One of my favorite pastimes, no, two of my favorite pastimes are 1.) going here with my mom and 2.) calling it all manner of similar names, "twinkles," "tingles," "tuggles," until my mom gets exasperated and says, "It's 'Tickles.'" Seriously though, this is a great mother-daughter place. You can eat chicken salad, quiche, regular salad... it's all there, the ladies' lunch trifecta. If there is a wait, and there sometimes is, you can look at Pandora, Vera Bradley, that other brand we girls go crazy about, and other trinkets until you can't stand it anymore and buy yourself something nice. Sharing time: When my dog, who I sometimes call Popsicle, was still a puppy, we went here and I found a collar with-- get this-- Popsicles on it. I squeaked, and my mom said "It's so perfectttt," and the cashier probably thought we were way too excited about a dog collar. It was awesome.

I've never dined in the tea room so my review is solely based on my experience in the gift shop area. Tickles in a cute little country store with everything from Alex & Ani to Vera Bradley. It's a great place to find gift for a loved one; however their lack of customer service is a reason to never come back. The sales attendants are cold and unwelcoming. After many visits there, I've never met a helpful sales attendant. I hope they do not work on commission. Additionally, for some time, Tickles had a ban on all strollers. I understand the space is small; however, this just made myself and other mothers feel unwelcomed with our children.

The Grilled Cheese with mozzarella, roasted red peppers and pesto was very good.

Headed in here today for lunch and have to say it's a great place to get some food. Tickle's seems to be a boutique gift shop with a restaurant attached. The restaurant is very New England - fireplace and all. Here's the rundown on the food (very reasonably priced): -Lobster roll - very good...just the right amount of mayo (very light) mixed in with lobster on a perfectly toasted roll -Garden Vegetable - excellent with a little bit of kick to it -New England Chowder - I'm not a chowder guy, but the table tried the chowder and raved about it -Crab Cakes - They claim it's a specialty, but it's not that good -Cranberry Chicken Wrap - very good -Tomato Bisque - pretty good -Lava Cake Dessert - mediocre & recommend against it -Pear Tart Dessert - excellent & recommended I would definitely come back. The weakest part of the experience was the service. Having served tables for a few years, I don't think there's any reason for multiple people to have empty glasses at the table for 15 minutes.

In order to fully appreciate Tickle's you need to look at the gift shop and the tea room as a package deal. Each, individually isn't anything stellar but the two together makes for a great little outing. On the gift side you've got plenty of mainstream "boutique" offerings like Vera Bradley, Pandora, Cape Cod Jewelry, Brighton, Alex & Ani, Crabtree & Evelyn, the list goes on. They also have home decor items such as garden sculptures, candles and Christmas ornaments as well as a pet goods section. A streamlined selection of ladies clothing and accessories and a bath and beauty area means there's always something perfect for yourself and your gift recipient. In the Tea Room, they have basic lunch offerings - soup, salads, sandwiches. I've never been disappointed by the food. It's a tea room, they're not claiming to be 5 stars. I personally liked the chowder and they usually have tasty flavored ice tea offerings in the summer. There is an arbored patio in the back that is open in the summer months and is lovely if you want to have lunch outside. Also, save room for a piece of chocolate from the chocolates counter. Whether you're looking for a gift for a friend or you want to take Grandma out for lunch and shopping, Tickle's is a great option.

This is a wonderful place to shop/eat at in town! It's similar to stepping into a wonderland of things females love to buy (oooo ahhh):: Alex & Ani, Brighton collection, Vera Bradley, pet knick knacks, accessories, clothing etc. etc. One of my favorite things to do is bring my mother here for "tea time." Their cozy tea room offers a nice selection of soups, sandwiches, coffee, teas and a perfect spot to catch up with loved ones. Can't wait for them to open up their new carriage room in the fall/winter!

Best blueberry white chocolate bread pudding EVER! The only downside is that I didn't order one just for myself:(

Though I live in NY now, I grew up in the East Bay and passed by this store constantly, yet never went inside. It just didn't seem to have a welcoming vibe, even from the outside, and boy was I right! This past weekend while visiting family, my mom kept hinting at stopping here to shop, so we did. Big mistake. This place has such an unwelcoming ambiance it's sickening. Not one person said hello to us when we walked-in, but the multitude of illy dressed associates did make sure to give us the up and down glance. The store really wasn't that impressive and rather cliche. It's probably just not my taste, but it was mainly saturated with Vera Bradley and Alex & Ani products. The remainder of the store was mostly over priced purses, clothes, and tacky signs with sayings on how you can never have too much wine. Tickles, you're a snob. Get over yourself.

