Last Saturday night we decided to have a evening out with our friends. Because we had just gone to one of our classic Saturday night hangouts, we decided to change it up a bit. After texting our friends we decided to call Ellas as they tried to go last weekend and had a two hour wait! I got right on the phone and asked the hostess what times were available for that evening (mind you I called right at 3pm when they opened). The only seating they had for a table of 4 people was at 8:30pm! Although this was late, we had decided on Ellas, and just wanted to suck it up to try the food. After getting caught behind someone driving incredibly slow we were running late to meet up with our friends. I quickly got on the phone and called to let them know we would be arriving late. The person on the other end of the phone sounded relieved! Apparently parties were staying longer than anticipated and tables were not freeing up quickly. We arrived around 8:50ish and still had to wait 10 minutes to sit down. Luckily we were with our friends and it was nice to just catch up. After being seated toward the back of the restaurant my friend and I looked at one another and realized it was CRAZY loud in there. We were practically yelling at one another to be heard! Waitress came over and was very nice. One water (my friend is pregnant) and three drinks all came out quick. We were near the bar so I didn't think a glass of wine and two beers would take forever. We did start our night with the deep fried broccoli app. After the waitress brought it over, my friends husband commented "Whats that smell?" All four of us looked down and realized it was the cooked vegetable. Getting over the smell we all gave it a try. I personally LOVED it. It was crunchy and had this tasty sauce! My friends and husband thought it was good, but wouldn't get it again. For dinner my husband ordered the 8 ounce steak, his friend the duck, his wife a cheese pizza and I had a fig, prosciutto & balsamic glaze pizza. All of the food was EXCELLENT! The boys licked their plates, and the gals both took pizza home for lunch the next day. The only thing we were not happy with was the menu seemed small. There wasn't much of a choice if you didn't want italian seafood or steak. The pizza menu was great, but sometimes you just want a great pasta dish. Other than that, we have zero complaints.

OMG THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! Whenever we come in from California, we go here. Everything is delicious. This is hands down our favorite restaurant. I hope they still have the sweet potato ice cream when we come back this summer.

If you're looking for a restaurant on that special night out, then I highly recommend Ella's. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. A roaring fire could be seen in the oven as we walked in. The hostess quickly sat us and we were promptly greeted by our waitress who took our drink order. They had a nice selection of beers, wines and eclectic cocktails. We ordered the scallops and bacon pizza. It was delicious but on the salty side. We were very pleased with our experience and felt the cost was in line with the quality of the experience.

The hubby and I made a mistake. We had narrowed our choices down to another restaurant and Ella's. We chose the former. It sucked. : ( However, we tried Ella's the next weekend after that. What was that other place again? We have now found our new local go to place for a nice dinner out when wanting a bit more upscale, but still casual place. When walking into Ella's, you are greeted with a warming, tasteful décor. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. We were seated quickly on a Sunday evening (we had a reservation, and I would recommend doing the same), and started off with a basket of tasty, thin triangle thin bread, which is paired with a *very* nice, vibrant red pepper/sundried tomato pesto. A unique and wonderful beginning! For a starter, their littleneck chowder immediately caught my attention! I've never seen a clam chowder with sweet potato! An interesting combination we both thought...and a damn good one! And with bacon, too? (and everything tastes better with bacon). The clams were still in the shell and the presentation of the chowder was lovely. Really, really well done. For entrees? The hubby had their prosciutto & fig pizza as he tried one in Falmouth and loved it. Although he said the one in Falmouth may have been a smidgen better, he was quite satisfied with Ella's version. Ella's has some nice choices on their menu, but I wanted to go more casual so I tried their burger. It was nice...perfectly cooked - juicy and a beautiful shade of medium rare! And finally, for desert? We chose their sticky chocolate toffee pudding cake which came in a mini mason jar with the salted toffee sauce coming in a separate dish for dipping. Great delicious finish!! Ryan, our server, was really nice. Professional and friendly, and happy to elaborate on any questions we had about the menu. It was a lovely evening out. Look forward to visiting Ella's again, because I want to try a few more of their entrees to raise my four star review of them to a five. Based on this first experience with them, I'm confident that will happen.

The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was very pleasant and sophisticated. The food left us disappointed. We felt it lacked balance. The clam "chowder" was not a chowder. It was hot cream with some herbs and diced sweet potatoes, and exactly three clams in it (in the shell). The mussels were the best dish we tried, but the delicate flavor of sweet fresh mussels was overpowered by a heaping glob of chorizo slathered over each mussel, and Portuguese linguica sausage in the sauce. On the other hand, the scallop & bacon pizza was stingy on the scallops and bland. So although it was overall a very nice restaurant, the food didn't "wow" us.

When we arrived at Ella's for dinner, we were disappointed to learn that only a prix fixe menu was available. We stayed, ordered, and had ANOTHER fantastic meal at Ella's. My pumpkin ravioli was sweet and rich... absolutely delicious. My wife said her gnocchi meal was great, too (she shared only one small bite). Another trip to Ella's SOON!

