I literally just left this place and was so disgusted I had to write a review. Here's my story. I just walked in for a drink with my girlfriend. We ordered the bourbon spoon and the Harvey Wallbanger. Both drinks sounded pretty interesting on the menu. Ours were disgusting. I'm not blaming the drinks here I'm calling out the management. Here's why. I watched a bartender mix a cocktail and put it into one of the many styles of glass at her disposal. To her credit, using all this weird glassware would make any bartenders job hard. She misjudged how much of the drink would fit in the glass and when she realized there was too much ice she proceeded to pick the ice out of the drink with her fingers. She then completed the drink with garnish and put it on the service bar. Her colleagues, who obviously don't trust her work, proceeded to taste the drinks she just made. The gross part is they drank it as if it was their drink, as in mouth on the rim of the glass. Once they decided the drinks weren't good, they tried to modify the drink. In the end the customer ended up with a drink with 2 ice cubes towering over the top of the glass as well as the saliva of the daddy Jones staff. For the record bartenders SHOULD taste their work by putting a clean straw in the drink, placing a finger over the top and transferring the drink to their mouth. That's what the health department likes to call sanitary. I paid my $19 tab and I left a 20% tip because honestly I don't think the staff knows any better and they shouldn't suffer because the management put them in that position.

I took my mother to Daddy Jones for mother's day after my 2 bartender roommates told me they had heard good things about it. I could not have been happier with the experience we had. I e-mailed the restaurant ahead of time and the owner, Dimitra, responded to all of my questions extremely quickly. We made reservations for sunday brunch. Not that we're a competitive family, but my mother's meal was declared the winner of mother's day brunch with the Mac Daddy mac n cheese dish which she ordered alongside a strawberry and watermelon sorbet mimosa. More the beer fans, my father and i had no problem ordering off their delicious beer menu. I loved the decor and the fact that Bill Cosby, figure skating, and some sort of vaudeville act were on the different TVs made my inner child so happy. Not to mention Otis Redding and Tom Jones were played back to back at one point during my meal. We were able to talk to Dimitra about the restaurant and she was so incredibly personable and friendly. I'm honestly already thinking of excuses to go back. To quote my dad, "if i had a tail, it would be waggin."

Sit outside in the beautiful new patio!!! Strong cocktails - I actually didn't need a second one! Delicious apps - the fried cheese triangles were my favorite. The fried zucchini with the garlic-potato-mash was tasty and different (and I burped garlic the rest of the night, which I'm happy with!). The sweet potato fries with honey and cheese were a bit too sweet for me, and I kind of wanted to dip them because the other apps were dips...but they were still very tasty. The burger was excellent and service was so good that I tipped over my usual high range. Maybe it was the booze. I'm looking forward to returning!

Overall a great neighborhood place but my one complaint would be that the service could be improved. Not sure if there was only 1 waiter for the whole outside area but it took a good amount of time at every stage of the meal. He also messed up 2/3 orders. I got the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and it was really good! As was my Storm trooper cocktail. I love the addition of the outdoor patio! This area needed it! Will definitely give this place a second shot because of the food & drinks but I hope their staff grows with them!

- BOTTOM LINE: Surprisingly good food, surprisingly mediocre drinks. Godzilla was playing on the television which was nice. Nothing makes for a more delightful bar dinner than watching Ken Wantanabe stare ominously off camera (seriously). -THE SPACE: Nice

Had an amazing time on their back patio last night. Delicious food and wine with great service. Realized today that I had left my camera bag under the table. Went back 24 hours later with little hope of finding it, but the wait staff had tucked it away in a cabinet. SO relieved and grateful! Thanks Daddy Jones

Daddy Jones was 1 of the best places I've ever been to in my entire life. I loved absolutely everything. The ambience and the food were beyond incredible. I cannot wait to return... and return... and return... I hope this place lasts for an eternity. The food was sensational. Obsessed. Thanks for doing great things.

I have never eaten food here, although I have gone for cocktails many times before (I used to live just a couple blocks a way, and re-visited the old haunt last night, prompting this review). This is a cocktail-lover's cocktail bar. A little gem in a seeming-dead zone of the outskirts of Somerville, near Medford. Although the drink menu they present seems relatively limited, they will make you basically anything you ask for, and are quick to suggest favorites or try new things with a little prompting. The lighting is a little dark, reminiscent of bars like Drink in South Boston, but it makes for a great late-night date, or a place to stop by after dinner.

Had the lamb souvla wrap. It comes with tzatziki and fries inside, and dressed greens on the side. It was SO good. Lamb was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The drink special was something like an aperol prosecco slushie and it was AMAZING. My group of 4 was a walk-in on a Tuesday night around 8 and we were able to sit down right away on their new patio. Great service, reasonable-ish prices for high quality food. I'll be back!

A cool, rectangular space using old gym lockers mounted on the wall as shelving. Large glass windows allow you to look into Medford street and are punctuated with high top tables across from the long bar. Odd choices for tv programs - ESPN, '80's murder mystery, couldn't see the other screen. Nothing on the menu is over $20. Drinks are poured thick and heavy. Well mixed and cold. Chicken tszouvlaki ($10) served in a pita with tzatziki well seasoned with dill or over a salad. Either plate comes with french fries. The salad version is in a bowl dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Smoked herring ($10) over grilled romaine is a large plate with grilled bread and a light oil dressing. Deep fried zucchini ($10) is a large serving of vegetables breaded thickly, fried hard, and served with a bean and garlic dip. Service is slow and servers watch as plates sit on tables for long periods of time. Other than this minor glitch, good food, friendly service.

I challenge management/ownership to dispute our experience, we were sitting right under a security camera and arrived at around 8:30 on Saturday May 3rd. Stopped by Daddy Jones, this was my 3rd visit. I really liked this place, it's great menu with creative cocktails. Rarely do I downgrade an establishment or bother to update a review because of one poor service experience alone, but this was simply the worst and most hostile experience I have ever had at a restaurant. It was so bad my friend and I stewed for the next 30 minutes about it... Scratch that, our service was so bad it consumed our conversations for the rest of our night. We sat at 2 open seats at the center of the bar and were quickly were asked to move to the end/corner of the bar because the arrangement made more sense for therm, yeah no sweat... We ordered our first drinks, no problem. We both finish our first drinks, they sit there empty for about 10 minutes after finishing and I'm forced to break a cardinal bar rule, I get out of my seat and walk down to the other side of the bar to tell the bartender my order while telling her I hate being that guy. Our next round comes as well as the sweet potato fries covered on cheese and honey. We had the nerve to request forks and napkins and also got an eye roll, then when she came back with them I asked for ketchup, she had to make 2 trips, you would have thought I asked for her first born. The fries were delicious so we were willing to cast all of this off... Then my friend made the sorry mistake of trying to get in one more drink. Ordered a rum and coke, arguably the quickest and easiest to to push out... And waited a good 10 minutes after placing the order when the 2nd bartender walks by. Bartender #2 walks by the end of the bar and my friend, in the most polite tone, excuses himself and inquires about his drink. Bartender #2 raises her hands and her voice and tells us that she is busy and to wait our turn. Mind you, the restaurant was not at full capacity. I had to interject, I tell her we have had bad service all night, our drink were ordered 10 minutes ago, that there was no need for the tone, and that we now just wanted our check. She doesn't get our check, tells bartender #1 and makes us wait another 5 minutes before bartender #1 just drops off our check, no eye contact, no apology, no mention of the forgotten rum and coke. Bill was $39, we lay down $40... I can't remember the last time I could justify not leaving a tip. Bartender #2 comes back, asking if we want change to leave a tip, I tell her the poor service combined with the lack of any apology for it is good reason for not leaving one. She then starts basically yelling at us. Bartender #2 continued to tell us out of the bar...
Love Daddy Jones! The cocktails are excellent, and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff is absolutely wonderful, especially Dimitra. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Daddy Jones. We couldn't think of a better place. It feels like an extension of home, and Dimitra was amazing about helping us settle on food for our guests. When everyone was running so late because of traffic (leave it to me to have a rehearsal dinner at 5 on a Friday in the Boston area!), she didn't sweat it at all and made me feel so much better. Almost a year later and our guests are still raving about it.

