Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Bullfinchs. Had a wonderful meal during their live jazz brunch - lobster benedict, beef hash with poached eggs, and the texas french toast - all of which were fresh, flavorful, and good portions. We also ordered the baked brie as an appetizer and it might have been my favorite part of the meal! Signed up for a cooking class with my husband so we'll definitely be back!

This is a great little restaurant. The waitress was prompt and very friendly, the space is clean and charming. I'd read raving reviews about the duck, so that's what I ordered... Man, I'll be dreaming about that duck for a long time! Quite possibly the best duck I've ever had. Tender and juicy, and so flavorful! My husband got the stroganoff and that was good too. We had the appetizer special, an Italian cheese fondue with red pepper pesto - that was delicious! Overall we're very happy with this place, and if we find ourselves in the area again, we'll definitely go again (and I'm definitely getting that duck again!!!)

I had a baby shower for my daughter and posted on FB looking for the perfect brunch spot, and Bullfinchs was suggested. Service: I called to book, and they were gracious to extend their kitchen hours (they close at 2 on Sunday) to accomodate our party. Peggy emailed me the proposed menu, and put my daughters name at the top of the bruch cards at our table. It was a nice touch that went the extra mile. Our server was AWESOME. I hate that I cannot remember his name, but as I recall, he had a bald/shaved head in his late 20's or early 30's. He was so kind, and didn't rush us at all. He was very laid back and anticipated what people needed without asking. Food: There were pastry/coffee cake at the table waiting for us at our arrival. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and I had a tough crowd to please, from my son, nephews to the snobby tastes of my wonderful Mother-in-law. Everyone was happy. The only bummer is the fee they charge if you bring your own cake. If I recall it was around $3 per person, which is abit steep, but they do cut and plate the cake for you. In the grand scheme of things, it is still worth it. In a heartbeat I would host another event here. You get your $ worth here between the service and the quality of food. I look forward to returning in the future!

The vegetarian menu is awesome - not a lot of restaurants in Boston are thoughtful enough to do that and have food good enough without being weird to back it up. Scored big points with me the first time. They also have other menus, including kids. Food is truly awesome - one of the best in Boston. Ambiance is awesome. It is good for romantic dinners, business meetings, but it is also one of these place where they get to know you after a while and has a very good family feeling. I wouldn't bring kids who need to scream and run around while they eat, but for kids who have some level of understanding on how to eat in a restaurant, it is very good. One of the drawbacks is that, year after year, I have seen more and more people discover this diamond, so that most nights it is now almost impossible to come without making reservations. Therefore, please please please ignore this review and go somewhere else - I heard that Faneuil hall and Back Bay are really, really hip.

My boyfriend and I stopped here after a day of apple picking at Nashoba Valley wanting a nice dinner. They definitely delivered. Loved the romantic and cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the salmon and black and blue filet, both highly recommended and cooked to perfection with delicious well complimented sides. Drinks are definitely strong, but excellent wine selection. Will definitely be back again, worth the ride!

From the first time I dined here...(about 10+ years ago), to when I have subsequently visited to have dinner, a drink or celebrate my birthday, the service and food have been outstanding! They also host cooking classes that I am dying to parti[ate in! Love, love, love this place!

Have been coming here for years. Always been consistent, great service, great food. But this week, not so much. Sat at the bar for dinner and the bartender was just bad. In her defense she had so much to do but get her some help! We (and those around us) had to make several requests for what we needed. She just had so much going on and couldn't take proper care of her customers. The food took quite a while to get out; I think the kitchen was backed up. No sign of the owner and he is usually very visible so perhaps that's why things were so off. Will keep going because we have a history but the bartender and service at the bar really needs improving!

I called for reservation for 7 people the day before. 4 adults 3 kids. Earliest for brunch was 1:00. He said to come early & we could try for a seat outside. We arrived at 10am, they open at 10:30. No issues at all. The food was awesome. Fresh and good. Prices are great $12 for entree $10 for kids meal. Would go back

A solid 4. My loves for anything earth toned and old fashioned are found inside this place. Thoughtful dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. I love the gluten free menu, even though I have no such allergy or diet restriction. I really for once in a long time decided to go a place for brunch, hungover as HELL on a Sunday morning. Well.. the tucked away location ( crazily at the end of a nice ol sudbury strip mall) and the live jazz was enough to shake me of dark and dingy Worcester and wake me up aand smell the coffee... and scones, muffins, bacon and poached salmon? French/English inspired breakfast and lunch dishes dot the menu.. Its a refreshing alternate to the Sunday morning dive diner... my beau had the special for brunch that morning... a braised beef hash with roasted potatoes (see photos) and a poached eggs. I had the poached salmon in a sweet sauce with corn and bacon..and potatoes! It was a bit rich for brunch but absolutely delicious! I mean really where have I been? This is the nicest brunch I've had between Boston and the Berkshires... in fact short of the Ritz or 4 Seasons, this place takes the cake for decent and imaginative food in the area. I'm thrilled and can't wait to try dinner. Oh yes by the way, we did sample the drinks and they were not weak at all... delicious and classic drinks like mimosas and my beau tried the new take on the old fashioned. mmmm Bourbon on a Sunday afternoon! A lil hair of the dog, that doesn't have to be a bloody Mary.. but that's next on my list there. This is the type of place that gets PACKED for holidays like Mother's Day, Long Weekends, Baby showers etc. so I'd say make a reservation. Although nothing major was going on when we went,I was glad I made one. Go!!!!!!!!!!

I was really looking forward to the jazz brunch here. It was very busy! I do like jazz, but we couldn't see them from where we were sitting. The food was mediocre. I had panko-crusted french toast because the waffle had ice cream which seemed too sweet. I felt guilty eating the fried french toast. The panko was buttery and kind of tasteless. I had to order fruit on the side to get some semblance of healthy. It wasn't one of those indulgent brunches that was worth it. It was more like empty calories and not careful cooking. We were all generally disappointed. Everything was good except for the food.

Bullfinch's is a local gem that I discovered while poking around on OpenTable. We were looking to try some place new, and they were close, so we figured we'd give it a go. With one visit, it was quickly added to our list of favorites. The hostess and waitstaff were incredibly attentive, and the menu was out of this world. Everything on the menu was creative and interesting, and I wanted to try at least 5 different entrees (and that didn't even include the special that night - which were also amazing). We returned a few weeks later to try out the jazz brunch on Sunday, only to be even more amazed. Another creative menu, excellent music & a plate full of scones & fresh jam. The bartender also makes an amazing bloody mary! Perfect start to the day. TL;DR -- Fantastic service, amazing menu and the Sunday Jazz brunch is just perfect.

Went to dinner here for the first time in a few years. The food was very good, as was the service, but we left with a bad taste. At the end of the meal, the server brought us a form for the "frequent diner" program. I filled it in and asked her to credit our dinner. She told us she couldn't do that as we didn't have the frequent diner card yet. It would come in a few days and we could not retroactively put on tonight's dinner. I will never understand why a retail establishment puts in something to make customers feel valued and then proceeds to put up a roadblock to make them feel annoyed. Even the airlines, which have the most restrictive policies of any group, allow you to collect your points retroactively.

I have been here for dinner a bunch of times. The food is good - or better than good. I would say that it is good+. If I could I would award 3.5 stars. The bar is nice, but very small. I am often disappointed that I cant get a seat at the bar. They have a nice patio in the front which is great for the summer and spring. The beer selections are fine but I have had trouble finding wines I like here. The bartenders are nice.

My second outing to Bullfinch's in a few years. Good environment for large groups with a few separate rooms allowing for conversation. Waitstaff was attentive and not overbearing. I ordered the lamb chops (2) and while one was done perfectly to medium rare, the other was well-done. Portions were a bit small. The wine selection was average at best, uninspired, and overpriced (e.g., bottle of Las Rocas Garnacha was $36; over 3.5X the cost from BJs). I liked the options for a red and a white flight, but only one sample of each flight was up to par. I'd go back, but for something else.

