came here on a sunday night. great ambiance. they had a blues band playing, but they are a bit too loud and my friends and i were trying to shout over the music. funny, i'm from LA and they were playing the Lakers championship game on tv but no one could care less.

I really want to give this place 2.5 stars-3, but I just can't for the following reasons: -Weak, Expensive Drinks (A gin and soda was almost $9) -The bartender was super unfriendly -It was really dead in there, but in all fairness, it was a Wednesday evening. The reasons I would come back: Karaoke. The guy running karaoke was super friendly and I really like sound system. Only downer is the monitor, which sits on the floor, making it hard to read the lyrics and sing to a crowd...if there was one ;-) Cute little bar though =)

I'm giving this three stars, but it might have four star potential. I went there on Labor Day with my boyfriend. It was pretty empty, but still nice since they have big open windows and we were able to sit right in front of them. I thought it would be so-so food and good service, but it was the opposite of what I expected. I got the chili and the spinach salad and my boyfriend go the fish and chips. We were very happy with the food, but the server was not friendly. It wasn't until we paid the bill and I asked her if it was the same Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Square that she seemed to warm up slightly, but it really wasn't much and way too late in the game. So I give a 4 on the food and a generous 2 on the service. It's close to home and I will give it another go, but will make a point not to sit at her station or try eating at the bar.

This is the best pub in the area. Staff are incredible and it is a great place to hang out for a beer with our infant in the early evening and feel at home. It was great before kids and is still amazing now that we have the little one. In addition to their beers on tap, good burgers and fish and chips.

Don't order the Sunday night "Prime rib $9.95 special" if you are expecting roast beef. I guess it might be prime rib, but it is not roast beef. They saute it in a frying pan so it comes out tasting like pot roast. If you expect pot roast, it is ok. Also, they can't make it rare or medium rare.

Congratulations, Tommy Doyle's, for breaking my 20+ year stint of being a vegetarian by ignoring my request for a breakfast burrito with NO MEAT yesterday. After 2 bites, I was alarmed & disgusted to find a huge chunk of sausage in my mouth! Yes - you comped my meal, but you cannot take back that disturbing experience. Vegetarians - stay away from this place. The waitress was nice & apologetic, but the kitchen staff are apparently not very bright or don't give a crap about the customers. Shame on you, Tommy Doyle's!

Went last week while waiting for my car to be serviced at Paul's foreign auto (walkable). Was not wanting brunch or other full meal once I saw they had fried pickles and baked soft pretzels! I love pickles and since being down south have not been able o find good ones up here. They were fantastic! As were the baked pretzels with grain spicy mustard. Also had a bloody mary asked for it extra spicy. Yummy! The bartender was very friendly and we chatted about my car and finding good mechanics. I will definitely return to try some real food (and get more fried pickles!). Didn't feel comfy with a 5 star based on what I ordered but after a future visit and a real meal may edit.

Went here for brunch. Our server was one of the best I've had in a long time! She was fun, friendly and on top of things. Their blood mary's are amazing!! Made from scratch and really hit the spot! Had the fish and chips, very light and tasty. Would definitely go back! Friends loved their Eggs Benny and Irish Brek!

They have a good beer selection and the owner/bar tender is friendly. I'm not the nuts about the food. It's average pub grub, but nothing I crave and go there to get. There is usually a good crowd of locals, especially when there is a big sporting event on. But it seems a bit TGI Fridays/Pub-in-a-box. It doesn't have the feel of a pub that's been around a long time and naturally collected all of it's decorations.

Tommy Doyle's has good food, especially as far as Irish Pubs sometimes go. The portions are generous, and the prices are decent. It's a good evening hangout, and I haven't ever seen it too crowded, though I've also never been late on a weekend night. My favorite dish is the corned beef. There's nothing super special about it, but it's cooked well, and it's exactly what you want if you're ordering corned beef. I've had a few different appetizers and have never been disappointed. The beer selection is good, and they've always got specials, which I've liked so far. I went once with my parents, who don't drink enough beer to give specifics on what they do and don't like, and they were both very happy with our server's recommendations. The atmosphere is fine- it's nothing special, but there's nothing to complain about either (*except one time I went, when a bartender/waitress decided to stay when she was off, got tipsy, and was the loudest person in the bar- not the bar's fault, but perhaps their employees should leave or control themselves after work). It's fun enough, though, and they have something going on most evenings after 10. Just a heads-up: they don't take out-of-state IDs, so if you're new in town or visiting from somewhere else, make sure you have a passport or something similar. In all, while Tommy Doyle's isn't necessarily something I'd rave about, I'd recommend it to people looking for a good Irish pub outside the city.

