The third star is for the view. The hostess is too young and very inefficient and slow, the table clearers our old Mexican ladies who are also very slow, I'm talking four minutes to set up a table for two people. The waitstaff and cooks are OK. The food is basic, uninspired, and my order was not quite correct, but certainly edible. Sad fact is they are probably the second or third best in town. Would be nice to have more than one kind of bagel, and muffins on the menu, perhaps I missed them. Nice view.

This place is always packed but the food is terribly overrated. The maple sausage, which they are known for, is a sugar patty of ground meat. There is so much sugar that the outside of it just burns when it cooks. There is no balance of savory and sweet, it's just sweet. The chicken fried steak was okay. The portions are ridiculously large. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself could use a thorough cleaning.

*** 3.5 stars for brunch at Stephan Anthony's *** On a Sunday morning at around 10 am, it was crazy crowded with packs of people waiting for a table. We waited 30 -40 minutes for a table for 4. I wouldn't say that Stephen Anthony's is so good that it's worth waiting for, but it's one of the few places in the area, and it's in a cool historical spot (I used to bike to the penny candy store next door when I growing up in Sudbury in the 80s). Although it took a long time for the food to come out, the service was otherwise great. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating and made the whole experience great. She also gave us an entire pot of coffee for the table rather than make us wait for free refills (points!). My parents had the vegetable egg white omelet, and they both finished off their entire plate and were fascinated and impressed by the whole "egg white" concept (they don't get out much). My sister had a special, pumpkin pancakes with turkey bacon and eggs, which she enjoyed but said weren't the best pumpkin pancakes that she'd had. I had the breakfast sandwich, which while it sounded amazing, was just way too greasy. The bagel was covered in grease and I had to wrap it in a napkin to pick it up. The maple sausage was very good, but too large for me as a proportion of the sandwich. Probably not a problem for most people. All in all it was a good meal and I would come back just because of it's convenient location, but not I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come back.

Hubby made me go again and things have not changed....is it so hard to make a good hash brown?! I asked for them crispy and buttery and they were not. My over easy eggs were over hard, ugh! The ham, on the other hand was really good! And the kids mini waffles were adorable and tasty! Please learn to make proper hashbrowns and I would be a loyal regular customer for life!

This is another local place I have been wanting to try for a while. All you ever hear is people raving about their homemade sausage......the sausage definitely lived up to all the hype! I came in for Sunday brunch around noon and the place was packed with a long wait! - good thing a friend came early and got our name on the list. This is a smaller restaurant all in one big open room. It is definitely not a fancy place but seems great for families and casual meals. The waitress we had was terrible. She was never around and took at least 20 minutes to bring back something you asked for - even something as simple as coffee creamer. There were a couple times we had to grab another waitress just to get a coffee refill. The food was all really good. I had a the Jamaican special that came with two eggs, coconut and banana french toast sticks and Jamaican jerk sausage. It was all really good and I love that you can get warm honey with the french toast or pancakes.

Have been for breakfast on weekend multiple times. It is the best thing they serve. It is a little worn out inside and dingy but I have enjoyed breakfast except on Mothers Day weekend it is cray cray that day. Stopped by because my daughters friend got a job here. The view is pretty if you able to get a seat by the windows. The breakfast we had was nothing special, just your average breakfast food. I had Belgian waffles and daughter had eggs and hash..The line wasn't long to get in, parking was a bit crazy - limited, service was friendly, pleasant, took a while for the food to come out - when it did my waffle was luke warm. For locals for bfast I guess this is place to go...
Went this morning after reading good reviews and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The place is is really clean and not like the typical greasy spoon you come to expect for breakfast. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the price very reasonable. Definitely recommended.

Went here seeking a hangover cure. Service was miserably slow, and not just because I felt like death. Supposedly the cooks were shoveling the parking lot. Priorities. Anyway, my lox and bagel was great and came with eggs, a bonus! It should have come with fruit, that in my deathly daze I neglected to realize it was missing. So Dawn E. recommended I make a stop on the way home (since I was taking Route 20 back) at this place. The Restaurant has a market next door that sells the stuff they serve. So the quest was sausage for the hubby and that was the reason for the stop. Again taking her advice, I got the maple sausage, which looks like a sausage meatball. I also got the Bratwurst and the hot Italian (it WAS a sausage). They also had a Buffalo Blue sausage (stuffed with meat and blue cheese with buffalo sauce) and the sweet Italian (which was sold out). The maple sausage was "freakin' amazing" as quoted by my husband. He was not impressed with the Brats but he did not boil in beer and peppers/onions, so not sure what he was expecting. The hot Italians I cooked up with peppers, onions in a balsamic glaze in a casserole-like concoction. DELISH - which is a word I hate to use, but it really was delicious.

I had a party of 4 - she called my name a couple walked up to her and without checking she just sat them - when I asked her about it she had to make them get up - so they walked out. Was uncomfortable! Service was very slow - the waiter then told us the kitchen was backed up - so meals took a while. Food was good when it arrived - i had the pumpkin pancakes - very very good! The food is so good - just the service is a bit lacking - you would think they would have extra staff on the weekends to keep up! Still worth going back though.

Surprisingly, though the parking lot was packed, we were seated right away. Came here for the maple sausage that everyone raves about. Then I saw "our famous corned-beef hash" on the menu, and had to try it. I'm a sucker for a good, house-made hash. I got a side order of the maple sausage, anyway. The sausage was great. A bit too sweet for me, perhaps, though it might have been better paired with something like french toast. The hash couldn't have been famous except for maybe being a famous national brand. It was obviously from a can - so disappointing! Eggs, however, were cooked perfectly, service was prompt and with a smile, and the coffee cups never got less than half-full. Avoid the hash, def go for the maple sausage if you're fond of sweet breakfasts.