I hadn't been here in many years, and was pleased to find that it's still a great place for suburban dining. My dinner started with a delightful martini made with an organic meyer lemon vodka, st germain, and freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice. It was probably the best lemony martini I've ever had. I had a simple dinner of mussels and a salad. The mussels themselves were fabulous, although I thought the broth was a tad bland. The mixed greens salad was very good, My husband started his meal with lentil soup. The soup was very tasty but a little light on lentils. His dinner entree, short rib stroganoff, was delicious. I like that most of their entrees are available in half portions. I hope to try their Sunday jazz brunch sometime.

Went to Bulllfinchs last night with friends. Beautiful decor and great staff. However I ordered the Nicole chicken. Bland as ever, chicken was dry and there was hardly any seasoning. The tortellini that came with the dish was over cooked. Not a pleasant meal for myself. My husband tried the short rib dinner and enjoyed it. I tasted his meal and it was good. I would probably go back but would definitely try something different.
I wanted to go to Bullfinchs to enjoy a Sunday Jazz brunch last weekend with my Father since I had enjoyed a lovely time many years ago before we went Vegan. So my wife and I called them to make arrangements, unfortunately the staff were clueless about the needs of a Vegan diet. I want to like the place since I know the restaurant and the jazz are great, however, I found a great alternative in SkipJacks in Foxboro.

Every time we go there,we are very pleased. The service is professional and very friendly. The Menu is only one page but there something for every ones taste. We try something new on each visit but after six visits, we haven't gone through the menu yet.It is the most relaxing atmosphere and the Jazz Band is terrific.Sunday Jazz Brunch can't be beat !!!!!!.The Cocktails are unique and very tasty, but don't order a Bloody Mary. It is nothing you would ever order again and tasted nothing like a "Bloody Mary" should taste like.We will go back, soon !!!!!!!
In an age of chain-store blandness and homogenized decor, Bullfinch's is a shining example of the value of independent restaurants. This family-owned establishment has been serving some of the best food in the Metro West area for 30 years, and we have never had a bad experience here. On the contrary, we chose Bullfinch's to host our bridal shower luncheon and wedding rehearsal dinner. Chef Scott Richardson's constantly changing menu is creative but not pretentious. The cuisine is pretty much straight-ahead continental; you won't find a lot of ethnic influences. It's hard to pick a favorite menu item because the selection changes so much. You can't really go wrong with anything. Seafood is always fresh. The pasta is particularly good. The hostess always greets us as if we're old friends, and we've never had a wait if we made a reservation (Open Table accepted). Bullfinch's bar pours a generous cocktail. Our servers have always been courteous and efficient, though on our last visit we were charged for a cognac we never received. The dining room can feel cramped at times, especially when part of the space is taken up by a party. We recommend a seat in the back room. Chef Scott holds regular cooking school sessions on typically slow Tuesday evenings. They're a great value. For $50 (as of this writing), you get a full multi-course dinner with wine pairings and a lesson in how to cook everything you eat. We've taken a couple of his classes and learned a lot. Our most recent dinner at Bullfinch's came in at a shade under $90 without tip. That included an appetizer, two cocktails, two entrees, a dessert and tea. Bullfinch's isn't the cheapest restaurant in the area, but we've found it to be a great value for the quality of the experience.

Had a great dinner with my wife and daughters on a Sunday night. I had a filet that was was cooked just right. The kids menu is quite nice to, not to mention free on Sundays. My daughter next to me had a petite filet that was prepared nicely also. The ambiance is pleasant with dimmed lighting and light jazz. I would highly recommend this place to a family looking for an above average and low key dining experience.

Brunch for 12 yesterday and it was great. With the exception of a few special which they were out of I would have given Bullfinchs five stars plus. We were early (11:45 AM) and yet special were out....Service was fantastic, atmosphere great.. I had the best lobster benedict I've had in a long time and followed it with bread pudding, out of this world. Everyone else had great meals also...we will all be back. I've already made reservations for Feb. tmm

Finally did buffet. Nice, not great, but nice. That blonde is still belligerent. Nice jazz, great prices. Food is ok, good menu. Food doesn't wow you, but it's worth the tab. Place is dark though.

Ahhh, Bullfinchs. I genuinely want to like your food as much as I like your atmosphere. The only analogy I could deem appropriate to explain my thoughts is that it's very much akin to liking someone based solely on their physical appearance -- you know there's something missing and that it's superficial but overlook it due to the overwhelming attraction. I'd rate this place 5 for ambience, and 2.5 for food. This was a lovely, tastefully decorated restaurant with an equally lovely ambience courtesy of the jazz ensemble playing when we came here for Sunday Brunch last weekend. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating, but it took forever for our food and drinks to come out. The bartending was really subpar, I had to send my drink back (the Flirtini) because it tasted like nail polish remover on ice. Several other people didn't finish their drinks either because they were so bad. The mimosa that I got instead was nasty. The food, meh. The best part was the little plates of scones and coffee cakes that they give you to munch on.I ordered the frittata special and it was overcooked. The toast that came with it was ok, it wasn't homemade or anything but still tasted all right. It definitely was not worth $12. Other members of our party had food issues too, like Eggs Benedict being cooked all the way through. I would come back here again just because it's so beautiful. It's tucked away in a shopping plaza but feels like a private oasis inside and out. I loved that.

We were first-timers. Warm decor throughout the restaurant. Observed many regulars receive friendly welcomes. Long waits throughout meal, including while waiter conversed about his personal business with return guests who were seated after us whose order he took as we waited to give ours. Found a drink that we did not order on our bill. Waiter removed it. Food up to reviews overall. Panko chicken was delicious though rice on side was dry and bland. Lobster special done well. Would have returned for the food but left feeling as if we had barged in on someone else's event.

I was here for an office function this past week and I had a really nice time. I had a nice house salad to start followed by the beef wellington and some bread pudding. The salad was nice, fresh and tasty. The I had asked for the wellington to be medium-rare to medium, and it came medium-well. The other odd thing about it was that instead of being a nice fillet, it was two thinly cut steaks put together in the middle of the puff-pastry. It was still tasty, but not quite what it should have been. My bread pudding was good, but a bit bland. All-in-all, the food was good, but not excellent. I would like to say that I thought that the waitstaff was excellent. They were very friendly and prompt with the food. I know it can be tough with a party of 15+, but they did a great job with it.

I and the wife got a chance to have an all adult meal, thanks to the in-laws babysitting the girls. We picked Bullfinchs, close to home and reading all the reviews - seemed like a quaint gourmet restaurant and .... It Sure Is!! The food and the ambience were spectacular! We started with two appetizers, The Crab Cakes - Were so moist, fresh & full of flavor and the pineapple relish was a nice mix to the overall taste; The Goat Cheesy Fries - are TDF (To Die For) Scalloped potatoes with hot melted goat cheese topped with bacon & scallions.. Life just got better after that! For the Entrees, we were so glad to know that each one on the menu comes in two sizes - Petite & Dinner; since we had already cleaned the appetizer plates both of us got petite size entrees. Wife got the Haddock served with Cheddar Baked Potatoes & Chives.. Broiled to perfection and fresh from the sea flavor.. Brilliant, I got the Fillet Mignon which comes topped with blue cheese & loads of cracked pepper sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes and fried leeks.. It was crazy good, the blue cheese and pepper combination went superbly with the meat. The only disappointment on the evening was the Dessert, we shared a Crème Brulee which was not crusty on the top as one would expect and was just average. The overall experience was great; we will definitely come here again (on our next adult night) and recommend it to folks looking for a nice gourmet meal in the Metrowest area.

When I go out to brunch, I go to Bullfinch's. hands down the best option in the area. Sometimes it gets a little crowded, but it is worth it. This is also a good date night option. Casual yet still a bit more upscale than other local options.

