Not a bad lunch option....food is decent....I like their pad Thai....the curry items are also not bad....the chicken satay is pretty good....

I ordered lunch from work, so I didn't get to check the place out. I love Thai food. Thai fried rice, pineapple fried rice, Siamese twins and drunken noodle are just a few favorites (from Brown Sugar in Boston). I was suggested to try the green curry from here. It was ok. I didn't like the Thai melon and I omitted the eggplant. I wont order it again.

Swung by here on a trip with a school group - came off to a good start. Service was prompt and friendly. Appetizers came fast (we ordered satay), surprising especially when compared to previous experience with large group eating. Bringing food at different times made things a little awkward. While I respect and understand the need to bring food out once made, it was definitely awkward to wait upwards of 10-15 minutes for everyone to have their food. Siam Fried Rice was alright - although disappointingly light on flavor. Nevertheless, was satisfied with it, with the service, and with the ambience. Will definitely come again if I could!

This appears to be a lunch place - and I imagine it's probably quite busy during the midweek lunch rush - but we came on a Saturday night and found it quite empty. That's not a bad thing, in fact we prefer a quieter place so no complaints here. I had the Pad Thai and it was pretty good, not the best I've ever had and certainly not the worst. I would try this place again. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive :)

This was definetely one of the better Thai experiences I have had since coming back from Hawaii. The food all tasted home made, authentic and slowly prepared. I had the coconut ginger chicken soup. Amazing! I paired it with white rice and was satisfied. I then had the mango sticky rice. It was very nicely prepared but I would have like more syrup as it dried out a bit. My old place made it with ice cream and I still haven't found a replacement. The service was good, my friend was annoyed because they sat a large group next to us. But they weren't loud so I wasn't bothered. A lot of things bother her so yeah... she had the shrimp rolls and loved them. If I ever visit the area again I would go back!

Ugh...worst thai food I've had in a while. The flavors here were really lackluster and the portions were too small. We ordered a tofu dish, and the tofu cubes were tiny. There was also a vegetable dish we ordered, where half of the veggies were beansprouts (very much a filler vegetable...) I feel bad because the service was good, and the waitstaff was really nice. But they were clearly cost- conscious with their food/portions, and I would not return.

Came here for a working lunch last week, and boy are they busy during the 12-1 hour. If you're looking for a nice quiet spot for a working lunch this is not the place. It's downright loud, and pretty tightly packed. The food was really great. My colleague and I both left with completely clean plates. I had the orange chicken and she a chicken curry dish. Both were fresh and flavorful and served quite quickly. They really present their food well on the plate too which is nice. The service was friendly. Certainly nothing to complain about there. We also had no wait for a table right in the middle of the lunch rush, which to me is a big deal. Overall, I would definitely come back again soon. Really the only downside is the noise. Great food, good service, give them a try!

This place is very tasty I recommend the pad Thai but I often forget where it is that it exists and how to get there. Four stars.

When I visited The Green Papaya I was very impressed and loved it. However, I never truly appreciated the Green Papaya until I visited other Thai restaurants. The Green Papaya should be a role model for all Thai restaurants- nice, open atmosphere that doesn't crowd its patrons on top of each other to fit in more tables. Very clean restaurant with friendly, knowledgable staff. They have the best Thai Iced Tea that they make themselves (some places use powdered mixes). I highly recommend trying the Iced Tea & Pad Thai.

This is a suburban restaurant that caters primarily to lunch time crowds from local businesses and is not very busy on week nights. Staff is very friendly. Nice decor but nothing special with regards to ambiance. It is their food I absolutely love. I have been getting takeout from Green Papaya about once a week for well over 10 years. Their food is very good, very consistent and prepared so quickly. Even if I place an order for more than 6 dishes it is ready in 10 to 15 minutes. I don't usually place my order till I am in the car and on the way and it is still ready before I arrive. My favorites: Chicken Dumplings - These are perfect dumplings Siam Rolls - Small with just the perfect amount of crunch Satay Chicken - Flat thin pieces of chicken with just the right amount of marinade and sweet peanut sauce Half Moon Pancakes Pik King Shrimp - Shrimp, Green Beans, Pine Nuts, Red Curry and Coconut Milk Tofu Miracle - Tofu Stuffed with Shrimp and Shitake Mushrooms Wild Boar Basil - Thin Pieces of Pork, lots of Basil and peppercorns. Nice heat. This is a suburban Thai food take out gem.

Don't be mislead by the fact that this place is always packed at lunch. After all, its not like the office drones (myself being one of them) in the surrounding area have much of a choice. This place is simply about churning out good enough food for people sick of their office cafeteria. Green Papaya offers a large selection of exciting sounding dishes but fails to deliver on execution. Most dishes come out rather bland or overcooked. The only success I have had is with the mango curry. I have tried numerous other dishes and they have all been disappointing. They won't make things actually spicy - a three star dish has just a hint of kick in it. Even the Tom Yum soup is watery. I would skip it.

Good service, you get your food fast. The food itself is mediocre... At best. I've came here twice and tried quite a few things, not one thing stood out. Pretty bland.

Stopped by here because one reviewer said this was absolutely the best pineapple fried rice. Well it's not the entire dish was bland and lacking any flavor. My entire dish had only 4 pieces of pineapple....what a disappointment! Don't bother with this place

I love Thai food, the place was clean and the service was excellent, the food was passable Thai food it was good and tasted good but wasn't great, the hot sour soup, the pad Thai were tasty and my husband enjoyed his tender duckling he actually finished the whole things.

I absolutely looooove this place. It's my go-to for Thai food. The staff is super friendly and have our order memorized, even when I'm with different people. We get any combination of the following: siam rolls, shrimp in a blanket, chicken and beef satay, shrimp pad thai, red curry, chicken salad, pineapple fried rice, and probably some others I can't recall at the moment. Their peanut sauce and turnip sauce are so delicious, I kind of want to bring a gallon of each home to use on other things. I wonder if that's an option... I've had wonderful experiences both in the restaurant and ordering take-out.

