My fiance and I came here this past weekend for a cake tasting, as it is included in our wedding package. Would I have thought to order my cake from Montilio's if this wasn't the case? Probably not, but I am glad we did. We were given a book that includes pictures of different style cakes that are included in the package. If you wanted things like fondant, jewels, different shapes - that would be an upcharge. Our consultant explained everything in great detail and made the process extremely easy. I added things that were an upcharge - like four different shaped layers, fondant and scroll work on one of the layers. I even selected things that weren't shown on any packaged cakes - like a fondant looped "ribbon" with a broach (that I must supply) that weren't extra. The final cost for the upcharges?? Under $200! I'm still amazed that the vision in my head translated so perfectly on paper - and for such a great price. Now on to the cake. We tasted several different flavors and, surprisingly, I loved a lemon/orange marble cake with buttercream frosting and a gold cake drenched with grand marnier that had fresh strawberries and whipped cream in the layers. We added raspberry preserve to the lemon/orange cake (no upcharge). I tend to go for flavors that are more rich or have chocolate, but we knew the flavors we selected would be perfect for a summer wedding and a larger crowd, plus they were delicous! Not too sugary and exremely moist. I am so excited to see and taste the final product. So far, I can 100% reccomend them for their customer service and great prices.

I love this place. They have such a large selection of desserts and they're delicious! Also, the prices are great!

Wouldn't even give them a star. Ordered a two tiered specific cake for my great aunts 80th birthday during the week. Go to pick it up 2 hours before party, which is on a Sunday, no cake and no order. Seriously? No manager on site, finally staff gets her on the phone and they say let's see if it's still at our Brockton site...apparently that's where their bakery is. Nope, not there. Now manager says "we were trying to call you and couldn't get you. There was no payment on the cake so we didn't put the order in". Really? Really? So when we placed the order why didn't they tell us we had to pay for it then? We certainly would have! And yeah, trying to call? You have the right number and we never heard from you. Wouldn't you leave a voicemail if you were trying to call? Now they are, as I speak, sticking two cakes on top of each other and trying to make it look somewhat like the cake I wanted. The cakes are probably 3 day old cakes that have been in their fridge. Flavors not what I wanted either. I'm so angry right now. Never again. If you order a cake with them I would call them several times over to make sure it will be there for event. Update-the two girls working that day spent over 2 hours working on creating something close to what we wanted. Kudos to them. However shame on the manager who thought this was a good idea. Those girls worked their butts off while trying to take care of other customers coming through the door. My husband had to take the cake, unfinished to the party as we were now late!

We recently got married in April 2012. We had a package with the Hawthorne Hotel and Montillio's was our cake vendor. Based on that I can't really speak about the price, but whatever the price was it was worth it. We went to pick out our cake about 8 months before the wedding. We went to the Quincy location - you try the cakes right in the sitting area of the bakery, they don't have a separate cake tasting room or anything. First they showed us different types of cakes in this huge book - different styles and whatnot. Once we picked out what style cake we wanted, they brought out the different flavors. It was so awesome being able to try all the different cakes that they had - cakes, frostings, yum yum!! Since I'm a huge chocolate lover, we decided on the chocolate cake with chocolate truffle filling, white butter cream frosting. We had purple frosting flowers on the cake, including on top so I didn't have to worry about a cake topper! The cake looked beautiful and it was delicious. I'm looking forward to breaking out that top layer for our first anniversary! :)

Have only had the pastries here. My daughter says the cannolis are good. The fruit tart is yummy. The reason for the three stars is the lobster tails are chewy. The filling was delicious, but the pastry itself was terrible.

I love Montilios so it really saddens me to write this review. I have used them for every Birthday and my Wedding. This year when I called to order my Birthday cake I spoke with Jennifer who was so sweet on the phone. We discussed all the details. When I arrived to pick up my cake it wasn't even close to what I asked for. I was told their was nothing they could do because I was taking the cake. I don't know how someone made that cake based on what I asked for. I never even received an apology call. It was extremely disappointing.

I like this place. They baked my wedding cake less than a year ago and it was grrrrrrreat! Their baking skills are unsurpassed. Five stars on baking. Pizza. We usually love. Usually. However once we ordered on a Sunday afternoon and I don't know who was working but it was HORRIBLE. So bad we haven't order since even though it used to be our favorite pizza place. The garlic chicken pizza had so much garlic on it it was inedible and gave us headaches for the whole afternoon.

We used Montillios Bakery for our wedding cake and could not have been happier with the results! We had our tasting at their Braintree location and were blown away by their options, it was far better than the other bakeries we had tried. We ended up going with two flavors, the cannolli (amazing! never had cake like that before!) and the lemon/orange (so nice to have two very different choices for our guests). They sketched out the design for the cake right then and there, and were really knowledgeable and helpful. They coordinated directly with our venue to get the cake there on our big day, we didn't have to worry about a thing. When my husband and I made our entrance into the reception, the cake was off to the side of the dance floor and was one of the first things I saw - I was so happy with out it came out! It looked absolutely beautiful, and both flavors received rave reviews from all of the guests.

I'm usually not a harsh judge when it comes to bakeries. I LOVE CAKE! Its hard to make it anything but delicious. Montilios is beautiful and they do gorgeous work. They even did JFK and Jackie Kennedy's wedding cake. UNFORTUNATELY, I didn't love the cake. I couldn't even eat it actually, which I was utterly devastated about. I chose one that looked like vanilla or white cake with a strawberry on top. Hard to mess up, but they did it. It was lemon with strawberry syrup in it. Kinda gross. I specifically asked for the white cake, thinking it wouldn't be anything but vanilla. Maybe this was my fault, maybe it was because it wasn't labeled. Either way, the cake I had was syrupy and way too moist. I'm sad. I really wanted to love this place

Looks like they've spent a lot of money on a new website. However it is useless unless you know exactly what kind of cake youre looking for. I wanted to order a nice special occasion cake perhaps one with an interesting filling. I could not find a listing of cakes that they offer. I used to be able to see a listing of cakes with a description of each. After trying to find a description of cakes for twenty minutes I called. Got shifted to three people, who were all very nice, but it was clear that I had to know what kind of cake that I wanted to order. They should look at the Konditormeister website. Very user friendly. That is where I bought my cake. I like Montilios product and will come back if they fix the website.

We had our wedding cake made by Montilio's, because they were included in our reception package. The tasting was great-- they give you whole pieces of cake to try. We didn't know too specifically what we wanted, but they helped us design such a perfect cake. It not only looked beautiful but it tasted fantastic as well. Their cake is moist and not too sweet, and their frosting is delicious. (I love frosting... see my review for Party Favors...) We got a white cake with buttercream and fresh strawberry filling. We actually gave them a teeny tiny swatch of fabric from a bridesmaid's dress and they matched it perfectly to a ribbon they wrapped around the cake. People at our wedding couldn't stop taking pictures of the cake... it was gorgeous, so gorgeous that I wouldn't have changed a thing and I even had a tiny replica christmas ornament made. Bottom line... beautiful, delicious wedding cake, and I'd go back there any time.

