The environment is blah, food was expensive and the clams bland & rubbery. Can't say the lobster blew me away either. The tail meat was tough and needed allot of butter. Worth the gas to go up to Woodman's or Clam Box instead, or go to Legal for a sit down dinner with better ambiance.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe this place has 4 stars. We came mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and the place wasn't empty but there were only about 4 other tables of people. The atmosphere is meh. We ordered two beers, a bowl of clam chowder, and two lobster rolls. The beers were brought out immediately and then nobody acknowledged us again. Some people got bread brought over, nobody brought anything to our table but we didn't really want it anyways and we weren't sure if you're supposed to ask, or what. The beers were finished and we weren't asked if we would like more drinks. After 40 minutes and other people who had ordered before and after us getting their food, we were not happy that even our chowder hadn't been brought out. I went back to the front where you order and I asked if they knew when our food was coming, because we had been waiting over a half hour and we were trying to get to an appointment. The cashier was minimally apologetic and said she would check in the kitchen. Obviously they had forgotten about us! When I came back to the table, the waitress came over and asked if we had already been helped. We gave her the same spiel and she said she'd find out in the kitchen. She came back and said sorry and told us the chef is "going just as quick as he can" and that our food would be out soon. They finally brought the bowl of clam chowder and a few minutes later the lobster rolls. The chowder was good, the lobster rolls were fine and good sized, we certainly enjoyed both of them, but they were not worth a 40 minute wait. I would have expected that after forgetting about us and making us wait, they would have at least comped part of the bill or offered some sort of gesture of apology, but you pay before you get your food and they didn't go out of their way to make up for their mistake. Very disappointing given their high rating, we definitely will not be back.

Went for dinner with my brother and sister-in-law. My brother began with oysters-said they were the best he'd ever eaten. My sister-in-law had swordfish. She described it as "awesome." I had broiled scrod. It was done perfectly. You order at the counter and meals are brought to the table. You get a choice of 2 sides, things like baked or mashed potatoes, rice, cole slaw, butternut squash. The squash was delicious-slightly sweet and not watery. We had a piece of red velvet cake for dessert, with three spoons, that was big enough to split three ways. Everything was fresh and delicious.

We only had 48 hours in the Boston area and had to have some fried clams. One dinner was pre-arranged so we only had one lunch and one dinner to venture out. We started with restaurant.com for promotional coupons and this was one of the participating restaurants. They did not disappoint. The clams were excellent. Nice and juicy, full bellied. Fries were pretty good. Root Beer is a custom brew. The place isn't fancy, but what "clam shack" is, really? You go here for the food, mainly. Based on menu prices online, they beat Farnhams and Woodmans, and it certainly was a lot closer to where we had our activities planned, so it worked out. For those that are surprized to pay when you arrive, that's the way they do it at "clam shacks." Legal Seafood did this at their original location in Inman Square too, "back in the day." As a native Bostonian, I have come to appreciate good seafood, fried, baked, grilled, and broiled. This certainly is on a short list for a return visit to Boston and the North Shore area.

I went to Seawitch for the first time for Mother's day. I had the haddock sandwich and my wife had a lobster roll. The sandwich was great and the lobster roll was good too. I had a bake potato and that was good . The only thing that needs a little work was the fried dishes. I felt like the oil needed change. This place is similar to kelly's roast beef. you have to pay upfront and then you get your food.

Not the fanciest place in the world but it was exactly looking for on a Wednesday afternoon. Lots of fried foods but broiled and steamed as well if you are trying to stay away from the fried stuff. I ordered the oysters on a half shell and some sautéed veggies with butternut squash. Oysters and the steamed veggies were fresh and the squash was good too. I was surprised to see the scallops were breaded but they were pretty darn good as well.

There was a wait for tables, but the manager was standing nearby and suggested that my husband and I grab a seat at the bar (10 seats, only 2 filled at the time), so we took advantage and are SOOO glad we did! The bartender was FAB! We asked her to recommend some of her favorites, so we started with the cherrystone clams (amazing!!), followed by a bowl of chowder (YUM!), and ended with the broiled scallops (OMG! to die for!!)... I can't say enough about this place... the service was friendly and fun, and the food was delish! We give this place 5 stars without hesitation. Thanks to them for their hospitality!!

I tried this place a while back and had lobster that was baked stuffed. So good I remember this meal among the hundreds per year I eat in restaurants. It was very fresh and light and crispy stuffing filled with seafood. The desert I had was the homemade bread pudding. It was the best! I would give 5 stars for food but a little less for service.it was busy but it took a while to get served.

Strolled in around 4 found the 7 seat bar copped a Cherrystone ,a lemon and a plate of steamers. Super fresh steams from Ipswitch bay. My girlfriend loved the baked lobster pie, and my fryer seafood plate was hefty and crispy. The best shot without heading down toward Gloucester / Essex (MA).

Got there about 10 mins to close. The hostess said it was no problem to come in. I ordered the Lobster Stew and the Fried Clam Small box. This was more than enough food. The Lobster Stew was unexpectedly thick but full of flavor. You tasted the wine, sweet lobster base, and of course lots of chunky lobster claw pieces. The fried clams were amazing. These were the local Ipswich clams. I was not used to this but it was a wonderful delight. The clams were crisp, light batter covered, and the clams melted in your mouth. A great place and for seafood. I will definitely return.

All I can say is that the food is AMAZING! Had our lobster fill with the bisque, roll, and pot pie. We also had a Caesar Salad, and an order of Oysters on the half shell. The food was reasonably priced, with the portions that were offered. The three of us were stuff beyond belief!

If you want a dive, this place is great. It is on the drive from Boston airport to New Hampshire/ Maine. They have everything fried: oysters, shrimp, lobster. Steamed clams and lobsters, and of course lobster rolls. The lobster rolls had small chunks of lobster but lots of it and the buns were toasted. This is my favorite type of lobster roll bun. The contents had a little more mayo than I like it. You order at the check in area and then you go to a table and they bring it to you. It is great for a quick bite on the highway. We went at 3pm so it was not busy but I hear it is crowded during lunch and dinner hours. Cole slaw was great and onion rings were amazing.

With so many seafood options in the North Shore, I don't see how the Seawitch is surviving. The skinny: Food Quality = 1 star Ambiance = 1 star Price = 1 star Ate dinner here with my GF on a Saturday night and there were only 4 tables seated. On top of that, we saw 2 couples walk out without even ordering (because of the quirky ordering setup that other reviewers mention) and that should've been a red flag. We ate there anyway and regretted the whole experience. Just to clarify, I'm not exaggerating how bad the quality of the food was. I had the Lobster Pie. It had 4 pieces of lobster tail in a baking dish with some bread crumbs...that's it. To boot, the lobster was chewier than octopus. Because of the level of pride for the local seafood, I'm a little surprised there's not a local ordinance that fines anyone that serves lobster this poorly! My GF had the Stuffed Sole. It had a brown gravy on it that had a 'skin' formed on it, likely from sitting under a heat lamp. The 2 dishes were ~$35, so not much value there. The ambiance is like a Long John Silver with a few burned out light bulbs. The food was so bad, we left and went to Cheesecake Factory to finish 'dinner'. I can see this place being a candidate for Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares! Sadly, the best things we had were: the Guiness Stout, the Bass Ale, & the french fries...