Not. A. Fan. Complete and utterly over priced, mediocre, and bland food sums up Tickles. I was really looking forward to enjoying myself there and had looked forward to it for a while, but twas a sad let down. My bf and I had 2 cups of chowder (def. not homemade but passable), a tomato and pesto panini with pasta salad (panini was so buttery I felt sick for hours after eating it and the pasta salad was tasteless ) and the crabcakes (the biggest flaw of the whole meal, two flat breaded discs with a flavor reminiscent of frozen fish sticks, a nightmare). This meal was over $50.00 with tip. Talk about buyers remorse. Every meal we have had since of the same price reminds us of how much we got ripped off at Tickles. Avoid at all costs unless you are an octogenarian or older, have money to burn on poor quality food items and don't get out much. Honestly, I am not usually so negatively vehement about a place, but the quality was THAT low and the price THAT high that I must go there.

Cute petite gift shop with expensive trinkets If there's a place in your life for delightful knick-knacks, tchotchkes, bric-a-brak, or in my own words- clutter. They specialize in items of whimsey that people buy around Christmas time or for special occasions requiring something special for a person you don't know well. Atmosphere: Quaint. This is not the right venue for farting. It's small, and the upscale clientele frown upon such things, even if you are able to make musical or funny sound effects without any odor. These talents are not welcome here. Staff: The accommodating staff are smartly dressed vestal virgins, happy to help you find that special doodad, and thank you for not staring at their perky breasts.

I love Tickle's, there is so much charm about it. And you can always find a cute little gift for anyone there. Their cafe is adorable and I love their tea. It is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The tea room is ok, but the service is beyond slow. I went to exchange a Pandora charm and purchase another one as well. We waited for 10 minutes for assistance while 3 employees chatted, finally a clerk from another area came to us, she had to ask the one of the 3 to assist us. I haven't been back since, it is a cute place with some nice things, but the service is well below the prices they charge. Such a disappointment.

Tickle's is a cute shop with a delightful cafe. The store carries everything from Pandora to Clark's shoes. I love spending an afternoon here. The area for Pandora and now even Alex & Ani has grown a little too big. The cafe is wonderful! Salads, sandwiches, soups, and quiche! Coffee or even a glass of wine. The patio is quaint. The service is fine. Bring your mom or your daughter it is going to be a afternoon that provides good quality time you love to remember.

Cute little place, but way overpriced. More like something (price wise) that should be in Newport, or East Side of Providence....but it's fun to go in and look.

Had lunch with a few friends in the tea room. The tea sandwiches were good. Server could have been better.

Just to clarify, this review is just on the shop itself!! To get things started , I can say how adorable this shop is. They have Vera Bradley , Jewlery and a bunch of other bags , clothing and accessories. They even have things for the little ones like webkinz(do kids still play with those?), dresses for dolls(so adorable!) and a bunch of little knick knacks and toys . Nice place to stop to get a friend a gift. As usual will be returning.

I am absolutely in love with this place. I had lunch today at Tickle's in their adorable Tea Room. I had shared the Afternoon Tea which comes with tea sandwiches, sweets, scones, and a pot of tea, with my boyfriend and he started off with their clam chowder. They had no problem altering the sandwiches to my dietary needs (since I don't eat meat). The food was delicious and the the jasmine green tea was fragrant. The service was great! I was seated right away and the waitress was attentive. They also have a shop connected to the tea room with cute jewelry, clothes, bags, etc. I definitely will be coming back soon!

The tickles shop area is nice, some of the clothing has an older woman appeal to them ( If you get what I mean), but they have some very nice jewelry -- Including Alex and Ani if you're into that stuff. Personally I think Alex and Ani is a bit overrated, but that's just me. I mean it's a piece of recycled metal, with a charm attached to it. Big whoopdie do. My mom and I had lunch in the tea room on a sunday, and apparently they were only doing " Afternoon tea". Okay, that's fine. So we did the afternoon tea, which came with an assortment of finger sandwiches, some tea which is sub-par if best, and some sugary pastries. There wasn't an option to what you received, and because I'm lactose intolerant I couldn't eat half of the stuff they put out for us. The idea behind "Tea time", is nice but really they should check to see if you have any sort of allergies. The food I did have was boring, and somewhat flavorless. I wouldn't go back here for the food or the tea ( I can buy the tea just about upscale market. Why go here and pay an over inflated price for it? ) I would however go back if I wanted to find someone something overly feminine for a gift.

