Social voucher, which helped with the price. If we are back in Annapolis in the near future, I would definitely return to this spot!

Really unique drink menu for coffee and alcoholic drinks. They made us a delicious Whiskey and hot chocolate that was insanely good. Cute decor and great art on the walls. Wish they took brunch reservations. Never eaten there but the food is supposed to be delicious and the menu is awesome

Second time I've been in the past two nights. The ambience is the best part about this restaurant. The wine is excellent, and the live music is superb from what I experienced (jazz band.) the second time I played scrabble with a group of 6 and it was perfect from 11-midnight. Perfect place for a late night finish.

One of the best breakfast spots I've enjoyed in Annapolis. Very friendly service. Artsy atmosphere. Wonderful location and the food was delectable. My only complaint was that the Belgian waffles looked like I could have stayed home and made them and the turkey bacon was nothing special. So much so that I didn't even snap a pic. (But that was my husbands issue=}.) My selection of quiche, fresh fruit, toasted Rosemary potatoes and cafe 'ole was mouthwateringly delish! Can't wait to go back in the springtime since its a skip away from the harbour.

I toyed with putting 3 or 4 stars. Could go either way. I can't speak to dinner but we had a nice breakfast there on Sunday. The bacon and cheddar quiche was tasty. The pain au chocolat wasn't what I was expecting but still tasty. The chocolat part tasted the same as in a traditional one but the pastry was different, puffier, lighter and flakier. I was surprised when I went to the back that the place was bigger than I realized. There was a whole other back room. There was also tables outside in the back in a little secluded area. (Not appealing since it was winter but should be nice 3/4 of the year.) The atmosphere is artsy and casual. There was a guitarist playing while we ate. There is the work of local artists on the walls. Paintings and photographs depending on the artist. From looking at the website, it is a coffeehouse not only in terms of food and drink but there are an impressive list of artists who perform there.

An amazing find while strolling through downtown Annapolis. We had some time to kill before heading back to the airport, and came across this brilliant little lounge. I mean, really, what's better than a coffee house / wine bar? The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, and the drink selection is perfect. "Coffee with a Kick" was perfect on a drizzly day. Wish we lived nearby, because we would definitely come back!

Ok coffee, rudest servers I've come across in a while. I would not come back We ordered a coffee and pastry at the bar for take away (and tipped well). The coffee didn't come with a top and was full to the brim so we sat at a at a table in the nearly empty coffee shop to drink enough to be able to walk with it. A male server told us it was table service, asked us to move.asked another server if there was a place we could drink the tip third of our coffee so we could take it on the road and told a resounding no. I could understand if they were full and had people waiting for seats but having already tipped well at the counter, I was surprised at the rudeness.

The atmosphere and service are great. I ate breakfast here twice in one weekend. Both times I enjoyed my visit, although I didn't find that the food met my expectations. The options were interesting, though the quality of the food just didn't meet my expectations. The corned beef hash tasted like it came from a can. The Crab Scallion Quiche was good, but it was covered in so much cheese, I could barely taste anything else. And I am a gal who loves my cheese. (The cheese itself wasn't anything special.) Before I ordered the corned beef hash, I wanted to order a side of home fries (Roasted Potatoes) but they didn't have any ready. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal. In fact, it was a relaxing meal that I enjoyed while listening to live jazz music. I'd probably go again, unless I discovered somewhere that made significantly better food.

Great place to hang out and relax in Annapolis. One of the very few laid back places to chill in town. The coffee and desserts are excellent. They often have good live jazz music many nights in the back room. Great place to sit and catch up with an old friend or read a book while sipping coffee.

looked like a cool hangout but was sourly disappointed with the service, coffee, and food the 2 of us had cappuccinos that were very well done, so I order another, all foam no coffee, obviously the barista was taking a smoke break, had to send it back we had chipotle shrimp, very good and smoked salmon wraps, very good but the bed of salad was the bad part, wilted, not dressed, and was probably sitting on counter for hours service was slow for such a small place, we waited for 20 minutes for coffee then another 15 for food, not bad for a normal restaurant, but with less than 10 people and 2 waitresses, I would expect better service I had to stand up and walk over to them to break them away from chatting with very boring musician I will not go again and don't recommend it one very good cappuccino was it for me

Last week, my husband and I decided to take our dog to Annapolis for a nice little walk around the water and a light lunch outside. Upon arrival, we realized there was a boat show going on and that it was going to be nearly impossible to get a table anywhere. We were just going to head home, when my husband decided to drive over to 49 West to see if they were affected by all of the craziness since they're a little further away from the water. What a great idea! There were quite a few people inside but we were able to score a little table out back right next to the water bowl for the pup. My husband ordered a quiche dish with a side of roasted potatoes, and I ordered the healthy turkey sandwich with a side salad. My husband seemed to like his, but I wasn't paying too much attention to him as I devoured my sandwich. It was delicious!! Sliced turkey, smoked gouda, strawberry dijon...does it get any better than that?! Ummm...no. My only complaint is that there was not MORE of the strawberry dijon sauce. Ahhhmazing. As usual, the service was a little slow. They always seem a little understaffed to me, but we were just out to enjoy a nice relaxing Sunday, so we weren't too worried about it. I don't know that we will be back for dinner any time soon since our dinner experience was just so-so, but I will most definitely be returning for lunch. I MUST have that sandwich again!! Plus, anywhere that I can have lunch with my dog counts as a win for me!

