Tucked away behind some businesses in Woburn is the nondescript Maki Maki. Its interior treads into the "I'm trying way too hard to be hip" territory. But the All You Can Eat is the #1 best I've been to in a long time. The quality is awesome, service isn't painfully slow (some AYCE places drag and take their time serving you in hopes you'll fill up), and if you do AYCE for dinner, a $25 fee nets you unlimited servings of ANYTHING off the dinner menu (sans fried ice cream). I must have eaten like $60 worth of sashimi. I am pretty sure I'm on some blacklist now. I went here with my boyfriend, who is twice my size and weight - you could see them sizing us up and figuring he'd be the one to run them dry, but he stuck to simple Americanized rolls while I became a sashimi black hole. It was so incredibly delicious and satisfying, I will most definitely be back if I am in the need to splurge. Also, it's pretty decently clean and fresh as well, both deal breakers for me.

I have loved sushi since my dad introduced it to the family in '96. I have had sushi around the world so I can definitely tell a good maki roll from a so so one. Did you know that they serve all varieties of sushi warm in Punta Arenas, Chile? Niether did I til I waited for what seemed like eternity only to be served a hot plate of toasty eel w avocado and a warm salmon roll. Any how I digress. Maki maki has a lunch and dinner sushi buffet that is made to order. That meand you can order as much or as little as you like with one caveat -- you must finish everything on your plates or else be charged per item for not doing so. Not sure if they have this on the menu as a deterrent to order excess food or whether they actually do charge you. Our party of 6 did not want to find out so we made sure to finish it all. Our favorites were the sexy girl, the merry Christmas and the crab puff appetizer. The rest of the maki were rather average. The $5 mai tais were excellent. I am giving this place 4 stars because of attentive service, clean and welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff. The sushi is hit or miss so that puts my sushi rating at a 3.5 out of 5. We did receive a few rolls that were meant to be served cold, but the rice was warm which diluted the flavors of the fish. Perhapd they were a bit overwhelmed in the kit hen as this was a busy saturday lunch.

My coworkers go here for the all you can eat lunch special when we want an affordable "sushi" fix. Parking is great once you find the actual restaurant. It's tucked in off the main road, in between Staples and Fresh City. The price is great and there are a handful of good maki rolls to choose from. I've never been here for dinner but they have a great cocktail menu with cheap exotic drinks and oyster specials. Similar to other "all you can eat" places, you have to eat what you order or pay up the difference. We usually get a combination of rolls and just try each kind. My go to would be the eel avocado and Philly roll. I wasn't a fan of the one drizzled with sweet chili sauce, I'm a fan of the saltier maki rolls. Service is usually good but the wait for some of the rolls could be long. I would recommend selecting the rolls before ordering apps because the rolls are more time consuming to prepare. For apps, I recommend the kani salad (imitation crab meat), seaweed salad and fried shumai. For food pics, check out mami-eggroll.com/2014/05…

I wanted to LOVE this place so bad. I had such high expectations because I absolutely LOVE the location in Brighton. The restaurant is located in what seems to be a business park within a very residential neighborhood in Woburn. If I didn't google map sushi (I had a craving one Friday afternoon and wanted to check out different areas) I would never have known this existed! I went here on Wednesday night with my bf and it was CROWDED. I mean it was so loud like you were at a club - how was it so loud though? it's like people were screaming. Anyway, on to the food. It's not like Maki Maki in Brighton where you get up and serve yourself. You have a waiter/waitress and you tell them (not on a sheet) but verbally what you want. The maki rolls were ok - I wasn't impressed. They have an array of apps that I tried which were good such as the beef short ribs. The sashimi, however is delicious.... DELICIOUS and fresh. Our waiter mis-heard me (probably because the table next to me was screaming???) what I wanted to order and brought out something completely different. He gladly took it back though. Dessert is included - try the fried oreos with vanilla ice cream :) 4 stars due to fresh fish, not 5 because I wasn't a fan of the maki rolls.

Went here for the first time this evening. Was not what I expected it to be! It is all-you-can-eat sushi, let me clarify that does not mean it's a buffet. The waitress came to my table and asked if we wanted drinks. She was incredibly sweet and bubbly. Then, she came back and proceeded to explain how it worked. Basically, they have a menu. You choose the types of sushi you want on the menu Per piece, or roll. You can order as much as you want, but you have to eat it all, you cannot leave anything on the table as you will get charged extra. It was a very positive experience, nice vibe, food was good. I will definitely be back!

We came for the all you can eat lunch. I would honestly say I was happier with the cooked items than anything else. Gyoza was perfect. Teriyaki salmon was more than perfect (we ordered two orders and my son loved it). Miso soup was the worst we had ever had, sadly. Pretty limited options for sushi rolls, and zero options for sashimi. Despite the fact that we were one of three tables, food came very slow. After ordering a few things the server asked if we bought we could finish (I assume to avoid the awkwardness of having to tell us we would be billed for what was left on our plates). Price point is where it's at. I think we paid $15 per? That's far below any decent all you can eat I've been to. I'd come back for lunch, and probably order more from the cooked to order menu this time.

Fresh fish cheap if you can eat a lot. I didn't notice any Japanese around. This is a place where you really load up. Both sushi and sashimi are of excellent supermarket quality. You won't get sick. You won't write raving reviews. At least I won't. But it is an okay place to load up on omega 3 fatty acids. The staff was very friendly, patient, fast and helpful. It is as well run as an all-you-can-eat sushi place can be.

Awesome service and yummy buffet! The lunch buffet is 14.99/dinner is 23.99 on weekdays. Weekends are about two three bucks more. Not bad for the choices you get though!

This is my first visit and I showed up right at opening time (12:00pm). I had the dinner buffet for $25.99 and was told from the lady who worked there when I came that EVERYTHING in the menu book is included for the dinner buffet. Turns out, the fried ice cream is not. The waiter's English was not very good and I couldn't even understand what he was trying to tell me. He told me that he tried to tell me it wasn't included in the buffet. That was pretty upsetting. I didn't bother to argue over $3. It was the principle that mattered. The workers won't be ready right away if you come right at opening time. They were profusely sorry about the wait time because they said they just opened. I was at the restaurant for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. That was a pretty long time sitting in there. If you do plan to get at the buffet here, plan on having the extra time for that. The quality of the sushi here seems to be pretty good (salmon, tuna, etc). The wasabi they serve you seems old and clumpy. The rolls are pretty good, except for the deep fried rolls. I wish they would annotate which rolls are deep fried because deep fried rolls (tiger roll) are absolutely disgusting and I'd never eat it. I'll have to ask them the next time I come. I don't really know which rolls is which, since they just bring a dish out. However, I was able to figure it out eventually. The fried ice cream was pretty good. I didn't bother eating all that fried batter though. I also ordered a green tea ice cream. I remember seeing one of the review pictures here on Yelp saying that it was bitter. I thought to myself that the guy must be crazy and didn't believe it. I was wrong!! The green tea ice cream was bitter as crap. I don't even know why they call it green tea. It must be a bitter melon ice cream or something. I took one bite and that was it for me. Disgusting...

Came here last night for a friends birthday and we all had am amazing night. The service was absolutely amazing! We had two waiters but I only remember William and they were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. All you can eat sushi and $5 Mai Tai's count me in! I'll be back again.

I have such mixed feelings about this place, so mixed I feel dizzy. On one hand, you got yourself a working sushi buffet model, packed with quality sushi with a decent variety of food. On the other hand, the service can be sluggishly slow (as you place your order verbally). Right dab in between, you have yourself a relatively good price of $26 for dinner buffet, on a Saturday. So, pros and cons aplenty - it's buffet, so don't expect over the top quality, but for what it is, Maki Maki does a good job. Plus, it's not as packed nor as annoying to get to via car as it's counterpart in Brighton. Definitely my go to sushi place if I'm in the Woburn area!

Reasonable price for made to order all you can eat. Everything was extremely fresh, service was good, w/ a clean and contemporary decor.