We've always loved their lobster rolls, but at our last visit the whole experience was a disappointment and certainly not worth $50. We ordered a take-out order of mussels that were gritty and unclean. Both lobster rolls had bits of shell in them and our take-out container had a long black hair stuck to the outside. Seawitch has the best lobster rolls we've ever had, so we'll give the benefit of the doubt that this was an off night, but nevertheless this needed to be known.

This is 5-stars FOR THE AREA. There's more luxurious and ambient seafood places in Metro Boston and more clammier fried clam shacks up north through Ipswich, Essex, Rockport and Gloucester, but for good ol Peabody, this is just one heckuva damn good find for seafood lovers who like it simple and fairly priced. If you're north of SeaWitch, you generally have to travel a few miles past to the Lynnfield line to turn around onto the Southbound side of Rte 1, which is no big deal but you should know because if you're planning to eat here around the same time as evening rush hour, you're gonna get trapped down by the Lynnfield line for up to 30-35 min before you can make it back to where SeaWitch is... Craigs review covered it very well. Im just reinforcing it and comment specifically on the lobster which is so damn good and fresh that it's worth every penny in these "expensive lobster times." Twin 1lb lobsters cost me $28.95 with 2 generous sides. The clam chowder is excellent and everything is overall good. If you've got someone with you who's growin' a belly, the tables could be kinda tight. They're your standard 4 seater. If you have more than 4 in your party, you can seat more in the table across the aisle and still feel like you're all together. But, they also have bigger tables towards the back, near the bar. An acquaintance owns the seafood shop next door and the catch is always fresh and reasonably priced. If you're in the area and in dire need of fresh, tasty, high-quality, reasonably priced seafood, SeaWitch should definitely be on your list.

Great value for Lobster. They steam it properly and it is delicious. Service is poor at best as you order before you sit down. It is worth this small annoyance as the price is right and the food is fresh!

Me and my bf ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer. They was so delicious! perfect starter for 2 people. We ordered and split the twin lobsters that come with 2 sides. {Pass on the butternut squash, its tastes like baby food mixed with sea water. YUCK!} We also got two house brewed root beers, they were rootbeerish, nothing special. Our bill came to under $40. (amazing deal) the twin lobsters were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as they looked. {CAUTION: they give you an whole lobster so you gotta crack it open yourself, prepare to get messy!} The staff was friendly. The venue is worn down and shady looking. I will definitely be coming back next time im in Peabody and craving a killer deal on lobsters!.

I had heard from someone that they had enjoyed eating at Seawitch for lunch. After reading the reviews, i suggested to my husband that we go there one day for lunch. The decor is nothing to write home about, but my food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. My husband had fried clams, that had a "muddy" taste to the them and were disgusting. Not impressed.

The most important element of any seafood restaurant is freshness. And this cozy little seafood restaurant is the epitome of that. It is a cavalcade of seafood delights. When you first enter the place, you smell the salty aroma of the sea with their fresh seafood counter to greet you. To the right, there is the entrace way to the bar and restaurant. There are many things from which to order. The clam chowder is great. The lobster roll has a decent amout of lobster on standard hot dog roll. But the scallops were the best. You have the choice of broiled or baked for 7-8 huge scallops, and I did not regret my choice. They were right up there with the best of them. The scallops come on a skewer and they are served absolutely fresh. My sides of coleslaw and rice were excellent also. The prices are good because with a coke it came to less than $40 altogether. Not the largest place, but there is still enough seating and parking around. When you smell the interior, you know that they pride themselves on quality. There truly is no place like it. I will have to try their shrimp next. Although I like a lobster roll, I am not a fan of freshly killed lobster. But since there are many lobster fans out there, I did take a flyer of with some specials on there. For the lobster, it reads: Steamed Lobsters - market price - pick your lobsters and have us steam them. Served with butter and lemon. Ask about the twin lobster special. So for you lobster fans, this sounds like a nice place to try. I recommend it for the lobster roll and other things, at the very least.

Oh Seawitch, where do I begin? How about with a big kick in the kajoolies to the Andleman's of Phantom Gourmet who recommended it through one of their in-show commercial plugs ? (I liked it much better with Billy Costa....I think they Andlemans are food whoooahs...get my meaning. The only good place that they recommend is Fuddrucker's....or as I like to call it, Ruddfuhhhh :D you finish the rest !) OK first the smell, nothing whets your appetite like the combined smell of fishy fish, Windex with a hint of pee\mens room. Prices seemed high to me. Chowder was ok...obviously microwaved from cold (ie: cold with screamingly hot Chernobyl-shaming hot spots). I stirred until I had a just above lukewarm temperature. My mum got shrimp that she said were tough, Smelled gross to me. I got a haddock fillet. I like haddock...EXCEPT FOR THE SKIN.....shudder. At least I could tell it was haddock because of the gray line running down the side of the skin (heave). I wish they told me that it wasn't skinless. Luckilly, the skin peeled off this thin fillet easily, leaving this white gunk on my haddock (wretch) . The fries were soggy from my fish water :( Apparently there was a drinks limit of 1 per. I guess they know I can't handle my diet coke and lemon well. Waitress apparently evaporated until it was time for the check. It was lunch time so there was hardly anyone there, can't imagine what was keeping her so occupied.

The weird thing about this place is that you pay before you eat. Can a brother have some service before he puts his money down? But nope, they want yo moneys now. Anyways. we poor college students so we bought a fish sandwich. didn't have the dough to try the lobster. hahah. nope i'm not bitter. i'm just poh. (poor) fish sandwich was oh right. nothing to rave about. it did not melt in my mouth. one thing nice was the waitress. the little minx brought over three glasses of ice water cuz i says i was thirsty. i tipped her well for that. 20 percent baby! what?! i says i poh. i gave her 100 percent more than i usually tip. 10 percent. hahahha. the lesson of the day: come with rich doctor sister so she can buy yous a double lobster meal that all these other foos on this review board raving about. the second lesson of the day: get the same minxy waitress to wait you. she nice.=) in a christian way of course=)

This is certainly not the fanciest restaurant but the seafood more than makes up for it. I've visited here 2 to 3 times and each time got the baked scallops. They are very yummy and they provide a slice of lemon to squeeze over them. My husband usually gets the fried shrimp which he loves. This place isn't cheap but the seafood seems fresh. We stop by a few times a year and it's a great staple for seafood.

Yum, yum, yum! A simple boiled lobster at Seawitch's was the best meal I've had in MONTHS! And the price was right, too. I got a one pounder for less than $16. The fish chowder was amazing, as were the butternut squash and coleslaw. Everything was just fantastic. Our service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful.