The most disappointing dinner ever. Food was very bland, steamed vegetables very either under or over cooked, chicken had tough parts in it. Do not recommend this place

THIS IS THE BEST THAI FOOD HANDS DOWN!!!!!! I am a Thai food junkie, and I have lived all over the US and eaten at dozens of Thai food places and nothin even compares to this place! My aunt by marriage is from Thai land and she loves this place as well. They have the BEST peanut sauce. They also have great service! Everything here is amazing but a few of my favorites are : chicken satay, beef satay, Siam roll, STICKY RICE, pad Thai of coarse, masala curry is to die for, pheasant wing, coconut soup, chicken salad and they have delicious ice cream! This place is worth the extra drive you will never be disappointed!

Very good Thai food outside of Boston. Very close to my work and get take out quite often. Friendly staff and always willing to please the customer. Fav dish here is KaPowKai! OMG it is great. They say spicy but you can order extra spicy if you like it on the hotter side. Pad Thai is great as well as the papaya hot beef, tamarind pork and tender duckling.

This place is affordable, and high quality. The flavors were good, the only negative I have is the pineapple they use is canned. Service was fast and friendly even though the place was packed! I will be back for lunch.

I have not been to Green Papaya in a while so I decided to order from them last night. I was really impressed with the high quality food. It is a little more pricey than your everyday Chinese or Thai takeout place but you get what you pay for. I have tried: The Pineapple Fried Rice Pad Thai Orange Chicken Sweet & Sour Chicken Vegetable Rolls The takeout was fast and efficient, and everything was fresh. You also don't feel overly full like other take out places since they don't cake everything in a surplus of batter and fry all the food. If you want fresh food, and fast service this is a place to try. Like i said the only slight is that it is a little more expensive but it is worth it for the quality.

Went here for lunch...this place was crazy busy. Sadly, it's not because of the food, I think it's more of a location thing...slim pickins around that area. The dumplings were THE worst texture, very slimy and pasty with no flavor. I think it would be better if they were fried. The spring rolls had okay flavor, but they were over-fried. My co-workers ordered entrees and the portion size was good, but the food looked very ordinary and my friend who is thai said it was not authentic, but I could tell just from looking at it that it wasn't.

I am visiting my son in Framingham and a family member called to tell us she was in Waltham on a business trip. My son works in the area so he recommended we take her to Green Papaya. It was a wonderful choice. The location is convenient and they have off-street parking. The wait staff was attentive and very cordial. They frequently checked on us and kept our water glasses full. We ordered chicken dumplings and vegetable rolls as our appetizer, both were good. For dinner we ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken basil, pine nut chicken and salmon with vegetables. All were delicious. We will definitely visit again.

Service was fine because I was just doing take out. The only reason I am rating it three stars is because I was overall not impressed with the portion of protein in any of the (5) choices of meals my colleagues and I had. The taste of the food was very good. The vegetables were good. The fruit was a little unripened though. It wasn't a bad meal for the price. If you're looking to try a Thai place and unsure of what to order, this may be the place to go and experience different meals to figure out what Thai you will like best at other places.

Great dinner and reasonable price. The steamed dumplings were great. The seafood madness was delicious -the seafood perfectly cooked

Go with the curry. Those dishes are better than their noodle dishes. Good apps too. When I come, I stick to mostly apps (they have all been good) and curry if I am hungry. I should rank it two stars because it took me a few times to figure out what to order but now that I know, I do like their curries more and the Padd Se Ew is okay (if in a pinch). Stick the apps and you'll be satisfied with your meal.

dinner with a friend. no real ambiance, but a great place for quiet dinner conversation. had the chicken satay, green chicken curry, salmon with mango. all very good. curry mildly spicy, just as you'd expect. portion sizes good. prices were great. service attentive, and not pushy.

Food is decent, but the lady behind the counter (short hair, bad English) straight up lied when I asked to verify that my tofu wasn't fried or breaded. I opened the box and it was both. Previous time I picked up food from there the service was great, though. That's why I'm giving two stars instead of one.

There are plenty of Thai restaurants in this area but this one is my fav. I don't know about you, but I like my curry dishes to have some flavor and this place delivers. The ambiance is decent and I've never found it to be loud. The service is pretty good and they have wine and beer options, too, unlike other Thai places in the area. I wish they delivered!

I stopped by here on my way home to pick up some take out. I order shrimp in a basket, chicken pad thai, orange chicken and brown rice. The bill came to a whooping $30.50. The portions where so small!!!!! We were ordering for 3 people and for the price the portions where not sized well at all. The shrimp was greasy, the orange chicken was heavy on the breading and soggy and the pad thai was flavorless and super greasy. Gross! I will NEVER come here again.

Really enjoyed the lunch meal here. They have a nice cozy restaurant with an outdoor area that would probably make a nice dining area outside. We had the lemon chicken($8.25) and the papaya beef ($7.50). The beef was good. The beef itself was lean and had no fatty pieces. It wasn't too tough and the veggies were all great and fresh (cauliflower, peppers, onions, baby corn, and mushrooms). I couldn't really taste the papaya as I'm sure the flavor just gets cooked away but I liked the texture. It seemed like a bamboo shoot when cooked. The sauce itself had a rather mild taste. It was slightly sweet and didn't have enough kick for my taste despite asking for it hot. Nevertheless, I did enjoy my meal and felt the service, decor, and food made for a nice experience.

Green Papaya is an average Thai restaurant that does a brisk lunch business due to the lack of restaurants and large office park in the area. The staff are polite and whisk people in and out with admirable efficiency. The food is average. The Pad Thai can be a bit dry. The Wonton Soup is flavorless. The Chicken Salad is dried out BBQ chicken on lettuce with peanut sauce. I would rate the decor, food and service as uniformly bland.

Had the hot and crazy noodles. Delicious! Came out very spicy just the way Thai food should be. Fast service, great prices, clean restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. Considering there are not many food options in this area, green papaya is definitely recommended.

Who knew that the little Thai place in the strip mall surrounded by office parks would serve up such high quality food? The place is packed with the Dockers and polos crowd from the surrounding Winter Street offices, but the service is good, the kitchen is busy and the menu has all the favorites. I'd strongly recommend it as a lunch option if you don't want to go to Bertucci's or drive down to Moody Street. Waltham workers rejoice!

Reliable offerings and fast lunchtime service. One of the few interesting lunch options in the area. Try the noodle soups or the noodle tender beef dish.