Place SMELLS like Raunchy fish, the SMALLEST piece of Salmon in my Fiancées Philadelphia Roll...it was pathetic. Our $15 Dollar Scorpion Bowl had about an Ounce of Alcohol in it. The staff was very friendly though. Step it up people!!

Table service and a menu, but priced as an all-you-can-eat buffet! You get a menu with tons of tasty treats listed, but no prices. Dinner was $25 and you could just keep ordering whatever you wanted! The sushi was nicely presented, like you'd see laid out at a "regular" Japanese restaurant. The hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi was amazing. I also had the salmon, white tuna, and pepper salmon. All were very good quality and served at the right temperature. Also had some steak tatami w pepper, which was super spicy but good. Steamed shumai and pork potstickers were pretty good. General tso's chicken was so-so. For the price it was a great deal. Especially for getting sashimi, which most buffets don't offer due to the high cost-per-calorie ratio. Decor was also pretty swanky. On the "crazy Asian rainbow lighting" scale it was a little intense but interesting. We're going back later this week!

Hows this for crazy, my grandmother had to sit by herself at her own table because she is not doing the buffet!!! How do you expect an 80 year old to scarf down $25 worth of Sushi. Shame on you!!! All people in your party who sit together must do buffet. Stupid!

I was in town for business staying at the nearby Hilton when, after a long day of meetings, I decided to splurge and try Maki Maki's All You Can Eat set up. It was a little weird going in by myself as a solo business traveler, and it would've been more enjoyable in a group, but I read the previous reviews and decided I could check emails between orders, which worked out really well. First I ordered about six sashimi pieces, which were surprisingly fresh and tasty. Then I ordered the Sexy Girl and Merry Christmas rolls--both tasted delicious as well. I followed that up with General Tso's chicken; the succulent pieces of white meat chicken came out piping hot! To finish, I ordered more sashimi and some green tea ice cream. While the latter did have a bitter taste, since I like green tea bitter, I was happy enough. Service was attentive and not annoyingly so and the restaurant had a cool vibe. If I lived around here, I'd want to go here with friends to eat, drink, and be merry. I highly recommend and the only reason I knock it down a star is that the AYCE dinner price is steep.

Yet another round at the all you can eat sushi circuit in the Boston area. I feel like a pro! Maki Maki is a great order as you go option if you are craving sushi, and have a black hole of a stomach like myself. For $26 weekend rate you can order all the fish! I actually was very happy with the inventive rolls (favorite being the 'Magic Box'), and they had some great sushi appetizers (the 'Salmon Skin Salad' and 'Tai Jalepano' were amazing). The regular sushi and sashimi were also a solid option as well. The serving sizes of each were great for sharing, and since it's all you can eat if someone steals (a.k.a. eats too much) you can always order more! Another plus to this place is the great drink specials they offer. They have a few $5 all day specials, and it's hard for me to say no to a large hot sake with sushi. The perfect pair... Mayhaps.

Wow I'm here again, no surprise. Thank you for always understanding and letting me walk in an hour before you close, also letting me stay 30min after you close LOL. So great. For a random Wednesday night, there was a few tables that were full. My waiter was really chill, was really patient when I took my time to order my food! Which all came out eventually. I'm so glad that even though they close and I can't finish the last couple pieces of sushi, they'll let me go anyways with paying an extra dime LOL. The appetizers came out fairly quickly. It came out 1 after the other instead of all at once and it was great to take my time to eat 1 thing at a time. Calamari, shrimp tempura, shumai, and tuna tartare. All pretty good. Calamari quite salty and the tartare took a little while to come out. Then the first round of sashimi; tuna, white tuna, salmon, and some eel. Tuna and white tuna were on point. They were bomb af. Then the second round we just ordered tuna and white tuna because they were that good! A little cold the 2nd time doe. I don't even what we ordered for the special makis to be honest. The spicy tuna was filled with fish, but not enough spice. The shrimp tempura roll was really yummy from what I can remember LOL. The ice cream doe. After the kitchen closes, they will still serve you ice cream. Yaaaas. Best green tea ice cream you can get at a buffet. It's very bitter and that's my fav. Along with a scoop of red bean makes it a perfect pair!

We got the all you can eat lunch. It was only $15, so I knew not to expect too much. The menu was pretty limited, and the quality was so-so. I bet if you order off the full menu the food is better, but also more expensive.

OK. I come to eat at Maki Maki about once a week during lunch. I usually don't write reviews. HOWEVER, I decided to try out another comprable all you can eat place and was severely dissapointed. That is what spurred this review. Maki Maki is far and away the best sushi in town. Simply amazing quality and freshness. $16 for all you can eat is incredible!! Look nowhere else. Maki Maki is your spot. Not 5 stars because the service is sometimes slow and the tempura is so-so. Otherwise, this place is perfect! I'm sorry I ever betrayed you MM!!

I can not say enough nice things about this restaurant!!!!!!!! Parking - HUGE parking lot, plenty of parking. Staff - Very friendly and attentive staff. Price - Very reasonable all you can eat prices. Lunch $14.99, Weekend Lunch $16.99, Dinner $23.99, Weekend Dinner $25.99. They do have a order whatever you want, just eat whatever you order policy. If you don't, they will charge you if they have to throw away food, which IMO is fair. On the other hand, it does make me hesitant about trying things I haven't tried before, because if I don't like it, I'll be forced to eat it... but that's ok. My advice is to come with a large group, that way you get to try a little bit of everything everyone orders. Food - AMAZING!!! Most all you can eat, or buffet-type places will give you the cheapest crap they can cook up. But the food here is amazing & fresh. I've come here several times & never got a bad meal. Again, I wish some of their rolls you can order a 1/2 a roll (4 peices - rather than 8), because I'd like to try a little of this, a little of that, etc.... and if I don't finish it, I don't want to have to waste the food... but again, go with a group. That will solve that problem. :) One of the BEST Japanese places in MA (in my opinion)

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I've been here on two occasions. The first was absolutely dreadful and the second was alright. First experience - I came during my lunch break from work and my sister had one during school. So we were on a time crunch. I'm just gonna keep this short because I can write a whole novel about this place. We basically waited the entire hour and still our food did not arrive. Mind you - we only ordered two freaking sushi rolls. We ended taking the sushi to go and I complained to the employees there and I NEVER do that unless it's serious. We received a $5 gift card - like what can I get with that, a soda? That day, two other parties had to take their food home as well and were unhappy because their service was awful and painfully slow. My sister and I were late heading back. Second experience - I told myself I would never come back but came again during a calmer day. We were given another table's appetizer and it stayed on our table for a while. They just took it and gave to the correct table. Um what if I touched the food? I would of given the customer a brand new dish. Our food took long to come out again but luckily I was not in a rush that day. Our waitress was pretty good this time. Okay so I said nothing about the taste of their sushi so far. It is very tasty and authentic. I actually really love their sushi. But I cannot get over their service. They need to step up their game if they want to be a successful business. Don't you get sick of people constantly yelling at you for your horrendous service?!

This is a great lunch spot if you want all you can eat sushi. I come here at least once a week and am never disappointed. Also has plenty of options to pick from. It's very hard to find a good all you can eat spot, as I tried Nana in Billerica. It was horrific. Fantastic sushi lunch spot. MM kills it

  • Angel P.

The prices are decent. I've been here a couple times for the all you can eat buffet. The quality of the food is ok. They charge you $1 for each piece of sushi not eaten. This place is not always packed like the Brighton location which is a nicer change. There was one special sushi roll on the all you can eat menu that I forgot the name of but it had a chef's special sauce that tasted like sweet and sour sauce that did not compliment the sushi roll.

  • S L.

I think just ridiculous charge $11something for Kids 3 and up, especially for my 3-year-old picky eater just too much. Otherwise I will give 4 stars for the food. Hope they will change the policy.

Amazing sushi, sashimi, maki and special rollls! A great value for the dinner All You Can Eat option. Left there feeling fat and happy! We were very happy with the service too. The waitress was very cheery and pleasant.

  • Irina R.

