Good, traditional breakfast. A good place when you want some comfort food, but don't want to do the dishes.

Typical hometown family restaurant. My husband and I go here for breakfast almost every weekend. As mentioned in an other review, you do not typically sit yourself, they only do this on off hours. We usually have the same sweet hostess and never wait more than 10mins; We always ask for a booth as well. Some waitresses are better than others, my favorites are a younger blond gentleman, girl with tattoos and an older woman (she's a little slower, but super sweet) Upon sitting we are generally greeted quickly and the coffee flows throughout our visit. After placing our orders, our food typically arrives in under 10mins. The food (as mentioned in another review by a local) is home style cooking; Greasy and all American good

I love fine dining like anyone else.....but if you're going here and expecting this place to be L'Espalier, then you're a schmuck. This is your typical greasy spoon restaurant in my old hometown. I've been coming here since I was a kid. The food is decent and yes, some of it's canned and/or boxed. But let's face it, a majority of breakfast joints typically are. The food is greasy, yes. The food is unhealthy, probably. But is the food at least decent, then yes. The menu is typical American fare so expect pancakes and bacon in the morning, burgers and seafood in the afternoon and night. It's a fairly sizable menu and I've never been disappointed. But that's also because I went in with low expectations. I'm not expecting this place to be earth shattering. I'm just expecting it to be decent cooked food and I haven't been disappointed in that. This place is somewhat kitschy and it's certainly a small town diner that you have been to, in about a dozen other places. The prices are about average, to which I think they're pretty cheap. I happen to love breakfast and don't eat enough of it, but I've been pretty happy with the service here overall. Service is good, the food is cooked and the place is accommodating. Also, for anyone who is a bit of a drinker, this would be a perfect place to go eat after a heavy night of drinking. Not that I'm endorsing anything negative, but for those nursing hangovers, this is a good place to visit.

Honestly the best scrambled eggs ever. It's a old time restaurant that has been around for years. Yes the decor is dated but if you want a good breakfast or cheeseburger go for it. Home made fries a plus. When I come here. I know I'm not in for a gourmet meal. Comfort at its best. Not fancy just comfort food. My waitress was an older woman who was very attentive. This place will go on forever

Service was good, but food was greasy and not that great. There are much better restaurants in the area.

Coffee - bad. Buttermilk Banana Pancakes - good. It's a large place so you hardly ever have to wait. They sell stuffed animals there if you have kids who like those kind of things, bring some extra cash. I'm a fan of "buttermilk" pancakes and they are hard to find, so we go here sometimes.

Kelly and I came to Butterfield's this past weekend for breakfast. We always try to go to a new place in the area if we can. Butterfields is located in a strip mall that also houses a Job Lot and a Dollar Store... maybe that should have been an indication on how our experience would be. When you walk in, you seat yourself. We took a seat to the side and waited for a waitress to come over, after 5 minutes the one that was working the counter in the front finally came back to help us (even though there was plenty of waitress standing around in the back). Kelly and I both ordered an omelet and Kelly order a side or of pancakes and I got a cinnamon and apple Belgium waffle. We waited for over 30 minutes before the waitress finally came over and said that the chef had attempted to make our omelet twice (it's really not that hard?!) in the oven (WHA?!!?) and that she was going to bring them out to see if we liked them. She brought out the food and these omelets look like they were microwaved. I took one bite and decided that they tasted horrible. Kelly's pancakes tasted okay, at best and my Apple and Cinnamon waffle was covered with so much apples that it was nearly inedible. The waitress was kind enough to take off the omelets but the bad taste (literally and figuratively) was already left in our mouths. I recommend that you stay fair away from Butterfields.

Prepare to step back in time when you come here. They've had the same decor since I was a little girl. Not much has changed about this place. They have an ice cream section with a bar you can sit at to eat. I've never actually ordered anything except the buttermilk pancakes, which are delicious. My husband loves the 3 x 3 x 3 which includes eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, and home fries. Good food for a good price, if you can get past the 1993 decor.

We went in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was DEAD. There were 50% more staff than customers and still the service was lousy. Most of the waitstaff were sitting around talking and using their phones, while an older server was the only one hustling around. I think that one lady's work ethic is the only thing Butterfield's has going for it. The decor is depressing and the retail stuffed animal display seems kind of sad and desperate. This place is a good candidate for one of those restaurant makeover shows! As for the food, I ordered blueberry pancakes, expecting pancakes with blueberries mixed into the batter and cooked. Nope. They were plain pancakes with a giant glob of canned mushy blueberries that weren't even drained so a copious amount of dark purple liquid sogged through the middle of the stack making one-third of my meal inedible. Who knew something as simple as pancakes could be done so wrong?!?

I sort of 1/2 agree with Ian here. I enjoy the food (breakfast only) i have not really had great luck with the lunch/dinner meals. Have mercy if you walk in there with some attire on that is not main stream or bland. These people who work there and hang out will crucify you with their eyes. I went in wearing a half shirt and tight capri pants and the whole place stopped nearly entirely and you could hear a pin drop. You would have thought i was topless!!! So all in all, its great for food but some of the workers are less than pleasant but some are great too. Hit or miss for sure!

I have eaten here many times. It is like stepping back in time as another reviewer stated; however, the decor has changed. There used to be a train decor and part of the restaurant was a step up from the rest of the place. Not big changes, but changes none the less. The look of the decor looks pre-1993. I've had breakfast to dinner there - from eggs to fish dishes. It's all be very good. There's a TV there, which I could do without. I think that when the restaurant changed hands, the new owner put in the TV,

On regular weekdays the food is ok.., typical breakfast place. I went there on a weekend and was seated at the counter. After being flat out ignored by a waiter who literally just sat there talking to another customer about basketball for close to 10 minutes, not being offered coffee, or even acknowledged by ANYONE, I just got up and left. I looked at what I guessed was the owner (an older man who had seated us) in the back and just kind of shrugged and said thanks for nothing and left. I don't think I'll be back after that.