There probably aren't sufficient words in my vocabulary to describe what an amazing meal and experience we had at Ella's. I had heard great things about this place from friends that live in the area, and finally got in for dinner last night. Every good word I heard about the place was true. We started with a burrata and prosciutto app and a baby kale salad with roasted acorn squash, smoked duck, hazelnuts and apple. it also had these mini cheese croquette things on it that were like crispy crunchy creamy croutons. Ridiculous good. Both apps were out of this world amazing. I'm a huge cheese fan and the burrata did not disappoint (a creamy soft center with mozzarella like flavor but with more complexity) it was drizzled with olive oil, balsamic, salt and fresh cracked pepper and served with a freshly grilled piece of toast. It was everything. The salad was a perfect mix of crunchy, tangy, sweet and fresh, and was perfectly dressed. For entrees, I got the smaller portion of sweet potato malfatti (like a gnocchi) that had kale, duck confit, mushroom and a red wine/mustard sauce that was supremely delicious, and a small wood grilled fresh mozz/basil pizza (had to try their wood fired pizza!) that was perfectly cooked, crispy and balanced (with perfect leopard char grilled spots on the crust underside! The mark of a truly perfect pizza!). Also the smaller portion of the malfatti dish was like a large portion, in my opinion, and I'm a pretty big guy at 6'4''! My partner got the swordfish with fingerling potatoes and fennel that was, as he put it "melt in your mouth" and I concur, because I had to sneak a bite! The service was also top notch (Susan I believe was her name!) menu items we didn't understand were explained with care, and the rest of the staff were professional, courteous and a true delight. Is this the cheapest meal you'll find in the area? Definitely not, but the quality and service is absolutely unmatched and you truly get what you pay for. The finest meal I've had in a long long time and it was worth every last penny. We'll be back soon and frequently!!!!

Went here with the family after water wizz. Had a very good appetizer set including oysters and steamed little necks. 4 entrees included spaghetti with meatballs and sausage, steak and some seafood pasta dish. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Desserts also were well received. The strawberry rhubarb crisp was very good. Drinks were also good I had a vodka gimlet which was prepared as I like and my wife had a nice Chardonnay. Service was good we will return.

Ella's is a surprise! I never knew something as good as this existed in this area. With time to spare to catch the 8:30 Vineyard ferry boat we opted to dine at Ella's through our Yelp app. Foi Gras Risotto to die for! Burgers, Salmon entree, Steak specials, pizza, caesar salad, amazing appetizers all in a great setting, wonderful staff and not far from the ferry. We will return every time we have time to kill waiting for the ferry.

This place is definitely one of the best places around the Wareham area, but I'm not sure... It's like there was something off. When my mom and I first arrived we were very impressed with the atmosphere and the extensive menu, but the service was a bit slow, although very, very friendly. I ordered the short rib ravioli they had on special, and my mom also ordered a special (I think it was swordfish). My ravioli came out cold :( the waitress was very apologetic and brought it back into the kitchen, but it took far too long for her to bring it back out... My mom was basically done with her meal. And although she was apologetic, the long wait actually made me feel like we should have received a discount or a small, complimentary dessert (and I'm not usually one to feel that way). It would have just been something to ensure we would come back, since we have a summer place nearby. Once heated, the ravioli was definitely good, but I ended up taking most of it home because my mom was already done eating. One thing I did absolutely love was the squash blossoms we got as an appetizer. Oh my oh my, they were great. I highly recommend those!

We've been here twice, and really enjoyed our meals on both occasions. Everything seemed very fresh and carefully crafted. As other reviews have suggested, this isn't a place that will fill you with bread. When you're seated, they offer these little toasts that are sort of lost in the basket. Your hand tends to swim around in there trying to find one. I don't mind, because I'm not there to eat bread. It just seems silly. The shishito pepper appetizer didn't impress us, but that's the only disappointment we've had so far. The crab cake, pizza, burger, salads and sticky chocolate toffee dessert all have given us reasons to rave and return.

Have eaten here many times and it is one of our favorites, and I have finally gotten to writing a review. The food is seasonal, creative and absolutely delicious. Reservations are a must as it is small and gets busy, even in the off season! Have had Thanksgiving dinner here twice, and just went this past weekend with 8 family members to celebrate a birthday. So there were lots of different appetizers, entrees and desserts ordered. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and service was excellent. I love that Ella's does not try to rush or turn tables. The timing of delivery of all segments of our meal was just perfect for a larger party. We were in at 6 and there until 8:30. A very civilized timetable! Appetizers: We had calamari, oysters, duck liver pate and the Caesar salad with the monstrous polenta/parmesan croutons. The calamari, oh my goodness, somehow, someway they managed to either saute or fry pieces of lemon, so, occasionally you would get an amazing lemony bite with your calamari! No need to squeeze lemon juice all over it! Entrees: Roasted duck, amazing. My husband had the hamburger, with a fried egg on top, he loved it. Bolognese Verdi, squash agnolotti, chicken ballontine, flatiron steak. Not one complaint. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. The portions are human sized which is also a plus. I love their linguini with clams but prefer that as a summer meal! Desserts: Caffe affogato - ice cream with espresso poured over it-to die for. The crème brulee is always amazing, beignets, and cannoli. I was bummed that I didn't see the drink special!! Emma's sunset with tequila and blood orange!! Next time I will be sure to ask what the drink special is. The pizza is very good here also, (the wood burning oven!), but I always want to try one of their awesome entrees and can never get 'just" pizza! The acoustics are louder in the front room than in the back so if there are only two or four of us we will try to sit in back. Ella's is definitely worth both the trip and the money, although it is not overly priced for how good the food is. Can't wait for another occasion to go back, although I do have the gift certificate I was given for my birthday :) Luckily my family didn't make me use it toward the bill haha!