Sushi was mediocre. Mackerel tasted like it had come out of a can. Fish inside maki rolls looked like it had been pulverized. Anything listed with spicy mayo was slathered in thick, too-sweet mayonnaise. Rice was overlooked. Nothing tastes good. Need I continue?

    (1)
  • Sanny K.

Thumbs down Maki Maki! I love your sushi, but tonight's meal was a huge disappointment. We ordered the spider roll, gangnam style and Godzilla roll. All 3 were fried and tasted horrible! It tasted like old oil and left an awful after taste. The calimari was extremely chewy and the crab puffs were too hard. Our waiter was also slow. I waited forever for him to come and refill our waters. I know you can do better!

  • Judy T.

I've come here multiple times for the lunch and dinner buffet. For lunch, there is a one sided menu from the basic tempura food to a few speciality rolls. For roughly $15, it's a good deal For dinner, it's the entire menu so you can order anything from sashimi, maki or speciality rolls to desserts. It's roughly $25 per person Overall, I like the food and I have no problem with any of the items. The only downside is that service can be a little slow even when the place isn't that packed

BAD BAD BAD!!! I ordered the sushi lunch special, which came with a miso soup and any choice of 2 maki rolls on the menu (excluding the special ones), for $8. I. would. not. eat. this. sushi. again. if. it. were. FREE. The miso soup literally tasted like a cigarette. No exaggeration. I think I had about two sips out of it and tossed the rest. Just plain nasty. Next up, the spicy tuna maki. I HATE when restaurants GRIND UP THE TUNA and mix it in with spicy mayo...is this anyone else's pet peeve with spicy tuna?! How hard is it to leave it whole, slice it, and put the mayo on top? Not only does it look better, but it tastes better and stays fresher than making mass quantities of "spicy tuna". It was disgusting needless to say. My final chance of redemption was the salmon avocado maki. This had potential...until I saw a shiny residue forming ontop of the salmon. Almost looked like when you have roast beef cold cuts in the fridge for too long and it gets thats weird shiny layer on it? Anyways, this should NOT be happening to fresh fish...clearly this was not fresh whatsoever. It was just gross, please take my advice and do not go there.

Maki Maki? More like yummy yummy. The place is classy, clean, fresh and just great. I've been here a few times including valentine's day and for someone who isn't a sushi lover, they have the largest selection of cooked/non seafood sushi I've seen. And dont get me started on the crab Rangoon's and non sushi items. This place has quickly become a favorite of mine.

  • Brenna R.

I am a huge fan of the all you can eat dinner buffet. They have a menu to choose from appetizers to soups to salads to sushi rolls to dinners to desserts. You can get as much as you want. My all time favorite roll is called "Slammin' Salmon" roll. It basically is a salmon maki roll, with salmon roe on top. It's so good. Words cannot describe how delicious it is. They also have rolls that have jalapenos on top and sriracha sauce. YUM. Great place for groups or even a date! I also love their banana tempura and ginger ice cream - ALL YOU CAN EAT. I love dessert. Be prepared to starve yourself all day if you do decide to the the buffet.

It really would've been 2 stars, but my waiter was basically the highlight of my evening. It was a Saturday night and we made a reservation for 10, for the all you can eat buffet (for a birthday), and we brought in a SURPRISE cake for one of my family members and told the hostess to put it in the fridge till we ask her for it. We were seated fairly quickly, due to the fact that our table was already set up, which was quite nice. As we were seated, we were immediately greeted by our waiter, Kenji. He was super nice and friendly, and didn't try to rush us. He told us that we can go to the "salad bar" for more apps, but the so called "salad bar" was merely just some cut up fruit and 3 different types of salad (one was seaweed salad). Yeah that's a salad bar for sure! Our food came out bits at a time, some apps came out first, then some sushi, and then some more apps. I recommend just ordering anything you want at first because they are pretty slow, ESPECIALLY if you're in a big party. Personally, I loved the sashimi the best. The salmon and tuna sashimi were BOMB! Definitely tasted the freshness, so good. The Merry Christmas roll was bomb too! We ordered other simple rolls like spicy tuna/salmon, rainbow, eel, etc. They were good, but not great. Besides sushi, we ordered hot dishes like, eel fried rice, which was just like any other fried rice, udons, and pad thai. DON'T GET THE PAD THAI HOLY CRAP. It litterally was just rice noodles in sweet and sour sauce.. and the noodles were pinkish red.. THAT'S NOT PAD THAI!! Urgh worst dish of the evening. When we finally requested the desert, the hostess bluntly asked if she should bring the cake out in front of the birthday boy. After making hints to her not to say anything, she kept on repeating if the desert should be brought with the cake... I don't know if it's because we didn't make clear enough instructions for her, or if she didn't have any common sense. Besides that, the green tea icecream was really bitter, but it wasn't bad. Overall, the food was solid, the service was questionable, but our waiter was so awesome. He was so joyful and personable, and definitely wanted us to have a good time. He deff made my experience 10x better. I don't think I'd be returning anytime soon.

Overall great value and quality! Went on a weekend night and it was $26/person. Menu is massive and includes hot appetizers, sushi appetizers, sashimi, regular maki rolls, specialty maki rolls, and a selection of teriyaki, noodles, rice, and chicken. They do have $5 drink specials all day everyday. I had a lychee martini and MaiTai. They were quite weak, but I didn't expect too much for $5. This was the only negative aspect of my visit. I would definitely be back soon. Weekend lunch is only $17, so may be worth going earlier for the price

it was ok. Cosmo X and i did the AYCE was not totally thrilled as most of the pieces were very small and from what i could see were pre cut.. the sushi chefs just rolled and cut and dressed the sushi and sent it out. the food was very fresh but doubt i will make a repeat visit. there aretoo many sushi restaurants and only a small segment are great.

Can't. Rave. Enough!!!! The food was fantastic and the service was phenomenal!!! We went there for dinner last weekend and it was one of the best restaurant experiences I had!! We took 'all you can eat' to a whole other level!!! And had the fried ice cream for dessert, fab!! Definitely recommend!!!

Let me start out by saying that I've been waiting for this place to open since August. AUGUST. I drove by the site daily, hoping that it would be open. I drove by yesterday and to my surprise, there was a Grand Opening sign out!! Ok...that's cool, I guess? Well, we stopped by that evening after work to try out the all you can eat sushi. I was expecting a buffet like Minado in Framingham. Nope! They have a menu where you can order over and over at the all you can eat price. ($21.99 for dinner). Pros: The sushi comes out super fresh, since they prepare per request. Cons: The "special rolls" are extremely filling. Lots of extra stuff that fills you up! The wait time between order is long. This means that you eat slower since you have to wait between servings. They put a limit on what you can order to limit waste, but this also limits how much food you can have. Also, they were in such a hurry to open that not everything was available that was on their menu. In addition, everything was slightly bland. The tempura shrimp was bland, the special rolls were bland. Tips: Skip the fried and special rolls (unless you're really into that kind of thing!) and go for the simpler rolls and sashimi!!

Really good fresh fish and meat. Big portions.. Or bigger than average AYCE sushi . Really friendly staff and good amount of choices small enough so that you don't get dissatisfied from yourself not being sure that maybe you shouldn't have chosen a certain one. Their prices are very good. The only thing they should do is use a different soy sauce it's really strong the current one

My favorite Sushi and chill out spot. If you like to make your time worth it I recommend order more Appetizers then sushi. Tuna tartar, spicy tuna, beef tataki and much more. I've been there since the opening. Some of the waiter that was there before was very nice but ever since they changed waiter and waitress, atmosphere seems different.

Maki Maki is an all you can eat, made to order sushi restaurant. The price for dinner per person on the weekend is $26. I get very worried about all you can eat sushi places, but was willing to give it a try considering it's made to order. The quality of the sushi/maki was average, and the sashimi (salmon and unagi) was good. Some of the appetizers were good (seaweed salad, shumai) whereas others weren't (beef short ribs). They had $5 drinks (mai tai, lychee-tini and scorpion bowls). The drinks didn't have a lot of alcohol in them, but guess that is expected with that price. The service was ok. I guess I'm a sushi snob because I'd rather spend money on less sushi but amazing quality than have endless amounts of options that are on par with take-out sushi. The place is very casual and it was an ok dinner, but it wouldn't even crack my top 10 of sushi places (if I had a top 10).