I dig this spot. Came with a friend for bingo night and had a few mixed drinks. I enjoyed my cocktail- I had some sort of punch concoction and the bartender was super friendly and welcoming. I will be back and will be trying the food next time I go.

How do I love thee, Daddy Jones? Let me count the ways. The bartenders are always really friendly, the cocktails are delicious and rotate just often enough to keep it interesting, and they're one of the only bars I can think of that specialises in Greek food. The dip and pita is a favourite of mine -- add on the skordalia! If you wanted to watch MacGyver or some other 80s rerun while you nurse your drink, they have you so covered. Something like that is always playing on the TV in the corner. It's also generally quiet. I hope they're getting enough business; they're really good and deserve to stick around.

I had a Gilt City deal for this place and SO glad to have a reason to venture out and try it! I loved the interior - it was a mix of homey, southern, and modern. They have adorable plateware and a lot to just...look at as you're waiting for your food and scoping out the place. Wait staff were attentive and friendly so no complaints there. Now for food: I had the Strawberry Pimm's which was so delicious to start. We ordered the calamari and fried zucchini as our appetizers. Both were great though I preferred using the calamari dipping sauce with the zucchini. The sauce with the zucchini was a mild garlic-like sauce. For mains, he got the Chris's burger and I got the chicken dinner - both were awesome! The chicken was amazingly moist and the kale greens were delicious. The eggplant 'stew' was more of a salsa but also packed a punch in flavor (Thanksgiving-esque with its hints of cinnamon). I definitely took home leftovers and enjoyed the rest later. The burger was great too - juicy and packed with flavor. We were wary of the english muffin as buns but it was great! If we were locals, we'd totally come back but just might pay another visit if we're in the neighborhood!

I just ordered delivery through Mixmenu for this restaurant, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. First off, there was a handwritten note thanking me for my order, and informing me that they'd included a free Greek salad. The second impression is that they're using Chinese food takeout boxes, which is soooo smart because they are the best. I got the spanikopita with bacon marmalade, and they were delicious. I've never had a bacon marmalade before, but it was vinegary and flavorful, and really added something to the spinach pies. You can really taste oregano, lemon, and olive oil and that's always what you want with good Greek food. The Greek salad was actually really good, a kind of marinated mix of grape tomatoes, red onions, cucumber, olives, and some other good stuff. The included pita triangles were warm and delicious, and the feta was very good. It's a smart move, giving this as a freebie, because it makes a great impression on every level. The Mac Daddy (mac and cheese with bacon and tomato) is just... amazing. The mix of feta and other cheese adds a kind of depth that really works with the tomato, and the bacon is just... these guys know bacon. It's actually a topping of crispy bacon chunks, so the bacon is crisp and fresh with every bite. Yum. YUM. The mixed green side-salad was a nice follow-up as well, and very fresh. My friend had the chicken Souvlas, and I had a taste... VERY good, and right on the money for authenticity. It's not a gyro, it's more in common with shawarma, but with the Greek spices. The fries wrapped in are just... I wanted more than a bite and lets leave it at that. Finally, the Loukoumados... little fried dough balls drizzled in honey. Get them. Get them.

We waited close to 2 hours for our meals. Then when they were finally brought to our table it was not what was on the menu that we ordered. The waitress brought my dish back into the kitchen and came out with the same dish.....telling me it was thick bacon when it was obviously chicken. I would have no reservation giving negative stars if possible.

"Brunching Around Town" While I love Daddy Jones this was my first foray their for BRUNCH. What I an tell you for sure...is that it won't be my last Brunch Excursion there! Outstanding French Toast! Thick cuts of French Toast were decadent......custardy deliciousness.....almost like Bread Pudding for breakfast! Of course I had to sample more than that. On this visit, we opted for the steak tips....tender, cooked to perfection and the flavor, from a marinade I guess, was tasty! Daddy Jones offers an array of meats on a stick....a must try for my next visit, along with the ultimate Zucchini Fries! It's hard to visit Daddy Jones without ordering the Zucchini Fries for me! Just superb! See Ya Soon DJ's!

Great atmosphere. Love the music and seeing old tv shows playing, but you can also catch the game which is nice. Never been there without getting seated right away. Burgers are great. Drinks are tasty and the bartenders are friendly. Definitely a great spot to check out in magoun!

The wife and I walked into Daddy Jones this afternoon (Sunday) and walked out about 90 minutes later totally satisfied. There's a nice local tap list available (Slumbrew on tap!) and a serious choice of ryes and bourbons to be had. We both lazily stuck with the solid Harpoon Rye IPA. The wife also noted the wide selection of bitters available, adding that it is a reason to trust the bar. This is one of many reasons that I married my treasure. I enjoyed the cheeseburger with Greek cheese AND Greek salad dressing. It's not as rich as one Might imagine. Eaten with the lettuce, tomatoes, and chopped veggie bits on the burger, I was tricked into thinking I was eating a Greek salad. On its own, the burger tasted fresh and was not too much of a meat cake, even though i had to dislodge my jaw to get the first bite. Tricky Daddy Jones. That's one sexy burger. The wife had the basic omelette with home fries and toast. The omelette highlight was the Greek cheese and (her words) the basic nature of the omelette. It wasn't stuffed with a dozen ingredients, but was still delicious on its own. The home fries were serious business: a crisp exterior with a tender interior united by a smoky flavor that was not chipotle and only slightly paprika'd. The toast was a hearty cinnamon raisin bread. Dee-lite-ful. We spent half of our time at the bar planning our next visit and the other half chatting with the super nice staff. I realized after seeing Yelp reviews that the Cosby episodes are always on. That, I could give one shit about. If they start playing Get Smart episodes, book me a 12 step program because I'm paying rent at their bar. Verdict: I will check this slice of Heaven out again!

Delicious! Just moved to the neighborhood and wandered down here with a friend after spending the day unpacking. Their dinner menu is short and sweet, but man, ALL of the food was absolutely delicious!!! We ordered the fried zucchini as a starter-- amazing. The sauce that came with it was absolutely delicious! The burgers were cooked to order and some of the best I've had in the area. Bar has a neighborhood feel, large enough to hang out, but intimate enough to not be overwhelming. Definitely looking forward to going back!