The atmosphere is great and the service is excellent. If you're looking for Irish Pub food, I don't know of many places better in the area. The price could be cheaper but you get what you pay for in that the service is friendly and the food is awesome.

Nice atmosphere, windows open up onto the street ,best seat in the house. Pretty good food. They also serve brunch on Sundays which is very good! They have fun events like karaoke on some nights.

I had the fish 'n chips and it was excellent. It was lightly breaded, flaky, and wasn't greasy. My bf had the beef stew and it was also yummy and piping hot, so check the temperature before shoving a spoonful into your mouth. The service was also great too.

Tommy Doyle's is the easiest place for me to get to on my way home from work. Its your standard Irish Pub and has a lot of locals. The food is good, if you know what to get. The prices are fine though I wish they had a little heavier of a pour. Recommended: Anything on the Chef's section of the menu with the Shepperd's Pie being especially good. The burger is solid too. Chicken Noodle Soup when they have it Not Recommended: Chicken Cordon Blue - It's terrible. I haven't ventured much out of the Chef's selections since but the feeling I get is that sticking to the Irish fare is a good idea. The service is decent but can be a little hit or miss. The bartenders are largely engaged with the regulars. That's fine and fun until I need to cash out and they're carrying on at the other end of the bar.

Great food and reasonably priced! I had the shepherds pie and cider! My girlfriend had the Irish Stew. Both dishes were delicious! The staff is really Irish and friendly. I will be going back!

Just moved into the neighborhood about 6 months ago and this was our first stop. Every time we stop here my wife and i are impressed with the service here. The waitresses remember our names and practically our orders (bc we are creatures of habit) every single time. Priced reasonably and the food always lives to expectations. Strongly recommend this joint for the following reasons: 1. great service 2. great portions 3. cool environment We usually go for lunch or dinner i still have to try the brunch.

Tommy Doyles is our office away from the office. If you are a tippingpoint labs client then you've been here before. If you're not a tippingpoint client maybe you should be. Then we can take you to lunch at Tommy D's as we call it. The beer flows free. The service is always friendly- Emmet, Trisha and Jen always treat us like friends and the food is pretty good. I always recommend the ranch wrap. Have a good time at Tommy Doyles.

Marginally better than west street, but still pretty crappy. If you want a good Irish pub go to o'haras or dunn and gherin. The lake is lacking a good Irish place sorely. The only reason i've gone here repeatedly is they have karaoke and trivia. The food is mediocre and overpriced. Ive had the tips, fish, salads, and a bunch of apps. Some were passable but overall they get a "Meh" grade.

Any place that serves up nice cold pints of Harp gets a thumbs up from me. This place is just like a pub from back home. Bottles, beer mats and pictures cover almost every inch of the wall. The menu is pretty nice too. We had already eaten before we came here but when i saw garlic mushrooms on the menu i couldnt resist! They were stuffed with cheese as opposed to liver pate like back home but thats ok. They have a DJ on friday nights but based on last weeks turn out for him, he might not be there much longer.

I was pleasantly surprised by Tommy Doyle's. I admittedly did not want to come here and put my husband off for a few months. He went with other people- friends, father, etc but alas, I still refused. I'm glad I gave in! The food was tasty, and there was a good selection of options including some items that you can definitely lighten up (which I am always looking for). The servers have been friendly and welcoming. This restaurant makes us both happy, which you can't beat.

Real, authentic Boston-Irish food. I love their corned beef sandwich, the only place I know around that uses tender chunks of red beef instead of the thin shaved grey stuff. The cheeze is melted perfect and the bread is lightly tosted with big steak fries on the side. A real Irish-American lunch. Great clean atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Fast service. Accurate orders. I love this place.

The food itself, was your above average pub-grub, but the service was where the 5-star review comes into play. I hadn't been to Tommy Doyle's in years, but my husband and I decided to go somewhere different for lunch. They have great front window that open to the side walk and we sat at a high-top near the bar. Fred, our bartender, was amazing. He was friendly without being overbearingly so. The restaurant was expecting an incredibly large party that was going to take over one half of the restaurant, but our food was delicious and timely and the beers were quick to be refilled. Fred even gave me a small sample of a beer I hadn't had which was awesome. Bottom line - my husband and I were impressed with our overall visit, but especially the service. We'll be back.