I just had lunch there on opening weekend this saturday and it was horrendous. The sushi are made to order and limited o.o. Orders came out small and took too long for each plate to come out. The buffet meal took 1 and 1/2 hours and we were the only table!!!!!!!! The fish was not fresh at all. Even the salmon (one of the cheapest fish sushi restaurant can buy wholesale) tasted old like it was left in the sun to bake. The white tune was dry and not creamy at all )=/. I also tried everything on the sashimi menu and only the albacore and red snapper tasted ok. The yaki soba tasted like lo mein at any given chinese restaurant(bad ones). I don't know why "June O." liked the place so much but maybe for opening day everything was actually fresh. At least i didn't pay as much as i would have for dinner.

First time trying any "all you can eat sushi". The place was deserted when we got in, and we went on a Saturday. My butt didn't even get to sit down and the waiter told us they'll charge us $1 per every piece that was not eaten. You can tell me whatever you want, just let me sit down first. I thought that was real rude. I'm only rating this because the green tea ice cream they had that day was bitter!!!! Real insult to my love for GREENTEA ice cream. 2 stars because the hand rolls were pretty decent.

Good sushi place out in the burbs. Not the best, but for the location and price it's good. The combination rolls along with the sushi and sashimi are of good quality.

Great place. Unlike Minado all you can eat buffet in Framingham you don't have to wait in line. The waiter takes your order at the table. Try their Sake Bomb. The waiter carefully places chopsticks on top of the glass with beer, lowers small glass with sake. He than hits the table, and the cup with sake falls inside the beer, adding warms and alcohol to your drink. D Thai jalapeño made with red snapper if you like it on a wilder side of your taste buds. (It left me slightly but pleasantly confused), their sashimi, Dynamite tempura, and Boston Bruins Maki with crab. Short rib beef was not exciting I really expected something plump and juicy. Try banana tempura, little masterpiece. Service was pleasant. You have to wait for 10 min or less for each order but you can also order ahead.

The sushi are really good. The other dishes are cheapest quality food I ever eaten. Not good at all. The soups are not bad and thr service is still ok nothing to rave about. The check issue hasnt happened since.

We have been looking for a good sushi place for some time and finally found one...the sushi is really good here. We will definitely be going back!

Good service and decent food. This is probably one of the better sushi only buffets that I have been to. The sushi is made to order and the sashimi pieces are decently sized and fresh. They have really good special rolls that are included in the buffet price. In addition to the sushi, they have appetizers and cooked food such as pad Thai and noodles. I have not tried their entree so I can't say too much about that but I would definitely recommend the sushi here.

I've been to this place a couple of times, and both times have been great. Depending on the night, you pay $22 - $27 for buffet, or you can pay only for what you order. You decide. The buffet doesn't include drinks, obviously. Anyhow, if you're like me and are obsessed over sushi and Asian food overall, you're better off getting the buffet as you can order sushi, regular and special rolls, soups, appetizers, etc.. Just an advise - If you order off the buffet, make sure you eat it all. They will charge you extra for the left overs It's their way of controlling those whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs... I know some of you will find that unreasonable so I thought of giving you a fair warning. The wait staff is very friendly and the music and atmosphere is decent. Also - (In case they haven't fixed this yet) if you sit by the window and there's still sun out. Think twice, there aren't blinds or shade to block the sun so those who sit facing the window will have a sunny and bright background and may have some sun-warmed sushi :-)

I love this buffet restaurant. The price is pretty descend compares to other sushi buffet places. The sushi here are so good and fresh. The services is good but the foods came out too slow even the restaurant is not that crowded on a weekday night.

Great sushi! Fresh and made to order. The price is very affordable and you can eat as much as you like. My husband and I went there for our anniversary. It was worth every dollar paid.

This is Not what I expected...it is NOT a buffet, however it is all you can eat*. You sit down and waiter hands you a menu, you simply just order off the menu and they make it to order. You eat and reorder, eat, reorder...you get the idea. You get full really fast because you get the whole roll (if that's what you order). The quality is very good, much better than buffet. Each plate comes garnished, made to order, very fresh. I had some yellow tail that was the perfect temp...it was very good. Everything was very good; Avocado salad (just ok), a few rolls, tuna tartar, some peppered beef, lots of sashimi. All was very good with the highlight being the short ribs, these were excellent! Service was good. It took some time to figure out how it works and does take time as you are always ordering and figuring out what you want next. It would probably be a better experience if you are with someone. I was alone, traveling for work (not some creepy loser). It would have been nice to order a few things and shared. *all you can eat - if you don't eat it you are charged...so beware...order carefully. you can't just "try" something...clean your plate! Sounds weird but it was fine. I would go again but would not go alone as mentioned earlier. It is behind a strip mall in some industrial building, nice inside. Bottom line - a different experience than the usual all you can eat - worth $24.00

This place started strong but has gotten rather greedy as of late. We used to go here once a month or so. At the time the sushi buffet menu was extensive and the food delicious. In more recent months they cut the buffet menu, raised prices, and the accompanying food has gone down hill, slightly. In general, it no longer feels like a great deal and with all the other fantastic dinning options in the area we find ourselves much less likely to choose Maki Maki. I'm hopeful though that they will change direction as we really enjoyed having such an awesome restaurant in town.

First time ever in a sushi restaurant and was a bit overwhelmed but our server Kenji was fabulous! He was so knowledgeable and patient. The service was excellent and the food was the best. Everything was hot when it should have been and the sushi was incredibly prepared, presented and very fresh! Can hardly wait to go back!

Wow, what a change! This place took over the former Far East Café restaurant space. It's now beautiful, sleek, and modern. And the food was quite a bit better than I expected for an all-you-can-eat place. When I sat down for lunch, there was a slip of paper offering a myriad of appetizers and sides to be prepared fresh in the kitchen and brought out. I selected miso soup and shrimp tempura (also available were a variety of noodles and fried rice dishes). Once that order's in, the walk-up buffet offers tuna and salmon nigiri, plus a variety of rolls, like unagi/avocado, spicy tuna, California, and a handful of others. A few salads round out the selection. Not surprisingly, the sushi overall was somewhat on the carby and filler-heavy side. With respect to texture, the tuna wasn't quite as delectable as what you'd find in a higher-end restaurant--there was a bit of "gristle" (I don't know what you'd call it in fish). But overall, it was reasonably fresh and quite decent. There weren't any off smells or tastes that sometimes mar a lower-end sushi experience. Overall, a pleasant lunch that I'll look forward to repeating for however long they can keep the quality up.

Second visit in a months time and I am sure it will not be our last. First visit we fell in love but we were kind of put off by the lack of people at lunch time on a Saturday and so my curiosity got the best of me and I yelped it. Lots of mixed revues - so we gave it the second try, I am so happy we did. Second visit and the place was pleasantly full - the sushi was OMG good and of course plentiful too say the least. You have to order what you want - but they just keep it coming as long as you order. Quality - A, Taste - A, variety for lunch (at an AMAZING price)AAA and I would have to say the service is an A as well. Guess who is going back?

I am honestly really puzzled by the rave reviews of this place. The decor of the place is sleek and modern. 90's-esque music played in the background. The service is pretty prompt and it is nice that the sushi is made to order(as opposed to it sitting on the table for who knows how long). At first, my husband and I were a little impressed and even excited that we found an all you can eat place close by. We were even thinking of making plans to come here again. Alas, we spoke too quickly. We got a little bit of every part of the menu. Each order just got progressively worse. On our second order of peppered salmon, the cuts of salmon seemed to be falling apart. We were puzzled because we had enjoyed the first order of it. We had beef teriyaki, which tasted gross. It looked like they did not wait to have the grill heat up, resulting in a gray-ish brown piece of meat covered in brown sauce. Yuck. The rice on the sushi tasted like it had too much vinegar in it which was off putting. The fried food(seriously, how do you mess up fried food?), was super oily and heavy. The menu stated it had 'fresh pineapple' for dessert... yeah, fresh from the CAN. It is clear that this place does not care about the quality of the food. There is no finesse in the taste of the food. Honestly, with all you can eat sushi- fine, you don't have to be stupendous, but at least be yummy. Pros: Close by, the fish didn't taste frozen(although some tasted a little 'too cold'), decent service(constantly refilled our waters), made to order sushi. Portions are small so you can get a taste of everything. Tips: They say they charge for uneaten food. When driving it was hard to spot, so look out for the Staples in the same plaza.