My husband and I had a delicious dinner here last night. We started with a half dozen oysters from Chatham and a green pea and goat cheese dish drizzled with an aged vinegar. Dinner was soft shell crab and I had the lamb shank. Delicious! Our server, Ryan, was very polite, well informed about the menu and attentive. If you haven't been to Ella's you're missing a great restuarant!

I love Ella's. This is such a hidden gem in Wareham. The owner and head chef, Marc Swierkowski, opened the restaurant in 2008 and named it after his daughter. The ambiance is upscale yet casual, and the always changing menu is exquisite. I had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding here in June, and I have to say, Marc went above and beyond for us that night, and I am so grateful for that awesome evening. Whether you're in the area or on your way to the Cape, you must make a stop at Ella's. Everything on the menu is amazing. You will not be disappointed!

On 12/12, I met a high school friend of mine who I hadn't seen in many years for dinner. It was to use a gift certificate I had received a few years ago, but due to distance from the restaurant, I wasn't able to use it before that night. Between the calamari and baked clams, they were amazing. The calamari wasn't the least bit chewy and was something I would order again in a heartbeat. The saltimbocca was perfectly cooked and my friend devoured their pizza. Katherine, our waitress was so friendly and cooperative. She knew her stuff and it made for an awesome evening. I wouldn't hesitate for a second about going back.

Also would have been much better with an artisan style bun, bun they served looked like one I would get at a grocery store. I would not order this again. Dissapointing: "Stuffed Pepper" appetizer. Not what I would have expected at all. BAD: Gnocchi dish with the chicken ragu. Sauce too pasty, chicken was in big chunks, and worst of all the gnocchi were mushy, not firm. I would go back but I am going to stick to certain items only.

A real find in what is otherwise a wasteland of strip malls. A great atmosphere, the unmistakable smell of a wood burning oven, and great service. We showed up nearly 40 minutes late for our reservation (whoops), but the hostess graciously moved us to the top of the waiting list and offered to bring us a drink from the bar while we waited. We ended up filling up on appetizers and not even getting to try the entrees or pizza, but the mussels with chourizo were delicious, and the salumi/cheese plate was very well done. Very helpful and friendly server, a great toffee dessert (with sweet potato ice cream), and overall a great experience. If I'm ever back in Wareham (unlikely, but who knows!) I'll be back.

I'll be honest, dining selection in this part of Southeastern MA is as thin as it gets, but Ella's deserves a solid 4 star review on it's own merit. Cozy, friendly, and not overly into itself. Delightful appetizers (get the squash blossoms if they are offered!), wood-oven pizza's, lovely pasta dishes and a specials menu that you actually want to order off of. I do have one critique--though the red pepper dip is bright and just right, the hummus is dull and under seasoned.

Excellent restaurant on a very modest stretch of highway before Cape Cod. This is a fast food stretch on Cranberry highway. Ella's looks modest but has an ambitious menu. Even the pizzas are unusual. Many items tempted me. I ordered the sopressato pizza and a good zinfindel. They cut the sopressato fresh from a whole roll in the open kitchen. How often do you see that? The pizza came piping hot ..delicious with Oktoberfest beer. Excellent! Must return to try other entrees.

This is a hidden gem that's easily missed from the roadside. Brought a group and every plate was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Honestly, i didn't expect the food to be this tasty. Waiting staff was superb. We ended up staying for a few extra hours, eventually enjoying a drink on the patio listening to live music. For those of you that are looking for a great place to stop between the ferry ride to the islands, check it out. Even better, there's plenty of parking. Don't be fooled by the location, this is a great place to eat!

What a find amidst the dregs and drabs that the Cape area has to come to offer. The great selection of wine and beer - i'd recommend the Cape Cod Porter - is an appropriate start as you will want time to seriously contemplate this menu. (Note, if you want "house white" and "Bud Light" while you contemplate, you are probably not in the right place.) Lots of excellent choices that are worth the read. We went with Fried Squash Blossoms, Calamari and Local Mussels for apps and would do them all again - except there are others we want to try next time. Entree opportunities were killer - but we stayed simple since we had already taken a peek at the dessert menu...went with a Wild Mushroom & Caramelized Onion Pizza, Prosciutto and Fig Pizza, shrimp/housemade spaghetti and a Pineland burger with fried egg on top. While all sound normal, check out their menu listings and learn more. Again, all were fantastic and all were large enough to ensure our intended take home bags were full. Even with the take home plan, we could only split desserts and went for the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp and Cinnamon Apple Beignets.Wow...from first sight to last bite those had zero chance of take home. Ignore the big name heavily advertised tourist trap restaurants next door and choose this place for a great meal.

Count me as another convert to Ella's. Based on the exterior I may never have tried this place, but thanks to a friend I had the opportunity to lunch there today. A thin crust pizza with fig, garlic, prosciutto and arugula was incredible, wish I had taken a second one to go. Can't wait to go back.

We ate at Ella's yesterday. We went around 2:30 PM on a Sunday. It was very quiet and the server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I have a shellfish and crustacean allergy, and so the menu was quite limited for me. We ended up deciding to split some apps and a pizza. They gave us some breadsticks and dipping sauces, all of which were wonderful and obviously homemade. My boyfriend had the clam chowder, which I didn't try of course, and we split the meatball appetizer and a pizza. It says on the menu underneath the pizza list that you can design your own, so I asked if I could have what was on the shrimp pizza minus the shrimp. The pizza arrived and it was a small bar style pizza. The meatball appetizer was literally 2 meatballs for $10. They were good, and the sauce was also tasty, but $5 per meatball just irked me. And when we got the bill, the pizza was $14, which means I was still charged the price it would have been if I'd gotten the shrimp on it. $14 for a tiny vegetarian bar style pizza with almost no cheese or sauce was absolutely ridiculous to me. If they had taken a couple bucks off for not putting the shrimp on it, I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but it seemed obscene. Call me naive, but more than $40 for a small pizza, a bowl of soup, and 2 meatballs--all of which were just passable--just left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, not worth the money, and we probably won't be going back.