Now I may be biased because they sponsor my softball team, but this is a really chill and relaxed place. I've never once seen it crowded (which actually makes me feel bad) which was amazing on karaoke night (Saturday I think) because out group got up to sing about 10 times. We sang to an essentially empty room, mind you, but that may have been due to our singing ability, not the bar atmosphere. I'm not crazy about the fact that I can't get a pitcher of beer here (what can I say...I love to share!) and the prices can get a little steep. But the food is always tasty, the service friendly, and parking has always been a cinch. SO much better than the other Tommy Doyle's it's ridiculous.

This would be four stars if it weren't for the trivia night. This is the shadiest stump trivia venue in greater Boston. Even the jockey is in on it. It's blatantly obvious he caters to friends and people he knows when teams have more points that are conceivably possible to attain after certain rounds. In addition, the quicker your smartphone, the greater your chances of victory, it's the wild west of stump....anything goes .

A couple years ago when my friend lived in Watertown he, along with his wife, took me out to dinner here. I had a very enjoyable time and remembering leaving very happy. Since then I haven't had much of a chance to return to Tommy Doyle's even when I moved to the area about a year ago. So, last night my best friend and I had some time away from our significant others and decided to meet here for dinner after work. Finding parking along Watertown Street was tricky, I had to keep my eyes peeled for a spot and be ready to park quick! Luckily I found a spot not too far from the restaurant about a block away. When we arrived at the doors shortly before 6pm I expected for a bit of a wait being it was a Friday night. Thankfully we were seated right away an earshot away from the bar. Customers began coming in and within about 20 minute the restaurant was just about full. Tommy Doyle's attracts all kinds of customers: working professionals, college students, families, etc. Our waitress came over, gave us a pair of menus, asked us what we would like to drink and said she would return shortly to take our orders. It was difficult coming to a decision because the menus has lots of great options to choose from. My eye jumped from Chicken Kiev to the NY Sirloin to the various choices of hamburgers. Coming to a choice wasn't easy but I was in the mood for a juicy hamburger and asked for "The Kingdom Burger." My friend had "The Hill 16." Each burger was perfectly cooked to our liking and came with a serving of hot french fried spuds. As we sat drinking our Sam Adams beers, eating burgers I couldn't help but notice that this is a great place to come. The atmosphere is clean, staff is friendly and everything is reasonably priced. Tommy Doyle's is a great neighborhood restaurant and I'm very happy that it's less than 2 minutes from my house. I can expect to make more trips once the warmer weather arrives.

I went here on a sunday night with the gf and was surpised to find a band was plaing blues, rock and doing some kariokee. The band was good and people were really getting into it. The chili I order was epically bad. Like tomato sauce and very low grade meat. Not only was it canned chili but it was really bad canned chili. Not sure why they even put it on the menu if they're going to half ass it. Never going to order food here again cause either the chef is terrible or just non existent. Also waitress didn't ask why I hardly ate any of it. So the music and atmposphere were 5 stars and the food was 1 stars averaging out to 3 stars for tommy's.

Tommy Doyles is mine and my boyfriends local bar as we live walking distance from there. We love everything about the place, the waitstaff and bartenders are all top notch, especially Fred, Trish and Tim. It's great to walk into a place that you have been to a few times and be remembered. From the trivia, to the food, and most important the beer selection which is always rotating everything is top notch at Tommy Doyles. If we ever move, it will definitely be worth the drive to visit!

