Always my first stop after flying here from the West Coast. Great home cooking (after a peanut feast on the airplane).

Just experienced the worst visit ever. We arrived wife two kids and my mother. Ordered the food and drinks. 25 minutes later the couple who arrived after us are now being served they dinner. And the table next to us are just being seated. Finally the waitress brings the nearly seated table their bread o and she must have remember us because we also finally received our bread. 5 minutes later we are visited by the waitress to inform us that she is sorry for the delay but wanted to let us know they are out of mashed potatoes and gravy. If we wanted them we would have to wait and additional 7-10 minutes. Ahh ok I guess we can change our order. So the food arrives my wife's French fries are not cooked throughly and my daughters sausage is raw and my broccoli is ice cold. Well 50 min into our visit we decided to call it a bust and grab our bill and leave. When the waitress returns she actually had the nuts to blame us for the bad food as we should have said something sooner. Really you should have returned and checked up on us I thought was your job. Will not be returning!

Took an hour to get our table and then an hour for our food. Not a place I would go back to unless you have all day to wait on them

Any place I can get grits in New England is ok with me! I love Cracker Barrel. I love that they serve breakfast all day, I love that you can get grilled catfish with your scrambled eggs and if you want to throw in a side of fired okra, have at it. The biscuits are delicious even without the gravy which I can't eat as a vegetarian and the portions are pretty big. This place can get crowded on weekend mornings so I recommend going for a late lunch when it's still busy but you usually don't have to wait more than 10 minutes. The service can be iffy...the last time we went it was down right awful but every other time I have gone it has been great so I'm not holding that against them. You also have to check out the country store- the cracker barrel will take you back to a simpler more relaxed time!

Easy to find right off the highway- this Cracker Barrel actually gets 4 stars. Classic menu options including breakfast all day. I had the pecan chicken with fruit salad and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Service was fast and friendly. This is a great option when traveling and wanting a change from traditional fast food.

Eh, not a fan. Not going to lie the food is mediocare at best. Everything lacks flavor, and creativity. Its "country" style food with no twist, no frills, nothing special and again no flavor. I just wasnt impressed at all. If i get home style cooked food I want it to have flavor and a special touch. This place just didnt have it. Lacking all around. By all means give it a shot just dont have high hopes.

Good for breakfast. I've never gone here for dinner.. I like the store. The bathrooms need better ventilation. They always stink like every who enters has just had an upset stomach and thus dropped the entire contents of their bowels all at once. Sorry to be gross, but it's true.

OK so maybe it's just me but I'm not really good having so many options. I like options, don't get me wrong, but to give me two menu's and make *me* decide between breakfast and dinner is not fair. So pet peeve aired, I've gotta admit I don't come here often because I know most of the food isn't at all healthy or good for me and mostly because I just can't control myself with those biscuits. I've never had anything bad here but that said I usually stick with breakfast or a basic hamburger. I don't find this location any better or worse than the Londonderry NH location. My only issue was something that happened because I got the meat lovers breakfast since i couldn't decide between sausage and bacon. It came with a lonely single piece of toast. I ordered a "side" of toast (cost : $1.30) and got one more slice for the money. I do enjoy shopping in the store after eating. Often they have items at very reasonable prices. Then other times you look at the price and think, "Are they F*****g kidding?".

I do not object when my daughter wants to go to Crack Barrel ... I mean Cracker Barrel. She is addicted to their Chicken and Dumplings, so much so that we can not really pass one without stopping and partaking. Luckily, there is this location or the one near Providence and they are both too far to go to (phew) so that helps stem her addiction. I like that they give you two choices of sides with my dinner, but I think they really don't have a vegetable choice that is not a starch. Once in NY, I was able to get a salad as the option without being charged extra but this time I did not even ask. This time we went with Yelp friend Frannie and I gotta say, it was fun to watch her order - nuff said! I do like the country store and have even gotten a thing or two from them. This time they had knitted ponchos on sale for a very reasonable price but they were changing registers and I could not wait so, alas, I missed out. The candy and soda (real cane sugar kind) selection is the best.

Dropped in for lunch and ended up opting for a simple 1/2 pound hamburger with steak fries. It was ordered as medium to rare and came to the table as an over cooked hockey puck. Granted, a burger probably was not the right choice at a Cracker Barrel ..... But it's not that hard to make a burger. I'll come back but will stick with their Southern fare. Service was fine, good server and attentive.

I have one word.... BACON No really, BACON! BACON BACON BACON!!!! (Am I one of the dogs from the Beggin Strips Commercial? No, I am not. I am a fan of bacon) If you get nothing else here, get the bacon! I dont know why or what kind of magical pig that they get this bacon from, but it's amazing. I don't live close by to Tewksbury but I make a special drive for one reason and one reason alone, BACON! Haha... The French Toast is pretty good too and I've heard that other food is good as well, although I have never gotten anything but french toast and you guessed it, BACON. You also can't beat the warm little syrups they give you in personal bottles (admit it, you've taken one or two home smuggled in your pants!) and I love the Apple Cider that comes in a frosty mug! It's pretty fun to shop in the store either before or after your meal. They have cute little things for your house or sweet gifts for others. But really, who cares about all of that when there's bacon???

The food and the atmosphere are consistent with any Cracker Barrel I have visited. If the staff had not been had their New England accent I would have thought I was in my native Tennessee. The reason for the 2s stars is the service. I was seated promptly but waited and waited for the waitress (Jane) and my morning coffee, and it was not busy. Jane is a 4-star waitress (the stars on their apron represent their experience and usually the quality of service you receive). I also judge it on my fathers grading scale...the coffee mug should never reach empty...and it did and I had to wait. So the food was good, just what I expected and wanted, (4 stars) the service was inattentive (2 stars) and that is what drove my overall score.

Our server Denise was wonderful. She interacted with my 7 year old son during the ordering and made him part of the process. I thought that was a nice touch that we don't typically see at most restaurants. I have been to many Cracker Barrel's all over the southern US, and this one meets the same standards. The food was great, the portions were large, and the service was wonderful.

The vegetables were gross. They seem to be canned. That's not what I'm looking for at a restaurant. The chicken fried chicken, cole slaw and biscuits were pretty good. The food is just so unhealthy there, that I left feeling gross. I didn't receive my meal exactly as I ordered, but they brought me the correct side relatively quickly. It was gross overcooked canned corn, but it did make it. The waitress was friendly and the manager did stop by to ask how everything was. I didn't complain since my issue with them serving canned vegetables wasn't exactly that they were cooked wrong. I probably won't ever go back there for dinner. People seem to like their breakfast, so I might consider trying that before completely writing them off. We do like their little country store with their old fashion candy, etc.

So my wife and I stopped here to grab something to eat cuz we always drive by there big sign off 495. Not bad food. We grabbed a couple of apps and a dinner plate. Portions are ok. Service is a little poor. We do wanna try there breakfast. They have a great gift shop. Definatly has that homey feel when you walk in. Even if you dont get something to eat check this place out for great stocking stuffers and toys.

I've been to a couple locations, and the chain is pretty consistent. I've tried some of the breakfast stuff, several variations of fried chicken, the chicken fried steak, and some of the potatoes. Really, I come here because they have fried okra, which I miss terribly (I'm from Texas) and for the most part they do it right. Everything else, the prices are reasonable and the food is inoffensive.

This Cracker Barrel holds up pretty well for being a southern restaurant. (really a southern institution is more like it - there were at least a dozen of them in Knoxville, TN when I lived there) Its not easy to pull off southern in New England. Everytime I've been there the food has always been good and hot and the wait staff has always been friendly. Breakfast is never over $20 for two of us and the hashbrown casserole is definitely one of a kind. The food is heavy and does sit in your stomach pretty heavy so be forewarned. I also love buying Yankee Candle car freshners after my breakfast when I go to pay the bill!