The food selection and ambiance highly resembled an authentic Italian restaurant that is usually only found an hour away in Boston's North district. I have had several unfortunate situations at this restaurant. Most recently, my husband and I show up at 9:30, expecting to be seated because their website says they are open until 10. After waiting 5 minutes to be seated, a hostess tells us that they are closed. I talk to the "head" hostess who tells us that they stop serving dinner at 8:30, even though the website says 10 pm. The fact that we drove 20 minutes out of our way to be turned down and told they are closed was absolutely ridiculous to me. Not to mention, the staff was COMPLETELY unapologetic about it and rudely hastened us out the door. Won't be going back. Thanks Ella's!

Every one at the table took a bite of the eggplant pizza and thought it was one of the best pizzas we ever had. Everyone else liked the caramelized onion and mushroom, me not so much. Stopped by with family on a whim. Came in with a hungry two year old, waitress very helpful getting high chair right away and chatting with the granddaughter. Prompt seating and service. Will definitely head back for that eggplant pizza.

Great spot! Charming atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was delicious, but I definitely recommend a reservation (we waited almost an hour for a table). We ended up sitting at the bar and found the bartender was a little overwhelmed. She was extremely pleasant, but we waited a long time to put in our order, get our food and our check. Entrees run from $19 to $29. Their pizza looked amazing and averages about $15. They provide bread with three different dipping sauces, which were ok. We ordered a "Sausage Stuffed Artichoke" for an appetizer, which was ok. Then, "Crispy Duck" and the "Black Tagliatelle with Scallops" for our main entree. The flavors in our entrees were exceptional and the ingredients really complimented each other. Finally, we finished with Sweet Potato ice cream over a warm brownie. This little piece of heaven is served in a jam, mason style jar. The whole bill was approximately $75 without cocktails and before tip. Despite the wait, are looking forward to going back soon!

The menu changes very often according to the season, and Chef Marc's preference. The dishes are always creative, delicious and wonderfully presented. We frequently stay in Onset Harbor, but thus time we had a car and ventured away from the harbor. Thanks to Yelp we found Ella's Wood Oven. What a find! The atmosphere was really nice, the server was friendly and informative and the food was excellent. Do not get attached to an item on the menu because the list of specials is extensive. Once your selection is made, a trio of spreads (hummus, sun dried tomato, and aioli) is presented with fresh bread... yum! My husband and u split a wedge salad with the perfect amount of dressing. I chose linguini with fresh clams which was prepared Al denote and the wine/lemon/garlic sauce was excellent. My husband had the special striped bass and it was a sizable piece of fish. Unfortunately, we left no room for dessert. Everything was excellent. We will definitely go back!

What a find! We visited for dinner last night with friends. As others have pointed out, this is not the sort of place that would draw you in if you were riding by. The surroundings are seedy. But resist the urge to pass it by. The food was great. First, complementary bread and spreads (hummus, sundried tomatoes) were a great complement to a generous martini. I started with the Sweet Potato and Littleneck chowder. A must have. Next, I had a special of Flat Iron Steak, that came with Broccoli Rabe and Scalloped Potatoes. It was prepared perfectly. My wife had the Salmon, which she said was prepared perfectly and was one of the best she ever had. For dessert, we had the Beignets, fried donut balls covered with cinnamon and sugar. They were hot and delicious. The pizza looked very good. but we'll have to try that next time. This place is a gem.

Tried Ella's for the first time recently. The service was top notch. Atmosphere was ok, nothing special. Wine list was a bit tired and beers on tap were not all that interesting. We had linguini and clams and mushroom onion pizza. Both were just ok. The little necks were past their prime but the pasta was yummy. The pizza was not as thin as mentioned on previous reviews. So, solid restaurant, just would not race back any time soon.

Can't say how surprising it is based on the outside. Was recommended to Ella's by my dental hygienist, of all things. You can get anything here from pizza to salad to fried calamari to foie gras. Have been multiple times and have never been disappointed. Call for a reservation as they are small. We have always found the servers to be well trained and have very rarely had even one dish on the table that was not up to par. If you want "fancy fine dining" this is not the place for you, but if you want very good food in a casual environment, it is. In general, this area is not known for great restaurants, and as a long time New Yorker, I miss it, this is one of my very few go-to spots for foodies.

On our way from NYC to Provincetown we needed a place to eat yelp guided us here. Not disappointed in the slightest. Perfectly served oysters with a spicy cranberry mignonette. This is easily the best restaurant in the Wareham/Bourne area, and probably across a much larger swathe of the South Coast and Upper Cape. It is worth driving very long distances to come here. The menu is amazing. Virtually every dish is a home run, from bread/dips to apps to salads to pizzas, a great burger, upscale pasta and meat entrees, and desserts. Great prices on wine by the bottle as well. The sweet potato chowder is a Must Try. It's a thinner broth with amazing flavor. The duck and fried rice has rotated off the menu, but that was my favorite meal of all of last summer. It can be a little tricky to spot, so keep your eyes peeled. It's right next to a small grocery store called Mazzilli's Farm Stand. As others have noted, it doesn't look like much on the outside, but it's a very nice cozy but upscale atmosphere inside, with the woodburning oven open to the main dining area.

