My favorite Starbucks in Boston. It's in Davis Square, my favorite square in Boston. It's big, it's open late enough, it's got at least two Baristas and one cashier every day, and... They've got reliable WiFi! It's busy all the time, unless the Tufts students are at the bar (which is after 5:30pm usually). Besides that, it's got a fireplace and a patio for goodness sakes! Come on! That's seasonally perfect. Globalism be damned!!!

Spacious seating, *available* seating, reggae music, a central fireplace and crazy futuristic phone powering stations - I think I'm in love. Further props: The barista didn't ask my name, therefore he couldn't butcher it on my Tall cinnamon latte. He also asked if I wanted whipped cream (no) and humored me when I inquired about S$'s newest, most hilarious flavor, caramel flan - to the point of handing over a free coffee card so I could try it without risking $4 of my hard-earned pocket money on a whim. Did I mention Bob Marley is crooning overhead? Butterflies.

This place is alwayssss crowded. Good luck trying to find a seat if you arrive with anyone else. I wish they had more small tables, but their setup fits a lot of people. Their bathrooms are kinda grimy and require a passcode. Still, I've always had a decent experience studying here. Their music is on point! Especially their holiday music :) Also, the cashier yesterday was one of the nicest I've encountered. And they even have a fireplace!

This is normal Starbucks. There is a stove in this cafe. However, window side seats are cold. There are many seat and table, so we can have a seat at any time. Free WiFi.

Love this Starbucks. Great location near my house. They used to know me by name but the staff has had a major change-over recently. But when they knew my name it was a nice touch... Always quick and efficient. My drinks are always good!

Fantastic location. Right on the corner across from the Davis T-stop, this is my favorite Starbucks location in the Boston area. There's always an outlet available for my laptop, and the staff are friendly and fun. What makes this location particularly delightful is that the staff engage in conversation, and the management is active in customer interaction. They always keep the cream/milk full, and the bathrooms are clean 9 times out of 10.

It's Starbucks, what do you expect? Loads of comfy seating at this location. It's sizable enough where there is usually always a seat. It's cool they offer cold brews now for just 50 cents or so more than their regular iced coffee. The staff members definitely are friendly and perky even in the early hours. I've gone loads of times, though, and it seems like there is always someone new working and I'm never remembered as a regular. I recommend heading across the street to Diesel if you want a local place, but this Starbucks definitely can meet your coffee needs.

The fireplace is broken and has been for years! Not sure why they won't deal with this. It would be so much nicer if they would just fix it. Otherwise it's a pretty good Starbucks, though as others have said, bathrooms could use more attention.

Don't get me started on how annoyed I am by this Starbucks, but I'll start with the positive, since the review won't end well. Pros: There are a gazillion seats here. I do speak in hyperbole, but you're pretty much guaranteed to have a seat for your tuchus any time of day. The baristas are familiar with regular customers-- I was one for a while. And they'll always prepare drinks, even if they seem relatively complicated. Cons: Uhhh, isn't Somerville supposed to be friendly? Well, then why do some of the meanest baristas work at this location? There are also some very nice, very friendly ones, but the mean ones deny you basic things, such as flat lids for a drink that doesn't need a dome lid (even when you see flat lids right in front of you).. or straws for a venti drink.

This is a great place to read, study or chat with friends if your Deaf. If you're not Deaf it's a great place to hear new music REALLY LOUD! Seriously ... bring your Soundhound app and sample it all. If you come here to hear yourself think ... not the best space unless you have some high end noise cancelation. Oh. Great baristas too!

Goood service and quick, friendly and attentive!!! Parking is a bit tough, but I guess it could be worse! this location is very busy but is kept clean.... Would recommend this location !

My favorite SBUX. Fireplace, window seats, stuffed chairs, table seats. Put yer feet up, relax, kick back, enjoy. Sorry SBUX, I'm taking down a star for unreliable Wifi service. I had to switch to my own carrier's service to stay connected to the 'net.

When it comes to Starbucks, you look for those pieces that differentiate one from the rest. The Davis Square Starbucks is able to do that - many places to sit (I have never had to leave because I couldn't find a place to put down my laptop), outdoor seating, and a fireplace. You can't really go wrong there. Wifi has gotten better since they switched to Google's service, but it will still be slow during peak times. If you need fast internet, you would be wise to bring your own connection. Everyone who works there is friendly - there were nothing but smiles when I spilled my latte all over the table and floor. Starbucks is a solid place to go - you know what to expect, that you will be able to find a seat, and that you can enjoy whatever time you spend there. It's a no-risk choice.

What I like, the large wooden table...it's a great workspace, just what I was looking for. And I have spent many hours there. The coffee is Starbucks coffee, no surprise there...if you need a shot of some legal liquid drug, they got it. They also have a good amount of seating including big comfy chairs, regular tables, and window seating. What I don't like, the staff on the weekend are always very rude. I don't know why but I walk up and the dude does not even greet me in a decent manner...he just says "yup?" which seems to translate as tell me what the f you want and then go away. He's done this to me more than once...every time he is rude (this is before I say anything but hi). Last time, he made me wait for several minutes (over 5 min) before serving me and while he chatted with a colleague. The guy behind me in line started getting very impatient. He was very polite to the old white lady in front of me though and spent a long time making sure he got her order right. Note that my general experience with Starbucks staff at other locations is that they are very friendly so that just made this guy's behavior stand out even more. What else I don't like, as another review or two mentioned, this location is very over air-conditioned. So much so that I have to remember to bring a winter sweater every time I spend the day working there, even though it's the middle of the summer. So, great workspace...frigid customer service for some of us and frigid air too.

They've changed the interior a lot. There is a ton of seating, a fireplace, bar benches at the windows, and a large wooden table in the middle. Although they have a ton of seating, it's usually packed full. I've been here more than a handful of times, and half the time they are friendly, half type time they've been rude. There was one incident where a cashier gave me a bad attitude when I had went to the front just to ask if something was in stock because I didn't want to wait in the line if it wasn't. It also takes a long time to get your order since it's so busy.

uggh - I try and I try - but what more do I have to do. yeah - it's nice here. Recently revamped interior, fireplace, friendly staff. And the products are all good - or comparable to other mid to top tier Starbucks - but - I've had to walk out many times because the line is just far too long. And sometimes I've been tricked...because if the line to pay isn't excruciatingly long, then the wait at the pickup counter is. But that's ok. It's all good.

Typical starbucks food and drinks. Great location. Attractive building and plenty of seating.

So we all know the coffee here is just ok. The seating is a crap shoot. The staff is for the most part good. My issue is the number of people who come in, plant themselves at multiple tables, do not purchase anything and prevent paying customers from enjoying the space. And all you folks who go to Anna's for a burrito, sit at SBUX and don't purchase anything..same thing. I really wish they'd start cracking down on this. Honestly if SBUX charged for WiFi it would be a different story. One star for the staff, one star for location & fireplace.