I went in last year and bought assorted cookies, cupcakes and treats for a birthday party. My bf and I had to try 2 in the car and they were so stale! Then we touched the rest of the cookies and they were stale too. I believe the cakes were good/okay. Bummer! Be careful!

Montillio's (as well as one of their competitors) was suggested to us by our wedding venue. Neither my now husband nor I had ever tried anything from either vendor. We tried the competitor first and were not impressed. Then we went to Montillio's and were totally blown away by deliciousness. We tried 8 samples for our wedding cake and loved everything. It was hard to narrow it down but we went with two different flavors for the wedding cake and a third flavor for the cake topper. Leading up to the wedding we had a very easy time heading over to the bakery and dropping off the extras for the cake - the ribbon for the border and our cake topper. We were concerned that on the day of the wedding the cake would be dry or just taste different but wow, it was perfect! I tried both flavors and it was moist and delicious with flavorful, but not overpowering, frosting - exactly like it tasted in the bakery. As we walked around the room to chat with guests, we noticed all cake plates were totally clean, not a crumb left. We talk about Montillio's all the time and stop by when were are in the area. Everything we've had there is awesome, even the breakfast sandwiches!

I used to frequent Montilio's on a regular basis. I often got pizza for lunch and coffee; as well as cakes and slices of cake. The issue is, that the service is horrendously slow. There is usually 1 or 2 on the counter; inevitably one is on the phone while the other takes a ponderously long time to place an order. The last time I visited Montilio's, I was stopping in for some cake, I looked at the line and I saw how slow things were progressing, and I split. I now go across town, the place is comparable and has better customer service.

Samantha and her colleague at the Granite St. Location were exceptional in their knowledge of products. Both waited for me after close (past8pm) as I had to get a last minute bday cake for my sist who's in from NY. EXCELLENT!

I came her for a cake tasting and was surprised by how good the cake was. I'm a red velvet snob and surprisingly theirs was some of the best I'd had north of the Mason-Dixon. Also, their white cake with cannoli filling was excellent. I liked that they brushed espresso on the cake layers but that it wasn't overpowering the cannoli cream. The strawberry Grand Marnier cake was also really tasty. Their carrot cake left much to be desired as did their lemon marble cake. Their presidential white cake with raspberry was very plain. They had plenty of books with photos to peruse and the person who helped us wasn't pushy. Our quote for a square 4-tier cake to serve 100 people with an incredible amount of detailed decor was $700 including delivery. That's about $200 less than our first pick and is a larger cake. We're still debating what we want to do, but overall we were impressed with the quality of their cakes.

I've been coming here for years. Love this place and would recommend it everytime. The customer service is wonderful and friendly. They try and accommodate everyone young and old. I bought the champagne cupcakes and chocolate new years cupcakes. My daughters bought the cookies and the chocolate mousse. Definitely a stop everytime.

Finally got around to trying Montillio's pizza last weekend. It was very good but not as good as, say, Pizzeria Regina, but similar style. The crust is very thin, the cheese is good, but the sauce is a little overpowering with all the herbs they put in it. I guess I prefer a more simple sauce. I'd certainly go back because the price is reasonable and there really aren't many good pizza options in Quincy. 4 stars for pizza. We've tried the desserts many times, and they're usually very good but every now and then we'll get one that tastes like it's been sitting in the display case for a couple days too long. Good selection and yummy frosting! 3 stars for dessert since sometimes they are sold past their prime. One thing I do appreciate about Montillio's is that they have Richie's Slush, which is one of my favorite things in the summer. 5 stars for slush! I've heard mixed things about their wedding cakes, so when it came time to buy my wedding cake, we didn't even consider Montillio's bc we didn't want to take any chances.

Montilio's has really great food. The specialty cakes are delicious though priced a little high. The basic birthday cakes are quite good and priced well. One annoying thing is that nothing in the bakery section has prices on it so you either need to ask or just hope for the best at checkout. The staff often seem put-out if you ask the price of something and often do not know the price. This seems odd since one would think that they are selling a lot of cakes, etc. I do not mind spending money but its nice to be able to see the prices and be helped when not sure. Montillio's is great for cakes and worth trying. Fratelli's is also really good and much less expensive. They both are worth trying. I was very excited to see same-sex wedding cake toppings and this is one reason I will continue to support Montilio's!

Update: Pizza is still excellent. BUT their pastries, cookies, and cakes are stale more often than before. It's a vicious circle, and they are damaging their reputation and business to no end. The more people know they're willing to sell stale products, the more customers are reluctant to take a chance again and buy their cookies. I was more careful and asked to try a few items before buying. Full racks of cookies and pastries all stale! They don't want to take a loss and try to push their stale products off to suckers, but who is the real sucker in the end? Workers there aren't friendly either and with no pride in trying to do a good job. Ordered a coffee with cream. It was OBVIOUS after opening up the cover that there wasn't enough cream in the coffee, but the worker didn't want the bother of opening up another carton and try to get away with doing extra work. I had to go back up ask another worker for more cream and that worker handed me the empty carton of cream! Finally, I ask a third worker who was willing to open the fridge and pull out an unopen carton of cream. Yes, it's that ridiculous there! Thirty years ago, they were the best, they truly were with a legendary reputation and multiple shops on the South Shore. How lost they are now, with limited sense of pride and quality, so sad.

Montilio's I'm a little disappointed with you... not alot, but a little. I ordered 2 cakes from Montilio's for our wedding - a grooms cake for Friday nights festivities and the wedding cake for Saturday. The groom's cake was something we found in a magazine and the groom loved it. It was shaped like a tree stump and looked like it had initials carved into it with fall colored leaves around the bottom of it. Adorable! I gave them a picture of what we wanted when I ordered the cake and said I would supply the leaves. I live in Dallas so providing the leaves meant buying them and shipping them to Boston so my planner could drop them off for me with the cake topper and other items for the wedding cake. Imagine my surprise when I arrive at the party on Friday and the tree stump is completely bare! Where are the leaves that I went through all that trouble for? Not there, sadly. The cake was still cute and it was yummy, but I was saddened by the lack of attention to detail. While I was at my rehearsal dinner on Friday night I got a missed call from a Boston # that I was unfamiliar with so I called them back and it was Montilios so I figured I better check my voicemail. The message is from a women that barely speaks english and has asked me to call her back. I call back and no one answers. I call my planner and she has also heard from them and wasn't sure what their problem was but they apparently had some questions. I told her about returning their call and no one answering and she said she would take care of it. She must have because I never heard anything and the cake turned out mostly right. I wouldn't say perfect, but it was a pretty cake even if it wasn't exactly what I had requested (again with the picture being provided and still not getting what was in the picture). The flavors on the wedding cake weren't as close to the samples I had during my cake tasting as I would have liked either. The pumpkin seemed alot darker that it was at the tasting and I had hardly ANY chocolate chips in the cannoli cake (white with ricotta and chocolate chips) at the wedding whereas at the tasting there were plenty. Overall the cake was still delicious and the guests were happy with it, but I knew it wasn't right so that was kind of annoying. And don't' call a bride the night before the wedding because you have questions and then not answer when she calls you back. That's unnecessary stress.