For some reason this place looks like a very typical and mediocre casual pizza joint. It's not. I can't explain the incongruity between the restaurant's exterior and interior; perhaps there is a local zoning ordinance mandating seediness? Anyways, the food is really great. Fresh, elegant stuff. Simpler than most fine-dining but of the same quality. The entrees are pricey for the area (though well worth it), but the pizzas are quite affordable and amazing. I believe that the chef is a CIA graduate and that pedigree showed in both food and service. Despite the high standards, I felt totally comfortable bringing my two young children here. This is a great change of pace.

Love, love, love Ella's. My husband and I have been going since they opened. Chef is inventive and his menu changes every few months. Love all the pasta dishes and there is always great fish and meat on the menu. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. We have brought many friends to Ella's and they agree that Ella's is THE best restaurant in the area. Friends from Falmouth think nothing of driving up to meet us. Our daughter and son-in-law brought us to Ella's when we were last visiting them in Plymouth. We loved it. We just returned for another visit and we were off to Ella's again. A Hidden Gem on a Trashy Strip in Wareham So many friends of mine recommended this place, but I didn't go for such a long time because of its location on that trashy tourist strip in Wareham that I try to avoid at all costs. I finally broke down, and was pleasantly surprised!!! This place had an amazing menu, and was the perfect mix of elegant and cozy. Their gluten free pizza is not as good as "Wicked Fire Kissed Pizza", but they get an 'A' for effort (actually offering gluten free options). I think it would be 5-stars if they moved to a nicer section of Wareham. I do think this restaurant is pricey for the area.

The reviews here were absolutely accurate! Service was excellent! We had the Rootbeer BBQ Beef Short Ribs and the Fresh Tagliatelle w/ Little Neck Clams! We loved them and will be back to continue working our way through the menu. We agree with Cport J., it is easily the best restaurant we've tried on the South Coast. We have been to the Back Eddy a few times and while it may take the prize for location, the food doesn't come close to Ella's! Again, loved it!

As a new resident to the southern coast, I have been yearning for my first visit to Ella's based on reviews here on Yelp. Well, I didn't feel much like eating leftovers last night, so the Mister and I took a brief jaunt to Wareham. I'm not gonna lie; this section of Wareham is pretty rough around the edges, to say the least. Ella's signage is the first hint of elegance on this stretch of Cranberry Highway. (Though, on a separate note, there's a Pepsi logo in the corner of the sign. Looks kinda out of place, like it belongs on a crab shack or something. Anywho.) The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived for dinner around 6:30, not that there's anything wrong with that since we got instant attention and prompt service. The place is beautiful inside with stone walls, large paintings, tiled floors, nice bar area, and a great brick oven where the magic happens. We started with a couple sangrias served in mason jar mugs -- a cute touch to a good drink. We were served thin slices of bread with three spreads: hummus, oil, and a sun-dried tomato pesto. The bread didn't last long, so I was glad for my fork to have a couple more tastes while waiting for our appetizer: the crispy shrimp. Ohmygod, I wish I got my own and didn't have to share! In fact, I wish I got like three orders of it for an entree! It was phenomenal with perfectly cooked shrimp encased by delicious batter, all sweet-n-soured up. They weren't really crispy like the title says, but I couldn't have cared less since it tasted so amazing. I can't see myself going back to Ella's without ordering that shrimp every time. For entrees, Mister ordered a scallop and bacon pizza, and I got the pan roasted salmon. The pizza was thin-crust and very good, and there was no red sauce in order to allow the flavors to come through on their own. The scallops weren't "seafoody," indicative of their quality and freshness. My pan roasted salmon was crispy on top and cooked to perfection inside. It was served with fingerling potatoes and buttery asparagus. If only we had room for dessert...they had some gellato dishes and cheesecake that I would've loved to try. Next time. Ella's is not somewhere we'll be able to visit all the time (with a bill that was around ~$85 including tip), but splitting a pizza between two people is completely affordable. I can't recommend this place enough, and I certainly can't wait to go back!

I love this restaurant! Great option in the Wareham, Buzzards Bay, Onset, Plymouth area. I went tonight (Friday night, early July) and was by myself so I ate at the bar. The bartender was great. Can't remember her name, but she was a cute, young blond. The menu is big enough that it should have something for everyone and they have a few daily specials as well. I don't think they market themselves as locavore or farm to table but you can tell how fresh the ingredients are. And I assume that's what the specials are based on. I had the watermelon, feta salad to start which was delicious and had some wonderful additions such as toasted almonds, red onion, and baby greens in a tangy vinaigrette. For dinner I had the striped bass special, a firm, white fish cooked perfectly on a bed of spinach with garlic and a gazpacho "jus". There was absolutely nothing to complain about. I have also had the pizzas in the past - tasty thin crust with exotic ingredients (or not if that 's not your thing). Do not let the external look of this Restaurant nor it's location deter you. This is a close to fine dining experience on Cranberry highway in Wareham. I think eventually they will have to move to a larger space and if they do I vote for a bigger bar, but in the meantime I'll try to sneak in when I can.