I live about spitting distance from Tommy Doyle's, so I've been there quite a few times now and love it. It's a nice little bar, not tons of space between the tables next to the bar and the bar itself, but if it's not super busy (which I'm pretty sure unless its' a Friday or Saturday night it won't be) it hasn't been a problem. Aand the back area has quite a few large tables with plenty of room. The food's really good. I've gotten quite a few different things and haven't had anything to complain about with any of it. First time, I got the Turkey Cobb wrap in a wheat wrap. AHmazing. Their 'house sauce' is some delicious combo of I think ranch and spices, and it's got a nice crunch to it with bacon and baby corn. I will definitely be getting it again. It also comes with either fries or a salad, both are good. Salad not too over dressed and the fries are steak fry-y. I've also gotten the quesadilla, the california wrap, and several other things I can't remember off the top of my head. They have a pretty good selection of beer since they've added a whole new row of taps. They also seem to have quite a few random beers that you might not find typically find on tap elsewhere. I've been into the Paulaner seasonal lately, and I can't seem to find it any many other places. I like that I can get a beer there that I won't find it any bar. They usually have really good live music, karaoke 2 nights a week, and trivia. Good happenings for a small place. Also, and this is heresay, I've heard that they give half off appetizers or something along those lines to sports teams that come in after games. I don't know if it's every day or just some days, but I've seen quite a few teams come in clearly post-game. It's something worth checking out if you play an adult league sport in the Newton area. All in all, I love Tommy Doyle's. The entire staff is really friendly, from waitresses to bartenders. The food is good and reasonably priced, as are the drinks.

I ate there last week and really enjoyed this place. My girlfriend had a pastrami sandwich and I had a pulled pork sandwich which was delicious. Both sandwich came with some big, thick steak fries which I like a lot more than the thin ones which most places serve. The food was good and hearty and portions generous. The waiter was a bit slow because he was alone and overwhelmed but he was very nice and friendly, and helpful on recommendations. The decor is nice and very Irish-oriented due to the fact that it's an Irish pub. Great place, and the prices are more than decent!

Horrible nachos, brutal shrimp cocktail, gross soups and a pretty ho-hum atmosphere. So why two stars? The service, outdoor seating, and decent drinks. Doubt I'll be back.

I can't believe I had never been here before! I wanted a decent place without too many loud mouth idiots to watch the Celtics playoffs. This place was perfect. Everyone was into the game but not obnoxiously so. The food was good, waitresses didn't pressure at all and most were full blood Irish themselves. Great atmosphere, great food, nice open layout too. Gotta give this place a try for dinner or a nice relaxed drink.

Completely forgot about this place until Friday night, glad it's back on our radar. Been here many times and we've had the curry fries, boiled dinner, shepherds pie and burgers- all of which are really good. The servers are great for the most part (some awesome, some ok), bar is relaxing and comfortable, plenty of TVs to catch the game.

My husband and I like to frequent trivia nights. Stump trivia there is great, as it always is, but the patrons are very smart. That isn't really a complaint, but we usually win at least third, so the extra money is nice, we just know not to expect it here. Went there a second time, first time was ok, but the second was inexcusable. Place wasn't crowded, so we sat at a booth. Before we could order, we were asked to move because a large party was coming in, so we agreed to move to the less comfortable, non-booth table next to the crowded bar. We partly agreed because they said they would comp our drinks for the inconvenience, they didn't! On top of that, that party never came in the whole two hours we were there for trivia. I also have a gluten allergy, so I asked the waitress if the steak tips were safe, giving her the run down on what type of ingredients contain gluten and to please ask the chef, etc. She said they were fine. They came out, ate about two, wasn't that impressed. Then she came out and said that they actually did have gluten.... A horrible night was made worse by me ending up on the toilet until 2am, thanks for a horrible night Tommy Doyle's!!!

Good neighborhood bar that serves a good pint of Guinness. What more do you really want? Burgers/ fish and chips are pretty good, the rest of the food decent but I am not sure one should expect more from the culinary giant that is Ireland (unless they start serving blood sausage). I'm not into trivia or karaoke, but they do have live music which is a plus and I can stumble home.

  • Burger G.

This is a local watering hole that also serves some food mostly from freezer to fryer to friend-like most pubs. Beer is cold and they usually have a couple rotating draft lines. Burgers are acceptable here and the fries generally satisfy. Curry fries are tasty and my wife loves the carbonara. Really guys, when the portions are so enormous you are just wasting money. You don't need to serve three meals worth of carbonara in one plate. People will still pay what you charge for a reasonable size. Take a look to see how many take away boxes you are packing for the eat-in diners. That is your money out the door.

Just discovered this place and I love it. The atmosphere is great and the food is solid. Order the Burger Club (medium) and the cobb salad in a taco shell. We found the waitstaff to be extremely helpful. BONUS: They were totally cool with us vaping our e-cigs at the bar and at a table.