This Starbucks is always crowded with people on laptops studying away. I used to be one of those students and it's great that they have long tables all in a row so people can sit next to each other and still do their work. They also have a fireplace with comfy chairs around it and also some normal 2 top tables. And the most important thing - they have working bathrooms.

Although Diesel Cafe is my favorite cafe in the entire world, I still frequent this Starbucks 4:1 over Diesel. Yes, I hate myself. However, when I work, I need Wi-fi, convenient outlet locations and in the summer, air conditioning. With regards to A/C, this Starbucks is often tooo cold so I always bring a jacket and everything's fine. The restroom's also way cleaner and nicer than the bulletproof-prison-issue bathroom at diesel. The staff is also generally pretty nice to me. Nobody comes to Starbucks for the quality of their brewed coffee or espresso but I sure love myself a refresher or frappuccino. So, this is me, revealing what a prissy baby I am but sometimes, I just want to get my work done in a comfortable environment with Wi-fi.

The barristas are stars...truly. All of the faux-ipster water-drinking customers watching youtube videos and taking up all of the Internet bandwidth such that no one who actually wants to work can get any work done are jerks. Plus all of those bodies crammed into one space has to be a fire-hazard or something. Cranky much lately? Yes.
(2)
John L.
The primary good thing about this Starbucks: it has ample seating. You can watch the people wander by through Davis Square while getting work done. Joggers, tourists, random people, small dogs, they're all there! Otherwise, it's Starbucks.
(4)
Dave R.
This is the ideal Starbucks and why I love Starbucks more than perhaps any other international brand. A fireplace, great music, a loooong wooden table at which to get some work done...all good things. Almost always a place to sit as it's quite large. Wifi can be pretty solid if it's a slower time.
(4)
Dan K.
Good coffee and enough space to stretch out and put your feet up. The fireplace is a nice touch. The only downside is that the music is often turned up a bit too loud, which makes it a difficult place to read.
(3)
Simon L.
I have never seen so many macbooks lined up in one place in my life. Seriously, maybe fifteen or twenty at a time all along the longwood table down the middle of the store. People paying for coffee to use wifi. Unbeleivable business model. Good coffee. Fast line.

Since their renovations this store quickly bumped other Sbux off the list. Sometimes it's too busy for me to concentrate, but I'm not the kind of person who comes to the store to get any homework done, or really SHOULD have noise-cancelling headphones, so I just walk out when it's too busy for me to handle. The staff are consistently good, I've seen a bunch of managers come and go here, and they've managed to keep a team here that seem to work well together and are always happy to try to understand me while I'm under-caffeinated. They also have the seating out into the walk-way to the municipal lot behind the square, so when the weathers fine, it's a nice optional extension of the store.

Top Pot is, by all accounts, a totally dope Seattle donut chain. Starbucks, in theory, carries Top Pot donuts. Yet this particular Starbucks is in Somerville. And, again, Top Pot's in Seattle. According to Google Maps, that's 3,045 road miles (if you're willing to pay tolls). And donuts don't travel well. At all. In other words, something's got to give. And that something is, unfortunately, the donuts. They're all old-fashioned style, which makes sense, since a good, refrigerated cake donut can keep for days, while raised donuts, as a rule, live fast and die young. Like my third-grade hamster, "Peanut Butter." And, also like the late, great Peanut Butter, they don't stand up well to transcontinental travel. And, whether they're made in Seattle or some satellite bakery in Framingham or whatever, the donuts arrive in Davis Square already having aged a lifetime. They're soft, even though the entire point of frying a cake donut is to make them crispy, and the glaze has begun to slough off and soak into the insipid cake. It's not a horrendous donut, but it's also not worth $1.50. Not when Verna's down the road charges less than a dollar for some of the best old fashioned's you'll ever rip into.

I have a gold card. I visit Starbucks often. I'm patient, tolerant and tis the season to be merry... Be prepared to wait a long time for your drink. The staff is friendly and polite, no doubt, but the Barista was just soo slow with making the drinks. Thorough is one thing, slow as molasses is another. There were 10 people waiting for drinks and I must have waited 15 minutes from when I actually placed my order to when I received it. Have some urgency, SBUX people! Bring your patience if you're headed to this Starbucks location in Davis Square. Diesel Cafe is plan B, my friends.
(2)
Hank W.
The Wi-Fi at this location is unusable. I went there to grab a latte and send a few emails, but had to give up after waiting for more than 10 minutes for a single web page refresh.
(2)
Allison W.
I am writing this review while I wait for a webpage to load, such is the slowness of this wifi. Seriously, at least 3-5 minutes for each page. This is my first visit here and while the interior is pretty neat (fireplace!) and my latte is good and while I really don't even mind being crammed in with 50 other people, this is not a good place to go if you need to get work done on your laptop. I may bring a book or pen and paper work in the future, but I'm not going to try waiting out the data traffic jam again. Bottom line: if you have work to do, go across the street and pay for wifi at Diesel. You won't want to rip your hipster 'stache out and you'll be supporting a local business.

So rating a Starbucks is sort of like rating the air one breathes..... each breath is sort of just like the last and you do not really notice the difference between breaths. Food and drink: The coffee is the same as any other Starbucks as are the food offerings. Did you know that Starbuks stuff comes wrapped in cellophane like a twinkie? I recommend you go across the road to diesel cafe if you want something that is fresh and local. Staff: Cool. No complaints, no compliments. They used to do a trivia question on Thursdays for a free coffee, but not any more. *sigh. Seating: Get it if you can. Always packed and you may feel out of place if are not pecking away at a computer. Temp: Cold in the summer and can get drafty in the winter. They are busy and have two doors, so the wind can occasionally chill you while you work at the big centre table. Try to get close to the fireplace, it acts like a wind break. Summary: Its the nearest Starbucks to my home and I go there.

What I got: Salted caramel mocha with soy milk... eh.. next time i should just stick to my usual seasonal: pumpkin spice latte with soy milk... this is what I get for venturing out. But, hey, I would've never known I didn't like until I actually tried it, right? Now, I can knock it. I mean it was flavorful, just too coffee ish tasting for me, I like the pumpkin spice bc at least the flavor is more pumpkin and the coffee acts as a carrier to deliver its flavor. With the salted caramel mocha, I felt like it tasted like a semi-salty coffee with just a hint of chocolate.. not my cup of joe preference. Then again, I don't drink coffee that much.. it was just really cold out! lol Service- I was not offered a receipt although the cashiers had asked every one else! blah. I was using a gift card, too... So, I, of all people, would like one since I'd need to find out how much I have left on it. They were pretty busy, line was getting long. I didn't have to wait too long for my drink, which is always great. I'll come back here, it's Starbucks, they're pretty consistent and.. I'll need a cup to warm me up, I'm sure!

Big open rectangular space, lots of seating, fireplace, outdoor patio. Nice, but didn't blow my mind. Friendly staff, good green frap. But they were out of salad and other lunch options when I went in around 1pm-ish.