Came here with a group of 8 people. Not only did the waitress have no idea who got which food item, she brought out all the items one bit at a time and had no idea who's it was. "Here's some bacon," "Ok now here's a biscuit," "Ok who had this egg?" I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and hash browns. The scrambled eggs were not scrambled. It was simply a flat omelet and didn't taste good. The hash browns were more like a bowl of cheese with some potatoes mixed in and was totally inedible. I asked the waitress if I could have hash browns without cheese and she refused. The bacon was great and so were the biscuits and gravy, but unfortunately the rest of it, and the service was so bad, that I give this place my lowest rating. Avoid at all costs. It's not worth the 30 minute wait and having to listen to country music.

Me and my husband have gone here a few times for breakfast and we love it! Word to the wise...get there early on the weekends! This place fills to the max during prime breakfast times. The decor of cracker barrel is old general store with an actual general like store that you must walk through before getting seated and when walking out. There are always a lot of families here and the atmosphere actually reminds me of disney world: Families, themed, and you must walk through the gift shop when you leave. However being a fan of disney I dont mind this at all. Also, they have a few small tables inside the store and outside the store where you can play checkers and every dining table has a peg game you can play while you wait for your meal. Its a nice little touch. The food is really good! It always taste fresh and homemade. The menu has a southern feel to it with items such as grits, and country fried steak. I have ordered the wholesome morning sampler and I have also ordered the whole wheat pancakes with 100% pure maple syrup, all very delicious! Also the coffee is amazing! It always tastes fantastic and the waitstaff always come around regularly to fill up your cup. I highly recommend giving this place a shot...but remember...arrive early!

No down home Southern Hospitality here. We walked into an empty restaurant at 7am expecting to be seated right away but the hostess ignored us while talking with another staff member. No greeting. Just a "Follow me..." The server actually was even colder than the hostess. Not sure what was going on in the restaurant that day but these gals woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I ordered the pancakes and there was a 6 inch hair from one side of my plate to the next right into the butter dish. I don't think I need to say anymore. We have eaten at Cracker Barrels and this was BY FAR the worst dining experience to date.

I have no choice; I have to five-star this place. Every time I travel back to MA to visit my family, I find myself compelled to eat here. My boyfriend is obsessed with the food and the general vibe of this old-time chain of restaurants. They are always near a highway, they are strange, and the people who work there have "seen some things". Biscuits and honey are a staple of any order I make here. If you didn't know, they serve breakfast all day. Don't forget to ask for, and steal, as much maple syrup as you can manage.

The eggs, well the eggs were a lie... A total and gross lie. Whoever writes the descriptions for the breakfast items should be fired. There, I feel better. Actually, I have no idea why we went to Cracker Barrel. I mean, it's not like you expect really good food there. I think we were really hungry, and we had good memories of visiting them en route to Florida several years ago. Uh, I won't go again though. My food was awful. I arrived around 11, and wanted a lunch item, but they were only serving breakfast. Bleh. So I picked something simple: eggs over easy with sour dough toast. What I received was eggs (no runny yoke) basically fried into the center of the bread. Umm... yuck? My boyfriend convinced them to make him a luncheon special and that looked, smelled, and tasted a lot better. I don't know- my thought is that if I want a nice runny egg to dip my toast in then that's what I expect. Prices were fine. The service was fine. My issue is with the menu. Write up correct descriptions of what you're offering. Also, please have lunch items starting at 11 am. Just a little request. The store area was hilarious. Full of Halloween food and costumes. They played the greatest song though: Dolly Parton has done a cover of She Drives Me Crazy by the Fine Young Cannibals. I'm not a country music lover (or liker- I actually hate it as a general rule) but that song was great. You could also pick up a USO teddy bear that sounded like Bush singing about our great country. Strange items to see in Massachusetts. My final thought is- don't go. Please don't. But if you do go, just check out the campy items in the store. That's worth the trip. Not the food and certainly not the menu!

I have no good explanation as to why I love Cracker Barrel. It could be the fact that I always eat a good meal there, or because I get all my quilts there. It may have to do with the fact that I can totally order a whole meal of sides, those sides including mac and cheese, dumplins, corn, fried okra, and hashbrown casserole. Or it could do with the fact that they have DVDs marked down and they're so bad they're good - like Coach Season 1. Which I obviously bought. Can anyone explain Cracker Barrel? I mean, seriously? Sometimes I see people in there who simply play the little games they have on the tables. And they play for hours. And sometimes I see people pull up in their cars, get out, and sit on the rocking chairs for a long time. Then they go back to their cars and drive away. Personally, I love the fact that I have the option of buying one of those rocking chairs. One day I will totally do it.

Well in boston on business, walked across the street to get some eats, i got an open face roast beef sandwich, came with 3 slices of bread, one slice had the single roast beef slice and not enough gravey to cover it with two dry bread slices on either side and dry mashed potatoes. Asked for more gravey. food was served barely luke warm, coke was flat. good news i won t be walking to cracker barrell for dinner again in the next 4 days, when i complained i was offered free dessert.yea. Good food good service its not that hard people!! JOe

Do I like the taste of the country!? I sure do! Coming here only made me WISH that Vermont had one of these back home. Being Vermont...They should! Simple as that. As far as a food chain you cant go wrong with it! Its cheap and its an easy in and out. Customer service has always been good here. Servers are quick to take your drink order then your food order shortly there after! One thing I have always noticed about this chain is the fact that 90% of the staff are older folk. Now that's not a bad thing just something that I noticed! (I have gone to many other locations near the Boston area.) One thing that I can recommend is the grilled chicken sandwich! They sauce here is just amazing. Then top it off with some lettuce, tomatoes, onion and pickles then you got your self a perfect blend of flavor! With that you can also pick up 2 more sides of your choice! The Cracker Barrel leaves nothing to be desired. It delivers on all fronts for their style of food! After your done washing your food down and starting to feel full just walk it off in their country store. They offer many little souvenirs! Even just looking around is worth the visit!

Just went here with my wife for dinner with a gift card using all of it but 12 cents and enjoyed it. It is very hearty comfort food. I got the chicken fried chicken and the sawmill gravy they put on it was delicious as was the chicken and the sides. The A/C was still on at dinner time and it had cooled down outside a lot but it wasn't too cold as we ate. Very close access to the highway. I saw multiple things on the menu I would like to try so a return visit is a must!

This has been or breakfast spot for years. Recently on a Sunday afternoon we went for a late breakfast. Barbi was our waitress and she did a really good job. The only complaint that I have is the my Apple Bran Muffin was as hard as a rock. They should not service food like that. I understand I ordered it after the normal breakfast time but they serve breakfast all day long. They just have to make sure their food is fresh before they bring it to the tables.

Breakfast sampler was good and eggs were cooked as I asked, but my wife's grilled chicken was average at best. The kids ordered fried chicken tenderloin kid's meals, but what they got were little chicken bricks. The server was slow and lacked knowledge, but was polite and had a smile. I don't expect that our family will return to this restaurant any time soon.

I generally like Cracker Barrel and usually go for breakfast. My boyfriend and I were on our way back from New Hampshire and decided to stop here for lunch. We did not have to wait and were seated right away, however the hostess seemed pretty confused and directed us to a couple different tables before she asked us if we were two people, something we already told her twice already. Our waitress was not very friendly right off the bat. She looked at me like I had 5 heads when I ordered lemonade for my boyfriend and I (he was in the bathroom at the time). Our food came out in 10 minutes, and it made me a little uneasy. My boyfriend got the chicken and dressing, with turnip greens. He said it was pretty good. I got the chicken and dumplings which were okay. The corn and green beans definitely came from a can which was disappointing. Almost all of the waitresses looked miserable, one of them kept giving me a dirty look even though I did absolutely nothing wrong. It was pretty uncomfortable. The total only came to $18 and change. I do love the store though, all kinds of games and candy. This restaurant was poorly organized and the waitresses are miserable. A little staff change might not be a bad idea.

Though slammed by 3 tour buses, this place served hot and fresh food with the high quality one expects from CB. Service was a little lacking (slow drinks, bread, and food) but I think it may have been due to the rush of the tour size. Impressively, they did not run out of anything while we were there, so for that preparation I give them lots of credit!