Stephen Anthony's is a candidate for Restaurant Impossible. Despite its setting on overlooking a pond, it is dingy, dirty and uninviting. But it's close so we used to go there off and on. Then my husband got sick and our son, who ate the leftovers, also got sick. We stopped going for a long time and then decided to try it again. This time I ordered the grilled trout and was deathly ill for two days. I cannot recommend anything about Stephen Anthony's and we will never go back.

When you wake up on a Saturday/Sunday morning and just want good food without the headache of fine dining, this is the place to be. Stephen Anthony's makes solid breakfast (only been there for it) at a good price point. From their Western Omelet to Steak and Eggs, the meal is very good. Portion sizes are definitely brunch worthy, and most options come with toast and homefries. Given that the meal options come in at about $9-13/head, the prices are not bad at all. The quality of food is very good too. They have homemade maple sausage that is solid. The food is not very greasy, and the kitchen cranks out at a pretty good clip. Situated on the Marlborough/Framingham boarder, it pulls in a very good crowd on the weekends but waits never are longer than 20 minutes. Definitely the best breakfast option in the area.

I would travel across the state for their maple sausage. Boy is that stuff good, however, if they don't GET SOME NEW COFFEE, they won't be seeing me around much anymore. You can get the dark roast if you want something a little better. Long waits on the weekends and even when there arent many people there, it can take awhile for food to come out. I used to really enjoy this place, especially on a saturday or sunday morning. However, the last few times I came to grab some brunch I began to dislike the place more and more. I came with my friend a few weeks back and we both decided to order outside of the box and get an omelette stuffew with pulled pork, something I had never seen on a menu before. The pulled pork was actually good and even though it was weird to have in an omelette I enjoyed it. However, the egg itself was pretty bad and the service was highly lacking. I have been to this place a lot and its not a terrible choice by any means its just can be and has been better.

Went for breakfast on Labor Day, hadn't been here in a while so decided to come again. After putting our names in, it was about 5-10 minutes to wait. Not long at all. We were seated at one of our favorite tables facing the water, so we sat down with our menus. The waitress came up almost immediately and we ordered coffees. She came back with the coffee and we ordered our food. It was extremely busy, so it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. When the food came out it was cold. My bf, wasn't going to send it back but I told him I wasn't going to eat cold food. It was weird cause 15 minutes before our food arrived at our table the waitress stopped by to tell us it would be right out, so I can only guess she got caught up. As soon as we flagged down the waitress, explained the food was cold and we wanted it heated (and new waffles made since re-heated waffles are gross) she took everything away and they made all new food for us. We had it in about 5-10 minutes so it was great. The new food was hot and delicious. I applaud the manager and the waitstaff for making everything right with out any kind of a hassle.

We love this restaurant and go at least a couple of times a month but today was a little disappointing. I ordered the stack of three pancakes, and one of the pancakes was very burned. And I kind of feel like the kitchen tried to hide it, because it was on the bottom, and this has also happened to my daughter in the past. Before I knew it was burned, I had put butter on the top two pancakes. When I lifted them to put butter on the bottom one, a burnt smell immediately came up, and I could see it was a very dark brown. I took one bite to see if it was okay to eat, and it tasted awful. I took it off my plate and put it in a separate dish to ask for a new one, and as the waitress was walking by she actually said "that's burnt, I'll have the kitchen make you a new one". So I find it very unpleasant that the waitress knew on sight there was a problem, yet the kitchen put it on my plate, at the bottom where it was less visible. We also were disappointed in my husband's maple sausage breakfast sandwich. The sausage itself only filled about half the bites. The rest were bread and egg. I gave my husband some of my bacon to add to his sandwich. We love it here so we will definitely give it another try. But too many visits like this and we will find a new breakfast spot.

Honestly, this place kind of sucks but we've been dealing with it for years since there are so very few restaurants around. One time, we had a party of 12, and we were waiting on 2 of our guests. The other 10 were already there. They put together a table for us, and told us we couldn't be seated until the last 2 people arrived. They would rather have the table for 12 sitting there looking empty then to free up some room in their (tiny) waiting area by letting TEN people sit down. What type of logic is that?? The managers' logic!!! Not to mention, the manager is familiar with my family and knows we could in there often. It's like he was TRYING to lose business. Anywho, I haven't been back since and I will try to avoid it by all costs. At least until we get bored of the other restuarants in the area and some how find my self back at Stephen Anthony's.

Short wait? This was the longest wait ever. Food is decent, been here before, home cooked. However I cannot suggest Steven Anthony's for a large group. Been there before with a large group. Today was different. I called on Friday to see if I could get a reservation for fathers day. They do not accept reservations but I was told they are very accommodating for large parties. We arrived at 9:30 a.m. We were seated at 10:45, a party of 9. About six groups were ahead of us on the waitlist and the 15 that came in after us were all seated before us. We were literally the last one standing. No acknowledgement, no apology. When we left, nothing. I asked them at about 9 50 am I was told the large party in the back had their check and we were just waiting for them to leave. This is not where they sat us ultimately . I went back in at 1030 and asked if they could just nudge them along, the mail host just laughed in my face. Three of the meals , omelets came out cold, obviously more waiting. And my decaf coffee request was delayed 2 times. Other than that an OK place to eat. I just won't be coming back anytime soon

My favorite meals is breakfast. Eggs benedict is my favorite meal for breakfast. Here's my experience ordering and eating said meal at this restaurant. I arrived with my husband and put our name in. They took two groups of the same size who put their name in after us. When we were seated, no one came by even to offer us coffee or water. Its an "old foggy" type of establishment, (Hey and I'm a young old foggy of mid century-ish type!) dingy, but they serve a LOT of food for little bucks. Good value. I tried a johnny cake, because my ex has raved about them, and to tell you the truth, I found it pasty, with a plastic-y aftertaste (not sure if I'm doing that justice). We didn't have a wait (we open tabled!) and service was SLOOOOOOWWWW, but all in all, diner-type food, lotsa food for very little dead presidents, and HEY someone else did the dishes!