Guess I'll still be on the quest for perfect Thai even after tonight, but this was an interesting stop along the way. Seems like whenever I stay in Waltham, I am either getting back to the hotel late after work or catching dinner with friends closer to the office, so I haven't had the occasion to dine locally before. First, the restaurant has a nice feel to it, open, clean, calm, puts one in the mood for a relaxing meal. Service was excellent, no complaints there, and the menu was expansive enough to offer variety for a number of return visits. Went with the Siam Rolls, the Hot and Sour Shrimp soup and the Papaya Hot Beef washed down with a Diet Coke. The most surprising thing about the Siam roll was that there were six of them; I was expecting only two. But even with six of them and only one of me, I managed to win that battle. They come with a fresh and sweet turnip dipping sauce which is a nice change from the usual plum base you typically receive with these types of orders. The rolls themselves were unremarkable, think of a ground chicken spring roll, but the sauce evened it out. Would probably recommend going with something a little less generic for an appetizer. The soup was good and was really much more like a Tom Yum than the traditional Hot and Sour served as most Asian places. Knew that when I ordered it and was not disappointed. They don't skimp on the shrimp either which is nice and the pieces are entree-worthy, not castaways. So that gets good marks. For the main course , I chose an item with three flames which was supposed to connote a very spicy item. This was a little diss appointing in that while it had some kick, it really didn't deliver the heat I was expecting. What I liked about the dish was the variety of fruits and vegetables and the large pieces of beef that looked like, well, beef! Appear to be taken from a roast and made for a unique presentation. Flavorful and clean, but lacking a bit of that pungent taste I was hoping for. The only Downside to the experience was the lack of free refills (which was not explained) but if that's the worst you can say about a meal, then it had to be pretty good. I'll be back again to try more traditional fare and see what they do with it.

I've been going here on and off for many years, in large part because it's a convenient place for a casual business lunch. I've always found the food to be good to very good. I can't comment on authenticity since I'm no Thai food expert, but I have never had a bad meal here. I love the hot and sour soup with shrimp and their Pad Thai is cooked just right and has ample shrimp and chicken. The Thai iced teas are excellent. Service is always accomodating and pleasant. On my last visit I had the Indonesian BBQ Chicken Fried Rice. It was a huge, tasty portion chock full of Satay-like chicken (sans the peanut sauce). Note that they do get a big lunch crowd. Aside from Bertucci's and The Naked Fish - which are mediocre on a good day - Green Papaya is the only game in this area populated with lots of technology companies and VC firms. IMHO, you can't go wrong here. If you think my review is "useful," "funny" or "cool," I'd appreciate you clicking the button below the review. I'm trying to get on the Elite squad. They haven't noticed me so far. :(

Chicken Cashew Nut is pretty good, flavored well, though they need to cook the chicken more... Atmosphere is incredibly stale, and its essentially a place you goto because you work nearby. Service is quick and friendly... Overall, it gets the job done, but its a ways away from the best Thai in the Boston area.

Not too shabby. It is exactly what I expected, a standard, no frills Thai place in a plaza off the highway in office park central, aka Watheezy. -1 star for not offering summer rolls/nime chow. It is like a gazillion degrees out, can a motherfucker not get a fresh, unfried spring roll? Cotdam! Green curry was good, could use a little more punch and I wasnt overwhelmed by the choice of vegetables Pad thai is a 6/10, not quite flavorful enough but solid texturally. In this part of Waltham, where it is sandwiches or nothing at all, this is a nice change of pace - super quick and nothing on the lunch menu is over $10.

Ended up coming here for lunch after my boyfriend and I couldn't get a seat at Sato. He never eats Thai food but he loved it! I loved it too. Great classic pad thai & spicy basil. The steamed dumplings are AMAZING. Very fast service and not too expensive.

Pretty lousy Thai food. Rubbery Pad Thai with five, frozen, flavorless shrimp. I guess they draw customers from local hotels. No reason to seek them out, though.

Love it. I typically get my thai food spicy enough to sear your face off from 3 ft, and green papaya feeds my love of said thai food. The actual food is typical thai fare, but it comes out fast, the veggies are fresh, and if you ask for it extra, extra, extra, extra spicy. You get it. The thai iced tea is good, and exactly what you'd expect. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be a chore at times, particularly during the prime lunch hours. Current favorites are chicken pad thai, spring rolls, the basil chicken, and wild boar basil. Doesn't have far to go to get to 5 stars.

WORST PLACE EVER We were one of three tables in the restaurant (on a weekend night!) and it took forever to serve our food. Food was awful. Service not good either. My friend was served NUCLEAR NEON PINK CHICKEN. She got food poisoning several hours later. DO NOT GO HERE. EVER.

The best thing about this restaurant is the fast service. I have tasted enough lunches to determine that this is a sub-par Thai restaurant. What I ate here for lunch: -The pad thai is too sweet - plus why just shrimp? where my chicken at? -Indonesian fried rice is a tasteless sopping wet disaster - unlike any other Indonesian fried rice dishes which are like fried rice dishes...dry -wild boar basil was overcooked and underflavored -Noodles tender beef left much to be desired and had a weird gamey smell and taste I didn't eat much of the beef -Ka Paw Kai = kapow outta here bland dish! Its only saving grace is location, there very few restaurants in this area..

A solid four and a half stars. Well, 4.49. No rounding up for you. Sorry. This one's an oddity. Hidden at the end of a stripmall on Winter St. - I passed it by countless times without even noticing it. But then once I was looking for it (thanks Yelp!) I questioned how I could have ever missed that bright green and yellow sign. It has a weird mix of fancy and casual. Atmosphere at lunchtime is zero. It's just full of suits talking loudly to each other. But it's actually quite a pretty interior and is nicely furnished and decorated. Strange. They list almost no vegetarian options on the menu - but seemed quite happy to customize dishes to be vegetarian. I ended up with tofu pad thai. (I'll admit it - I'm a total pad thai whore). It was quite good - but I still think Treetop Thai makes a better pad thai. The noodles were oddly thin. Aren't pad thai noodles supposed to be wide? These were like angel hair thin. Now - things weren't perfect. It took them about 10 minutes to bring out the first dish for our party of about 8. And about 20 minutes to bring out the last. Now, as a properly trained gentleman, I'm not eating till everybody has a dish in front of them. I was among the first served. This meant that I had a plate of sweet smelling pad thai steaming under my nose for 10 minutes while I waited. Really - how hard is it to bring out all dishes at once? I thought this was the first thing they taught in waiter school. But everybody was happy with their food, and entrees are typically under $10. I shall return.