I finally realized what has always been missing from my bar experiences: classic 80s TV shows on mute. While I never had an affinity for Miami Vice, Daddy Jones stands out from nearly every other bar in Boston by simply having something on the tube besides NESN. This relative newcomer is modestly decorated with lots of vintage glassware lining re-purposed locker shelves, but still with a modern feel overall. The cocktail list upon first glance seems to skew to sweeter drinks, but the Dirty Dill Infused Gin is made for people like me who have been known to drink pickle juice straight. Lip puckering amounts of olive brine and dilly gin, garnished with a cornichon, olive, and pickled green bean is exactly how I want a martini. The ingredient list didn't inspire me to try the Grape Crush until I saw a few of them made while seated at the bar. Muddled grapes and lemon, cognac, framboise, topped with Cava, this cocktail was surprisingly balanced and still was reminiscent of its namesake in the best way possible. The Greek inspired food menu is broken up into Starters: Finger Foods and In Between, and Fork and Knife. I assumed the small plate of smoked herring would be just that, but the portion was pretty impressive: a large dish of intensely salty, crispy bits of herring in lemon olive oil with fried capers, lemon, and grilled romaine. The meatballs (4 to an order) were large and tender, though the tomato sauce was nothing exceptional. The pork souvlaki special featured tender marinated chunks of pig with sweet potato fries rolled inside in addition to a healthy serving on the side as well. Having only stopped in on low-key Wednesday evenings, the service has always been attentive, friendly, and efficient. I'm usually a creature of habit in my own neighborhood, but Daddy Jones is a good reason to hop a bus up to Magoun for some inventive food, tasty drinks, and pop culture discussions stemming from Theo Huxtable's ear piercing rebellion.

Our go-to neighborhood spot. Everything we've eaten (which is like 2/3rds the menu) has been delicious and all of our drinks have been tasty. Plus, the service is awesome. Example - our first two times were like two months apart, but, our waiter remembered us. The most recent time we went, we talked to the owner for a bit too. Every time we go, we have great food, great drinks, and awesome service. What is not to love? It is everything I want in a neighborhood spot! Ok, for balance, one negative. $6 for a Harpoon Winter Warmer is a little steep, as are most of their beer prices in comparison to the area.

I moved to Magoun Square just about a year ago, and Daddy Jones opened up not too long ago but I already know this is just what Magoun needed. It's otherwise a place full of sports/dive bars. The beer selection is great and the prices are reasonable ($6 IPA, okay!). The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. I enjoy the vintage decor and definitely, the Cosby show will suck you right in! If you're there on the hour you can experience the beauty and nostalgia of the working cuckoo clock, too :)

This place is right across the street from my new apartment in Magoun Square in Somerville. In the month that I have been in the area, I walked past this place a few times and couldn't tell if it was dive, a towney bar or what, so since I was alone on Easter and every other place was closed, I decided to check it out. What I found when I went inside pleasently surprised me. First off, this place is kind of funky...and I mean that in a good way. The decor is a mix of 80's and 90's, fancy lights on the tables and these really expensive looking glasses you get when you order a drink. I really can't describe it actually...just go on in and check it out yourself! One cool thing is that they have various 80's shows playing on a few of the TV's....so far I have seen The Cosby Show and McGuyver playing, as well as 80's and 90's music, which I happen to love. Last time I was in, I suggested they start playing re-runs of Cheers, so we'll see...haha. They also have sports on too, this being Boston and all. I'm a big whiskey drinker, so I ordered the drink called the Bourbon Spoon. It's bourbon with vermouth and a spoonful of this Greek (oh yeah, this place has a greek style drink and food menu, being that the owner is greek) candy at the bottom that soaks up all the bourbon. Again, kinda funky and hard to describe, so just stop in and try it yourself. Nevertheless, it was excellent. I have also had a few manhattans here as well, and they are also excellent with pretty good pours. The only thing I have ever eaten here is the marinated olives w/ grilled bread app, and that was very good. I have seen some of the food other people were eating, and I will definitely be trying more of the food selections. Probably the best thing about this place is the vibe. It's not snooty, the owner Dimitra seems very friendly, and the bartender Stephanie is equally as friendly and pretty chatty. The only thing that stops this place from getting a 5-star rating is that their draft beer selection is a little lacking IMO, but I get the feeling that's not really what they are going for in this bar. I plan to make this place one of my neighborhood staples!

Meridith H.
The cocktail list here is really fun; most recently, I had the pleasure to imbibe a glass full of dill infused gin (which came with a skewer of good crunchies on top). The menu is limited, but includes quality items and the service is extraordinarily attentive for a busy bar. This is one of the few destination spots in the Medford area.

I want to love Daddy Jones, as it's within easy walking distance of my house, but I just can't bring myself to find it more than average. To it's credit, it's really well decorated and has a great atmosphere, and the staff is nice and attentive. They have quality cocktails and I could just stop the review here and say this a great place to drop in to for a quick cocktail. However, their beer list really falls flat. In this day and age if you're going to hype yourself as a bar you need to be able to select beers - their winter draft selection is full of summer beers and their summer selection is full of winter beers. I just don't get it. Their wine can also be hit or miss. I've only eaten there once, and the food was just OK - but that was a while ago and it's possible they improved it since then.

I was instantly sold on Daddy Jones once I read a review via Urban Daddy that 80s tv shows were played here on loop. The nostalgia for such delights as The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the Cosby Show, as well as the menu, lured me all the way from Brighton to the boondocks of Maguan Sq in Somerville. Upon finding this mysterious Square in the bowels of Somerville I was intrigued by Daddy Jones, but slightly put off by the obnoxious hipsters that refused to move out of the door way despite my repeated "excuse mes." After a shove or two thrown their way I made it to the host and was told it was a 30-60 minute wait. They took my number and told me they'd call me when the table was ready. I headed across the street for a drink. Thank goodness I decided to eat there because the Daddy Jones' assholes NEVER CALLED ME BACK! No wonder this place is in the middle of nowhere Somerville rather than Downtown or Backbay. Good luck to ya, Daddy Jones. You definitely need it.

So I wanted to tell you all about my new favorite resto/bar in Somerville- Daddy Jones. I love me some Greek-American fare any day of the week and there are plenty options on the menu. May I recommend for you the roasted stuffed eggplant, fried zucchini and of course chicken souvlaki wrap with tzatziki (I dare you to say that three times in a row). Finish with ice cream topped with cherries. The portions are generous, like Greek mother trying to feed you generous. Come for the Mac Daddy (mac 'n cheese and bacon!) and stay for episodes of The Cosby Show playing on the tv. Also it doesn't hurt that it's stumbling distance to my parent's place, allowing me to relieve my teenage years all over again. Win-win.

FINALLY a restaurant in Boston that uses garlic and salt in their food. Why so bland, Boston? Sweet features: good mix-drinks and a limited-but-solid beer selection, cool decor, good service, awesome throwback TV shows (Cosby Show when I was there), and 90s jams playing overhead. Candy Rain by Soul For Real came on... seriously. It's legit. BUT, like I said, GARLIC AND SALT. And fried food. Get the fried zucchini. The Mac Daddy is ridiculous. It has pork belly and comte in it. Get it. And the Grilled Sausage Sandwich is a delicious mess. The Dirty Dill Infused Gin kicked this beer-drinker's ass, so I passed it off to my BF - it still tasted amazing, I'm just a wimp. I stole his Grey Hound and it was killer. Prices are good, too. It's a pretty small place, and as another reviewer remarked, the layout they went with isn't the most space efficient. There's NO standing room if you just want to grab a drink and hang. I saw quite a few people grab drinks, stand awkwardly/uncertainly in a corner, and then leave because it was uncomfortable. It's good and close to my house. Go spend your money here so it doesn't shut down.

