This place was decent. I think it is better for ice cream and standard fried seafood. I got the broiled scallops dinner and it was only ok...it was swimming in some sauce and my fries were not crispy which was a letdown. My husband enjoyed his fried clam dinner which is to be expected...can't really mess up fried clams. My ice cream cone was the big winner for me...It was a purple cow cone and it was delicious. I would come back but order a safer option of fried seafood. PS..they have Del's frozen lemonade. Another winner for me!

This rating is only for their lobster roll. The rolls were $16 each and worth every penny. About half an hour south leaving Provincetown Massachusetts I saw PJ's on the east side of the road. We only had a light breakfast and had a long way to go so we decided to pull in to what looked like a hot dog or burger stand. Upon further inspection we saw they were serving seafood and of course the lobster rolls we ordered. At this point I saw a sign from a TV food star saying this was his favorite place for lobster rolls and it hit me that I had seen this place on TV. OK now my taste buds were waiting in anticipation and my mouth started to water. Would this be a great lobster roll or would the hype be too much and the roll leave me wanting. After taking the first bite I knew this was the real deal. First you get the taste of the buttered toasted roll. I was worried this would overpower the lobster but it didn't. As I continued to chew the flavor of the roll became secondary and the delicate flavor of the lobster became the star of the show. If you want a terrific lobster roll look no further than PJs. I'd recommend them whole heartedly. It's a drive heading out on the cape but it's a beautiful ride and the treasure awaits you at the end.

We stopped by on our way to Provincetown for a late dinner and was a little confused. You can order outside (next to the ice cream stand) or you can order inside (with the entry door on the right of the building). We ended up ordering outside (since we didn't know of the indoor seating till later) and sat outside to eat. The lobster roll was delicious, but heavy on the mayonnaise that you almost can not taste the sweetness of the lobster, but you can still taste the lobster. It wasn't the amount of mayo in the roll, it was the creaminess of the mayo. The roll was delicious, and not too buttery. We also ordered a cajun grilled salmon sandwich with fries and a cup of clam chowder. I liked the fries! the salmon was on the dry side, but not bad still. I really liked the chowder, it was brothy-er than a thick chowder for sure, but that help bring out the seafood taste I feel, and it was loaded with clams and potato. All in all I thought the meal was delicious but overall a little disappointed, but that was because I was expecting sooo much!! =P and I'm learning what kind of lobster roll I like ;)

I was so disappointed with my last visit to PJ's. Known for their out of this world Lobster Roll and such, the food was still pretty good - although my fried shrimp platter wasn't anything special, and the chowder really had NO seasoning - like...NONE. My gripe was the counter service. the woman who helped us seemed so disinterested in anything I had to say, and was actually kind of flip when I asked her a question. It just wasn't a great experience across the board. Cramped inside to fit more people in, my party of 7 couldn't fit at our table for 8, we needed to split up, because it was just to compact in there. Do better PJ's - I know you can!

Awesome food!! The lobster roll is award winning, the mussels with wine and garlic are amazing and the corn is perfect. They ice cream is unique and it is the best way to close a meal here. We had the toasted coconut and strawberry, both really good.

Lobster roll was buttery, tasty, dripping, messy, and lovey! It made my day! Plus ice cream for dessert!

If I could rate them just for the lobster rolls I would give them 5 stars because this is beyond a doubt the best lobster roll I have ever had. I ordered mine without mayo and they accommodated my request without difficulty. My dh got his with the standard mayo dressing and enjoyed his too. The lobster meat was sweet and fresh - high quality. I got French fries with mine, which were also great. My only complaint was that my order wasn't filled correctly and I had to go back up to the counter and deal with a minor hassle to get the fries I had ordered and paid for. So, make sure that everything you ordered is on your tray before you leave the counter. My dh got the baked potato instead of fries and said it was just ok, he would get the fries next time. Not the place to go if you are looking for ambience - this is just a no frills family restaurant with great lobster rolls at a good price.

I enjoyed my dinner here. Though my fried shrimp was a bit tasteless and not very crisp at all, things like their amazing French fries and creamy Mac&Cheese were delicious. Moreover, the staff was exceptional. My sister has a very severe gluten allergy, and when my mother asked them about their precautions against cross-contamination, they were extremely responsive and helpful. That brings me to another thing. They are extremely friendly to gluten allergies. They have separate friers, separate grills, separate everything just for people with gluten allergies. Their gluten free clam chowder was delicious, and they make everything to perfection. A great place to eat overall.

My wife had the first(!) ice-cream float of her life here this past weekend (she's not from the States). The root beer was bubbly, the ice cream crammed generously in! They even scooped more ice cream in after adding the soda! Who even does that anymore? Delicious. Afterward, we took a quiet walk through the small, ancient cemetery across the road, found headstones dating back to 1777. Lovely spot.

This review is just for the ice cream. Compared to the other shoppes on the Cape, PJ's was disappointing. Our group ordered a variety of items including soft serve, regular ice cream, milk shakes, etc but no one seemed wow'd. I personally had the coffee soft serve with sprinkles on a cone but I could barely taste the coffee flavor. They can also improve operations as service was a bit slow side.

Just to let you know this is my first time yelping... Couldn't help myself! I grew up going to PJ's for ice cream as kid. As an adult I had never eaten there, but heard great reviews of their seafood etc. My boys were hungry and its the last night of vacation so we head to Moby Dicks (My boys request 12 AND 14) Looked like an hour wait (should have waited)! Headed to PJ's calling in order that took 30 minutes to fill. My boys both had ice creams, before dinner (its vacation). Ice cream took 30 minutes as well (We were second in line...hummm). Got our food after speaking with several other unhappy customers. Got home...2 minutes away... WORST fried clams, calamari etc. that I have ever had. My recommendation...drive right by PJ's and head to Moby Dicks . Buy a bottle of wine and a few drinks for the kids. Go wait in line. It is worth the wait.

Do not order the "Jumbo" size lobster roll, the only thing jumbo about it is the $28 price tag. It's a regular size hotdog roll that is full of lobster but by no means is it $28 worth of lobster. The flavor is typical and the quality of meat is average. The steamers on the other hand are delicious and a good value.

We always stop at PJ's for fried clams and we were not disappointed. There were 7 in our party and we ordered the clam risotto special and it was tasty and buttery. It was a little salty and if your on a diet that not a dish to have. My mom ordered the sword fish sandwich and it was average. It was over cooked and dry. We had the chowder and plenty of clams in it. It not a thick chowder if that's what you like. We had 2 kids and both had the grill cheese and they ate it all.

So I don't have much experience when it come to eating lobster rolls. I only spent 3 days on The Cap but this place blow my mind when it comes to lobster rolls. I ordered the larger size roll. The lobster had large pieces and the bun was not too big so I didn't feel like all I ate was bread. I would say this was the best lobster roll I have ever had and would recommend this place to anyone looking for something delicious.

  • Serena G.

Fun! It's a relatively modest place that makes tasty, tasty food. The lobster roll was fine (though not the best ever by any means) and everything we had was good, including probably my favorite French fries on the Cape. But the real winner here for me was the fish tacos with fried cod. YUM. They were really good. I would not have minded going back another day to order them again. Our group also had a long, detailed order and a little trouble making up our mind -- the folks at the counter were super-patient and friendly. It was a fun, casual, and enjoyable experience. Now can I get another order of those fish tacos?