I love 49 west. They have everything i like. Decor is comfortable and inviting. Even though on the little cozy side. Great Breakfast and coffee. Lunches and dinners with a unique menu. As well as an diverse line-up of music all week long. Great place.

I've frequented 49 West since high school. It's a quaint and quiet place right on West Street and offers a sanctuary for those interested in escaping the loud bar scenes that flank this place. I can't speak to their food, but their coffee and dessert selections are very nice. Sometimes they have live jazz music, but you have to pay to sit in that seating area. I'd consider this place average for what it offers. However, it's one of the only places like it in downtown Annapolis.

I liked the feel of this place and enjoyed the food as well. My mother and I ate lunch here and we both ordered half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. The food didn't blow us away, but was still good stuff. We both came away satisfied. I would pay this place another visit.

This place has an artsy vibe and won't appeal to every one's taste. It's a neighborhood place for the starving student, brooding artist to the eccentric genius. Always our late night stand by--cozy, eclectic and food--open & serving late most nights. And one of the most reasonable weekend breakfast spots to enjoy a good selection of breakfast items from eggs espresso to waffles, and a good cup of coffee. Vegans and vegetarians both will find something to nibble on the menu. Nice wines, liquors and coffees round out the meals if so desired. Dessert case full of cakes, cheesecakes, torts and pastries to tempt. A full coffee bar service is available for lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, Americano and those with a kick offered as well, The servers are sometimes stretched to cover too many tables. If you go, go with a light heart, a good attitude and with the expectation that a meal out should be savored and enjoyed. This is one of those spots to linger, not shovel in your face and leave. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. The rear outdoor seating seems to attract the smokers so beware selecting those seats if smoke offends. The front two outdoor cafe tables are good seats for people watching on busy West Street. The owners encourage community in their establishment. You'll find Brian hanging out in one of his stylish hats most evenings. 49 West supports music and the arts offering their walls to artists for display and sale of their works. Musicians play in the front and in the rear performance club section--variety abounds: jazz, blues, classical. You never know what you'll find. Great location on West Street. Metered parking out front until 7:30pm. Park in Gotts garage and walk through the alley. Or take the free trolley from any point in Annapolis to arrive on their door step.

Took my in laws to Annapolis to visit and stopped for a quick coffee and muffin before tour. Although staff is generally nice the service is very very very slow. Obviously should not take 40 plus minutes for a coffee and muffin. As I write this I still do not have my order. Based on this alone they get one star.

(4)Riley H.
Delicious food & great service. Had a croissant sandwich with a mimosa. Great place! The food came out quick & they have espresso steamed eggs. Which is a great idea, google it if you don't know what it is!
(5)Susan B.

Your call!
(2)Richard W.

(4)Rick R.

(2)Patrick R.

(2)John R.
49 West is a great spot to stop in for coffee and dessert and their sandwich options are quite tasty. Definitely a place to visit during a trip to Annapolis.
(4)Melissa P.
(4)Michael R.

(5)Trux S.
(3)Adina J.
(5)Jen M.
Very cool little independent coffeehouse that supports undiscovered musicians. Popped in here to escape the loud drunk scene on St. Patty's Day. Great music, great service. Coffee is good not great. Nice little wine list. And the food looked really good, too.
(4)Jandi K.
(3)Jason K.
Easter Sunday As always, Live Music, Staff has a great attitude, and very very good Clam Chowder as the soup of the day. Crab Cake on a Croissant with poached eggs was good as well.
(5)Walter B.
I always stop by for coffee when I am in Annapolis for business. I haven't been disappointed yet.
(5)Stephanie B.
Reminiscent of Central Perk on Friends! :) quaint, laid-back atmosphere. Bring a laptop, book, E-reader or tablet while enjoying some delicious food. Definitely recommend the Rosemary Chicken Sandwich!
(4)Christopher S.
(4)Emily M.

(3)Lindsay W.
Great meeting spot for breakfast. The eggs espresso were a first for me, and definitely hit the spot. The others in my group were equally satisfied by their fruit and oatmeal and Belgian waffle.
(4)Christine C.
(3)Bill L.
Great food iffy service. I had the crab quicke and a salad. It was marvelous. I had to eventually walk back to the bar to pay. Waitress never came back after delivering my food. Sat there at least a half hour. I guess some people might think that was okay, meh.
(4)Evan J.

(4)Lisa G.
(3)Megan F.
(5)Ed S.
(5)Tanis G.
(4)KM S.