A gem! I have never had a bad meal at Bullfinch's -- and I have driven 20 miles to come here. The dishes are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. There is a lot of creativity that brings new tastes to standard dishes. Do not miss it.
We came here for Sunday brunch. The live jazz music was great for the background and added to the atmosphere nicely. We came for a special occassion and it was treated as such. The waitress and hostess greeted us, put a great orange balloon on our table and ended our meal with a wonderful lava cake to share. Our brunch was delicious. I had the bullfinch breakfast which had two eggs, sweet potato and potato hash browns, bacon and toast. And my boyfriend had the eggs benedict with a side of sausage. When they mean sausage, they do not mean two teeny links. Think more of the real italian sausage! So, I urge you to come here with an appetite. I would love to come back here for dinner and experience what the atmosphere is like then.

I've been to Bullfinch's twice since my last review and despite a bit of a letdown in the first visit the high standards I have become familiar with were back on display this weekend. There are only two problems I have with Bullfinch's 1. I can never decide what to order. Do I go with something different as I did this time (The Huevos Rancheros - which were excellent) or stick with something I know is excellent. I shouldn't have to suffer such hard decisions so early on a Sunday morning. And once I do decide they throw the specials at me which requires a wholesale re-think of my brunch plans. 2. I need a nap immediately after leaving. Thank goodness for the good coffee because without it I would certainly need to take a multiple hours long nap after downing the pounds of food I cannot stop eating while there. Truth be told, those are two pretty good problems to have!

Very pleased with the meal we had at Bullfinchs. We had the duck, salmon, and daisy's chicken and calamari to start. The duck was very tender and delicious. Of the three dishes, while the chicken was good, it was probably the least spectacular. I also LOVED the MASSIVE balloon they had at our table!

We visited Bullfinch's for our very first time for Sunday Jazz Brunch and Oh. Man. Was it great. For one thing, I never realized how lacking in jazz music our traditional Sunday brunches are. The interior was elegant, cozy and welcoming. Before we even had time to order our mimosas (and there were plentiful brunchy sparkling wine spritzers to choose from) our server brought out a little "bread basket" with warm scones, muffin and coffee cake. All three were divine; buttery, soft, and clearly baked that morning. If you are at all in doubt as to whether this is the brunch for you, check out their menu. All the items were inspired and every bit as good as they sounded. We enjoyed the potato pancakes with smoked salmon, capers, red onion & tomato, a steak and fancy cheese scramble, and all involved were curious about the breakfast pizza, topped with a poached egg! While items are a *little* pricey ($9-$12) as compared to a diner, the portions were more than filling and just oh so good. Also, the beer was about $4 a glass, which is not a bad deal at all. Four restaurant snobs agree: Bullfinch's serves a lovely brunch.

I've been here a couple of times - it was ok the first time and very disappointing this last time. We had the steak - mine was accompanied by mashed potatoes and what were supposedly fried leeks. The steak was pretty good, the potatoes standard and the leeks horrible. They looked like someone has taken the green parts of the leek (you know, the part you don't eat) and broiled them or something. Except that they were also kind of greasy. Brown, limp, greasy and gross. The bread had been reheated. My husband's fries were below average. The price was high.

So as we all know Wednesday was St. Patrick's Day, I really didn't have anything planned because I had worked most of the day and was just going to go home and relax . I felt bad because I usually do something for St. Patrick's Day and this year I just couldn't decided what to do. My fiance was craving corned beef and cabbage last night but brushed it off, then later when he woke up from his nap he told me, "for the past 21 years I have always had corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day and I'm not breaking tradition." So off we went in search off corned beef & cabbage and a good pint of Guinesses. I had received an email from Bullfinchs about $13 St. Patrick's Day dinners and we were sold. So off we went to Sudbury and it was definitely worth the drive. All the staff got into the festive spirit of wearing green and were very friendly and polite. We had a reservation for 8pm and we only had to wait ten minutes while they cleared the table, despite the fact that the restaurant was busy. I loved the table set up, thought the only issue I had about the experience was that the tables need to be a little bigger they were a tad on the small side. One of the points of interest that I like about the seating was that on one side of the tables there was a long wooden bench that was upholstered and had pillows on it very unique idea. The overall decor was intimate, cozy, and romantic and it was nice that they had Irish music playing in the background, not too loud but just loud enough that you could still have a conversation with someone and not be shouting to be heard. I really loved the fact that they had these encased glass windows with flames shooting out of some contrapcion, but it was very cool. So on the to the most important part of the evening the food. We started off with soup & salad. I had a house salad and my fiance had the soup of the day and in honor of St. Patrick's Day it was potato, bacon, and ham. The house salad was one of the best salads I've ever eaten they didn't douse the salad in dressing it was just the right amount and there was cranberries, goat cheese, and walnuts and it was delicious. My fiance loved his soup saying it was comforing and very tasty. Then on to the main course we both got the corned beef and cabbage dinner and they were very generous with the corn beef, we had leftovers! The corned beef was so moist and juicy it was practically fall apart I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The cabbage was decent as well and the potatoes were heavenly, but the best part.... was the sauce that came on the corned beef, which was a cream sauce. It was so savory and not too overpowering it gave the corned beef a little something extra, it was perfect. I also had a Guinesses in true Irish fashion and it was very tasty as well. Then finally we shared dessert, which was key lime pie and I have to say that was the best key lime pie I've ever had. There was just enough tang from the lime without it being too tart and the crust was so flaky it was perfect. The overall bill was was $60.00 which was not too bad for all the great food and service we got. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be making future dinner reservations there.

Had dinner there a couple weeks ago. Very impressed with the menu. Wait staff was excellent. I would recommend when making reservations to request the main dining area. The back dining area is fine, but a little cramped. We had the Goat Cheesy Fries as an appetizer. Crazy? Yes. But absolutely delicious. Thumbs up. I had the New England Haddock. Outstanding. Friend had Beef Wellington. Amazing. Glad she couldn't eat the whole thing. I was more than happy to assist. The dessert was insane. Whatever you do, order the Four Berry Crisp. Here's what it is: fresh strawberries, black berries, blueberries and raspberries baked in a crock and topped with crisp crumble; served with vanilla ice cream. Sounds fine, as-is. But whatever the heck they do to make it amazing is beyond me. They won't tell. But it's the best dessert I've ever had. Atmosphere was great. Thumbs up.

Love this place. My husband and I have been here a few times since moving to town and have not been disappointed yet. Our favorite menu item are the fish tacos for sure. They are SO good and I highly recommend them! Love when they have wine flight options and the wine that I have tried there have been very tasty. It's nice to have a local place that serves great quality food in a nice but still comfortable place. I have not been to the brunch yet but hear it's great. Can't wait to give it a try. I also would love to try the cooking classes....if only I could find a 5 star baby sitter.....

Beverage: Reisling, Kreuzancher Kronenberg Appetizer: Calamari & Ceasar Salad Entrees: Braised Short Ribs & Chicken Veronese The patio was nice and very clean! The service was awesome (we had Cindy!) The manager was very welcoming and pleasant. The wine was delicious and fruity! My boyfriend enjoyed the calamari, but the ceasar dressing was a little too creamy for my taste. I I got the Chicken Veronese... the chicken was tender and the sauce was tasty, but there were only a few "cheese pocket" pastas in the entree size. My boyfriend got the Braised Short Ribs and raved about how he didn't need a knife they were so tender, but he wasn't crazy about the "crashed potatoes" a little bland. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back :o)

A family favorite. Not the place to go if you are looking for a healthy meal, but what fine dining restaurant is? This place is the real deal. They understand good food, but also understand that their guests deserve an enjoyable dining experience as well. Superb atmosphere. We have also attended their cooking school which is really more like a demonstration with meal provided and wine pairings. Also extremely enjoyable and the chef/co-owner who did our class was so knowledgeable even though he never went to culinary school! He also offers this thing, I think it called Gorilla Chef or Gorilla Kitchen, something like that..either way the chef goes into your kitchen and creates you a meal on the fly just based on the ingredients in your kitchen. We told our Mom that she had to do it with all of the random ingredients she has packed in her cabinets and drawers! How cool! You just call the restaurant to sign up.