Ok. I am upping them by a star, grudgingly. My food has been delicious the last few times I've gone,and that is the only reason. It still took almost 45 minutes for it to show up (yes, I timed it), and by the time brunch rolls around, I am hungry and bitc*y. The owner... Oh he just doesn't seem to care and is very dismissive and slightly unpleasant. I've gone so many times expecting something else, that I'm just giving that one up now. Ha ha. Maple sausage sandwich on a bagel. Yum! Perhaps a little overpriced considering you don't get potatoes with it (Paid $3.95 for has browns - what?!), but it really is delicious. Carla almost always gets the Western sandwich, and this time, it was freakin' huge. Our friends Mary and Judie had lunch stuff and enjoyed that as well. I tasted Judie's turkey club, and it was yummy. If the owner and timing were better, I'd probably give them 4 stars, but for now it's a 3.

sure, 4 solid ones and you know what, i bet they might get a 5er on the next trip back. so puesdofathersday (early!) breakfast with the whispers of MAPLE SAUSAGE and a waffle on the horizon. service was quick with a capital F for fast, and let me tell you, with a 16 month old in tow, thats the best thing you can get under those circumstances. mer got chocolate chip pancakes, i, tis waffle with said sweet meat. was i impressed? well sort of. i literately inhaled the whole thing in a 'taste it later soldier' kinda way. although the had an extensive kids menu, we opted for the fruit cup for the little guy, but it did little for him, but he did enjoy chomping on their crayons. i drank copious amounts of coffee before i even got there so i cant vouch for the joe, but mer enjoyed her readily refiled decaf. I think i kinda like it here..

It's interesting, reading most of the other reviews, it seems that Stephen Anthony's is a favorite breakfast joint--hadn't been aware of that! We've been twice now, both times for an early dinner. We were all very impressed with the food at both visits. On our first visit, we ordered the calamari appetizer, and it was exquisitely cooked -- so crisp and light and tender! We tend to use calamari as a quality check for "is this a good restaurant?" so it was a promising start! Dinners are served with a free bread basket and whipped butter. The rolls are definitely homemade, really crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. For the actual entree, I've had both the salmon with rice pilaf, and a plain old cheeseburger (they let you substitute other sides instead of fries no charge -- woot!). Both were great! Salmon was nice and juicy, the burger likewise. My husband raved about his maple-sausage stuffed chicken and seriously grieved when he accidentally dropped his leftover box on the way up the steps when we got home -- no awesome lunch for him the next day. :( Oh, that's the other thing I should mention, their portions are quite sizeable! So overall, I recommend them for the homey kid-friendly atmosphere and good food. All you breakfast people, try visiting for dinner sometime...and maybe we'll have to visit sometime for breakfast to see what that's all about!

Better breakfasts along ROute 20 at the Big Apple Deli and the Sunnyside Cafe and the Garden Party Benedict served on weekends at Sergios is to die for.

I'll start with the good....AMAZING breakfast food! Absolutely delicious! My husband always gets the maple-bacon sausage and Country Benedict, and LOVES it. This last visit I got a spinach and Gorgonzola omlette...perfection! Ok, now for the bad...and it's bad. The wait is always ridiculous on Sundays. The service is terrible. We almost left because, even grabbing 2 seats at the bar, it took over 1/2 hour to get our food. Then the exclusions...they were out of one of the specials, they were out of bananas, and the kicker??? They were out of CREAM CHEESE!?! REALLY? I was told this after I ordered a bagel, mind-you. I can't give it less than three stars, because the food we did finally receive was so good, but we almost left because of the wait and bad service.

One of my favorite movies growing up was Back to the Future. Unfortunately, I do not have a quirky Doc that I am friends with nor do I own a DeLorean but Stephen Anthony's is a nice alternative. The place seems like a relic of a bygone era with its walls adorned with historical advertisements, pictures, and newspapers. It really feels like the folks on Rte. 20 could have just as easily have dined here over an open hearth 100 years ago. It's homey and cozy - so if that's ideal for you, you will appreciate the restaurant. Urban and hip it is not. I have only been here for brunch but the menu is large, the specials are always delicious and mouth watering, and the price is right. I've had various entrees here over the last year or so from stuffed french toast (excellent) to hash and eggs (also good). We've has the occasional blip of subpar food but overall you know what you're going to get. A definite step above the chain restaurants like IHOP or dare I even usher the name Denny's. I suggest trying some of the specials or the Johnny Cakes - which aren't available everywhere but are quintessential New England. Prices are more than reasonable. Also - get there early or be prepared to wait (Brunch).

I have been eating here for many many years now, and this is why I kept coming back after each bad experience. Sadly the last time we ate here - will be the very last time we eat there. The only thing consistent about Stephen Anthony's these days is the bad service and filthy maple syrup tables. I'm fairly certain the dish washer is blind as you never get clean silverware or glasses - the wait staff is forever harried and treat you as though you woke them from a sound sleep in the middle of the night and forced them to cook you breakfast. On our last visit - post the obligatory sending back of our dirty utensils - and the waitress extremely curtly taking our order our food came abnormally fast - because it wasn't what we ordered at all. I politely agreed to keep this wrong dish since it was somewhat close to my order- but requested that the waitress please just bring me the well done maple sausage I requested as well - sadly for my husband he had to send back his blueberry pancakes because he prefers them without HAIR. When the waitress walked by again 15 minutes later - me still without the sausage and my now ice cold eggs congealing in front of me - and my husband still with no replacement hair free pancakes... I stopped her to say, "will my husband's pancakes be much longer, and could I please get my well done sausages as well" - her response "What sausages" needless to say at this point I was more than ticked off since this is now going on the third time I'm ordering them. I very politely attempted to explain her mistake and she wanted no part of the conversation, instead cutting me off to tell me how she has a larger party and WALKED AWAY - my husband and I left the cold eggs on the table and walked out - good job Stephen Anthony's - you managed to lose a customer who has been eating there for close to 25 years.