(5)Susannah O.
(3)Jeff G.
Patients, learn it. Great place to relax. If you are a type A personality, this is not the place for you.
(4)Alex J.
Horrible service was forgivable due to the fantastic food (breakfast in my case), coffee, and live music. It has a small, local vibe. I would definitely go back.
(4)Lark L.
(3)Alex L.
(5)Will R.
(5)William K.
Friendly staff, excellent coffee, great atmosphere. The food is also excellent. I recommend the Rosemary Chicken Sandwich.
(5)Matt C.
Part art gallery, part coffee shop and part wine bar. Delicious food, great coffee - the only spot in town with bottomless refills. A truly unique spot in downtown - be sure to try the chicken salad!
(5)Dmytro A.
(4)Karl B.
(1)Ted K.
Great little hideaway place in Annapolis. Good menu, fantastic desserts. Great place to get a nice, hot beverage and relax. Live music in the back.
(5)Miriam O.
(5)Chris B.
A coffee shop, art gallery, wine bar, and music venue - all rolled into one? Great idea, and it seems to be working so far. I would have given it four stars if the service had been more attentive. If you like Jazz, stop in on Tuesday nights.
(3)Daniel L.

Best coffee shop in Annapolis! Great drinks, awesome desserts. Live music, local artwork on the walls. Pretty and friendly waitstaff, especially Shannon.
(5)Mike M.
Everything you want in a coffee shop! Dinner and lunch specials change often. Live music, late night menu and killer service. I love this place and I don't even drink coffee!!!
(5)David B.

Music in the back room. Don't stop at the coffee shop . . . go to the back room. Music every night from 7 to 11 or so. Very eclectic. $5+ cover.

Best place in Annapolis!
(5)T Y.
Good, but not great. Perfectly solid place to find food and coffee on West St. away from the tourist haze that sometimes lingers in DTA. I like it just fine.
(2)Amy H.

(5)Kevin D.
(street parking but there is a lot of it),
(5)Bubba T.

(4)Nicole F.
(3)Jen L.

49 West is a nice place to go and relax. The versatile function of the place makes it an easy option for breakfast, lunch, coffee, dinner, and drinks. The lunch sandwich option comes with a side salad and usually can fill you up for just over $10, with table service. It's also a good alternative to chain cafes to chill, study, or catch up with a friend. It's a gallery, event venue, wine bar, and café. I can dig it! Especially since it's provided a reliable haven during lunchtime for my personal study sessions. I would skip here for Restaurant Week, though. The lunch deal is about $16 and one option gets you (at least this season) a sandwich that comes with a side salad (the norm) and a coffee o tea. Granted, the sandwiches are "specials" they don't usually have on the menu, but I had the turkey rueben, which was something I definitely had had on a regular day for the same price (about $10). Now, getting Restaurant Week lunch is like paying extra $6 for a coffee. My waitress informed me that these sandwiches (turkey rueben, crab melt, and maybe something else) would only be available at the end of the week, but how do you explain the one I'd had a couple of weeks ago? 49 West is what it is. It's versatile. The back room is surprisingly spacious and I didn't discover it earlier. I'll probably continue to frequent here as long as I work in town for some alone time to do work.

(4)Louisa E.

(5)Zee A.
(4)Jock M.

(5)Lalit S.
Great Rosemary Chicken..and potato salad side.... Coffee a little weak...overall great spot for art music and food....tasted my son's Mac and cheese with Bacon was very good too...street parking meter $2 per hour.... Enjoy...:)...oh yeah friendly hostess did a fine job...:)

(1)Amanda S.
(3)Ian B.
Great place any time of day. $3.50 for bottomless coffee and very reasonably priced fresh baked goods are my favourite reason for visiting. Always music and art and the staff are all welcoming.
(5)J. G.
There's not much in the way of vegan food, but my sisters loved what they ordered and all of our drinks were outstanding! Very cool vibe, great music and awesome service.
(4)Paula S.
Great place to hang out and relax in Annapolis. One of the very few laid back places to chill in town. The coffee and desserts are excellent. They often have good live jazz music many nights in the back room. Great place to sit and catch up with an old friend or read a book while sipping coffee.
(5)Susan P.
Eggs espresso were great.. hot & fresh. Satisfied our picky eater, too. Friendly service. I asked if I could order and be out in 30 minutes, and they made it happen. Nice staff, tummy food and great location.
(5)Scott L.
looked like a cool hangout but was sourly disappointed with the service, coffee, and food the 2 of us had cappuccinos that were very well done, so I order another, all foam no coffee, obviously the barista was taking a smoke break, had to send it back we had chipotle shrimp, very good and smoked salmon wraps, very good but the bed of salad was the bad part, wilted, not dressed, and was probably sitting on counter for hours service was slow for such a small place, we waited for 20 minutes for coffee then another 15 for food, not bad for a normal restaurant, but with less than 10 people and 2 waitresses, I would expect better service I had to stand up and walk over to them to break them away from chatting with very boring musician I will not go again and don't recommend it one very good cappuccino was it for me

(5)Justin H.
(3)Kari D.
I liked the feel of this place and enjoyed the food as well. My mother and I ate lunch here and we both ordered half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. The food didn't blow us away, but was still good stuff. We both came away satisfied. I would pay this place another visit.
(4)Kimberly B.
(4)Jason B.