This is my second time back at the restaurant. I have to say this time around - it's a drastic improvement from the last. Totally impressed by the efficiency and service. Dinner reservations for 8 on Saturday evening @ 7:30pm. The host greeted and acknowledged our reservation and informed us there will be a slight wait because the table for our party is wrapping up. She asked if we wanted to put in our order while we wait - they reset the table (wow-sers). Our waiter was on top of his game - taking our drink orders and checking periodically to see if we need to order more sushi. All the sushi were delivered spaced out so we weren't overloaded all at once. Rating upgraded from 3 to 4 stars.

Being stranded for car repairs I decided to check this place out. I love sushi and always am willing to try a new "all you can eat" place. For $14, their all you can eat lunch sushi/maki offerings are modest but still decent. The rolls weren't fancy but hit the spot. I was kind of surprised that they didn't have salmon avo or tuna avo rolls. When I asked if I could have a spicy salmon with avocado it came as the roll with avo on the side. Also, their spicy salmon rolls were the "mixed" type that spicy tuna rolls have unfortunately widely fallen victim to. All in all decent place and great value, if I worked near by I would probably be there far more than I should.

I find many of the reviews create confusion. They refer to a buffet. There is no buffet other than some appetizer salads (seaweed) and fruits. The restaurant has a regular menu or an All You Can Eat option. Seems to me the only reason to go here is the AYCE option. There are better straight up sushi places. There are few AYCE sushi places in the Boston area. This one is a great option for that. I dislike Minado in Framingham which is a buffett. Its a mad free for all where you always feel rushed, you have to run up when they put out the premium stuff or someone else will grab all of it at times. Maki Maki is not like that. You order from an AYCE menu that has cooked food (tempura's, varied appetizers, etc, and sushi & sashimi with a broad selection of specialty rolls plus the normal ones). Its not that common for an AYCE place to offer sashimi - most want you to fill up on the rice. If you order mostly big rolls with lots of rice - thats your own fault. you can also order oysters for an additional $0.50 per oyster The sushi & sashimi pieces are smaller than you get in most japanese restaurants. It threw us for a loop the first time, but once you know, you just know to order more. We usually order appetizers (gyoza or shumei, or tuna tartar, steak tataki, etc) while we figure out what sushi we want. Order the sushi as soon as you can and it comes sometime after you finished the apps. It does take a little while but this is par for the course at any busy sushi place let alone an AYCE place. At this point we know what we can eat and order almost all we want in the first pass, then add a few salmon/eel or something to top off while we ponder dessert. The tempura oreo's are amazing - though obviously not authentic japanese. also choice of ice cream like green tea, ginger, and the standards van/choc. The place is a deal at $26 on the weekends and less during the week. If you are looking for high end or finessed sushi - this is not the place. But the sushi is pretty good , with many options and certainly alot, and with variation of cooked food too, for a great price. But its not just volume, the sushi is pretty good and the cooked food is tasty. It all satisfies and If you leave hungry - its your own fault. We have been several times and will go back.

It's a new all-you-can-eat Japanese seafood restaurant. You can also order by dishes from a separate menu. I was very impressed with the all-you-can-eat menu selection. I had seafood udon, 5 maki roles, various pieces of sashimi, seaweed salad, lots of kim-chi (i know it's korean) and some damn good mixed drinks! The place looks nice inside with modern décor and flares of Japanese styling. Warm atmosphere with Mariah Carey Pandora in the background, apparently they switched that night from John Legend radio, either way I was lovin the music. The service was very nice, always attentive and served with a smile. I will definitely be returning!!

First time was a great sushi experience. The second time I came I gouged myself into a sushi coma. Gotta agree with the sentiments that the price and value is hard to believe for this all you can eat sushi buffet. I heard this place is a revamp of an old Chinese buffet and the work they put into making it more classy definitely shows with the comfy booth seats and beautiful decor that surrounds the center fully stocked bar and sushi station. There's even nice private group rooms set aside for parties and events. Also the background music is quite hip with R&B and pop so I found it easy to get caught up in the beat chowing down the food. I learned from Cindy the manager that they subscribe with Pandora to provide the upbeat music. What makes this buffet stand out is that everything is made to order so no worries about other people sticking their hands and face into food that might go for someone else. Of course on the downside I can see it taking a bit of time but they do have 4 dedicated sushi chefs furiously putting together orders. Of course the problem is you gotta be sure to not over indulge and try a little of everything. Rolls were very well made and not stuffed with rice as I would expect and sashimi was fresh. They seem to offer various specials such as the first time we came when they had fresh oysters available for 75 cents a piece though we didn't try any. I think the regular all you can eat menu is plentiful enough. The hot foods were okay in my opinion but definitely loved the Asian specials that comprised of seared sea bass, eel fried rice, and yakisoba. I recommend saving room for dessert and ordering the Oreo Delight! (fried tempura Oreos) Service is definitely top notch with our server Jackie who take our orders quickly and brought them over quickly. Definitely no complaints here and I look forward to more visits here over Minado. They may not have the over the top variety, but they make up for it in convenience and atmosphere.

This is the third time I visited this place and the food had gone down hill. 1st time was a year ago and 2nd time was 5 months ago and they were both great.. I recently came back with my family and is I really felt shameful bringing them here...no meat, fake meat, noodle and rice are plenty as stomach fillers, the food also taste like sushi from supermarket freezer ( Market Basket). The rolls are huge but packed with rice and vegi instead of meat. Sashimi was falling apart when I picked them up. Seaweed was plenty to eat... This time, they invented a new tactic to make you wait 30-40mins in between the time they bring out the food. The long wait really kills your hunger. I ate 10 pieces of raw fishes and was done. Anyway, the restaurant was 90% empty (Sunday 4pm) when I went in so no excuse on being overloaded with orders.. a great way to make the customers walk away. Not worth the big bucks anymore. This place has gone too greedy. Dont believe me? Give them a try. No more Maki for me and the search on Yelp goes on for a better sushi place.

This is my new favorite spot the food quality is out of this world and the fact that it only has 3 stars is cray cray! All you can eat ! I have never had such flavorful food anywhere in my life. I have been to a lot of Japanese places and countless Chinese food! The staff is great too and on top of it. I am never going anywhere else!!

The first time I tried this place about 4 months ago, it was a decent place for lunch. Went there last week, and how it has changed. I am afraid this is another one of those good AYCE sushi place that goes downhil, keep changing "management" (i inquired about it with my waitress and she said the ownership is the same, but management was changed.) Obviously, it did not change for the better. My waitress was helpful and pleasant, she didn't bombard me with the don't waste your food line. But she had trouble handling 6 tables. Let's get to the food. Starters, the fried chicken wing was okay, nothing special. The shrimp tempura tasted like it was fried in days old oil. The udon noodles with beef has about 3 pieces of small beef in it. That was the end of my cooked items. Afraid to be disappointed by any other cooked items. The sushi - I reason I came here. They got smaller, not the rice, but the fish. It's about half the size that I remembered from previous visits. The salmon is not as fresh as previously experienced. The tuna was okay. Eel avocado handrolls was heavy on the sauce, but little on the eel. Spicy tuna was okay, but again, it didn't taste fresh. On the rainbow roll, I didn't think you are supposed to see the rice when looking from above. The fish on top were small and could barely cover the top of the roll. I hate to give up on what I thought was a little gem hidden in the back of Cummings Park, but I am afraid to be disappointed again if I go back. Sad to say, this place has gone from a 3 1/2 - 4 stars from me to a 2 stars after this most recent visit. Also, a guy in a green t-shirt was clearing tables and doing all sorts work, but he was not in uniforms like the rest of the staff and he didn't look very presentable. Thought that was odd to see. He must be one of the new "manager", but he definitely didn't dress the part. It's time to look for a new AYCE sushi place. :(