This place could be great if it worked on a few things, PEOPLE SKILLS. We picked it cause we heard great things and we were driving by and decided to stop in. They had a decent crowd there but the hostess told us it would be a 30 min wait or so. we looked in to see if it was worth it and there were a number of empty tables and some people eating desert so we thought it would be less of a wait. But then they seat people with reservations walking in after us. But still leaving empty tables. Another couple came in and they were worried they were a half hour late for their reservation and asked us what time our reservation was? Sorry if they were that late we should ahve gotten the table and they should ahve to wait. But there are obviously some favorites played here. Then one of the wait staff asked if we were being helped, we told them but they looked around and then seated us right away. Then the hostess came and asked us how we got the seats. She was rude and not telling us reservations would be seated first lead to confusion. Once seated our server was fantastic as was the food. We liked it so much we went back this past weekend. Again a different RUDE hostess, this time our server was much slower and confused but our prior excellent server recognized us and said hello and even cleared our plates when we were finished. There must be people that are related to the owner or something and they work there but they are really not doing a great job. Some of the staff does pick up the slack for them though. I'll go back for the great food but they need to work on the hostess.

Seriously this is the only good restaurant in Wareham and the number one place I bring out of town guests! We celebrate most holidays here too. Waitstaff can sometimes be off depending on who you get and it has a crappy hostess that always over books but you go here for the FOOD and DRINKS! OMG the food is spectacular. I love the stuffed artichokes that I seriously could eat every day! The food is always consistent and the beignets with caramel sauce, WOW. I took my mother here for Mother's Day this year and I was sad to see a buffet but it did not disapoint! Everything was so fresh, even home made cream cheeses. The owners are also always present (wife is behind the bar and the chef is in the kitchen). Seriously don't let the crappy service prevent you from visiting. The food is worth it!

Have eaten here 4 times in the past few months and agree with all the other yelpers, its really a hidden jewel. Incredible food, artfully presented and profesionally served. I had the tenderloin carpaccio app with watercress, pecorino romano, capers and a balsamic drizzle. The lamb was oustanding and perfectly cooked. The only negative, although no fault of restaurant was that I picked the same time as a gaggle of teachers having a get together in the function area just adjacent to the bar. So what was a quiet, elegant dinner became a rushed meal to escape the growing clamor of a human henhouse. The martinis are ginormous and helped to deal with the clamour until I could escape.

Ok, you say Wareham has no great restaurants...then you have not been to Ella's. Great food, great atmosphere and probably one of the best wait staff's in Wareham. We took our neighbors and they can be quoted as saying..."pinch me are we still in Wareham?" Give it a try...you will not be disappointed.

Thanks to Yelp, I found this gem during my annual cottage/dog sitting vacation for friends on Swifts Beach. Just like one of the reviewers said, you really do want to keep it a selfish secret but they deserve the kudos and success! I was there twice in one week this summer, and I cannot wait for my next visit. This place will rival most Boston fine dining experiences, except the usual pompous service is replaced with eager to please, knowledgable, friendly, genuine staff. I am not a fan of pizza (issues with digesting cheese) but that's what my cousin wanted for her birthday. We ordered the eggplant parm pizza for take out and I have to tell you...it was awesome! No cheap greasy cheese to give me the rumbles! My cousin is from Boston, and says she's ruined for life now...no one can compete in Beantown! My second visit was with a date who is as much of a foodie as I am. We had an excellent bottle of wine that was reasonably priced (great choices). The menu & specials were varied and interesting enough that we had difficulty deciding. One of everything, please! From soup to nuts, everything was served properly, presented beautifully and DELICIOUS!!!! Now, if only we had an Ella's on the Northshore...

Fantastic service and delicious gourmet pizza. Beautiful warm decor inside...don't be fooled by the boring exterior. Interesting menu and creative specials. But mostly I was blown away by our awesome waitress. My 9 year old daughter ordered chocolate milk, but they didn't have any. Understandable... We were going to just order her water. But the server had heard us talking about our special occasion and she and staff went in the kitchen and melted chocolate to make it special for her! I was so impressed with their thoughtfulness. I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu.

Don't judge a book by its cover is right! Ellas is awesome! This is the kind of place Wareham needs. Honest, Clean, Local Food! The staff and atmosphere, are warm and accomodating. Now if everyone on the other side of the bridge would get in the car and come on down-the love would be shared. Try the shrimp pizza with chorizo and broccoli rabe. The lamb shank is mouthwatering, and Chef Mark's salads, superb!

I am writing this review after going to Rye Tavern in Plymouth with my wife and daughter. I have loved Ella's since the first time we ate there. The last time we went I thought the piece of cod was kind of small. But all other times we have loved Ella's and I wish we had gone this time. I do not mind paying for really good food and service. I DO mind paying more and having a bad meal, like I had at Rye. I will always choose Ella's over Rye or any other place in Plymouth or Wareham going forward.

