Thanks again for a wonderful stay. See you soon! --- update --- I noticed my original review ended up as a tip on the iphone app, but not a review. Weird. Any way here it is pasted below! "I can't say enough about this place. Bill and El are some of the warmest, honest and inviting keepers we've met. its actually kind of silly to call them "inn keepers" because at this point I can honestly call them friends. We have come back so many times - and each time it gets better and better."

My fiancé and I stayed at Historic Jacob Hill Inn (JH) for our anniversary this past weekend. This was our first B&B, and with that being said, Bill and Eleanora set the bar very high. Staying at The Historic Jacob Hill Inn was a superior experience, more than we could have ever expected. My fiancé and I were as impressed with the beautiful amenities as with the warm hospitality, which started the moment we arrived and Bill and Eleanora met us with smiles in the gravel drive. As we checked in, they offered us a glass of with chilled white wine to sip while we walked through the grounds that they painstakingly restored to the original glory of the Vanderbilt period. Bill and Eleanora have an impeccable attention to detail, both in service and style. For example, Bill pointed out that our suite incorporated glass door knobs from original period of the estate. Another example of their attention to detail in regards to service can be seen in the more subtle gestures: the basket of folded pool towels near the entry way, the warm cookies in the kitchen, the refrigerator stocked with beverages, and the umbrellas hung by the door in case of rain. You can read the other glowing reviews, but the only way to experience this kindness and comfort is to stay at Jacob Hill Inn, which we recommend with our highest regards. Thank you, again, to Bill and Eleanora. To future guests, we know you will enjoy your visit as it will be better than anything you could have hoped for in service, style, and location.

We had the most romantic getaway weekend in the Newport Suite at the Historic Jacob Hill Inn B&B in Seekonk, Ma....just a few minutes from Providence. Our stunning room was decked out with a wood burning fireplace, an elegant King canopy bed and of course, a 2 person jacuzzi to make the room complete. What really makes this the best B&B we have ever stayed at besides the stellar accommodations (and my hubby and I frequent B&B's quite often) are the warm and gracious owners, Eleonora and Bill. From the moment you arrive, Bill greets you at your car and brings in your bags as well as shares wildly entertaining stories over El's delicious breakfasts each morning. We were also impressed with all the small but meaningful details like the complimentary cheese plate, Eleonora getting us an 8pm reservation at a fully booked popular restaurant in town and providing us detailed info and maps for our day trip to Boston. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend!!

Basically, if you want the most comfortable, peaceful surroundings and the best service ever, stay here... My husband and I took a babymoon and wanted to focus our time in Newport, but the prices for places there were astronomical. My husband did some research and found that this inn was supposed to be fantastic. Our room was awesome... We had a porch, great view of the property, huge tub in our room, and overall the perfect lodging for our quality time getaway. The owners, Bill and Eleonora, live on the grounds - you really feel like you are staying at a relative's home. The breakfasts were wonderful - homemade pretty much everything (they make their own granola with special honey they get special for it). Every detail... They set out what you will have for breakfast the next day each evening. When you get there, there was a cheese plate waiting for us... Seriously the BEST lodging experience of my life... Thank you for making that weekend so memorable and relaxing...

Flying from the west coast to east coast, I arrived later around 8:30 pm and was greeted warmly by the owners Bill and Eleonora. We were given a tour and a glass of wine. The room was clean and property is beautiful. I had emailed about breakfast on the last day as our flight left early, and they were very accommodating on a to-go breakfast ready for our 5 am departure. I have stayed in B&B around the USA, and this is one of the best. I read other reviews and can't fathom this describing the owners we met. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here!! We chose this as we didn't want to stay in Boston and nicer than other places in the Providence. The property has a history which Bill will be happy to tell you about and give you a tour. 4 course breakfast and 24/7 access to a fridge filled with sodas, water and a cheese plate. I will be back next time I am in New England.

On a dark, wintry evening, having just turned off Jacob Street into the driveway of this eponymous B&B, my wife and I were greeted by Bill, the inn's proprietor who sprang from the office to ensure that we parked no farther away than necessary from our lodgings. Bill and his wife, Eleonora, were at our car before we cut the engine to help with our bags. They offered us a glass of wine, presented us with a cheese plate and showed us to our room. Bill gave us a tour of the facility and shared a bit of the inn's history. Owing to our early departure the next day, Eleonora and Bill packed our breakfast of yogurt and muffins and put the sacks in the icebox prior to retiring. Our room was snug and cozy. King-size bed, tastefully furnished, and complete with cookies and bottled water. Coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks and more bottled water were freely available just outside our room. Our stay was perfect in every regard. When we again find ourselves in the environs of Providence, we'll book another room at Jacob Hill Inn. As for some of the negative reviews, permit me to quote from Henry James, the great American novelist, who gave this advice: "There are three things that are important in human life. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind." B&Bs are not hotels. Not atypically, the B&B owner is your bellhop, desk clerk, concierge, chef, waiter, busboy, maintenance staff, and maid. Guests and would-be guests need to cut them a little slack.