FOR LOBSTER ROLL ONLY. The lobster roll was yummy - a generous portion of succulent lobster on a lightly buttered split roll. My husband had the fried whole belly clams- he said they smelled bad.

  • Emma W.

My family visits Cape Cod every summer and tonight we ate at PJs. The food was very good! I ordered the fried shrimp plate. I wish the presentation could have been a little better, but I suppose the taste is what matters in the end. Additionally, I think the seafood rolls should come with potato chips or some sort of side, because the small sizes aren't really enough for a full meal.

  • Linda R.

We stopped here because it was one of Duff'S favorite foods on best thing i ever ate. The lobster roll was the purest most amazingly delicious lobster I've ever had. The clam strips were the perfect mix of crunchy outside with chewy inside. Will go again if we ever arw back on cape cod!

  • Arlyn G.

Anything out of their Fry-o-lator is amazing, especially the fried oysters and whole bellied clams. There is no better roadside food stop on the entire cape.

  • Dannie W.

I think the food is ordinary. I tried the crab cake and fried clams. The crab cake tastes good for the first one, then tastes ok for the second. The fried clam is ok too. I think it's a little over cooked. But I do see a lot of people waiting to buy their ice cream. Maybe that is what they are famous for?

  • Sijuba M.

One of the best lobster rolls I ever had. Loaded with lobster and not much mayo. Roll toasted perfectly. Friendly service. Clean outdoor picnic tables. I will return here again if I am within 50 miles and want some lunch.

  • Emily H.

Best lobster roll on the Cape! No frills, no atmosphere, just good sea food. We have sampled a large portion of the menu over the years, it's all good. Lobster roll stands out and is the best I have ever had.

  • Valerie K.

Standard greasy New England style take out, with friendly service and ok prices. It's very popular, but I just didn't find it at all that exceptional. My bf went back with some friends and said his veggie burger was better than the regular burger he had previously gotten, and the place seems to be what Jordan's Snack Bar in Ellsworth, ME is, sort of a local tradition of New England fare. The lobster rolls at PJ'S did look pretty good if you eat lobster.

  • Christina L.

I'm not sure what the big deal is about this place. Having had clam strips up and down the Cape I was expecting heaven after seeing the reviews. Nope, instead, the strips were just O.K. No extra flavor or crisp. Just comparable to the rest. Also, disappointing, I ordered a shrimp and fries platter. While the quantity was nice the shrimp were baby shrimp that could have been frozen right before frying. When I think of fried shrimp, I think butterflied shrimp, not cocktail shrimp. Finally, adding insult to injury we ordered the clam chowder which was a watery affair. This might be a cooking preference, not everyone believes in a thick, creamy, and chunky soup, but it did not hit the spot. Will keep driving next time.

  • Alex H.

Four stars because anywhere besides on the Cape, their lobster rolls would be considered great. But after trying all the local places on 6W, I would say theirs is a solid middle of the pack but not outstanding. Fried shrimp was our favorite and the old school ambience was fun. Good place to visit but if you want the best in the area, this is not it.

The most delicious lobster roll ever. And lemonade. Totally made my trip to Cape Cod worthwhile! Love the quick service. Love the ambience. Very family-friendly.

Great place for great food. I've eaten here plenty on my trips to Truro for summer vacation. I'll have the fried foods once or twice during the week I stay but mostly stick with the Broiled options of the fish and scallops. Much healthier and better tasting, and they do it damn well. The chowder and the bisque are nice compliments to the broiled dinners and the Black Raspberry soft serve for dessert --- OMG For the fried, I always go with the clams, whole belly ... I pay the price for the taste but back on the healthy track the next visit with no shame spoiling myself for it. As for it being ultra busy, well yeah, the place is real good, that's why. The secret is in the timing, go when it's just before (4ish) or after dinner (9ish) but not too late, the folks want to go home after a busy day of serving whiny people on vacation with brats. So your quality and service might dip a little or they may be out of what you want. They do the best they can and I make sure I go when they are doing that, not everyone is perfect but PJ's comes pretty damn close. PS - The burger and onion rings for lunch will set you up for a nice smiley nap in the shade on a hot day. And the Lobster Roll too (go large on that, not small).

  • Lauren M.

We stopped here on our way to provincetown and it was perfect! We got clam chowder, lobster bisque, fried clams and lobster rolls. The soup wasnt as thick and creamy as I would have liked but the lobster rolls were amazing! I was happy to get an authentic New England seafood fix!

  • Dan S.

Good fried clams and onion rings. Expensive but then this is cape cod in the summer. Been eating here for 40 years. The veggie burger was satisfactory for my vegetarian brother. The food is a lot less expensive than the famous, crowded, and overrated arnold's in eastham. I will be back to pj's next summer!

Absolutely great for a fast food beach restaurant. Fish is fresh and tasty, service is friendly.

I got the jumbo lobster roll and it was the best ive ever had! (And I've had plenty before) the place was really crowded but the wait wasn't too bad. The ice cream was very good too. Definitely will go back!

  • Melissa M.

Chocolate ice cream with marshmallow topping. My favorite dessert! Fish and Chips is hands down the best I've had around here. It was just perfect. We like to get the food to go and then bring it home to eat (we live about a minute away from PJs). This place gets packed but it really is worth the wait. See you next year!!

Stopped by for a quick lunch before hitting P-Town. This place is a fairly typical "crab shack" offering outside covered picnic table seating, on inside air conditioned seating. You order at the counter, take a seat, and wait for your number to be called. The seafood and corn chowder was excellent, creamy and full of chunks of seafood. The lobster roll was simple and delicious. Served on a buttered roll and with no fancy ingredients, proofs simple can be delicious. My friend had a cheeseburger special of the day (yes I know what you're thinking: a cheeseburger on Cape Cod?). It was a big juicy burger with BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, and fried onion rings on the top. I admit I had bite and it was great! Seemed to be something on the menu for everyone. Price -wise it seemed average for what you're going to find at any similar place along the Cape.

Unless you are starving, keep on driving. Clam chowder is embarrassingly thin and flavorless. Lobster roll needs seasoning and citrus.

What a delicious meal we had at PJ's tonight. I was looking for something casual but delicious for my family which includes a restless 2 year old and PJ's hit the spot. My husband had the lobster clambake, I had the fried clam platter and our daughter was thrilled with the kid's hot dog plate, with fries. Just the perfect seafood shack - great for families. It's BYOB and there's a liquor store just down the way on Route 6, if you want to pick up a bottle of wine!

Great food!!! Always great service too. I always get the Fisherman's/seafood platter, and my wife gets the lobster.

Best lobster roll ever! Well fleet oyster, perfect Cole slaw ect......there is nothing bad about this place! Come for lunch or dinner and bring the family. You even get ice cream for dessert! Counter service with seating indoor and out. It's the perfect Cape restaurant. Stuffy restaurant goers need not bother, this is a fun place to chow down!

  • Lyla D.