Do you like breakfast? Do you like to shop? Do you like fire places? If you answered yes to all 3 questions then head on down to Cracker Barrel. The bacon is amazing. A-mazing they are real and thick. The grits are ok; they don't put butter or enough butter in them. The pancakes omg to die for. I love pecan pancakes so I can't tell you about the other pancakes going on there. The store has tons of cute things and candy. The bathrooms are clean and offer lotion scented or unscented. The staff was great. I like to order from the menu but I don't like gravy on my biscuits or hash browns/home fries so I try to omit it entirely from my order. Most people will have you tell them what you want and they will make it work for you. I have never run into a waiter or waitress who did not allow me to do this. All in all. They need to open one in Boston or somewhere along the orange line so I and everyone can experience this place on a daily basis.

I hate it when breakfast places cook bacon so it's like cardboard or dont understand eggs scrambled well means that they shouldn't be a lazy version of over easy. Then again I've had worse so I'm not going all the way up to Tewksbury for breakfast but I could be talked into going back if I'm within a ten minute radius and want pancakes at the given time.

We go here for the chicken and dumplings - talk about a filling meal! They also do a pretty good country fried steak, though it was a little too peppery for my tastes. You can even get catfish here (fried of course, or grilled). Service is hit-or-miss. I don't like having to walk through the somewhat tacky country store just to get to the restaurant. Also, you pay for your meal at the country store cash register (not at your table). Not really a fan of that either. Cracker Barrel offers good southern fare, generous portions, at a relatively cheap price. Plus, where else can you play the Peg Game while wondering if anyone actually buys those $150 wooden rockers on the porch?

I've passed this Cracker Barrel location many many times being from the Lowell area, and I've always wanted to try it out which I finally did. My fiance and I dropped by on a Thursday night, fairly late in the night for dinner (9 PM). It was pretty much empty. A waitress said we could seat ourselves in the middle section, which I thought was odd because another waitress seated some other people. I guess it was just late. Anyways, there's alot to choose from for food from daily specials to dinner platters to breakfast food at 9 at night (Beat that IHop). A very southern/rustic menu that looked great to me. I ordered the catfish platter and my fiance got the beef stew. I liked my catfish alot and the beef stew was OK, kind of bland. The atmosphere was very rustic/south as well, and the music helped get that across (old country as well as some "older" pop songs) Overall for the two of us it was only $20, which for us is really good. Service was great, food (at least my plate) was delicious, and the price is perfect for the portions and for the excellent quality that you get. Located right off 495 in the Tewksbury portion of 133 it's easy to get to! I definitely recommend. Also if you like shopping check out their shop. Some cool stuff/toys and candy!!!

My husband and I have been here twice in the past 2 months and it has been good both times. The first time we went late on a weeknight (after 9pm). I had the chicken fried steak meal, and he had the chicken and dumplings. The food was tasty, good sized portions, and got to the table fast. The second time we went for lunch and got one of the daily specials (turkey and dressing). Again, we had fast service. I was impressed with both visits! Good amount and quality of food for the price.

Wow... their breakfast is AMAZING. There is always a bit of a wait to be seated, but it is worth it. The staff is friendly and always helpful. The kids had fun looking through their store. If you go, try the apple butter. Have been back several times. This is our new favorite place for breakfast!

Inside, a bendable, poseable replica of the Greatest American Hero. Instant five stars. Fuck the food. Actually. Don't fuck the food. Eat it. For a chain, it's some of the best. Down South, you can't throw an inbred banjo player without hitting a Cracker Barrel. They dot the highways more than roadkill, offering the hottest, fastest country cooking ever produced in a stainless steel commercial kitchen. Half doodad, knickknack Old Tyme Candy Shoppe/half restaurant, the Crack Bar (as it reads on the driver's side loading door of their tractor trailers) has endured, nay FLOURISHED in the wake of brutal cutthroat robberies (true) and lawsuits against their racist hiring practices (very true.) And in the two years I've been up nawth, today was the first time I came across their familiar all-day breakfast menu. Literally. Standards are a check: Rocking chairs out front, one or two over-sized checker boards with unfinished games on indefinite pause, cheese and fudge by the pound, cinnamon brooms, thimbles, Mallomars and Moon pies (What's the diff? Everything,) audio books to buy or "rent," waitresses wearing aprons embroidered with their names and a mysterious star rating, yo-yo's and penny stick candies, all serenaded by classic country or folk muzak while-u-wait. We're talking clown funerals, mime domestic abuse, puppies humping kids' legs - this is true grotesque fascination. And the elderly? They come in legions, taking advantage of the insane senior citizen discount. It's gotta be like 90%. Or maybe CB pays them to eat the same brown sugar ham, potato casserole and grits plate they've been eating every Tuesday afternoon for the past million years. No coincidence the best breakfast ensemble bears the Old Timer name. In absolute honesty, the food is abundant and dirt cheap. Cajun catfish, okra, sweet corn and mac n' cheese - $9. Every part of the pig, cheese eggs, unlimited corn muffins - $6. Coca Cola Chocolate Fudge Cake - $4. Jump the Peg game at every table, calling you EGG-NO-RA-MOOSE following your inevitable failure - priceless. I love, have loved and will continue to love the Cracker Barrel until I can't remember my name and why my pants smell like piss. And why my pants smell like piss. Why is seventeen pogo stick Matlock? -sits alone at a table for four, playing with Popeye-

I went here with 5 male friends after a large event in boston. We all made our orders and a lovely young women was serving us. She brought out our orders and two dishes of mac and cheese were not brought out as they were out she expressed. My friends were not impressed I ate my meal with my side salid and it was good. Another friend bought a breakfast item. Asked 20 minutes in that all he got was an egg? #comical She had not brought out his side items. My friend told her it was my Birthday so i was brought a piece of cake. I liked this place but my friends were harsher critic's I dont think the waitress was having a great day or on top of her game that day!

I like the concept of Cracker Barrel, and the food is decent, but our waitress was AWFUL. Not only did she keep confusing our food, but she kept poking me in the back to get my attention. She was lucky she stopped because had she done it just one more time things would have gotten ugly. Please don't touch your customers, and if you must, please don't jab your finger into their shoulder blades.

Cracker Barrel is NOT just for old people! It is kind of eerie, though, that every single location is completely identical. That said, Cracker Barrel offers a hearty meal, whether it's a heaping plate of Maine blueberry pancakes or their tasty house special of Chicken and Rice. It's tough to differentiate the Cracker Barrel experience from location to location -- I've been to them in Connecticut, Alabama, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, I think. I'm often reminded by friends, since I've always had impeccable service and the food is always consistently good. If you're avoiding this place, or you're going to IHOP instead (nothing wrong with that for those late night cravings), give it a chance. You might be surprised.

I like this place because you know what to expect when you go there. Pretty just okay comfort food at a cheap price. I like the roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes and biscuits. I always know what to expect because it's all pre made haha. I also really like the little country store out front, it makes for something to do while you wait or after dinner.

Great breakfast all day long, pretty good southern fare. The have the best ocra pickles for sale in the country store! It's a fun place to visit. The food isn't bad. The store has a surprising variety for a fairly small area. You can find candies and treats from childhood that you don't see much anymore. It's worth a visit.

i love this place. the staff is awesome. the food is good, served in huge huge portions, and i love that when they know there will be a crowd with a significant wait like this past mother's day they have drawings, games for the kids, and free samples to keep everyone happy and entertained!