In her response below, the Inn's owner continues to be condescending and insulting toward me, and takes no ownership of her aggressive and nasty behavior. Not incidentally, several people who have had bad experiences with this person have written to me through Yelp to thank me for posting this review. Prospective guests who are willing to read all of this have been forewarned. * I made a reservation on May for a two night stay in early July, but called the Inn to let them know that I would not able to come to Providence as anticipated. I had never received an initial confirmation email of my reservation but had been billed for the stay, and when I called to speak to someone about this and the fact that I could not come during the time I had paid for, the woman was extremely dismissive, and seemed annoyed to have to take my call, and then casually said that there would be a cancellation fee, but that I should send an email with my information so they could send a refund. When I asked her to explain about the fee, the woman would not give me details, refused to give me her name, and then said, "I have more important things to take care of right now." And then line was dead. I found out later that this was one of the proprietors of the Inn, Eleonora Rezek. When this happened, I called back, and the phone went to voicemail. I tried calling again several times and finally left a message explaining that whomever it was I had spoken with had hung up on me, and I asked that my call to be returned. Instead, I received an email eight hours later, and was told that no one had hung up on me, that the phone just went dead at that particular moment. It was a bad start and things only got worse. In the follow up email exchanges in which I requested my refund, instead of an apology for being rude, I was told that her phone battery went dead, and that she handled the matter as quickly as possible, and--most importantly--she also accused me of lying about what I heard her say! Needless to say, I am upset about the response I had from the owner, especially as I was simply trying to sort out a refund, which I received after several unpleasant emails. Though I was not able to come on this particular trip, I was looking forward to staying with them on another occasion. I'm sure I'd be more kindly treated at the Providence bus station than at this so-called Inn. Update (7/26/12): Eleonora, the owner, saw my Yelp review and was displeased with how her behavior toward me came across in what I wrote. She emailed me and asked me to remove my review. I stand by what I wrote here, so I didn't respond to her request. She then called me a number of times, and then proceeded to call and emailed the friend who made the mistake of recommending the place to me! When she finally reached me, from a blocked number, I said that I could not talk, but she pressed on. I politely but firmly told her I could not speak to her and said goodbye. I then sent her an email asking her not to contact me again and to leave my friend alone. Her response to my email was "OK what goes around comes around." She then had the nerve to write me *again* and say that she would involve my friend simply because she had recommended the Inn to me, and then proceeded to bother my friend. Ridiculous! !!!!!!!!!! I had written her and no uncertain terms that she should not to call me or to email me again. This was the THIRD time I had to do this. I will let her rude behavior speak for itself. I am glad that Yelp provides a forum for people who have been mistreated by business owners, and provides the owners with an opportunity for reflection and to improve their behavior toward customers and potential customers. After all this unnecessary harassment and drama, I should point out that the only mistake I made was booking a night at this inn.

I was searching around for a place to stay with my girlfriend on our 1 year anniversary which was also the day that I proposed to her when I stumbled upon the Historic Jacob Hill Inn on the internet. I was very curious/intrigued by the photos online so I decided to drop in and check the place out to see if it was the right place for us. There had just been a small snow storm and when I pulled up Bill was outside shoveling not expecting any guests. I told him that I dropped by to view the property, however I saw that he was busy and I told him that I would come back later if it wasn't a good time for him to show me around the property. Bill stopped what he was doing to show me what he could offer me and I knew once walking into the Newport Suite that this was going to be the place for me. On the day of our anniversary/engagement I stopped by early and told Eleonora what my plan was and she assured me that she would help me out in executing the plan. When we arrived she had the room set up the normal way and when we left and came back from dinner she did a wonderful job of setting the room up in a very romantic way. At the end of the stay me and my now fiancé really enjoyed our everything, we ate a pretty good breakfast, and they sent us on our way. With my career I stay in hotels all around the world and even I have never had an experience like this. Bill and Eleonora were great and I will recommend that if you're considering this place then give it a try!

Not sure I agree with some of the reviewers have been saying about Jacob Hill but I've had an amazing experience here every time I visit. They go out of their way to make it feel like home, just how a great B&B should. This isn't a hotel-they are personable, warm, and caring and provide all the amenities necessary to have an amazing stay.

We are so pleased with our 3 night stay at the Historic Jacob Hill Inn! I have worked in the hotel industry for many years and have stayed in some of the finest properties in the world. My husband and I prefer B and B's due to the more intimate environment. The Jacob Hill Inn is the perfect blend of intimacy and luxury. We have a daughter at Brown Ubiversity and we found the location perfect for our frequent visits to the University. It takes under 10 minutes to travel back and forth and the route is an effortless breeze on side streets. Free parking of course, outstanding breakfasts made cooked to order and Bill and Leonora are two of the kindest most welcoming people in the industry who take great pride in their B and B. The rooms are delightful with lovely antiques and all of the most modern amenities. Most important the facility is spotless! We can't recommend this place enough and our only concern is that too many others will find out about it and there won't be a room for us the next time we want to come back!

My Fiance and I stayed here for New Years Eve and loved this place! The Inn is a beautifully restored hunt club that has been tastefully decorated. The rooms were so cozy and romantic. We had a real wood burning fire place in the room and a jacuzzi tub! The owners Eleanor and Bill were so warm and friendly and catered to our every need. They cooked up a home made delicious breakfast every morning and even made a special meal for me (I have a gluten allergy). The Inn is beautifully restored and each room had its own distinct history. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast for a romantic get away.

My wife and I stayed here recently and really enjoyed it. The grounds surrounding the Inn are beautiful. The owners are very hospitable and gave us excellent advice about where to go and what to do. The room was very clean, wonderfully decorated, and neat, complete with chocolates and a daily refresh of cookies in the jar by the bed. The jacuzzi bath was also very nice (used it both nights). Free WiFi. They really pay a lot of attention to every detail in the room and in the rest of the Inn. For example, it was raining the night we arrived and they had umbrellas hanging by the door. They also had a bottle of champagne for us when we arrived. There are many small touches like this. If I'm being absolutely honest, my only criticism would be breakfast. On a whole I would give breakfast a 6.5 out of 10. However, the place settings and atmosphere of breakfast makes up for what's lacking. I definitely recommend staying here!