For such a greasy, expensive takeout place I'm very surprised how unbelievably rude the blonde-bobbed haircut'd lady was to my family and I - just because it was the first time we has visited and didn't immediately know what we wished to order. The food was not good enough to deal with that behavior from a grown woman pushing 60. What was the worst was that she yelled at our party of 3 in front if the whole restaurant to HURRY UP! When there were no other customers in line behind us.. Very odd. There are so many other great spots on the Cape in this area with fresher seafood - and less expensive as you will see if you read some of the other reviews, with better quality food and staff that won't make you feel as if you are unwanted. I apologized twice for having to ask two simple questions.. Never again. Unfortunately.. This place isn't worth it.

Lobster roll is definitely the way to go if you're a fan. I didn't know to ask for lettuce on my roll, so it came back plain. But my roll seemed less mayo-ey than the lobster roll from Mac's. You won't get fries with that, but I'd recommend a side of sweet potato fries. Or just save it for desert. If you're looking for the healthy alternative you can get most of the fish sandwiches grilled instead of fried. The hard Fro Yo was amazing. I'm salivating thinking about the cappuccino crunch in the baby cone. Or you can get a coffee/softserve shake. Welp, that's addicting. My friend's obsessed with the blackberry /coffee soft serve swirl. Apparently they go well together.

One of the best stops on Cape Cod. We have been on a New England tour all the way up to Halifax. This was the best lobster roll we have had yet. The clam chowder was good not the best. The Lobster bisque was amazing. The fish & chips were tender and flaky with a great crispy batter. If you are driving on 6 stop at PJs.

The type of upscale shack where one places an order at a register and then gets called to pick-up their tray of food. Didn't realize, until a friend told me, that there is an indoor seating area around the side. Very nice, clean, friendly-enough place. Lobster yummy, fried chicken chewy but the skin was tasty, burger palatable and fries good. Soft-serve frappe horrible, like strawberry milk. But the food was good. It is one of the only places in the area at this level of shack-food, so it gets a higher rating. If it were closer to Eastham, where there are more choices, it would get less stars. Glad it's there.

Four stars because, room for improvement and its not ALL that, I am sure you can find marginally better. But this is essentially your typical fried clam-shack... but done oh, so well. Back when I was a large guy, even I found the standard portions to be huge, whatever you order (I personally like scallops and clam strips), with the fries, drink, slaw, etc. All pretty standard faire and I can get exactly the same at a place in land-locked central CT. But they do it so much better. The oils are light, things are allowed to drain, and it's not soggy. Some time ago I came upon the 'lunch portion' calamari platter. This was a perfect portion size, I even shared it with my dog (a chihuahua, so no big loss there, my late lab would have wanted his own). As for the improvement, the window staff is seasonal and has varying levels of compentency, the frying process could go 30 seconds longer, and there should be more "lunch" or smaller portion options.

After a long day of beaching below the Beachcomber in July, I didn't want to leave Wellfleet without consuming at least a lobster roll. Coming in here, it was HOT. There was no AC and after a hot day at the beach...I can't say that was a welcome surprise. The way it works is you order up at the counter and get a #. I ordered a large lobster roll, which came to a little over $20. Eating the lobster roll, I was a bit underwhelmed. The bun was toasted, which was nice and there was a lot of lobster in there, but too much mayo. The lobster flavor was lost in all the mayo :(. Perhaps it was just that after waiting for a while inside a hot non-AC'd joint and paying over $20 for a roll..I expected something way better. Didn't feel like it was worth the stop. The slaw was delicious though!

We go here every summer and the food is GREAT!!! Seafood is really fresh and they have large portions. I usually get the seafood platter, broiled scallops; my wife gets the Lobster Roll and she LOVES them!!! I have had the buffalo wings before and they are pretty good. Finally for desert the soft serve ice cream with dip is fabulous!!! Huge cones! All in all, the place to go on the outer cape.

After making the drive from Hyannis to another Wellfleet Restaurant that was unfortunately closed, we found our way to PJ's based on how busy the restaurant was. If it's busy it must be good! The lady taking our order inside was very helpful with the menu and friendly. I ordered the Cajun shrimp tacos with a cup of lobster chowder. The meal came with 2 FILLED soft tacos that had great flavor. The lobster chowder had a few pieces of lobster in it, and also had great taste. If I wasn't so full I would've ended the night with ice cream. If you find yourself in Wellfleet I definitely recommend PJ's!

I am reviewing this place for their Lobster roll only. I'm a regular at the lower Cape and this place has one of the best lobster rolls you are going to get. You can get the regular size or the large one. But, what you'll get in either, is it jam-packed with fresh claw meat. It's on the right kind of grilled roll, with just the right amount of mayo. It doesn't try to be anything fancy - just a ton of lobster dwarfing the roll...just like it should be. I make it my mission every time we're at the Cape to try the local lobster rolls, and so far, this one is top on my list. Note: If you are going for ambience, it's basically on a busy road and looks like a diner with a window you can order from (or you can order indoors). There is nothing fancy, you can hear traffic, and it's not going to "wow" your date with romance...but if you are just strictly judging by the quality of that lobster roll, and you've got someone who truly appreciates that - you'll score major points.

One of the best informal places on the Cape!!!!! This place might look like your average clam shack. It's not. The fried fish tacos are the best around and the lobster roll is amazing! The service is good. The food takes a little while, but it's worth it. The ice cream is great, and they have both soft-serve and hard, but they need a better system for handling orders. This was the slowest ice cream line ever. Overall, really good! I would definitely recommend it.

This place is perfect for what it is: Good quality, fresh seafood and excellent ice cream. To do it properly, come here on a late summer afternoon on your way back from the beach. Bring your sweatshirts in case it gets chilly after sunset. Sit outside at one of the checkered tables. Order a jumbo lobster roll and split it with your favorite person. Splurge on ice cream, which you take back to the car with you. Drive away, your tan arm up on the window, your sandy feet up on the dash, your stomach full, and your soul happy.

I had a great lobster roll here on May 19, 2015 Then 2 days later I had the full bodied clam roll and it was terrible! The clams had no clam flavor and tasted like they had been fried in very old oil. CHANGE YOUR OIL.

I've been coming to PJ's since I was a teen and it is still a reliable place to get a casual, yummy meal. This is not fancy food, it's beach food done well. Our group had clam rolls, burgers, frappes, grilled swordfish sandwich, fried shrimp plate and a Greek salad. All of it was tasty, fresh and satisfying. Great after being at the beach!

We were waiting in the car with bated breath and empty stomachs at 10:50AM, waiting for PJ's to open. Inside, the staff shuffled back and forth with supplies and summer staffers were writing the specials on the white boards. Then...at 11AM, once the frying oil (no trans fat, btw) was up to heat, the doors opened! We ordered the famous lobster roll (the bigger one) with sweet potato fries, a 12 oz lobster bisque, and the seafood platter with onion rings. For $70 we fed four for the day. Lobster roll: Yup. Everything it's cracked up to be. The grilled buttery bun was full to the brim, and perfectly dressed in butter, lemon, spice, and mayo. The meat was tender and flavorful. Totally worth every penny. When a little claw fell off my bun and onto the floor, (ACK! That's like dropping $2 on the floor!) I almost employed the 5 second rule...but decided against it. Lobster bisque: Delicious! They don't skimp on the lobster at all, and the balance of flavors is very good. I would order it again. Seafood Platter: The clams and the scallops were standouts. The fish was pretty lame, but honestly, so so much other food, we just skipped it and didn't miss it at all. This is the perfect place to stop for lunch on your way to any of the beaches in the area. Eat it there while it's hot so you aren't cleaning grease off your car seats on your way home.