4th time here. Each time progressively worse than the last. A couple things missing from menu from last time. Now they charge $1 per piece of uneaten food instead of a quarter. Salmon and tuna in maki was mushy like a paste. Salmon sashimi was better but still falling apart. How can you eat your fill if the first salmon and tuna is like that? Tempura shrimp was good. Edammame was good. I tried the hibachi fried rice (got it before and it was nicely browned with crispy crunchy edges) This time it was like steamed brown rice with beef thrown on top. It was not even mixed in the rice. Fried banana dessert was HORRIBLE, due to the fact that they are not heating the oil up enough before frying things, which results in oil laden food with oil flavor. Also the price went up 2 bucks since our first visit about 6 months ago. Sadly, it looks like the writing is on the wall.... will not repeat as the delta between our first time and last is too huge, and we felt that when your paying 85 for dinner and the salmon and tuna are old, its not worth it. BTW this was a Friday evening.

While the lunch menu is not bad, they have a much bigger menu for dinner. Also, I believe that they always have a special on mai-tais, $5 for a VERY strong one! The quality of the rice varies, but the last few times I've been it has been good to very good. The fish is always good to excellent. We've never had any real issues with the wait staff. One forgot to bring us an item we ordered once, but we had plenty of food and just ordered it again, no big deal. I really like their decor, although the floor seems extremely slippery when wet, but maybe it's partly those strong mai-tais! Inadvertently amusing point: a waiter in a sushi restaurant who doesn't know the word 'nigiri'. :)

I came here for a birthday dinner. For my Hawaii people, this is like Makino-chaya style ordering. You pay a set price and order as much of any dish as you would like. However, if you don't finish something, you are charged for it. Clean plate award is a must! So...I don't eat sushi, and maybe this place is fantastic if you do. I do, however, like other Japanese food, and this place is not too fantastic for that. Here's what I got: Age tofu - this is what it said on the menu, and I'd say it was accurate, as there was no dashi. This resulted in a rather bland dish. Shrimp Tempura - This is not true tempura but ebi fry. I have to say, my friend's daughter loved this, so that alone made me glad I ordered it. :D Seafood Yaki Udon - Not terrible, not fabulous. Shumai - My friend's daughter liked this, too! ;) Lobster Puff - Basically a crab rangoon. Okay, except I guess this supposedly had lobster in it. I did try a piece of the beef tataki as well, and it was okay. Several people ordered tuna sashimi, but it looked really dark, so I was hesitant to try it. Basically, most of the food I had tasted like the kind of stuff you can get from the Asian food offerings in the freezer section of your grocery store. The sushi rolls all had cutesy names (including many Boston-themed ones), so authenticity is unsurprisingly not the strong suit here. I mean it's hard not to chuckle at rolls with names like "Sexy Girl" and "Tuna Party." However, all of my friends enjoyed themselves, so I think a casual Japanese food fan might as well!

I went here for lunch. I have mixed feelings, I was expecting so-so sushi and thats what i got. For all you can for only 15$ its not a bad deal. But so-so sushi is still so-so sushi, i would prefer to pay more and get higher quality. i guess its an ok place to go for lunch once and a while, although i doubt i will ever come here again, but maybe i will cause its all you can eat for 15$.... you get what you pay for.

Easy to get to off of 93. Plenty of parking (it's in an office park). Staff were friendly, attentive and the food was good quality. For some reason, I tend to under-eat at buffets (only buffets) and it always just seems unnecessarily expensive - even though I end up paying the same amount at a regular restaurant. They have some silly rule about charging fools who order too much and then don't eat it. I'm not so gluttonous as to over order and be wasteful so I'm not too sure on how all that works. If I was in the mood for sushi, I'd certainly go back. It isn't that far from Boston - about 15-20 minutes north. Give it a try an tell me what you think. SUSHI!

  • David S.

Not the best sushi I've had, but at 13.99 for lunch; this place is a fantastic deal! The sushi and maki offerings are limited at lunch, but overall this place is an excellent value. A little heavy on the spicy mayo, but I'm not really a fan of the mayo anyway so it probably stuck out more for me that it will others. I will be coming back here.

My how things change... This is my third visit back. 2nd visit, back in the summer, was still as good as the first. I'm not sure what happened or why but the quality of food has plummeted. Website tells me new management. They added some bar with kimchi, seaweed salad, and some seafood mix thing. I'm guessing it's for dine in w/o all-you-can-eat. I hope so at least... b/c in this case, adding the bar takes away from the dining experience - the kimchi was dry and...well, really bad. And the plates for it don't match the other plates you get with your food. It's some cheap plastic that really clashes. Rolls: Fine Sushi/Sashimi: All over the map. Red clam, squid, unagi were fine. White tuna I think was fine. Salmon - sushi should not smell like a fish market.... Tuna - did you use a bread knife on that? A la carte: I ordered what I always order. Shrimp tempura delicious as always. Pepper tuna (like a crudo) - way overdone on the sauce now. Steak tataki - now tough and flavorless - inedible. Salmon tartare - ...unfortunately I ordered that at the same time as the salmon sushi... same fishy smell.... udon noodle soup - extremely mediocre as always haha Oysters: Ha, they added 50 cent oysters w/ your buffet meal. Like I trusted them to have edible oysters if the sushi ain't even decent.... The kicker: c'mon man, the ice cream too?!??! Green tea ice cream was okay, but not as good as before. Red bean, ginger - seriously, you're gonna cut corners on the ice cream that you give 1 tiny scoop per order for, and make sure that the last thing diners taste is the ice encrusted ice-cream the likes of that half-eaten butter-pecan I've had in my freezer for two months? The one bright spot, besides the shrimp tempura (and I do not come to a sushi buffet for shrimp tempura), was the service - impeccable as always. Note to ownership: Your predecessors had a good thing going. You weren't getting as many customers as you wanted - fine - but adding crap isn't a way to gain new ones - it's a way to lose old ones. (Classic case of less is more. For the rare case of more is more, see May Kelly's in North Conway, NH - most eclectic and wonderful Irish pub I've been to. )

Maki Maki is one of my favorite places to go for my sushi fix. Everything is made to order and they don't rush out your orders half assed. They actually spend time on the presentation! They have made a lot of positive changes since they first opened, so if you haven't been here recently, I definitely recommend it.

This place is worth the 23.99 you pay for dinner. Sashimi is solid and the rolls are flavorful. I suggest hand rolls because the rice is fairly minimal when I went. The cooked food is fairly decent, tried most of it. Service was solid all around. Our waters were always refilled without asking, and they always asked if we wanted to order more before we even finished with what we ordered. They don't harass you about not completely finishing your food. Great experience! For an AYCE its definitely worth going back to, especially if you're near the Boston area.

Came here for dinner with the fam last week. As a note, they've raised their dinner prices to $23.99 on a weeknight, I believe it was $21.99 before. The decor is quite lovely and the space clean and spacious. Definitely a good spot for large groups. Service was also decent, much better (more attentive) than other order as you go buffet places (I'm looking at you Yamato!). The food was just okay though, and the variety on the menu sadly slim. Other than sushi, there wasn't a lot of choice in terms of other foods. Also, they pulled the bait and switch on me for at least 2 of the items I ordered. The lobster puffs were in fact crab rangoons (I was also previously tricked at Yamato, where they called their crab rangoons "crispy crab" leading me to think it was deep fried softshell crab, but I digress...). For pete's sake, however, just call the damn things what they are, CRAB RANGOONS! Don't try to trick me. Also, I ordered the grilled sea bass and they brought me mackerel instead, hoping I wouldn't notice. I think they saw the funny look I made when I saw the mackerel though and they quickly said they didn't have bass that day so they gave me mackerel. Err.. ok, would have been nice they told me first as I didn't want to waste my yummy space for salty mackerel. But whatever, I ate it (as a note, it wasn't good--the mackerel was cold and salty). As another tip, beware of their special rolls, particularly the ones that sound like they might be expensive (i.e. contain lobster). We ordered the Bruins Roll and Patriots Roll (I think), both of which the descriptions said contained lobster, the lobster in the rolls was minuscule and the rolls were loaded with rice. To make things worse, they were wrapped in this terrible non-seaweed wrapper and were just difficult to swallow overall. I think this is a place that's good enough to try once so you can say you've tried it, but not so good or economical to be a standard go to spot. I'd be back for a bday or something, but otherwise I don't think I'd be back on my own initiative.