We'd heard about this place for a while and decided to give them a few weeks to sort out the kinks. I typically don't like going to a restaurant right after it opens but this place was pretty damn good. We showed up around 8 on a Friday night and found two seats at the bar. By the way, there's plenty of parking at the CVS across the street if you don't live within walking distance. We'd never been there when it was Lil Vinny's so we were a little surprised at how small it was but it seemed laid out pretty well. The bar isn't huge but the decor was interesting and the drinks were pretty damn good. She got a Blue Hawaiian that the bartender told us was made with blue Jolly Ranchers. I thought that was pretty cool and the drink was pretty tasty. I enjoy how they had Pretty Things Jack D'or on draft. Way to keep it local. The bartender was super nice and always on top of his game. When he noticed the kitchen forgot our appetizers, he apologized and then they were in front of us within 2 minutes. Good enough for me. Apps were pretty good. We went with the olives and zucchini. Zucchini app was huge and really tasty. For entree's we went with the lamb skewer and mac'n cheese. To be honest, we weren't all that hungry after a couple drinks and apps but they were good stuff. Only critique of the mac n cheese would be a little bread crumb on top. Bacon and tomato was good but a little crunch never hurts when it comes to mac n cheese. Overall, we'll be back because we live close by. But even if we weren't we'd add it to the rotation. It's unique and a fun time.

TL;DR: Cool decor, nice drinks, not too expensive - NO SPORTS ON TV's. Woo hoo! Daddy Jones recently replaced an Italian restaurant called "Lil Vinny's". Vinny's was in my opinion an ugly place that served "cafeteria-style" Italian foods. There are people that raved about it and now are hating on Yelp because Daddy Jones replaced it. Having said that, Daddy Jones is NOTHING like Little Vinny's. It's modern, clean and 'fun'. The drinks are very creative and the prices very reasonable. Typical menu coctails rane from $8-$12 and drought beers between $5 - $7. Most of the restaurant is taken up by the long bar, however there are tables as well. This place definitely feels like a bar and and hang out place where you can grab food, rather than a restaurant. The best thing about this place is: they are not showing sports on TV. Oh god.. thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't have anything against sports, but every bar in Somerville does this including more upscale places like Highland Kitchen. It's really nice to be in a place that doesn't show sweaty guys from 43 screens. Instead of sports they show 80's shows like "21 Jump Street" and "Cosby Show" One recommendation is that there no vegetarian entree on the menu. I'm assuming that they are still getting started over there and will probably add something soon. Until then we will probably eat across the road at Magoun Saloon (that has a couple veg options) and then come to Daddy's for a drink.

I think their stuffed eggplant might be my new favorite thing. Daddy Jones is quite a hike from my Inman apt, but it was a very nice day, so we thought we'd take a leisurely walk up to DJ for some food and bevs. We weren't super hungry so we split the stuffed eggplant (WOW) and lamb skewers (also delicious). It was a tough call because everything on the menu sounded awesome. Their offerings are different than the typical items you see at similar cocktail lounge-type restaurants. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu. The cocktail with grapefruit juice and gin was very refreshing. Prices are also fair for the quality. Check it out!

Boyfriend is moving to Magoun Square and we've been checking out the various local restaurants and bars. Daddy Jones is the gem of the Square. The menu is small, but concise. The Greek influence on traditional dishes is unique and well done. The cocktail menu takes classic concoctions, adds a twist and delivers. And they were totally able to accommodate my gluten allergy without difficulty. And for fun, they add a few games scattered about and The Cosby Show on continuous loop on one of the televisions. Don't worry though, football was playing on the other on the Sunday night we were there. All in all, it was a great meal and I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

Daddy Jones is a nice addition to the neighborhood as someplace that you can grab a bite or a glass of wine. I've been now once on a week night for dinner and once on opening weekend for a drink. On the weekend it was evident that the layout of this long narrow place was a bit lacking. No good standing room if you couldn't snag a seat at the bar or table. Also in the space that used to be the entrance to Lil Vinny's but is now a strange 2-person bar is not well designed or used. I didn't understand why they chose to lay it out that way because its a huge waste of space. On the weekday it was much better because it wasn't as crowded. You could chill at the bar or at a table, watching the Cosby show. They have a very limited menu. The food is definitely an after thought here. And while its nice to have a place that doesn't give you giant portions of greasy bar food - I wouldn't say the food is anything special.

Sorry Daddy Jones! My wife and I really wanted to give your place another chance after a slightly strange experience last year. The sausage sandwich I had was bizarre- the bread all too doughy and the fries were, I don't have other words for it - other than strange. Not asking the world, we appreciate that we are miles from Greece and things won't ever be quite like they are there but... Service even at the bar was slow, and my wife had a glass of red that tasted very cheap. Happy to hear your response!

My (extended) neighborhood needed a place like this and I'm sorry I haven't been earlier . Getting a seat was easy for a Friday night. Service was great. We were directed to a table as soon as we walked through the door and our server (Christopher from the receipt) was super great about refilling the water glass I was downing. He had good commentary on the drinks my friend and I were debating ordering, and the Old Fashioned with the carrot juice talked up was wonderful. (Who knew? But this is how I will get my intake of carrot juice in the future.) They were even attentive enough to give us extra bread for the mussel sauce, and extra napkins when I took out my stress from my terrible, horrible, no-good, rotten business week on the one provided and it ended up a torn, crumpled up mess on my lap. Food was delicious. Mussels, yum. Pita and dip, also very good. Sweet potato fries are more my friend's deal, but she was very pleased. Also, LADIES, I noticed from my seat that there are hooks on the wall under the bar for your purses. I don't think guys understand this, but this is a huge deal at crowded bars. They cost almost nothing, so good on Daddy Jones for being smart about it. I'm tired of walking into bars that didn't want to spend $15 on stupid hooks. Finally, when one drink took more than, I don't know, 3 minutes to be made, they left it off the bill. Nice job. I'll be back.

This rating is based on a first visit to Daddy Jones on a Saturday evening for a cocktail only. First, the ambiance disappointed, since I had higher expectations from what I had read, and photos I'd seen. But second, and most important, none of the featured cocktails listed on the menu were particularly appealing. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she told me that a drink called "Bootsie Collins" was their most popular. It was made with lavender infused gin, a taste I was skeptical of. Still trying to make a decision, another waiter came over and also said it was the most popular cocktail and recommended it. So I went for it. It was pretty much the worst cocktail I've had in my life. Notwithstanding the lavender, it was very bitter (and I'm not averse to bitter as I'm a big fan of IPA beers). My friend also tasted it and had the same opinion. When we left, the waiter asked me how I liked the cocktail and I told him the truth. He didn't seem to care at all. Too bad. I'll never return to Daddy Jones again.

These guys fucking try. It's not always perfect, but I think it will be eventually. That's it.

I love this place. I've gone here a bunch of times with a variety of friends, and everybody has loved it. The bartender (how do I still not know his name?) recognizes me every time and automatically knows what drink I want - which, by the way, is some sort of lemon, mint, ginger beer, bourbon concoction he made up for me months ago. He is extremely pleasant, attentive, and makes a damn good drink. Everybody who works here is awesome, the Mac and Cheese is super delicious, and the drinks are tasty and effective. And that bartender is the best. Definitely go here. Highly recommended.

Awesome new neighborhood spot! Teeny, tiny little place, but a lot to offer. Delicious drinks and food, super friendly bar staff, amazing service, great music. I felt super comfortable there. The ambiance is perfect. Can't wait to go back!