Very bare bones and not fussy but THE best lobster roll I have ever had! Order inside to sit or outside to go. Honestly, with the atmosphere inside I'd suggest you get it to go. The clam strip roll was pretty solid too. A great place to stop and definitely kid-friendly.

Superb lobster roll with minimal mayo. No nonsense clam shack ambiance, which I prefer. Service is brisk but friendly. Portions are large, and you see by the way the staff plates food they are really committed to giving you every precious bit of glorious seafood you ordered. Post Labor Day, 15 minutes before closing, and the parking lot is full. Do you need any other recommendation?

Hit this place real quick on the way to p-town for lunch. 2 lobster rolls, 1 hot for the wife, cold for me and a quick cup of clam chowdah. The soup was thin, but super tasty and lots of potatoes and clams at the bottom. The lobster rolls were ready fast, and they had no problems with our dogs in the picnic bench area. It looked like they had an inside dining area, but we had the pups. -1 star for all the claw and filler meat in the rolls. We found some tail meat, but it was disproportionate to the other stuff. I'm not saying its not there, maybe we just got a scoop that was light on the tail meat, but I was a little bummed.

Had dinner here with my husband our first night on Cape Cod. The menu is giant, with many options for non-seafood lovers. My husband had the fish tacos and loved them. I had the "homemade fried chicken," and it was delicious! I wasn't expecting much at a "seafood shack," but it really did taste homemade. The breading was great, not spicey, but perfectly cooked. It came with 4 pieces, a wing, leg, thigh and breast. I subbed the french fries for a corn on the cob that was fresh and juicy. It also came with a small side of slaw. Our total was about $30 for the tacos, chicken platter, an extra corn for my husband and a large soda. A little pricey, but it is Cape Cod and they give you lots of food. Only complaint is they charge for soda refills, just a personal pet peeve of mine. At least one should be free. The service was very friendly. The waiting area in front of the cashiers is very small, so it's best to stand back, decide what you want and then get in line. Seating is informal and casual on picnic benches. We brought our dog along, and so did many others. Would definitely return if on the Cape again.

A Wellfleet favorite! Casual yet fresh. Excellent salad selection and lobster rolls and not to miss - their clam chowder!

We stopped here after a 5 hour drive into the Cape around lunchtime. It was a little crowded and the parking lot was full but that just meant it was that good and it was! We had lobster rolls and awesome fried clam strips. Definitely a go to spot while in Wellfleet for a no frills easy place to get a good 'ol lobstah' roll some clam strips!

I love this place. You may think this family owned restaurant is just your typical tourist trap. It isn't. The food is very consistent and delivers a wide variety of options. The burgers are superbly cooked and remind me of being a kid and camping. The quality of the food is really impressive considering what you expect from these places. Great place to stop on the way to or from the beach. very kid friendly.

I've been here before, but only went to the take out window. I actually didn't realize they had an interior part til this year. I've seen people comment on the prices, but I'm going to be pretty straight forward, EVERY place down here is overpriced. Particularly the seafood places. Having said that, I can actually say this place was not that crazy (again that's relative to the other places around here). The food was pretty good and relatively quick. Also, unlike some of the other places, this place made it convenient for you and accepts credit cards! Wow, welcome to 1970 cape cod. The linguica roll was awesome and the sweet potatoe fries rocked!

The best lobster roll that we could find on the cape (we searched). Good crab cakes. The ambiance was not as good - definitely recommend it for take out.

We rode our bikes on a summers day from apt own to Wellfleet. Luckily we ended up at this amazing roadside restaurant. Seafood at its finest. We had the recommended lobster roll and we were not disappointed. The people beside us had fried clams. They had the whole clam and a order of just the 'foot '. I've never had fried clams but they looked like a New England speciality. If I ever pass this way again I will definitely try the clams or maybe the fish tacos.

Just ate here on the way to P Town for a concert/event. Great lobstah roll, clam chowdah, quohog, scallops. Excellent! Just what was needed!

I'm back! had my first of the 2014 season PJ's fix this past Sunday night with a friend. Was thrilled that there was a Portugese mussel dish special on the board done with linguica , tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and the biggest and most perfectly cooked mussels ever! I have to admit, I order mussels everywhere and PJ's gets the big gold star for perfectly cooked and fresh everytime I dine there. I also ordered another PJ's special that was an amazingly delicious blackened salmon done with a cucumber/wasabi sauce and Asian cole slaw. Folks, I kid you not, this restaurant and chef knocks it out of the ballpark everytime for me. I LOVE PJ's can wait for this weekend!!! P. S. Try the new ginger ice cream! Am I really on Cape Cod? LOL

8 oz. lobster roll. It shouldn't even come with french fries, because you shouldn't ingest anything that will deter from the experience of eating a lobster roll that is near impossible to eat with two hands. Additionally, I was impressed that while the parking lot was jam packed, we had no problem finding a seat on a Saturday night. The inside seating area and counter service is kind of hidden and not as crowded as the outside picnic tables and walk-up windows. Also, BYOB FTW!!

  • Jess M.

I went here early September on a Tuesday so it wasn't as crowded as other times. So I was surprised that our food took a pretty long time to come out. I had little neck Clams and they were pretty good. I was also impressed that they didn't over cook my corn on the cob, because most places do- bonus points. Other than that, a pretty mediocre experience.

Tradition! We meet here the first day of every cape holiday. Coming from all over America we sit hug and eat at this great institution. It IS America. The food is fresh delicious and abundant. Fried Chicken. Home made. Delish. Go. Go.

Great place to grab a bite and a taste of the Cape. Nothing snoody about this place! Bring your family or just grab a bite with a friend. Very low key with good prices and great food! We had crab cakes, shrimp and corn chowder and a lobster roll. All very good!

Amazing, updated version of the stereotypical fried-clams-and-ice-cream shack you'd expect to find on the Cape. Definitely a lot of variety on the menu. Husband really enjoyed his seafood special with steamers, fried clams, and so much more. Great onion rings. Friends loved the BBQ ribs (a special) and the fish tacos. Plentiful serving sizes. Even my caesar salad was crisp and fresh, if nothing special. The fried veggies were sinfully delicious. And the butterscotch dipped cone took me right back to some lovely childhood memories. It's the kind of place you can go right from the beach, no worries about dress. There is seating both inside and out, but inside can get stuffy on a warm day (no a/c). It smelled a bit of body odor inside tonight after a long, hot day. That's the only reason it's not a 5 star review. This place is less than 5 mins from where we're staying, so you can bet we're going back several times while on the Cape.

We ordered - 2 lobster rolls - gazpacho - linguica roll - garden salad One thing we did that we are so proud of ourselves for was calling in an order 20 min before arriving there. The line was looong! The lobster rolls were amazing! One of the best. The roll (slathered with butter) really brought out the flavor of the lobster! The gazpacho was good, nothing fancy or special. Same goes for the salad The linguica roll was intimidating at first because it is literally a large piece of meet in a hot dog bun. BUT, it was very tasty. I would definitely go back and definitely call in our order.