Just a hop and a small skip from my place, Tommy Doyle's delivers on the neighborhood pub feel. We walked in around 8:30 on a Monday during trivia and had no problem getting a seat and getting served pretty quickly. The staff was super friendly and the decorations created the perfect setting. Plus, I'm a fan of anywhere that serves curry fries. Two thumbs up and a promise for a return visit!

I was in Boston for work staying at the Crowne Plaza on Washington and found out about Tommy Doyle's with a quick search on Yelp and we were not disappointed in the least! The food was phenomenal (I had the Donegal Scallops, my co-workers had the stuffed shrimp and shephard's pie) and a couple of pints of a beer. The staff was friendly and we were fortunate enough to stop in on a Tuesday for Open Mic night (which is sometimes nerve-wracking) but the two performers were great and provided an excellent ambiance to our warm Irish meal. I finished the evening with a Dinny's Deep Dish Apple Crisp (which I could have shared with my two other diners but gluttonously ate on my own!) I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, whether you're just visiting or live nearby!

Quiet. Beer. Sandwiches. TV. Happy Sunday at 1:00 PM. The place was empty, my friend and I sat wherever we liked (per instruction), got served right away by a very nice gal (Irish to be sure). I had a chicken parm sandwich, which may have left something to be desired, but the fries were awesome! the big fat steak-cut ones. YUM. My friend had the buffalo chicken sandwich. He seemed happy enough. What a lovely poor of Guinness! Try: Guinness and a sandwich (not chicken parm. Maybe a burger).

Only been here once, it was on a Sunday afternoon. I like the laid back atmosphere here. It has decent whiskey selection, and reasonable selection of beer on tabs. As a foodie, i will give this pub a 4 star for its tasty traditional Irish stew. It was cooked with lamb, potatoes, carrot, celery, and Guinness!!! Yummy!! I could see the image of myself enjoying this stew on a cold and dark winter day. BTW. it had soccer on TV, yeah!

They poured me a Pretty Things draught that was pure cloudy brown - exactly like an apple cider. I asked the bartender if he thought it looked normal and he shrugged. I didn't drink it AT ALL and it was still on the check. I've worked in the industry and understand that servers can't know or even be responsible for food/drink that isn't up to par. But they ARE responsible for managing how that sub-par food or drink is handled with a customer. Buh bye.

Always a solid local place to get food. It is usually our go to in the area when we don't know where to go. They always have a great rotation of beer and a nice cocktail list for a Irish pub.

Tommy Doyle's. What can I say about this place. This is one if those bars that you love. It is one of those places that changes your life. I've been a regular at Tommy D's for five years. I come once a week. On Tuesday. Tim Ko hosts the open mic. Great guy. Great guitar player.

A Story of Redemption: A little bird told me there were some major changes in the kitchen, so I thought I would give Tommy Doyle's another try. The good news: The staff and atmosphere continues to be wonderful. The place is always clean and comfortable. The better news: The kitchen has been rescued by a new chef, better food, and fancy square plates. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The steak tips were seasoned and cooked just as requested (medium rare). The vegetables were fresh, and the beer was COLD. Our meals were everything we wanted them to be. Its obvious the management cares about their patrons, and this new menu will surely keep them coming. Good job Tommy!

Tasty veggie burger for the vegetarians out there! I also had the fried pickles, and they were a little heavy on the batter (might have been in the deep fryer for too long) but also very yummy. They come with a delicious avocado ranch dip. The menu has a huge variety of options, and plenty of beers on tap. Service was very friendly but not the most attentive. I would definitely go back.

Rave, rave, rave.... I brought a group of 28 women in for a pit stop before heading to the Paint Bar. I had called ahead and told them we would be stopping in and that some women might want to order food. Not only were they ready for us, but everyone had time to order food and have a couple of beverages before we moved on. The food was great, the service was fantastic. Kudos to Tara and Roisin!!!! I have done several ladies' night trips and this was the best pit stop we have ever made!! Thank you!

Another reviewer said redemption, I don't know. The general manager sent me a $50 gift card for the evening managers rudeness. A free meal and still would rate one star. We were winning at trivia, until we found out the prize. Another gift card... Check please. Have not been back since. Too bad, it's in a great location and walking distance. In one word Bummer.

Love this place! Amazing beer menu which is updated often. I wouldn't say that fancy cocktails are their strong point - but I don't mind because the beer selection makes up for it. Food is really good - not your typical "bar food". I love the California Club sandwich. We live right down the street so it's our go-to place for an easy weeknight now.