We enjoyed Easter brunch at Bullfinchs. Service and food were terrific. We also thought the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of food. As someone else mentioned, my son and husband went nuts for the bacon. I enjoyed the egg white scrambler and took about half of it home. The scones and muffins that came to the table were excellent as well. Easter specials sounded good (Ham, Leg of Lamb) but we were in a breakfast mood. We plan to return for Mothers' Day brunch.

The jazz brunch was great! Perfect spot for a classy meal. The only complaint I sort of have is that we waited for a table for about 20 minutes even though we'd made a reservation and the service was a tad slow. If you're not in a hurry, you wont be disappointed. There were apologies all around for the wait and the service was very nice -- one of my cocktails was on the house because of the wait, actually. Always a nice touch plus the food and cocktails were super! I recommend the hibiscus martini. The band was good, perhaps a little loud, but we were sitting right next to it. I was suprised at how reasonably priced the meal was. All in all, very nice place. I'll definitely go again.

This place is not the best place I've eaten at but it is definitely not the worst. The ambiance was great but the food was only average. A lot of the ingredients are very generic and plain, and the dishes I tasted had very little zang. The service was also subpar as we waited for some time for our food, and our server was very rude. I might come back to try the brunch but I think there are better options in the area for dinner.

I just came here with my two daughters (ages 11 and 9). We really like Bullfinch's when we want to dress up and have a special meal. I appreciate their vegetarian menu (ask for it) and the excellent food. This is super kid friendly, but with pretty decor and lovely atmosphere. The service is always attentive, friendly and efficient without rushing you through a good meal. They also pour very generous glasses of wine. Another great restaurant in Sudbury!

Consistently good food and service. Good with and without kids.

A solid restaurant - have eaten here a dozen times in the past 10 years and have never had a bad meal. Appropriate for date night or a family dinner. I like the smaller vs larger entree option. Recently had Casear salad and a petite filet with mushroom ravioli. Good desserts, especially the pumpkin cheesecake and apple crisp.

Great for a romantic dinner, or a relaxed Sunday brunch. Decent selection of wines and spirits. Make sure to sign up for their card program, as they do occasional special offers... they recently had a $15 lobster dinner special, which was a great deal.

Great atmosphere inside. They even have outdoor dinning (of couse, weather permitting). Went for the 1st time for Sunday brunch. The were promptly seated (had reservations) but it took a long time for our server to come over. And then at the end of our meal - she took for ever to take our charge cards. I'm not sure if she was overwhelmed, but the restaurant wasn't very busy. Food was ok - nothing special. Price was fine. I'd go back for dinner - just hope we have a different waiter.

Right with another reviewer about the strip mall. We were deterred from the place until we read reviews. The beer list here was a pleasant surprise, German & Belgian ales that are a rarity I'm finding. Wine list also had some of my favorites on there which again, is rare. Caesar salad was really good. I had the chicken schnitzel and I probably would've been fine with the half portion but got the large portion-some to take home. It was something I'd order again but not something I'd rave about. All other people seemed content with their meals too. For dessert I had the blondie brownie sundae, which I definitely did not need but was glad I ordered it-it hit the spot (not sure which spot that is) Our server needed some bolstering to his personality....seemed polite but overwhelmed and very impersonal. Perhaps he was new. In any case, we'll definitely be going back here in the hopes that we have a different server.

Went there for a "cooking class." This place is just that. All class. Greeted by friendly faces. The restaurant itself had a classic upscale irish pub look to it. Food was incredible and the chef prepared all courses in front of us. Very fresh crab cakes and mussels. Filet was great, Creme Brule' outstanding. Chef described what he was preparing, how he came to open the restaurant, how the wait staff have been there a long time(very telling of a few things), and he answered all of our sorted questions. Service was great. Food great. Atmosphere great. Value great. This was a treat

We had our wedding reception at Bullfinch's, and they did a beautiful job. I barely did a thing to prepare, which was exactly what I wanted. I just got to sit back and trust that Peggy (the owner) would take care of all the details, and she truly did. The bartender was out-of-this-world good (our friends did a surprisingly healthy job of testing her, considering it was a luncheon reception), and the chefs went out of their way to prepare gluten-free and allergy-friendly dishes for those that needed them. I'd recommend Bullfinch's for any event with 100 or fewer people. P.S. Don't be scared off by the location right on Rte. 20. The ambiance inside (and under the tent, weather permitting) makes you forget that cars are zipping by outside.

We've eaten here a few times, and it's been good, even great. We haven't been in awhile because of the decor, really. Unless they've toned things down; eating there used to be like being in some sort of Barbara Cartland Nightmare. Too, too, much. Too much lace, and drippy things, and chandeliers melting with pearls, and fake flowers. Shabby Chic on LSD. Makes me uncomfortable.

Had a wonderful late night meal here on a Sunday. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing and they treated us wonderfully. Didn't know what we felt like for wine and they soon brought out 3 for us to try! For apps we had the fired oysters, baked brie and the potatoes with goat cheese and chives.... AMAZING Entrees were the beet salad for the veggie among us (there are other veggie options), the beef wellington and the lobster pasta. All were hits. Also loved the pietinis at the end!

Yummy. First time we ordered two aps from the menu. The calamari was delicious as were the Asian dumplings - more like a spring roll than a typical dumpling. We arrived before dinner started so we sat outside on the patio and it was very nice even though route 20 is steps away. Last night on a return trip we sat at the bar. Chris the bartender provided great service to us, We decided to split an ap special - cheese filled ravioli with pesto. It was so good we ordered another to share. We will be back.

Delicious and very homey!!! I went there for the first time tonite for an early Mother's Day dinner (my parents RAVED about it) and it was exceptional. Fresh, light, and super tasty. I had the duckling and it was sooo good and just the right serving. My dad got the daisy's chicken and my mother had the special of the night sirloin with jumbo shrimp. EVERYTHING WAS SOOO GOOD. We started off the night with the mussells (which come with two huge slices of garlic bread) and some goose pate. Even their bread basket (er, plate hehe) was yummie and you could dip it in some fresh garlic olive oil. The wine was superb, I got a glass of Ch.St.Michelle Riesling which they recommended for my dish (I forgot what my dad got, some merlot) and we ended the night with the Butterscotch Creme Brulee (a must!!!) and a Chocolate Cake Martini and a round of coffee and teas. I got the Cheesecake Trio to go (they're bite sized and look delicious!! It's for a late nite snack tonite) and next time I want to try the Key Lime Souffle and Chocolate Lava Cake. The staff was so wonderful and friendly it was like eating at someone's house. A MUST MUST MUST!!! Edit: April 7, 2008 Just came here yesterday for their Sunday brunch! AMAZING!!! The bacon is so fresh and juicy. They give a plate of warm freshly baked blueberry scones (and muffins if you request/more ppl) with butter and jam as a free starter. I got the egg white scrambler. DELISH!!! My mom got the Bullfinch breakfast, super hearty and my dad got their French Toast.... SUPPPERB!!! If it's your bday they give you a large balloon.. and since they got our toast order wrong (we wanted wheat, the gave us white) & we had to wait 10-15 to get seated (we had reservations but they were running late due to a charity event).. even tho we didn't complain at all (the food as that great) they gave us all free desserts!!! I LOOOVE this restaurant. I have never been displeased with food + service!!!

Went to Bullfinchs bar the other night for drinks with my mom and cousin and was very happy we did. The atmosphere was relaxed, but the underlying "cool bar" vibe was still there. No loud music, no obnoxious people, just a great place to enjoy. We shared three appetizers which were fabulous (the goat cheese "fries" were amazing!!!). And when I asked the bartender if he would mind making me a drink using lemoncello (they were out of lemonade being a very hot day), he didn;t even hesitate. I highly recommend this great stop!

My first review last February was great, loved it! However, after having dinner their on a recent week night I won't be returning. I ordered the same entree as before but this time it was totally different, dry, blah. no sauce...potato pancakes tasted OK but very greasy. The bread was horribly but re-warmed, yuck. The service (sat at the bar) was marginal. What Happened? Won't be returning there anytime soon.