Having experienced Cracker Barrel in the South, I was in no particular hurry to experience Cracker Barrel when they started opening up restaurants in the North. But after years of seeing the Cracker Barrel sign along I-495 in Tewksbury, I finally decided to give it a try. For the next hour, I felt like I was back in South Carolina or Tennessee as the restaurant is an exact replica of what you have down South, right down to the $130 rocking chairs featured on the "front porch." You also had to navigate the ticky-tacky gift shop on the way into the restaurant with its overpriced knick-knacks. As we approached the hostess, she snarled at us to get against the wall as evidently there was a line to get in and she saw us as trying to cut the line. So we waited a few minutes to be brought to our table while country music was piped over the loudspeakers. The place was absolutely slammed as this was a Sunday and evidently the place to go after church. We were handed two worn-out menus, one for lunch and one for breakfast which evidently is served all day long. Table was dirty and we had to wait while they came to clean it. Also, there was a $5 bill sitting on the table which was apparently a tip from the last diners. We tried to hand it to the waitress who came to take our order but she inexplicably denied it. So we put the $5 bill back by the ketchup bottle. Waitress asked us if we wanted anything to drink and I asked her what beers they had on draft. She gave me a look like I just asked permission to date her 13-year-old daughter. No alcohol is served at the Cracker Barrel. Since they served breakfast anytime, I went with the breakfast with a cup of coffee, but it must have been breakfast from the Great Depression because it was pretty bland. Seasoning and spices do not appear to be part of the recipe at Cracker Barrel as even my wife's pot roast was as bland and flavorless as can be. Still, I must admit the food was edible and in generous portions. Also, they served real butter with their biscuits as opposed to margarine so they get kudos for that as well. When I got the check, I was pleasantly surprised as the final tally was just under $20! The last time my wife and I went out to eat for less than $20 was probably back in 1986. As a bonus, we were able to recycle the $5 tip that the waitress didn't take from the last diners. So the generous portions along with the low cost prevented me from giving this tourist trap just one star. Also, there were no pretentious yuppies in this place. Just a bunch of older people (average age had to be over 70) having a quiet, bland meal at a reasonable price. Just have the discipline to walk through the gift shop without buying anything and you will be hard-pressed to find a sit-down meal cheaper (and blander) than at the Cracker Barrel.

Love this place. Portions could be a little bigger. Everything else spot on.

Great for a comforting, filling breakfast but they are always very busy at this location on the weekends due to being so close to the highway. I think they get a lot of church crowds. I would recommend it for the food but have a second option in mind if they are wicked busy and you are starving! Wait staff is always very friendly too and that's a plus!

4 Stars. Now, let me tell you about my 1st visit here and why I'm giving it 4 stars...as my breakfast was half good , yet half 'meh'. First off, this place can move the masses...tons of rocking chairs are out front, for sale of course, but mostly for the wait. This morning, the parking lot was full, but my buddy and I didn't wait long to get seated. You don't get modern day pagers, but there is an intrusive intercom system that reminds you of K-Mart, while ol' time songs about being a Ramblin' Man play obnoxiously in your ear through the speaker system setup outside. Of course, when you walk through the front door, you have to endure the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd that's mulling about in the Country Store. From candles, to knick-knacks, to artsy-fartsy, dafty-crafty creations of all sorts, you'll eventually make it to the front to put your name in...or to finally get into the dining room. (Yeah, I don't know what dafty-crafty means, just keep moving). So this place serves breakfast everyday all day. Yum. My fave meal...breakfast. The menu has lots to offer...country gravy is everywhere...everything comes with biscuits...and you can get egg scrambles, or pancakes, or chicken fried steak, even a few low-carb options...which really this place should be called Barrel O' Carbs, so it's funny to see a comfort food mecca cater to the health aware... Anywho...I settled in for Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast. Or something like that. Tons of food for around $7.50. It's two eggs, which I got over-medium, country fried chicken (or steak, I chose chicken this AM), two buttermilk biscuits, butter, jam, apple butter and fried apples or hashbrown casserole...and grits. Yup. Grits. As in Flo from Alice: "Kiss my Grits"... (wonder how many people are wondering what the eff 'Flo from Alice' means). In case you're not wondering about Flo from Alice, but you ARE wondering what a Grit is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr… ...and there ya go. Yeah, sorry rednecks...nah-so-good. I have no idea where these would measure on the grit scale as this was my 1st time with 'em. Topped that off with coffee and their Valencia-Orange Orange Juice. Very sweet...and pulpy...which I dig...I asked for a cup of ice on the side too...cuz I love chilly orange juice. So... - Eggs...cooked perfect - Chicken Fried Chicken and Country Gravy...I was expecting a juicy, thick, hand-breaded, just deep-fried sensation. Well...not quite what I got, but it was decent with the gravy. The gravy itself I thought was going to be heaven on the taste buds, but it was just ok. - Hashbrown Casserole: This was...hmm...I guess if you took some scalloped potatoes and shredded 'em up with a few onions, voila...hashbrown casserole. It sounds better than it is tho. Regretfully, after my meal, I spied with my eye some plain hash browns on a woman's plate nearby. Oh yes, the wonderful, crispy goodness of shredded potatoes. Didn't see that choice on the menu, but that lady knew something I did not. Next time...they will be mine. - Grits: Covered that. - Biscuits. If you come to Cracker Barrel for but one reason, may it be to grab a plateful of buttermilk biscuits. These aren't those jank ones you get at McDonalds...these are flaky, buttery, melt-in-yo-noisehole, delicious...in fact, both my buddy and I were VERY conflicted on how to eat the two biscuits... Do we sop up the egg yolks with them? Spread a little butter and down 'em as is? Throw a little of the grape or strawberry jam on top of that? Spread some of that Country Gravy over them? How 'bout the Apple Butter? Ever have Apple Butter? Oh, it's good. You get the picture..the biscuits alone push me into a 4 star rating. I will definitely give this place another visit... See ya there!

Moon pies. Jawbreakers. Pop guns. Travel bingo. Paper dolls. It's the Cracker Barrel Country store & restaurant! I know Yelpers are food snobs but I have to put Cracker Barrel in a more positive light for their nuances. You definitely go here for the atmosphere, not for the quality of food. It's really fun to run in the country store and check out all the old school candy and toys you used to have. I had to wait fifteen minutes to get my table. I ended up ordering the chicken & dumplings platter, with carrots, hash brown casserole, and fried apples. My meal also came with a biscuit and cornbread. Kinda reminded me of Claim Jumper's. But think along the lines of a Denny's. Most of the ingredients used in their dishes are from canned sources so you must know, but it is a lot of food. The menu itself is pretty entertaining as it's just old-time American classics. Meatloaf, cheeseburgers, apple crumble, country fried steak. Fun little corner of Americana that is best saved when you have a hankering for it.

I have been to this location Cracker Barrel a few times before, but this last time was enough to make me never go back. Although I might return for a stroll through the adorable yet overpriced country store, I will NEVER eat here again. The hostess area was full of confusion. We were seated at a dirty utensil-less table. Conveniently next to a shameless breastfeeding mother (not to mention the child was of walking age). I know that its the mothers right to breastfeed in public but this just goes to show the crowd this place gathers. The corn bread was as hard as a rock, and we had to ask for our utensils multiple times. The waitress was very confused and flustered. She was sending multiple other servers over to tend to our table. The worst part came after the food arrived. Not to mention we waited an hour and twenty minutes for our food. The waitress claimed it was taking so long because of the fried chicken. When we finally got our food, the fried chicken was extremely cold. The manager on duty was eying our table and walked over to ask if everything was okay. She actually offered to "ZAP" the cold entrees. By zap I would assume microwave. It was disturbing. I understand the laid back low class atmosphere, but they really need to get themselves together.

I've been to MANY CB's all over the country thru the past several years, and the Tewksbury location is really one of the better ones. Service & food is pretty consistent, although inevitably you're going to run into an occasional "trainee." It's the nature of their business. Have a little patience, relax with your coffee & give 'em a chance. At least that newbie is trying to earn a living instead of letting taxpayers support 'em! Having said that, I go to CB's because I lived down South for about 20 years and miss country cooking. Breakfasts are typical Southern fare and always a good bet, but I also enjoy the comfort foods like chicken & dumplings and roast beef. My MAIN reason for going at dinner time is to get some much loved veggies. I often opt to just have a vegetable plate. Love their fried okra. Kudos to them for keeping the temperature in the restaurant at a comfortable setting and for keeping the restrooms clean! Not always the case with most Cracker Barrels I've been to.