I'm updating my prior review. I want to believe in you, Montilio's, but you have to get your act together as far as serving stale baked goods. I knew that it was a 50/50 shot getting fresh cookies whenever I offered to bring some for a bridal shower, but the girl said that they were fresh that morning, so I took a chance. That was the last chance I can give you. Those cookies were SO stale that I was embarrassed. And you should be too.

I ordered a birthday cake frm here. It was not what i ordered. they will not return my phone calls or refund me my money. I spent 300 bucks on a cake no one ate because it was chocolate and not the vanilla cake i ordered. never again will they get my money. Thinking about suing

We went there to order my cousin's 1st birthday cake. The cake was supposed to be shaped in a #1, pink frosting, a puppy figurine, fresh strawberries with pink/purple polka dots. We got NONE of the 5 things we agreed on when I picked it up (I even confirmed over the phone 24 hours before pick up)! Instead, we got a bland white sheet cake, small purple dog made out of frosting, tiny polka dots and strawberry jam on the inside. I found out that the original order taker overcharged us by $50!! (total was $95). After, 3 days of fighting with them...both over the phone and in-person. I couldn't get a refund out of them! Thanks ruining my cousin's birthday cake. FYI, this was my 4th custom cake from them. They clearly did not want my business. I hope this deters you from giving them business.

Whenever there's a party to go to or I'm having a chocolate craving I hit up Monitlio's. They have great cupcakes, cakes, cookies, muffins, pastries, you name it. I agree with a previous poster that it is really annoying that there are no prices listed... also there's no description or name of the pastry so sometimes you get something thinking it's vanilla and it'll end up being lemon. The space is a little crammed here and can get really cluttered with just two customers in there. A pleasant surprise for me was the pizza. It's really good! I've had trouble finding good pizza in Quincy but Montilio's is consistently tasty. My only complaint at Montilio's is that they don't have many seasonal items or cute, creative little cookies. Other bakeries have for instance, Red Sox cookies or Patriots cupcakes but you don't see that here.

Service and overall attitude of staff has greatly improved over the past couple of years. No more bad attitudes from bitchy college girls. The pizza quaility is still the same, if not better... hence upgrade to 5 stars. Good job Montillio's.

For my friend's bday, his wife purchased a cake from Montilio's. I had never heard of the bakery and being an amateur baker myself, it piqued my interest. It was a banana split cake, which sounds gross, but it was DELICIOUS! The chocolate cake inside was moist and the frosting was buttercreamy but not too sweet. I actually think the cake may be as good as if not better than those at Party Favors. The frosting is less sweet which I guess for some people may not be a good thing . . . even the men in the group and the people on diets raved about the cake and practically licked their plates clean. The filling was real fruit and just the right amount. My friend's wife has a birthday coming up soon too so I hope they get another cake from this bakery for her special day. :) So much for the New Year's resolution to cut back on sweets!!!

I'm really bummed I have to write this review. Montilio's and I have this major love affair together. But, I cannot let this one go. I went here a week ago when my Boyfriend was in the hospital. He was tired of hospital food. .So while he was asleep I snuck out and thought I'd bring him some cupcakes and some really good Montilio food!! I got some stuffed shells, two huge meatballs and 5 cupcakes! He was so excited upon waking up to have REAL food! He immediately ate a cupcake! We heated up the shells and they actually had a funky smell. We both ate one and the smell was just so horrendous we couldn't take it anymore.. We opened the shell and the cheese had gone bad. What a disappointment! So we figured we'd eat the cupcakes I asked them to pack in a box. ALL chocolate ones. We opened the box and they were vanilla. You've got to be kidding me. The whole surprise to make my boyfriend feel better..COMPLETE FAIL!!!!!! I called Montilio's to let them know to pull the shells off the shelf so no one would get sick fro the bad shells...they didn't even offer to give me a refund. I was so exhausted from going back and forth from the hospital it didn't even dawn on me to say something. I'll still go to Montilio's it's my favorite bakery..I'm just definitely disappointed in my encounter with them..

Came in tonight 7/18 to buy a cake and decided to also order a couple sandwiches and a pizza. We sat at a table and waited over 45 min (we were the only ones in the place) finally we asked about our order. It had been sitting in the back most of the time. Pizza was lukewarm at best. Staff takes no ownership or pride, we barely got an apology. Staff spent more time talking and laughing with each other than working with customers. Service is bad, attitudes are worse - no idea how my pizza would have tasted if it was hot - but it was horrible cold....first time and last time we will be here ....staff needs to take responsibility...

I want to love this bakery since it's so close to my house. More often than not, I'm finding myself in a jam and needing a last minute cake or dessert to bring to a get together. The service is always courteous and they do their best to help with suggestions. However, at the end of the day, it's about the product. In my case, it's the cakes. So far, I've bought the carrot, red velvet and the half/half (half chocolate and half white) cakes. All 3 times, the unanimous feedback was that it's just wayyyy too sweet. Almost like putting tablespoons of sugar in your mouth. If you are really into sweet desserts, this place could work for you but each time I'm in a bind and I buy a cake, I remember why I only come here once a year when I'm already late and disgraced if I go somewhere empty handed :P

Amazing, simply amazing. Super soft, chewy gooey, center cookies that compelled me to buy them by the dozens!! And an amazing selection of food. Best pizza is the fresco and the best sandwich is the classic italian, could eat there everyday. The cupcakes and cake are always moist and delicious! Love it, want it, need it, crave it!

I usually like this place. I don't absolutely love it, but it's sort-of kind-of on the way home from work, and neat enough to warrant a stop once in a while. I usually get some cookies, pastries, maybe a slice of breakfast pizza. Doesn't need to be crazy artisanal fou-fou. It's just mad decent. All is well. Today however, I decide to get some bread. Upon entering, I notice there's cold deli stuff, pasta, and the like, stocked in the refrigerated display case. There are some huge breaded dumpling-spheres labelled with different fillings, like Chicken and Bacon and Mac and Cheese. They're called Arancini - stuffed fried rice balls. A non-Asian rice ball? I'm intrigued. I grab two Arancinis, a couple of turnovers, and a loaf of sliced white bread - passing over a baguette that could've been crustier. Then I head home. I know the turnovers are good and bread is solid, going to have some legit grill cheeses for the rest of the week, but I have to try these Italian rice balls. I'm going to step back for a moment. I want to say that I'm a big fan of hand held food. Not just sandwhiches like banh mi, bacon butties, and ploughmans. I'm talking meat pies, empanadas, curry doughnuts, onigiri, meat pasties, coxinhas, beef patties, char siu baos. Learning that there was a new handheld food from Italian cuisine that I had yet to try, that almost made my goddamn day. I toss one into the oven for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees, figuring that should be sufficient. Then, 'cause that shit was hot, I dug in using a fork and knife as opposed to taking a hale and hearty hamfisted bite. It was a Chicken and Bacon Arancini. I work my way inwards, cautious but exploratory. The outside was golden and crisp, and the inside was an almost glutinous and sticky yellow rice. And the filling was chopped chicken and bacon - sour and pungent. Tongue numbingly tangy and gross. Blech. I push it aside, get something to drink. Slosh my mouth. Stare at the arancini. This can't be right. I got you from a respectable establishment. You can't be *bad*. Maybe I just don't understand you. Maybe *I'm* the problem. I nervously call the bakery. A girl answers. I think she's the one who sold me the arancinis. I just ask a single question. "Do you make your arancini's.... with vinegar?" The reply was no. I hang up. I throw away the Chicken and Bacon Arancini. I check the other one, Meat-filled, and it too smells like death. Into the trash as well. Standing at the garbage can, afraid and powerless at what will become of my guts after being tainted by spoiled food, I did the only thing I could think of. To hastily write a bad Yelp review. TLDR; Montilio's. I've heard people rave about your cakes, and your wedding cakes, and I enjoy your pastries and sweets, although your bread could be better. However, you've done wrong by me this time, and in a bad bad way. First time I've ever been sold food that's been rotten. SCORE: 2.0 of 5.0, after averaging their usual 4-star performance with this 0-star traumatic experience.

