Attended the "Giggles" end of the business for a baby shower. There was ample room for everyone to sit and the convenient stage for the mother to be. The tables were arranged well and there was more than enough seating - if you're looking to host an event here. The food was great! They had set up a full pizza, pasta, salad and extras buffet. The pizzas where perfectly cooked with a crisp crust. The toppings were fresh and evenly added to all slices. I loved the crispy chicken fingers and they were even better when is asked specifically for some ranch to dip! The waitress was very attentive, constantly made sure everyone had what they needed or wanted throughout the entire affair. The place settings had nice glasses and clean utensils. And if there were unused settings she made sure to clear them away to have room for those who were at that table. Quick to remove dirty dishes and unwanted leftovers. All in all, a very well put together venue with tasty food across the board.

I've been coming here as a kid with my family! The service in the restaurant is always delightful. But then we catered from them this past weekend. The owner wrote the wrong date down for my order. when we showed up to pick up the food the cook was confused. So we ended up having to wait for a hour until they could finish the order. On the upside they gave me 2 boxes of their To-Go pizza's on the house. Everyone at the event did enjoy the food as well. We'll always be back.

Classic, go-to pizza on the North Shore. Great lunch buffet.

Their pizzas are good and any indian will say that but i dont really like it since their dough feels very light and crumbly. I have been there multiple times and my parents love that place so we often head to the place for pizza.I usually order Apps and pasta dish to satisfy my dinner requirement. Their rices have sky rocketed in past 3 years or so because of the popularity I mean their italian food or their apps are pretty decent but nothing extraordinary, it get the work done so i am not sure if i can say they are worth the value or not. they also have frozen pizza to take home if you do not wish to eat there. They tend to be same tasting and can be just like the ones eating at restaurant which mean they pizza base is ready and not hand tossed. overall it is good place and also has comedy club if anyone is interested in it. But for me i am not fan of pizza specially at that price where a veggie pizza cost 17.95

Very good pizza and at a good price. I ate there a couple years ago with family and had a very good pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese. Well worth eating there.

Food is terrible, the pizza sauce is watery and bland. The lasagna was cold and the pizza looked like it was store bought and microwaved.

We went for the comedy night (Giggles) which was really funny. We all enjoyed the comedians and the show. The food was okay, nothing great. But a good snack while having a few drinks and watching the show. The staff at this place should really all take a class on how to treat people. So rude and for no reason. First run in was with a middle aged bartender that looked perpetually aggravated. Dude, the bar was not that packed, relax, you can smile a little. There was about 8 of us, all ordered drinks and line up against the wall to put our drinks and bags down. As everyone's opening wallets and getting ready to pay, the bartender leans over the bar "HEY WHO GOT DRINKS, COME ON!" waving us over. Everyone shocked, we just kind of looked at him like uhhh yeah, that's what we're doing. He again yells "COME ON GUYS, WHO GOT DRINKS BACK THERE LET'S GET THIS DONE, SQUARE UP". Are you kidding me? Did you think we were going to run or something? Not only completely unprofessional but seriously hair across his... so anyway. We go into the comedy show, it was funny. But here comes the next disappointing part, my friend ordered an Absolute and cranberry. She took a sip and made a face, passed it around to 2 friends, all made the same face. You get the picture, it was gross. My friend said to the server, "I don't know what it is, but its not Absolute and I'm good, I'll just get water." Much nicer than that sounds, but no big deal really. She wasn't upset, didn't make it a big deal. Then it starts, the server insists it's Absolute. Then the bartender comes over (during the comedy show?!!?) and starts questioning why she didn't like the drink. Bartender insists over and over it's Absolute. The bill comes, Absolute is still on there. Friend tells the server: It wasn't Absolute and I sent it back still full. Here comes the Manager: What was wrong with the drink? It WAS Absolute Friend: It was not what I ordered, it tasted funny, it wasn't Absolute. Manager: Continues to insist it IS Absolute but eventually takes it off the bill. The whole thing was ridiculous. We're not "those" people in a restaurant ever, the drink was bad. Why was that so hard to accept? Did you think we wanted 3 free sips of not Absolute and cranberry? It should have never been that drawn out. There's better places to go.

This place is as much a Route One icon as Kowloon's and the Hilltop (RIP). It can suit your needs, depending on what those needs are. If you have a large group, or a kid's party, or if you enjoy noise, chaos and okay food, this is your nirvana. If, however, you're searching for a more relaxing atmosphere, get your food to go and enjoy it at home. The pizza itself is either hated or loved. It's not a true Italian thin crust, but almost a pastry crust: light and flaky. The sauce is on the sweet side and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. Again, you either love it or hate it. They offer all of the Italian menu staples and there's nothing spectacular about any of them the salads, especially the caprese and antipasto, are disappointing. Their prices have been creeping up making this less and less of a go to place. However, their meat lasagna is outstanding! Thick, dense, full of meat! It is the best lasagna on Route One. And they serve Bianco sausages: sweet, juicy, full of flavor. It's a good place for a group to go for a night out, but I can't see it as a regular dining option due to the prices and quality of the food.

Have been coming here 30+ years with my family. The environment was super family friendly everyone was welcoming, the staff always talked to us. The food was awesome, when in doubt go to prince. However, over time the food has become disappointing, poorly made. The staff there is so rude, specially the one healthy lady who takes orders, her attitude can turn away any customer. Maybe she was having a bad day, and releasing her anger onto customers, but cant say for sure because we've encountered her snarky attitude on multiple occasions. After ordering my food and having to listen to her extremely rude comments and attitude, I'm sure none of us were in a mood to even eat there anymore. The best part, she lady started serving us and when it came time to pay the bill she became extremely nice. In the end, the service and quality of food here is just decreasing over time.

This is one of our favorite places to go for pizza as a big group. They have a ton of space and it seems like there's always more room that they can open if it's getting crowded. Everyone seems to come with their family and have a good time yelling over the table next to them which gives us the perfect excuse to talk at our normal volume for once. In terms of food, they have a decent selection of pizza and topping. The crust tends to be a little bit crisp, but not what you might think of as "thin crust" which is exactly how I like it. We got a veggie pizza without mushrooms and were mostly pleased, although the tomatoes probably took away from the overall flavor a bit. Also got a jalapeño and pineapple pizza that regularly tastes great. We've ordered a bunch of different ones in the past and had many events and gatherings here and the food always tends to be good. Service is usually good as well, though sometimes you might have the occasional waiter who's a bit of a flake. No issues at all with who we had most recently though. All in all, a fun place to go with a group to have grab some pizza and beer

Haven't eaten here in many years. The pizza is still good and the meatballs were excellent. I mostly ate the salad bar. They should have bigger plates for the salad bar and the blue cheese dressing was watery. Other than that Prince is still a good choice!

Those of you who get queasy when it comes to the subject of divorce may want to brace yourself ---- after a 10 year relationship, the Prince & I have split. Last night, I phoned in an order and went to pick it up. After paying and waiting a good half an hour, I noticed a look on one counter server's face that managed to combine panic with apathy. I approached the counter and after being ignored for many minutes, I was finally able to ask a question I already knew the answer to.... was my order lost? I was told yes it was. Five more minutes went by and I asked the manager for my money back. Without even asking me for the details he gave me my refund. To write any more would just be too painful. For those of you concerned about where I ate, you can cross that off your worry list... I went to Five Guys.

Eh. I came here for the buffet with a couple of friends. We paid less than $5 to eat unlimited pizza AND we were given a box. Needless to say we stuffed that thing with so much pizza to bring home and the staff didn't give us any problems. We basically got lunch and dinner for under $5. :) As for the pizza itself, it's okay. It's gone downhill since all of the sports banquets I used to attend here when I was a kid. I wouldn't spend any more than $8 to eat here.

I would consider myself a pizza enthusiast. I eat it atleast 5 times a week and i can confidently say Prince makes the best pizza I have ever tasted. I have to drive over an hour to get here and its always worth it. Service is great too. The only downside is its packed at dinner time because its such a great place. But go between 4 and 5pm and theres never a line.