Yes, they have a fireplace. Yes, this is a starbucks. No, you cannot live here, but it seems you can stay here allll daaaaay lonnnnggggg. I came here at 10:30am with my Mom before she embarked on her 100 mile journey on the Mass Pike home. We thought at 10:30am on a Monday this place would be dead seeing as it's the biggest Starbucks I've ever set foot in (and I've been to a lot of Starbucks)! There was nary a seat to be found. There was only one person ahead of us in line, so we ordered our two tall, non-fat, no water, Chais and sipped them by the trashcan for a few sips while surveying the caffeinated library that this particular Starbucks is and off we went. No seats to found, no seats to be had and we left a bit defeated, but happily caffeinated! The service here is always pleasant. They seem to really want to do a good job and I enjoy that. I just really wish there were two seats that morning, but oh well. I'll be back tomorrow pre-gym for my chai! TO GO!!

I been coming here for almost a year now and they just never greet me nor even say Thank you. Most of these workers here seem like crappy apples. They are just lucky the drinks are good.

I will just say that I hate this place because they opened across the street from the Diesel Cafe, a non-corporate local coffee shop with real Davis Square flavor to it, plenty of space and great coffee. This Starbucks features ultra-corporate coffee which tastes like poop, has funny names, and is overprices. It's not particularly large and is part of the selling-out and corporatization of Davis Square.
(2)
Tunisia M.
Yes, yes I known what you're thinking. Who reviews chain stores? People who don't have lives, myself included. On a side note, this isn't just any Starbucks. It has a fireplace...and a really cozy atmosphere. Out of all the Starbucks in the city, I preferred this one for all of my studying and meet-up needs. Baristas are decent and it's a nice spot to people watch.
(4)
Micky L.
I've been living in somerville/medford area for a while. This starbucks is my studying spot in the area. They have many seats, not many outlets but enough. I love the outside space in summer. One thing i need to complain about is that wifi sometimes is very slow.
(4)
Melisa S.
I know what you're thinking...it's a Starbucks...how good it could be? I will tell you! First this is the biggest Starbucks I have ever been in! They have tables running down the center with outlets..so if you're a student with a coffee habit..you don't have to leave to recharge the laptop! I came with my SIL and a new baby and a big a$$ stroller...I didn't feel out of place or in the way. It was nice to be able to go in and not hit tables, chairs or other customers.
(5)

This Starbucks is as good as any other, however... Be advised that this Starbucks is apparently set up to handle the overflow of students from every college library in the area. During the school year there are so many kids camped out with their ginormous backpacks and mac books that you are hard pressed to find a seat. If you do find a place to cop a squat, god help you if you want to get on wifi to read the news- this experience will take you back to the days of your old dial-up modem. With all the expansion going on in Davis Square, Starbucks' corporate may want to consider annexing the tattoo parlor next door or tanning salon upstairs to make more room for the kiddos.

I feel like Starbucks is one of those places I can't review, simply because my life revolves around the discovery of independent coffee houses. It's almost the same thing as a butcher reviewing a McDonald's hamburger. Having said that, I do appreciate the inexpensive cost of a cup of coffee. I had a gift card for $50 bucks, and milked it for a month. I came for the free coffee, and I stayed for the cinnamon and comfy lounge to hang out in. I got some serious work done there, and had some decent coffee too. Their cinnamon, I hear, is actually really good stuff. It certainly tastes like cinnamon. I just think Starbucks is an epitome for luxury standards. It's not deserved, and yet, people swear by it. I'll go the high road and give them a quasi-fanatical 4-stars. Thanks for the cinnamon, and thanks for letting me live in your lounge all day.

I have never been one of those people who goes to a public place to use my computer, but since starting school again I have been meeting a classmate here to do some work now and again. From a study standpoint, there is a lot to love about this Starbucks. Lots of room to stretch out, plenty of outlets, clean bathrooms and a tolerable noise level. They carry most of the Starbucks food items which is really helpful for those mid study sesh hunger pangs and the staff is never trying to rush you out. The only gripe I can imagine is the lack of parking, but if that is going to stop you then I guess you will be missing out on all the wonderful goings on in Davis anyway, so you didn't need to read my review anyway.

The Davis Square Starbucks location isn't half bad: a plus is that there is plenty of seating (usually not packed when the Tufts undergrads are gone), service is pretty swift and it's clean. An added bonus of this location is that there is a patio area to sit and enjoy your beverage on pleasant days.

By far my favorite Starbucks anywhere (and I've been in A LOT of Starbucks). This is my local store, they always greet me (many of them know my name) making me feel at home, and I am so grateful for such warm and welcoming service every time I go there. I can't think of a better way to start my day than a fresh espresso and they're excellent service. Thank You!! I actually compare all other Starbucks to this one and I have yet to find one that matches their overall enthusiasm and efficiency. Well done. Someone is managing this place right and has excellent hiring skills.

"It's okay... It's a little different here. You're definitely the minority among the group, but don't feel uncomfortable and concentrate on that. Just get a hot cup of coffee and get your work done." I hold my HP laptop tight in reassurance. So... many... Mac users... While their thick black framed glasses are fixated on computer screens, I feel a huge aura of secret judgemental thoughts from the shiny glares off their lenses. But you don't even know me. Thanks to the great baristas and cashiers here, I feel totally welcome. They are quick, efficient, and all at the same time, with a smile on their face. My order has never been messed up and my drinks come out fast. A very spacious Starbucks indeed, but unfortunately, there are very few seats available almost all of the time. Great place to grab a coffee before you hop on the T. It's even better when you can find a spot near the fireplace or the warm nooks and crannies of the Starbucks corners.

I tried a change from Dunkin Donuts today. I wasn't shocked after so many years. I once visited a Starbucks on Newbury St. Years ago and still don't understand why people want to take out a loan in order to buy a cup of coffee Starbucks. I had a large frappacinno for & 6 something

Yes, I know that giving a great review to a Starbucks is akin to praising McDonald's for awesome hamburgers, but hear me out. Don't get me wrong; I love Diesel across the street. I happen to think their drinks and sandwiches are superior, and I like to support independent businesses. But when it comes to working in a public place, Starbucks takes the lead. As many others have said, this store is cozy and perfect for getting work done or just hanging out while you sip your caffeinated beverage of choice, especially in the wintertime when you can snag an armchair near the fireplace. Since starting my illustrious career in consulting, and ongoing work as a grad student, I've found this Starbucks' atmosphere to be conducive to gettin' stuff done. Bonus: it's a very short walk from my apartment! I recommend bringing earplugs or headphones if you don't want to hear the random phone conversation, Norah Jones on the speakers, or the sounds of coffee machines. I have found the staff to be extremely chill and friendly, which is pretty cool, considering they must deal with all kinds of people. My only qualm lies with the relative shortage of power outlets during peak hours (usually between 11 and 5). However, if I know I'll be heading there to do work, I'll fully charge my computer and then bring my charger in case i get lucky and score an outlet. So in short: free wi-fi, unlimited access to productivity-inducing caffeine, and friendly staff? Hooray!