I just got a cake for my parents' 50th anniversary. I stuck to a basic yellow cake. It was a two tier cake and very pretty. The cake was very good and I would recommend it. I was perfectly satisfied with the customer service as well. I picked up my cake in Quincy this morning and got a coffee for myself and a croissant and donut for my daughters. The women working were friendly and whoever took my order last week was also friendly. I saw some other reviews complaining about service but I didn't have any problems. Granted I have only this one experience with them.

The staff here makes the experience great. Everytime I come here I am greeted instantly and am helped once I'm ready to order. Multiple times I have veen greeted and checked up on by more than one staff member. They're great at making recommendations and I have yet to be disappointed. Everything I have tried here is great. My current favorite dessert is the triple chocolate mousse cup. Pizza is great too here but keep in mind that they do get really busy! I came in to get a cake tonight and the phones were ringing non stop and multiple people ordered in store too. Even though the store is usually busy when I go I am never waiting long and the staff never gives off an attitude. I will definitely continue coming here.

RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. The baked goods are good, but to justify these prices these would have to be the best cakes in the history of cakes, for which people would drive from North Adams just to get one, and such is not the case.

Montilios was the required vendor for cakes for our wedding. Since we planned our Cape Cod wedding from Virginia we were unable to do a tasting but we weren't disappointed. We couldn't decide on a flavor so we went with 5 different cakes (we're lovers of baked goods). They were all amazing: lemon, Nutella, red velvet...even the plain white on white was moist and delicious! I highly recommend for wedding cakes.

Solid recommendation for you bro-seph: The pizza is very good here. Also, the Whoopie Pies should be served at UN meetings. They might inspire World Peace. Whoa. That's a strong statement. How about household peace?

If I were reviewing just on baked goods, cleanliness and staff, I would give four stars, but we ordered pizza based on others' reviews. Also based on others' reviews, we had them repeat the order (one very basic pizza) twice. My husband went to pick it up and called me a few minutes later, saying they made it wrong, so he had to wait another twenty minutes for a new one. They did give us the wrong pizza, too, but neither was that tasty. The sauce was bland and cheese rubbery. Excellent crust, though. I'll still stop by for baked goods...if I am in the area, but no more pizza from there.

We loved your birthday cakes and specially TiramiSu.. still Tiramisu I don't find what I ate in Italy but still your tiramisu is better than others. Your veggie slices are amazing taste... delicious coockies... - Himanshu Patel

When they get your order right (less than half the time) the pizza is better than Reginas Pizza. As a former North End and Charlestown resident and Regina's regular...I know this to be true. If you live in the area, don't waste your money on all of the other options in Quincy, Braintree or Milton. If they don't deliver to you, then pick it up. It's that good. Just make them repeat your order - twice.

Montillio's was the required cake vendor for my venue, but I am so glad it was! From the tasting to the cake itself, my wife and I got everything we wanted. They were running behind on the tasting, yet we weren't ignored; they offered us complimentary coffee drinks while we waited. Frank, who worked with us, didn't rush us through the tasting portion, and was thoughtful, conscientious and non-pushy as we planned out the details. That he left us to our own devices to do the actual tasting was nice; we were able to sample and pick to our hearts' content. Montilio's doesn't mess around with the tasting either--we were provided 8 of their most common flavor combinations! In fact, we couldn't finish all of the cakes because we got so full. I do wish they provided descriptions because we didn't quite remember each combination as we were trying them. I would also like a MUCH different layout for their flavor list; I was semi-confused about some of the flavor options and which ones were classified as "premium" or not. The cake they wade was GORGEOUS--for the hard-sell Frank gave us to have a hand-drawn peacock feather design, it better have been amazing! My guests were crazy-impressed, AND they thought the cake was delicious. I don't know about you, but I have never had a delicious wedding cake in my life--one was good, but most range between okay and crap. The cake Montilio's made was moist and tasty. My guests all agree, more than a few have complimented how good the cake was. Montilio's isn't cheap, but what you are paying for is worth it--they are famous for a reason.

It's finally happened after many years ,I'm Giving up on all baked goods from here, been going for years, and each time I'm disappointed. But convince myself otherwise because I want it to be my local bakery, love to shop small , but tonight was the last straw, bough 6 mini pastries from the Braintree location , key lime was set aside as my treat! One bite and had to spit it out!! Really !!a pastry so bad could not eat it!! Did not think that was possible ! Quincy staff are hit or miss, (my usual location)some them will go above and beyond to accommodate. For a neighborhood bakery, I never feel like a familiar face in there, not expecting them to hang banners and ring bells but a simple hey " your back for another Bismarck ". Disappointed that I'd now rather go to local supermarket for our cakes ,

This is my go-to place for my weekend dessert treats! My faves...strawberry whipped cream cake, banana split cake, Alpine chocolate cake, champagne cookies. Pizza and calzones are delicious too! Pizzas are NYC style, thin crust.

I have worked down the street from Montilio's for 6 years and have stopped there a couple of times for cakes or pies on a Friday night, but never thought of going there for lunch until a co-worker told me how great their pizza is. I went there today for a veggie calzone and was blown away by how good it was. The veggies were still crunchy and complemented perfectly by the ricotta cheese and a warm, crusty dough. The menu says a "small" feeds 2, but I think it would feed at least 3 or maybe 4 people. Moreover, as I waited for my calzone the manager asked if I'd ever tried their pizza. I said no, and she packaged up a full slice with my calzone so I could try it! (It was fantastic.) I'll be back for lunch again soon.