It was a Thursday evening and I arrived at 6 PM. There were a few tables filled and a couple of people at the bar. I sat at the bar, waiting for my date, and ordered an amazing cocktail special called a Kentucky Mule - bourbon, rhubarb extract, ginger beer? I can't remember all of the ingredients but it was too complicated to make at home and good enough to have two. When my date arrived, we sat a little longer at the bar. It was nice that no one was rushing us to get a table. A weekend may have been different. We finally went to our table and eventually figured out what we wanted. The waitress was very friendly and told us the specials and we joked a bit with her about how much time we were taking. We split the fried broccoli w/ pepperoncini aioli and parmesan. It was crispy but not too heavy and the pepperoncini flavor was perfect - not overwhelming but gave a nice vinegary spice. We also ordered an eggplant pizza to share. It had a charred, chewy crust and the eggplant was crisp and yummy. For dessert, it was a difficult choice so we left it up to the waitress who made an excellent one of the creme brulee. She thought it would be a nice choice since it was light and was her second favorite on the menu. Her first is the Sticky Chocolate Toffee Pudding Cake with sweet potato ice cream, salted toffee sauce. I can understand why! I have to comment on the bathroom as well. It was a private bathroom and had a full length mirror, at least in the women's room. Very nice touch and always appreciated. The rest of the place was nicely decorated and comfortable but nothing unusual. If I lived in the area, I could see going there every couple of months for a relaxing dinner.

I have to say whenever I come home I stop in here. I love coming in here the food is different tasty wonderful you have to try this place. I ordered the steak tonight with fingerling and the Caesar salad is amazing the croutons are out of this world you deserve to come here treat yourself.

We went for lunch on July 3rd. With all of the crazy holiday traffic in the area we were surprised to be the only ones inside for the duration of our visit. As you get closer to the Cape the prices do start to creep up and Ella's is no exception. The wine list was decent and I went with LaCrema Chardonnay. They were out and Simi was the substitute ($11). There were a handful of draft beer selections, but they had also made some substitutions from the menu. We started with the Sicilian meatball appetizer ($10). It consisted of two smaller, tasty meatballs in marinara with one small piece of toasted bread. We ordered a large sausage and roasted red pepper pizza and added ricotta to half ($18). While it wasn't the best pizza I've had, it was good. For the area it is probably very good as I don't think there are any other restaurants that serve brick oven pizza in the area. Service was very good. I'd like to try them again for dinner and get something other than pizza. That may bump it up to 4 stars.

Fabulous meal! Everything we ate was delicious. According to my husband, the wood oven roasted spicy pineapple glazed pork main course was probably the best thing he had EVER eaten. The housemade ricotta gnocchi with truffle corn cream and chanterelle mushrooms was excellent, and the wine list was extensive with many well-priced options. Most noticeable was the excellent service. Our waitress, I believe her name was Gabriella, was a terrific ambassador for the restaurant. She was very friendly, attentive and seemed like she loved the food herself. She made excellent recommendations and made our visit just great. Everyone on the staff was helpful and we enjoyed a wonderful meal.

It was my birthday, I didn't know what restaurant to choose, and after Ella's having been recommended a number of times (and knowing Mom and Dad would pay for dinner), I knew exactly where to go. I had scoped out the menu online, and was extremely excited to try it out, so on a chilly December Thursday evening, my parents and I walked in as newbies. We had made a reservation for 6:30, but probably didn't need it, though it is a rather small dining room, so I imagine they are necessary on a weekend. We looked over the menu, while snaked on warm bread that came served with parsley pesto, hummus, and olive oil and after realizing we couldn't actually order one of everything, I decided to split the meat and cheese board with my father, in retrospect, we should have split it with more than the 2 of us, but oh darn, we had to eat it all ourselves. It came with a spread of 3 cheeses, 3 meats, grilled crostini, pickles, mustard and fig compote, all drizzled in honey. I can't at all remember the names of the meats/cheeses (I should really start writing them down), but they were all wonderful in their own right. For my entree, after much internal dismay, I went for the Veal Milanese, which came served with a fried egg, baby kale, lemon-anchovy dressing, and shaved provolone. In all honesty, I chose it because of the fried egg, anything with an egg is always a win in my book, and thankfully my book was right in this case. It was a perfectly cooked piece of fried veal, that didn't even need any sauce but was complimented wonderfully by the baby kale salad w/ lemon dressing, the sharp cheese cut through the richness of the creamy egg yolk, and it was all served with a side of simply dressed pasta (which unfortunately semi-cold, my ONLY complaint of the entire evening). I saved about a third of the meal for my lunch the next day, when it was just as good. Now I could have skipped dessert, since I was obviously full enough, but I mean, c'mon, it was my birthday. Again, everything looked like a fantastic option, but since my palate has definitely made a switch from craving chocolate to craving something slightly more complex, I went for the meyer lemon custard cake, served atop a red wine blackberry sauce, honey lavender sauce, apricots, and rosemary & pinenut crumble. It was so incredibly creamy, and tart, I could have eaten an entire bowl of just the crumble. Ella's does everything right, from a bottle of cold water constantly refilled on your table, so you never need to flag any one down, to keeping your leftovers aside in the fridge while you finish your meal so you don't need to find space for it. I can't say enough good things about Ella's and can't wait to make it one of my regular celebration restaurants.

Great place! We heard about it through friends. The food is excellent -- the best yet we've found yet in the Wareham area. Although we had a reservation, we decided to sit at the bar. The service was first rate and we loved the food. I had the swordfish and risotto special. My wife had the salmon. Both were amazingly good. They have a large pizza menu, which we did not try, but looked quite good. The wine selection was extensive, with several tempting selections. Overall, we had a great experience there. It is a very busy place, so reservations are highly recommended.

Absolutely fabulous! The bread is wonderful & comes with an assortment of 3 dipping sauces. I had the bruschetta appetizer, and it was different but very good. I had a veggie pizza and it was delicious. Very nice atmosphere too!