Just saying the name "Steven Anthony's" makes me salivate for breakfast. I don't mix it up at this joint, no way, I go straight for the maple sausage breakfast. It is amazing... homemade sausage, 2 eggs cooked any way you like, and toast. You want to eat the maple in as many bites as possible and as slowly as humanly possible. I moved from Framingham to Norwood a few years back and this breakfast is probably the only thing I miss.... The food, in my opinion, is worth the wait. I used to go here all the time but the last few times we have gone we have had the worst waitresses and the owner just seems to walk around doing nothing. Not sure what happened to the good waitresses but it's not worth the drive anymore

I've been coming to Stephen Anthony's for years but since I've only expereinced breakfast that is all I will be commenting on. The restaurant has an expansive open feel and I usually try to get a booth with an ocean view. Well Hagar pond is far from an Ocean but you can get lost watching the ducks and swans swimming around this questionably clean body of water. The service is slow in the majority of times I've had breakfast there but who enjoys a rushed breakfast anyways and it allows more time to familiarize yourself with the local wildlife outside the windows. Breakfast is the typical faire with good sized portions and prices are reasonable. I do love their French toast which I would have just about any day of the week...and the French toast made with Italian bread is by far the best although cinammon raisin is a close second. So I'd definiteley come back and perhaps will one day try dinner and be able to give a more well rounded review of this restaurant,

I went for breakfast this morning with my son on the way to school. It wasn't busy at all - maybe three or four tables besides ours. It took kind of a long time for our food to arrive, maybe 15 minutes or so, which is a long time at breakfast. I ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs and was disappointed to find the yolks completely cooked. I assume poached eggs would have runny yolks, but perhaps I should have specified that's how I wanted them. The silver dollar pancakes my son ordered (6 in a kid's order) were much bigger than expected - more like saucer-sized than silver dollar. But he liked them well enough. From looking at other reviews, I was clearly supposed to order the maple sausage and may go back for that; otherwise I think it was just mediocre.

Went back for Mother's Day breakfast. I ordered the waffles with apple crisp, not realizing that this meant an actual slice of apple crisp on top! OMG. Had to say a few Our Fathers and Hail Marys afterwards, but the light, crisp waffle with the warm delicious dessert on top was worth it! My boy gobbled down a slice of french toast, bacon, some sausage and his fruit cup, barely looking up from his plate until it was empty. Nice. Service was good despite the massive holiday crowd. And I was offered coffee refills 4 times. What more can I say - this place wins for breakfast in the Framingham area.

I'm hunkered down for the next 24-36 hours trying to get through this Hurricane Sandy business. I've got all the lights on and the heat turned up to 75 because I want to enjoy it while it lasts. With all the wind and rain and impending darkness, I can't help but think about how awesome the Macaroni and Cheese with Ham is at this place. It's the perfect goddamn dish. It satifies every food craving you will ever have in one goddamn plate. It's the balls. Don't let the appearance of the water damaged tiles inside fool you, this place is amazing for breakfast. The ambiance is hands down spectacular when you approach it, it sits on a small lake that happened to have several geese out in the fog. Very charming. The food and service were just as amazing. I ordered johnny cakes (a northeast must) and the Filet Benedict. I have never had a breakfast so over the top. The Filet was perfectly grilled to a medium rare and I was surprised at just how good hollandaise is with steak. The Johnny Cakes were top notch. I am sure that regardless of what you order here it will be amazing.

This was my second trip to this restaurant both have been for breakfast. I got the Sausage Sampler breakfast on this trip. Stephen Anthony's makes their own sausage and they have three varieties.Tomato Basil, Turkey, and Maple. All were pretty good although the maple is the best with breakfast. The breakfast also had scrambled eggs, home fries, English muffin and coffee. The rest of the breakfast was also good and there was more than enough for one meal.

On Sunday morning, my mom bought breakfast for my husband and I, and we went to Stephen Anthony's. I had the maple sausage breakfast, which was really delicious and possibly the best sausage I've ever eaten. This breakfast was $8.95 and was like a feast, with a huge piece of sausage, home fries (although slightly burned, pretty good redskins), an English muffin, and two eggs, any way you would like them. Momma had French toast and the husband had one of the breakfast combos. I was very tempted to order the stuffed Italian toast, with mascarpone and strawberries, but I chose the sausage instead. I'll have to go back sometime. On a side note, my husband and I went here once before for dinner and I can't speak too highly about it. Definitely go for the breakfast.

Best thing: Homefries. They were crunchy and tasty. I didn't like tiny cups for the coffee. I need a lot of coffee to get me going on Clock Change Day. The maple sausages were pretty yummy, but I can get better. But if you go, do try them. If you order them as a side, be warned that you get two, and that's pretty much a meal, right there. In fact, it was my meal. Homefries and sausage. I've been full since. I'll do penance tomorrow and eat salads and such.

I really love this place. I have only been for breakfast but I hear the dinner is fantastic as well...apparently they serve a good steak. They make their own sausage and offer sausage breakfast specials (maple, honey mustard, choriso, Chinese, Italian...). Delicious. The maple sausage is amazing, I always get the Maple Sausage Breakfast. The sausage sandwich is also a delight. I recently started taking some friends there and they love it too. It's very popular so expect a bit of a wait on the weekends. It's also right next to a candy store, an antique store, a bakery, a general store, and a pond where about 100 ducks/geese hang out. You can feed the ducks, or watch them cross the street.