Yep, best pizza EVER. I am scared to order it any more, because I can eat a whole 14 inch pie over the course of an evening. The deliciousness cannot compare to any other pizza in Quincy. Salads are fresh, and I always get mine with tuna, and the runa salad is never fishy or bony, and an extra dressing is supposed to be 75 cents, but they have never charged me. I am here three times a week. Also, the chocolate fudge cupcake is AWESOME. That being said, the muffins and blueberry bread... not so much. But keep on truckin' with the pizza, and also, the most amazing Italian sandwich, and the freshest of fresh salads. EXCELLENT.

Update - In all fairness I did finally get an email from George Montilio. He apologized for his store's service and refunded both the cost of the cake and what we payed for replacement cupcakes at the last minute. And he promised to address the matter with his staff. The cakes ARE yummy. I might stop in and pick up something if I'm in the area, but I'm not sure I would take a chance with ordering from them again.

Reading some of the reviews. I have come to the conclusion that's not only me. Don't get me wrong There pizza is amazing. But. The past 4 years I occasionally stop by to get there pastries. Keep in mind there not cheap either. A small piece starts at $4 dollars. They are old and never fresh and always get pissed off spending the money I do and get shit for product. This is not one time. It's all the time. I have never had a piece of pastry there and say. Wow!!!! Never....Sometimes even suffer a stomach ache . I will never buy another piece of pastry from there locations again. I recommend that you should date your pastries and dispose of them 2 days later. People are paying for your name, quality and a fresh pastry . And paying a good price for it to. Live up to your name. It's an embarrassment. What a waste of money. Let me add. I just barfed... 20 minutes after posting my initial review.

I had a great experience with montilio's. I stopped by one morning to put in an order for a cake for my GF's BDay. I Talked with Jenna Who is the store Manager and the owners daughter. That day I ended up leaving with an iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich YUMZ! Picked the cake up on a Friday night for the surprise party and couldn't help but leave with a piece of pizza DOUBLE YUMZ! Upon arriving into the bar area we rented, the hostess who took the cake from me sees the box and says "I love Montilio's cake". Unfortunately I never tried the cake myself because I'm jacked and don't eat desert but my GF loved it. Will definitely use them again in the future.

So, against the advice of fellow Yelpers, I enlisted Montilio's help in creating a fancy cake for my mom's surprise birthday party. It's hard to say whether I would use them again or not. Normally, I am an end-results kind of person which would suggest that I would reuse Montilio's. Our cake was very pretty (perhaps with some minor alterations to our order) and everyone said it was tasty. However, dealing with Montilio's personnel is pretty much a nightmare. I don't say this as an exaggeration. There were two employees, both named Jen, one in Quincy and one in Brockton, who were very nice. The others that I spoke to on the phone or in person were generally gruff, impatient, and fairly incompetent. Without getting too far into the details, I will note that all of the inconveniences of dealing with Montilio's (not having my order, being confused about details of the order, etc) would have been alleviated by simply having a computer system. I placed the order in Quincy, but I think since it was a two-tier cake, it was made in Brockton. Now, I could care less where they make it, but it should be seamless to me. I shouldn't be calling multiple places, talking to multiple people and have them all be confused. I called to confirm everything the day before delivery and they were *still* confused even though I had talked to them on two other occasions to clear up the details. My delivery was also a little later than it was scheduled to have been (still in time though). I wouldn't have cared except that it added to the overall impression that they don't have their sh** together.

Three weeks ago I called to make a wedding cake testing appointment. The girl who I spoke with transferred me to the Brockton store, but failed to mention they were closed at that time. A week later, I called the Brocton store to make an appointment and a woman answered saying that she needed to take my number and would call me back to make an appointment. She never called. I called again a THIRD time asking for a manager, to which three different people came on the phone trying to avoid my getting in touch with a manager. The third person finally said the manager was away on vacation for two weeks. The most frustrating appointment set-up experiences of my wedding planning. I can't imagine they would be organized on an actual wedding day.

In a word - YUM! Montillio's did our wedding cake & pastries for the desserts bar this summer and it exceeded all expectations. It was love at first taste when I tried one of their cakes at a Bridal Show. They were wonderful to work with and we honestly had a hard time narrowing down the flavors because there were so many delicious ones! We ended up going with a small 3 tier yellow cake with fresh strawberries and buttercream frosting. They really were able to work with us to stay within our budget, which helped. If you have ever planned a wedding, you will know that not many vendors want you to stick to your budget! They delivered the cake & desserts (cannolis, cream puffs, eclairs, and fruit tarts) early in the morning. This was great because I wasn't stressed about the cake being delivered late. It was beautifuly designed, just like the picture we requested and it was delicious. We hardly had any leftovers! They also gave us this really cute box to put the top tier of the cake in so that we could freeze it. Overall, I was very happy with the service and felt that they were very professional and make a great product.

We used Montilio's for our recent wedding cake, and we loved it. While I went into our tasting with every intention of having a chocolate cake because that's my favorite, we ended up going with the "cassatta" (sp). Hands-down, it was both my husband's and my favorite of the various ones we tasted. A white cake with a filling made of ricotta cheese and chocolate chips (of course I had some chocolate!), and glazed with espresso. Our guests raved about it. The cake also looked beautiful. The designer called me a couple days before to go over the decorations and make some suggestions, which I really appreciated.

My family has gone to Montillio's for years for our birthday, anniversary, and graduation cakes, as well as for other bakery items. Their cakes usually taste great and look beautiful!. I personally favor their lighter, sweeter style over Konditor Meister's creamier, heavier cakes. More recently, however, I have had bad experiences with Montillio's. Several years ago a cake I ordered wasn't in at the time of day I specified (if you don't know, their cakes are baked at their non-retail location in Brockton, MA). Last year when we went to pick up the large sheet cake we ordered for my graduation, we were surprised when it was given to us in an uncovered cardboard-slab box. Keep in mind this was in June, so by the time it was served later in the day, it was very sweaty from the humidity. The final blow was probably this past spring when they completely "lost" the birthday cake my mom ordered for me. To compensate they gave her another cake they had in store. It obviously hadn't been baked that day and didn't taste good at all. Due to the fact that I now live over a half hour away, I probably won't go back to Montilio's any time soon.

I am addicted to Montilio's goods. So far I've tried their cupcakes, breads, cakes, pies, and chicken wings. Unbelievable quality! One small exception on their chicken wings, I ordered the garlic/olive oil type and they were oil soaked. Taste was all there though. I am happily giving them 5-star rating, including their friendly service. I am a happy client for life.

Montilio's was highly recommended through Tewksbury Country Club for our wedding cake. They did our cake tasting when it was convenient for us, and they followed up quickly to emails. The cake was delivered on time and it looked fabulous and tasted amazing. I would recommend Montilio's to anyone!

Ordered delivery from here, and after two hours I got a cold pizza. They forgot other things that I ordered, and tried to chase down the delivery guy, who drove off after seeing us trying to wave us down. Won't be ordering from here again.

Went to order food the other day and wanted to try something new so I got a pizza from here. Best decision I made all day, it was incredible everything from the sauce an crust to it being loaded with toppings hit the spot. I know I'll be ordering again an highly recommend it. Also tried the cheesecake shortly after and was the best I've ever had.