Ok so the pasta sauce on their pasta buffet literally tastes like a can of diced tomatoes warmed up. The pizza is pretty awful the consistency of the crust is just bizarre. Thank goodness it's only $7 per person

this is a review about the take out ... I recently moved to Malden right on the Saugus line ... I have been to a few really good italian places since moving but those places are closed on Sundays so I decided to give Prince a try ... Worst $40 bucks I have ever spent on food literally. I ordered the Chicken Marsala ... Granted getting Marsala take out compared to eating at the restuarant does make a difference so i always give places the benefit of the doubt, but this Marsala was disgusting. The key to cooking a good Marsala is cooking it long enough that you burn the alcohol off .. by the taste of this marsala they must have cooked it for like 10 seconds ... It was literally not edible. I dipped the penne in the sauce at the bottom of the dish and almost threw up it was so strong ... terrible. The chicken was mushy as well. I also got the toasted Rav ... Rubbery and just bland ... overall this place stinks and will never return

You have to be in the mood for their uber-buttery, fluffy crust when you go here. It also seems to be a pretty popular place for little kids. I wasn't hugely impressed, but it's better than Pizza Hut :)

First off, I love pizza. I would eat it daily if I could but unfortunately I'd be huge if that were the case. After ordering out from about 10 different places on the north shore and never finding a good pizza place, I complained to a friend who grew up in Saugus. He asked why I hadn't gone to Prince Pizza because it was the best place around. I asked his girlfriend about it and she agreed with his review. I mean no offense when I say this but apparently people in Saugus don't know good pizza. I ended up going here with my girlfriend and it's a buffet type of restaurant. At first I thought that was awesome, I could eat a ton of pizza for very little money. Unfortunately the pizza was just awful. I don't even know how to explain it. It may have been the worst pizza I've had on the north shore and that says a lot when I include the pizza hut near Wonderland that mysteriously forgot to put sauce on my pizza. Will not be going back.

We came here on vacation for the lunch buffet on a weekday. It offered a few different toppings of pizzas, including a number of vegetarian/ pork free options. It really reminded me of the local family pizza joints I grew up with which was nice. The owner was friendly and immediately chatted with us about Italy as soon as we walked in the door. The price is right $6 for an all you can eat buffet. Unfortunately, the pizza is pretty below average at best, it tastes like an above average frozen pizza, but I don't expect a lot for a lunch buffet. Overall a decent stop off for a lunch with a good price and congenial owner.

Had a football banquet here on 2 different nights this week. Great service and the kids love the all you can eat and drink followed by ice cream. Large enough area to accommodate large parties and families etc. would definitely use again for banquet affairs as well as personal visits for pizza...

I too, think food has gone way downhill. I like their pizza and I buy their meatballs to take home. I'd never tried an entree until last night and what a mistake. I got the Chicken & Veal Parm plate. When it came out, the cutlets were identical in size and clearly frozen. I couldn't tell them apart until I tasted them. They looked, and tasted, exactly like the Encore frozen chicken parm. The eggplant was tasteless. I ate it all because I hadn't eat all day. That isn't a reflection of it being good, a reflection of both hunger and it getting late at night, so I had to do something. The dish was $14.95. For that price, I expected real chicken. You can go down the road to a few difference places, pay a couple of bucks more, and get real chicken and egglant, cooked fresh to order. And yes, the order system is weird. Constant calling out of names. I wasn't told salad came with my meal. I was told that "bread was over on the table." I went over to check and it was empty. They had two large parties of 10+ people so no doubt that's why there was no bread. I would have had salad if anyone had told me it was included, but the salad bar was depleted as well. Prices have gone up quite a bit here. Pizza buffet is served during the week but I don't care for the pizza they serve. It's a shame too; this is one of the last few Rt. 1 institutions left.

wow, this place has some really bad reviews, but we had a pretty good experience. mind you, this isn't gourmet pizza, but we went for sunday dinner buffet for 8.99, and you can't beat that price. they also have giant meatballs, pasta and garlic bread. i really liked the meatballs, and the pizza was fine. it wasn't great, but wasn't horrible. the staff was nice enough, and i liked the really old school decor. plus, they have a replica leaning tower of pisa outside!

I was STUNNED to find out their pizza is made in a pan...GREEK style....the worst style of pizza. It was so greasy! My sister and I tried it because we were looking to have a birthday party there for her daughter. Their Caesar dressing was very good, but the croutons tasted like they were from a bag and not homemade. Go some place else and just pay more.

Generic basic food. The set up is weird. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Drinks, apps entrees and pizzas come out individually as they are ready. This means each time an item is ready, they call your name over the PA system and you raise you hand to get the servers attention. For our party of two, my name was called out four annoying times. This also means you and the people in your party may not be eating at the same time. I was also confused about drinks. I got my first beer served to me after ordering it initially at the front counter but if I wanted a second I think I was supposed to go to the counter in the back corner? It was so unclear that I didn't even bother. I wasn't sure where to go for a glass of water either. A couple people described the sauce in their reviews as tasting like it was from a can. It isn't (or probably isn't?) but I understand what they mean. The sauce lacks any real character or uniqueness. It's not gross or offensive in any way, it's just sort of generic. The toasted rav's were fine. The veal parm was ok. It's a real veal cutlet not that reformed crap. The meatballs are good. The salad bar is literally five things - iceberg, grape tomatoes and like pasta salad and three bean salad that really did look like it was from a can. There was something else as well but I forget what it was. The noise level is high. The floor is hard tiles like a hospital and with all the screaming children and the loud PA system... you get the idea. The price was high for what you got. The veal parm at $15 is reasonable but I can match that at a restaurant that's pleasant to dine in and has actual table service. I was going to go with only two stars but bumped it up because the veal and meatballs were decent and all the kids working there seemed to be busting their asses.

Price Pizzeria is famous and every kid on the North Shore has memories of Prince. It seems like my family has been there for every occasion good and bad, Bowling banquet , First communion, after we buried nana, 5th grade field trip and Wedding rehearsal dinner and now Company holiday party. You get the point this place is like our second home and family. The food no it not the best italian food North of the North End, but it is a great deal and fill you till your stuffed. The Lunch buffet and Sunday Meatball supper is the best deal in town. No maybe the World!!!

I think this pizza is good. Probably not the best I've ever had, but it's pretty good. I like their meatball pizza so I assume their meatballs are also good. It's thick pizza kinda like Pizza Hut but not nearly as greasy or disgusting. The caesar salad was ok too, like something you'd make at home. I didn't find the prices to be too high for what you got, plus you don't have to tip anybody 20% necessarily (but there is a donation jar as you leave). I just found it to be too loud and chaotic. When I went, there was at least 1 birthday party and a giant youth soccer get together. Way too many kids ages 6-10 in one area. I almost died. They also should just put numbers on your table (like Chuck E Cheese or whatever) instead of constantly calling out everyone's name all the time. And when I went, guess how many people named Kelley were there? FOUR. Watch how many times I got the wrong Kelley's food. Probably more work than it's worth. I would order and pick up to bring home.

First let me say at one time I probably would have given Prince another star or two but the experiences I've had are so horrible I almost feel ashamed to give these guys two stars. The ONLY reason I'm even giving them two stars is because I actually like their pizza but I will probably never be back. Prince isn't known for customer service. What you get is counter service and most of the time you get some rude, snotty teenager that won't answer questions about the menu. That was always just expected so I was willing to put up with it. The food is overpriced considering you don't get any real service. Drinks come in paper cups and they don't offer refills so you better order a pitcher of soda. Not offering refills at a pizza joint is surprising considering most restaurants these days offer free refills. You order your food at the counter and then they call out your name. It's a very unusual setup. The place is loud and there's a lot of families on the weekends so you get a lot of screaming kids running around. The food is OK. I like the pizza but the Chicken Piccata is way overpriced. It's a ton of pasta with one small piece of chicken. I mean I know I'm going out to eat but I make Chicken Piccata at home that serves two for less than $5 and it's a hundred times more delicious. Why am I going to pay nearly $15 for Chicken Piccata that is so bland? I don't care for capers and was asking the guy at the counter about what was in the Chicken Piccata and he had no clue. He just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. The buffet is nothing special. They don't offer much other than stale pizza and luke warm pasta for lunch. The salad bar is a joke so don't even bother with that. It's not even worth what they charge. The comedy club used to be good but the last time we went it was so bad they embarrassed themselves. I mean Lenny Clarke and Artie Janario (spell?) are great but Tony V was so drunk his act was terrible. The room was half-filled and nobody was laughing. We were all more uncomfortable than anything else. The worst part is I used to like these guys on Facebook and I posted a comment about an experience I had. The comment was polite and nothing but constructive criticism but whoever is in charge of their Facebook page immediately deleted my comment and blocked me. No apology. No response like how can we make this better for you. Nothing but delete the not so positive comment and block the guy. Yep, they blocked me! Bottom line the food is just OK overall. The place is way overrated. There's much better Italian places in Boston where you get full service, friendly service, for the same cost or lower than what you pay at Prince. I won't let a restaurant disrespect me and my family even if the food is good. I used to come here to eat often but now I just drive on by. I hope they learn a lesson on how to treat their customers. What's sad is how good this place could be if they worked on a few things and cleaned up their menu.