Went for dinner on Saturday night. The dining room was almost full when we got there and had to wait 10-15 minutes for a booth. When we were finally seated we noticed that there was a party of 20-25 people celebrating a family birthday and the rest of the tables were full too....there were two servers in the entire room, including one who was also serving as bartender. Needless to say our service was slow and spotty. We had to corral the server to ask if we could order an appetizer. We also had to ask for bread plates, which never came. Also, my husband ordered a drink which had to be requested twice before it came. I ordered steak tips medium rare and they arrived well done. The server was very gracious in removing the plate from the table and assured me they would be redone, which they were and arrived cooked appropriately the second time around. At the end of the meal the manager/owner came to table and apologized for the incorrectly cooked meat and I told him I saw that the servers were over their heads and that our server was slow because of it, but that it improved towards the end of the meal after the large party of 25 left. He said "well as long as everything ended well..." I found that response a little inappropriate since I was basically telling him we felt short changed in the service dept. When the check arrived we noticed that my meal was not on it and we thought that was very gracious of them to comp my meal based on the steak tips being overdone ,the slow service, etc, but just then the server raced over to our table, saying the bill was incorrect and had to be done over.....so much for comping the meal....the food was tasty overall and a fair value for the price, but they need to learn how to properly service their customers if they hope to remain open in a very competitive market area.

This was my favorite breakfast place until yesterday morning when the owner of the restaurant showed incredible rudeness and inhospitality towards my friends and I. It was a cold, rainy, snowy Sunday morning and a group of us wanted to get breakfast+lunch. One of our friends was going to be late and she told us to go ahead and start without her. We asked to be seated so that we could start ordering, and the owner informed us that it was not allowed. He said that if there was a wait, she would not be able to sit with us once we sat down. We told him that she would be atleast 20 minutes, and that we'd like to start eating. He said that she would still not be able to sit with us, and that HE'D PUT HER AT HER OWN TABLE once she got there! There was no line at 1:30 in the afternoon, we were standing by the door with cold air blowing in, and we were starving. We made the decision to go somewhere else to eat. I informed the owner of this decision, and his response? "Sorry. That's been our policy for 23 years." Um hello? Just because you've been doing something for 23 years does not mean it is the right thing to do! I know that normally restaurants do ask that everyone be present before seating the party, however, in special circumstances, or if one person is going to extremely late, I have never had a problem getting a table. He turned 6 people away from a meal at his restaurant. Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" Especially in this economy! Funny thing is...two of my friends absolutely hated this place the last time they went, and my bf and I raved about it so much that they decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately after yesterday's experience, NONE of us will ever be going back!

This place is great! we always have nice servers, and the food is always awesome, it's not a fancy room that you dine it, it needs renovations, and reminds me of restaraunts in Maine. But I happen to like that feel. kinda old school decor with old photos on the wall, and comfy booths to sit in. I always get steak here and it is well worth the price. I don't know why it isnt more popular than it is. It doesnt hurt that we always get seated right away. But I want to see this place thrive! Wow. What an interesting place. The drive there was worth it and it was a beautiful fall day. Very kid friendly. Very good food. The girls had pancakes and mini waffles which they gobbled up. I had the apple crisp waffle that was very tasty (loved the apple, but the topping wasn't crunchy like I'm used to). My husband had the venison and sausage. Never having tasted it before, he was happy with it (though the onions weren't really 'carmelized'. They also offer homemade sausage that seemed interesting. We'll have to try it next time. The prices were very affordable. Coffee was OK. A plus was that afterwards, we walked to the gazebo and watched the geese, swans and ducks swim around the pond. Overall, very creative menu - so many possibilities.

This place is incredible for breakfast. If you're headed east out of Boston, this is the place to stop for a bite to eat before you get on the Turnpike. It's just amazing. The sausage is delicious, the eggs are fresh, the coffee is good, there's a view of a pond out the back windows, and it's big enough so that it doesn't get horribly crowded. The service is great, everyone is friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough--it's just incredible. There's also an antique store and a country store-type place right next door. I usually stock up on maple sugar candy for the long drive ahead. Look out for the ducks in the parking lot; they are fearless!

Went here for Sunday breakfast. They were busy (5 minute wait). . . it was OK. Meaning, I'll go back for breakfast, but it's just a busy dive. I had the breakfast burrito (unwrapped because I don't eat wheat) the sausage had spice (a plus) but I could see the oil: gross. There was maybe a slice of cheese (hey, the perks of unwrapping your food!) and maybe one egg. I usually apprecaite it when things are not egg heavy but this one could have used a bit more egg. I found it odd that there wasn't a side of salsa, sour cream or guac: not even ON the menu. I did ask for a side of sour cream and it was received. My breakfast companion had 2 eggs/toast/sausage. Each serving was at proper temperature. Ok, so you are aksing why not any more stars? Try getting a beverage. I had to ask 3 times for water, for my diet coke, and my friend kept having to ask for milk for her tea. Yes, I get that you are busy, but that is serving 101. Plus our server never came back to see if everything was OK stopping only by to drop off their check. Yes, I still get you are busy . . . . and we still tipped you 20% and/but ... I'll go back but I'll be more attune to flagging down when my glass is 1/2 full.

Conveniently located in a quaint reconstructed village by Henry Ford on the Marlborough/Sudbury line, this restaurant shares an antique motif with an adjacent antique shop, candy store and general store, and is next to a small pond with ducks, geese and a swan. The decor is rather Thomas Kinkade-like, and the food, while not terrible, is nothing too special, just eggs (brown overcooked) and other breakfast fare, not unlike Friendly's. The staff is friendly enough but the service has been slow. I can't put my finger on it, but even though it is around the corner, I still don't go there, and I usually like quaint breakfast places. Yelp makes two stars seem like an indictment, but it isn't really, just faint praise.