The bar was nice with good, reasonably priced drinks. The bartenders were attentive and made very tasty cocktails. When I was there, I came with a group of friends--regulars, who try their best to give this bar business. The owner--or, at least, someone who is related to the owners--was working on the night I visited. She was standing behind the bar, and I tried to order from her. However, she didn't even know what was on tap...AT HER OWN BAR! Another bartender had to come to tell me if they had any IPAs on tap. Later in the night, the owner--quite randomly--shows up at our table accusing the entire group of bringing their own booze to the bar, threatening to call the cops, and trying to throw us out. I was in a party of six and everyone was very quiet and respectful at the bar. The owner, however, saw one person getting sleepy and assumed they were drunk: Not off of the bar liquor, but off of her own. This wasn't the case: She bought many dollars worth of liquor at Daddy Jones, as did we all. My first time at Daddy Jones, I was forced to confront the owner with these facts. I think she knew she was in the wrong, and was unable to accept these facts. She kept trying to assert her position by threatening to call the police and kick us out. I stood up for my respectful friends by letting her know that our business would never....and I truly mean never...be here again. I give this place two stars because they have such potential. They need to sell the place to new owners that are not blatantly rude to their paying and respectful customers. I can understand trying to kick people out that are having bar fights, etc... But respectful customers that you accuse--based on suspicion--of bringing in outside liquor? That's not right...especially when we have a bill that shows our alcohol consumption. Daddy Jones has potential, a great vibe, and nice drinks. But...their owners need to get their shit together. I loved the place for an hour and would have brought many more dollars to their profit margin...until the owner was a complete bitch. You've lost customers, and I hope that this review makes you lose many more.

Great drinks. Love Cosby on in the background. Wish there was either a more extensive menu to make it a resteruant, or more room to make it a bar,

I was going to wait to review Daddy Jones until I'd been a few times, but I feel like I have to combat the one star review left here. As a Magoun Square native, I've been waiting for this place to open for quite some time. Though I was surprised to see how small the space is (looks bigger from the outside), I think it's laid out well. I love the decor and chill atmosphere. Oh and the music is super fun. I came with 4 other people and the staff was very accomodating, letting us smoosh around a table probably intended for two. We ordered several drinks (Grey Hound-yum! Wine cooler-yummier!) and just about everything on the food menu. The food was all AMAZING. I've been dreaming about the phyllo triangles ever since! And don't miss the mac & cheese-so good. Was the service perfect? No. Was it their first night? Yes. Everybody had a smile on their face and apologized when anything was slower than it should have been. We even got some free bread and olive oil since it was kind of slow. I suspect in a week or so they'll have the service glitches ironed out. I'm really glad to see a fun, laid back place like Daddy Jones move into my neighborhood. I can't wait to become a regular.

This place had been recommended to me by a friend of mine who is very much into dining out, so I was eager to give it a go. I remember looking over the dinner menu and deciding there wasn't much that caught my eye (I'm vegetarian, and I think there were limited options) so we went for Sunday brunch instead. The food was great! I had a giant portion of french toast with whipped cream and fruit for $7 which was awesome. Cocktails were a little pricey for how small they were, but they looked great when they came out, and I know they infuse a lot of the vodkas etc on-site which is cool, but since I didn't try one I can't tell you what they were like. Waitress was also very attentive and super friendly, which was nice. The BIG downside to me about this place is the way the coffee thing is set up. You buy your meal and cocktails etc from the waitress/bar but have to go to a separate guy for your coffee. Ok, this is fine, but the coffee was $3 a pop, (and $3 for an espresso, making a red-eye $6... waaay too expensive) and had no free refills. He also has to be paid separately which is kind of strange. Coffee is an essential part of the brunch experience for me, and I just didn't like this. If it were all included on one tab, and was a bit cheaper, that would be sweet, but why would I pay $6 for 2 morning coffees with brunch when most places will do unlimited refills for say $2.50?

I went to Daddy Jones on May 3 with my Aunt and had a great food experience. The place took over Little Vinnies as many people have mentioned in past posts. The food was delicious. We had cheese pies, fried zucchini, olive/feta plate, lamb skewers, beef skewers and a watermelon/feta salad. They were all extremely fresh and tasted great. The cocktail concoctions are definitely for the adventurous type but their Sex on the Beach was great. The ginger in that cocktail was so good! If you are looking for a martini they don't have martini glasses but they will put it in a goblet type of glass which ends up knocking you out because you almost get 2 cocktails worth in that one glass! I would describe this place as a Greek-fusion. Turns out it is owned by a Greek woman and you can tell with a lot of the high quality Greek products like the olives and feta. The only thing that is odd is the space. The tables are a bit crammed but honestly the food is worth it. Some of the wait staff are a bit young and almost unfamiliar with the menu, but I know they are still fairly new so I think that is okay. They were super nice, however! I will definitely go again!

I can't speak for the food, but everytime my fiance and I go, the drinks are impeccable, the staff are genuinely friendly, and I absolutely adore how the always have 90's tv on the tube. Can't get enough of that Cosby Show. The ambiance is very comfy too; classy without being stifling. My favorite drink to order is the Harvey Wallbanger. It comes with an orange juice ice cube I get to push around my glass while making doe-eyes at my boytoy. Glad to have this in the neighborhood!!

The staff are what make this place great. They are so friendly and fun. I will be coming back here again to try their food and hopefully bump up to 5 stars. The food menu is small but the drink list is solid and they are the type that will try anything for you! They also have a decent wine list which some smaller bars neglect. This is a neighborhood joint, small, clean and cozy. One request Big Daddy - can you make a mac & cheese w/out bacon?

Been there twice. Once for dinner and drinks, once for brunch. Both were delicious. Bonus points for the Black Magic Coffee bar at brunch and Doogie Howser on during dinner. Will be back, for sure.

Could not wait to try this place since it opened and finally did a couple nights ago. I got wine, and the others got a manhattan mix tape. although our table was off to the side, i was happy to see that the bar was packed and i loved the atmosphere- small and cozy. We ordered the pita and dip and phyllo to start- all terrific and almost bizarre that we could get such authentic greek food at such a young fun bar. For the main course, we each got the lamb skewers- delicious and filling. Between this and old magoun's saloon, i see little reason to venture all the way to Davis Square when I have great places right nearby (maybe now the traffic will be leaving the square and coming here?)

New hot spot in the neighborhood! Their food is great (try the chicken wrap or their spanakopita!) and their bartenders are all really nice and friendly! (Complete opposite of those across the street at Magoun's Saloon... ) Only downfall is the place is kind of small. Better for a date night with your significant other than for large groups. Great ambiance with dim lighting and a cool modern feel. Definitely check it out!

My new favorite place. Awesome and interesting cocktails! I had been there a few times before for drinks with friends because the cocktails are great. The food looked a little pricey at first but I ended up eating there tonight with my boyfriend and the food definitely did not disappoint. The food was amazing and worth every penny. I got the gyro and my boyfriend got the burger. . both were great! Love it!

I am very very disappointed at Daddy Jones. Being a big fan of Lil Vinnys for years I thought I would try out who replaced them. First of all the set up in that place is horrible you look like your walking into a dungeon and it is very small. There are a couple of tables and then the bar area in the far back. We walk in to support the new business and immediately get told there is no room at the bar to go across the street and try back later. HELLO!!! Who the hell says something like that on their opening day! Trust me I will never go back there again and I will tell all my friends and family don't bother going in there either. They are not accomadating to their customers what so ever. I will not support this business! BRING BACK LIL VINNYS!!!!!!!!! By the way the don't even deserve one star but I wasn't allowed to give them none!