Went here tonight with my son. The pizza was good, I kind of liked the funky set-up of ordering at the counter and waiting for someone to call your name. The pizza was tasty, so that's what this is about. Good pizza. Two things that'd make it better? 1. Make the set-up your schtick. It was confusing at best. Make it fun to be disoriented like that and it becomes charming. 2. Craft beer, lots of em, on tap. Only other thing I thought was a drag was the sheer terror of trying to get out of that place. Cars coming at 50 miles per hour... after waiting a while I really felt like I just closed my eyes and gunned it.

From the casual atmosphere to the delicious pizza and the requisite post-pizza soft serve, Prince consistently delivers a great experience. I wish I could eat there every day. I'm motivated to write my first review after thoroughly enjoying another successful Prince trip last night and noticing the haters here on Yelp. If you're expecting a fine dining restaurant, the giant leaning tower out front should tip you off that Prince isn't about that. It's about friendship, pizza with a perfectly crispy and buttery crust, the occasional pitcher or two of BL, getting a soft serve regardless of how much pizza you just ate, and leaving happily (over)full. Family-owned Prince gets it right. Don't forget to throw a tip in the mini-tower on your way out for the high school kids who bring out your 'za.

Like everyone else, I grew up eating at Prince. I remember coming here as a kid with all 10 cousins, Aunts and Uncles, I had my 6th birthday party here (with Bozo-of course) and I may or may not have eaten 22 slices of Prince Pizza on a field trip in high school beating every single foot ball player. Probably not something to be proud of, but whatever. To me, their pizza still tastes as delicious as it was then. What prompted me to write this review was the experience that I had today and the service I received from Prince the last month and a half or so. I planned my sisters baby shower here and everything was great. I believe the manager that I worked with was Ryan. He was super helpful in the weeks leading up to the event. We even popped in during the week to take a look at the room. We were stumped on what else to serve at the shower so they brought out a bunch of stuff for us to try. Today was the shower and everything was perfect. The food, the room, the service. The eggplant rollatini were to die for. I would absolutely recommend this place for someone planning a private event. Special shout out to our server, Fiona! She handled my OCD requests like a champ. Also, can't forget Joey who was always willing to lend a hand. Lastly, their function room is ADORABLE. You would never know this cute room is there. Thanks, Prince!

I've been going to this place since I was a kid, and would have to rate this as one of my most favorite pizza places. The crust is buttery, perfect amount of sauce, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Their pizza is a bit more pricey than your average chain restaurant. The restaurant style is a bit more rustic (kinda looks like a giant barn). It's family owned and they're very friendly. If you can get there for their all-you-can-eat lunch, do it! $5 for all the pizza/pasta you can eat! Sometimes there's a line at the pizza station, and the layout is not very conducive to cycle through, but for $5...! And if you want their pizza to-go, you can get the pre-cooked pizzas, which you just need to re-cook when you get home. I think they're $20 for 3 pizzas, which is not a bad deal, especially if you love that buttery crust!

Came here with about 20 coworkers after work. Pretty large place. At the time we came, it was pretty noisy because half the restaurant was reserved for a girls softball league celebratory dinner. Started with the very spicy buffalo wings, followed by fried calamari. Buffalo wings were nice and spicy, but the calamari was rubbery. Pizza, however, was pretty good. We ordered 6 of the specialty pizzas. Pizzas were of medium thickness, but not doughy, but had a nice combination of crispiness and chewiness. My favorite was the scampi pizza with garlic, shrimp, olive oil, and no sauce. Kind of hectic inside, but a lot of locals have been coming here for years. Worth another visit!

I've been going every once in a while to the Prince Pizzeria for their lunchtime Pizza Buffet for several years now. On weekdays only, for $4.99 you can eat all you want of several varieties of pizza. The buffet also has cooked Ziti pasta, Garlic Bread and Sauce. The pizza is quite good, though not exceptional. On the buffet, there are typically at least three or four pizzas with different (single) toppings. The Eggplant pizza is very good, and sometimes (hint: ask "Esther") they'll make a Jalepeño pizza that is delicious! I like being able to add a bit of extra sauce on the pizzas at the buffet; it goes nice with the crust. A couple of years ago, you could add a salad bar for only 99 cents, but the price has now crept up to $3.99, and is no longer worth it. The small salad bar, relegated to the back corner of the dining room, has just a few meager items: iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, canned beets, etc.. If someone purchased the salad bar as their entire meal, then $3.99 might be a fair price, but when you've already paid $4.99 for "all-you can-pizza", the salad bar should be a lower priced add-on, especially for what it is. On this latest visit there, I was also disappointed to see that the self-service water dispenser had been removed from it's longtime location on the corner of the bar. I didn't ask what the story was, but I hope it's not gone for good. (I've noticed a disturbing trend in some restaurants lately that seem to be limiting choices for those of us who prefer drinking water with meals. No longer is water served as a matter of course, we're having to go out of our way to obtain it!) Of course, at lunchtime, be prepared for a slew of school busses to arrive at any time and unleash hundreds of screaming kids into the restaurant. However, the Prince Pizzeria has been handling this sort of crowd for a long, long time. The children are usually off in a separate dining room and don't go through the buffet. It is amazing though, to watch the waitresses deliver countless pizzas during these times. I imagine there's some giant pizza producing machine in the kitchen churning them all out. But however they do it, the pizzas at Prince Pizzeria always seem to make everyone happy!

This place is a little different. I came here after driving by many times on Route 1. Upon entering I found the whole set up just plain confusing. You order at a counter and then take a seat. Wait, I thought this was a restaurant.. Not Papa Gino's. When your food is ready they yell your name out! Heres the kicker- The food does not come out all at once, so you'll be hearing lots of name yelling while you're enjoying your meal. Overall, the pizza is OK. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The place had a weird odor, and I found the food way overpriced for the lack of service.

Its hard to review Prince Pizzeria. You can't judge this place just based on the food or the decor. You really do have to take the history into account. If this were any other restaurant, I would probably give it three stars (maybe even two). I remember going here as a kid so it is an experience going back. The food has not changed much. I remember how amazing it was when I was young but today is seems just okay... okay..... Its outdated. The crust on the pizza is very rich, almost like a pastry.. It is definitely not amazing pizza. The other food is just okay too.. We also had the wings and pasta... it is better than some lower level chains like applebee's... But the real allure of this place is the fact that they have not changed in forty years. Its a blast from the past. The hilltop is similar but that place is sad. Prince seems to still have quite a bit of life in it. They are clean, and there is still quite a bit of energy coming from the families who frequent it with their children. Overall, its affordable decent food. And the process of ordering at the counter and then waiting for your name to be called is fun.. I wouldnt recomend it for a first date but if you have children or you want to go with friends to chill out.. its great... There are plenty of place trying to make more contemporary types of pizza. This place has a niche.

The lunch buffet is a good deal. It's mostly only pizza (including dessert pizza). But, once-in-awhile, that's fun.

Been going here with my family for over 20 years...best pizza ever! They even included a India flag next to the leaning tower =)

Prince will always get 5 Stars in my heart... I grew up on this stuff. We had family birthday parties here, with Calvin the Clown. Youth Sports banquets, we came to Prince. School pizza parties, yup we were eating here. Oh and just a nice night out for dinner as an adult, it's still a great place. Growing up in Lynnfield, I admit I was spoiled by the amount of times I came here. But now, living in Belmont, Prince is one of the things I look forward to if I have to drive through Saugus. I'll try to stop in and pick up a box of pre-cooked pizzas. The Castraberti family that owns Prince couldn't be a friendlier group of people. And for those of us from the area, we recognize all of them working various positions behind the counter. Always smiling and greeting you as you entered Prince. It truly was a sad day to learn of the passing of Arthur, this past summer. He purchased a 12-seat drive-up pizza stand in 1961 and turned it into the flourishing establishment you'll find on Route 1 today. Prince absolutely has a lifelong supporter in me.