Excellent. We come every time we are in town, and I always have a lobster roll. I did take a star because my lobster roll had less lobster this year. :( Ice cream wasn't bad either. You can eat inside or outside, and there's plenty of parking.

An amazing local restaurant- lobster and lobster roll are delicious!! As is the setting, and everything about this place. Super affordable seafood.

Maybe the best lobster roll I ever had. Onion rings were incredible as well. Even the clam chowder that was thinner in texture than I like was great. Great place not a complaint I can think of.

  • Lisa N.

Maybe it's because we went at 9:30 on a busy summer night (they're open til 10), but what a let down! Out of onion rings, lobster roll was skimpy, fries were soggy--so unlike previous visits. Will wait until the crowds disperse... always better (as are most places) in the shoulder season!

This place has probably one of, if not THE, best lobster rolls I've ever had. It costs a bit more than its competitors down the road, but it's worth it: big chunks of lobster, just a hint of mayo, and a perfectly toasted bun. My friend's and I snuck a mutual friend (whose wife forbids him to eat shellfish) one of these suckers and we ate it together. After eating it, we pretty much melted onto the porch because it was so good. Then we went back and got steamers, fried clams, and peel'n'eat shrimp...all of which were delicious. If we had more time in the Wellfleet area, I would've gone and tried everything on the menu. Service was also quite friendly. We got take out, so I can't speak to the atmosphere. But there were lots of kids and families, but it could also pass for a "date" place, I suppose.

Based on the glorious reviews, I was hoping for better. A friend of mine ordered a veggie burger and it came out noticeably burnt. I was surprised they would have let it out of the kitchen looking like that. I guess that Veggie Burger's aren't the specialty but to burn something that simple is pretty lame. My fried clams were solid. But the portion was a little underwhelming. I was expecting a heaping platter a la Joh's FootLong in Provincetown. I'd definitely give it another try...but only order seafood.

PJ's is a great place to get seafood on the Cape. The place has a no-frills ambiance where you bus your own tables and get your own food. Seating is available both indoors and outdoors, and the indoors space has slightly less of a DIY air. We went there for lunch on a weekday and the place was amply seated. Our order took about 20 minutes to come out, which was fine as that probably attested to its freshness. The highlights of our meal included the lobster roll (nicely toasted run, lightly dressed sweet lobster chunks. Worked wonderfully when eaten with the crunchy coleslaw that it came with), the gazpacho (one of the best that I've had; very flavourful and refreshing on a hot day), the steamed mussels (very nice wine-spiked broth), and of course the freshly steamed lobster. Since we came at the peak of sweet corn season, the corn that came with the lobster was excellent as well. The only miss was the swordfish burger, which has a bitter taste from too much charring. Otherwise, it was an excellent, messy, delicious seafood feast!

A very good find. We have a 4 year old and 7 mos old, and we looked specifically for a restaurant that would meet their needs. We found it! Other than not having clam cakes, they offered many choices (grilled cheese for my daughter, fish for my husband and i) the food was very fresh, delicious, and the price was reasonable. Highly recommend for families.

It was stupidly, mind-meltingly hot on my first day on the Cape during my East Coast adventure a few weeks ago, but I still had to get the Lobster Chowder along with the cold Lobster Roll at PJ's. This little shack was featured on the Food Network and they deliver on the hype. The Lobster Roll was probably the best I experienced on The Cape and the Chowder was delicious (even in the sweltering heat). Not the cheapest fast-foodish shack, but you're in Cape Cod. Get some delicious seafood in your belly!

Lobster rolls are amazing and are served on a grilled buttery bun. Believe all the good things you've heard. Make sure to get a seat ahead of time and have as there is no table service.

My friends went for the ice cream, I went for the clam chowder. Their clam chowder was amazing-full of clams and not super heavy and thick.

I really like PJ's. I don't mind standing in the parking lot to wait to order, I almost don't mind the lines of people ordering - I don't even really mind the sticky tablecloths on the picnic tables, all things that would bug the hell out of me normally. The food is solid and good. I know this is heresy, but really the best time to go here is in the fall when it's a little cool, the picnic tables aren't crowded and the food seems even better! About eight picnic tables outside, seating inside, order at the counter, sit anywhere and wait for your number to be called. But that's just me - I love seafood. Crispy fried whole belly clams (small), sweet fried shrimp and always fresh fish are here and everything comes as a small or large side order, or as a plate. I do like to order side orders here so I can have just a bunch of whole belly clams and a side of onion rings- crispy, sweet and hot. Odd things on the menu are surprisingly good - a side of fried vegetables(broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms) was hot and crisp on a damp spring day. Don't especially care for the shrimp and corn chowder, it was thin and weak but the pastrami sandwich was solid & good.. The "regular" lobster ($13.99) roll won't go down in my book of faves although it does come in a tasty grilled hot dog roll, the type you only find in New England - it's rather small and gone in a few bites - so sad. It's $23.99 for the "jumbo" lobster roll, a Food Network choice of someone - it's definitely twice the size of the small and it comes with ff and cole slaw and if you're going to splurge on a lobster roll, go for the jumbo. A nice mix of salads and burgers, sandwiches, clambakes, broiled seafood and steamed things (mussels, clams, etc) round out a surprisingly extensive menu, with daily lunch and dinner specials. Kids menu too. Oh, and save room for the ice cream - the deeeeelicious ice cream - it's another line to stand in, but you'll be glad you did!

Best lobster roll I've ever had. Just enough mayonnaise without drowning out the big chunks of lobster meat. Fish and chips are a must try too. Large piece of fish with a small amount of fries done just right.

    (5)
  • Michele G.

Enormous lobster roll given with the obligatory soggy fries and gross cole slaw. Smells like fish and fried food, which, given the nature of the place -- a fried food palace for takeout -- is perfectly fine. Food takes forever to arrive, however, and is NOT cheap. Be willing to pay for it. I think the big lobster roll was $25, a price on par with the Legals and Skip Jacks out there.

    (3)
  • Ryan K.

It is true that their lobster rolls are amazing. A little pricey. There is inside and outside seating, but you'll have to wait to sit inside. It's less of a restaurant and more of a drive in. If you're a tourist, PJ's is a must-stop.

Another tasty meal had in Wellfleet! In desperate need of fried seafood (but with a companion with a serious seafood allergy in tow), we made our way to dinner at PJ's. There's takeout and order seating, but we opted to order and eat inside. The food cooked super fast, and the price was nice-- $15ish dollars for my fried shrimp plate with fries, a roll, and coleslaw...and it was really two meals in one! I also sampled some delightful clam chowder, and tasted a fried clam..mmm seafoody goodness. They do fry their non-seafood items separately, so this is a safe dining destination for those allergic to (or who just plain hate) seafood. They also take credit cards, provide free water from a cooler, and have an attached dessert shop which looked tempting.

Really delicious fish and chips. Awesome fries. Kinda pricey but on par with the prices in the area. I'd definitely go back!