We had a large group (26) and they accomodated us in their function room. You do have to make reservations for large groups. It's not like a typical buffet w/ food stations. You order off the menu. We got a bunch of appetizers and entrees and then a few sushi boats. Service was pretty good, friendly. And the hostess was friendly and accomodating. Would return.

Went here today for dinner. We decided to try maki maki on a Tuesday night assuming they would not be busy but we were wrong. The menu had a good amount of variety, things from appetizers, to sushi, to noodle dishes and dessert. The sushi did take a bit of time to come out but no different from any other restaurant. I'm not too impatient when it comes to waiting for fresh sushi to be made. Overall I found it to be fairly decent sushi. Nothing tasted old. Not the best of the best quality which is expected (it is a buffet). Our waiter was nice and attentive. Overall our visit was pleasant. The only thing I really got out of it was... If you don't plan on eating a ridiculous amount of sushi, chances are you'd be spending about the same amount of money going to a non-buffet restaurant. We spent $71 for 3 people (dinner buffet, before tip). My typical sushi meals are about that price. I didn't hate this place but may not being going back.

I went here with a group for a B-Day party. The food was fresh made and was good. Why 3 stars though? The price. The service. The ice cream. My wife and I are not sushi people but there is enough on the menu to choose from. The $23 for the buffet was a bit much. It's a non-traditional buffet. You order from a menu and they bring it out to you. The service was slow which makes sense....you feel full while waiting and you order and eat less from the "buffet". Profit margin increases for them. The ice cream was frozen. Meaning there were ice chips in it. The people I was with liked the sushi so I would say go there if you like sushi. If you don't mind spending a lot of money for their style of a buffet, then go here. My opinion is simple. It's good, but not worth the price....by far. I know of several Asian restaurants that are just as good and more reasonably priced.

We went there for dinner on a Friday night, if you have a party of 6 or more, I highly recommend reservation in advance. This place is not as big as the maki maki in Brighton and instead of a buffet, it is a AYCE like Yamato and Sakura which you pick your selection on a sheet of paper and the chef make it order. They have lots of sashimi and nigiri choices like octopus, squid & yellowtail which is not often seen on other menus. My suggestion is order a lot on your first round because you don't know how long you will need to wait when you get your 2nd round. In addition to the sushi, I recommend their tofu tempera or tofu teriyaki because it is not those firm tofu that we often see but instead it is the silken tofu which makes it soft on the insides and crispy on the outside...i'll pass on the shrimp tempura and salmon teriyaki because the shrimp is small on the shrimp tempura and the salmon teriyaki is thinly sliced and overcooked...I will give them an extra star if they serve salmon head or salmon belly teriyaki... The reason that I didn't give this review a 5 star is because I also went there for lunch. Don't expect too much for 12.99... Limited selection of sushi, only tuna & salmon nigiri. Lots of rolls to choose from but not AYCE style, everything is placed out at the sushi bar counter...you only pick the kitchen food on a sheet of paper... Overall, I would go to their dinner until we get blacklisted from them for our big appetite...

All you can eat Sushi AND Asian lunch for 13.99$. I love it. The sushi was super good. Mango Avocado was the best for me. Sweet Potato was super good as well. Service, Food, Presentation, Experience, Decor everything was nice and good. It is hard to find such places in the suburb. I am really happy that I tried this place out with a friend. Both of us walked out happy.

This place has become a regular lunch spot for me. Don't expect the best Japanese food you've ever had, but for the money this all-you-can-eat spot is a great deal. The sushi menu is pretty limited - especially the nigiri - but the fish is fresh and it's prepared to order. (The sushi rice could use some work, though.) Generally good service.

Wow. I agree with what another reviewer said on here....each time you come here it gets progressively worse. This place has TANKED.

Non-buffet all you can eat japanese sushi and cooked food. I went on a busy friday and I left in a food coma. Other than some mango avacado maki rolls, I stuck to cooked food and believe me the food stuck to me. Hah! First off, everything I got was fried. As a result I think I would hit this place at most twice a year. Nutrition aside though, lets talk about what I had. Pretty much everything I ordered was great - gyoza, veg tempura, tofu teriyaki, general tso chicken (LOL!). My companion got house salad, vegetable udon soup and a bunch of sushi. Everything was average-to-good in quality. The house salad was a typical ginger dressing. Also we got chicken wings which were just generic and forgettable. You do have the option of going with the non-AYCE menu. You have to ask for it though. Also keep in mind that when you go with the all you can eat option, each item ordered is either two or three pieces or perhaps a tapas sized portion. Of course you can just keep ordering. Service was attentive and ever-present. Ordered items came out pretty quickly. Nothing was sitting around though...everything came out freshly prepared.

Skip lunch because of the limited selection, go for dinner, and get lots of pepper tuna (YUM), any sashimi, and a few special rolls and leave happy. The special rolls are filling, so for the best bang for the buck sashimi is the way to go. Quality is much better than what you are paying for, it's a great deal to come during the week. They do take out and ala carte pricing on that, but why bother?

I've been there over 5 times for both lunch and dinner for their buffet. I have to admit this is the best sushi buffet i've ever been to. The server was very nice and food came pretty fast. (Saturday night dinner could be a little slower since the place was pretty packed, but the server is still very polite and keep us in the loope on when the food is coming out.) All the fast was fresh and it's worth the price paid for! They are not stingy on the portion even though is buffet! Good expereince overall!

I don't know if I'm missing something here, but I came here for lunch and found the food to be almost inedible. Maybe the other people reviewing here don't understand good sushi but the quality of the fish here is crap. The chicken fried rice we ordered was the worst rice I've ever had... How do you even mess up rice?? The only thing that tasted OK were the chicken wings and the General Tso's, but even those were subpar. I actually left an all you can eat place hungry! I would never recommend this place to anyone and don't see how on earth it gets 4 stars from the generally critical yelp crowd.

Because we preferred not to drive all the way to Brighton to the Maki Maki out there, we decided to go to this place since it is closer to Lowell. Both places are an all you can eat Japanese/ sushi place. The difference between them is the one in Brighton is buffet style where you go up to get your food as often as you like and whatever portion you prefer. This place, the food is made to order. I actually like the one in Brighton better and I will tell you why. Although only $5 more per person, they actually have more food selection. This place here charges extra for certain things like oysters and certain desserts in addition to the flat rate they charge. Certain food you order by pieces but others are whatever portion they serve and you need to finish that because they will charge you extra for wasting food. Or they want you to finish up as much as possible before you place additional orders. Felt as if we were being constantly watched to make sure we finished our food! The other place is not like this because you get whatever portion of anything you want. Because of that, you're able to try almost everything. Totally not like that here. You get full first since you have to finish whatever you initially ordered. This place is definitely good for a big group so that everyone can help each other finish the food in order to try multiple dishes. They do serve drinks unlike the other place. However, although cheap mixed drinks (about $5/10), hardly any alcohol in them; tasted like juice! Probably why they're so cheap! We had the scorpion bowl, Mai tai, and lychee martini. Moving forward, I would choose the one in Brighton over this place! Nevertheless, ambiance was nice and our waiter was nice, friendly, and funny. It's located in a plaza so parking is easy.