Every time I go to a charity function - of a banquet.. Prince is hosting it. Pizza is D E L I C I O U S ! and i'm happy that the tower is still standing. The prices are fair and they give back to the Saugus community.

The most bland pizza I have ever had. I had high expectations given the reputation and elaborate outside decor. However, I was disappointed by the cafeteria format and what was eventually delivered to our table. My family and I ordered 4 pizzas with various toppings. They were easily the most flavorless pizzas I have ever had. Even my 8 year old complained there were no spices used. Seriously, the cheese, sauce, toppings, and even crust were somehow lacking any flavor. How can you make a bacon topped pizza and not even taste the bacon? The cafeteria approach forces you to return to the counter every time you want another drink or dessert. Not route 1 material. Not with Polcaris across the street is this place even worth a glance.

Prince would NEVER get below 5 stars from me! I've been coming here for 20+ years. I love everything about this place! The salad bar with goldfish, the buttery crust of the pizza, the perfect fusion of cheese & sauce, the cozy bar setting - if you don't like it here, then I'm not sure you have working taste buds. We held every youth league soccer banquet here, most high school sports banquets and attended plenty of Giggles nights. I live in California now, but Prince tops the list of restaurants to hit when I'm back on the east coast. Simply put, good pizza on the west coast is hard to find.. when I crave pizza, I crave Prince. Give me Prince or give me... well, just give me Prince :)!

I had a lot of fun when I went here. It's all about what you have in mind when you go. This is great place to go with friends, hang, and chill. I mean there is a leaning tower of pizza...what more could you ask for? A full bar you say? Oh, well don't worry, they have that too.

After Steve Sweeny got hurled a bottle Molotov cocktail style at him at the adjoining giggles comedy club, I knew this was the happening place to be. So I went and I indulged. I stepped through the door and purveyed the menu even though I knew what I wanted. Not a wide selection, but a decent selection. I ordererd the veal parmgiana sub and a small 7 inch pizza. I went to the bar and waited for my food. I ate a ceasar salad while I waited, which was complimentary with the veal. I noticed the typical old school italian family style atmosphere. When the veal arrived, I immediately noticed the healthy portion of fries and and the healthy portion of veal. The veal was rich with marina sauce and rich with cheese. It met my expectations. The pizza was good, but since the place is a pizzeria, I expected a little bit better. I am always disappointed when a pizza place does not serve individual slices. I still prefer my other favorite pizza places and italian restaurants. But when I am in the area, I will be back.

Living close to RT 1 can be a blessing and a curse. We like to try new places so we decided to try this place. I will never ever go back here. And this is why. We ordered the following: Salad Bar Caesar Salad Cheese pizza with half black olives Chicken Broccoli Ziti My date could not eat his Caesar, it was over dressed and the lettuce was wilted. It really looked like a pile of green slop with croutons. I had the salad bar, meh. The options consisted of lettuce, beets, cucumbers, cheese, and dressings. Seriously lame and under impressing. My date's ziti came out 15 minutes before my pizza. The ziti wasn't bad but the sauce looked like it came from a jar. Honestly could have made that in 2.2 seconds. He didn't complain so we have no complaints there. My pizza came out 15 minutes later. Which was really obnoxious because I hate eating after the other person has finished. The crust tasted like a pre-made pizza hut crust and it was only slightly warm. This review doesn't sound too bad right? So here is why I won't go back. I got incredibly sick this morning. And I know it was from that place. My date didn't get sick and he didn't have my pizza. So if you don't want to risk dying the next morning, don't eat here.

this must be an old timers & family (with super loud kids) place. stopped here on the way to the airport for lunch. the manager who took our order didn't even say hello or explain that the drinks would be brought out to us, he stopped and answered the phone twice and we only ordered drinks and the buffet. the pizza on the buffet was cold and there's not much to offer on the salad bar. even the pizza offerings were sparse for the price we paid, my teenager only made one trip! the kids welcomed getting back in the car versus staying in the noisy atmosphere and the bathrooms weren't very clean. i would not recommend this place and we won't go back. Pizza Hut is better quality and cheaper and i don't like Pizza Hut!!!

My good friend swears by this place. Her and a mutual friend have a ritual of attending as much as they can get together. I have been invited a few times and cannot grasp the deep love they have for Prince. I have never made it to the buffet because its during my work hours but I have heard a lot of good things, minus it being packed. They have a full bar which is always a star in my book :) When you walk in you place your order with the cashier and give your name, go sit down and they'll call you to raise your hand and they'll bring it to your table. Their pizza is good, nothing amazing. Not too much sauce, thick greasy yummy cheese and a crunchy crust (not so crunchy you cut the roof of your mouth, ouch!). Garlic bread is generously covered with melted butter and garlic flavor, I am pretty sure I ate 80% of the basket. Starch and butter? I'm all over it. I'd come back next time my friend invited me, and if I ever have a day off during the buffet I'd check it out. I am not too interested in the pasta dishes because I just know it won't be anything like the authentic italian place in my neighborhood.

Had this pizza while in town visiting a friend. It's a pizza shop, didn't have high expectations, but the food was bomb and affordable. No problems with the ordering system like some other people are complaining about on here...

My favorite pizza around! Definitely a matter of taste though- this is not a typical italian style pizza. The crust is amazing and the pizza is very light. 2 slices probably equals 1 of a slice anywhere else. It's a big restaurant that's good for kids parties. I would not recommend getting the half-cooked bake at home pizzas from Prince though... they never taste the same. I think Prince is probably over-priced, but you can't get pizza like this anywhere else.

Another one of the stops along Rt 1 we wanted to try cause of the cheesiness of the decor. We arrived at 9:30pm on a Sunday. First of all, we found it a bit strange that this place was cafeteria-style; we thought we were going to a restaurant. Nevertheless, we ordered a pizza and a pitcher of beer (medium pizza with 3 toppings and Bud came to $27), and sat ourselves. We noticed that there were a few families there with screaming children - past their bed time, to be sure - but everyone cleared out soon after we sat down because staff started turning off lights in different sections of the restaurant and taking all the table settings away. The pizza was out in about 10 mins. It was very, very hot, tasted ok - we both couldn't eat the crust because it was a bad combo of dry and buttery. After we had our first couple bites, all the employees sat at a table together and one clapped twice really loud, I guess that was to signal my husband and me plus the other 2 families that were there that it was time to get out. Bad service, semi-ok pizza, but totally not worth the stop. Won't ever be back.

Been going here since it opened in 1961. Family owned and operated and very personable staff. The way in which you order stands today as it did back in 1961. You order, you sit, you raise your hand when they call your name. You eat. No big deal. Is it the best pizza. No. Is it very tasty, yes. Other menu items are also good. Prices are reasonable and the traffic through the restaurant on any given day tells you one thing, the family has done something right to maintain its popularity with the young and old. I simply think its one of the best success stories for any restaurant along Route 1.

Prince Pizza's buffet is awesome. When I work 1 - 9pm at my job, I make sure to go there at least twice during the work week. It fill me up for the whole day! The buffet has a very nice selection of pizzas. Eggplant is my favorite. Be sure to go to the buffet on non-school vacation and non-holiday weeks if you do not want to wait in line. The people working there are very friendly and the restaurant is clean and neat. I really enjoy eating my pizza buffet while watching one of their big flat screen tv's. Only if they had their chicken fingers and/or meatballs during the Monday - Friday buffet ,the whole buffet experience would be taken to another level. The best part of the buffet aside from the high quality food is that it is very affordable ,

I have been to this place twice and both times I found it a let down. The waitstaff is not great or helpful, the pizza tastes like cheap boxed frozen pizza, and the serving sizes are not accurate (the large antipasto salad says it feeds 4 people, well it definitely would not even feed 2 anorexic girls. It is tiny, for 4 people). There are rooms for events but nothing is ever labeled to say which event is where and no one is all that excited to point you in the right direction. I will say that both times I have been here I had a few drinks at the bar and the bar tenders are fantastic and helpful. But, that is the only positive thing I can say about the place.