Kinda bland , but i have high standards for Thai. Got the Tom Yum soup as i always do, I like the Idea of having ground chicken and noodles but still just OK. Also tried the Basil Chicken, which is one of my favs because it is usually so flavorful but not so much here. Don't put three chili's next to an item if it does not deliver.

Green Papaya is really really good. Besides the weird parking and location, green papaya delivers solid thai food that won't wow you or disappoint you. Really, I'd like to give it 3.5 stars - the fried tofu is very tasty, crispy and not oily, but not served with strong enough dipping sauce - the pad thai is well seasoned, not too mushy or sweet, with crunch peanuts, but not enough meat - the thai coffee is a little too sweet. But overall, its a good deal for a business lunch in waltham, quick service, solid thai food, but again, nothing to blow you away with.
(3)
Jessica R.
3.5? Been here a few times, fairly decent food. My green curry last time had too much of some vegetables and hardly any of the others, but it was still tasty. Location's a big plus (that neighborhood is a logistical mess, but once you find the place...) Solid. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but it's probably on my way...

I work in Waltham so I eat here often. I've had som-tum, larb kai and tom ka ghai from dozens of Thai restaruants and none are as good as Green Papaya's. The service is fast and friendly but lunch time is always packed. You need to get there before noon to get a table. Parking can also be problematic, especially on Fridays. I've stopped in at night for take-out on my way home from work and the place is much quieter.
(5)
Chuck G.
Service is good. The menu seems to be a mix of thai and chinese or a thai take on chinese. I ordered the chicken satay and the pad thai with chicken. Not spicy is the order default for food here. So I got the very spicy pad thai. The satay was six pieces of thinly sliced chicken. Cooked well and the peanut sauce was decent. The spicy pad thai is pretty good the amount of spice they put on was just right. It seems to be pretty average food but when I am back in the area I would eat here again.

Good food, affordable prices. I usually don't expect too much when eating in Waltham. Parking can be a pain during lunch hours when everyone from work is looking to grab a quick bite. Service was good also. I had the pineapple fried rice. One of my colleagues had the Siam fried rice while another had the Duck Choo Chee. Food was good to get us by.

Many reviewing this place seem to have a problem with the atmosphere. Well, other than Chinatown or other downtown spots, atmosphere in Boston area restaurants generally stinks. So while its not exactly creative here, there is nothing really wrong with it. Now to the stellar items- almost all 5: The service is A-1. You just don't see this kind of service and cordiality anywhere. A great change from the usual I-sort-of-have-to-care-its-my-job that you often get inside 128/95. This being about 200 feet outside of 95, allows service staff to act like they want you to come back. Not like you're bothering them. Now on to the alimentary items. With the exception of their Thai hot and sour soup, everything seems made with care and fresh. Not too sweet or gluey like some Thai places. Warning: I never order Pad Thai in a Thai restaurant... Its sort of like ordering Kung Pao Chicken or Mu Goo Gai Pan in a Chinese place. If you're reviewing a Thai restaurant based on that well, doesn't say much about your sense of SE Asian foods. So I can't tell you about that but, when you compare what's around of any style of cooking in that price range, there isn't much that compares. Food comes out hot and nicely presented and nicely put together flavors-wise. Nice work GP and helpful waitstaff (who actually warned us and asked us if vacuuming was OK on the other side of the room, as it was after closing time.....don't wait to be asked that elsewhere). But. Dear Mr. Green Papaya... work on that Tom Kha Gai or Tom Yum Gai broth recipe and youre done.

I went to Green Papaya right at noon and it was jam packed! I wanted to order take-out and i hadn't called in ahead. Went to the bar to place my order. Less than 5 minutes later, my food was in my hands. I honestly didn't know what to expect since it was done so fast. This is amazing Thai food. The curry was just spicy enough, the beef was tender, vegetables cooked right and the rice was nice and soft. There is one huge downside to this place, it's location. The parking lot is awful! The spaces are tiny and people are parked in the most random places. Also with the bridge construction there, it's a total pain to even get to that side of Winter St. I will be back though, the food is that good.

This quiet, unassuming place produces some terrific food! Each dish is flavorful and they adjust the spiciness as requested. The combinations are creative, delicious and unusual. Every time we go we order some different dish and each time we leave so pleasantly surprised. The helpings are so generous that we always have leftovers for the next day. Even then it tastes wonderful! Try a variety of dishes when you go and you will enjoy each one, really. There are gluten free meals as well, which satisfy those who need it.The staff tend properly yet reserved but answer any or all questions and water glasses filled within seconds of need. This has parking and in a small plaza, so no reason to develop a serious fan base!!

This place has slowly gone down hill. Food sometimes tastes like it was reheated in microwave. Small servings for lunch. Not sure about the dinner servings. Siam rolls are good. Hot and Sour soup is just ok. ( last time it was served luke warm) Always crowded for lunch but that may be because of location and not quality of food.

I go here because it's near my work and quick at lunch. The food's ok. Even the three pepper dishes aren't too spicy.

While visiting Boston recently we stayed in Waltham, arrived to the hotel rather late in the evening, and were looking for a good place nearby to grab a bite. I whipped out my trusty Blackberry, opened the Yelp app, and punched in "Waltham, MA." Out popped Green Papaya with favorable reviews from other Yelpers. Away we went. I know not to poo-poo any restaurant housed in a plain strip mall storefront. Some of my favorites at home are located similarly. So Green Papaya's plain strip mall storefront didn't deter me at all. In fact, when we stepped inside, I almost forgot we were in a strip mall -- they've done a nice job of decorating the place to make you feel like you're in a slightly more upscale setting, and the fact that you can look out the side and back windows over greenery and foliage helps a lot. We were happy with the attentive and quick service, as well as the food which was quite delicious. We tried chicken satay, fried tofu, and spring rolls for an appetizer. They were all accompanied by interesting sauces from sweet and spicy to tangy and peanutty. I was really happy with my shrimp in a clay pot -- a tangle of my favorite cellophane noodles wrapped around crisp vegetables and plump, perfectly cooked shrimp, all swimming in a comforting, tasty broth. My companions really enjoyed the pad thai with the aforementioned shrimp, spicy fried rice with a selection of different meats, and the chicken skewers -- which actually turned out to be quite similar to the chicken satay appetizer. All were well-cooked, flavorful, and generously portioned. We were really happy with our dining experience at Green Papaya. I love traveling with Yelp; we've yet to be disappointed by our fellow Yelpers' recommendations!