Soooooo I wouldn't normally be writing a review of a chain place....especially a chain as big and massive as Starbucks, BUT this Starbucks? Is like Starbucks God. It is huge! It has live music on weekdays and weekends! It has the same great coffee drinks! Great service! It is in a great location!! But wait.....drum rollllllllllll...it has a FIREPLACE!! Yup. Bet you didn't see that one coming!! And there are couches and tons of tables! This is a cafe dream girl's heaven! I will definitely be here studying all the time. And I mean all the time! Well maybe not once the humidity kicks in and I want to be really far from a fireplace, but once winter hits! Hot chocolate, studying and a fireplace? I'm totally there! And don't worry, I'll still go support the local places nearby too. I promise. Especially if they get a fireplace too :-)
(4)
Susan A.
For a Starbucks, this location is good. Super for studying and chatting. Good patio area outside for the better weather. Inside: fireplace, loads of comfy chairs. Would be better if they had more tables, but you can't have everything. Tables come with outlets... yay! Staff for the most part are awesome except for this one weird dude who sounds like the death clock or something, but whatevs.
(4)
Jill F.
Yes, it's a chain. But after going to this store for 2 years, I can say...this is really, really a nice store. The employee's are always friendly (even if their has been turnover) There is PLENTY of seating and outlets for everyone and their bathrooms are always clean. I am very pleased Starbucks in Davis...I'm not going to lie. I enjoy coming here more than that other coffee shop across the street. Oh, and free wifi? Duh. I'll see you tomorrow.

Desperate to pull myself out of a food coma, brought on by shoveling fist fulls of delicious pork down my throat (Redbones...whole other review), Laura K and I stumbled into Starbucks for a quick boost. LK-"ummm is this a library?" LJ-" **whispers** I think this is an apple store" Literally, every single person in Starbucks had a Macbook and a latte. We found this to be hilarious, as did the 2 baristas behind the counter, who quickly become our bff's for a hot minute. Bottom line, this particular Starbucks is obviously a great spot to come relax, study, whatevs....spacious, lots of comfy chairs, tables, and most importantly, electrical outlets. Looked to be spic and span, no dirty tables or trash left around. If I still lived in Davis, I'd be a reg!

Staff is friendly. Coffee is good. But everybody here is working on a laptop, so the WiFi is kinda congested. Great place to sit & people-watch in Davis Square, though.

Location: 4 stars (decently close to T). Workspace: 5 stars (giant wooden table, lots of comfy armchairs). Can't remember if outlets are plentiful though. Staff Niceness: 5 stars. So cheerful, even at 7am! Dirty Chai: 3 stars (where 5 stars = Mad River Coffee: see my other review). I prefer this to Diesel (which gets edged out for its charging for internet).

Besides its prime location in the heart of Davis Square, the immense seating area this Starbucks' features makes it one of the best I've visited. Consisting of a 25+ foot table, a bar along the front window, and a number of plush chairs, there is ample space one to find a seat. The adjacent patio also provides for approximately fifteen additional seats in appropriate weather. As for the staff, I've found them to be one of the most consistent in the area. Regardless of the barista, I never need to worry that my drink won't be up to par.
(4)
Kim K.
Totally packed all the time and too dim to really work. I choose Diesel over Starbucks if I'm in Davis and need tea and/or work space.
(2)
Apolinaras S.
This Starbucks location is basically refuge from hipster-infested Diesel across the street. Want to sit down with a coffee and a laptop to work - this is the place. Want to be forced to listen to some guy with too tight of the jeans talking just bit too loudly about his conquests - Diesel is for you.
(4)
James S.
This is my least favorite Starbucks, too bad I live near it. All employees, including the manager, don't know rules that have existed for years (like getting a tall coffee when buying a bag of beans) and their attitude and lack of compassion make me think they think they're actually working at the real hipster coffee shop which is across the street. ;) If you're needing good coffee in Davis Square, go to Diesel instead.

I have to admit, I am a Starbuck-holic. I simply love all their sweet drinks with shots of espresso (as I do not really like the taste of coffee but love the kick of caffeine), especially their white chocolate mocha and dirty chai! The 3 stars is not for the coffee grade or the staff (who are more than friendly and very prompt with orders) or even for the bathrooms (which are some of the nicer "public" restrooms in the Davis area). The 3 stars is for the remodel. I know some people have actually yelped about how great all the outlets are and the large table in the center, but the place used to be a lot more cozy with overstuffed chairs and couches cuddled around the fireplace just inviting you to sit down with your coffee and a good book and stay for a while. They still had a work station, but it didn't take over the entire layout. They even used to have an open mic night with local artists - They may still. Sadly, I don't know as now I just want to get in, get my drink, and get out. PS - They did keep the outdoor "patio," which is absolutely superb in the spring-fall time and which I highly recommend for any beautiful day!

This location has just been remodeled. I prefer it the other way and was all set to grumble and carry on about the 'damned steely feel of the place' when I decided to pick up where I left off. I'm reading an article on intersectionality [think where gender meets race meets class and sexual orientation] and I wanted to know what other people thought. The last time I did this, I asked a bunch of guys if they thought feminism is a dead movement. If so, at whose hands? If not, what advice would they give young feminists? Hilarious answers abound. Anywho, two of the baristas [?] let me badger them in between work duties [In case their store manager is reading] :D. They supplied some of the most insightful answers I've ever come across. Our conversation spanned centuries of ideology and law and many a feminist wave. I introduced ideas about what it means to be American, White, Heterosexual, or Male-Identified and got some fantastic answers. It was well worth staying. Perhaps couches do not a comfy Starbucks make.

Great service! Terrible wifi, second only to dial up. If you need Internet to work, consider another location.

I love the atmsphere there, seriously what other Starbucks has a fireplace in the middle.

I come here a lot, so there must be something wrong with me if I only give then place two stars. But its the closest *$ to me, and I work from home, so I often need a place for free internet. I like this *$ way more before the remodeling, it not has less character and is not as comfortable. Since the new "free" wifi has been activated I've had 4 occasions (about 50%) of my visits where it hasn't worked. On two occasion calling AT&T solved the matter, the other two, it was out for the day. I didn't love that the employees of the *$ take no responsibility for the internet service. On the plus side, they are really good about moving the line along. While it can be long, your wait is never bad. There music is soft, so you can focus or listen to your own. A lot of people visit, so you always pump into someone you know. Food options in Davis are great.