My family has been going to Prince forever. My favorite is their pizza (with extra cheese), It's so good and always cooked perfectly. Another of my favorite is the dessert pizza that they have with the lunch buffet during the week. I actually wish they sold it all the time by the slice, I'd definitely buy a slice when I go! Parties here are great too.

Wow, Prince is as good as it gets, and has been for 30+ years! It's a low-key, fun and awesome pizza joint! Fiona provides excellent customer service, quick service, and always with a smile at the bar! Kudos to Fiona and Prince Pizza A+++++++++++ ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I stopped here for dinner late one night last week. I had not been here in over 20 years. The inside has not changed at all! The food is ok, not great, but not awful either. What I was impressed with was the service and the friendliness of the staff. It was getting near closing time when we arrived, but they did not care, they were chipper and friendly and offered to help anyway they could. They are mostly high school students, but they really seemed to like their jobs and like helping the customers. You don't see that very often, so I just wanted to give them the recognition they deserve!

Ellio's quality pizza and poor service. The only thing that keeps this place in business is their "all you can eat" deal for about $5.

I ordered a half cheese and pepperoni and mushroom pizza (cooked light), a salad bar plate and a couple of beers. Good as always. It a pizza place that my in-laws have been coming to for about 40 years+ and they always take care of us. The local kids work here growing up and always come back.

So this is yummy enough pizza with tons of cheese and decent helpings of whatever toppings you order. The restaurant is regularly full of families (with loud kids) and the bar area gets packed during games. It's a good option if you're in the area but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to have dinner here.

Our family has been coming to Prince Restaurant for many years. We have even booked several family gatherings here in their function rooms. Over the past couple of years, we have noticed a huge decline in both value and service. Last night, we waited in line over 15 minutes for our order to be taken and the restaurant was not even crowded. (In fact, that was the first thing we noticed when we pulled into the parking lot at 5:15pm on a Saturday night - there were very few cars, which is extremely unusual. A sign that other people are noticing the decline as well?). There was no one at the front counter taking orders. The young lady had been helping a large party get settled into the restaurant and just left the counter unmanned for several minutes. A manager finally noticed that the order line was getting long and took our order. When I told him we had been waiting a long time, he just shrugged and said "sorry". He was not at all pleasant, very grumpy and apathetic. For two pizzas and one order of chicken marsala with 4 soft drinks, our total came to over $51! I had to check my receipt several times to make sure we weren't charged for something we didn't order. It seemed like way too much. We could have gone to a nice, full service restaurant like Polcari's across the street and spent less with better service and food quality. After we sat down at a table in the dining room, my son noticed that water was leaking on his head, apparently from the a/c unit, so we had to gather our belongings and get up to move to another table. I told a waitress and she said, "Oh yes, we know about that leak." Well, if they had known about it, why didn't they post some sort of sign on the table advising patrons not to sit there? Finally, our pizza arrived without the order of chicken marsala. After a while, I had to ask a waiter to check on the order for me and it arrived about 10 minutes later. In my experience, restaurants never bring out part of an order until everything is ready. This was, by far, the worst experience we have ever had at this restaurant and will not be returning. Very sad, because I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl.

I have been driving by this place for years and finally decided to have dinner there last wednesday night. My boyfriend and I ordered a sausage pizza and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks where still cold, it seems as though they're frozen and are simply heated up. And the pizza was stale and horrible. Although I was starving, I couldn't eat more than a bite of anything. Don't bother coming by.

I've been here for lunch and dinner. You order your food at the counter, take a seat at any open table in the dining room, and staff will bring the food out to your table. For lunch, I tried the "all-you-can-eat" lunch buffet (Mon-Fri) which offers pizza (cheese, pepperoni, vegetable), ziti with sauce, and garlic bread, a quick lunch for under 6 bucks. The pizzas and pasta on the buffet are okay, nothing to rave about. For dinner, I enjoy the Chicken Cacciatore served with spaghetti or ziti and bread ($10.99), which is a good portion served hot. The dinner includes the salad bar, which has the basic greens, garnishes, dressings, and cold salads. I've had decent meals here, but the service here is mainly focused on bringing food out and clearing tables.

I was born in Malden, MA, and I have been going here for years on and off. (My grandmother used to live in Saugus - we would go there on vacation all the time.) They opened in 1961, two years after I "opened" for business. I'm assuming I was probably eating solid food in '61 so its a safe bet I've been eating there for 46 years or so. Our last trip there was April 21, 2007, after watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees(!) on Friday Night. The place is not a joke. It is an 'old school' dining experience. First lets explain the ambiance. A picture helps: good-times.webshots.com/… The place is right on Route 1 in Saugus, MA. It has a replica of the Leaning Tower outside. And flags. This is not Rao's NYC or Davio's in Boston. Its a pizza joint. This is not fine dining or a place to go on a romantic date. This is a place to go with your wife and small kids, with your brothers after a ball game, or with your extended family. Don't let the kitschy outside fool you. They are trying to compete on the same stretch of road with the Hilltop Steak House (giant cactus sign and plastic cows) and the miniature golf place with the orange dinosaur. (Note photos of those available at weblink above.) Continue your quest pilgrim, for the finest "New England" style pizza. Inside the decor consists of tables of various sizes. There are the the perfunctory elements of a typical 60's style Italian restaurant (as a kid I remember the placemats with the instructions on how to twirl your spaghetti.) The high def plasma TV's will usually be displaying sports of some kind - and are appreciated and welcome in my book! As you enter you go to the counter to order your food and they bring it to your table. Some people find this strange, but I usually end up chatting with the help and checking out the kitchen. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean. What I love about this place is the pizza. There is something very different going on here with the pizza. I've had pizza all over the USA, but the pizza in New England (here, and Pinocchio Pizza & More, 1661 Falmouth Rd Centerville, MA 02632) is a different take. Its a slighty thicker crust, with a crunchy-light consistency, with a hint of a cornmeal(?) type flouring to keep it from sticking to the board when they are rolling it out. (As a comparison the crust consistency is similar to the Lou Malnati's - Tastes of Chicago deep dish style pizza's we had shipped in for our 2007 Super Bowl party.) The sauce/cheese quality and flavor is superb. A 13" Cheese Pizza is 10.95. Extra ingredients (e.g. pepperoni, linguica(!), eggplant, etc.) are 1.25 a throw. They even have "special" toppings e.g. Ricotta which are specially priced. My instincts tell me that this place would probably have excellent low-brow subs, meatball sandwiches, veal parmigiana, etc. I haven't had any of those, but they look like a safe bet. I would probably avoid the pure pasta plays... I had the Spaghetti and Meat Balls back in 1967, and as I recall they were excellent... but I can't find my notebook from then to give a detailed review. Also, if you want steak tips, roll down the road to the Hilltop. Finally, they sell beer and wine. A last meal of a pepperoni pizza and a few Heinekens (or a pitcher of Bud) would not be a bad way to go... If you can't get to the Gramercy Tavern. Overall I rate the pizza 5 stars, the pure pasta plays (-1) stars, with a bonus +1 star rating for having a replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Their menu is available on line at princerestaurant.com

Horrible and not cheap. Took my wife and two kids today and got a pizza and two small plates of pasta with a salad bar for 40 bucks. The pizza was awful the salad bar has about 6 items and not once did a server come by. Don't waste your money.

On a drive into Boston I searched yelp for a gluten free restaurant and discovered the best gluten free pizza's around. Prince Pizzeria's gluten free pizzas are larger than the usual gluten free pizza with a deep flavorful crust and generous toppings cooked to perfection. The owner helped us order and later stopped by our table to chat and make sure we were enjoying our meal. He told us he orders the crusts from Florida and intentionally charges a little less than the cost. He has them on the menu so families with gluten intolerant family members to eat out together. There were lots of families with children when we were there for a Friday lunch. The staff were universally cheerful and efficient. I only wish we lived closer. It's now my number one place for pizza!

I love their buffet and their service in general. The fact that they also have a little ice cream stand inside makes it fun for the kids and adults to go and get it and not have to wait for it to be served to you. They also have softserve here. Which is my favorite kind of ice cream. The pizza is okay, not the best of the North Shore but the pricing for the buffet and the huge pitchers of soda make up for it. The staff is also very nice and their function/comedy room is pretty neat too. Huge parking lot too and a good place for a cheap function. Especially with kids involved.