My husband and I met for lunch here today, and boy was it crowded! The small restaurant was clean and simply decorated, but during the lunch rush, the tables are packed close together and it's very loud. The food was really good though! We shared a Pad Thai and a plate of Chicken Cashew Nut, and we were stuffed afterwards. The Pad Thai had a really nice sweet flavor, and the Chicken Cashew Nut was loaded with very fresh-tasting vegetables and lots of cashews. I'd definitely go back, but I'd probably get take-out just to avoid the close-quarters dining. The menu is quite extensive and there's several dishes I still want to try. Service was spot on. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly despite how busy it was. Our server kept our drinks filled and had no problem swapping out some ingredients in our dishes. The value is pretty good. Dishes are on average $8, and it's plenty to fill you up. Unfortunately, the plaza that they are in is terrible for parking, and kind of hard to get to. It's very small and cramped and people park willy-nilly, which makes it even more difficult to maneuver through there.

Finally went here after years of working nearby. Food was quite delicious. I got the Papaya Hot Beef. Very Good. Please note i rated this place on food. That said, if you want to see how awful the corporate casual Dilbert-esque scene can be then by all means go here. We went right at lunch and the tables were tight to begin with and this table of Dilberts and Alices called their other Dilbert friend over and the guy stood with his ass in our faces at the end of their table for 10 minutes until their food came to drive him away, then moved to the other side of our table and shouted over us his final mundane business drivel before slouching back to his table in his pleated tan khakis. I need to recover with some whisky and some sleazy bars..

I've eaten lunch here a few times. I don't come back because of the food, or the atmosphere. This happens to be a convenient meeting place and is less noisy than the Bertucci's in the same strip mall. Every meal I've had here has been bland. Really bland. There's not much more to say. The service is efficient, the prices are low ... and the food is bland.

Came here for lunch in a party of six today. My coworkers said that Green Papaya's almost always packed for lunch and parking's tough to find, but for whatever reason, it was pretty empty on a Monday at about noon. The food came very quickly, was presented nicely, and the restaurant is very clean. Recommended dishes include the pad thais and chicken basil. Will definitely go back if I'm in the mood for Thai.

a colleague of mine at work introduced me to this place. Had the green curry duck and it was delicious and creamy and spicy - they didn't skimp on the quality of ingredients (plenty of coconut milk) though I thought the portion of meat and rice were a tad small and had to ask for another small bowl of rice. Noticed someone at a nearby table eating some sort of spicy noodle soup that I may want to try next time. Banana dessert was so-so according to him, as he's had better (of course, he's married to a woman from Thailand so his standards may be pretty high). A solid 3.5, rounding it up to 4 considering I haven't found a better place within driving distance from my work for lunch for Thai. Parking is in a tiny lot for a strip mall so be prepared to either come early or squeeze into a tiny spot somewhere.

Oh is it 2005 again? Oh no, I'm not working at SAP anymore nor do I have to brave the Winter street cluster f*ck every day anymore. I met with my former boss for lunch here today. Very expedient seating. Pleasant enough service. The food was good, but not as good as I remembered. Parking is always a challenge here during lunch time.

Ordered spicy chicken pad thai. Very quickly got bland semi-cold chicken pad thai with an awful lot of peanuts. Last time this place was much better so I'm hoping it isn't going down hill.

I would like to give this place 3&1/2 stars. The food is solid, good Thai food. I'm a big fan of their shrimp curries. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired but I don't really know what I expected from a stripmall Thai place. I prefer the take-out here, especially since it's right off the highway and super convenient.

So I must confess - my new favorite caffeine fix is sweet. I am hooked on Thai Tea and Thai coffee. And Green Papaya has both. I haven't actually tried their Thai coffee yet, because every time I walk in I begin craving the tea. Cold, sweet and orange. I heart you!! So maybe sometime I will stay and have coffee with dessert. Did I mention they have ginger ice cream? Yum! This place is close to work so we usually will stop in for lunch, or I'll order take out. My favorite is the masaman curry, so I haven't even ordered anything else yet. But I will have to try the pad Thai soon. Everyone that works here is really nice and they have fast service. This is a good place to get out of the office for a quick lunch, or just to pick up takeout and Thai tea!!

Functional and value for the dollar pretty much sum this place up. It's tucked away in a little strip mall and caters mostly to the business crowd at lunchtime. I've been a couple of times for lunch and was always happy. Believe the stars rating, 3 really is hot!

Good Thai. Actual restaurant is small and doesn't have much character. Now that I think about it, the location stinks. Theres about 5 restaurants in this complex and thats it...you can't really walkaround after dinner or anything. Anyways, the food is good though...great place for lunch but order ahead.

Delicious, fresh Thai food. Convenient to where I work, though it's rough navigating the crazy parking lot. Huge menu of choices and great prices- I recommend the mango curry with brown rice. Fast and friendly service- because of that, there usually is no wait. One of the better lunch choices in the Waltham area.

This place in a bit of an odd location, so I was very surprised when I liked it so much! My favorite Thai appetizer are always the tofu triangles and Green Papaya's were out of this world! They were so crispy and not greasy at all. The rest of our dinner was fresh and light as well- even a pan fried noodle dish! The portions were large as well and I feel like I got a great value for my money. I'll definitely be returning here.

More choices than most Thai places. Great lunch today.

Great food, nice seating and excellent service. A gem in Waltham. We had chicken satay, steamed dumplings, coconut soup and mango curry. All was tasty, the soup a bit salty than i like. Would easily come back here. Something that was worth mentioning was their fast and very courteous service, fresh food and yum sauces!