Great seafood but portions on the smaller side and prices on the higher side. Also not the best location and service is kind of slow with 1 or 2 waitresses covering a tiny dining room (20-30 seats maybe). Might be better off doing take out (although I haven't tried carrying out) but like I said food is fresh and very good. To order you have to wait in line which can be awkward due to a tiny area to stand in, sometimes the line goes of the door and your standing in the even smaller area between the entrance and exit doors. Very Limited beer/wine menu. Crawling with elderly, not the best place for a date. Overall "Very Good Food" but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here for the reasons listed above.

Ok, they added on a gratuity of 21% to the bill as we stood at the counter and ordered our food. I like to reserve tips like that to a place you sit down and order you food. Clam chowder was good. Scallops and clams were chewy. Go to Ipswich if you want a much better meal. Too many other fried food restaurants that are much better in our area. Staff was friendly.

My husband and I decided to go out for a Valentine's Day lunch instead of going to the over priced over full restaurant that we went to last year for dinner. We had great service and wonderful, fresh sea food with delicious sides. The chowder was great and got some to have at home. The server and overall atmosphere was just perfect!! Will definitely frequent this restaurant more often!

Just had dinner here tonight - second time in a week! I had the twin boiled lobsters both times and they were sweet, delicious, and perfectly cooked. Sea Witch clam chowder is the benchmark from which I judge all other chowders. It has NEVER disappointed me, and I have been eating it since forever. The only other clam chowder that measures up is whatever goes in the bread bowl at Topsfield Fair, and that may just be because I was tired and hungry from walking around... Anyway, my favorite non-lobster item here is the fried oyster plate. It's inexpensive compared to the other fried dishes, but totally awesome. I will say that the side dishes are a bit on the "meh" side and can be inconsistent in quality. But... who really goes to a seafood joint because of their rice pilaf anyway? I've been coming here since I was a wee little lobster eater. On that note, the decor hasn't changed in the last ~25 years and I'm OK with that!

A great New England Establishment. Great prices, good food, seafood is yummy. I had the clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, and baked haddock with rice pilaf and veggies and a diet coke all for $26! The portions were very generous, I couldn't finish it all. I feel the prices are very good for fresh seafood. I would have liked a little more flavor for the baked haddock though, maybe more seasoning on the bread crumbs. The people working there were fantastic! Not bad at all. A great casual place to go and get good food. A-Ok!

  • Justin B.

I am an out-of-towner and am not used to having such a large selection of seafood to choose from. I ended up ordering the fried oyster special with a side of fries and steamed vegetables. I have never had fried oysters, and I thought they were good but somewhat bland. The same can be said for the fries and steamed vegetables. They both lacked seasoning and flavor. I liked the fact that you order at the door and then go sit down. The servers were friendly and my food was delivered promptly. This seemed to really streamline the process. They also have a little bar area to sit at with reasonable beer prices.

I love this place. Not only is it very close to me; it has awesome, fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. The decor makes you feel like your somewhere close to a harbor not right on Rte. 1.

Very dissappointed. For the money, I was expecting a bigger portion. The service was fair. I also didn't find the people that worked there very nice. I won't be going back.

Yummy! I love this place! They have giant portions, and all at a great price The seating is a bit limited but the staff is friendly and the take out service is quick and easy too. When I want good seafood on the North Shore away from the hustle and bustle of places like Gloucester and Salem!

A few nights ago was my second time visting the Seawitch. My first visit was last summer after a day at the beach in NH with my boyfriend. We wanted fresh seafood and his GPS directed us through Peabody. When we pulled into the parking lot and saw the worn down blue and white building, we were a little skeptical. But we went inside and were more than happy. Then the other night I was craving seafood, so we decided to drive the 20 minutes to Peabody for a guaranteed good meal. The Seawitch is a mix between a take out counter and a sit down restaurant. You order your food at the counter, find a seat and then get waitress service for the rest of the time. I ordered half a dozen oysters and a Caesar salad. We shared the baked stuff shrimp and he got the Dungenness Crab Legs. The oysters were fresh (a little small), and so perfect with just a dab of horseradish. The Caesar salad was much bigger than I imagined but very good. Crisp, fresh lettuce, nice toasty croutons and the dressing was just how I like it, not too thick and with the parmaseany (?) feel. The baked stuff shrimp were amazing. They were served with a delicious crumb stuffing, and with just a little squeeze of lemon they were by far the best stuff shrimp I've ever had. Lastly, the crab legs. They were perfect. No melted butter, just a plate full of legs and claws and a cracker and fork to get the good stuff! The legs were sweet and fresh. Lastly, we shared the cheesecake for dessert. Canned strawberries, not that good. Most definitely not made in house. All in all, this is a wonderful seafood spot. They mostly serve the fish fried and broiled. They have clams, oysters, shrimp, haddock, scallops, sole and scod, lobsters, and crab legs. No fancy fish, so if you love tuna and sea bass like I do, you're out of luck.

  • Shelly A.

The food here is so great. Obviously, you should be getting some kind of seafood here. I usually get some kind of grilled scallop kebab thing (I forget exactly what it's called) and it's so delicious I'm actually upset when it's gone. I don't know what they use to season it but it's out of this world. The baked stuffed sole with breadcrumbs is also a real winner: moist, flaky, and sweet. Aside from the seafood, I love the chicken caesar salad. Great dressing (not too thick or too thin), perfectly fried chicken, nice cold romaine lettuce, big crunchy croutons. You wouldn't think a caesar salad could really be anything special, but I promise you, Seawitch will make you a believer. The only reason I don't give it a fifth star -- and I know someone's gonna get angry about this -- is that I find the ambiance a little weird. I know, it's not meant to be a fancy place, but I find it to be this weird real restaurant/seafood shack hybrid and I don't totally know what to make of it. The tables are uncomfortable and the service is a lot slower than most places this small/casual. BUT, please don't let this talk you out of going there. Once your food comes, you'll forget all about the odd atmosphere and get lost in the awesome flavors. Promise.

Wow, I had 2 one pound lobsters, a large Sam Adams Octoberfest, and 1/2 dozen fresh oysters and paid about $50, with a 20% tip! Coming from a landlocked state in the Midwest, that's an amazing deal. The restaurant is very unassuming and you have to negotiate the most screwed up, one way streets this side of Casablanca, but it's worth the effort. I sat at the bar after 8pm when it was mostly just the bartender and her girlfriends hanging out. I received very friendly service. In fact, the bartender did an oyster shooter with me. The sides were kinda mediocre, I had corn on the cob and steamed veggies. However, if you're coming here for the sides, you're missing the point. Enjoy the seafood, you won't be sorry.