Since moving from Spring Hill (Central Street area) to Davis Square, this has been my main Starbucks. I used to frequent the Somerville Avenue one just outside Porter Square. The staff here are pretty friendly and I don't have any complaints about them. I love how they remodeled the place creating the much needed more space for patrons. I do miss however the community book and boardgame section they used to have. Always busy, but the line never stays long, even on the way to work there's time to stop in for a latte. The downside of course is being a corporation where everything has to be uniform, I wish they had better food options, and didn't have to shout the orders to each other. The staff can be too fast sometimes and I tell one person my order and when I get to the register (four of five people ahead of me) they already put it in and I wanted to add money to my gift carf first and use the gift card (free soy milk! and points towards free drink people). Not a big deal they can just delete the order, add the money, redo the order. It just happens pretty much all the time. Slow down and enojy the aroma of coffee :-P As someone who used to work in a chain coffee shop I can appreciate how stress free, how clean, and how smooth this store is run. Its why I keep coming back again and again. Not really their fault, but I wish the city and the owners of Somerville Courtyard (where they are located) did a better job of enforcing the private area policy. I can't sit there and play guitar with an open case to collect change and sell cds, but the vagrants panhandle incessantly at the outdoor seating area which is usually a pigsty. I recommend staying inside where its cleaner and quieter.

Would have been at least 4 stars before the recent remodeling! Bleh. New manager= new seating, much less comfortable then before. No more open mic night which brought a lot of local musicians/artists to Davis Sq to chill and meet each other. they even took down the photos of the local musicians. now this Bux mainly caters to the working crowd it seems, with the window bar like seating appealing to those staring at a laptop screen for hours. This just isnt the comfy starbucks that made me not dislike starbux so much anymore, the atmosphere doesn't welcome those who want to meet friends and laugh over lattes. I'm sad.

Ordinarily I don't frequent Starbucks. My coffee comes from my girlfriend, work, or small cafe-type places, like the fine vegan lesbian establishment right across the street. To cut to the quick, this Starbucks is the nicest I have seen. Spacious, comfy chairs, quiet, and a nice view of Elm street. It's air conditioned, has lots of table space and has free wi-fi, so there's no shortage of laptop/latte lifer folk here. The woman next to me is working on her knitting. It's Starbucks. You're going to get the same drinks and food you could get at any Starbucks, which isn't bad. If you're in for new drinks and quirky atmosphere, Diesel Cafe is 10 feet away. If you need a Caramel machiatto and the means to Yelp about it immediately, this is your place.

So I should have been a good local girl and gone across the street to Diesel Cafe, but no...my inner control freak was at the helm, steering me toward coffee chain central, a virtual guarantee that the coffee will taste exactly the way I want it. No surprises. Just the right temperature. Soy milk. Ahhhh. And aside from consistent order perfection, I love coming to this location because it is seriously the nicest Starbucks in the greater Boston area. There's a cozy fireplace in the center of the room and there is ample seating. Whether you've come to read, to chat, to chill or do some serious work or studying, there's arm chairs, tables and even a desk! The staff is friendly and they always seem to have an abundance of every kind of baked good they sell. In my opinion, you cannot ask for much more in a coffee shop. Especially a chain!

Like the last few reviews, I try not to review big chains. This Starbucks location is pretty good though. I am from Seattle and this is the only one I have been to that compares to some of the giant, loungey locations that I am used to. Comfy chairs, plenty of seating, friendly staff. They have a fireplace also which I imagine to be nice in the winter. I was amazed at the level of competence here. While I am not a regular, I was served quickly. Everyone else in line was a regular and the barrista was standing to the side asking each one of them if they wanted their usual half-caff-non-fat-caramel-macchiatos and she was spot on with the drinks. It can get a bit crowded in the afternoon because of the proximity to Tufts, but it isn't too bad. If you need a consistently average to good cup of coffee that will taste exactly the same every time you order and need a relaxing place to sit while reading, people watching or whatever... go here.
(4)
Stephanie C.
(+) = big comfy chairs, awesome fireplace to keep you warm, great place to read/study, friendly staff, line moves quickly, sometimes you can get some free samples, recently renovated (and improved) (-) = Wednesday's "off the street musicians" music night gives me a headache, so I hit up alternative locations. Finding an outlet for your laptop could be a little tricky.

I hate to get too excited about Starbucks. But this is easily the best Starbucks I've been to. And in my wayward youth, I went to a lot of Starbuckses. Fireplace. Friendly baristas. Armchairs. Adorable backgammon league. Bookshelves. Enormous. And mugs if you're drinking in-house. Typical Starbucks crap weighs it down -- music aimed at your target demographic, packaged foods, non-free Internet and corporate shlock. But it still has a fireplace.

I am not what you would call a coffee person (it has to be ice cold and drowned in practically obscene amounts of milk, sugar and flavoring before I'll even touch the stuff), but I love the smell and the environment of a good cafe and I'm always on the hunt for a new study spot. The Davis Square Starbucks, despite being what some might term an evil chain, is definitely my favorite coffee shop in the area. The atmosphere here is extremely cozy and chill--there are always at least three people napping peacefully on the fluffy purple chairs by the fireplace, and for good reason). The staff here is also incredibly nice and friendly--this location offers some of the best customer service I've received in any cafe, anywhere. I suspect that the main drawback of this location stems from its aforementioned awesomeness--this Starbucks is always *packed*, regardless of the day or time. Since people tend to settle in for a good long time once they find a seat, you're most likely looking at an average wait of 5-10 minutes if you want to sit down. Once you manage to snag a seat, however, the wait is usually well worth it.

Shannon F.
After having visited several starbucks in the area, I am further convinced that the Davis Square store hosts the friendliest and most capable staff! I used to be a fairly devoted Deisel fan, but since venturing over across the street, I find the atmosphere to be a nice change from the warehouse feel of Deisel. Once I tried the pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks I started venturing over more often, and now I'll admit, i'm kind of hooked. Believe me, I'll be back at Deisel for the many wonderful menu items they offer, and to get up to date on the latest hipster fashions, but for now, i'm gonna try to find a spot by the fire at Starbucks.

Four stars for friendly baristas, comfy chairs, a fireplace, and large tables to spread my work out on. Minus one star for having to pay for internet. Boo.

Suspend your chain hatred for a moment while I wax poetically about this starbucks... The staff are amazing. They know me and my fiance (and our dog), and can start our orders as soon as they see us. Any deviation to the planned beverages doesn't throw them off or inspire a 'ohhh... why not the coffee today?' comment, they just adjust and smile. Our weekend PJ trips are relaxed, give us time to read the papers, people watch, and catch up with neighbors. We can play with the kiddos (not ours, of course, which makes this the fun part), catch up with staff members on what they do outside the shop, and just generally soak up the energy of Starbucks on a Saturday morning in Davis. Sadly, I've had to switch over to tea as their Pike's place blend doesn't really thrill me anymore, and I think it was a mistake to amp up the food choices. Alas, I'm no Howard Schultz and can't give my business advice out with much cred. However, I'll still keep on coming back for the comfy chairs, the fireplace, the local vibe, and the great staff at this Sbux. So if you see a disheveled couple poring over their NyTimes and Boston Globes with our reusable mugs (of course), that's this starbucks fan celebrating the wonders of caffeine, great music, and stellar people watching.