I love Montillio's Bakery and I was extremely impressed by the engagement cake they created for me and my Fiance. Jenna the manger was fabulous at assisting us with designing it and giving certain recommendations for example the coloring of letters. The Cake was 2 layers with plaid ribbon around the bottom. The top had plaid ribbon with a bow and it was chocolate with white buttercream frosting and fondant. The cake was beautiful and exactly what I envisioned. It was a hit at our party and it tasted so good. They cake was moist the frosting was to die for. Thank you Jenna and Montillio's for an amazing Engagement Cake!!!

Im writing this as I am still upset about my order that I picked up tonight. First I want to say that I have been ordering my cakes from here for years and even recommended this bakery to fiends and family members. I ordered a birthday cake and when I went to pick it up today its not what I expected. I was told to bring in my own cake decorations since they told me they did not have the gold for the cake then when I came in to see how it looked I found out that they ddnt use any of the overpriced decorations they made me go by since they did not have them. The manager a short girl maybe 5'2 with dark hair is there mostly in the evenings was so rude and I did not like her attitude when I told her that was not what I wanted. I still had t pay for something I was unsatisfied with. I feel like me as a loyal customer should have received at least an apology or some of my money back. I will make sure I tell my friends not to come here anymore. Some Birthday huh! oh and not to mention they spelled the name wrong on the cake as well! smh

Came here for a wedding cake tasting; the owner himself seems to see every couple during this process, which I thought was really nice and personable. He also showed us binders with sample cake designs he had. I thought this place had the most unique of flavors (i.e., the cake itself also had flavors, such as orange cake with lemon filling). They also had fun shape designs, like you could have hexagon or round or square tiers. Came here one other time for some desserts one evening, but they didnt seem as memorable, but would def come back and try them again though.

My husband and I were excited that they now serve sandwiches, because we're having trouble finding a good Italian sub nearby. Their Italian sandwich was all out nasty! It was on a weird ciabatta(?) roll, which tasted stale, and the meat was gross! The salami was old, and the other meats seemed so, too. That's all you get on the sandiwich, just old meat. And it wasn't cheap, either. Never Again!

We tasted some cupcakes and cookies from Montilio's for a work holiday party. We LOVED them. Both the cupcakes and the cookies were the hands-down favorite in flavor. However, their decorating was a bit lackluster. The cupcakes looked a bit sad and the cookies just had colored sugar sprinkled on them (which, don't get me wrong, I enjoy. But next to the other companies, they didn't compare). Flavor-wise, Montilio's has it in the bag. They just need to work on kicking the decorating of their everyday cupcakes and cookies up a notch, from what I saw.

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from here. We went for a tasting and were so glad we did because they were very helpful in talking us through pricing, and we decided on lemon and orange marble cake which we never would have thought was sooooo delicious! We had a different flavor for each tier. There were three tiers, and we had a presidential for our top tier which is like white cake with rasberry and frosting filling, then the middle tier was "the best carrot cake my husband has ever tasted", and the last biggest tier was the orange and lemon marble cake. They put every little detail we wanted down to the ribbon I brought in special. And our cake toppers were made from etsy and were very dear to our hearts, and they took great care of them and had the cake of our dreams on our wedding day. My husband is still drooling. :) Great price, great quality.

We first "dealt" with Montillio's when our wedding venue had the option of Kondietermeister or Montillio's for our cake. Montillo's never called us back, despite numerous attempts. Doesn't reflect well upon their customer service or care. If you're in doubt, stop here, and go to Kondietermeister in Braintree- we received excellent service and a phenomenal product. Our recent experience here only enforces we chose the right bakery! One rainy December day, we were in the mood for cupcakes. Having tried Babycakes and were Meh about them, we'd thought we give Montillio's a second chance. I went in around 5 and was greeted with a lackluster selection. They had larger, "normal" sized cupcakes and little baby ones (of which they forced you to buy at least three). I got several small ones, and normal sized one. The cupcakes were completely dried out and tasteless. The frosting on the tiny red velvet was rock hard and the cake tasted like sand in a cupcake wrapper. If it wasn't pouring raining, I would have returned them - they were over ten dollars. Instead, we threw them in the garbage as they were totally inedible. Shame on you, Montillio's, for allowing such poor quality product to be sold in your stores. Maybe they'll return our numerous messages to set up a cake tasting from last year and change our minds. For now, good riddance!

O M G.. anything that is called "Banana split Cake" should be a sin! Pure Sin!! When I step into this bakery, it's the first thing I look for. Walk past the warm gigantic cookies, the loafs of bread just staring at me, and I go straight for the cake! Gimeee cake now! After I've had my cake securely wrapped up in box for me to take home cause God forbid I have anyone watch me eat this sinful thing. Trust me, it's not a sight to see..it's pretty much me just stuffing it down my throat. I can calmly walk over to breads that are literally screaming at me to buy and get a few loafs. How can I say no to a soft huge loaf of Italian bread. It's would be wrong! Yes.. there are so many great things I can say about Montilio's. How can you not!? They sell bread, muffins, danishes, cupcakes, cake slices, and PIZZAAAAAA! Yes I said it, Pizzaaa!! And Yummy pizza at that. Don't fool yourself.. go NOW! RUN IF YOU HAVE TO! Get yourself the banana split cake and you won't be sorry!

Calzone was 50% dough. The taste was good but there was not enough filling. The service was also a bit lacking. Between the behind the counter banter. Girl coughed on hand and did not wash her hands before getting our pastries. It was disappointing.

Awesome homemade pizza! They sell a few flavors by the slice, which is nice so you don't have to wait around for it to be cooked. I went on 3/16/13 & everything was geared towards St. Paddys Day. Prices are high(cupcakes were $2.50 each). I ordered a slice of pizza, a shortbread shamrock, & a small half moon, it was about $8.75....

I made several purchases at Montillio's before and their cake and pastry always taste good. However, I always felt rush by the girls working behind the counter even when I was the only customer and they weren't busy. I went to order a custom baby shower cake last Sunday. The girl who took my order never bother to tell me the flavors available and just push me into order chocolate cake. She wasn't able to give me pricing of the cake based on the design and said the manager will call me back the next day, but that never happened. I call 3 days later to confirm my order, and the girl who answered phone call couldn't locate my order form. She said the manger will call me back in an hour but didn't bother to take down my phone number and hung up on me. Great cake, just poor customer service. I would only buy from them for readily available items. But will not bother with custom orders in future to risk not getting a cake for special occasions when there are so many other cake shops to choose from in the area.

I'm a big pizza fan. Theirs is very good. Although lately it seems to be more salty than it used to be. Please, less salt. The manager is extremely customer-focused. She takes the responsibility very seriously and works very hard to make sure customers are happy.