I had the Country Dinner at this Cracker Barrel and it wasn't bad. For my $7.19, I think I got my money's worth. I had the roast barbecue pulled pork and my only complaint is that it would have been better as a sandwich, instead of a platter. My sides of steak fries and macaroni and cheese were good, though the mac and cheese could use a little doctoring up - maybe some pepper would help. Dessert was the chocolate cobbler, which translates to a brownie with a dollop of ice cream and a stingy amount of hot fudge sauce and a couple of pecans. In all, it was a good meal for a good price. And where else can you eat surrounded by old timey decorations and a "general store" where Christmas is always in season? i do wish I had a porch, though. Those Adirondack rocking chairs look so comfy! PS -- The best Cracker Barrell is the one outside of Atlantic City!

I like the country cooking and the store. The hashbrown casserole is my favorite. I love that you can get breakfast all day. Their sourdough bread makes the best french toast.

Rude and inattentive wait staff. Every - yes, every - order was wrong in some way. Food was awful. 90% of customers are morbidly obese.

Let me start off by saying that I love Cracker Barrel in general. I have been to numerous ones up and down the east coast since I was a kid and the food is always delicious. The three stars are definitely for the great food for cheap prices, especially the hashbrown casserole at breakfast. But note that the food is very greasy; more of the comfort fattening foods, although they have some healthier substitutions. Always be prepared to wait at least 20-30 minutes at breakfast time before they call your name. However, this Cracker Barrel has some weird management policy that I have never experienced before and its the most ridiculous policy I have ever seen. When they call your name, they take you in the dining room BUT they didnt actually call you because your table is ready....they called you so that you can stand in the front of the restaurant and wait another 5 minutes watching everyone else eat and the servers trying to walk around you, as you wait for someone to actually finish, leave, and then have their table cleared and cleaned. It is the most uncomfortable feeling because you are just looking around hoping that someone gets up soon, and then you start eyeing people who look like they are done, hoping that your impatient look persuades them to leave quicker. The servers are friendly but very slow. Between the slow service and the second period of waiting in the front of the restaurant, I have to take away two stars. I really hope management changes that absurd policy and I dont think I will go back unless they do.

Best breakfast I've had in at least 5 years! I like southern food. We went for breakfast on Sunday 2/26/12. The special was Sweet Potato Pancakes with eggs and choice of bacon or sausage. If you ever have the opportunity to order SWEET POTATO PANCAKES, jump on it! I know the bacon is phenomenal, but I chose the sausage so my toddler could try it. They created some cinnamon sugar butter mix and put a nice scoop of it over the pancakes which BLEW my mind. I only wanted to eat one, but could not control myself. I shared a few bites with the table and polished off the rest. My man got the country fried steak which comes with eggs, hash casserole and "gravy" which is actually the consistency of stiff mashed potatoes. They brought lovely biscuits. We shared the plates and I came away completely satiated. The service was VERY attentive. They were very patient with our toddler and the coffee was endless. As I expected, they don't make grits like I do (almost no restaurant will - even in the South). The fireplace and decor make me feel warm and cozy. SKIP: You can take a taste, but don't actually eat the "gravy". Warning: to enter the restaurant, you walk through the gift shop which is very tempting and has lots of things at a kid's level, so move quickly or be prepared to deal with begging.

I think the Cracker Barrel is highly overrated. Most of the people that eat here come off the highway. I, like others I know in Tewksbury, haven't eaten here for years. The food here is nothing great in my opinion. A lot of the stuff has a "down South" type flare. But this menu gets old after one or two visits. The service has been poor on several visits, and they have been out of items as well. All in all, I really don't understand why people like this place so much!

They don't have a lot of these kind of theme restaurants in New York City. I never heard of Cracker Barrel before I saw this one. I come here from time to time when I am in Mass for breakfast on my day off. I dislike the waits to be seated and I dislike being on display waiting for a second time by the fireplace. The miserable elderly are a nightmare. The will shoot you looks that kill if you are under 40 and if you look like your having a good time and smiling they loathe you. The waiter was a really nice guy and really warm and helpful. The food is tasty and the atmosphere is cute. I love the very suburban Massachusetts vibe in there. It makes me chuckle. Better than the fucking nasty River Rd Cafe down the road. Oh yeah, don't sell me an oversized forest green sweater with a yellow baby chicken on it. One last comment, be prepared to wait to use the toilet, after that meal, all the elderly men with their New England Patriots hats, shirts, coats, and sweatpants will be taking up the toilets forever!

This place reminds me of being back in the south. The country ham, biscuits and gravy, and the hashbrown casserole are the perfect way to start your day.

Ok...this has to be my BEST experience ever at chain restaurant I've received in my entire adulthood!!! Starting from the moment we walked in to get seated....(the only reason they are not receiving 5 stars btw is because the hostess couldn't be found as we waited at the desk...minor detail as far as I'm concerned).....after being greeted we were walked over and conveniently seated by the warm fireplace. This worked out wonderfully since my leg is in a brace. Immediately upon sitting a young woman named Annissa introduced herself and apologized for her slight delay. She kindly and professionally took our order. Unfortunately when I gave my order I was unclear as to how and what type of gravy I wanted. Not only did she rush to resolve MY MISTAKE but she additionally refilled our drinks and offered to take care of our every need! After we completed our southern home cooked meal...and Annissa returned to our table which she proceeded to bus ...we asked to speak to her supervisor. If you are reading this Annissa I surely hope I didn't startle you in any way. After years in the retail service industry I can recognize expert customer service and you commanded it this evening! Thank you for an exceptional evening of stupendous service! I will definitely be back on a Thursday night when I know to ask for my favorite server....ooooh almost forgot to mention she only works Thursday nights btw. So if you should ever find yourself in tewksbury MA ..hungry on a Thursday night...stop in and say hello to Annissa .make sure you mention the furniture store lady and bring your wallet to leave her an EXCELLENT TIP! I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

I give 4 stars because this location is less then a mile from my house. It's our go to restaurant when we just don't want to cook at home. The price is always right. The staff is always polite and the food is always cooked right. I usually get the 10oz. Rib Eye steak. I mean where else can you get an aged rib eye with 3 sides for under $10? The country friend Steak is always top notch the sides are always tasty. I can't say enough good things about CB.

This is American comfort food at its best. They have a very touristy, but very well laid out lobby area which is really a substantial gift store. Anything you could ever want....that you will end up throwing away in a few years. Although some call this cheesy...it is a very clean store.... The food is just wonderful, substantial in proportions, and reasonably priced...like a Denny's but the quality is two step above. Our party had a large variety from chicken fried steak to fish, served with a variety of veggies, french fries, baked potato. All items were prepared very well, were tasty and served HOT. Service was excellent. For this genre of food.....off the interstate, family style dining and rating along side diners and places like Denny's, IHOP, etc. , this is the best in class. Don't confuse these 5 stars with 5 stars at the Hobbit in Orange, CA or Ago Restaurant. But these 5 stars are solid when you have driven 400 miles, need gasoline and something to eat.

i could not hate a place more! the food here is disgusting! my lunch here for so gross, i could not even tell you what i had! i do remember the lemonade being so sour! like drinking sour skittles...ughhh but you know, this was a while ago. and we all make mistakes. so when my mom took me here for breakfast earlier this week, i only put up a small fight. well i should have fought more! the restaurant is so disorganized! the service was bad. the whole restaurant is LOUD! the food was gross. just...ugh with a side of ugh! the hash browns had clearly been sitting on the plate long enough to get hard and clearly not fresh. the whole meal was lukewarm at best. the eggs were runny. just thinking about it gets me nauseated! save yourself...don't go here! why do you ask do i give this place two stars instead of one? my mom is very picky. if she comes here, than it can't be that bad. i won't go here again, but you know maybe some people like this place. also, the country store isn't so bad. they have a lot of candy that i like, my boyfriend found a harmonica for his friend. overall the store has some decent things in it. however, for the most part it's very...hickish if you will. not worth it. at all.