I've had too many unpleasant experiences at this Starbucks location to give it a higher rating. I wish I could, though, because it has free wifi, ample sample to study, and the staff is really friendly. My main concern has to do with the cleanliness of the cafe. The last time I walked in here, the entire store reeked of urine, which immediately prompted me to walk to Diesel across the street. One time over the summer, I found that there were feces streaked across the men's bathroom floor. There are also some creepy people who frequent this location, so be warned.

I love these baristas here! Really nice and quick with the orders. The line can be long in the morning, but that's expected. There's a nice counter area for hanging out at. I like to get some coffee here while I do my laundry next door or on my way to work.
(5)
Jessie S.
All Starbucks are pretty much the same, but the group of people that work at the Davis Square Starbucks make this one stand out. They are fabulous, and often wear cute headbands. I take my coffee to go (pretty much every day...) and for to-go orders, this place is 5 stars. If I wanted to hang out, I would probably demote to 4, as much as that pains me. There is a LOT of seating, but it's ALWAYS full- and by full I mean 1 person at a table for 4 on her laptop with a long-empty cup of coffee on the table for show.

Cannot believe people flock like Lemmings to the cliff to this burnt tasting rip off of a coffee shop. Dry week old muffin and a gross coffee for $10 after waiting in a line for 20 minutes of hipsters, corporate slaves and wannabe writers with macbooks in tow. Tie me to the rack and give me a good strech before you subject me to the torture that is starbucks again. get it out of my Square as it seems to be a foothold for the corporate destruction that befell the Harvard Sq of my youth.

The best, most open, friendliest, most comfortable Starbucks I've ever visited. It was great before the remodeling, but I think it's even better since the remodeling. They didn't change the best parts (the fireplace and overstuffed chairs are still here), but they've created waaaaay more seating space. Before the remodeling, it was filled to capacity about half of the time; now, there's almost always a seat. And they stopped making customers ask for a key to access their (clean!) bathrooms. What an improvement! I often come here to work. It's simply the most comfortable environment in Davis Square. I love it!

I dropped my chai yesterday morning on my arrival to work. Later, after lunch the same day I went in to purchase another one. I mentioned it to the cashier, and he gave me another one for free! Where do you ever get anything for free? Awesome customer service.

I used to love this Starbucks until around 2009/2010, when management decided to kick out all of the nice, comfortable seating, and instead put on this factory-kitchen-style long table at which customers sit with their laptops, side-by-side, working on whatever they're working on. For me, part of the coffeehouse experience is a cosy atmosphere, where I feel comfortable, and this Starbucks used to have it and no longer does. Now I only drop by to pick up a drink every now and then, but I never stay for a longer period of time anymore. (On a different note: Free Wi-Fi is a plus, but they used to have that before the remodeling as well.)

Standard starbucks, but home to a thriving college population. One of the busier starbucls I've seen in the evening with plenty of students and young professionals, but a great place to hang out. Nothing out of the ordinary about their drinks, if you've drank one cup of starbucks coffee, you've drunk them all. Interior space is well done, and it's nice and warm on a cold winter day.

I commented on the wrong Starbucks.. so here is my review.. lol.. So.. I'm not a huge coffee drinker. I'm more of a milk flavored coffee kind of person I guess... so for all those coffee elitists.. well this review has more to do with environment. This place has some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered (besides the Chicago Starbucks I went to where they gave me a free cupcake for getting breakfast). This Starbucks is the only one that has offered to get me a different drink when I tried a new flavor that I didn't quite enjoy. When I bought a cookie, the cashier asked if I wanted it warmed up. They don't mind (that I can see) that I forget my drink order by the time I get up front. There have been some visible eye rolls and very audible groans in other Boston Starbucks locations. And the banter. They got good banter. I've actually written to corporate about their staff.. but I have no idea if that actually matters. On Wednesdays, there's an open mic that I believe is still hosted by local musician Max G. Have never been in, but it seems like there's a good crowd when I walk by. Also, by the by, lots of seating. By the counter there are actually desks with lamps that I see being used all the time. But I guess that's my one peeve. It's generally crowded. Recently I sat down and chatted with a friend at normal tone and I noticed some student giving me the evil eye. I'm sorry.. were you studying? I'll just go ahead and use my inside voice because I forgot Starbucks doubled as a library. Go back to the dorm. Just kidding. Sort of. Just respect that I'm a patron as well and judging by that murky water in your frap cup, looks like you've been here awhile. So scadaddle. Obviously, this place is good for people watching as well.
(4)
Lilian W.
The staff is always friendly, the hours slightly better than @ Station Landing in Medford, and there are many more seats here. The downside is that there is only meter parking, so my hours-long study sessions cannot be done here unless I take the T in. You also need a key for the bathroom. And on one of my visits, I was extremely disturbed by a 40-something looking man sitting by the window who kept staring. This hasn't happened at any other location.

Like all starbuck's; striving to drive out the local businesses. Someday's gone, go to Diesel.
(1)
Sarah W.
It doesn't really compare to Diesel. But then sometimes I just want a change of scenery. In that case, Starbucks is my hangout. It's not a very big space, but it is a nice one. My favorite is the fireplace in the winter. The big comfy chairs in front of the fireplace are great for a latte and chillin', but not for studyin'--I always fall asleep in them! There's a couple of tables where you can spread out and this makes for a good study spot. The bathrooms are always clean, but you gotta get the key. Such a rock and a hard place for me--I want clean bathrooms...but I hate getting keys they keep at the counter so they can keep the bathrooms clean for you... It's actually pretty cool they are so small sometimes. This makes for maximum scoping capabilities. They get pretty packed, and standing around looking for a table is made unbelievably easier when you can see every table in the place. The staff is nice. The drinks are Starbucks (meaning typical). The food is Starbucks. The service is Starbucks. It's pretty cool.

I hate to write a review of starbucks, but I have to give a shout out to my homies Dev and Dave. Dev runs a tight ship, and it's actually a rather nice starbucks. Fireplace, lots of seating, bookshelf (with books and games). Apparently they also do a lot of special events here as well.

This starbucks is awesome because it;'s huge, has a great fireplace, and has breakfast sandwiches which are pretty damn good. I won't give any recommendations because unless you live in Mars, I think you know what's what at Starbucks.

Open Mike review: Open mike night is Wednesday, 7:15pm. Relaxed open mike. Sign up, pick a spot, play. Max G is the host and starts off the night with a couple tunes. There is also a feature who plays at 9pm or so, and maybe Max again. No cover, no pass the hat. Less folkie than other open mikes. A mix of regulars and new comers, beginners and experienced players, sign up each week. Most of the room is kids on laptops not paying any attention whatsoever. Still, it's a fun play, fun group, and Max is great.