This is a place my husband goes with the guys for lunch all of the time. And he comes home and says how great it was so he brought me to try it. It was delicious! The server was great. I had the mango curry and it was so good. Very filling and I had some leftovers to take home as well. He even added extra rice so I would have enough to eat with my meal . I had the Tai Iced tea. I am not sure what is in it but it is great. I was a little hesitant because it is deep orange in color and they add cream or something in it but it was so good I had another. I usually have bad luck with restaurants lately with either the service lacking or the food lacking but I think I found that place that can provide both and that is a rarity for me. So I would recommend them for sure;)

Not bad. They don't serve alcohol on Sunday, but it's BYOB. I wish I had known ahead of time. Food was good. Could probably find a better place in Waltham though.

Fast, great food, nice menu etc but I went again and got this (almost got something else) got like 3 pieces of beef with all the rice and veg (wanted more beef - was hungry after)

Had the kapow kai (gai?)...was very good...I couldn't stop eating it. The only bad point was that the vegetables were cut too large and thus made eating more difficult

Really not worth it. The reviews made this place seem good, but I went and got carry out. Ate it within ten minutes of pick up and it was not good. Simple mistakes like noodles that weren't properly cooked and the seasoning was off. I'm not sure if it was just because I got carry out that the food wasn't great, but I've never had a worse pad thai (and that includes the pad thai that you get in food courts and such).

How could I forget to review this place...Love it all around..conveniently located of the I NineFive.with ample parking..the Green Papaya serves all your Thai favourities with distinct and consistent flavour...I love the clean feel from the fresh name to the white table cloths..and backdrop of wide glass..windows..Really reasonably priced..and service has been pleasantly quick...Some of the best I've had here is the Mango Shrimp....the Massaman Curry...and Steamed dumplings! Beer n Wine only....If this place had a full bar..I'd give it 5 stars :)

One of the best Thai restaurants in the Boston area. Coconut soup is to die for!

The food was nothing spectacular. The people that run the place are very rude. I will never go back. They give handwritten bills and we paid the tip based on the subtotal that didn't include the tax - not such a big deal. We gave a 15% tip on the subtotal amount. Although we should have looked at the bill more clearly, it was very messily written. They could have pointed this out the mistake in a more polite and professional manner. We would've corrected ourselves and paid the tip based on the total. But, the way that the went about the situation was very unprofessional. I've never been treated like this as a customer. They actually shouted at us loudly and told us "That here in America, people pay an 18% tip and told us to go back to our country", when in fact I was born here and they were immigrants themselves. First of all, you pay tip based on the level of service people give you. The tip percentage is up to customers! They cannot demand an 18% tip unless they state it on the menu somewhere that they'll be charging an 18% tip and this is typically the case with large parties. We were a party of 4. This type of treatment deserves not even a penny!

Update June 2011 Sadly, it seems that most restaurants decline. As you can see from my previous review, I found this place consistently excellent 4 years ago. But in the last few visits I've found the food to be consistently unexciting, sometimes reheated, and overall just plan meh. I don't know if it was the recession, or adjusting to the clientele (maybe they're now attracting those who want their exotic food bland). But I don't enjoy going here any more, and can't recommend it.

My wife and I moved from the northwest in March and have yet to find a decent Thai place in Boston. The food here was ok, but very americanized and greasy. If you don't know any better I'm sure you'll love it.

Visiting Boston on some business and not much time to eat on a short work break. Decided to get take out and cruise back to the office. Had a craving for some Pad Thai and google flagged the Green Papaya as local. Called up and 15 minutes later I was enjoying some Pad Thai and Pineapple fried rice with shrimp and chicken. Ended up being way too much food for me to finish in my short time to eat. The Pineapple and shrimp were good. Will look for that here in DC. Take out service was quick and easy and the atmoshpere looked laid back but I didnt stay to check it out.

I have to admit I almost always order the hot and sour shrimp soup and the duck choo chee, but I've also had the pad thai, the satay, and at least one other coconut curry dish that was good. The shrimp soup is great. A friend and colleague from Dublin said it better than I can, so I'll just quote him: "if my mother only made this soup when I was sick, I would have faked being sick a lot" Great for business lunch, or takeout on the way home.

Great Lunchtime venue, always busy but they have always managed to seat me quickly. Good repertoire of Thai food prepared well and quickly. Sometimes main course arrives before you are done with appetizer if you're talking a lot. Good Soups, duck and Wild Boar Basil

Maybe the cook was high, but the pad thai turned out gross. I expected it to be good, because the last time I was there, the scallion pancakes were good. Kind of a small quantity, but the taste was good. Ok back to the pad thai. Shrimp still had entrails - gross. Shrimp still had shells around the tails. Shrimp were very dry and not fresh tasting. There was no chicken whatsoever. I threw out more than half of it. It's quality not quantity that counts people.

I had no idea this place existed for the first two months I was in Waltham even though I was staying just on the other side of the expressway. The restaurant - and the stores it shares a lot with - is tucked behind an entrance ramp about 20 feet lower than the surrounding area. It's a strange spot for a restaurant, but if you can find it, it's worth checking out. Green Papaya is a great middle-of-the-road place for Thai food. I went in the middle of the week and the place was virtually empty and the service reflected that. It would be good for a sit-down meal if you don't have a ton of time. Everything was fresh and just the right amount of spicy. The prices were very reasonable as well.

Green Papaya is your basic neighborhood thai. They are not spectacular, but they always deliver great food with a great service. This is one of my Friday night favorites, a nice place to relax after work with hubby. Nice wine selection. Try the thai white.

As of this writing, I've been here a total of 3 times with all of them during business trips. Twice was by myself and one with a group. On the times that I was by myself, service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The first time, I had chicken with green curry, which was well prepared. The second time, I had pad thai with shrimp, which was a bit overcooked as the noodles were too soft and most of them had fallen apart down to short noodles. The time that I had dinner with a group of colleagues, we each picked a dish and ended up ordering pad thai, beef panang, seafood delight (yikes!), and a salmon mango salad. I wasn't keen on the seafood delight because it's a mish-mash of different seafood and likes most Asian restaurants, is usually composed of leftovers pieces of seafood or meat. But the beef penang and pad thai was well made. The pad thai this time had a good consistency and wasn't overcooked. Atmosphere and decor are ok, not great. Service was very good. Having been here 3 times, I'd consider it a reliable place to go to.