I couldn't remember where this place was, until we drove by it today......I have been here a few times when I wanted some Southern comfort food with friends who live closer to the New Hampshire border than the city. Why do I like this place? It's cheesy. It's fun. I am American, god dammit, and when I want to prove it, I go here. Good hush puppies. Good okra. Good specials. I like the Cracker Barrel, be it here or on the freeway in North Carolina. I find it soothing.

Recently went to this Cracker Barrel and had momma's breakfast. The pancakes were hot and the perfect texture, bacon was cooked just right and the eggs were just how I ordered them. Served up w/ butter and a little bottle of REAL maple syrup for around $8 bucks or so. How can you go wrong with that?

I visited the Cracker Barrel this weekend with some hesitation due to past experiences, I was happy to see the food was better than I remembered. This, however, was the first time in all my restaurant experiences that I did not leave a tip...the service was HORRIBLE!!!! Our waitress offered biscuits to every table but ours and failed to refill our drinks after we asked midway through our meals for one. Needless to say we were thirsty, had to ask twice for a take out container, cold soup and no bread. Decent food, horrible service!!!!

Ahhhhh. I love Cracker Barrel restaurants, and I love this location. Easy access from 495. Lots of parking. Consistent outstanding service, very polite, attentive and friendly employees. No rush to eat and leave. Very nice. Very nice warm decor, amazing huge fireplace, nice to go there in winter. Hehe. But, most of all, I love their food!!!! Two menus: breakfasts served all day, and non-breakfast menu. Soooo good, amazing comfort food, great prices. Really, really great value. If you want a quiet meal with friends so you can talk and catch up, they will absolutely find a nice table for your group. I would highly recommend!!

Service here is pretty horrendous. I've been twice in the past year. First time, the meal that I ordered was missing a few of the components as described on the menu. I asked the waitress if I could get them, and she proceeded to argue with me that the meal I was describing wasn't on the menu...until I asked her to bring me a menu and pointed it out to her. More recently, I had dinner here with my wife and parents - all four of us ordered food. When everyone else's dinner arrived, the waitress looked at me and asked if I'd also ordered something...she eventually brought me something that wasn't what I'd originally ordered. At that point, I didn't care. Your website says your "sole mission is pleasing people." You're failing. Badly.

Love Cracker Barrel. Server was very good. She was very apologetic about the lack of corn bread. She brought two biscuits disguised as hockey pucks! Could not eat. The turkey dinner was fine, excellent dressing but a lil light handed on the gravy! Cranberry sauce was a nice touch. I ordered milk and one of the cartons was spoiled... I almost spit a mouthful into the fireplace.!! Check expiration dates! Now I'm off milk for awhile. Not a great dinner but the service was great and I got a Clark bar on the way out! Always a fan. I'll be back!

Today's visit was horrible. Both hostess rude and manager not helpful. We were told 20-25 min wait for a party of six. We waited over 1 hour and 15 min. We were told countless times we would be the next party seated. After telling the manager we were hearing other parties were being seated he wasn't offering a resolution. We saw about five tables available and not seated. Waited another five minutes and then heard a parted of seven were seated. We went up to see what was going on and couldn't even sit us again! Triple the wait time without a seat while we could see available seats. This particular Sunday morning manager SUCKS! We left! We won't be back. Not worth the one star.

This is my first time at Cracker Barrel and I must say I was pleasantly surprised on how good my meal was. It was very country =) I ordered Grandpas Country Breakfast with Country Fried Chicken. This is huge! It came with the country fried chicken topped with gravy, hashbrown casserole (4 stars on its own)-MUST HAVE for sure, 2 eggs (cooked any style), grits and 4 delicious biscuits all for $8! You can't beat that! Positive: you MUST HAVE the fried apples and apple butter sauce on EVERYTHING!!!!this place has plenty of seating, fair amount of items in their menu, friendly staff, huge store to buy country stuff (sorry I'm not in to country stuff so I really don't know what they were selling), the wait was fair, lots of parking, fresh AND super tasty food, affordable--- what else can you ask for? Negative: not much here... Just don't come here if you're on a diet. Enjoy!!!

There's always a line here. Give yourself plenty of time while going to eat here. They have a gift shop you can look in while you're waiting on a table. They call your name so you can hear them while you're shopping. The food is good. My friend and I thought the southern theme was cute.

Pancakes. Served all day. This is what heaven is like. Seriously, I love places that know what's up. Cheap food, served quickly by friendly staff. Is it gourmet? Of course not. Is it filling, you bet. I love the decor. It makes you feel like you've traveled back in time. Popsicle signs, advertising brands you've never heard of for a nickel? Adorable. Old fashioned games, which describe you as dumb if you can't complete them - bonus, on every table. So much fun. The shop is quaint, if not overpriced. And I could do without the creapy rocking chairs lined up outside. Otherwise, yay, later night breakfast.

We were a party of three. Two adults and one child. Our poor waitress was flustered and couldn't remember repeated requests like drinks and condiments. I asked for ranch and was given honey mustard. I had black burnt French fries and over cooked sweet potato fries. Biscuits looked like they came out of a can. Old ladies were trying on clothes in the bathroom stalls and people that needed to use the restrooms couldn't because of their shopping. My Hubby's chicken fried steak was with very little gravy, he asked for extra, broccoli was burned. What a waste of money and time. This place needs help ASAP! Repeatedly asked for water and got it as we were leaving.

First time ever at this Cracker Barrel in Tewsburry, went with a bunch of friends for Elia's birthday, went with Carrie, Bill, Nina, myself, and of course Elia. Food is excellent, I ordered 3 buttermilk pancakes with scrambles eggs and turkey bacon, with a cup of coffee. Pancakes were cooked just right, golden brown, not burt at all, scrambled eggs were fresh, cracked eggs made to order, turkey bacon was chewy and crispy. Carrie got the open face roast beef sandwich with steak fries, beef was very tender and fries were crispy. Elia, the birthday girl got 3 pancakes which she enjoyed very much. Our server Ronald H did a very good job in taking care of our table, he took our drink order first, served the drinks, then took the main meal order. After he took the order, he brought out table biscutts and corn muffins before our main meal was served. Our late lunch or brunch did come out on time, Ronald did check back to make sure everything was fine with our meal, which it was. Last everybody did take some of there food home, no one wanted dessert because we were full. I did tip ronald very well 22 percent gratuity because of his outstanding service, I'm sure I will return again in the future.

its fine food, bang for a buck. Is it fresh, prolly not. Sides likely canned and nuked. Chicken and dumplins, so not good for me. Their new cuke tomato and onion side i like.

It pains me to see how poor this establishment is. When I was younger, I would travel throughout the U.S. and we would hit every single Cracker Barrel on our road trips. Let's start from the top. While waiting in a brief line to be seated, two employees were loudly gossiping and making less than becoming faces about another employee. So unprofessional. We were seated quickly to a table that was filthy. Rolled up, dirty napkins on the floor, crumbs everywhere, and even a pack of crayons scattered in the floor. The table was sticky. We waited for a few minutes and our waitress moved us after I pointed out how filthy the table was. She was embarrassed. The food wasn't terribly awful, but it was bland, tired, and lacked flavor. I ate quickly and in silence, just wanting to hurry up and go home. What really put the nail on the coffin for me was the gift shop. A very, very elderly man was looking at candy to buy and had many questions about the price and where to go to purchase it. The woman, and I use the term "woman" loosely, was so blatantly rude, inpatient and condescending to this poor old gentleman who was most likely at least 90 years old. Cracker Barrel was a family tradition in my family for many years. Aside from the filthy tables and lackluster food, the disrespect and ignorance that poor older gentleman faced made me sick, and I will never return! I do not have a history of writing negative reviews- check my other reviews if you wish. This experience at Cracker Barrel was such an abomination, that I felt compelled to share.

Cracker Barrel's are the same everywhere. You order food and get a LOT of it. It is consistently delicious. I always come here for breakfast with means fried apples and grits, YUM! We came late morning on a Saturday and were sat right away. It was busy but not crazy. This Cracker Barrel has some of the NICEST people working here Are you sure we are in Massachusetts? I have learned at places like this not to ask for none of this and sub extra of that, because they never seem to listen. This place was no different, so we had a lot of food that went uneaten on our table. In the country store I always grab a pecan roll for later and some old fashioned candy. But if you need a gaudy shirt or some lawn gnomes this is the place to find them.