I've tasted their Wedding Cake at recet bridal shows and it seems that the cakes (Strawberry Shortcake OMG) keeps getting better and better. Cant wait to have my cake done here. The two woman that were at the tastings were so nice and pleasant!! They are GEMS to speak with. The customer service is nerve racking to deal with them esp for a special occassion. I cant even begin to to tell you the conflicts. Customer Service is not their best point. I wish I would have known about their reputation cause after I spoke with others I was told to go else where. Too Late now. Never again. They dont explain anything to you and do what they think is best for you and then youre back at the beginning. Thank you

I want too love their pizza. It's so hit or miss. I keep on ordering. Pickup or delivery I feel like every other or every third pizza is amazing. The others are lackluster, greasy, or the ingredients are not evenly spread across the pizza leading to its greasiness. The people making the pizza should all be trained in what "great" looks like. It came to a head today when I got what looked like processed chicken on my pizza and not grilled. Two thumbs down for that.

Pizza and desserts are really good, but the service is atrocious. Today was the second time this month they messed up my order. First time, they forgot my Salad... Today when I went to pick up, the whole order wasn't put it, and they didn't do anything to make up for their mistake... Staff needs more training and accountability.

I went here once to pick up a dessert for a holiday dinner. There were so many cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and pies to choose from that it was hard to decide. Until I saw the Hawaiian Eye. It is a big flaky pastry with custard, cherries, blueberries, and strawberries inside. It was delicious, and it received a lot of compliments at the party! I'll definitely be back for that in the future. :D And, just a tip, if you're going to pick up something sweet on a holiday weekend, go early in the morning. It can get crowded, and the good stuff tends to sell out fast.

At Montilio's they're in the business of trading delicious fruit covered custard tarts for little pieces of green paper. I won't be able to sleep at night ripping them off this bad, but at least I won't be hungry!! Muahahaha!!!

I gave 3 stars because they sell stale cupcakes, whoopie pies and a cake I bought for a friend at works bday was not 100% fresh. If you order something special it is always fresh and delicious but beware if you buy out of the case. The pizza is awesome. It's my favorite!

Great pastry shop...cupcakes, cannolis, eclairs, etc...I tried the pizza once and didn't care for it...the sauce wasn't good. I love to go here for all baked goods and especially their ricotta pie. Usually, we have to order it ahead of time...their ricotta pie rivals any that you'd find in Boston's North End.

review for Wedding cakes, not pizza i had a very unpleasant experience with this place as the cake vendor for my wedding in April 09. we were suggested Monillio's from our caterer, and figured sure. we found a picture of a cake in a magazine that we loved so we brought it with us when we went for the tasting. the tasting went great. they gave a price that included the application of the flowers in the picture that i said i would supply. they say i would get a bill for this about a month before the wedding, and i could send the flowers with my payment (they were going to the be the same silk flowers i was using for my centerpeices.) 2 weeks before my wedding i realized i never heard from them. i called to inquire about the invoice and the person on the phone acted as if it were my fault that they did not yet send me an invoice. whatever, so i gave my payment, send the flowers. i walk into the reception after my beautiful church wedding, and not only is the cake the wrong color, not only is it not decorated anything like the picture i had given them, it was melting. it was running and clumping on the sides, all over. my phogorapher couldn't get one decent shot of it. everyone noticed, it was so embarrassing. my mother contacted George Monitillio directly, along with the caterer regarding this issue. George said it was the caterers fault and that they would talk amoungst themselves and get back to her. after MANY MANY emails back and forth, George promised my mom a refund of about 2/3 of what the cake cost. fine. then he never sent it. after many more emails with George, we got the check. so here i am, 3 months after my wedding, just now depositing this check. the only reason i didn't give 1 star, is the actual cake, was delish. moral of the story: go somewhere else for your wedding cake.

I used Montilio's for my wedding cake. The tasting - the cakes were better than any other place we had tried and they were much more personal than some other wedding cake bakeries that I won't name. The cake that we picked tasted exactly like the wedding cake they delivered and everyone said it was one of the best wedding cakes they had ever had. (We went with white cake brushed in coffee with a ricotta and chocolate chip filling). Hands down probably the best cake I have ever had. They delivered exactly what I asked for. If I lived in Mass, I would buy cakes from them for every special occasion.

The 4 stars specifically is for the pizza. Decent thin crust is rare in quincy, although Villa Rosa makes a similar pizza right down the street. Between the 2, Montilio's is my preference but both are good. The crust is chewy and delicious, the sauce is distinct and nice, and the cheese they use is reallly tasty. I tend to stick to more common toppings as this place doesn't do a huge pizza business so freshness can be an issue with the more exotic toppings that people don't order as often. Prices are okay, they used to be dirt cheap but they increased sharply after they rebuilt the place a few years ago. They advertise delivery, but I don't know if actually do deliver. Also, again because it's a small place, pizzas usually take 20-45 minutes to make, so if you ordered delivery you could be waiting an hour for one pizza. call and pick-up, thats the best bet, They do sell slices from lunchtime until shortly before closing. This is primarily a bakery, not a pizza place, so they do shut the pizza ovens down before the store closes to give them time to clean up. Try to order your pizza no later than 45 minutes before closing to make sure the ovens are still on and to give yourself time to come pick it up. It's a neighborhood place, deal with the quirks and enjoy your pizza. I also like their coffee; it's not the tastiest brew ever but it's plenty strong, which makes it better than dunkin donuts in my book. I don't drink flavored coffees but they have a bunch of choices. The sweet stuff is great when it's fresh; come on the weekends for the freshest product. Everything is baked in the Brockton location and they bring in some fresh stuff daily but on slow days some things might have been there a while. The service is hit or miss since they mostly employ teenagers, but i've never had a problem with any of them.

I bought a carrot cake here and it was delicious. They have so many items to choose from I was bewildered. The breads looked particularly delicious and I have to go back some day to try the pizza. I think $27 for a carrot cake maybe priced way too much. The two ladies working also seemed very disinterested. Perhaps this is because I showed up just after they opened for the day. They still deserve a second chance.

Montilio's is one of 3 bakeries whose cakes are included in our wedding package. We tasted all 3 to compare. We decided to go with another bakery for the wedding, but here's my take on our tasting: Pros: * They were very nice! The woman who worked with us very sweet and very helpful. She went over how we wanted our cake to look and drew up a detailed picture for them to follow. * One of their cake flavors was really good: it was like ricotta filling with little chocolate chips, delicious! Cons: * It was *extremely* hard to get an appointment for the tasting. I called multiple times, got put on hold, hung up on and sent to voicemail (who then never returned my multiple phone messages). It took me weeks of calling before I got through to someone who could actually book an appt. After this trouble, I didn't really trust them to be reliable for our wedding, however we wanted to taste their cake anyway since I'd heard good things about it. * We didn't like their cake. We thought it was heavy and too sugary. * They charge extra for "premium" flavors including Strawberry Grand Marnier (which was not extra at the other 2 bakeries). The only cake I liked (the ricotta filling) was also extra. I know a lot of people like Montilio's but I think their major competitor's cake is better.