I appreciate what this Starbucks is trying to do to foster a sense of community with its open-mic nights and MSPCA adoption wall. I really do, because they're trying. And I won't turn this into a "globalism-bad, go local!! rant" because there's no way you didn't notice Diesel across the street if you go in here. If you feel guilty about going to Starbucks, go to Diesel, case closed. They cost about the same, and the quality of beverage is a debate I won't get into because I'm no coffee expert. If it's hot and tasty I'll drink it. The staff is friendly and as fast as can be expected given the crowds here. And that's my gripe with this place -- yes, the crowds. You will not find a seat here, ever, because people will sit here all day, sprawled out on a couch in a nest of their own papers and laptop paraphernalia. It's quaint to observe this dedicated a crowd from outside the store or if you're just running in, but good luck if you actually want to sit down and have a chat. Apparently the Tufts library burned down and named this Starbucks as its replacement. There's nothing wrong with being a student or having some coffee while you study at a nice cafe, but if you want to have a proper sit-down cup sans study, go elsewhere.

This place is okay. Not that great. Starbucks sucks in general, and this one is no exception. So three stars, one for good coffee, one for nice staff, and one for open seats. Missing one star for crappy ambience, and one star for horrible food.

In general I'm not a Starbucks person but the Starbucks in Davis has so much more to it than coffee I find myself going there to do everything from meet up with people, read a book, or do work on my computer. Aside from the waitstaff being almost abnormally pleasant (which I'm pretty sure they have to be) the place has a fireplace. What can I say, I love fireplaces and a working fireplace in a Starbucks takes that Starbucks to a whole other level for me. It also has seating for every kind of coffee drinker. There are the window seats for people watching, the window seats with the shades pulled down, the long library-esque table with computer outlets and great lighting for the person who wants to feel like they are in a library and a coffee shop at the same time, the big brown comfortable chairs for the old person or the hipster. The tables in the corner by the door for more privacy or against the wall on the opposite side, oh and did I mention multiple stall women's bathroom? Check it out- I dare you.
Probably the best Starbucks I have ever been to. It has a fireplace, comfy chairs, rug, and is spacious. Who cares if the coffee isn't the best, it's a nice place to hang out.

At first I would come here when there were no seats at the Diesel Cafe accross the street (which is often), then I discovered I prefered this place to Diesel. I can read or write in relative quiet. Seats can be a rare commodity, but an empty chair by the fireplace (on a cold day) is a wonderful find. The cocoa can't be beat, and try as I may, I can never decline the offer to have whip cream on my hot chocolate. Very nice staff, great variety of coffee and tea.

One star for being across the street from Diesel. I am cool with chains... but not that cool.

Susie C.
Yes, I am a fan. I love that there are comfy chairs around the fireplace, and I can put my feet up on the stone wall around it. I love that everyone that works here is so damn nice/witty. I love that it is easier to find a seat here than it is at Diesel across the street (I love you, Diesel!), and I love how the blueberry muffins here are always fresh and, well, perfect.
(4)
Joseph R.
okay so I worked at this starbucks too..... It was like 5 years ago though. This location is okay. It's big and comfy with lots chairs and a friendly staff. The bathrooms are kind of gross and the location finds itself a target for all the trendy people in the area to terrorize but overall I enjoy going to this starbucks. It's not to far from my house and like Davis Square so I still frequent it often.
(3)
Dave Q.
This really is a great Starbucks. There is plenty of seating, the staff is nice, and the coffee is what you would expect.
(5)

I love this Starbucks and it is my favorite. Love the fireplace in the middle of the living room. I used to buy and read the Sunday paper at this Starbucks and it has a coziness you cant find elsewhere. Diesel's lounge comes close but I havent actually sat down and spaced out there. It seems like at the Diesel lounge area, people are discussing books and academics; at Starbucks people are doing their own thing. I could go either way but if I want quiet time to myself I go Starbucks. If I want to converse I go to Diesel.
(4)
Emily K.
i much prefer spending money at local coffee shops than at starbucks, but i gotta hand it to this location. the location itself rocks - it's on my way to the train as well as right by the bus stop. plus, it is the biggest freakin' starbucks i've ever seen in my life. book shelf, loads of tables and comfy chairs, *fire place!* besides that, the staff is nice and i still, for the life of me, cannot seem to find a better caramel macc.
(3)
Etta M.
this review is not to debate if we should be drinking our coffee here or at diesel or anywhere else. this review is a commentary on the employees at this particular starbucks location. i have found them to be nice, more then nice , on EVERY occasion i have been in there. that is reason enough for me to give them a five star rating.
(5)
cindy b.
what is up with the nasty plastic smell in the starbucks these days? They tell me it's the stove/microwave they use for the sandwiches, and they say it starts to smell at the end of the day due to usage.. I find it stinks in there all the time!!
(2)
Kelly L.
while i feel like starbucks is a semi boring place to go... this one is great. It's decent size, and they've managed to put a lot of seating in there. Plus there's a fireplace in the center and cushy chairs, if you are lucky enough to snag one. Definitely an A+ starbucks. Although the light can be a little dim if you are trying to read.
(4)
buckminster f.
the fireplace here is nice, but the place is always filled with tons of students, many of whom occupy the seats for hours at a time.
(4)
Patrick B.
As far as Starbucks go, this one is quite nice. When the weather's cold, there's a gas fireplace inside surrounded by a bunch of comfy chairs that makes for a nice place to read. When the weather's nice, there's outdoor seating available so you can enjoy the foot traffic through Davis Sq. Only complaint is that getting a seat can sometimes be difficult.

(4)Juliana C.
(5)Carolyn L.
(3)Hajime A.
This is normal Starbucks. There is a stove in this cafe. However, window side seats are cold. There are many seat and table, so we can have a seat at any time. Free WiFi.
(3)Chloe S.
Love this Starbucks. Great location near my house. They used to know me by name but the staff has had a major change-over recently. But when they knew my name it was a nice touch... Always quick and efficient. My drinks are always good!
(4)Michael V.
(5)Jess S.
(3)W. A.
The fireplace is broken and has been for years! Not sure why they won't deal with this. It would be so much nicer if they would just fix it. Otherwise it's a pretty good Starbucks, though as others have said, bathrooms could use more attention.
(3)Maria D.
(3)Marc S.
(5)Pierre B.
Goood service and quick, friendly and attentive!!! Parking is a bit tough, but I guess it could be worse! this location is very busy but is kept clean.... Would recommend this location !
(4)David S.
(4)Duncan L.