This is a very cute place where you can get a variety of things from UGGS to Vera Bradley to tons of jewelry including Pandora and Alex and Ani. The reason I decided to go to Tickles is because of the new fad that is now Alex and Ani. Although I do not wear them myself, I wanted to get some as gifts for my friends. I went on a day that was not busy at all and I was thankful for that, for I heard near the holidays it gets crazy. Like lines out the door crazy... I called ahead of time to see if they had the bracelets that I needed in stock. A&A had run out of the ones I wanted online. The lady on the phone was super friendly and helpful. And they had a lot of the bracelets in stock, which was amazing. When I went to the store I had to explore. There's so much to look at! For the jewelry, you have to grab a ticket/number and wait till they call you when a lady is available to help you. This happened super fast and I didn't realize you had to do that. I also didn't see the point when there aren't many people to help. But I totally get it otherwise. I got the bracelets I wanted! And I'm excited about that. They have a tea room, which I haven't experienced or seen. There are also chocolates and other treats. It's pretty much a really nice gift shop. If I need another bracelet, I'll definitely be hitting up Tickles again and not even bother with purchasing online.

Very cool little boutique with an attached tea house. It had all things that my heart flutters after: Alex and Ani, Pandora, Spartina, Crabtree & Evelyn, Vera Bradley, John Madeiras jewelry, Brighton bags, and other various brands with a large array of clothing and accessory collections. They also have homemade fudge and stonewall kitchen products. If you're looking for a gift or just to treat yourself, this is a great place to find it all. It was a little crowded when I went which made it hard to find a parking spot and it felt slightly claustrophobic, which is the only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5. Next time I'm definitely going to try out the tea house too, because it looked wonderful!

Since my first review the Tickles Tea room has changed! In late 2014 Tickles opened , The Aviary, a new restaurant only steps away from the existing tea room. To differentiate between the two restaurants the owners changed the decor and the menu. Listed are the changed along with my new review. First, the tea room changed from a colonial green decor to a pink and more traditional tea room setting with shelves line with tea cups and tea pots. As a guy I can do without the frills but I will overlook glitz for the food, lol. A fireplace still centers the room and is lit on cool day is a nice touch on a cold day. Second, since reopening in December 2014 the menu has changed twice. Tickles now offers more traditional tea room fare including loose leaf teas, scones, complete teas ( mini sandwiches, sweets, along with a pot of tea) and more dessert choices like crepes and cupcakes. Initially, the owners also added espresso and lattes but after listening to long time patrons those drinks were dropped and the New England brand flavored coffee was brought back. Like wise, other customers favorites such as the grilled cheese and soups returned. As of this date the Tickles online menu does not reflect the most recent changes. Now for my review. After the reopening, and on my first visit I had a nice quiche and a ample piece of warm apple pie topped with gelato. Although I much prefer the creaminess of ice cream over pie the dessert was large and tasty. I did not care for the change in coffee. On my second visit , I enjoyed a small pot of the ginger pear tea. The pot provided 3 cups of tea for 3 dollars which I thought was a bargain compared to other places. I also had a brownie with gelato which was ok. My friend had same tea too but ordered a single scone which we both thought was very small for the price (half the size of a Panera scone. ) My third visit was a mixed bag, I finally got to order my favorite grilled cheese which had returned to the menu. I also ordered the blueberry tea which was very good. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate cream pie long a favorite of mine. When presented the whipped cream looked a bit flat and the added side whipped cream was almost melted. More importantly, upon tasting the dense fudge firmness of the chocolate was gone and . I doubt the recipe had changed but rather the new refrigerator dessert case is not keeping the cream pies chilled enough. By looking in the new case as you enter the room one can see how the cream on the cream pies and cup cakes are not holding up well. In summary, the staff has always been peasant and professional. In the past two months the owners, along with management have quickly responded to customers concerns with changes to the menu, etc. They seem dedicated to ensuring guest have a pleasant experience. If the cream pie can be restored to the former taste and presentation I'll update this post.