Deep fried yummy fresh shellfish... boy oh boy, did I stop at the right spot or what!! Driving my way through the cape, on the way back from Provincetown, I was determent to stop at one of the shack at Wellfleet area. They are known for their shellfish oysters and clams here. So OF COURSE! Anyone who comes by this area MUST stop for some tasty treats. Didn't expect much since all weekend fried food was ok, I didn't expect much.. While driving, I didn't pay much attention to the flavor of this deep fried oyster and clam belly which cost $14 for a small. After several tasting of them, I realized that it SO JUICY! Yummy, although it was fried, but I was loving it more and more after each bite. My mouth is watery writing right now. So delicious, Wow! I shoulda, woulda had the large size IF ONLY I KNEW. Hahaa. So Come, Cuz you are missing out! and enjoy what this place Gotta Give!

PJ's makes a perfect lobster roll. The regular size roll includes what must be an entire 1.25-lb lobster's worth of meat, with just enough mayo to hold it together and not a drop more. They don't pad the lobster with useless filler like celery. It comes on a buttered hot dog roll, split on the top New England style. It was also appropriately priced at just $14, unlike more touristy spots that charge $20+ for an inferior sandwich. When I think of a New England lobster roll, this is EXACTLY what I have in mind. Speaking of the Platonic ideal of lobster rolls, the restaurant itself is your archetypal New England summertime beach-town lobster stand. You can order from a take-out window in the front and sit on picnic tables outside if you wish, or else sit inside at comfy tables. No frills, no posters screaming about awards won or Food Network stars visiting, nothing to distract from the impression that this is where locals go. The service was cheerful, too, which as a Boston resident for more than a decade I am aware is an optional feature for most of our restaurants. Maybe being near the beach on a sunny summer afternoon takes the surly edge off. I thoroughly enjoyed my PJ's experience and look forward to returning.

We ordered take out and it was quick. We enjoyed all the "specials" but the fried dishes were not as good - especially when they got cold and soggy upon getting back to the cottage. Good place with friendly staff... We also stopped by for another lunch and ice cream break... Enjoyed this place.

We got lobster chowder and lobster rolls. They were the BEST! Even better than our favorite in Maine. It was just jam packed with fresh lobster, the perfect amount of buttery roll...and the chowder was INCREDIBLE. We were so pleased. We didn't really care for Cape Cod (our first time and we are from CA) that much, this was the best part for us!

We hit PJ's on a summer Saturday afternoon and of course it was crowded. We waited about 15 minutes (see below) for a what would turn out to be a very disappointing meal. The lobster rolls were a huge let down - not terribly large and absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Is a pile a of lobster meat on a cold hot dog roll your ideal summer lunch? This is your place then. If you're actually looking for some flavor (like a little mayo, spices, etc) look elsewhere. The onion rings were way over-fried and basically burnt. The fish tacos were quite pedestrian and had been sitting too long before being served. And how on earth do you screw up mac and cheese? My youngest son was staring sadly at what could only be described as mac and cheese soup. The best part of this was the extra 5 minutes wait for our food. Why? Because for reasons only known to PJ's they have two separate speaker systems to announce when food is ready - one for the inside and one for the outside. They called our number outside for a few minutes before calling inside? Why ? Seriously ? With Moby's up the street, Mac's shack on the pier and Arnold's just down the road, why would anyone eat here ? We never will again.

*Ice cream review only* PJs is an institution. I think I've had the food here (probably as a child), but mostly, it's our late-night "must have ice cream" fix. Coffee/black raspberry soft serve in chocolate dip. Awesome. This is a funny, only PJs conversation between staff and customer: "I'd like the vanilla ice cream" "Here ya go" "That's not vanilla ice cream, I wanted the hard vanilla ice cream" "Umm, wait, you wanted vanilla ice cream right? This is vanilla ice cream." "Yeah but I wanted hard vanilla ice cream." "(Scoffs) Ha, um, ok well you have to say that, because this is the soft serve vanilla and that's usually what we'd serve when someone asks for ice cream, not the hard ice cream, sooo... just remember that for next time." Customer turns red and shrugs shoulders. In other words, soft serve, baby!

A great place to stop for lunch after floating around on Great Pond, as its right down the way. The food is pretty standard and overpriced, but tastes damned good! I had a clam roll and it was fantastic. The onion rings and peel n' eat shrimp are also bangin' good. However, watch out for the GreenHead Flies. They were everywhere, and drew blood this last time from a friend's foot!! PJ's needs to do something about this year's apparent GreenHead infestation. Aside from the pesky GreenHeads and pesky prices - its tasty tasty!!!

Still a great experience. The clam rolls haven't changed and are still the best of the Cape, the ice cream is still fantastic, and I love the lobster rolls and even the fried chicken. The fried chicken platter is a half a bird. It's BYOB in the dining room, you can grab a six pack at the package store next door and share it with your friends.

Fine, you have to get over eating in the parking lot but the prices are great, the food is yummy, and I can go there right after the beach and not feel like too much of a slob.

This turned out to be the best lobster roll we had on our cape cod trip. Tasted great and priced right. Pair that up with the crab with the crab cakes and you got yourself a great meal. Don't forget to get some ice cream afterwards.

They kindly include several vegetarian options which is great. Clearly these are not the specialty of the house. A decent place to join your fish loving friends in search of the Cape Cod experience.

Delish lobster roll, we stopped here twice on our 3 day trip in Truro! Husband is the meat/fish eater and he couldn't get it off his mind. Isn't drowned in mayo, just simplicity. Don't miss this spot if you're close. This was the only place my husband wanted to re-visit on the entire cape. As a veggie, the french fries are super good, although avoid the grilled cheese, you could make better at home. Mozza sticks were good, although pretty typical, but came with a basic marinara sauce and kept me happy while my husband enjoyed his lobster roll. If you love lobster, give it a whirl, even if your wife is a vegetarian!

The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because I only had the onion rings and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was "meh", yummy, but average. Probably great for kids, and people with a slight buzz on. The onion rings however, were PERFECT. And I know my onion rings. They were lightly battered, crispy, and flavorful. Not the kind where you try to bite it and the whole onion comes slipping out of the fried shell. Nope, these were positively YUMMY. PJ's is a casual walk-up eatery right on Rte. 6 in Wellfleet. It's a summer establishment. You just walk up to the window to place your order and wait for your number to be called. There are picnic tables for sitting. Prices range from $3-6 for sides, $8-12 for grill, and $11-20 for seafood. Menu items include basic summer Cape Cod fare: fried seafood, bugers/dogs, lobster rolls, chowdah, crab cakes, fried veggies (i'm getting these next time), and a full ice cream selection.

In my opinion PJ's has The Best Lobster Roll in New England, which means the best in the world! Perfectly toasted buttered roll with the perfect amount of perfectly made lobster. Yum! Amazing! So was everything else my family and I ate at PJ's. Great fried whole belly clams. Mussels Italiano were great! Scallop roll was great. Onion rings were great. It is fun to eat there and get ice cream for dessert. It is also great to takeout. PJ's is tremendous. We cannot wait to go back next summer.