My wife and I are kinda new in the area and we went to this restaurant after a friend's suggestion. What a mistake!! We had a calamari plate and a broiled haddock plate. First of all, contrary to the most of the people commented here we do not think that the portions are huge. Believe me we've seen many other restaurants whose portions anyone would call huge. But not seawitch's. I even don't want to comment on the taste of the food we had. The sides were nothing but bland, no seasoning or whatsoever. The haddock itself was frozen for sure and that's a no no in a seafood restaurant. It is just not acceptable. I was really hopeful about the calamari but oh boy... They covered the squids with so much flour that we could not taste the calamari at all. It tasted more like fried oily dough pieces. Service was quite fast compared to many seafood restaurants. Though, I generally don't care how fast the service is if the food is not worth eating. All in all, I would not suggest seawitch to any of my friends. I wish I could give them a half star...

My family and I have always enjoyed going here. The portions have always been good and food always taste great. Within the last 6 months the portions (on some items) are getting smaller. A couple weeks ago when we went I got the stuffed shrimp (on the special board) and it was fantastic and good size. My mom got the lobster pie which was priced about the same as many other restaurants and it was extremely tiny. It was serve in a silver hot dish that looked about the size of one of those mini pies you get 4 for $1 in grocery store. It was disappointing I'm sure we will continue to go but I hope nothing else shrinks to the size that lobster pie was!!

  • Mike D.

The five stars awarded are a salute to the stuffed lobster experience my wife and I speak about in giddy, hushed tones. Hands down the best either of us have had. I still have the picture of it in my phone.(And I have an old Nokia w/limited memory) That was April '08. With our bibs tied tight we tore through each shred of meat and bite of tasty crust exchanging awed glances just like we did at the Bad Brains reunion at one of CBGBs last shows -wordlessly acknowledging the truly majestic, something so good and so right that one feels compelled to share it with another. As in "Can you believe this? This it IT. This is THE REAL THING!!!" The shrimp appetizers and butternut squash were exemplary as well but its all about the lobster and the Seawitch delivers so ridiculously well that to nitpick about the eerily quaint atmosphere, or RT 1 (where if you miss an exit, you could be committed for miles) is unthinkable.

While this may not look like a 5 star restaurant, the food is consistently 5 stars. The onion rings are the best I've ever had as well as fried scallops, broiled trout, etc. Their fried foods are very "dry" and you won't be getting indigestion later on. They have great luncheon prices (usually 4 or 5 specials that are under $7 which includes rice or potato, coleslaw, mixed veggies or coleslaw). Two people could order 1 order of onion rings and 1 order of Scallops and be quite content to share. So what if you have to go to the counter to order - it gives you a chance to study the menu in large print. When you order you have the choice of adding the tip to your credit card receipt, or if you prefer, you can leave the tip on the table. After you sit in fairly comfortable booths (or at a table with chairs), you receive rolls and drinks from your waitress. Have been going there for years and they're always nice waitresses. The waitress will get you additional rolls or drinks or anything else you want (you don't have to go back to the counter). There's a seafood store right next to it, so you can bring home something for the next day if you want. BRING A SWEATER OR LIGHT JACKET - THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONING CRANKED UP HIGH!

This is my favorite seafood restaurant on the planet. Why? Because I can get a twin lobster dinner for under $30, that's why! Great prices and great food from an unassuming little place along Route 1. I passed by it for years and years until I finally decided to try it. Now when I'm in the Boston area I always stop by--if not once, than multiple times. In the winter, bring a jacket--they like to keep that place chilly!

I found this place through yelp. I wanted a place that was like an ocean side eat in the rough, without the drive. It kind of takes a while to place your order if there is a line in front of you, but they help you find seating. Everyone loved their meals...scallops, baked stuffed lobster, fried shrimp and haddock. Not overly thrilled with the onion rings. We like the thin cut onion rings. These are thick. Its was a little hard to get waitress service once you sat and tipping was a little confusing. I will be back there again. The food was very fresh and yummy. Great place for fried seafood.

buyer beware!!!!!!!!!! lobster is not 15.95! they are 26.95!!! the sea witch has a big highway sign touting twin lobsters for $15.95. when you go on, you find out that the price is actually $26.95. now they claim "oh, thats the seafood store next door, we're notconnected, with each other. well, when iwalked to the rear and you can walk into the fish store section without going outside. i call that...connected. the food here is decent, but i'll never return. nothing i hate more than such deceptive, devious, bait and switch tactics! to make matters even worse, they have photos all over the walls, of both bush's and big mama babsie, playing golf. [while po' folks boys are being killed, for the corporations, upon whose boards, they sit.]

One of the best Seafood places on Route 1. The food is Suburb, Value Excellent, I love the Seafood Market Attached to the Restaurant. The Fish Monger's know there stuff. Must Try!

Great place for lunch and a great deal. NO Frills here. If you want table cloths and crumbs brushed off the table go elsewhere. Its cafeteria style where you step up to the counter and buy what you want cooked and they give you a table number. Sort of evolved from a fish market that started serving food. The fish and chips with veggies for lunch is a super deal. Check out the specials on the little chalk board. Lobster tails are good too. Harpoon on tap to wash it down and cold rolls and butter are brought to the table

We ate here twice in two days! We both had the twin lobsters the first night - double yum! The French fries were just ok and I don't recommend the steamed vegetables they were very crunchy and hard. The corn was great - butter sugar corn and a whole cob. The next night I got the broiled haddock and sweetens had the double lobster again. Taking my own advice I got the corn and onion rings this time - much better. This is not a fancy place, good food, you order before you get a table and they do a lively take out business. When you go - get the lobster.

I come to Sea Witch before I go to Kelly's for seafood. An odd setup though..you order and pay at the counter but then take your seat and a waitress brings you the food like regular table service. Been here about 4 times and the fried seafood is always very good. Tasty batter and good value.

We used Yelp to find a good seafood restaurant in the suburbs of Boston. My husband, my mother-in-law and myself went to The Seawitch Restaurant in Peabody from Woburn MA thinking we found a good local seafood restaurant at reasonable prices. My husband and mother-in-law both ordered crabcakes and I ordered the twin steamed lobsters. We assumed that the crabcakes were fresh but were VERY disappointed to find out they were frozen, mostly breadcrumbs and were not good at all. My Lobsters were over cooked and tough. For spenting close to $70.00, it was VERY disappointing. Before leaving the restaurant, I approached the owner at the register and told him we had a terrible meal. He was unresponsive and lacked any sincerity. He was uninterested in making us happy. I would not patronize this restaurant again.