I came here for lunch with a friend since we were in the area. I have been to the one in Kendall Square and always enjoyed it. It was very empty but we enjoyed the quiet since we were catching up. I ordered the reuben and it was rather good. It was warm, juicy, and a bit messy. I am not a huge fan of steak fries but these were not too mealy. All in all, it is a good place for some Irish bar grub and I am pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

Solid neighborhood bar for after-work drinks or lunch. I always get the potato skins which are crispy potato halves filled with melted cheese (not the nasty wiz kind) & bacon and come w/ sour cream and chives. I also like their burgers and their steak fries. Nice to sit by the large open windows when the weather is warm.

Went here for some after work drinks and food. It was smaller inside than I expected but not too busy. Beers weren't as cold as I would prefer and took longer than I figured it would for each round. Our waitress seemed baffled that we were only getting beer and appetizers, but isn't that a thing? The food was par pub grub. I enjoyed the popcorn chicken the most. Aside from the tiny little quirks it was a great time and fairly priced. I'll probably stop in again.

Was looking for a place to get steamed mussels while in the area. Used my Yelp app to help find TD's. Didn't realize it was Stump Trivia night. I stuck around while enjoying my mussels and clam chowder. Service was good. They were very nice. Unfortunately they don't have a grill grill. Just the flat grill like at Mickey D's. I wanted to order some wings grilled. Been to a few places who do that and they were awesome. I took a shot.

I have had a great time in here and had amazing food 9 times out of 10. The last trip thou was a failure. My meal was almost inedible and when the waitress asked I told her as much. Expecting a re-fire all I got was a "Sorry to hear that". That lack of a reasonable response left me unsatisfied and I don't expect to return anytime soon. I would have given it 4 stars because I have enjoyed myself and the food but that last visit cost it a star.

This place is our local go to place. The food is consistantly good, the service is friendly and fast, the prices are decent (they just changed the menus and raised the prices), the place is clean and the beer is nice and cold. My favorite dish is the fish and chips but Ive also had the grilled chicken sandwich, the burgers, nachos, potato skins, calamari and some other things and all if it has been fresh and tasty. I also like the looks of the place....with all of the photos and pictures on the wall there is always something to look at. There are enough tv's to watch whatever sporting event you are looking for but not so many that it's annoying or too loud. They also have decent entertainment every night of the week. They have Kareoke, open mic, live music, trivia and an awesome blue band on Sunday nights. All in all I love this place and will continue to frequent it as long as I live in the area.

This is our go-to date night location and we go once a week. Love the burgers, beer and chicken pot pie soup! Some of the wait staff is phenomenal (others are ok). They never knew our names even though we were regulars... Oh well, we'll miss our dive! (Try the curry for the fun of it!)

I went in with my sweetie early Friday evening. I had been there before for lunch and had a fabulous meal. I quickly found out that at night the place really pays more attention to the bar than the dinner service. The hostess sat us at a table for 4. A few minutes later they turned off the lights over the table. When we asked to move to a table across the isle that was better lit, they said we couldn't have that one because it was a table for 4. They did turn the lights up a bit after that. Then the waitress took our order for appetizers and drinks, and that was fine, but then our entree came no more than 3 minutes later. She said she would "keep this under the lamp" for us. How unappealing! Then, the waitress gave us the wrong check, which, to her credit, she apologized for. The whole time we were there, the wait staff did not seem to be interested at all. They did the bare minimum required and not much more. It could be so much better. The food is really good and the atmosphere is mostly great when they keep the lights on.

Just wanted to update because I think the food has gotten even better. I've tried a lot of different meals on the menu and have always been happy with the choices. They have flat screens that can be seen from anywhere in the bar too! No more old tvs with the Keno numbers burned into the screen. Still the same great service and karaoke nights are still a lot of fun.

It seems like every time I turn around there is a new Tommy Doyle's opening up. I used to come here frequently with friends for drinks, until I decided that I would try some of their food. I honestly don't understand why this place stays in business and continues to grow. The food is way overpriced, which is somewhat acceptable if it was good, but it's so bad, I just have to laugh when I get my check. What irks me is that they use really cheap, poor quality ingredients. Basically, if you just want to drink beer, or order something that is hard to mess up on, like fries, TD's is a decent place to go, but I wouldn't really experiment here--I now take my business elsewhere to the many other Irish-pub options in the area.