I don't know why people like this place. They must be comparing it to the Olive Garden. Went last week because a friend wanted to meet there. Never fails to disappoint!!! They think they can get high end Boston prices for awful food. They even charge extra for veg and potatoes!!! Try one of the good places in Boston and then come back and compare. You'll be embarrassed that you wrote a good review.

My wife and I really enjoy going to Bullfinchs. The food and service is always great - though it's on the pricey side (but it's in Sudbury, so what do you expect). I always find it to be a nice relaxed, quiet dinner. Hoping to try the outside dinner when spring/summer get here.

I liked this place. I didn't fall over backwards about it, but it is just one of those places where the locals go to get a good, affordable steak, coupled with a nice martini and a reasonably priced wine list with a good selection. It is one of those places you go to when you don't feel like cooking, but you want a good meal. It is one of those places that you pray for when traveling away from home while on business. The bar is a perfect place for an intimate dinner for two after a long work day.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place and decided to come here on a Friday night with my girlfriend. We made reservations for 7:30 and were seated promptly which was nice...but that was the end of the good service. We waited at least 10 minutes before our waitress even talked to us. When she finally stopped at our table she practically threw two glasses of water on our table spilling it and not even apologizing. When we said we would stick with water for now, she basically gave us the cold shoulder for the rest of the night. She came back to take our order for appetizers, I got the fried calamari and my girlfriend got a salad. I waited almost half an hour before I asked the waitress about our order and she said it was on its way. Oh and she neglected to bring us bread until we asked. People at the table next to us arrived after us and got their appetizers before us. I got the beef short ribs as a meal and my girlfriend got the seared tuna. Both were pretty good and the two stars I gave are solely based on the food. Service was pretty bad.
Love this restaurant. It's local for me and I've been there many times over the years and even ordered takeout (pretty fancy for the usual takeout). The owner and her son are there most of the time and very attentive to service. The food is delicious and plentiful. The pasta is good and so is the beef. The desserts are scrumptious. It is a special place and a great restaurant for a birthday or business dinner.

I love this place. I've been several times for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. I've never had a bad meal. All of the dishes I've had were creative and tasty. They even have a separate vegetarian menu with more than one choice!!! Not a cheap dinner though, save for a special night!

Have been here a few times , always had great food and service
We just had an excellent dinner here to celebrate my wife's Birthday. It's really nice to see local places like these in bedroom communities continue to keep quality up -- many of the higher end places in the 'burbs start strong and spiral down over time. Atmosphere was lively even with an older crowd. We had two good bar drinks from their "custom" menu and a glass of house Chilean cab (VERY healthy pour!). App was solid, not spectacular. Our server had a good sense of humor, presented specials well, and was attentive but we weren't hounded. The entrees came out (seeming to be) plated hot and fresh from the kitchen (don't you hate getting cold sides because it waited for the protein too long?!) Quite honestly, the Filet with Bleu w/"crashed" potatoes my wife ordered was way better than similar dishes I've had downtown Boston. Excellent sized filet delicious flavor and cooked perfectly! It was also nice to have them recognize a birthday how they did. Class act. As I said walking out, "we'll be back."

The food is good, but after you've been there a few times... you get a little bored. Here's why: the menu never changes. It never changes. There are always the same options and it gets a little tiresome. If you want to go for the first time, go. The restaurant has a romantic, dark, candlelit atmosphere, the food is very good and the prices aren't insane. The service is fine.

I came here for brunch with my family after I tried on wedding dresses for the very first time next door at Dream. I didn't know that the live jazz, which was cool, would be so loud. I could barely hear my dad and his opinions across the table from me. The food was good though, I would definitely come back for dinner and drinks with my fiance.

Really good brunch on Sundays with a live band. There is also outdoor seating under a patio. Food: great. Had the braised beef special with potatoes and sweet potatoes and poached eggs. This is why it earns 4 stars. And the pastry basket was pretty awesome. Service: great service, nice people. Overall not one complaint.

i attended a private event here that began at 2pm on sunday, towards the end of their brunch service. we caught the tail end of the live jazz and it was terrific. the staff did a fine job dealing with a group of around 20 old hippies, several of whom hadn't seen each other in nearly 40 years, regaling their friend on his 60th birthday. they have a very comfortable room towards the back of the restaurant that is perfect for such events and it was set up beautifully. things started off very friendly and efficiently with a cocktail hour. we had a head server and he had a couple of helpers who kept us all happy and managed to corral us to our tables when it was time to order. when our food came, things got a bit confused as the person delivering the food didn't seem to know who got what. i had what was billed as a caesar salad which was the inner part of a head of romaine sliced in half lengthwise, smothered in cheese and not too much dressing, with croutons on the side. whilst artful, it wasn't particularly easy to eat and it had too much cheese. for my entree i chose the alsatian pasta with shrimp, which was delicious. it had 3 large grilled shrimp on top and fresh tomatoes and other goodness throughout. others at the table had the salmon, and the short ribs, which both looked good. for dessert we had a scrumptious red velvet cake which wasn't icky sweet! nice icing. all in all, a very good experience and i would eat here again.

Came here for Sunday brunch with live jazz. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought over a balloon for our table and complimentary brownie sundae at the end of the meal. Very nice touches! Table of 8 and we all cleaned our plates. Delicious breakfast pastries were served right when we sat down. All so yummy!Huevos rancheros was super tasty, good coffee, decent Bloody Mary. Atmosphere is really nice. Good for couples or larger groups. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Absolutely recommend! Hope to try their dinner menu sometime soon!

I am new to sudbury and went here for dinner and thought it was really excellent. The food was great as was the service - the patio is very nicely done. I ordered the tuna which was delicious and got the dessert sampler that was really excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurants and look forward to going back!

Haven't been in ages and then ended coming two weekends in a row! Forgot how awesome their service is! Great for kids with with a bargain $10 deal (includes drink, entree & dessert) Usually kids meals are kinda crappy, but they do it up right here! The pasta had regular portions and the sauce was good, not just the regular tomato sauce. Highlights: Yummy warm rolls with good olive oil! Love the dessert sampler!

I've been holding off on writing my 200th review until I felt like I found a restaurant that holds a special place in my heart. Bullfinchs wins! I've had the pleasure of coming here twice now, and both the food and the experience have left me feeling warm and fuzzy about this place. I've had the Alsatian Pasta both times, which is delicious- a simple combination of scallions, tomatoes, and a savory, just-rich-enough butter sauce. I also love the beet salad. I was just about to write that I wish that there were more pasta and veggie options since I'm not a big meat eater, but I just noticed on their website that they offer a separate vegetarian menu (and also gluten-free and kids' menus!), which I will DEFINITELY be asking for next time! So that's awesome. The people that I've brought here have also raved about the steak and chicken dishes that they've ordered. Hell, even the bread and butter are delicious, and are often served hot from the oven. The drinks are also amazing- I'm especially partial to the Apple Ginger White Sangria. I've also tried the Lisa's Passion (vodka, passionfruit, pomegranate, and lime), which one time was much stronger than the other. They're not cheap ($11 each), but I find that it's worth it, which I rarely say. They have a great selection of wines as well, including two of my favorite Rieslings. The desserts are delicious as well- last time, I had some kind of key lime tart, my husband had the flourless chocolate cake, and our friend had a berry crumble- all wonderful. The service is lovely. The first time that we visited, a manager was standing at the front talking with people as they came and went- this served its purpose of making me feel personally welcomed, which I always notice and appreciate so much. The waitress upon our first visit was also fantastic- professional but warm, talkative, and personal. The atmosphere here is somewhere between modern sophistication and rustic warmth. When it's warm, they have a really pretty lounge and outdoor seating area with string lights overhead. Inside, it's dimly lit. This is a great place for a date or a dinner with close friends or family- I would bring anyone I like here! Seriously, give it a try for a special occasion- it's not a cheap place, but it's worth every dollar. I hope to try their brunch and cooking classes in the future as well! An update (6/10/14): I came here for my birthday last night with my husband, which we didn't mention to anyone because I'm not a big fan of fanfare or being the center of attention. But when we mentioned at the end of the meal that we were out for my birthday, our waitress left for a moment and returned with a giant balloon, a piece of birthday cake (their amazing flourless chocolate cake with a candle in it, I might add), and a gift card to the restaurant. This was so touching to me- it's really these kinds of gestures that elevate a special occasion and make me so glad that I chose to come here for my birthday. It's official: I love this place.