(2)Em B.
(3)Ted S.
uggh - I try and I try - but what more do I have to do. yeah - it's nice here.
(3)M M.
Typical starbucks food and drinks. Great location. Attractive building and plenty of seating.
(4)julesmary p.
(3)Dinara E.
(4)Vincent Y.
(5)Regina F.
Yes.
(2)John L.
The primary good thing about this Starbucks: it has ample seating. You can watch the people wander by through Davis Square while getting work done. Joggers, tourists, random people, small dogs, they're all there! Otherwise, it's Starbucks.
(4)Dave R.
This is the ideal Starbucks and why I love Starbucks more than perhaps any other international brand. A fireplace, great music, a loooong wooden table at which to get some work done...all good things. Almost always a place to sit as it's quite large. Wifi can be pretty solid if it's a slower time.
(4)Dan K.
Good coffee and enough space to stretch out and put your feet up. The fireplace is a nice touch. The only downside is that the music is often turned up a bit too loud, which makes it a difficult place to read.
(3)Simon L.
I have never seen so many macbooks lined up in one place in my life. Seriously, maybe fifteen or twenty at a time all along the longwood table down the middle of the store. People paying for coffee to use wifi. Unbeleivable business model. Good coffee. Fast line.
(4)Julia F.

(2)Genevieve R.
(2)Hank W.
The Wi-Fi at this location is unusable. I went there to grab a latte and send a few emails, but had to give up after waiting for more than 10 minutes for a single web page refresh.
(2)Allison W.

(4)Christine C.
(3)Soo C.
Big open rectangular space, lots of seating, fireplace, outdoor patio. Nice, but didn't blow my mind. Friendly staff, good green frap. But they were out of salad and other lunch options when I went in around 1pm-ish.
(3)Melissa M.
TO GO!!
(4)Thuy T.
I been coming here for almost a year now and they just never greet me nor even say Thank you. Most of these workers here seem like crappy apples. They are just lucky the drinks are good.
(2)Seth M.
(2)Tunisia M.
(4)Micky L.
I've been living in somerville/medford area for a while. This starbucks is my studying spot in the area. They have many seats, not many outlets but enough. I love the outside space in summer. One thing i need to complain about is that wifi sometimes is very slow.
(4)Melisa S.
(5)Bill G.
(3)Alex Z.
(4)Steph P.
(4)L F.
(3)Elyse H.
(5)Nancy Z.
(4)Vance W.
I tried a change from Dunkin Donuts today. I wasn't shocked after so many years. I once visited a Starbucks on Newbury St. Years ago and still don't understand why people want to take out a loan in order to buy a cup of coffee Starbucks. I had a large frappacinno for & 6 something
(3)Sarah R.
Hooray!
(5)Sarah G.
I promise. Especially if they get a fireplace too :-)
(4)Susan A.
(4)Jill F.
(4)Laura J.
(5)Dave R.
Staff is friendly. Coffee is good. But everybody here is working on a laptop, so the WiFi is kinda congested. Great place to sit & people-watch in Davis Square, though.
(2)Nan A.
Trending down...once comfy, now messy leaning towards a little stinky.
(2)Kristina D.
(4)Erick H.
(4)Kim K.
Totally packed all the time and too dim to really work. I choose Diesel over Starbucks if I'm in Davis and need tea and/or work space.
(2)Apolinaras S.
This Starbucks location is basically refuge from hipster-infested Diesel across the street. Want to sit down with a coffee and a laptop to work - this is the place. Want to be forced to listen to some guy with too tight of the jeans talking just bit too loudly about his conquests - Diesel is for you.
(4)James S.
(1)Meg M.
(3)Rayshauna G.
(4)Dan P.
Great service! Terrible wifi, second only to dial up. If you need Internet to work, consider another location.
(2)Mitch S.
I love the atmsphere there, seriously what other Starbucks has a fireplace in the middle.
(5)Brian D.
(2)Dan P.
(4)Su R.
I'm sad.
(2)Brandon R.
(4)Leighann F.
(4)Rich F.
If you need a consistently average to good cup of coffee that will taste exactly the same every time you order and need a relaxing place to sit while reading, people watching or whatever... go here.

BEST. STAFF. EVER. (also the hottest. mmm, steam my milk any day!)
(4)Sara J.
I love these baristas here! Really nice and quick with the orders. The line can be long in the morning, but that's expected. There's a nice counter area for hanging out at. I like to get some coffee here while I do my laundry next door or on my way to work.
(5)Jessie S.

I love it!
(4)Renee F.
I dropped my chai yesterday morning on my arrival to work. Later, after lunch the same day I went in to purchase another one. I mentioned it to the cashier, and he gave me another one for free! Where do you ever get anything for free? Awesome customer service.
(5)George S.

(4)Trish F.
(4)Lilian W.

(1)Sarah W.
(5)Rhett G.
(4)Elaine A.
YAY!!! Liz is the best barista ever!
(5)Orly M.
This starbucks is awesome because it;'s huge, has a great fireplace, and has breakfast sandwiches which are pretty damn good. I won't give any recommendations because unless you live in Mars, I think you know what's what at Starbucks.
(5)Jim O.
(4)Maria V.
(3)Johnny M.
This place is okay. Not that great. Starbucks sucks in general, and this one is no exception. So three stars, one for good coffee, one for nice staff, and one for open seats. Missing one star for crappy ambience, and one star for horrible food.
(3)Ali W.
(5)Coupé P.
Probably the best Starbucks I have ever been to. It has a fireplace, comfy chairs, rug, and is spacious. Who cares if the coffee isn't the best, it's a nice place to hang out.
(4)Tasha L.
Love love love this location. I concur the staff is awesome...they are extremely friendly and welcoming and seem to be tolerant of having to give the bathroom key to a million people every night..
(5)C.M. M.
Nice location and outside seating. Great service.
(4)Tarn Charles S.
(4)Andrew M.
One star for being across the street from Diesel. I am cool with chains... but not that cool.
(1)Susie C.
(4)Joseph R.
okay so I worked at this starbucks too.....
(3)Dave Q.
This really is a great Starbucks. There is plenty of seating, the staff is nice, and the coffee is what you would expect.
(5)Matthew D.
(4)Emily K.
i much prefer spending money at local coffee shops than at starbucks, but i gotta hand it to this location. the location itself rocks - it's on my way to the train as well as right by the bus stop. plus, it is the biggest freakin' starbucks i've ever seen in my life. book shelf, loads of tables and comfy chairs, *fire place!* besides that, the staff is nice and i still, for the life of me, cannot seem to find a better caramel macc.
(3)Etta M.
this review is not to debate if we should be drinking our coffee here or at diesel or anywhere else. this review is a commentary on the employees at this particular starbucks location. i have found them to be nice, more then nice , on EVERY occasion i have been in there. that is reason enough for me to give them a five star rating.
(5)cindy b.
what is up with the nasty plastic smell in the starbucks these days? They tell me it's the stove/microwave they use for the sandwiches, and they say it starts to smell at the end of the day due to usage.. I find it stinks in there all the time!!
(2)Kelly L.
while i feel like starbucks is a semi boring place to go... this one is great. It's decent size, and they've managed to put a lot of seating in there. Plus there's a fireplace in the center and cushy chairs, if you are lucky enough to snag one. Definitely an A+ starbucks. Although the light can be a little dim if you are trying to read.
(4)buckminster f.
the fireplace here is nice, but the place is always filled with tons of students, many of whom occupy the seats for hours at a time.
(4)Patrick B.