I love the Crazy Noodles here. I order them with chicken and they are very spicy (and not on the menu)... Services is good and fast. Parking is challenging right around noon on weekdays but if you go later it is not a problem.

it's an average Thai place, but considering that I don't really know about many Thai places around this area (even though I went to College at Bentley) - it's still pretty good. The Green is a fun color - weird on their trims and bathrooms (which aren't that nice) but still cool nonetheless. The menu is simple and not too expensive, but I'm not crazy about the food. The service is good, it doesn't seem like this place would get really packed, so whatever. The food is decent. Not that I'm going to shut this place out of my mind for any bad reason, but I've been to so many Thai restaurants and this is not in my top choices to go. Still good though.

Limited options in the area for a casual lunch with colleagues. So why not -- it's a decent Thai meal that's quick and easy.

Subtle things do make a difference in any experience. So I appreciated real flowers on the table and the fact that all of the employees say hello and goodbye. The satay was perfectly cooked and crazy noodles were amazing. I washed the flavors down with a Sam Adams and in the end the price came out very reasonable. Lunch can be tricky only because parking is very challenging as the strip mall has a few restaurants and fills up fast. Check it out and enjoy great Thai in the burbs!

This place is always packed! And for a multitude of good reasons: their food is consistently great, making their prices an even better value, and their service is always friendly. While we typically go for their takeout, we've sat down quite a few times and have yet to be dissapointed. Highly recommended!

Great food, very convenient parking. I feel like it gets unnoticed because it's only visible from one side of the big highway. Basically, it's across the street from the Doubletree Hotel - near the Costco - but it's way on the other side of the highway. I always judge Thai restaurants by their Pad Thai dish. Here, it's phenomenal. Seems that any plate is pretty good though. Go for lunch! It's reasonably priced.

A group of 12 of us ate dinner at Green Papaya on a Saturday evening - the adults were seated at one end of the table, the kids on the other end. We had reservations for 12 and when we arrived, a table was completely set up for us. I was pleased with the quality and quantity of the food served. I shared two dishes with my GF, one which was a standard Pad Thai and the other a slightly spicy vegetable and fish dish in a light sauce. There was one very unique vegetable (fruit?) in the fish dish - it looked like a mini-melon cut into quarters. Never seen this one before. Not sure what type of fish was used - tilapa? But it was cooked properly and complimented the rest of the dish quite well. Service was very good, although probably only 20% of the tables were occupied. I suspect Green Papaya is busy at lunch with all the local businesses, but is much less crowded on weekends. No problems with prices here also. Be aware that Green Papaya is a little difficult to find. It is right off 128 in an area that is undergoing road construction. Overall, very satisfied with the dining experience, and I will definitely return here soon.

I've been going to the Green Papaya regularly for lunch for about 10 years now. It's THE business lunch destination in the Waltham area. I love the food and the service. This place is also great for dinners. I'm a huge fan.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place last saturday night. It was not very busy at all, there were maybe 5 tables total that had people. The food was ok. It was almost flavorless. It wasnt horrible, but I wouldnt say it was the best thai food I've had. Better for lunch, more bang for your buck. Service was great.

Regular for last three years. I think Green P is as good as or better than Brown Sugar. Duck chu chee is excellent as well as seafood curry and Padthai. Fried rice can be little bit greasy but it tends to be in most Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. Price is very reasonable also. Strongly recommended.

I didn't expect much from this place. I was just looking for cheap takeout near my hotel. But what a pleasant surprise! My basil chicken was delicious, with just the right amount of kick and flavor. The portions were HUGE, and the gal taking my order was oh-so-nice.

This place is right aruond the corner from where I work, and it's a great place for a fast and cheap lunch during the work day. I'm a big fan of the Cashew Chicken. I also tried a tasty salmon dish on another visit here, but I forget what it was. All and all, a quick and cost-effective meal that's pretty tasty too.

Great spot for lunch when I worked in Waltham. Excellent beef salad and shrimp/broccoli. If you can navigate the area and find a parking spot then you will have your just reward. I preferred to call it in for take out.

I love this place. When I worked down the street I'd go there at least once or twice per week for lunch. The price is around $6 or $7 bucks and the portions are very generous. The food is very good and tasty...and fresh. I love their pad thai and their pineapple fried rice is amazing. If you work in the area or live in the Waltham, MA area, consider yourself lucky to have this gem in your town!

Came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. Got the Shrimp Pad Thai and it was very tasty- I definately want to go back again. I got there right before the big lunch rush, so I didn't have to worry about the parking, but I did notice that cars were parked along side the road. I would suggest come a few minutes early to get a good parking spot!

Good thai, especially for the area, but not great. I used to go fairly often when I worked nearby. We still go here or take out since we live not far away, but it pales in comparison to the better places in town. I have been pleasantly surprised by a few dishes though, namely their duck green curry and crazy noodles. I love Thai food though so even Thai here is better than going to another restaurant.

I've been to a few other thai places in the are and this one has the best food and service combination of them all. My co-workers and I prefer to take the longer drive to come here than to go to other options because of this reason. The parking lot does suck, I almost get into an accident every time I'm there.

I have been here a handful of times for lunch. Minus one star for the location AND the horrible parking. Rob has it right when he says you have to cross 2 lanes of traffic including the p*s.. It like a game of Frogger. I screwed up twice and couldn't get across the lanes in time and had to go 'round again, sitting at the lights and swearing that I was just going to go home leaving my lunch buddy there...it's actually that frustrating. I guess if you know the area and you visit frequently, you figure it out but I haven't been there in awhile and it sucked getting there. Once you get to the parking lot, it's like geting to Level 2 of frogger, cars blocking the way waiting for a spot (clue: MOVE OVER and let other cars by), cars backing out but nowhere to go due to doofus people who won't move waiting for that spot (picture the mall parking lot at Christmas time), then there's the human pawns holding a parking spot that you almost hit because you don't see them standing there until you are pulling into the spot and are met with the death glare (can't you see I am holding this spot?). Circle round and round and end up down the street. FINALLY, I got to Level 3....lunch. The place was not that busy, we were seated right away. Service was fantastic. Water was refilled constantly. Food was really good. I had steamed dumplings and beef panang(sp?) a very spicy dish that came with a cup of white rice and vegi's. Although the food is good, I would only come here if I had to due to the location. I work with people that like this place and that's how I ended up here.