What a find. Been by this place a ton of times over the years and for some reason we never stopped to try it. Thank goodness we finally did. What a cool vibe you feel as soon as you walk in. Very cool place inside. Nice lighting, great bar and really relaxing atmosphere. We tried a few appetizers and they were all fantastic. If they have their mushroom soup, order it stat. It was unreal. I ordered their house chicken dinner and it was so good. It actually is habit forming good. I crave it now. The service was fantastic. I have to say I am so glad we finally stopped by to try this place. I strongly suggest you make reservations or you will be waiting a while on a Friday or Saturday night. Place was packed. After you eat here you will see why they are so crowded. Enjoy!

For the money, this restaurant really disappoints. With the fairly limited menus, you'd think that what they offered would be special -- or at least good. The Bolognese was "okay", the meat was tender -- but the choice of pasta with the brown sauce made it seem as if I was dining on a bowl of worms (see separate photo). My wife had the filet, which seemed like a safe choice. The steak (cooked medium-rare as ordered) was full of stringy veins and smothered (and not in a good way) with tons of blue cheese which dominated the flavor to an extreme degree. The "goat cheesy fries" were the best part of the meal. While they were fairly good, they weren't great. Sorry Bullfinch's, 1 star for you.

We visited Bullfinches in April for the jazz brunch. It was our first visit. It won't be our last. We were celebrating a 60th birthday, and all 10 members of our party were thrilled with their meals. And the music was fantastic! We've been to the Bee Hive in Boston for a jazz brunch, and Bullfinchs is better in every way. We are already looking forward to returning!

Wow. I am a big fan! Never heard of this place, I don't live nearby, I have friends in the area who picked it out for our weekly dinner. I was completely blown away by the genuinely kind and attentive staff and the seriously delicious food. My favorites were the apps. Baked brie with apple chutney was stellar. Goat cheese fries also recommended.

A beautifully decorated restaurant that had a warm cozy and inviting atmosphere. It was definitely busy and bustling but no too loud or overbearing. Our waiter did a wonderful job tending to or needs and was relaxed and pleasant. He brought plenty of rolls to the table without asking and didn't let anything run out but was also not hovering. We had a party of 12 and things went smoothly. Two people got the but crusted chicken and mentioned it was very sweet, like a dessert. The regular menu is on line so I called ahead. They have a separate vegetarian and gluten free menu but you need to ask for it. It's a simple scaled back listing but works. They were able to cook a vegan dish upon request. We started with the pan fried veggie dumplings which were crispy on the outside and most and soft on the inside. They were served hot Werth two sauces and I'd highly recommend them. I ordered the Asian stir fry veggies with rice and Mr G. got the Shitake mushroom dish. He was very pleased with it and the flavors. Mine was good but a bit in the salty side. Not sure if that is simply because I've lowered salt intake and my senses may be more heightened. We both left full and happy and would go back again.

Bullfinch's is my husband's and my date night spot. This place is where to go when you want to feel part of the family. Peggy, the owner, knows almost everyone, if you're celebrating something special then people around you will say a kind word (while not getting too nosy), and every table is cozy and comfortable. We try something different every time and always enjoy the food, the wine pairings, the latest beer selection, and more.

We loved everything about this place. Our server was great. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Cosmopolitan tasted as it should. The appetizers were particularly good and a little different. Try the dumplings. We'll be back for sure.
My friend and I were staying in Framingham last night and her coworker recommended Bullfinchs for dinner. We called ahead and were told it was a quiet night - no reservation needed. We showed up and were seated right away (although there appeared to be a short wait for parties bigger than 2). Our server (Jenae) was the best. She was so cheerful and fun to talk to - we wish she could have sat down to dinner with us! We loved her love of Sriracha!! Our food was delicious, although our eyes were too big for our bellies and we had to take most of our entrees home. Next time we will plan better! If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely stop back. Thanks for an awesome dining experience!

Surprisingly good and sophisticated food in the burbs of Boston. I was in Sudbury on business (from a large West Coast city) and saw a good review on Yelp so went. Even as a jaded foodie I was blown away by the care and execution of the dishes. Like others I loved the goat cheese they use here. I asked and learned that is local, but the point is that the chef clearly cares about his raw ingredients and suppliers. Always a good sign. Terrific service as well. I will go back, no doubt. I wish them well.

Went here while staying in a cabin near Walden Pond with my girlfriend for New Years Eve. Food and service were amazing. Prices were very good for the area as well. If you go try one of the signature drinks and the bread pudding. They are also making an effort to have mainly craft/local beers on tap/available.

Don't waste your time or money!! Shitty food, attitudes, and service! Was recently there for dinner as a 4 top and was served skirt stake as a "petite filet". Upon calling the waitress over was informed that it was a filet (20 years of restaurant service and management under my belt, I know what a filet is), then when sent it back due to be over cooked, she informed us that it was "part of a larger cut and trimmed down to be filet so the temperature was hard to maintain". Seriously?? Who trains these servers?? Asked for manager and said he was unable to come to the table. One of the people in the party emailed the owner with no response. This is the customer that USED TO GO to Bullcraps once a month, no longer! The owner contacted another person in the group since it was her number on the reservation and told her that he was sorry about their experience after asking her if she was sure it wasn't a filet. Piss poor management can kill any good restaurant. All the manager on duty (or the owner the next day), had to do was issue a gift card or comp the meal and I'm sure everyone would have tried the restaurant again. But since they don't/didn't seem to care, I'm taking the time to write a review here and on other media outlets telling people to NEVER go there. I know the people I was with will never go back. If looking for steak on Rt. 20 in that area, I'd recommend Wildwood, Fuji Hibachi, Coach Grill, or even Firefly's Barbecue. I wouldn't have fed that "filet mignon" to a dog that I didn't like!!

Bullfinches is still a great player in my culinary rotation. Resides in that perfect not too fancy or pretentious but good for the whole family spot, without degenerating into a poor choice for varying ages, backgrounds, and tastes. I had a great rib eye steak with pumpkin gnocchi. Asked for a side of soy sauce (try it on your steak) which came with an undertone of infused garlic. The waitresses agreed that her soy sauce at home doesn't taste like BF, and I said it must contain an addictive chemical. The folks that run BF are friendly and accommodating. Great spot in the burbs.

This was a first visit for me. It was a busy Saturday night but, we were seated immediately. We had a reservation, but, actually our friends were already seated and it was early. I tend to begin my evaluation with the bread which passed the test. It was warm and delicious. When we told the waitress we were sharing the Caesar salad, she divided it up onto two plates and it was delicious. I loved that I could order a "petite" salmon meal as I am not a big eater. The fish was perfectly cooked, and I loved the accompanying vegetables. I would definitely return for another meal here.