Oh Oh, I hate to go against the masses here but I just don't see it! I've driven by this place hundreds if not thousands of times. Just went there last week for the first time. I had family in from out of state & they had to have lobsta. This was the closest place to where they were staying & this is where they wanted to go. This is a strange little place. You go to the counter, order and pay for your food & your given a number. When they find a table for you, you can sit down. No table, no sitting. Also no waiting area other than a 3 person bench in the vestibule. When your food is ready they bring it out with your drink order. They only serve beer & wine. The bar/oyster bar is tiny, maybe 4-5 stools. The dinning room is tiny, out dated & the chairs filthy. You know the old wooden ones with that tar like build up of sticky dirt. Yuk. Lets talk about the food. Just average prices. Last Friday (May 09) the lobster price was 18.99-19.99 per pound. I don't see that as a deal given the current state of the economy. The portions are not large. Someone in our party actually ordered a burger (don't ask me why), it was very clearly frozen and from a box. There was nothing wrong with the food but it was no better than any other average restaurant and given their reputation & that they specialize in seafood I thought it would be a bit above average. Baked jumbo shrimp not jumbo & just 3! They also have a seafood store attached to the building. There's nothing special here. You can do better. Any neighborhood restaurant serves the same food just as good if not better.

WINNER for unsung, unknown, seafood place so sshhhhh don't tell anyone or you will be behind me waiting for a table - award. It's right on Route one north in Peabody which is not pea - body it's pibidy. Say it fast. It takes 12.5 minutes from Boston going 65-70 miles per hour over the Zakin bridge and up north. Bam! you're there. This is something that is a dying breed in the area. An inexpensive roadside sea food joint. Lobsters by the pound, steamers, cherrystones on the half shell, chowda, lobsta rolls. Everything. You order when you walk in at the counter. pay for it then wait for a table. Once at the wooden tables (major nautical theme everywhere) they will take your drink orders. (full bar, ya mon) then STUFF YA FACE. Seriously, it is good, not expensive and has a take out fish market attached to the place. So it is fresh! At the fish market you can get twin lobsters to go for like 16 bucks. I once got a dozen clams on the half shell to go. They shucked em, set them up just like any restaurant and put them on a tray. I ate them at home with help while watching Lost. This really isn't a splurge or a drive so check it out. Also Liberty Tree mall is right near to see an after dinner movie at an awesome theatre. Don't you just love seafood?.

Absolutely the best seafood for its price. Now this is what you call fresh seafood. They have everything fried and pretty much everything broiled. I stuck with fried and got their double combo with shrimps and haddock with not one but two sides, fries and steamed veggies. For 14 bucks, it's the most delicious and satisfying seafood I've ever had. The staff is super friendly and helping. I'd love to come back here and try their fried oysters. If you like seafood, you have to try this place out!

I've been wanting to try SeaWitch for a while - I've seen it on Phantom Gourmet (I LOVE that show) and I never had a real, whole lobster (I've only had lobster tail, lobster ravioli, and lobster meat that was already removed from the shell...I've never cracked and tore apart my own lobster before until today LOL) and my fiancee hasn't had lobster in a long time. So we went for our 9th anniversary today. It's great because it's a step up from a rickety little clam shack but it's nowhere near as fancy or expensive as a ritzy seafood restaurant. It's a rare casual seafood restaurant that there should be more of, because if someone's in the mood for lobster you shouldn't have to either put on a jacket and tie or have to dodge seagulls at a shoreside shack. It is a little weird that you pay first then seat yourself and the food's brought out to you - it's like a hybrid of fast-food service and sit-down restaurant service. But the wait staff is really friendly and the food comes out quick. I found it funny that we only got one roll of bread each, but then again, I wouldn't have wanted to fill up on bread when I have a lobster coming. We split a twin lobster plate and it came with two sides for $24.95. They have soda and a decent selection of beers. I think they had wine too, I wasn't paying attention. There's a bar in the back too. If you've never had to crack open your own lobster before like me, there's paper placemats that show you how and also gives you some facts about lobsters. It's kinda cheesy but entertaining as well. The lobster was delicious and the sides we got - fries and mixed veggies - were really good too. A lot of other reviewers have commented on the decor and size of the dining area. Yes it's teeny and the decor is a bit dated and kinda cheesy - the bathrooms are labeled "Captains" and "Mermaids" - but it kinda adds to its kitschy charm. Besides - atmosphere isn't everything when it comes to dining, let the food speak for itself. It's on Route 1 North in Peabody which isn't too bad depending on traffic. Coming from Medford, it was a quick straight shot up the North side but if it were rush hour - or you were coming from the north and had to turn around - it can be a hassle. They also have a fish market next door so if you want fresh seafood to prepare at home this is a great place to get it. I'd love to try this place again for some fried seafood like shrimp or clams and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a seafood fix for not much money.

Based on the great reviews on Yelp, my wife and I stopped in for dinner during our stay in the Peabody-Salem area. We were primed for a great lobster dinner and Seawitch exceeded our expectations. We each ordered the $24.95 special that night which was a plate of twin 1 lb whole boiled lobsters (can you believe that price?) plus two sides (we chose corn on the cob and baked potato). The lobsters were the freshest, sweetest, tenderest lobster we have ever had. We also ordered the clam chowder. I ordered a bowl, my wife a cup. It was great as many posters here have attested. After placing our order, we were seated shortly thereafter on a busy Friday night. Our waitress came by our table when she noticed that the order included an additional pint of chowder. When we said we hadn't ordered that she said she'd get it taken off and our money refunded and indeed she came back a few minutes later with the overage. How is that for caring to check and good old honesty! We also overheard another waitress at another table questioning why one of the patrons hadn't touched their potato. She admonished that if it wasn't what he liked she was ready to replace it with another side item. You can tell they really take care of their customers. No wonder the place was busy busy. We may just go back there again before we leave town.

Very good food, and even better prices. I had a full meal, then ordered a cold lobster roll to go. The wait staff was very polite and prompt for all my needs and food delivery. They also brought out dishes timely as you would expect, not all at once and flooding the table with food becoming cold while you ate the chowder. I will return here every time I am in the Boston area.

Went there for dinner and it must have been an off night. I've been eating here for years and always enjoy either the baked haddock dinner or the baked scallops. After not eating there in a couple months and craving seafood, we decided to head there. Ordering was fast and easy. We took our seat on at a booth which would have been great except the booster seat supplied didn't really fit due to the curved bench. So I constantly had to hold the chair so my daughter wouldn't fall between the table and bench. When the food arrived I was disappointed to see how small the lobster roll was. I mean $19.00 and there was more lettuce than lobster meat. There was no flavor to meat and there were no chunks of lobster in it. Would never order this again. We ordered the haddock which was also bland. The topping on it was the only flavor and even that was mild. The fish itself looked ok. It still had skin on it and some parts looked pink and wet. So I cut around it. Luckily it was a huge amount so there was plenty to still eat. The potato was dry and hard to cut into and the vegetables were no better. My biggest complaint was the lack of flavor in any of food. I've never had this issue there. The food is normally excellent but after leaving there still hungry I can say I won't be back for a bit. Hopefully it was just an off night. Their saving grace was their waitstaff who were awesome!!!!