The third star is for the view. The hostess is too young and very inefficient and slow, the table clearers our old Mexican ladies who are also very slow, I'm talking four minutes to set up a table for two people. The waitstaff and cooks are OK. The food is basic, uninspired, and my order was not quite correct, but certainly edible. Sad fact is they are probably the second or third best in town. Would be nice to have more than one kind of bagel, and muffins on the menu, perhaps I missed them. Nice view.

This place is always packed but the food is terribly overrated. The maple sausage, which they are known for, is a sugar patty of ground meat. There is so much sugar that the outside of it just burns when it cooks. There is no balance of savory and sweet, it's just sweet. The chicken fried steak was okay. *** 3.5 stars for brunch at Stephan Anthony's *** On a Sunday morning at around 10 am, it was crazy crowded with packs of people waiting for a table. We waited 30 -40 minutes for a table for 4. I wouldn't say that Stephen Anthony's is so good that it's worth waiting for, but it's one of the few places in the area, and it's in a cool historical spot (I used to bike to the penny candy store next door when I growing up in Sudbury in the 80s). Although it took a long time for the food to come out, the service was otherwise great. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating and made the whole experience great. She also gave us an entire pot of coffee for the table rather than make us wait for free refills (points!). My parents had the vegetable egg white omelet, and they both finished off their entire plate and were fascinated and impressed by the whole "egg white" concept (they don't get out much). My sister had a special, pumpkin pancakes with turkey bacon and eggs, which she enjoyed but said weren't the best pumpkin pancakes that she'd had. I had the breakfast sandwich, which while it sounded amazing, was just way too greasy. The bagel was covered in grease and I had to wrap it in a napkin to pick it up. The maple sausage was very good, but too large for me as a proportion of the sandwich. Probably not a problem for most people. All in all it was a good meal and I would come back just because of it's convenient location, but not I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come back.

This is another local place I have been wanting to try for a while. All you ever hear is people raving about their homemade sausage......the sausage definitely lived up to all the hype! I came in for Sunday brunch around noon and the place was packed with a long wait! - good thing a friend came early and got our name on the list. This is a smaller restaurant all in one big open room. It is definitely not a fancy place but seems great for families and casual meals. The waitress we had was terrible. She was never around and took at least 20 minutes to bring back something you asked for - even something as simple as coffee creamer. There were a couple times we had to grab another waitress just to get a coffee refill. The food was all really good. I had a the Jamaican special that came with two eggs, coconut and banana french toast sticks and Jamaican jerk sausage. It was all really good and I love that you can get warm honey with the french toast or pancakes.

I have been meaning to eat here for years! I finally had the opportunity when a friend suggest we meet here for dinner one Saturday night. Two adults, two kids seven and nine at 6:15PM. When I arrived my friend was already seated and had been waiting for us for about 10 minutes or so. I noticed there were no drinks on the table and figured she had already ordered or was being polite and waiting for us to join them. Décor: Bad. Old, dingy, dated, dirty, etc. Large water stains on the drop ceiling tiles, terrible patterns and wall hangings...thrift store leavings basically. Poorly lit as well, way too bright. If I were them I would want to turn down the lights. This is a far far cry from what the restaurant looks like on the outside. I was very disappointed right away but held out high hopes for the food and service. Time went by as we chatted and still nobody had come by. Eventually the young lady who was our server appeared to take our drink orders...what??!! My friend had been sitting there since before I arrived and had not even been acknowledged. Drinks finally come out and my wine glass is dirty, not "water mark" dirty but dried on food dirty, gross. I politely ask for another glass...minutes pass...finally I just start drinking out of the carafe. During this time I notice a hair in my club soda, awesome. I flag down a server who is very apologetic and brings me a new water...not club soda though so I ask again for another drink. My wine glass finally arrives after I am more than halfway through the carafe which by the way had a VERY weak pour. The Shirley Temple had no cherries. How much more was I to endure? It took a very long time to order our food, get our food, get refills, etc. I couldn't help but notice how empty the restaurant was during our whole meal, not even half full. As we would sit there desperately trying to get somebody's attention, I would watch our server bussing tables in the corner for some unknown reason because there was NOBODY waiting to be seated in this mostly empty restaurant. During the whole debacle I never once saw a manager, no apologies not an offer of a complimentary dessert, NOTHING. Miraculously, the food is actually pretty good which is the reason for the one star. The bread is fresh, warm and soft and the food seemed fresh as well. My filet was slightly overcooked but at that point I didn't expect much so whatever. Nothing to write home about but I echo the sentiments of most reviewers that this is the only game in town, so you take what you can get unfortunately. If they were surrounded by three or more comparable options this place would no doubt be out of business.

Tonight we had dinner here and the food was amazing! The bread was fresh out of the oven, the calamari was tender and not too greasy, and our entrée's were great. Unfortunately the server is why we rated them 3 stars. When she walked up and greeted us, she called us kids.... If I had to guess I would say she was in her early twenties, and my husband and I are in our thirties.... It was just awkward. Then she threw in other pet names throughout the meal ( Hun , sweetie etc....) overall it just felt inappropriate and not sincere. I'm sure some customers enjoy her personality/show, but she should be able to read people and know how to communicate with them in a normal way. If we decide to give them another shot, I do not want her waiting on us. The food is the only reason we would go back, not the experience.