(2)Alexander T.
(3)Brendon K.
(3)Yoselyn F.
(5)Alison L.
(2)Brian S.
(4)Samuel H.
This place is very tasty I recommend the pad Thai but I often forget where it is that it exists and how to get there. Four stars.
(4)Paolo T.
(5)David T.
(5)Sammy L.
OK place. there are better. I ordered takeout and they wouldn't even provide a folk or napkins
(3)Natasha A.
(2)Shilpa K.
Quick service and tasty food
(4)Chris W.
The Green Papaya is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is very good. I have taken many guests here, and they have enjoyed the food as well.
(5)Talha W.
Good service, you get your food fast. The food itself is mediocre... At best. I've came here twice and tried quite a few things, not one thing stood out. Pretty bland.
(2)Margaret W.
Stopped by here because one reviewer said this was absolutely the best pineapple fried rice. Well it's not the entire dish was bland and lacking any flavor. My entire dish had only 4 pieces of pineapple....what a disappointment! Don't bother with this place
(2)Muna M.
I love Thai food, the place was clean and the service was excellent, the food was passable Thai food it was good and tasted good but wasn't great, the hot sour soup, the pad Thai were tasty and my husband enjoyed his tender duckling he actually finished the whole things.
(4)Ashley K.
(5)Lena And Brian H.

Veggie Fried Rice and Spring Rolls were super tasty!

(4)Nik N.
This place is affordable, and high quality. The flavors were good, the only negative I have is the pineapple they use is canned. Service was fast and friendly even though the place was packed! I will be back for lunch.
(4)Alex C.

(2)Kevin K.
Classy place and environment. Attentive service and food does not disappoint. Reasonable prices.

(3)Louise K.
Great dinner and reasonable price. The steamed dumplings were great. The seafood madness was delicious -the seafood perfectly cooked
(5)Jackie K.
(3)John W.
dinner with a friend. no real ambiance, but a great place for quiet dinner conversation. had the chicken satay, green chicken curry, salmon with mango. all very good. curry mildly spicy, just as you'd expect. portion sizes good. prices were great. service attentive, and not pushy.
(4)Shawn B.
Food is decent, but the lady behind the counter (short hair, bad English) straight up lied when I asked to verify that my tofu wasn't fried or breaded. I opened the box and it was both. Previous time I picked up food from there the service was great, though. That's why I'm giving two stars instead of one.
(2)Emily S.
(4)Gina-Marie M.
(1)David Y.
(4)Jessica B.
(3)Tony C.
Had the hot and crazy noodles. Delicious! Came out very spicy just the way Thai food should be. Fast service, great prices, clean restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. Considering there are not many food options in this area, green papaya is definitely recommended.
(4)John S.
(4)F T.
Reliable offerings and fast lunchtime service. One of the few interesting lunch options in the area. Try the noodle soups or the noodle tender beef dish.
(4)Samia O.
Pad Ped Pla - menu says spicy fish fillet. Me - chocked on a bone. =(

(4)Jason H.
(3)Jonny C.
(3)Lex S.
Ended up coming here for lunch after my boyfriend and I couldn't get a seat at Sato. He never eats Thai food but he loved it! I loved it too. Great classic pad thai & spicy basil. The steamed dumplings are AMAZING. Very fast service and not too expensive.
(5)Brian K.
Pretty lousy Thai food. Rubbery Pad Thai with five, frozen, flavorless shrimp. I guess they draw customers from local hotels. No reason to seek them out, though.
(2)Eric R.
(4)Iris W.
EVER.

First Time Experience at Green Papaya -Found a thin wire in a piece of orange chicken...enough said

(2)Michael N.
(4)Marcella G.
first time there ordered a dinner dish to go beef panang beef was cut coarsely curry sauce was water a few bits of odd looking eggplant a few bits of weird pecans ugh
(2)Craig S.
(3)Jon H.
(3)Jessica R.
(3)Wendy K.
(5)Chuck G.
(3)Bobby C.

(5)Sarah P.
(4)Laura M.
I love their pad thai. I have tried several places in Arlington, which are closer to home, but Green Papaya is worth the drive.
(4)Michael M.
I'm a charter pilot who enjoys thai food all over the USA....This place is one of my favorites! Food is very good, wait staff is great and meals come very promptly. I visit it every time I'm in the bedford MA area.
(4)M B.
(5)Maurice W.
(2)Michael B.
I go here because it's near my work and quick at lunch. The food's ok. Even the three pepper dishes aren't too spicy.
(3)Mac O.
(3)Liz P.
(4)John B.
(4)Barbara B.
(2)Ryan K.
(4)Terry T.
a colleague of mine at work introduced me to this place.
(4)Ken M.
(3)Keith M.
Ordered spicy chicken pad thai. Very quickly got bland semi-cold chicken pad thai with an awful lot of peanuts. Last time this place was much better so I'm hoping it isn't going down hill.
(2)Meghan M.
(3)Alyson G.
(3)David L.
Functional and value for the dollar pretty much sum this place up. It's tucked away in a little strip mall and caters mostly to the business crowd at lunchtime. I've been a couple of times for lunch and was always happy. Believe the stars rating, 3 really is hot!
(3)Nick C.
Good Thai. Actual restaurant is small and doesn't have much character. Now that I think about it, the location stinks. Theres about 5 restaurants in this complex and thats it...you can't really walkaround after dinner or anything. Anyways, the food is good though...great place for lunch but order ahead.
(4)Lucy W.
(4)Jen T.
(5)Kevin G.
More choices than most Thai places. Great lunch today.
(4)Nitin K.
(4)Sarah J.
(5)Ranjit V.
Not bad. They don't serve alcohol on Sunday, but it's BYOB. I wish I had known ahead of time. Food was good. Could probably find a better place in Waltham though.
(3)Jay W.
Fast, great food, nice menu etc but I went again and got this (almost got something else) got like 3 pieces of beef with all the rice and veg (wanted more beef - was hungry after)
(2)Craig H.

Having been here 3 times, I'd consider it a reliable place to go to.

you HAVE to try the Pad Thai..

(5)San Y.

I would suggest come a few minutes early to get a good parking spot!

great food,LUNCH prices were great !!!! I would go again, I had pineapple chicken, My Girlfriend had, Chicken with vegs, all great