What happened Sea Witch?!?!?!?!?? I have been coming in here since I was a kid, I loved the Sea Witch! Always had a great meal at a reasonable price. Heck, we all know even George Bush liked it! I come in here with my husband a few weeks ago and boy am I excited. The lady at the counter, well she's not so excited. She was flat out rude. Okay, whatever lady, I'm not letting you spoil my excitement. I order a lobster roll, my husband gets a lobster pie. We each get a soda. It was over $50! Five.Zero. Now let's get into the food... My "lobster" roll was most definitely not lobster. In fact, it looked and smelled like crab out of a can. I just wish it had tasted as good as crab in a can. The lobster pie, although tasty, was about the size of a tea cup plate. Now, let's reiterate. I spent $50 for crab meat in a can on a stale hot dog bun and a lobster pie, children's sized. Oh and 2 sodas. I am so disappointed with the Sea Witch and will not be going back.

Went here on my first night as recommended by hotel staff. Fresh lobster and steamers were wonderful. As a person who lives in a land locked part of the country...is was looking lovely. I as love that they have ginger ale as a drink choice. it must be a regional thing and one I love. the side of fries were plentiful and nicely fried. I know..they are fries. But so many places mess them up. Service is ordering at a counter then getting a number and wait staff bringing it. Overall a nice hole in the wall. Lobster rolls were lovely. My opinion on this dish is not to be taken seriously as I live in the South now and never eaten this dish before. I really like these as the meat was nice enough and sweet and plentiful. service was attentive. There is fish market next door with decent selection. Bit limited when I was there but I was told to check back. I will.

We drove directly from Logan Airport, after arriving from the West Coast, to have dinner at this restaurants. We had been here in previous visits to Mass and again the food was amazing! We ordered twin lobsters, steamers and fried clams and beer. The lobsters tasted so fresh, the steamers were large and generously served and the clams were very good too. We'll visit again when we are in the area!

This place is pretty good. Been here only once, so more visits are needed. The staff is friendly and the food was made/prepared just right. I had an order of the oysters on the half shell. They were extremely good. I believe they only serve Island Creek oysters. My gf and I shared a bowl of lobster stew and stuffed mushrooms. The stew was very good and loaded with meat. The mushrooms were ok. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Oysters were good but they were out of chardonnay wine. How a seafood restaurant can let that happen in unbelievable. Forced to have a white reisling. Plus I thought a oyster bar would have raw oysters but all they had were fried. I won't be back

Maybe it was an off day but the food was not great. Got the fish sandwich and my wife had a lobster roll. The bun was much bigger than the fish and the lobster roll had too much mayo. Everything lacked flavor. Someone forget even a token amount of salt?

Being from Colorado we went here on the recommendation of family that lives in the area. We were not disappointed. If you want good seafood in Colorado you have to pay a lot for it at higher end restaurants. The price here was awesome, as a family of six we got out of there for around $100! It is casual and you order at the counter...nothing fancy. Service was fast and the food was great! Would definitely come back again.

I'm from Chicago. Completely unbiased and out of the box perspective. I'm on a lobster roll tour... Seawitch - I was buying a car in Danvers and wanted one bad. I yelped seawitch because it was close by. Ordered a lobster roll... It was delicious. Not as good as Neptune but gives Yankee lobster a run for its money. Delicious and courteous portion of lobster. Bread wasn't too bulky, it was toasted and soft. Butter not too overpowering. It's currently #3 on my list...

Meh. The clam chowder was decent. I ordered the seafood plate it took forever to come out so I know it was fresh. Though well cook I found the plate over all to be bland. I was not at all impressed with the clams the shrimp were ok all two of them. I never did find any fried oysters. The fries and onion rings were nothing to write home about. The staff was polite and helpful. In my opinion overall the experience was a let down. I might be back but not likely.

Have lived in the area all my life & always just drove by this place until one day a few years back a girlfriend was in town & wanted some Seafood and didnt want to go into Boston (it was a Friday Night) not many places around anymore that arent crazy time so I went to Yelp and Seawitch came up & it was one of those... Ooh I always knew it was there but lets try it out place... SOOOO MAD I waited soo many years to try it... At first glace its a little dumpy... You order at the counter & then take a number & sit down. The booths are tiny & we are two Big girls (I mean these were tiny booths) but luckily there was a nice table at the back with chairs. Sat there & then proceeded to wait for food, wasnt all that long and we ordered several things to try. Some Apps, Some Entrees, Soups, Salads... The waitress was great & she kept stopping by to chat & was very attentive. Portions are great & Everything was REALLY good... This place truly shocked me. The side veggies were soo great & not mushy they were all fresh & just soo good. I got a Baked Casserole with a variety of things, the crumb topping was just ritz but they were great. GF got a fried plate & it was delish as well. I have since been back several time and even taken things to go (I Dont recommend - soggy Scallops in the car are just soo not as good as they would have been in the restaurant - But sometimes crying babies make for car eating!) All in all a Great place, def give them a try & dont Judge a book by its cover!

Wow, this was good. We stayed north of Boston and was pleasantly surprised to find such good food north of town. I suppose you could go into town at a fancier restaurant and pay more for a Lobster, but why. We had the broiled lobster and crab cakes. It was awesome. I will go back if I'm ever back in town. Don't let the exterior facade turn you away. Food was good and staff was friendly. Only thing I would change, since you order at the counter, is to keep the tab open so I could order a second drink or desert without having to go back to the counter and wait in line again.

Have driven by this place prob a thousand times...today we tried it! Mom wanted a hot Lobstah roll! It was pretty good for the price you got a lot of meat ($17) and the Lobstah stew was delish lots of chunks of meat the cup was enough for 2! We got take out but the staff was very friendly and it's a cute little unassuming place def a must try! All of the dishes I watched come out of the kitchen looked great! Thumbs Up in my book

I've been here twice this summer, once for stuffed lobster with a friend on Mother's day, and it was decadent and delicious. French fries perfect, and a baked potato for me, which was pretty good. Coleslaw was great. No beer or wine at that time though, I'm glad they had that straightened out on our second visit. That time I came with a couple of friends for steamers and beer, we didn't want to deal with the traffic to get up to the ocean and eat on a Friday, so I suggested Sea Witch. They had a pretty good selection of beer on draft, but the mugs were pretty small, probably 12 oz. We each ordered a plate of steamers and an ice cold beer, and onion rings to start. Very good with the beer, and the steamers came right when we were finishing. Piled high and nice and hot. They were very very good, but I noticed right away that the butter they served was unsalted, which didn't sit right with me or my friends. We just shook a little salt in our melted butter and continued eating, and all was well. Afterwards we ordered half a dozen oysters because I had never tried them, and they were good too. I would like to try the broiled and the fried seafood there as well, because it looks fantastic, and the patrons all seem to be enjoying their dinners! I can't wait till my next visit!

Good service and delicious food! You start out standing in line and ordering your food. Then once a table is ready, they will seat you and your food is already being cooked. My boyfriend ordered lobster pie and there must have been an entire lobster in there. it was delicious and filling. I had fried clams and they were wonderful. I will definitely be back

The food is tasty but the service is beyond awful. The manager/owner is useless & almost seems like he has no idea what he is doing. I asked our "waitress" three times for a water. We got our crab legs without any sort of tools. We had to flag down a different waitress to get them. It seems very unorganized which is a shame since the food is good.