I love Cracker Barrel! If you want southern food- eat here. I've never been disappointed and always know what to expect. Biscuits and gravy are to die for as well as the pancakes and the corn muffins. I even started eating grits because of this place!
Came here expecting more than I got. The atmosphere is nice, but the food lacks quality. Not a good representation of what country food is. Mediocre food at best and they have a bunch of clothes and knick knacks for sale which seems to be the primary focus. The grits weren't really that good at all. The "chicken fried chicken" reminded me of KFC chicken. The fried eggs tasted like rubber. I was taken aback as to how you can mess up a fried egg. The only thing that was actually good, was the Orange Juice and Darjeeling tea. If you like a mediocre breakfast and don't expect much I would recommend this place, but if you actually enjoy a good tasting breakfast go to a mom and pop joint.

I have to admit, nothing really "wow's" me about this place. The food was good, but the service was just ok. No one came over to me after I sat down so another server did come over because they saw me looking around. My server greeted me by asking me if I knew what I wanted to eat. I heard another server tell her table about some specials, but nothing was said to me. I was in the middle of eating my meal and the server put the bill on my table. He wasn't rude, I just don't think he knew how to be a server, which is what I saw the last time I was here.

All I wanted for my birthday dinner was fried chicken. We called to make sure the chicken special on Sunday was fried chicken on the bone, was told it was. It was not on the bone, but still so delicious!! My son whom is a mac and cheese connoisseur, said it was the best he's ever had. Southern cooking that I miss. Love me some bisquits and gravy. The apple dumpling was huge, good thing we shared. And our party of 9's bill came to $111. Our little dirty blonde waitress was great! She humored my disabled brother and never once treated him awkward. I love this place, love the food, love the store, loved our waitress, loved the price!!

The food is amazing but the waitresses are a bit pushy which I am not a fan of at all and seem a bit grumpy, I know they are busy but it would be nice if they could smile. I'm giving them three stars because I do enjoy the food along with the atmosphere I would give more but again the waitresses.

The two stars are for the friendly service only. The food was unappealing, to say the least. I wasn't looking for gourmet cuisine but my grilled pork chop was thin and dry and the turnip greens and green beans that people rave about tasted canned. My plate's appearance took me back to my high school cafeteria. But, hey, the seven people I was with- fellow sports team parents- thought it was great so go figure. Also no liquor license so although I don't indulge in booze any more I would have had a few to overcome the food.

We live on the other side of Tewksbury, and I always forget about Cracker Barrel. We saw a commercial Sunday morning, and my husband said he was hungry, so I suggested it for breakfast. What a bad idea that was! We arrived to a hostess who was bickering about something with a waitress. The waitress brought us to our table and said she would be back. Another waitress came to take our drink order, and then the FIRST waitress came BACK to take our drink order. So strange! We put in our order for breakfast, and then proceeced to wait over half an hour. As the time went by, we started realizing that all the people around us had nasty looks on their faces as well - they were all waiting for their food also! I couldnt believe we had waited that long. We have an 11 month old baby who was starting to get antsy, so thank God for the store, I was able to take him and walk around for a while to distract him. I came back to the table, and we still were waiting for our food! The waitress walked by, and I asked if she knew how much longer. She just said it should be out soon, my manager just hopped on the grill to help out. (We had just been waiting for half an hour - there were others waiting much longer! It took THAT LONG for a manager to jump on the grill if the kitchen was that backed up?) I saw MAYBE one waitress every ten minutes come out of the kitchen with food. I decided that the next time she came by I was going to ask for the bill for our drinks, but luckily, the next time she came with the food. It wasnt good - I've been to Cracker Barrels before, and its always been good portions, and good comfort food, but it didn't even look good. My husbands fried apples looked green, his plate came with ONE piece of bacon, and my cream cheese french toast was small, wasnt as good as it looked in the menu, served on a small dessert plate, and came with two eggs and a few slices of bacon on a huge plate. It just looked SO not worth the well over half hour wait. I most likely would not go back.

Cracker Barrel! Their tag line is "We'll kill you with Carbs" Most breakfasts INCLUDE Grits, potatoes, sawmill gravy and biscuits. The saddest part is that it's really good food for a chain. I could eat here everyday if I weren't concerned for my life. I also need to knock the place for poor service. I bet some Cracker Barrels are staffed by charming, talkative folksy types. Not here. I seem to get the waitstaff who are unfamiliar with the menu and have serious issues working at 9am. pass

My scrambled eggs were cold and runny on my egg sandwich. The only reason I gave them 1 star is for their delicious hash brown casserole. Not worth the wait, I'll never go back again.

The rest of the staff was very friendly and compensated for the lack of service our server (Chelsey P)provided. And the food was amazing so I would have no problem coming back to this Cracker Barrel as long as I didn't get this server again. After the hostess seated us the server took ten minutes to come introduce herself and get our drink order. Since it had been so long we just put our order in as well. She apologized for the wait saying it was very busy. It took another ten minutes to get our drinks at which time the restaurant emptied out quite a bit and our server only had two tables including us left. When our food arrived another server had brought it out for us and noticed our server never gave us bread and biscuits, so she went and brought us some. Our server checked in and refilled a drink. Later she came by again and asked if we wanted another drink filled. We said yes, but that drink never came. When we finished we needed a to-go box, but she hadn't been to our table area in fifteen minutes so we went to ask the hostess instead who helped us. Then we checked out and for the first time ever I gave a very small tip (7% which was generous considering all she did was bring us our drinks) because I always tip at least 20%.

Normally the food is pretty good here. Last night was the first time I've eaten here and the food and service was terrible. Walking in our hostess was super nice. Too bad they didn't promote her to waitress. We sat down and I knew right away I didn't like our server but I tried my best to give her the benefit of the doubt. She took forever to bring us our drink order even though it was 9pm and the restaurant was dead. 10 minutes is too long to bring out a soda and a water. She was too busy chit chatting with everyone in the back. We both ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. She brought out our food and walked back to the kitchen. I noticed right away that my masked potatoes were bad and we both noticed how over cooked and dry the chicken fried steak was but it was impossible to get our servers attention. Also I needed a refill on my soda but she didn't even offer me a refill when she dropped our food off. Several times our server walked out into the dining room but never once even glanced over at our table and she never bothered to check back and make sure everything was ok. After about 10 minutes of this my wife got up to ask for a manager. Our server came running out of the back and started screaming at my wife. "Mam, mam, can I help you?!?! Sorry lady too late. Besides she really put my wife on the spot and embarrassed her in front of the other customers. The manager was awesome. He came over and offered to comp both our meals without us even asking. I would have been happy with 25% off. He provided more service than she ever did. I wanted to leave him with the tip instead of her. She never once came back to our table to apologize or anything. I never had such a rude server. Here's my thing. The food can be bad. That happens sometimes. But the server made the experience worse. She had an opportunity to turn our experience around but she chose to make it even worse. I love the Cracker Barrel but this experience left a bad taste in our mouths and it wasn't just the food. Some people shouldn't be allowed to work with the general public.

There would be more stars if the review was only about the food. My husband had Momma's Pancake breakfast - he loves their bacon. I had the fried shrimp with mac'n cheese, green beans and cucumber onion salad - delicious southern style and well cooked. HOWEVER - it took 27 or so minutes to even have our order taken. Then it took 10 minutes to get our drinks and another 5 minutes for the straw. After being here an hour, we were still waiting for food a a drink refill. The manager was NO WHERE to be seen. It was a total disaster. The hostess way over-sat our poor server. It was horrible. He was totally over-whelmed and she just kept sitting more tables. I felt so bad. I hope they fix the hostess & management issues. We love the Barrel!