I love this place. Its about a mile walk from my apartment but even when its been super cold out my boyfriend and I have made the journey. This place is so relaxing and has really great food. We usually come and have dinner and then sit and relax and have a few drinks.

I am upping my score based on recent visits. It seems they have done a 180 since my last review in 2008. Food is much better than it used to be. My favorite is the fresh tasting broiled fish. Ask them to top with breadcrumbs and you will be glad. Vegetables are now fresh broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. A friend ordered clam chowder in mug and it smelled delicious. Other pub food like fries and burgers are okay. Steak platter was just so-so. Buffalo wings were adequate. Dessert was the popular hot and gooey chocolate brownie sundae with ice cream and whipped cream. I recommend. As always, lots of beer and parking. Service last few times was also exceptional.

Nice looking place with an easy going atmosphere. The service was a little slow but the bartender was the only server when we were there. I had the Bangers and Mash. It was okay, I've had better but I've had much worse. Pretty good beer selection on tap. I'd go again. Not cheap but not expensive either. I would like to check out the music to see how that is.

This was a nice neighborhood bar last time I was there a few years ago. Enjoyed the food and the brew. The patrons were friendly to me, even though I'm not from "The Lake". They seemed to know.

In my two years in Boston, this is definitely the best place I've found for having a consistently good time. Whether it is enjoying a pint with the guys or looking for a good late night party scene TDs never fails to deliver. The service is definitely exceptional as bar tenders and mangers alike will know your name after only a visit or two.

Had the worst possible experience here on Friday night. My friend only lives two blocks from there and she is a regular and she was embarassed at how bad the service and treatment was. We get there at 9:50pm and proceed to sit in a booth. The place was not crowded at all. The waitress comes up and asks us if we have other people who will be joining us. We tell her no and she said that we had to move to a table as she needed to save that for a larger group. I was shocked and surprised since there were lots of tables open and for her to ask us to move seemed bizarre. We soon found out that she was actually saving that booth for friends of hers. They walked in and it was clear they were all buddy buddy. The waitress was rude to us from the beginning. I ordered a wrap mainly because it had gaucomole in it. Well I got it and started eating it to find out that there was no gaucomole in it. I asked the waitress and she said "oh we might be out" and came back and said they were. That might have been info I would have liked to know before and I could have ordered something else. Then she removed my empty beer, but did not ask if I wanted another one. Overall it was a horrible experience and it was my first time there. I felt bad for my friend since she raves about the place and she kept apologizing for the service. She had never seen the girl that was waiting on us before.

Comfortable place, decent chow. They have live blues on Sunday evenings. I love the big windows in the front for nice days and there are always coupons for them in Clipper Magazine. Nice neighborhood pub.

My friends and I have been coming here for a few weeks for Monday trivia night. The service is great: very attentive and friendly. When it's busy, it can be understandably hard to flag someone down, but what do you expect? The food is pretty good: one of our favorite things is the curry. I ordered the curry fries on my first visit after reading about them here on Yelp and I was not disappointed: delicious, savory, salty but maybe ever-so-slightly-too-thin curry gravy served up with steak fries (which I ordinarily hate, but are not like most soggy steak fries I've encountered and take the curry very well). It's not one to miss, so I echo the sentiment that you must try the curry fries. I've had a few different things: the chicken curry is outstanding, with nice big chunks of breast meat, carrots, and peppers over rice. The shepherd's pie is fantastic and tastes appropriately homemade with an excellent mashed potato and cheddar topping to absorb the yum stew beneath. The garlic toast is a good side. I had a burger, but I wasn't very impressed with the burger itself; the meat was tough on my medium-rare burger, usually indicative of a pre-frozen patty which surprises me given the way other food seems to go there. Like Gordon Ramsay would probably demand, I much prefer a fresh, hand-formed burger at a restaurant or pub. If I wanted a frozen burger, I'll go to the Clown or the King. Hilariously, I'm not a beer or wine drinker, can't comment other than that the beer selection seemed kind of ho-hum or at least probably capable of providing beer drinkers with universally acceptable choices. It's very good for what it is: a bar serving food, *almost* worthy of four stars but not a place I'd go out of my way to eat at unless I had a specific goal (like bar trivia) or was in the area.