Consistently terriffic! What else is there? Pizza? Delicious! MEATBALLS! Out of this world! Even the buffalo wings are awesome! My wife & I always manage to find a seat at the bar where the young man working on Sundays is always so friendly and makes us feel welcome! A pitcher of beer, a Prince Pie and a side of meatballs....it don't get any better! LOVE IT!

I had my daughter's first birthday party at Prince and I wasn't sure what that entailed but I was so pleasantly surprised, I had to 5 star Yelp them. First of all, the kids particiapted in 'make your own pizza' which allowed for two toppings and all the usual suspects, dough, sauce, cheese all neatly delivered in child sized pizza pans, ready for baking once prepared by each child. We had some of our own activities planned, which allowed time for the pizzas to cook and kiddies not to get bored. Once the pizzas came out, both for kids and adults and everyone had time to eat and play, the waitress came out with all the makings for decorate your own cupcakes! We had our cake of course and did gifts, all the things that kids love but having this kind of setting and activities for the kids made my daughters birthday a huge hit! The staff at Prince allowed us to spread out freely and did not hold our feet to the fire when we went past the time we thought our party would take. Wait staff was attentive and helpful and I would, HANDS DOWN, recommend this for a childs party. Fun fun fun for both the kids and their parents. Thanks Prince. We love you.

I went there for dinner last night. I had the chicken parmesan dinner which was delicious. It comes with an all you can eat salad bar and fresh baked rolls. Plenty of food for the price. The people who took my order and brought over the food were extremely friendly and made sure we had plenty of silverware, napkins, and drinks. The manager, Joe, took the time to check on us and ensure we were having a great time. I will definitely go here again.

This place has a special place in my heart because like many local kids I grew up with this as the venue for many after field trip lunches and fundraisers. As a parent now this place is heaven for a family. The order - sit - name gets called and brought to you when you raise a hand system is original and makes a very large place easily manageble. The prices are good for a pizza place, the pasta and salad selections are great, the pitchers and beers are good and the staff is fine considering the simple tasks they have to do. I can't stress how kid friendly this place is without it being chuck e. cheese. Perfect place if you're trying to get a two year old used to sitting in a high chair at a restaurant. I've never had to wait here, its never been so busy its been uncomfortable and the quality of the pasta and the buttery pizza is great. I hope it stays like this for a long time.

Honestly, I was disappointed in Prince Pizzeria. Just about every time I've driven by, the place has been busy - plus, the giant Leaning Tower of Pisa on the roof pleases me with its oh-so-typical-for-Route-1 tackiness... so I went there last night just to try something different, and by the time I was done eating I really wished I hadn't. Not knowing any better (and seeing that the pizza didn't look that great), I went up to the counter and I ordered the lasagna. I was given the option of a caesar salad or the salad bar, and since I'm not an enormous fan of caesar dressing I went with the bar. Well... when I checked it out and all they had were some white iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, cottage cheese, and sliced red onion, I was secretly wishing for caesar. I sat down and went without the salad. The lasagna was just fine, but really nothing to write home about - honestly, the level of flavor was akin to something that was purchased in the frozen food aisle of the grocery store and heated in a microwave. The garlic bread I ordered was a bit better, but it really wasn't enough to save the meal. In summary, my issue comes down to this - if I want to go out for dinner and spend $15 for lasagna and a drink, I'll go to a sit-down restaurant where A. the quality will be better, B. the bread will be free and likely unlimited, and C. I don't have to shout and wave my hands in the air to tell the server where to bring my food.

Never really cared for their pizza but this place is good to hold events of functions. Prices leave much to be desired but cheap compared to other restaurants on Route 1. The comedy club attached to it is pretty good. In 2006, I got to see Steven Wright & Jackie Marting (The Joke Man) who used to be on Howard Stern back in the day. Good memories.

Chuck S.
We go here quite often to meet friends and enjoy the casual atmosphere. The food is really nothing to shout about. Chicken fingers are dry and overcooked. The salad bar is next to pitiful. The pasta and meatballs are quite good. Pizza is so-so. Recently prices were hiked upward (probably to subsidize the opening of "Prince To Go" on the other side of the highway. The one glaring hike was the 50% increase in the meatball price. Really now!
(3)
Jemima T.
I'll start with the positive. Nice enough atmosphere. Friendly enough waitstaff. Good enough bread and olive oil. I just dont find the food to be that good. It's edible, and I've never gotten sick from eating there, but it's not even as good as Bertucci's and Caraba's, which are just down Route 1 from this location.

Ok, I'm another biased reviewer that has been going to the leaning towah since I was a kid. If I was from out of town and stopped for a bite. I would expect Italian pizza on a chewy crust with chunky sauce and fresh mozzarella. I know better, the pizza crust is very light and crispy and stays together no matter how, now my kids, wave it around. The buffet is good for people in a hurry or hungry teenagers but they do have table service so have them bake you a pizza and get some sides, lasagna. Especially when you have little kids who might eat 1 or 2 pieces. They yell your name when your order is ready and bring it to you. Yes the pizza is a bit like frozen and they sell it that way to go if you like, good to keep in the freezer. Check out Lenny Clarke or Steve Sweeney when they are at the comedy club, very funny. Its a small venue so you can't hide from the comedians.

If you're looking for a delicious family-style Italian feast on a budget, look no further than the leaning tower in Saugus! Consistency is key here... whether you love their chicken parmesan, golden brown toasted ravioli, shrimp scampi pizza, or meatballs... they are as scrumptious time after time. My only regret is that I don't live closer, but I make sure I stop there whenever I'm in the area! I highly recommend this restaurant... try it, you won't be sorry!

The pizza is fantastic, and if you are health concious they have a whole wheat crust that tastes better than most pizza's with regular crust!!

Service was really friendly and attentive. The pizza, however, was not great. The pizza toppings were very sparse. We ordered the whole wheat pizza crust. It was tasteless and too thick. It was like eating a slice of hard bread. Except for the service, we were not impressed.

pizza: good crust, tastes like it's buttered/fried...(hahaha) ceasar salad: croutons are great, lettuce is fresh, pasta: ziti, broccli, garlic sauce.....al dente and great~ ravioli: stuffed with cheese... overall: good food, come here if you don't want to go to bertucci's :)

This is just bad Pizza. Bad food, (are the owners Italian) do they cook this way at home, if they are Italian I doubt it . I don't like to stand at a counter & order my food. Lunch is gross, ever see a family of six that doesn't speak English eat 8 pizza's. Too quote one of my favorite movies, "I got egg noodles and ketchup" Skip this place, it's like the Hill Top. It's survives on legend alone.

i like the fact that they have pitchers of beer here, but that is about it. the pizza is so-so, and the service is extremely slow on the weekends. you cannot justify waiting 45 minutes for TWO pizzas in the middle of the afternoon. i would not go here again unless it was for a gathering whre i had no choice. i also am not too fond of the self-serving service.
(2)
Lisa C.
I want to like this place because it's (a) convenient and (b) pizza - which is one of my favorite foods. But no, I simply can't. God knows I've tried. The only good thing about this place is their mozzarella sticks...lots of breading so they're actually crispy. But the pizza is deep dish and although they charge a lot for their "specialty toppings" they're really stingy with them. I paid $2 for essentially 1 complete artichoke heart. Really?!??! Next time I'll just add them at home. $2 for a whole jar! Woohoo!

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and to this day it's still one of my favorite pizza places IF NOT my top. It's different than any other pizza, you just can't compare it to Regina's or Santarpio's (which are both also very good). It's almost like a greek style, only BETTER. I salivate just thinking about it. Lunch buffet is a really good deal. If you think the place is too noisy for dinner time, since there are always tons of kids in here, you can sit at the bar and order there. It's much quieter. LOVE this place. Way to go Castriberti family. Ti Amo.

Had some really great pizza here last night...the leaning tower was a beacon in the freak October snowstorm. I had some tasty fried raviolis that were crisp and cheesy and not at all oily. The highlight was the pizza we got on the best wheat crust that has ever graced my lips. I added broccoli and chicken for a truly fab pizza orgasm. The place was warm and friendly. I sat at the bar and had a lively conversation with some of the locals and a businessman passing through. Drinks were had and some jokes exchanged. I'll have to come by and check out their buffet and add to my review.