We used Montilio's for our wedding cupcakes. The cupcakes were AMAZING- a couple months later people are still talk about them but I could not have been more disappointed in their service. We had to make a deposit for a tray which we were told would be refunded to us after the tray was returned after the wedding. Well, after I wrote three separate emails and made countless phone calls I finally got the deposit back. I am sure if I never contacted them I would have never gotten the refund. At one point I had to remind them they signed a contract! Terrible terrible customer service and definitely reason enough for me to never go back.

So many options to choose from the baked goods! The cupcakes are always decorative and filling. The chocolate ones our always super moist and soft! Have tried some of the little cakes too...carrot cake, tiramisu, etc. The blueberry pound cake is also very heavenly!!! I absolutely love their pizza...thin crust, generous toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. I think it's the best pizza!!! It's a must try!!!

Yum, Yum!!! Everything Montilio's makes tastes amazing. My latest purchase was a chocolate cream pie for Easter. Good Lord, I nearly made myself sick because I couldn't stop eating it. The frosting & whipped cream have an incredible taste. I'm not much of a cake person, but the cake is so moist & authentic frosting is to die for.

Never been there - but saw them at an off-site holiday booth they set-up to sell their treats. OMG - Barvian Cream!!!!!!!!! YUM. Maybe I will visit their store in Quincy someday when I am feeling adventurous. The cake I had was amazing. Flakey pastry filled with bavarian cream and fruit, powered sugar on top - beautful and delicious!

This place has such a history and reputation, I was really excited to try it. It looks very impressive when you walk in; beautiul pastries and goodies as far as you can see. Unfortunately, I think they concentrate more on decoration than taste. This further confirms my theory that any bakery that offers cake decorating is not a good bakery for foodies. To my surprise, the pizza and calzone are really good, which is strange since it seems like sort of a side business in the back.

Drooool. Now we're talking! George, the owner, met with us himself to discuss our wedding cake. I really wanted to try the red velvet cake, and they didn't have any made that day. So, he made me a full 6 inch red velvet cake with white chocolate frosting and fresh raspberries and delivered it to my work! For free! The day before Valentines Day!! I was seriously impressed. Every time I called, someone was available to help me right away. And, in the end, our cake was awesome and SO TASTY!!

i curse the person who showed me this place! i DARE you to walk in and NOT get something. i was completely overwhelmed with the sugary deliciousness that was displayed everywhere i looked. plenty of cake, cupcake, cookie, pastry, bread, etc options. sampled too many things then i'd like to share... they were ALL delicious though. prices are pretty reasonable, and i'll definitely be going back.

I am not much of a cake person but we needed one for our large wedding. I wasn't thrilled with the tasting so I was putting it off. Our wedding coordinator suggested I pick one from the Montilio's book and just go with it. With her guidance, I choose one similar to the picture that had lemon cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. It had 4 square tiers, with aubergine ribbon (to match my colors), polka dots and a floral top. In my very grand room, the cake made a statement. I am really hard to please and I have to admit it looked and tasted great!

Half my life in NY and half in Boston. Pizza is good by Boston standards, but more likely just for slice, stopping by. They're very stingy with toppings, but then again, they don't charge much for them either. I don't know, the pizza I have had there always seems to be lacking something. It's thin crust like home, but just missing something. I'd order a full pie down the street from Villa Rosa instead. Better stuff. Cup cakes are good, the cakes are okay, never tried the pies or other items. The coffee is so-so. For some reason, they put the fresh-baked bread down near the floor, but is unappetizing and a drag because I'd love to have a local place to get a fresh loaf for dinner.

Was referred to this place by an elderly woman near Fruit Center Marketplace when I was looking for baked goods. They have good, moist and rich chocolate cake. The tiramisu was a bit dry and did not have much flavor. It was pretty busy when I came in and seems like a nice place to sit down. They sold a variety of things from pastries to pizza to gelato.

Montilios is a wonderful dessert, bread, pizza shop! We ordered our daughter's wedding cake from them back in October '08 and BOTH cakes were great and exactly what we ordered. Judy worked with us and she was not pushy but listened to everything we said. The one cake, the kitchen cake, not the main cake displayed at the reception, was wonderful and even those with egg allergies could eat it bc it was made without the yolks - something good for many people - and DELICIOUS!! The wedding cake was yummy, gorgeous, and just the correct amount. They worked with our florist and the top done in fresh flowers was perfect. I go in Montilios at least 3 times a week. The ladies that work there in the morning are lovely, helpful, and the teens that usually work later in the day are sweet and helpful too. The pizza is the BEST in town! The sandwiches are great as well and the Hawaiian Eye is absolutely the BEST! If you have never had one, it is well worth the trip. The only thing missing is a shade at the window for the workers - the sun comes in the morning right at the spot where the ladies are trying to cash the customers out. George, get that shade! HA!

Finally checked this out after reading other reviews and wanted to report back their pizza is good. Maybe not fantastic but decent for when you just want a plain pizza. Plus, service was courteous and fast. I'm looking forward to trying their calzones next time. Worth a try

Great place. I used them this past month to order a cake for my best friend's bridal shower. The cake came out AMAZING! (I'll come back and link the picture when I'm not at work.) The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the cupcakes are great too!

Best wedding cakes! I helped pick out my best friends' wedding cake and this place has the BEST wedding cakes I have ever tasted. Just great cakes in general and I don't even like cakes! The marble cake is amazing and was a big hit with the guests. Shaw's sometimes have their cakes as well---try the great terramisu cake!

Thank you

Other bakeries have for instance, Red Sox cookies or Patriots cupcakes but you don't see that here.

love it here! great cakes and pastries and their pizza (!) is excellent...esp the sicilian, I would say the best pizza in the area actually! (and the they do pizza delivery certain hours/days)

  • Chase S.

At Montilio's they're in the business of trading delicious fruit covered custard tarts for little pieces of green paper. I won't be able to sleep at night ripping them off this bad, but at least I won't be hungry!! Muahahaha!!!

YES YES YES YES YESSS!! I have found the best pizza in all the land. The land, being Quincy. Great sauce to cheese taste ratio and expertly baked pizza dough/crust. I'm coming back soon!! A little oily but who cares!?

I gave 3 stars because they sell stale cupcakes, whoopie pies and a cake I bought for a friend at works bday was not 100% fresh. If you order something special it is always fresh and delicious but beware if you buy out of the case. The pizza is awesome. It's my favorite!

  • Richard F.

To my surprise, the pizza and calzone are really good, which is strange since it seems like sort of a side business in the back.

i curse the person who showed me this place! i DARE you to walk in and NOT get something. i was completely overwhelmed with the sugary deliciousness that was displayed everywhere i looked. plenty of cake, cupcake, cookie, pastry, bread, etc options. sampled too many things then i'd like to share... they were ALL delicious though. prices are pretty reasonable, and i'll definitely be going back.

Super nice people, everything is always fantastic. My favorite is the whoopie pie. I will be getting my wedding cake here next year.

Great spot right near Quincy center! Their pizza is awesome, my advice is getting it well done! Their cupcakes are also the best around! Highly recommend!

Some Birthday huh! oh and not to mention they spelled the name wrong on the cake as well! smh