My Boyfriend took me here for my Birthday and treated me to the baked stuffed Lobster, what a disappointment!! It was supposed to be stuffed with Lobster and shrimp.... All it was was bread stuffing, not one piece of shrimp and little to none lobster meat. What tail meat there was, was very over cooked. Will not recommend to anyone.

We used to love this place. Went every Friday night. Then we had a few problems, some clams that were not up to par, undercooked vegetables, wrong orders, etcetera and, to our surprise, the management was not as responsive as we had hoped. Also, the menu never seems to change. Same old thing, week after week, whatever the season. The Seawitch was great for a while, but somewhere along the way they stopped putting the customer first and paying attention to the details. :(

  • Kay S.

This place was fantastic. For the fair pricing, the fish was some of the best and freshest I've found. The piece of halibut I got was thick cut and broiled nicely. All of their sides were amazing as well, cole slaw is a good balance of sweet and vinegar (something I'm very picky about) and butternut squash was rich and tasty. My boyfriend had the trout and sweet potato fries and baked potato, everything was eaten clean. Tried a couple of their oyster too and again, another home run. The service was nice and accommodating, even though they currently were not serving beer and wine due to a license transfer because of new ownership, that did not matter one bit because the food totally surpassed expectations. Will return again, and again!

Can't recommend. Ordered lobster roll with sweet potato fries. Lobster was 90% claws and very dry and the amount was very skimpy to say the least. Fries were ok but nothing to write home about. Atmosphere was that of a sub shop, very drab and deary and small. Prices were high for the lack of quality. If I want good seafood I'll go to Legal instead, much better all around.

    (1)
  • Jim M.

Atmosphere worse than Arby's, food just as bad. Had a cup of clam chowder that was all cream with nary a potato or clam. Them we had the lobster roll which probably had a pint of mayo soaked up into pretty rubbery lobster. The fries were well cooked, but had no flavor. Pretty awful and disappointing, especially with all the good reviews.

So I drove to Peabody today to see my Mom and Dad who are staying in Peabody for a week. I got the day wrong and they were in Gloucester. So, I told myself, I'm going to the Seawitch. I got chowder, onion rings and a cup of coffee. Everything I got was delicious. Since I was alone I was checking out other peoples orders and everything looked great. I want to go back for a gigantic salad. Beyond that the staff was so friendly and excellent. The place has a very nice, positive relaxed vibe.

Having been a native of the Rt 1 strip for over 30 years, I have often wondered what the Seawitch is all about. After having a major craving for fried seafood and clam chowder, I finally decided to give this place a whirl. Like other posters have said, there isn't anything about this place that "wows"; that is at least in terms of the ambiance. However, this place has excellent seafood and also serves alcohol. It's a great change from Kelly's drive thru. I had a bowl of clam chowder, a haddock and scallop plate, and a fishermans brew. It was great and absolutely satisfied my craving! The staff were also very friendly and helpful and the food came out rather quickly. Try this place you won't be disappointed.

I have lived on the North Shore my whole life and never been to the Sea witch......until now! I went there on a weeknight for pickup because I had a restaurant.com coupon. To be honest I didn't expect it to be good as I have never had anyone tell me anything about it. To my surprise it was excellent! I had the baked haddock dinner, it came with rice and mixed veggies. It was very fresh fish baked perfectly and was a very large portion. My wife ordered a cheeseburger dinner for only $4.95 and even that was excellent! I went back for a second time last night to be sure it was consistent, and it was! I will make this a more common stop for my take out. The only con I had was the stuffed clams, not much clam meat and too much stuffing! I did not dine in but had a quick glass of wine while waiting for the food to finish and that too was not bad and inexpensive.

Seawitch is a nice little restaurant front for their market next door. Its small, cute, quaint. Very intimate seating as you can hear almost every conversation going on around you. I've had the crab special which was very good. No spices or nothing, just straight up crab. I think they forgot about my order because it took about 20min to come out. My coworkers too only maybe 10. But I got a free beer for it! I also had the lobster which was...disappointing. You'll see in my picture that one of my claws was deformed like the guy got in a fight with the chef before meeting his demise. And the lobster was small. I was still hungry afterward. And it was just lacking that rich lobster flavor that is the sole reason why I order lobster. The crab was better. Also during the visit their credit card machine wasn't working and I really don't carry cash.

I was really excited thinking I found a "diamond in the rough" when reading reviews of my fellow yelpers, I was mistaken. Don't get me wrong, there were some redeemable qualities (hence more than one star). The servers and "host/order taker/cashier" were extremely friendly and attentive. The decor is appropriate and clean. The sides of sweet potato fries and baked potato were also good, and plentiful. Entrees come with two sides so, for one person, it is a lot of food. Pricing overall is affordable as well. Now what led to three stars short of great... A basket of bread came out with my pint of harpoon. The bread was hard (not warm at all) and potentially borderline stale. When my entree of jumbo stuffed shrimp arrived it smelled delicious. The amount of sides definitely overtook the plate. Had the shrimp not been in a serving boat they would've disappeared under sweet potato fries. The crab stuffing was wayyyyyy to breaded. The taste of crab was gone after one bite and it was just more breading than anything else. Three shrimp stuffed could have been good if it was stuffed with much more crab. I may have made a poor choice on entree so I wouldn't blanket say all the entrees are poor, however I would say to avoid all the stuffed items and skip the bread basket.

Here's what I love here: lobster bisque, onion rings. fresh fish. Here's what I don't love: Stingy, stingy, stingy. They don't fill up your bowl with soup, refill drinks, and for a "fish shack" ambience, I should not be able to count my fried clams at a glance. I have been to Seawitch a dozen times and despite their stinginess the bisque is cravable and I always know that I will keep going back. What truly annoyed me enough to post is that I recently went in with a restaurant.com gift certificate. I read the fine print about the minimum purchase requirement, and I was fine with that, but nowhere did they communicate that you were not allowed to order anything with a market price if you were using a promotional certificate. Not even live lobster that is $4 a pound at the supermarket? May I speak with the manager about this? We don't have one, was the response. Who's in charge? I am, says the teenager at the register. The teenager-in-chief tells us you can't order live lobster with a promotion but you can get the fried lobster tails, and everyone loves them. Not us, they were the size of my thumb, and looked appetizing but there were shreds of meat inside - it seemed to be constructed they way that chicken nuggets are, you know what I mean? Blech. So, buyer beware is what I say about Seawitch.

Good food and service! The broiled scallops are delicious. They are lightly breaded and hold the flavor of all the juices in. The dipping butter is a blend of butter and wine. Clam chowder was good but a little light on the clams.