First time trying it, but we'll be back, mainly because there's way too much of the menu that sounded good! Had a salad of roasted dandelion greens (wow), the fries (solid, but really killer if you get a side of the spicy aioli), and the Mac Daddy. All the food was excellently executed. I really appreciated the solid chunks of perfectly cooked bacon in the Mac Daddy. As I noted to my wife, I normally am unhappy with restaurant Mac and cheese, but a dish where it trails strings of cheese across the table always bodes well. Cocktails were a little hit/miss for me, but I deliberately ordered one I wasn't sure about. The one that sounded good, their drink of the day, was lovely. I'll keep an eye out for the bad repeat service that others have mentioned, but until it hits me, this will definitely be a main spot in our date night rotation.

Everything we had here was amazing. Simply the best Pita bread I've ever had. Great fresh tzatziki, sweet & gooey saganaki and light & spongy loukamades. The beer list was top notch and they had great cocktails too. Decor and atmosphere was very relaxed yet refined with cool funky touches. Overall a great place for a date or a group of friends to chill.

The following is what could be considered negative, but includes rebuttals justifying above rating: [1] I like my Greek Street food a little less pricey and street-y, but this place is less street than traditional, and the taste is worth the price. [2] It has been closed before. But this is either because [a] I didn't check the weekend hours and since I'm a flâneur and in Magoun Square walk elsewhere or [b] because of a private party but since this was a return visit, place is clearly wanted and desired. And why is it good? Well the hipness is not off-putting at all i.e. great music with either Miami Vice or Saved by the Bell on mute on the TV, what appears to be a gym locker or something or other to store the bar non-perishables, a great name written in solid, classic font, and frugal 'Thank You cards' in which your bill comes. But the point is all of this is not not overbearing: Daddy Jones is small, pliable. It becomes what the crowd is. The World Cup bar for Götze's goal, or the rider rendezvous for the end of a 5 Miler, or the post-Book-Club-bitching-and-saucing haunt. I'll say a possible [3] could be olive pits, but that is obviously for more Mediterranean Cusine-centric forum at which I would probably be yelled at.

Sleek interior and much hipper than what was here before. Our group of 4 came in on a Thursday night and were promptly seated. Unlike other restaurants, service was still great even though we ordered minimal food and a few drinks. I tried the Greek salad which was great. No lettuce in this so it's way more authentic. Just tomatoes, onions, cucumbers in a light dressing with big chunks of feta. I also got the dip plate which included skordalia (essentially garlic and potato dip) and feta red pepper dip. Both were out of this world. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu!

First thing that'll strike you: awkward space. Those responsible for working with the cumbersome, Manhattan-esque "use it or lose it" layout gave Daddy Jones a very comfortable, very Somerville end design. Kudos! Slinging a limited menu of house cocktails (many featuring infusions and heavy on bourbon) and an equally streamlined array of Greek inspired plates, you might not consider Daddy Jones as a spot for a meal. It'll pop up as "that Magoun Square bar that serves Greek food," further proven by the shoulder-to-shoulder spread on stools, while tables sat empty during peak hours. May have misstepped choosing the Dirty Dill Infused Gin ($9), as it's definitely a one-trick pony. Nothing subtle and hardly balanced, the cocktail is a glass of floral brine with a pickled green bean and olive garnish (they've struck the cornichon). The lasting sentiment: "I ordered it to order it, and now I can say I have." But never again. The fried zucchini ($6) is a comfortable start, with the humble squash getting a jet boost from the amazing skordalia, a garlicky dip of pureed potatoes, almonds and quality oil. We saved what was left for my Fish & Fries ($14) - a sizable filet of beer battered haddock, average spuds and a very nice housemade tartar sauce. Our polite and on-point server Alipio promised crunch, but the batter proved too thick and slightly undercooked, leading to the dreaded doughnut layer between filet and crust. Needless to say, it fell apart quickly. The Huxtables on one TV, March Madness on another and Miami Vice rocking a third, I'll gladly pull up a seat at a smart, feel-good addition to Magoun's off-T strip of promise. But it'll be for a Manhattan Mix Tape and a bar snack - the dinner scene just doesn't have me crying for Daddy.

I've been meaning to check out this spot for a while but am rarely in the area. Finally Saturday night I stopped by with a few friends around 11pm, the place wasn't packed but it had enough people and just the way I like it. I noticed the awesome music they were playing (old school rap) and Dougie Howser on the TV and I loved it. It reminded me of all the cool spots in SF that play 80's music while watching old school tv shows!!! I was hungry so I proceeded to order the steak tips with grilled string beans and roasted potatoes. The steak was a little over cooked even though I ordered it medium but it was still good and had a peppery taste to it. The veggies were great addition to the meal, grilled and seasoned well and the roasted potatoes were huge and cooked great. I ordered the dill gin martini and it was yummy! It was accompanied by olives, pickles and pickled onions and I love pickled veggies. I also loved the decor at the bar where the bottle are stored and glasses, super cool and different! I can't wait to come back and sit at the bar and enjoy what this little gem has to offer.

I love this place. This hands down is one of my favorite bars in Somerville. The food is amazing. One of the best things is the roasted red pepper with feta dip which comes with hot bread and the sweet potato fries with honey and feta are out of this world!! One of the best places to go!

I've been working on a review for Daddy Jones for months now. I'm having a hard time putting into words how much I love this place. Daddy Jones, let me count the ways that I love you. Or how about my top 6 to keep it short and sweet. One. You are within walking distance of my house. Two. I love a good bar with a dark lit atmosphere, and you deliver every time. I get sucked into whatever TV show you have on, and even more so to the music you play. Three. At least once a month we try to make it a point to go here with a couple of friends for dinner. Or sometimes just my girlfriend and I. We like to sit somewhere out of the way, order a bunch of food, drink a whole bunch, and generally just have a good night without feeling rushed. Yeah, we're those people that will be there until closing even if we arrived at 7. And we've never felt unwelcome for it. Four. Dimitra remembers our drink order, every single time. One of our friends is particularly picky about his drinks. He likes them so sweet they melt your teeth out but boozy without the booze taste. They are always up for the challenge and come up with cocktails that he either loves, or hates. But they keep trying and are great sports about it. Five. The food is fantastic. I usually stick to the same few things every time I'm there but I've never been disappointed. The menu changes slightly each season, and they're starting to have specials during certain nights of the week which make it even harder not to go constantly. Six. For my girlfriends birthday this past year all she wanted was to have a cocktail from Daddy Jones. I emailed Dimitra and on the sly planned a surprise birthday party for her. They were so accommodating and even let us bring a few sweet treats for her. I ordered appetizers ahead of time, and everyone was able to order a bigger meal if they chose. They took care of making sure everyone had the right checks and it was the least stressful birthday I've ever planned. I'm still so happy how this turned out I could keep going on, but I'm hoping that's enough to show my undying love of this place without seeming like I'm that creep you never invite to the party.