We really wanted to like Bullfinch's. We had dinner there for Valentine's day, probably in 2012, and weren't impressed but wrote it off as being over-stressed due to the holiday. We decided to try their Sunday brunch. We got there just as they opened and had a reservation. We were the first ones seated and they sat us in what looked like a cute table except it was right behind where the servers hang out and gossip...loudly. We could hear all their conversations, including the one where they complained about hippies who go to farmers markets and said they like pesticides in their food. Reminder: you're at work and you work in a restaurant. The pastry plate was very good and we really appreciated that they give you that while you wait. There were scones, a blueberry muffin and a cinnamon coffee cake type pastry along with butter and jam. The drinks were ok - we had pear lemon verbena sangria which sounded awesome but just tasted like white wine. Not worth the $11. I love white sangria so I was pretty disappointed. We also had something I can't recall the name of - essentially the summer version of a dark and stormy. It was ok but very strong. For food, got the special - a tenderloin hash, and the country crepes. We asked for the sauce on the side for the crepes. They appeared to use the same dressing on the spinach salad as would have been on the crepes but only kept it on the side for the crepes. The crepes were awful. It seemed like they took a far too thick crepe, stuffed it, and baked it in butter. The crepe itself was thick and soggy/gooey. I opened it up to eat the filling but was disappointed to find a significant amount of brie rind in there, especially since the rest of the filling didn't taste like brie so I have to wonder if they just used the rinds. The tenderloin hash was good but wasn't really a hash and came with hardly any potatoes. Service was fine. We overheard another table being told more specials than we were told but no big deal. The hostess was friendly and we were seated promptly. The big issue with service was seating us so close to the server hangout. We both agreed that two strikes was enough for Bullfinch's.

Bottom line, Service was excellent. Waitress was kind and very prompt. Drinks are reasonably priced. I went with my wife and her dinner was excellent. She ordered fillet. I ordered a steak it was bland, chewy, and I needed my navy seal knife to cut into it. They were very fast to comp my meal and that was awesome considering the price. I have not seen that happen in decades and will give them thumbs up for being accountable! I will go back but would not be my first choice. The desert menu looked great but you can't have desert before your meal so went home and ate. I was looking forward to this restaurant, I was disappointed to leave hungry.

The atmosphere was very cozy and homey, the service was excellent at the bar where I had my dinner. The food was very good. My only complaint was the price of the portion provided. A small portion for the price. I ended up eating three rolls I was so hungry! I ordered the 4 oz. Filet mignon because the sirloin only comes in one size which is 12 oz. Way too much meat. No smaller portion for the sirloin, so my only meat choice for the smaller serving was the filet mignon at 22.00 with a side of fried leeks and an ice cream scoop of potatoes drizzled with bleu cheese. Its a small portion for the price.
I went here for the cooking school and I can confidently say the evening of spectacular high quality wines/food will not disappoint. The night starts off with about 15 people sitting around a U-shaped table with the chef in the front (with a large tv showing the prep area) . The Chef cooks and answers questions about anything related to the menu and even not related to the meal. The kitchen brings out what he is preparing as he prepares it so you may be eating before he is even completed the course. There was accompanying wine and in between courses they told us about the wine- why it was chosen, its merits and price point. I was expecting a bit more of a hands on experience as it was more of dinner and a demo, but the overall experience was well worth it and I highly recommend going. There were 3 or 4 well executed courses with wines. Overall amazing. They provided us with a paper with the ingredients etc for what was made, but I don't think I will even be able to duplicate it (I took horrible notes) but definitely learned a lot of kitchen pointers throughout the night! I would come back to the cooking school in a second!

The Sunday Jazz Brunch is fantastic. The food is very delicious, and the music is good. It is a fun scene.

Had dinner here last night after a long hiatus. Bottom line, the food was great, the hostesses welcoming and the ambiance relaxing. Just a couple nits - 1-the waiter, though, slightly odd, didn't introduce himself and give his name; 2- there was a significant amount of ice in my up & dirty martini, a BIG no-no, and 3- the Crème Brule was more flan like and gelatinous, rather than custardy. Those three small things aside, the layout is nice and the floor broken up into groupings of 4-6 tables which make it feel more comfortable. The Salmon tacos and Beet Salad apps were perfectly balances and scrumptious. The chicken special feat. Panko breading with a red pepper pesto and grilled asparagus *tasty*, and the Short Rib Stroganoff was buttery good with fresh pasta - almost spatzel like. Accompanied by a nice bottle of Oregon Pinot, we had a few signature drinks and a Scotch - all good, then even capped it with another couple nightcaps at the bar. We'll be back!

Food is often good-to-great...but not overly refined or finnicky. Very consistent. I like that they don't try to be French or Italian.. or over the top. They are American but a little more refined than average and some hints of eclectic and fusion. Good drinks. Live jazz is a bonus. The outside patio is hit or miss...depends on traffic noise and mosquitos. Plus, they sponsor the Wayside duck race...

Wow! What a wonderfully pleasant surprise. We came here for dessert after sushi @ Fugyakyu (awesome) and absolutely loved Bullfinchs! We had a couple specialty cocktails & both were very good. The hot buttered rum and the other one I can't remember its name but it had tequila, vanilla liqueur and some other stuff I cannot recall. They have very good bread - it is sweet and airy - it is served with both butter and oil which was very nice. The menu looks really great! I saw a roasted feta appetizer that I can't wait to try, and some entrees and other appetizers. For dessert we had a creme brûlée and the bread pudding, which changes often but last night was pecan and caramel. Can't really go wrong there, can you? Service at the bar with Brendan was top notch. Very friendly guy and took his time with every guest. And again, drinks were fabulous. The place itself is so romantic and lovely. It is like old school New England meets Classic Paris cafe. Perfect lighting and decor. Spacious bathroom. The owner was also there and she was interacting with guests which is always nice to see. They have a lot of regulars! They also host special events, like painting and cooking classes. Very cool! And Sunday jazz brunch! Can't wait to try that. Love brunch food. What a find!

(3)Keri B.
The food was 'just ok' and although beautifully presented, lacked flavor. I would probably not go back on my own.
(3)Terrify J.

(3)Hannah C.
For the 'burbs, it's okay. I ordered the prime rib special, asked for medium rare, and got medium, so I returned it and got another one. The cuts were horrible. It was a "16 ounce" cut, but 3/4 of, it was fat and it was about a 1/2 inch thick. My fiancé got the same thing, with the same exact results. If you're going out for prime rib, go to Kennedy's. The lobster bisque was also pathetic. All I tasted was butter. It was as dense as cambell's tomato soup with no texture whatsoever. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is there brunch with the live jazz band is pretty good.
(3)Andrew M.

(4)Tom H.
Very cozy atmosphere. I had the Alsatian Pasta and a few glasses of italian red. it consisted of a roasted tomato with a steamed chicken breast and pasta olive oil . Edible but needs work . the other entrees that I saw go by looked better. I would go back as the staff is very friendly and the food could be good. I think the entrées are slightly over priced but is offset by a decent pour of wine by the glass

I've already made reservations for Feb. tmm

Overdue review! Took my fiance here for his birthday. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was truly excellent. We had a great time in our little birthday corner. Thank you Bullfinch!

Fine dining, in a pub? Yep! Table cloth, interesting fusion menu and good service. An excellent choice, for a special evening.

Finally did buffet. Nice, not great, but nice. That blonde is still belligerent. Nice jazz, great prices. Food is ok, good menu. Food doesn't wow you, but it's worth the tab. Place is dark though.
(3)Caitlin G.
(3)Carole T.
Went for the brunch because so many people raved about it. Was very disappointing. The only thing I liked about it was the scone and Bloody Mary. I will not be returning.
(2)R K.

(5)Allison S.
When I go out to brunch, I go to Bullfinch's. hands down the best option in the area. Sometimes it gets a little crowded, but it is worth it. This is also a good date night option. Casual yet still a bit more upscale than other local options.
(4)Roger M.
A gem! I have never had a bad meal at Bullfinch's -- and I have driven 20 miles to come here. The dishes are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. There is a lot of creativity that brings new tastes to standard dishes. Do not miss it.
(5)Brenda W.
I went to the 20th Anniversary Jazz Brunch. Nicely decorated with a working mix of antiques and contemporary pieces. Welcoming to all. They had different bands playing during the morning. Nice transition. The food was great. I had Haddock which came with sautéed spinach and drizzled with a mustard vinaigrette. It was light and the presentation was perfect. I would highly recommend. Only suggestion was to ask for an appropriate table when making reservation. We had a table in an alcove and it was not possible to see the bands without getting out of your chair. If you want to be able to talk and have the music in the background this would be a perfect table. If you want to be closer to the action request a table closer to the band.
(4)soylinduh O.
(5)Marisa H.
Bull finches is my favorite local place to grab a glass of wine and appetizer. The bartender is always friendly and the food delicious. This place is definitely a hidden gem,- I'm a little nervous giving it away!
(4)Josh M.
(5)Jessica C.
(4)Aleta M.
(5)Margaret O.