I don't like their pizza. Ok that's said (and my husband is a fan) but I just have to write regarding their eggplant Parmesan. It is excellent time after time. Don't even bother ordering anything else. Salad bar is eh. Pasta ok. But the eggplant... now that's another story. Its layered sort of like lasagna. Thin slices of eggplant with just the right amount of coating and cheese between the slices. Smothered with a just right gravy. No overpowering extra spices and you can really taste eggplant. Go ahead, try it, then head over for some comedy next door. A nice night out without going into the city.

OMG, help me Rhonda, this place is amazing! So going to high school near this place automatically means this is where you eat lunch on your way back to school from a field trip... this was by far the highlight of the field trip. i remember the boys would have slice eating contests (they didnt eat the crust) the last number i remember was 15. The pizza here is a-ma-zinga the slices are cute and small so you don't feel crazy full off one slice and having a second slice won't feel like 60 extra pounds. The crust is amazing and you dont feel bad for eating it b/c its small. I need to stop talking about it before I book a flight home, to go there. it's ok i'll just wait for thanksgiving...skip the turkey...its cool

This is a longtime favorite of mine; I used to go here every week with my family growing up, getting some margherita pizzas and a pitcher of root beer and grabbing one of the communal tables in the dining area. To me, it is really an unforgettable experience and a real throwback of a place. And the pizza is some of the best in the Boston area, in my opinion (especially the margherita). It may look tacky (and what on Route 1 doesn't?), but Price Pizzeria is a really terrific place.

I've burnt my tongue a many times here year after year but I just can't want to take a bite out of their pizza!

This place has been around so long now that it is an institution. Their food is really good, especially the pizza. Don't go for a quiet, romantic dinner, though, because it is a raucous place with servers calling out orders, family style tables shared with strangers, people having a good time, etc. I had so many good times here in my youth. Oh, youth! I also had some not so good times here, especially when I walked into the sliding glass door there thinking it was open. I also was given the heave ho by a long-term boyfriend here. Good times!

This is a legendary pizza joint...my family has been coming here since the 70's...it always hits the spot...i'm surprised by some of the negative reviews here......this place is awesome..period

The cheese pizza is good. The crust is very light, feather, flaky. Almost has a deep fried taste. The place is n-o-i-s-y, crowded and too busy. I hate being seated by the bathrooms and after begging a lot we were seated in the Back Room, which was half empty, but the chairs are lined back to back. The lady seated with her chair back to mine ofcourse had to get up several times and I was shoved under my table every time she got up. The waiteresses put the pitchers of drinks on our table, but forgot to get cups. Then ran and got the pizzas, but forgot to get any silverware or plates. After what seemed eternity she came back with some paper cups and straws and dishes for the pizzas, but no sliverware. So when we wanted to go home with our leftovers, we just grabbed one of their empty boxes and dumped our pizzas in and left. But all in all the place appeared clean and cheerful and the young ones had a great time.

We had my son's first birthday here in March 2011. We had about 35 adults and various children under the age of 8. What a great time! We had the whole comedy club room, we were able to set up a cake table, gift area, decorations, balloons, and a banner before the party started. The waitresses were very helpful and the ulimited pizza was delicious. We had a great variety of toppings, so everyone was able to have their favorite slices along with the classic cheese. I have been coming to prince for ~30 years (that makes me feel old!), and have attended many birthday parties and events here. I am happy to begin hosting my own with the same result of a good time had by all. Many of our friends and family were excited to come to the party because of their memories of past Prince visits. I am sure that they will be planning parties for their children at Prince too.

Do not go here for pasta. I don't know how the pizza is but the pasta is just awful. I went here because I got lost trying to find another Italian restaurant. You order your food then sit down and they bring it over to you. I had chicken, broccoli, and ziti with a garlic & olive oil sauce. It had very little flavor and the broccoli was underdone. The only reason I gave it a two is because it was better than the worst chicken, broccoli, & ziti, which is at Sam and Joe's in Danvers. And the salad was fresh & crisp and the bread was good here. If you need to eat Italian on Rte. 1, go to Polcari's instead. It's not amazing, but it's decent and has some flavor.

This place is a joke. You line up to order and then sit down. Some server then drops off your food at your table and that's that. If I wanted cafeteria style food, I would go to a food court. The place had some real potential back in the day, it was fun for a youngster's birthday party or whatever, but now, it's just sad. The food isn't very good and I thought it was on the expensive side for the quality. There are better places out there, try them.

Family-owned Prince Pizzeria is one of those Route 1 icons like Kowloon's and the Hilltop Steak House. In spite of the tackiness that is Route 1 there is usually a good reason these spots have survived for decades. In the case of Prince it's plain and simple; the pizza. Excellent crust with a good sauce, topped with tasty cheese served fresh and delivered quickly to your table. They serve other meals like pasta dinners but the pizza is the main attraction. The Arturo special is a personal favorite; onions, peppers, salami and mushrooms. My only issues with this place is the lack of table service and the noise level. The way it works is that you walk in, place your order at the counter, pay your tab then go grab a table in the dining room and wait for your name to be called. Anything additional you want to order you'll have to repeat the process. Not all that conducive to a relaxing meal or quality time with that special someone. But a great place to go with a large noisy group and as a result a popular place for families and large gatherings. (3.5 stars)

I just went here last night for the first time. LOVES IT. The pizza was delicious. Hot cheesy and crispy but chewy. Per Tony D the sauce is right on. We went after a movie around 9:30-ish so it was not mobbed, I can imagine it being a little crazy if it is prime time. Not being from Boston and not exploring this part of the world very often, I am discovering a new world of culinary fun on Route 1 as of late. There is something to be said for these long established local haunts where you can dine side by side with home town types. If you dare venture up here, you might have some fun!

Prince Pizza has a buffet that offers as many foods as you have limbs. Pasta, tomato sauce, cheese pizza on a metal serving plate, sausage pizza on one half and pepperoni for the rest (on a serving plate), and some funky pizza like pineapple. So it's like a Cici's but much worse in terms of selection, maybe taste too. During lunch, people come in for the buffet only to wait in line as people hunker over only 3 pizzas on the buffet table, and once those are gone, wait patiently for fresh pies to be presented. The food is sub par. You can buy frozen pizza and it'll taste better than Prince. The pasta and sauce taste like the cheapest pasta and sauce you can ever buy, watery and limp. I ordered a pizza pie, thinking that it would be different from the buffet. It was, in that the ordered pie now actually tastes like frozen pizza instead of crap. The dining area has a dirty feeling like the tables aren't properly cleaned, and the rusty wood colors doesn't help.

My favorite place for pizza..............the crust is perfect, not too thin, not too thick and slightly chewy with a great flavor. Not sure about the other Italian dishes here.............that's not what you get, you come here for the PIZZA! My favorite is the eggplant, meatball, pepperoni and regular cheese are all excellent too...........they have a salad bar that's really not worth paying extra for-iceburg lettuce, tasteless cut up tomatoes, onions, a couple of different dressings..............why do people have a problem ordering when you come in? Not a big deal, you give them your name (or a funny fake one) and you get your drinks right away and the pizza very soon.............the all you can eat buffet is a great deal.............this place has been here for years, always crowded that says a lot about this............our family has been coming here since the 70's, always a fun hangout. Funny, a Pizza Hut opened nearby right on route 1, no locals would go to Pizza Hut when Prince Pizza is right here!

Everytime I drove by Prince Pizza the parking lot was full. So I expected some pretty decent food at affordable prices. But when we walked in, I realized that this was the sizzler of pizza shops, where you order you food, take a number, and they deliver it to you. You can get up to refill your drinks if you want to. The food was fine, and certainly affordable, but not what I was expecting, and not what I wanted in a pizza shop or an italian restaurant. But if you like this style of eating, then check it out.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

(4)Tulan K.
(3)Dean C.
Very good pizza and at a good price. I ate there a couple years ago with family and had a very good pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese. Well worth eating there.
(4)Tomas G.