Had the best breakfast this morning. Poached eggs and beef hash. Eggs cooked perfect ,the food was hot off the grill and are waitress was awesome!!!!! (didn't get her name) Renovating our kitchen and been eating out often haven't had a hot meal served and a pleasant server in awhile. Thank you!!

Went here seeking a hangover cure. Service was miserably slow, and not just because I felt like death. Supposedly the cooks were shoveling the parking lot. Priorities. Anyway, my lox and bagel was great and came with eggs, a bonus! It should have come with fruit, that in my deathly daze I neglected to realize it was missing. My male cohort had the Johnny cakes and homemade sausage. He said both were delicious. If I'd had my wits about me I would have ordered one of the brunch cocktails. Prices were great. Hoping next time service is better!

So Dawn E. recommended I make a stop on the way home (since I was taking Route 20 back) at this place. The Restaurant has a market next door that sells the stuff they serve. So the quest was sausage for the hubby and that was the reason for the stop. Again taking her advice, I got the maple sausage, which looks like a sausage meatball. I also got the Bratwurst and the hot Italian (it WAS a sausage). They also had a Buffalo Blue sausage (stuffed with meat and blue cheese with buffalo sauce) and the sweet Italian (which was sold out). The maple sausage was "freakin' amazing" as quoted by my husband. He was not impressed with the Brats but he did not boil in beer and peppers/onions, so not sure what he was expecting. The hot Italians I cooked up with peppers, onions in a balsamic glaze in a casserole-like concoction. DELISH - which is a word I hate to use, but it really was delicious.

Was very crowded,,,but it was a Sunday. Hostess had no personality and gave my table to the wrong people. I had a party of 4 - she called my name a couple walked up to her and without checking she just sat them - when I asked her about it she had to make them get up - so they walked out. Was uncomfortable! Service was very slow - the waiter then told us the kitchen was backed up - so meals took a while. Food was good when it arrived - i had the pumpkin pancakes - very very good! The food is so good - just the service is a bit lacking - you would think they would have extra staff on the weekends to keep up! Still worth going back though.

Surprisingly, though the parking lot was packed, we were seated right away. Came here for the maple sausage that everyone raves about. Then I saw "our famous corned-beef hash" on the menu, and had to try it. I'm a sucker for a good, house-made hash. I got a side order of the maple sausage, anyway. The sausage was great. A bit too sweet for me, perhaps, though it might have been better paired with something like french toast. The hash couldn't have been famous except for maybe being a famous national brand. It was obviously from a can - so disappointing! Eggs, however, were cooked perfectly, service was prompt and with a smile, and the coffee cups never got less than half-full. Avoid the hash, def go for the maple sausage if you're fond of sweet breakfasts.

Five-star for food/drinks and service at brunch, but four star overall when taking ambiance into account and the bland coffee. With a little TLC to improve the decor and old dropped ceiling, and a small investment in better coffee beans/brewing system, this place would be perfection. Stephen Anthony's is a candidate for Restaurant Impossible. Despite its setting on overlooking a pond, it is dingy, dirty and uninviting. But it's close so we used to go there off and on. Then my husband got sick and our son, who ate the leftovers, also got sick. We stopped going for a long time and then decided to try it again. This time I ordered the grilled trout and was deathly ill for two days. I cannot recommend anything about Stephen Anthony's and we will never go back.

Instead, I always end up with COLD food that is subpar, disgusting homefries, and watered down coffee. The pancakes are fine but everything else is just always cold and always bland. STEPHEN ANTHONY'S IS BACK! Had dinner with my mum here tonight. Her fish was perfect. She said, "I've been dreaming of fish that tasted like this." When you wake up on a Saturday/Sunday morning and just want good food without the headache of fine dining, this is the place to be. Stephen Anthony's makes solid breakfast (only been there for it) at a good price point. From their Western Omelet to Steak and Eggs, the meal is very good. Portion sizes are definitely brunch worthy, and most options come with toast and homefries. Given that the meal options come in at about $9-13/head, the prices are not bad at all. The quality of food is very good too. They have homemade maple sausage that is solid. The food is not very greasy, and the kitchen cranks out at a pretty good clip. Situated on the Marlborough/Framingham boarder, it pulls in a very good crowd on the weekends but waits never are longer than 20 minutes. Definitely the best breakfast option in the area.

I would travel across the state for their maple sausage. Boy is that stuff good, however, if they don't GET SOME NEW COFFEE, they won't be seeing me around much anymore. You can get the dark roast if you want something a little better. Long waits on the weekends and even when there arent many people there, it can take awhile for food to come out. Overall, a great brunch spot with tons of choices.

I used to really enjoy this place, especially on a saturday or sunday morning. However, the last few times I came to grab some brunch I began to dislike the place more and more. I came with my friend a few weeks back and we both decided to order outside of the box and get an omelette stuffew with pulled pork, something I had never seen on a menu before. The pulled pork was actually good and even though it was weird to have in an omelette I enjoyed it. However, the egg itself was pretty bad and the service was highly lacking. I have been to this place a lot and its not a terrible choice by any means its just can be and has been better.

Went for breakfast on Labor Day, hadn't been here in a while so decided to come again. After putting our names in, it was about 5-10 minutes to wait. Not long at all. We were seated at one of our favorite tables facing the water, so we sat down with our menus. The waitress came up almost immediately and we ordered coffees. She came back with the coffee and we ordered our food. It was extremely busy, so it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. When the food came out it was cold. My bf, wasn't going to send it back but I told him I wasn't going to eat cold food. It was weird cause 15 minutes before our food arrived at our table the waitress stopped by to tell us it would be right out, so I can only guess she got caught up. As soon as we flagged down the waitress, explained the food was cold and we wanted it heated (and new waffles made since re-heated waffles are gross) she took everything away and they made all new food for us. We had it in about 5-10 minutes so it was great. The new food was hot and delicious. I applaud the manager and the waitstaff for making everything right with out any kind of a hassle.