I've only been to the bar for drinks, but I've had a good time both times. It's not a place to come to meet people, but a good place to meet up with friends. The Taza chocolate infused whiskey was delicious. When I came during the fall, I had the pumpkin puree whiskey. Delicious and potent. The margarita is pretty big in size, but it was not as tasty as my whiskey. I also tried my friend's gin drink, and I think I will stick to whiskey and bourbon when I visit. The pita and hummus is reasonably priced and the almond based dip is a great accompaniment. The last bartender was very attentive. I'd ask my friend a question about a drink or ingredient, and the bartender would answer. It was pretty cool and hilarious. I love the look. The service is great, and the drinks are delicious.

Had a groupon/gilt/something or other for this place and had a reservation set so there was no possibility of getting stuck on a Friday night. Had never been here before. Upon entering, it's a small place, but they weren't too too busy, so it was solid. The table seating in one part is on par with what you'd find at a Cheesecake factory, where your table is super close to someone else. I'm sure if you dislike that you can request different seating upon a reservation. For starters, we ordered drinks. 2 beers that were on tap (sorry don't remember names) but they came quickly and we enjoyed them. We then put in for the cheese plate and a smoked herring side. Again, both came fairly quickly and were definitely something different, but I enjoyed them both. We each put in for the steak frites dinner.Lot of fries covered in feta, an arugula salad, and 2 decent sized tips. Still filling and the steak tips were not fatty at all, and were delicious. Salad was a somewhat bitter, however, I didn't mind that. Plenty of fries (I couldn't finish them all) We then got a dessert that was complimentary with the coupon and it was solid as well. Some sort of pastry you could dip into a small bowl of marshmallow (I'm thinking it was fluff). Waiter was great, fun and talkative. The server/busboy was awkward and silent, but I don't care about that stuff. I don't know if I'd pay the prices I saw for the food considering the place has a heavier emphasis on solid drinks (mostly gin). The food IS good, but for the prices I'd probably stick to somewhere else. With a groupon/etc, it's definitely worth it to try. If you love it, keep going. If not....well then you at least tried.

This place was pretty awesome. They were still putting their gears together when the Biff and I visited, but honestly, a unique and genuinely good place to hit up in Magoun Square and Somerville in general. The serve elevated Greek tavern cuisine that was sincerely delicious. We split a lamb kabob and pita platter. The tzatziki was to die for and their feta'd red bell pepper mix was not far behind. The bartender over alch'd the mixed drinks. Over alch'd should be a term if it already isn't. However, it was a fair effort and I could tell the drinks would have been tasty and inventive if her hand hadn't slipped. We've been telling everyone we know in the area about this place. Spread the word. PS: I need me a Cosby sweater, because booopboop puddinpops...

A classy establishment in the most unclassy of places. A real deal gin bar with the hip hop beats you've been longing for and decor that makes you feel like you're in the middle of Brooklyn. Food is equally reputable.

Go for the cocktails; Stay for the souvlaki! Though their emphasis is clearly on original cocktails and beer, this new spot's Mediterranean-tinged food options do not disappoint. The key is in the spices.. And not over- or under-doing it with them. The skordalia dip is a garlic-lover's dream! We had it with the fried zucchini app, and the blend of garlic and spices in the zucchini and dip were very well-balanced. Though the zucchini was a little greasy. Also, the tzatziki was terrific, too. We tried the steak frites, which was well prepared, and the feta fries were a flavorful twist on the classic. And also the chicken souvlaki wrap, which was tasty, but odd to have fries actually folded into it. Sometimes twists on classic dishes are better in theory. All the same, the flavors are key here, and we were delightfully surprised at the quality and flavor of the meal. The cocktails were really enjoyable too, though they could use a few more wine options (they only offer one of each color grape on their menu). They don't need to hire a sommelier, but they should know that not everyone is up for beer or cocktails when they go out. All in all, I'd recommend this place for a little change of pace in the area. Also, the music was refreshing.. Not too loud, and just alternative enough. Florence & The Machine meets Death Cab For Cutie. Some thought went into it, but they weren't trying too hard to impress. Nicely done, Daddy J!

Cute little place. I enjoyed the meze platter with beer. I have not seen anything in Boston like it. Real cozy and enjoyable. If you are in the area, you have to stop by. The chicken dinner entree was really tasty. The chicken was marinaded to perfection and may have been the best chicken I have ever had in my life. Also paired with a great Greek wine that was one of the best white wines I have ever tried. Cant remember the name, but will definitely be back soon.

Have been here twice. Once for brunch and once for cocktails. Brunch is definately most under rated in the area. Cozy quaint spot that was crowded but not so much that the server couldnt keep up. Friendly and attentive! The cocktails come in funky cool glassware and are on point. Check it out!

Daddy Jones is a great place to have some dinner and cocktails. The restaurant is run by Dimitra. I'm being specific for a reason; The place has character and focus. Everything in the restaurant has it's place: fancy antique cocktail glasses, wood place-mats, 'Thank You' cards enclose your check, the dishware is interesting and rotates often. The ice cubes are huge and clear. Attention is paid to detail. It's focused in it's execution. The drink list and food menu are 'small' in that regard. If you need a huge menu to choose from, this likely isn't your spot. This place is about a small menu, done well. However, the bar is well stocked and possesses bottles of things you won't likely find elsewhere. If you like cocktails and absinthe, you should check it out... The bar staff is worthy of a following. Simone, Courtney, and Stephanie are all great in their ability to work the bar. Patient with the indecisive and always willing to make you something special or sample what's on draft. They recently started doing brunch as well and frankly I'd rather not discuss it. It's great, and never crowded. I have no idea why you would wait outside Sound Bites down the street. Usual order: Chicken Souvlaki extra Tzatziki , or Greek Salad - I'm not normally a salad person. Dessert: St. George Absinthe

I've been here exactly twice, both times to grab a drink - sadly, never to eat - but I can attest that the wine selection is good (and not crazy expensive), and the beers aren't shabby either. Vibe is enjoyably cozy - hipstery-ish, I guess - it has the requisite amnt of exposed brick and bartenders w/ tats - on the weekends it gets loud enough that you have to speak quite loudly to be heard - but on the weekdays it's a dream. Haven't had a problem getting a table either time - though it's tiny, so I'm sure that it can get cray if the time is right. I'd take a friend/date/lover/rando you met on the T here - probably not my grandmother.

Felt like I was just robbed. Ordered steak pita after first choice was nixed cause they were out. Said didn't want fries no prob comes with greens. More fries on the minuscule sandwich than few pieces of gristle-y steak. $14 for a tiny 5--inch sandwich with a couple leaves of greens on the side. Won't be back. Friendly staff tho.

I've been here for cocktails a few times, and on that account I would have given it probably a 4, or a 3.5. Cocktails are pretty good, the beer selection is pretty firmly in the eh category. The two stars for this is due to the food I had last night. Firmly 1 to 1.5 stars. SALT. Oh my god, salt salt and more salt. The burger was so very salty; really, enough that even with cheese and condiments, the salt cut right through it. Then oh, well, with that being so salty the fries are probably fine, maybe? Nope. MOUTH BURNING SALT. They hurt to eat. Sigh, I should have just gotten a burger at the mediocre/passable place across the street, and that pains me to say.

I love Daddy Jones. They have great cocktails and brunch. The cocktails are pricey ($10) but are high quality and certainly worth it. The brunch menu has standard brunch fare and some savory Greek options. I've been there twice for brunch and never had to wait for a table. The brunch menu is reasonably priced at about $8 a plate. The food took a while to come out both times, but the service was great. Honestly I didn't mind waiting since I was enjoying fresh squeezed orange juice, good company, and the comfortable yet classy atmosphere. Daddy Jones seems like a nice family run business serving high quality food and drinks. I highly recommend this place!