(3)N M.
(2)Anand S.
(4)Dana D.
Haven't eaten here in many years. The pizza is still good and the meatballs were excellent. I mostly ate the salad bar. They should have bigger plates for the salad bar and the blue cheese dressing was watery. Other than that Prince is still a good choice!
(4)Tammy C.
Won't go back as long as the has been Jonny pizza is there same crappy jokes! The guy is not even funny! Drinks weren't that great either
(1)Michele S.
I just went there yesterday after not being there in years. 5 min sitting down eating my salad and I had a cockroach sitting next to me!!! I was refunded my money and obviously won't be going there ever again!! Disappointed and disgusted!!

(1)Ash D.
(3)Chris L.
(5)Cynthia M.
Ok so the pasta sauce on their pasta buffet literally tastes like a can of diced tomatoes warmed up. The pizza is pretty awful the consistency of the crust is just bizarre. Thank goodness it's only $7 per person
(2)Brandon L.
this is a review about the take out ...
(1)Phil O.
You have to be in the mood for their uber-buttery, fluffy crust when you go here. It also seems to be a pretty popular place for little kids. I wasn't hugely impressed, but it's better than Pizza Hut :)
(3)David D.
The food here is great and the service is good so anytime you are looking for a cheese pizza and some prince wings, come here for some great food.
(5)Matthew C.
(1)Paula K.
(3)Brian L.
Had a football banquet here on 2 different nights this week. Great service and the kids love the all you can eat and drink followed by ice cream. Large enough area to accommodate large parties and families etc. would definitely use again for banquet affairs as well as personal visits for pizza...
(4)Kelley K.
(2)Tofiq A.
The pizza was great. I love their concept. Friendly staff who take pride in their job. I will come back next time I'm in the area.
(4)Nish J.
My Favorite place :) All friends and guest like to have pizza here. It is best place. Go with confidence :)
(5)Jason F.
wow, this place has some really bad reviews, but we had a pretty good experience. mind you, this isn't gourmet pizza, but we went for sunday dinner buffet for 8.99, and you can't beat that price. they also have giant meatballs, pasta and garlic bread. i really liked the meatballs, and the pizza was fine. it wasn't great, but wasn't horrible. the staff was nice enough, and i liked the really old school decor. plus, they have a replica leaning tower of pisa outside!
(3)Sue C.
Best pizza around! Have been going here since my sons was a toddler......great food, spirits and a great staff. I have hosted many parties here and they do a fabulous job. 5 stars is an easy one for this place!
(5)Suzanne S.
(1)Ryan P.
Great service. Lunch buffet is Awesome! Great Pizza, Pasta and garlic bread! When I am in the area for work I make sure I stop here for Lunch. Best Pizza Buffet on the North Shore!
(4)Robo T.

(3)Monica L.
I got the lunch buffet. The pizza was great, but it wasn't very warm. I wouldn't get the buffet again. Next time, I'd order fresh baked.
(3)Kelley D.

I have a gluten intolerance and was thrilled after trying the millet and flax crusted pizza. Best gluten free pizza ever!!!!

(4)Ron P.
Hi Trish, Thanks for your response. I've been going to Prince my whole life and my family has been since it was just a take out only!! I will definitely be back and glad to see you checking yelp and listening to our comments.

(2)Natalie T.
Nice pizza that has a nice crust and cheese, and really improved their food. The ravioli was delicious!
(5)CJ S.
Pizza terrible Fried Calamari was not cleaned properly had the inside fins things inside, gross, glad I didn't choke to death Raviolis were probably frozen from supermarket why is it always so crowed there?????? never again

(4)Peter H.
The lunch buffet is a good deal. It's mostly only pizza (including dessert pizza). But, once-in-awhile, that's fun.
(5)Dimple R.
Been going here with my family for over 20 years...best pizza ever! They even included a India flag next to the leaning tower =)
(5)Mike W.
(5)Malden G.
Every time I go to a charity function - of a banquet.. Prince is hosting it. Pizza is D E L I C I O U S ! and i'm happy that the tower is still standing. The prices are fair and they give back to the Saugus community.
(4)Frank N.

(5)Wally M.
Great Food, Great Price, Great Servie. Been going here since it opened.
(5)Ali W.
I had a lot of fun when I went here. It's all about what you have in mind when you go. This is great place to go with friends, hang, and chill. I mean there is a leaning tower of pizza...what more could you ask for? A full bar you say? Oh, well don't worry, they have that too.
(5)Kyle D.

(1)Molly R.
this must be an old timers & family (with super loud kids) place. stopped here on the way to the airport for lunch. the manager who took our order didn't even say hello or explain that the drinks would be brought out to us, he stopped and answered the phone twice and we only ordered drinks and the buffet. the pizza on the buffet was cold and there's not much to offer on the salad bar. even the pizza offerings were sparse for the price we paid, my teenager only made one trip! the kids welcomed getting back in the car versus staying in the noisy atmosphere and the bathrooms weren't very clean. i would not recommend this place and we won't go back. Pizza Hut is better quality and cheaper and i don't like Pizza Hut!!!
(1)Laura H.
(3)Straker C.
Had this pizza while in town visiting a friend. It's a pizza shop, didn't have high expectations, but the food was bomb and affordable. No problems with the ordering system like some other people are complaining about on here...
(5)Jesse S.
(4)holly h.
(2)Larry C.
(3)Chris S.
The best part of the buffet aside from the high quality food is that it is very affordable ,
(5)Annette M.
(2)C B.
(5)Karla M.
(5)Claudine D.
(3)Phil H.
Ellio's quality pizza and poor service. The only thing that keeps this place in business is their "all you can eat" deal for about $5.
(1)Michael S.
I ordered a half cheese and pepperoni and mushroom pizza (cooked light), a salad bar plate and a couple of beers. Good as always. It a pizza place that my in-laws have been coming to for about 40 years+ and they always take care of us. The local kids work here growing up and always come back.
(4)Flora R.
So this is yummy enough pizza with tons of cheese and decent helpings of whatever toppings you order. The restaurant is regularly full of families (with loud kids) and the bar area gets packed during games. It's a good option if you're in the area but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to have dinner here.
(3)Taylor N.
Great pizza! Had the Greek with spinach, feta, fresh tomatoes as well as Shrimp with garlic white sauce. Both delicious! Casual atmosphere and can sit for hours.
(5)Jayne B.

(1)Ian W.

(3)Chuck S.
Really now!
(3)Jemima T.

(4)Lori S.
(5)Bob B.
The pizza is fantastic, and if you are health concious they have a whole wheat crust that tastes better than most pizza's with regular crust!!
(5)Rachel C.
Service was really friendly and attentive. The pizza, however, was not great. The pizza toppings were very sparse. We ordered the whole wheat pizza crust. It was tasteless and too thick. It was like eating a slice of hard bread. Except for the service, we were not impressed.
(2)Changun S.
pizza: good crust, tastes like it's buttered/fried...(hahaha) ceasar salad: croutons are great, lettuce is fresh, pasta: ziti, broccli, garlic sauce.....al dente and great~ ravioli: stuffed with cheese... overall: good food, come here if you don't want to go to bertucci's :)
(3)Dave B.
(2)Sarah C.
i like the fact that they have pitchers of beer here, but that is about it. the pizza is so-so, and the service is extremely slow on the weekends. you cannot justify waiting 45 minutes for TWO pizzas in the middle of the afternoon. i would not go here again unless it was for a gathering whre i had no choice. i also am not too fond of the self-serving service.
(2)Lisa C.
Woohoo!
(2)Cheryl M.
Ti Amo.
(5)Scott P.
Prince pizza tastes like white bread with sauce and cheese. the rest of the menu is a waste of time. good comedy club with great acts. forget about the food. YUK!!!!!
(1)Anna F.
(4)Christine S.

(5)Linh V.
I've burnt my tongue a many times here year after year but I just can't want to take a bite out of their pizza!
(4)Elaine C.

Fantastic pizza, good service and good prices. I will definitely be back.

(2)Dale N.

(3.5 stars)
(3)Heather B.
(4)Lis L.

I love this place! I've been coming here for years. They have the best pizzas! It can be a bit noisy at times, but it's always a good time.
(4)praveen v.
wow! my family and i have been going to prince pizza for almost 20 years now! we know the manager and the family really well. they are such nice people. we always go there for birthdays, graduations, etc. the best pizza. better than any nyc pizza! for sure.
(5)KATHIE L.
(5)Julie E.