My wife got a gift card to this place. Neither of us had been here before. We brought our 1.5 year old. The hostesses seemed too busy to be friendly. The waitress was the same. Drinks came out fast as did our kids meal. That's where the positive experience ended. Fried chicken breast (what the menu said) and chicken fingers (what came out) are not the same thing and for an open face sandwich it wasn't really what I wanted . My wife had the saddest turkey sandwich I've seen in a while. No mayo or other dressing? One fatty slice of turkey? Her lettuce looked like it had been toasted with the bread. Does no one check the food before it leaves? The waitress came back to check on is about the time we had become fed up with the mediocre food you'd expect from a chain that didn't have the words "home made" anywhere in the vicinity of the menu. At this point we said just give us the check and got the heck out of there. If we hadn't had a gift card we definitely would have complained. Maybe the breakfast is better? Honestly I can't understand why the parking lot was so full. I can say without a doubt that we won't be back.

Stick to breakfast and dessert at Cracker Barrel. Dinner is barely OK. I had the country vegetable plate with a choice of four side dishes. The hash brown casserole and baked sweet potato were both very good, but the macaroni and cheese was pretty boring, and the broccoli casserole wasn't worth eating. The new blackberry cobbler is delish!

This place specializes in southern homestyle cooking. If you want to eat healthy, this is most definitely not the place for you. I come here a couple times a month with my sister simply because we splurge on a good, hearty, go-straight-to-my-thighs meal. The service here is friendly and straight to the point. I can't complain about the prices either! I'm in love with their delicately crispy homestyle chicken which is only served on Sundays. The hashbrown casserole and chicken n' dumplings are addicting. It is crowded during the weekends, so expect a wait! Browsing through the store is a fun way to kill time.

Food is good. We had a problem with the waitress understanding the needs of my handicapped friend. Waitress was nasty. Asked manager for a different waitress. Then everything was fine.

This is a great restaurant with many varieties to choose from. The portions they put on your plate are outstanding for the price. I highly suggest the homestyle fried chicken special on sundays. The plate comes with two huge pieces of juicy fried chicken breasts. The gift shop is amazing as well. Awesome place to go with your family, spouse or even by yourself.

The food at the Cracker Barrel pretty much sucks. You feel like you are eating veggies out of a can... most likely because you ARE. Seriously, everything tastes canned. The chicken is ok, but you can tell that it's been frozen. I guess you get what you pay for, the meals are pretty cheap here. I like the Cracker Barrel for their old time store. I like the candy they sell. Come on, who doesn't like Fun Dip!? Go for the store, and go somewhere else for dinner.

Cracker Barrel offers one of the larger selections at a restaurant you will ever see, both the breakfast and lunch menus are full of a variety of dishes and combinations. The breakfast menu offers a large number of combinations and choices. From the lunch menu, the portion sizes are quite generous, given most meals come with 2-3 side dishes. The quality of the food is middle of the road, though again what's appealing is the number of choices and the reasonable prices.

Not a place I would go back to unless you have all day to wait on them
(1)Joie S.
(4)Lucy D.
(4)Jason M.

(3)Frannie Z.

(3)Phil A.
(3)Cassie D.
(5)John B.
(2)Michael P.
(4)Jennifer S.
(1)Andy A.
(4)Matthew M.
This place is just another Bad Food Chain and not worth stopping here just drive by you will thank me for it
(1)Latoya B.
I received horrible service at this location. A bit racist to be honest.
(1)Andrew L.
(3)Heather O.
(4)Jesse S.
(1)Melissa G.
(4)Jason S.

(5)Bobby K.
Great southern food! When its busy, service suffers.

(2)EricaLynn J.

So good. Not my favorite breakfast but it's still good. I had biscuits and eggs and the biscuits are so soft and fluffy. So yummy!!!

(3)Mike F.

(4)J W.
If you link boing boing country music blaring at you, hurried service, and bland food, this place is for you. I'd never return.

Born in a typhoon off Santa Monica, California in 1933.

This is the only Cracker Barrel in the entire area, but it's pretty great.

Ok...if u like bacon gravy and grits. When my friend from the south are in town I bring them....food just ok. Great gift shop
(2)Jennifer S.
The cornbread is so gross. Gross enough to make me never come back. The little country store is cute though, but ill never be eating there again.
(2)Chris F.

(4)Kelly C.
(3)Gayle S.
(3)Kate G.
i love this place. the staff is awesome. the food is good, served in huge huge portions, and i love that when they know there will be a crowd with a significant wait like this past mother's day they have drawings, games for the kids, and free samples to keep everyone happy and entertained!

(2)Michael T.
Love this place. Portions could be a little bigger. Everything else spot on.
(5)Kara G.

(4)Stephanie S.
(4)Ralph G.
It's a chain resteraunt but it really has a nice warm cozy feel with good food.
(4)Selene K.
I like the country cooking and the store. The hashbrown casserole is my favorite. I love that you can get breakfast all day. Their sourdough bread makes the best french toast.
(4)Jeffrey L.
Rude and inattentive wait staff. Every - yes, every - order was wrong in some way. Food was awful. 90% of customers are morbidly obese.
(1)A J.

(4)Jeffrey T.
(2)Brian G.
(3)John O.
This place reminds me of being back in the south. The country ham, biscuits and gravy, and the hashbrown casserole are the perfect way to start your day.
(4)Liz T.
(4)Aimee G.
Only way to describe this place......friggin AMAZING!!!!!! More amazing than the time Janet Jackson came to my house to use the bathroom!
(4)Scott B.
(4)Clint U.
(5)Nicole B.
i could not hate a place more! the food here is disgusting! my lunch here for so gross, i could not even tell you what i had! i do remember the lemonade being so sour! like drinking sour skittles...ughhh but you know, this was a while ago. and we all make mistakes. so when my mom took me here for breakfast earlier this week, i only put up a small fight. well i should have fought more! the restaurant is so disorganized! the service was bad. the whole restaurant is LOUD! the food was gross. just...ugh with a side of ugh! the hash browns had clearly been sitting on the plate long enough to get hard and clearly not fresh. the whole meal was lukewarm at best. the eggs were runny. just thinking about it gets me nauseated! save yourself...don't go here! why do you ask do i give this place two stars instead of one? my mom is very picky. if she comes here, than it can't be that bad. i won't go here again, but you know maybe some people like this place. also, the country store isn't so bad. they have a lot of candy that i like, my boyfriend found a harmonica for his friend. overall the store has some decent things in it. however, for the most part it's very...hickish if you will. not worth it. at all.
(2)D M.
(4)Rick T.
(5)Nicole F.
(3)Denis D.
(5)Scott W.

(3)Michelline K.
I love Cracker Barrel! If you want southern food- eat here. I've never been disappointed and always know what to expect. Biscuits and gravy are to die for as well as the pancakes and the corn muffins. I even started eating grits because of this place!

First time experiencing cracker barrel and it was unbelievably amazing! This family style restaurant, friendly staff and owner made dinner 100% worth it, especially after a long day shopping at the outlets! As my boyfriend mentioned, "this is the perfect place for you to gain weight!" lol Worked out for me because I devoured the app, entrée, and dessert

All I can say is yummmmm...wish they would build more of them...extremely reasonably priced for all the awesome food you get!

What do you expect from a chain restaurant

(5)Julicus C.
The food is amazing but the waitresses are a bit pushy which I am not a fan of at all and seem a bit grumpy, I know they are busy but it would be nice if they could smile. I'm giving them three stars because I do enjoy the food along with the atmosphere I would give more but again the waitresses.
(3)Barbara T.

Great food, great service and excellent prices!! This is a great place to take the family to. When there are 6 of us we are bound to get a great meal that's affordable.

Had a very good time with there for Thanksgiving with the family food is great Food is really hot and will go back again had a very good time great service

Not here. I seem to get the waitstaff who are unfamiliar with the menu and have serious issues working at 9am. pass
(3)Kristina V.

(3)Michelle L.
(5)AM F.
Food is good. We had a problem with the waitress understanding the needs of my handicapped friend. Waitress was nasty. Asked manager for a different waitress. Then everything was fine.
(3)Missy G.
(5)Kristy T.
good food, good service. That says it all. I'd eat here again.
(5)Steve S.
(2)Philip D.