Really disappointed with this place. To start with our server took his time coming over and seemed to have a chip on his shoulder right off the bat. Really weird. Then we had to endure listening to a loud bartender express her opinions to the entire nearly empty place (she thinks it was OK for Adrian Peterson to hit his kids in case you were wondering). The drinks were OK, but nothing special. The food however was not good. Tasted like it had been frozen, just really bland and boring, bordering on being bad. I might come back for drinks but realistically probably not.

This was my first time here and what a great time. Fun atmosphere. Friendliest service around. Awesome burger and chicken souvlaki. Tzatziki so good I kept dipping my fries in it. This was a Sunday so I imagine the rest of the week would really be hopping.

I think the one real thing that sets this place apart is the bartenders... such a nice and welcoming group of people. Cocktails are great and the only time I ate there I had the lamb skewers, nothing crazy, just a good dish really well done, I enjoyed every bite.

Wow. I'm not kidding--I think that DJ might be my new neighborhood hangout over Highland Kitchen. I KNOW. First of all, DJ is a little out of the way unless you live on the Somerville/Medford line. Don't expect easy parking...but you can take the bus up Broadway if you're coming from the Powder House Circle area. 1) I love the vibe at DJ. They have nice little tables in front of the bar area, and then some hightop tables farther back. The decor is awesome and, GUYS: they were playing episodes of Doogie Howser off Hulu! 2) The drinks we all had were super good. They do a special whiskey infusion for their Manhattans, which gets switched up regularly. I had their Manhattan Mixed Tape (well, two of them) and an Old Fashioned. Both superb. My date enjoyed the beer selection and got a few beers along with the dill-infused gin drink. STRONG. Excellent if you like dill pickles. 3) The waitress/bartender was the bomb.com . She was super friendly and accommodating. (I had friends that showed up after I'd eaten dinner, and she let us move to a larger highboy at the back of the restaurant.) 4) Food? Delish! My date got the classic fish and chips. I got the chicken wrap. I really can't wait to go back and stumble the mile home again soon!

So I have this Greek friend. And she likes to eat. So to Daddy Jones we went. It's an interesting little place in Magoun Square in Somerville, recently opened and sort of chic. Pretty cool little place. We had drinks (DJ amber ale by Opa Opa - I quite enjoyed it), appetizers (pita and dip - typical), food (stuffed eggplant - super tasty and chicken souvlaki wrap - also really good) and finished with dessert (pumpkin flan - incredible). And to top it off, the music was good and our waitress was quite a looker. I highly recommend this place, hard to go wrong

After much anticipation, a lot of hype, and what seemed like a very long delay, Daddy Jones has finally opened its doors to the public a few weeks ago in what previously was Little Vinny's, a family-owned and operated Italian joint. They had a long period of soft opening where Medford-native Maria Menounos named it one of her choice hangouts - something that apparently was supposed to set high expectations for everyone. Upon walking in, one thing that people will notice is how different this place is. It's a very unique space and a very unique bar. The decor is minimal and yet it looks like it was carefully picked to create an inviting setting - There's two televions near the front, which are slightly dimmed and play sports while the lonely TV in the back is playing the Cosby Show. Apparently that show still had a following - I had no idea. Overall the simplicity of it makes it awesome. There's a few quirky touches to it as well, like a few metallic lockers behind the bar that serve as shelves for the various glassware they use and there's also a coocoo clock against the wall. It's not all that spacious in there and yet it never feels cramped, even on its busiest of times. I've been able to snag a spot at the bar and also in the back, on a high top and I can say that my experience at the bar was much more enjoyable and featured much better service. The concept of the bar is quite original and far from generic as they've strived to re-create some of the classic cocktails like the Grey Hound and the Blue Hawaiian, but often times have been able to do so with a unique twist. Their cocktail list features eight distinctive cocktails and they also are able to create others based on taste and what's in demand. I've had their Grey Hound and found it to be quite tasty and the fiancee enjoyed her drinks as well. One my latest trip there, I had a dirty vodka martini which wasn't nearly as good... however... one thing that they seem to excel at is bar bites. It's a Greek-themed food menu (the owner is Greek) and they have things like stuffed phylo, roasted baby eggplant, olives and even lamb skewers. I've been able to get two items from their finger food section, the fries ($4) and the fried zucchini ($5) and both were actually really tasty, especially the latter which blew us away. The value was terrific and the flavors were great as well. I'm sure that the rest of the menu, while a bit limited, is great as well. They also have a minimal but pretty good beer list (although not nearly as good as Old Magoun's Saloon across the street) but then again, they are more of a cocktail bar than a beer bar so.... Service the first time was very friendly and knowledgable but the second time around our waiter wasn't very attentive, slow and not all that friendly. Guess they're still working the kinks out... All in all, I was pretty impressed and look forward to returning for a real meal there and for some more drinks. While I'll always be a bit sad at the fact that Little Vinny's is gone, I couldn't think of a better establishment to replace it with. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

(5)Simon L.

Very trendy cute place. They have Star Wars memorabilia throughout the bar. The music selection was eclectic and awesome!! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the spanakopita for an app and it was delicious! We ordered the lamb pita, the chicken kebabs, the mac daddy Mac and cheese and the cheese burger. Everyone loved their main dish. We tried several cocktails and enjoyed them all. For dessert we got loukoumades and baklava. The loukoumades was a lot like the dough of a chicken finger with honey and cinnamon on it- most of the table loved it. I loved their baklava, there were a lot of honey and nuts- super tasty!! I also got the Nescafé frappe and LOVED it!!! My new favorite neighborhood hang out!!! We will be back!!!!!

Get them. Get them.
(5)Kelly G.

Burger is awesome! Love sitting at the bar watching The Cosby Show and having excellent drinks.

(4)Elizabeth K.
(5)Jane D.
(5)Steve F.
(4)Meridith H.
(4)Chris D.
(3)J B.
Good local hang. Miss Simone - one of the area's best bartenders IMO! Fried zucchini is amazing...

Win-win.

Hidden gem of a brunch place. Doesn't have the crazy lines like the other brunch places nearby- YET. Get eggs and breakfast food in peace.

Everything was absolutely excellent. Friendly staff, great mixed drinks and tasty Greek dishes. Great vibe, laid back yet attentive service and wide range of beers. I'll definitely be back. Lee K

(5)Keri M.
(5)stephanie b.
(4)Scott W.

(4)Jennifer L.
(4)Kathleen M.
Love it!
(5)M T.
Recently went there just to pick up some food to-go and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. Great addition to the neighborhood. Am looking forward to going back for drinks and a full meal.

(1)Alik W.
(5)Bridget K.
Such a great vibe in this place and amazing food! I got the ribs special and they were perfectly seasoned. Really good beers on tap. The staff were super friendly too, we loved our waitress Rachel :)
(5)Restaurant M.
Excellent gourmet food and high end cocktails. Well run.
(4)David L.
(5)Luke S.
(5)Joanna F.
(4)Damien S.

(4)Meredith S.

Came here for a final final. Had a whiskey sour after dinner across the street. Bartender knew her stuff. Good music. They have large ice cubes and serve cocktails and dreams
(4)Monique S.

Excellent service. Inventive drinks. Decent mac and cheese. Baklava, that is the real deal. A bit pricey, but good. Welcome to the neighborhood, Mr. Jones. PS Thank you for playing the Cosby Show!!!