There dinner menu didn't look that impressive but a friend took me here for Sunday Jazz Brunch where I got potato pancakes and smoked salmon! Mnnnnnnnnnnn.

(4)Larry D.
Great food & service at reasonable prices. Plus I don't need to go into Boston and pay for parking. The menu as some traditional items with some innovative dishes. All our friends enjoy coming here.
(5)Seth D.
Don't let the strip mall location dissuade you; Bullfinchs is a classy joint. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the drinks are generous. Bullfinchs is one of our favorite restaurants in Metrowest.
(5)Amy E.

(3)Susan P.
(4)Christine A.
Consistently good food and service. Good with and without kids.
(5)Kay J.
(4)Andrew H.
Great for a romantic dinner, or a relaxed Sunday brunch. Decent selection of wines and spirits. Make sure to sign up for their card program, as they do occasional special offers... they recently had a $15 lobster dinner special, which was a great deal.
(4)Steven S.
(3)Katharine O.
(4)Derrick S.

(5)Kerri O.
(4)Christy W.
(5)Freelunch L.
Sunday Jazz Brunch is great. Live Jazz band. Food is delicious and Music is great. Best scone in the area!
(4)Chris M.

(4)Tamara J.
(5)Owen E.
(2)Richard L.
(1)Doug M.
My wife and I really enjoy going to Bullfinchs. The food and service is always great - though it's on the pricey side (but it's in Sudbury, so what do you expect). I always find it to be a nice relaxed, quiet dinner. Hoping to try the outside dinner when spring/summer get here.
(4)Rosie F.

I believe our experience was 3.5 star, but overall, I enjoyed our visit. We had crabcakes as an appetizer, which were a good size and came with a nice relish. I'm a very big seafood--and crabcake in particular-snob, so I rate these as a 3/5. I would avoid crabcakes at a place like Bullfinches, but my husband was in the mood. He rated them 4/5. Beer and wine were both reasonably priced, and the menu offers pairing suggestions with their main entrée. I was happy to see two entrée sizes offered. My husband had the Winter Chicken and I had fish tacos (an appetizer) for dinner...and stole some of his chicken. The winter chicken, while not what I was expecting (who care? It wasn't my entrée!), was very good and served up in a bowl with tortellini. 4.5/5. My fish tacos were sad. The fish (fried...but I expected this) was excellent. But the tortillas looked like they came from the grocery store bag to our table, and were cold and tasteless. They tossed some peppers and tomatoes and put it on a plate. No thanks. I'd rate them 2/5, but removing my San Francisco fish taco bias, let's give it a 3/5. We had coffee and dessert, though we only ordered the special (NY Cheesecake) because we overhead it offered to the table to our left. Our waitress did not mention any dessert specials. I grew up in NY, and I know my cheesecake. This was a good attempt, but a 3.5/5. 5/5 for presentation and sauce. If you are from Boston and are looking for good cheesecake, this will not disappoint. Our service was okay. Our atmosphere wasn't great, but that's not Bullfinches' fault...we had a royally obnoxious couple next to us, and the tables are close together. We got to watch the wife check her email and the husband yell into his phone about fantasy hockey for the first 20 minutes of our dinner. Prices were good. I've had better, but I've also been around restaurants to know that the folks at Bullfinches know what they're doing. I think the menu is probably really hit-or-miss, so ask your server what s/he recommends.

(4)Jenn C.
I love this place. I've been several times for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. I've never had a bad meal. All of the dishes I've had were creative and tasty. They even have a separate vegetarian menu with more than one choice!!! Not a cheap dinner though, save for a special night!
(4)Derek A.
Have been here a few times , always had great food and service

We ate there on Saturday night for our anniversary. The waiter was nice and attentive, but couldn't recommend anything on the wine list. We had fried oysters, haddock with potatoes, smoked salmon and scallops with a mustard sauce, chocolate lava cake, and pumpkin crème brulée. The food was cooked correctly, but for the amount of money we spent I expected the dishes to have more flavor. Overall we found the food to be more like general fair and not that impressive.

(5)Claire P.
(4)Jack K.
It is a great place to go and have a fun meal. Sunday Jazz Brunch is worth the time and trip too.
(5)Karena F.
(4)Shuja D.

(4)Whitney S.
(5)Hillary C.
I am new to sudbury and went here for dinner and thought it was really excellent. The food was great as was the service - the patio is very nicely done. I ordered the tuna which was delicious and got the dessert sampler that was really excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurants and look forward to going back!
(5)Michelle C.
(4)Tricia C.
Great staff. Wonderful food. Whenever we have friends visit from out of town or a special occasion, we bring them here. It never disappoints.
(5)Robin Y.

(1)Matthew B.
(5)Jay K.
(5)Peter W.
Quite simply one of the best meals I've had in a long time. From service to taste, custom to cocktails and all, just fantastic. Friendly and unpretentious.
(5)Skye G.
(4)Felisa P.
(5)Joe O.
We loved everything about this place. Our server was great. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Cosmopolitan tasted as it should. The appetizers were particularly good and a little different. Try the dumplings. We'll be back for sure.
(5)Veronica S.
Food was good. Lobster Bisque and Sole with lemon cream sauce. First of all: décor was interesting and eclectic. Some touches I really liked and some not as much. But the likes definitely outweigh the dislikes. Staff are busy and friendly. It is obvious that this is a very popular place with locals and deservedly so. Was very impressed with the people. I listened to a few of them go above and beyond for different customers and was thinking that this is a place that seems to really care about making people feel welcome. The lobster bisque was good. The sole was really good. Sole was perfectly cooked, tender with crisp steamed squash and zucchini which complemented the sole perfectly. Portions were generous (more than I can eat) and reasonably priced. I would make this a regular stop also, maybe not top choice, but certainly on a short list of places to visit from time to time. Saw that on Sunday they have a Jazz brunch with live Jazz music. Seems that it should be a crime to not come to those from time to time. Heard another diner raving about the duck, might want to give that a try later this week.

I wish them well.

our favorite place - never had a dish we didn't enjoy. We've taken out of town guests and it's becoming our go to. I highly recommend it and the Sunday Jazz Brunch is definitely worth the trip!

Great local atmosphere, terrific crackers and cheese spread to start. I really enjoyed the beet salad and the tuna entree.

Bullfinches never disappoints. Whether for a casual Sunday brunch, a date night or a special birthday party - food and service are exceptional!

Went here for a work dinner and it was so very good! Driven by so many times but never tried the place. The food and drinks were amazing, the ambience was beautiful, service perfect. I couldn't have asked for any more. I can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed Bullfinchs thoroughly and will go back again. The drinks were creative and generous, the food was interesting and flavorful, the waitstaff was pleasant and accomodating.

Bullfinches had highs and lows during my visit. Unfortunately, we ended on a low point so I've got a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The highs: Nice menu. Good beer selection and VERY reasonably priced. They were able to accommodate a party of 10 with little notice, and the server took our orders individually as some of the party showed up later than others. Most of the food we ordered was good - solid, not great. The atmosphere and décor was just right. The lows: The food, in my opinion, was somewhat overpriced. I just didn't think for the price that the portion and the taste was on par. I wanted to like Bullfinchs more; I was kind of underwhelmed. Unfortunately, right before we left, I was leaving the restroom and I overheard our server speaking poorly about our table to other the servers. I know it's hard to accommodate a party of ten (who asked for 4 separate checks at the end, I know, bad!) but the bottom line is that a professional establishment should NEVER speak ill of its customers. It's too bad because overall Bullfinchs is a nice establishment, but that alone is enough to make me say that I will never go back.

This is our go-to place for a nice dinner out.