Been here 3 times since it opened and will go back! All you can eat with a reasonable price. Sashimi quality was good all 3 times, only complain is tobiko did not come until asked twice, every single time! Is the cost of tobiko sashimi is extremely high so that the chef tried to see if we forgot our order or something? Wings was good, although my target was sushi and sashimi but I just couldn't resist ordering their wings each time.

The sashimi is really delicious and of good quality. I'm not into filler foods, especially at a buffet style place, but I have tried some of the soups and a few of the apps and they were all good. The atmosphere is awesome too! Great place for a group of people or just for a date. You almost don't realize that you are in the burbs when you walk in. Here's a tip though (if you eat a lot and can finish whatever is in front of you), order everything that you want and more in the first go around. The frequency at which the wait staff come diminishes quickly, so I was dumb the first time I went by just ordering what I could eat at the moment. After the second visit, you will rarely see the wait staff again and it no longer seems like a buffet. It's fun inside and the food is yummy though, so I'll be back.

We really liked the waiter then we liked the maki rolls a lot. Tuna and salmon were decent. But do not order oysters. They are frozen and you dont even know if they are from the sea or aquarium. My friend said go to the one in Allston. I am so drunk to write anything but i will definitely come back. My friend said he will come back only if im there.

Tricked- bad customer practice. Went there for the first time. Was told that you can order everything in the menu for $23 and the food will be prepared fresh. We were pleasantly surprised to hear this pricing scheme so ordered a few dishes that we like. Had to leave because of my toddler started to throw a fit and couldn't finish all the food. They wanted to charge us $1 per every piece that was not eaten. I told the server that info should have been given to us up front. She insisted that she did but I heard of no such info- unless I had a temporary memory lapse. They got another $6 out of me. Not going there again. That's promise. Beside- the food itself is 4/10 regarding quality.

All you can eat, great prices, and great food. That's a rare combination. The all you can eat menu is large and diverse. You can eat loads of great sushi, fried noodles, appetisers, all for one flat rate. The staff are really friendly and the food is ready so fast. It's impressive. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the yaki soba. The noodles were almost like spaghetti which is not how soba is done. Everything else was great though.

All you can eat sushi for $25 at dinner!!! Their variety of rolls are very creative and the ones I tried were delicious. My favorite thing was the sashimi! The salmon and tuna sashimi were so fresh and I just couldn't believe that they were part of the all you can eat menu!

I visited this place for dinner last night. This is the type of sushi buffet where you pick from the menu and tell the waiter how many orders of each one would like. There was a decent selection of items and we've tried probably around half of them, leaving most of the rolls untried. I liked the raw salmon sashimi, the mango roll, and the green tea ice cream. The hot green tea was $2 each though.

If you love sushi like I do than this is the place to go!!! I love that its an all you can eat!!! As long as you finish your food! If you don't finish your food they will charge you for that plate, but I think that's a great idea!! No wasting food!!! Food here always taste and look fresh!!! The customer service here is awesome!!! They are always so nice! My son is 2 and never sits still and yet they are so pleasant about it!! I just love this place! The place look great, clean, and updated!!!

I was really excited when I saw this place being set up, because Far East Cafe over stayed its welcome a bit. And nothing screams excitement like an all you can eat sushi experience. That's what I thought at least. Even though they offer appetizers, pad thai, general chicken and other dishes all included in the buffet price, nothing had flavor to it. Nothing but the sushi that is and it wasn't a good flavor, trust me. The Pad thai had no lime or peanut flavor to it, the appetizers were dried out and meh. I didn't try many of the other dishes because I wanted to focus on the sushi. I kind of wish I stuck to the other bland dishes because the sushi tasted bad. The salmon salad tasted funky, like the mayo went bad or something. I know it's harsh to judge a place based off of one bad thing, but if you've had bad sushi, you know as well as I do that it basically ruins everything. Not only that, but I had to force myself to eat the spoiled sushi, or else I would have been charged for wasting the food. It's like in Anchorman where Will Ferrell had to eat the cat poop. Just a rough situation to be in. The interior and set up looked great, I just wish the food was able to back up the excitement of the decor.

I have been here about 4 times and it has become one of my new favorite places to get lunch on the east coast. this is the best sushi buffet i have ever been too and the quality is quite good for a buffet. the waiters/waitresses are very nice! (we did have an unusual encounter with the front hostess on one occasion). the shrimp sushi is delicious! our favorites are the rainbow roll, sexy girl, and shrimp tempura rolls. we also love their teriyaki shrimp and teriyaki salmon. the only thing i didn't like was their tuna nigiri (it has a weird cut so the texture is not very appetizing). overall this place is awesome!

The wife and I strolled over to Maki Maki and had a great time. The food was fresh and deliscious. We have a couple of cocktails and spent around $70. We were there early evening on a friday and it quickly filled up. We ate from the all you could eat menu and found plenty to satisfy us.

HORRIBLE! They are short staff and it takes forever for us to get what we ordered. I gave 3 chances to this place and with all of them my experience was very unpleasant.

I liked this place. The buffet met my expectations - not spectacular but certainly worth the money. They had oysters, a very wide variety of sushi, lobster, and an awesome pile of shrimp. It was crowded on a Sunday night but still not overly mobbed like Minado. The décor was a bit stark but I wasn't really there for ambience. The server was incredibly attentive in clearing dishes (of which there were many). I'll definitely be back.

I had a most wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the sushi was wonderful and the staff was most friendly and helpful... I especially liked the peppered tuna that was suggested to me my the manager, Cindy, who guided me through their menu. I found everything I had, fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back as the value was amazing! BTW, ask Cindy to make you her famous Mai Tai, it is the best I have ever had!

This was our first and LAST visit to Maki Maki... Food is expensive, but I figured, if its good, its worth it. I was happy to hear that the kids buffet is half price (thank goodness). First, we were seated in the shadeless room at sunset and we asked to move -- no problem. We ordered a whole bunch of stuff -- 2 rolls, 2 pc. of salmon sashimi, 3 miso soups, 6 pcs. shrimp tempura, 2 edamame, a mai tai and 5 waters for everyone. We didn't get our drinks until about 30 minutes later, and never got our soups. The coconut shrimp tempura was cold, but my kids ate it regardless. My sashimi was terrific and the Bruins and Woburn rolls my hubby got were great as well. When the waiter finally came back to check on us quite a while later, we were all finished and still waiting for our soups. We ordered more food (I ordered 6 more pieces of sashimi and a Philly roll without sesame seeds due to an allergy), and one more mai tai. Our water glasses were NOT refilled. Soup finally came and it was lukewarm. Another half hour later, my sashimi came and now it was 3 of the same size as the one I ordered before, but all cut in 2, equaling 6 pieces. Oooookay. My Philly roll came smothered in sesame seeds. I had to send it back of course and my daughter never got the roll what she had ordered. Our glasses were finally refilled... with WARM iceless water. I noticed the table behind us having similar problems repeatedly (not getting what they'd ordered, and the one to my right also sent back their shrimp tempura for being cold. Did I mentioned that my husband's mai tai never arrived either? So, we've now been at this place for THREE hours, haven't gotten half of what we ordered and the 5 of us are all so ready to go. The waiter comes back and we tell him we're all set and want the check. "No dessert?" No, we're all set. He then decided to re-ask my children if they wanted ice cream. He smiled at me and said "its okay, really" -- not in a way to intentionally go over my head, but in a way that was meant to say "its no problem." Regardless, it was inappropriate. I told him no again, saying we needed to leave. Our waiter left then to get our check and returned a couple of minutes later with the check... charging us for the mai tai we never got. We asked the waiter to correct the bill and when he came back, he also brought my now corrected Philly roll. I kind of snorted and said I wasn't eating it now. We paid (too much) and left. Overall, I wouldn't say that the food was a total disappointment. What we got was okay to terrific, depending on the item. The service however DESTROYED this restaurant for us. We will not be back.

this place sux. you can nvr get your money worth. because they only give you rice and veg. you'll have to use a microscope to see the fish. the service is very slow. the rice is too sour , prbly b/c of too much vinegar. the sushi qualities are just bad. they totally fall apart when I tried to lift them up with my chopsticks. take your $30 somewhere else.