PERFECT! Ella's was more than I expected. My family and I used to come to this location when I was younger, at the time it was under different ownership. Back then, it was just a place to get regular topping pizza cooked in the wood fired oven. I believe after that it was just a boring sub shop, but now Ella's is even better than I remember. This area of the "Cape" is full of nothing but clam shacks, and lobster shacks, and all kinds of tourists restaurants. Ella's is a breath of fresh air if you're sick of all the fried seafood. When you're inside you feel like you're in an upscale restaurant in a city. The decor is nice and soft. The smell of the wood burning adds to the charm. The staff there is friendly, from the hostess to the bus boys. Everyone there seems to enjoy working there, and that rubs off. The pizza here is huge, so don't be afraid to split one. It is all gourmet pizza, but they will make a regular cheese if you're with the kids. I love the wood fired oven so much, I don't think I'd order anything but pizza from here, however, the customers around me who did order other dishes were all complementing the staff. Ella's is worth a drive from anywhere to try. It is right by the Cape Cod Canal, so it is a pretty drive out there. If you're staying anywhere by here on a vacation, when you're sick of all the lobster shacks give Ella's a shot.

We were vacationing near Wareham and saw the reviews on yelp that praised this place. Thanks yelpers for the excellent advice! From the bread with three toppings that started the meal to dessert we were deeply impressed with the quallity of the food and service. We ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese and the gyro meat pizza for entrees and were blown away by how great they were. We were full, but figured since everything was so excellent we needed to try a dessert too. We got the tiramisu and it was amazing! It has been a long time since I've had a flawless meal from beginning to end. Ella's is highly recommended.

Pizza is huge. I like it, generally, very well done, but didn't ask; next time will. Caesar Salad was perfect [don't forget to ask for the anchiovies]. Hamburger was ok/good. Good sized glass of wine, ie, not short changed.

I have been through the ringer of tired wareham restaurants with staff that are tired bored overworked and sick of what they do. This creates a bad atmosphere 9 out of ten times but walking into this place gave me renewed hope. These people do it the right way any "Foodie" would love the attention to detail and intentional ingredients. The pizza is out of this world, there is nothing like the smell and flavor of brick oven pizza. Prices were pleasing to the pallet and pocket. If your a local our a repeat tourist I completely understand being reluctant to try a restaurant in this are but Ellas is the real deal!

Here's a great spot that is hidden in plain sight. It's on the Cranberry Highway in Wareham and by the looks of it you wouldn't think it any place special but you'd be wrong. They have put together a wonderful menu and the food is absolutely fantastic. The menu is all good and ranges from brick oven pizza to high end entrees. All very reasonably priced. We arrived at 5p.m. to an empty restaurant. We left an hour plus later and all sixteen tables and the six bar stools were full. The little waiting area was crowded meaning five or six hungry folks. Ella's is just past Lindsey's heading away from the Cape. Ella's opened in 2008 and it took me too long to visit. The place is cozy and comfortable. The menu changes regularly, I think weekly. The breadbasket was excellent which came with three dipping options. All three people in our party greatly enjoyed the meals and appetizers. The app's were fingerling potatoes and calamari. The meals were a large portion of gnocchi, linguini with clams small portion, and wild mushroom agnolotti with asparagus, porcini cream, arugula, grana padano and white truffle small portion. The bill came to $56.88 for three people with tip no drinks. The tables next and across from us had pizza and it looked terrific. We'll return soon.

One thing you do not expect in Wareham with strip malls abounding and water slides "splashing" is a fine restaurant. This place is uniformly very good to excellent (sweet potato clam chowder, followed by duck confit come to mind) and priced right (entrees range from $18 to $26) . The Chef/Owner used to be the Chef at Crane Brook in Carver, now out of business, but was renowned there. And to the name, "Ella, " their daughter, and "there" also means the front of the house, Bree, the chef's wife, who keeps the place inviting (warmth comes also from the wood fired ovens!!). Do NOT be put off by the exterior, we all make mistakes and that would be one if you passed this by because of the "look."

Had a disappointing experience last week on a Wednesday night. Great looking menu, nice atmosphere but a bit loud the young waitress was pleasant. After ordering it, we were told in the middle of the summer that "Striped Bass was out of season"....are you kidding me?? So after taking another quick glance of the menu I ordered the short ribs while the wife had flank steak. She ordered it medium rare, it arrived rare AND cold. We sent it back, the first time, and were told that the chef serves it "One below what you order" and that it was going to put in the warmer. WHY?? My short ribs were lukewarm with that taste of them being reheated lingering. The flavor would have been good the first time around I'm sure. The polenta with corn was piping hot and tasty. My wife's steak returned and again it was cold and raw. We were told that the salsa was making it cold??? Needless to say we sent it back again and were quite displeased. My wife left without eating an entree and I left dissatisfied with my meal. Thankfully we ordered the special ricotta stuffed squash blossoms and a small pizza as appetizers. Pizza was flavorful, but could have been in the brick oven longer as it was a bit doughy in the middle. Fortunately the hostess arrived and apologized profusely for the evening as well as removing the steak and 2 beers from the bill. We will give it one more chance as many friends have told us how good it has been on their repeated visits. There seems to be so much potential but this evening it didn't meet our expectations.

I was told we were going for fantastic pizza; to my surprise I had fantastic pizza and extraordinary entrees. We sampled the scallop pizza, lobster mac n cheese, lobster mashed potatoes, lobster raviolis, and chowder. Each dish was spectacular!