Come Labor Day Weekend, basically all of Massachusetts, in an effort to cling to the last remnants of summer, sweaty hands slipping on an all too thin and heavy rope, brave angering amounts of bottleneck traffic and venture down that sunny day mecca known as Cape Cod. And I would be damned to hell if I weren't gonna get me some bivalve fried goodness. Having acquainted myself with just about every clam shack in New England, I trusted myself to the know how of fellow massholes, and went to PJ's. And it fulfilled my last salute to summer. The fried clam plate was very good. A different kind of batter than the crispy, light variety found at the clam box and Farnham's on the North Shore, these clams had a slightly more cornmeal/spiced variety. Generally this means that they weren't quite as crispy and flake crusted as my favorites, but they still did the job. The clams were sweet, the bellies delicious. Nothing was overcooked, but packed with the juice that everyone looks forward to when biting into a clam shack fried clam. The fries are what they are - nothing special, but that's not why you're here. Interestingly enough, PJ's served their clam plate (which by the way may seem expensive, but it's about average priced for one of these joints), was served also with coleslaw and a lovely puffy bun. In addition to the clam plate, a nice surprise was the clam chowder. This is not a thick gloop that would come out of a can, but a lesser known variety of home made chowder whose broth is thin, milky, speckled with fat droplets, and saturated with clam juice flavor. Delicious chopped clams, and bits of potato just leave you nodding in appreciation of whoever concocted this simple soup. Definitely order it if you go. My husband ordered the crab cakes. Boo this man. Who goes to a clam shack to order crab cakes? This guy. To his credit, they were pretty good and probably from local crab. I just can't get down with his choice... on principle. Top your whole meal off with some cheap soft serve. Ta-Da! Summer accomplished. Now only a million months, some mittens, and a windshield scraper before it comes back. ::sigh:: Run to PJ's while you still can!!!

This place does fried seafood very well. The fried scallops and clams are delicious. The onion rings and french fries are done nicely as well. Overall, not spectacular, but you won't be disappointed. Great place for families with young kids too. However,if you're looking for non-seafood items such as the burgers, this is not the place for you. Burgers are thin and over-cooked. They offer both table seating (counter service) or outside service. Compared to other similar Cape Cod places the prices are inline. I'm happy to recommend PJ's to anyone travelling Rt. 6 in Wellfleet if you're having a hankering for fresh, well-fried sea critters.

Have to go every summer and eat in the dining room, which is the same self service as the parking lot windows and outdoor seating but a lot cooler and cleaner. New menu item this year are fish tacos. 2 with haddock for 9.99- a bit more to add avocado or cheese. Huge and messy and totally delicious. I'm taking off a star for the pastrami sandwich my non-fish eating companion had. It was good but not great. Stick with the seafood and fried foods at P.J.'s and it is 5 stars.

The lobster roll here is seriously delicious. The bread is perfectly toasted with just enough butter on it to bring out the best of the flavor in the lobster meat. The portion is small, but then again, I can't recall a time when I ever thought a lobster roll was big enough.

We stayed in Truro for a week in August and happened upon this place by accident. We were craving lobster so ordered the lobster rolls. They are a bit expensive, but we decided to try them anyway. Wow, they toast the hotdog bun with butter and load it with lots of yummy lobster! Very little mayonnaise which is fine by me! i ended up coming here 3 times during the week to go back for the lobster roll. My friend had a feta cheese and cranberry salad which was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone craving the lobstahhhhh!

While in Cape Cod I frequented PJ's twice. I had the lobster roll, whole belly clams, scallop roll, lobster chowder, and onion rings. This place is right on par with Arnold's in Eastham. Actually, the menu, prices, and seafood is nearly identical except for the batter - which comes down to a personal preference. Everything is great here. The lobster chowder had some nice chunks of meat it it. The food costs a lot....but you get what you pay for: High quality fresh seafood.

Well, after being turned back from the Beachcombers full lot at 11:40 am where we had wanted seafood by the shore, we went back down Cahoon Hollow Road to this joint. The menu is pretty large and the outdoor seating area is shaded and cool. However you either have to sit in a stripped down indoor dining room or picnic tables outside by the parking and Rt. 6 traffic. Regardless of where you dine, you place your order at a counter and pick it up yourself. All dinnerware is paper and plastic. We had a large group with varied tastes so we saw a lot of what they make. We had some lobsters $19.99 for 1.25 lb tiny lobster up to $27.99 for a 2 lb baby. They came with corn and a baked potato. The corn was local and pretty good, but most likely a day or so old. The potato seemed cooked the night before and reheated with lots of dark spots (read old and not very fresh). Otherwise, how can you screw up a steamed lobster? We had a couple of apps which were the crabcakes, and fried fresh veggies with ranch dip. The crabcakes (2) were about a hamburger size served with a slightly spicy sauce which was pretty good. The fresh veggies were zucchini, broccoli and mushrooms and were overcooked and very smooshy inside. The ranch dressing dip served with them was pretty awful and we never finished this dish. One of our friends ordered the cajun grilled salmon sandwich special ($10.99) which was large served with a bunch of steakfries (prepackaged frozen kind, but fried well). This plate really looked great. Another friend ordered a side of onion rings which looked amazing! Medium-sized paper boat plate which was mounded full and these actually looked homemade. My husband and I split the fisherman's platter ($27.99) and it was okay. The scallops were the best part, large succulent and cooked perfectly. The clams were small, maybe old, over coated and overcooked. The shrimp wasn't great, but I'm not really a fan of fried shrimp. They were on the small side and overcoated and cooked like the clams. The fish was flounder and even though it was thin and delicate it was coated and cooked pretty well. Then there were the prepackaged fried steak fries which were okay. One of our children ordered the mac-n-cheese ($2.79) which looked homemade and pretty good. So glad it wasn't kraft boxed stuff, that really upsets me at any restaurant. Two of the children ordered grilled cheese sandwiches which looked pretty good and were served with fries (have some more fried food with that?). The last adult ordered a lobster roll which looked okay, but we didn't hear any oohs or ahhs. Personally not a fan of lobster mixed with anything, especially not mayo... One issue we had is that my 7 year old ordered a lobster which he wanted to share with his sister. I asked them for another bib and plate and was handed the flimsiest paper plate that would never stand up to the water that comes out of a lobster. Also, they charge a $2 returnable fee for the lobster crackers. You'd think that they would give you a stiffer plate for the stiff prices they charge for their seafood. They have an ice cream takeout next to the food and the ice cream looked pretty good. The prices listed had very little to do with what you were charged. My son wanted a small kiddie dish of ice cream with jimmies and the price was listed as $1.99 plus an extra charge for jimmies (how cheap can you get?) and the total for his dessert was $3.96 with tax. After growing up near Kimball Farms where jimmies aren't an extra charge and the kiddie cup is usually what most adults would consider a large for $2.79 it's hard to order at the stingy places... This place was a great take for a large happy group with already dashed expectations and we enjoyed sitting outside. However, the seafood is very pricey and they use the lowest quality condiments, plates, flatware, etc. They take pretty good care of the cleanliness of the dining area. If your desperate for seafood on the cape, there are TONS of really awful family restaurants and you won't be totally disappointed choosing this place.