My family and we're once before about a year ago and it was pretty good. Tonight I picked to go here for my birthday dinner, boy were we all disappointed!! Starting with the counter help ( she couldn't have been more unpleasant or ruder if she tried). The waitress who delivered our food was the only good part of the night. The meal itself ( boiled lobster dinner, baked scallop dinner, and baked haddock dinner) were all very overcooked and rubbery, except the vegetables, which were very undercooked! For an $80.00 dinner tab for three people with no alcohol, I expect a lot better food! I will definitely not be recommending this place any time soon!

Food and price, YOU CANNOT BEAT. Quality of service and food, Excellent. For a place where during peak hours you are not seated, but waiting for a table...they make it work. Let me explain how this place runs so you are not blind sided by it. During the times where it is very busy, you put your order in and you wait in the seating area. Once a table clears up, you are seated and your food shortly gets there after. During non peak hours, you are seated like a regular restaurant. For the people who are reviewing and annoyed by it, you shouldn't be here. The place offers good seafood for a price you can't beat. If you are looking for something different, you are right there are PLENTY of places like that...with HALF the food and sub par service. To me service is everything. Food can be great, but if you have cotton mouth cause the servers are off doing whatever instead of filling drinks, its over. What I'd like to take time in pointing out is that the ladies that run this joint are great. They have always been friendly and courteous and attentive to your meals. They fill the drinks, and they are NICE. They seem local which gives them an A+. For an establishment like this, it is easy for things to get hairy and crazy, but they don't act that way, and that is when you know a place has mastered the art of quality food and SERVICE. Now onto the food. For a dinner of four, we paid $114 but we got four lobsters, salad, drinks (non alcoholic), 4 stuffed clams, calamari, raw oysters, and three chowders. HOLY CRAP!!!! At Legals we would have gotten half of that. WE HAVE. So what can I say when I tell you this is our favorite GO TO for seafood from now on. With prices like these we can eat lobsters weekly. Chowder...holy moly its great. The fish chowder they heap on a huge chunk of fish on the top, and the clam chowder is all clams and few potatoes. Homemade and it tastes like it! There is no overwhelming taste of fatty bacon that some high end restaurants like to do, it just tastes like good ol seafood! They also give you bread and butter, but eat it while its warm or else its kinda stale towards the end. We are bread lovers so we chow on it throughout the meal and after. The only thing I should tell you that may be a downside is skip the "stuffed mushrooms" it's mostly bread, and no seafood. BUMMER! The root beer that they make themselves is YUMMY! I love this place and cannot say that enough. If you have a budget, and looking for some good ol quality seafood with great people, go here. They also have a market next door for your own cook out and cooking pleasures. I'm def going for the fried clams next time!

What has happened to this formerly really good, very informal fish restaurant!??? Have been eating here for as long as I can remember, both for dinner and lunch. Had fish & chip special for lunch today, and not only was the fish portion vey, very small, it was absolutely tasteless.

Well, where do I begin? The restaurant itself is dirty. It smelled like dog poop in the entry way and into the small ordering area. The tables behind and adjacent to us were dirty with plates and a lobster shell. It took about 40 minutes into our visit for someone to clean the tables. We started off with the calamari for an app. My mom and I both had the lobster pie and my dad had a trio plate with shrimp, clams and oysters. The lobster pies were really small, but packed with a decent amount of lobster. My dad said the shrimp was good, the clams were meh and the oysters were disappointing. He didn't tell us this until after, because it was his birthday and he didn't want to disappoint us. Here comes the fun part. When I got home, I felt a little off. I was watching tv and felt nauseous. It went away until I stood up and I had to vomit. Later on, my father experienced the same symptoms. He had heart burn and nausea. He had to take Pepto to relieve his discomfort. The culprit? The calamari. It was the only food we shared. I always wanted to go here. I heard great things. But, with what happened, we won't be returning. The only bright side besides the lobster pie was our waitress. She was really sweet and efficient.

this is one of our fav places to get seafood-- im not a fan of fried seafood , i usually get the lobster roll which is reasonably priced. the ambiance is kinda small town/ local- they serve beer and wine and you order at the counter, get a number, and they deliver the food- i wouldnt call it full service but the food is good, reasonably priced, nice staff and service is efficient- worth the drive!

Food was fantastic. Lobster was as good as advertised. Was a bit pricey for the amount of food, but I would definitely go back.

My parents came up to visit for the day, and just HAD to have seafood. Being a recent college grad, and consequently having no money, I can't usually afford to go out for some good seafood with my friends. However, my parents have been taking me out for good seafood since I was a kid and never once allowed me to eat fishsticks, so I consider myself to be a pretty decent judge of good seafood. Therefore, I am confident in saying that The Seawitch is truly a great seafood place. Judging by outward appearances, the place is a bit of a dive, I'll admit. However, the waitstaff was very friendly and the food was unreal. My dad and I split an order of oysters like we always do, and we both agreed that these were far and away the best we've had. We had to put in an order for more because they were just that good. The steamers were also tender, delicious, and clearly very fresh. For my meal, I ordered the grilled salmon with capers, which was one of their daily specials. Unbelievably delicious. My parents each ordered the haddock, which they thouroughly enjoyed. Overall the experience was both delicious and enjoyable, and reasonably priced (around $110 to feed both of my parents, my brother, and me, with three appetizers) and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Seafood and happens to find themselves in Peabody.

This was suggested to us as the local's place to go and get seafood. I hope this isn't actually the case. It borders between super casual and run-down high school cafeteria. When you walk in, you immediately order from a board on the wall, which can be disconcerting. They give you a number and you find a 1960's faux wood booth of your choosing to await the arrival of your food. The waitresses that come around are extremely nice and attentive ( also the only reason this merits an additional star) providing water and anything else you need. I ordered the lobster pie. I thought it would kinda be like a lobster pot pie... but nope. It was bread crumbs and small amounts of over-cooked lobster (which my husband has deemed lobster bubble gum due to the chewy, rubbery consistency), drenched in butter and baked. Look, I'm pregnant and from the Midwest and this was too rich for me. After about 4 bites I was left feeling full and about to have a heart attack. It has no real flavor except a vaguely fatty, buttery gook. My husband got the clam chowder and fish special, broiled haddock. The clam chowder had very little clam in it, and he had to properly season it with a bit of salt and pepper to even get it to the proper flavoring. The haddock was okay, served skin on, but the skin was soggy so he had to peel it off. All in all, for the cost it was the worst place we ate on vacation, 2 stars only because the waitresses were so sweet.

When you want that melt watering fresh from the boat LOBSTA, then head over to Seawitch. Casual atmosphere. You order your items before you sit down and the wait service brings your food to the table. Very good for families and also our fellow KIND FRIENDS who needs some fresh seafood after their smooth smoke.

This place is awesome. I love the rustic order at the counter and sit down & eat. Had the best scallops I have ever had in my life. Their clam chowder was tasty as well. The lobster was market price and flavorful. The Staff was quick & friendly, the girl at the counter was a little flirt, no complaints! I will be back!
