My lifesaver. Dunkin Donuts pulled through when Boston transportation sucked A$$. My nose a bright magenta and my cheeks stinging, I knew I could rely on Dunkin Donuts to save me from the brutal cold, with a warm hot chocolate. The employees, though a little jaded; because this location is not exactly bumpin with customers, were always friendly, understanding (when I wouldn't buy anything), and were even big fans of my limited Arabic. Dunkin donuts proved their true worth by being the only establishment, (that I was willing to walk through three feet of snow for) open during one of the worst blizzard days. After celebrating a little too fast (about not having to go to work)my roommate and I were desperately trying to figure a place that delivered. With no hope in sight, we trudged over to Dunkin Donuts, and grabbed a box of 12 scrumptious glazed donuts. Sugar fried dough - never tasted so good.

I asked them to toast the croissant they were using to make my sandwich. They refused. I guess I looked pretty stunned, because when I was momentarily speechless they asked why, and I explained very politely that no dunkies had ever refused to toast a croissant for me before. They insisted that this was impossible, no dunkin donuts would ever have toasted my croissant, because it was against policy. So, without using the word, they called me a liar, and I was offended. Further, the woman at the register insisted on calling over her two coworkers to argue with me, even though I really just wanted to get my sandwich so I could eat rather than argue. I finally had to say something like "CAN I PLEASE JUST PAY FOR MY SANDWICH SO I CAN GO?" before they shut up about it and let me pay. I should have just left. A week later they had a sign up advertising toasted sandwiches, with a picture of a sandwich on a croissant. And they toasted my croissant for me.

I may be becoming a bit lenient with my star-rating, but I feel as though there is a considerable jump from three stars to four stars, painful mediocrity to near greatness, but in this case, I offer an explanation: stellar mediocrity = four stars! This Dunk's is on my way to work everyday, so it bears the burden of a large sample space of my visits, canceling out any chance of a "fluke" experience. Still, though, it has shone bright onto the sidewalk of Highland Ave. There is a private lot across the street for customers, but, if you're lucky, you can try to snag one of the few street spots right out front for a quick "in and out". It's located right at a bus stop, and because business is never packing the place to the brink (to say the least), you can feel pretty confident that there will be more of a crowd outside than inside, heightening the fear of tripping and spilling out of the door to raucous laughter. It is a culturally diverse team manning the iced coffee machine, with my favorite Dunker being Jatinder, an Indian dude in his mid-twenties with the greatest "I hate you and everything about you, not to mention all of these people" face I have seen in recent history. Even through the loathing stares, my man always hooks me up with a well-blended iced coffee, followed by an angry snatch of my debit card, and, SOMETIMES, a "Have a nice day." Sometimes you want a little more than just ground beans to start your day.

i ADORE this dunkin donuts, which is dangerous because it's around the corner from my house. i'm in there nearly every day for a medium black iced coffee, and it's always excellent. i don't know if these guys just actually know how to make coffee, or if it's always really fresh, but it was WAY better than your typical dunkin donuts. either that or i'm so lazy that i've convinced myself that it's the best so i don't have to walk more than half a block for my caffeine fix. either way, i love it.

Let's face it. A tuna sandwich from D&D sounds skeptical, right? Wrong, wrong, oh so wrong. The tuna on a lightly toasted croissant is scrumptious. The lady preparing it changed her gloves everytime she handled the croissant, the tuna container, or the wrapper. Totally hygienic. Like magic, the sandwich disappeared in the stomach.

It's Dunkins. Their coffee is consistently on par with the franchise. It's on the smaller size. Staff are typically ok; some friendly and some just get your order right. It's all you can really expect from a Dunkins around these parts. There is parking across the street. It is my preferred dunks in my neighborhood (winter hill)- I despise the one on the corner of McGrath and Broadway.

No one is ever at the counter when I arrive, the service consistently feels brusque and unaccommodating even without a crowd, and my coffee order is often wrong on top of it all. This is pretty much my least favorite Dunkin' Donuts location and I only come here it when I'm at my most desperate.