PJ's is an outer Cape classic. All the staples are there ... I enjoy the peel & eat shrimp, the fried shrimp, clams, scallops, ice cream etc. The service seems to be mainly kids working their summers away from school -- they are usually really friendly and full of energy even though I'm sure they are working long long long hours. Don't expect anything fancy, it is what it is. Come for a relaxing casual meal after a long day at the beach and you won't be disappointed.

Eh...it's alright. The typical order at the window fried seafood joint. I got excited when I saw the Food Network sign that they were on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" I got the fried clam roll with bellies. It was pretty good. The fries were ok and the slaw needed some help. My bro got the lobster roll, he said it was pretty good. We also got some fish and chips. The batter on the fish was a little too thin, so some of the fish was exposed during frying and a little dried out. Overall it's ok.

Just OK. The mussels were good, as was the kale soup, but the crab cakes and shrimp kabobs were average. The salmon was a good portion but lacked flavor. The clam chowder lacked in thickness and substance. Plus no free refills on sodas.

Great Lobster Roll. Fried shrimp was a little boring. thin batter "slipped" off the shrimp. order the lobster roll here. You won't be disappointed

Perfect spot to stop for a snack on your way to Provincetown. Nice simple lobster roll on a butter toasted hot dog roll. A+

Excellent lunch - we ordered clams, burgers and mac and cheese. It came fast and was great and hit the spot. The menu also had great ice cream offerings but we decided to save that for next time. The dining room was impeccably clean - a pleasant surprise. We came during a lull of customers Sunday afternoon there was steady traffic at the outside windows. We'll be back!

OK this place is really good for what it is. In my opinion, it is FAR better than Arnold's which is more expensive and always has a much longer wait...I don't know why... Maybe it's because here they are fast and efficient...in years and years of coming here...no matter how slammed they are...they have never gotten my order wrong. Yeah, it can be somewhat inconsistent but it's never really all that bad and the portions are huge and while not super-cheap they seldom raise prices much and the specials are pretty good deals (especially lobster specials.) The only thing that falls short is the soup: too watery, too pricey for what you get. Ice cream's good too. Friendly staff.

Been coming here regularly ever since the Lobster Hutt closed (sigh), and it's great. As everyone else says, the lobster rolls are great, as are the fried whole clam rolls. Their lobster dinners are pretty good for the money too. If you don't like seafood, it'll seem a little overrated. Their burgers, hot dogs and chicken are fine, but nothing to write home about. Their seafood is great, however. I recommend getting take-out and bringing it to the beach, or to whatever place you're staying at. Much nicer than hanging out at the picnic tables.

One of the best drive ins I have every eaten at. Best lobster roll. Eat there 12 years ago and fell in love with it. Went there again this year and it is just as good or better.

Very good lobster roll, ok onion rings, very good crab cakes. Loved by people whose opinions I trust, so I'll return.

So good! We ate here three times the week we were on vacation! The first time we had a large order of fried shrimp and fries. Super tasty!! The second time we each had 1 1/2lbs lobster dinners. It also came with a backed potato and an ear of corn. $25 for the whole shebang. THe lobster was PACKED with meat and delicious. Probably the best lobster I have ever had. The third time I had lobster chowder and fried shrimp. Sensing a theme? ANd of course, it was delicious. I think I enjoy lobster more as a bisque - but thats just a personal preference. PJs has both indoor and outdoor seating. They have an enormous seafood and grill menu as well as ice cream and other sweet treats. Your food is served promptly and there is always someone available to take your order.

Had a great time here. The interior decor is a little lacking and is a bit cold, but the food is quite good. If you're looking for casual fried food, PJ's is your place! On another note, their lobster rolls are absolutely the best in the area and come with a heaping amount of lobster, a little bit of mayo, and nothing else (this is a god thing - it means more lobster).

Best Clams in town!! Loved the fried clams, loved the fries, loved the slaw! My boyfriend and I were very very happy campers!

To start on a positive note: The dipped ice cream cone ROCKED and definitely fit the bill on a hot day. Now for the gripes: 1. I ordered a green salad with grilled chicken. The salad was a tiny iceberg salad that looked like something from Mickey D's and they forgot the chicken (it was charged for, though!) 2. The lobster chowder/bisque was 99% butter. The flavor was okay for a bite or two but it was extremely overwhelming. Not what any soup should be like. 3. The clam chowder was very thin and not creamy enough. Weird. The fried clams were pretty good but what's up with the fried shrimp? The batter was thin and completely falling off the shrimp. Gross, but it was almost okay by me since I was on Fried Food Overload. Ugh.

I love love love PJs for thier ice cream and hot dogs, but my seafood eating family members rave about the clam strip rolls and chowder. This place is wholesome Cape Codness! FYI Dont go here if you plan on getting a "green salad with grilled chicken"!

The food is really good but they have the most expensive Fish and Chip from a seafood market as far as I knew. Therefore I'm taking one star away from the original four stars. We've gotten bigger portion but cheaper price even in Nantucket. Before I left I saw someone order a big oyster sandwich. I'll definitely come back again just for that.

On our way back to NYC, we were disappointed with Cape Cod because they were suppose to be known for their fresh clams belly and oyster but each place we try it, it wasn't all that. We wanted to go to one of those local shack to get it but most of them weren't open yet. My friend stop by this place and it look like a family run restaurant so I didn't feel like trying anything but lucky my friend got the fried oyster and clam belly which cost $14 for a small and asked if they can just add half and half. At first i didn't feel like trying it but what kind of a cook would i been if I don't try things so I took the first bite and you can taste the freshness of the oyster. You can taste even single bite of their inner guts which was DELICIOUS. The clams was the same way and you can totally taste what it is. I was very surprise but happy that I got a chance to try it. I wish i brought more for home but guess it wasn't meant to be.

One of the largest and tastiest grilled chicken sandwiches ever. I didn't have ice cream, but the line for it was 15 deep the whole time we were there. Sit down dining is available, but we walked up to the window outside and ate at the picnic tables. A very nice experience.

Growing up in Wellfleet this place will always bring back memories of Ice Cream cones, and hot dogs! As I got older though I learned ot appreciate lobster rolls, and Kale soup. One of the best family places in Wellfleet when on vacation or if you live there year round.

PJs is simply a classic! It has burgers, seafood, ice cream and more. It is very casual, a lot of people eat in their bathing suits outside. It is a lot of fun to eat there.

Great lunch. The lobster chowder was outstanding (lots of chunks of lobster and great flavor) and two members of our party raved about the fried oysters. The kid with us liked the clam chowder but it looked surprisingly thin and milky (as opposed to thick and creamy). Super ice cream menu -- I wish we had hung around long enough to have some!

I still love PJ's for what it is: junky junk food. Still love to sit at the picnic tables in my wet sandy bathingsuit eating burgers, fries and a chocolate shake. It's junk like I never eat in real life.

i used to love P.J.'s when i was a kid. it was the 70's on the cape, and everything was hippied out, but occasionally i got to eat junk food here after the square-dances (i was about 5, so cut me some slack), and it was delicious! not anymore. i suspect the food is identical, but my tastes have changed (although i still like junk food burgers... it must just be that i'm more demanding of my crap). the soft serve with butterscotch dip remains fantastic on a hot summer day, but please don't eat the burgers and fries.