We love this restaurant and go at least a couple of times a month but today was a little disappointing. I ordered the stack of three pancakes, and one of the pancakes was very burned. And I kind of feel like the kitchen tried to hide it, because it was on the bottom, and this has also happened to my daughter in the past. Before I knew it was burned, I had put butter on the top two pancakes. When I lifted them to put butter on the bottom one, a burnt smell immediately came up, and I could see it was a very dark brown. I took one bite to see if it was okay to eat, and it tasted awful. I took it off my plate and put it in a separate dish to ask for a new one, and as the waitress was walking by she actually said "that's burnt, I'll have the kitchen make you a new one". So I find it very unpleasant that the waitress knew on sight there was a problem, yet the kitchen put it on my plate, at the bottom where it was less visible. We also were disappointed in my husband's maple sausage breakfast sandwich. The sausage itself only filled about half the bites. The rest were bread and egg. I gave my husband some of my bacon to add to his sandwich. We love it here so we will definitely give it another try. But too many visits like this and we will find a new breakfast spot.

Honestly, this place kind of sucks but we've been dealing with it for years since there are so very few restaurants around. One time, we had a party of 12, and we were waiting on 2 of our guests. The other 10 were already there. They put together a table for us, and told us we couldn't be seated until the last 2 people arrived. They would rather have the table for 12 sitting there looking empty then to free up some room in their (tiny) waiting area by letting TEN people sit down. What type of logic is that?? The managers' logic!!! Not to mention, the manager is familiar with my family and knows we could in there often. It's like he was TRYING to lose business. Anywho, I haven't been back since and I will try to avoid it by all costs. At least until we get bored of the other restuarants in the area and some how find my self back at Stephen Anthony's.

Short wait? This was the longest wait ever. Food is decent, been here before, home cooked. However I cannot suggest Steven Anthony's for a large group. Been there before with a large group. Today was different. I called on Friday to see if I could get a reservation for fathers day. They do not accept reservations but I was told they are very accommodating for large parties. We arrived at 9:30 a.m. We were seated at 10:45, a party of 9. About six groups were ahead of us on the waitlist and the 15 that came in after us were all seated before us. We were literally the last one standing. No acknowledgement, no apology. When we left, nothing. I asked them at about 9 50 am I was told the large party in the back had their check and we were just waiting for them to leave. This is not where they sat us ultimately . I went back in at 1030 and asked if they could just nudge them along, the mail host just laughed in my face. Three of the meals , omelets came out cold, obviously more waiting. And my decaf coffee request was delayed 2 times. Other than that an OK place to eat. I just won't be coming back anytime soon

My favorite meals is breakfast. Eggs benedict is my favorite meal for breakfast. Here's my experience ordering and eating said meal at this restaurant. I arrived with my husband and put our name in. They took two groups of the same size who put their name in after us. When we were seated, no one came by even to offer us coffee or water. Once we flagged down a waitress we had some service - our waitress was very nice and apologetic she had forgotten us. Our food came out relatively quickly but we both were disappointed in our meals. It was warm-ish, the sausage was super salty, my eggs were slightly overcooked. It just wasn't anything to rave about.

Love Stephen Anthony's! It's literally one of the best places I have ever been to for breakfast. I have been coming here since I was a kid and it still taste just as good. AND they serve it late which is perfect for people like me... who wake up in the afternoon. It's a lot of food at a good price. I've never eaten dinner here but I hear it's pretty good.

Cheap breakfast, hearty breakfast. Lots of food. Its "ok". Although skeptical about having fish for breakfast, the poached salmon was really good, no complaints. Its an "old foggy" type of establishment, (Hey and I'm a young old foggy of mid century-ish type!) dingy, but they serve a LOT of food for little bucks. Good value. I tried a johnny cake, because my ex has raved about them, and to tell you the truth, I found it pasty, with a plastic-y aftertaste (not sure if I'm doing that justice). We didn't have a wait (we open tabled!) and service was SLOOOOOOWWWW, but all in all, diner-type food, lotsa food for very little dead presidents, and HEY someone else did the dishes!

Ok. I am upping them by a star, grudgingly. My food has been delicious the last few times I've gone,and that is the only reason. It still took almost 45 minutes for it to show up (yes, I timed it), and by the time brunch rolls around, I am hungry and bitc*y. The owner... Oh he just doesn't seem to care and is very dismissive and slightly unpleasant. I've gone so many times expecting something else, that I'm just giving that one up now. Ha ha. Maple sausage sandwich on a bagel. Yum! Perhaps a little overpriced considering you don't get potatoes with it (Paid $3.95 for has browns - what?!), but it really is delicious. Carla almost always gets the Western sandwich, and this time, it was freakin' huge. Our friends Mary and Judie had lunch stuff and enjoyed that as well. I tasted Judie's turkey club, and it was yummy. If the owner and timing were better, I'd probably give them 4 stars, but for now it's a 3.

sure, 4 solid ones and you know what, i bet they might get a 5er on the next trip back. so puesdofathersday (early!) breakfast with the whispers of MAPLE SAUSAGE and a waffle on the horizon. service was quick with a capital F for fast, and let me tell you, with a 16 month old in tow, thats the best thing you can get under those circumstances. mer got chocolate chip pancakes, i, tis waffle with said sweet meat. was i impressed? well sort of. i literately inhaled the whole thing in a 'taste it later soldier' kinda way. although the had an extensive kids menu, we opted for the fruit cup for the little guy, but it did little for him, but he did enjoy chomping on their crayons. i drank copious amounts of coffee before i even got there so i cant vouch for the joe, but mer enjoyed her readily refiled decaf. I think i kinda like it here..

It's interesting, reading most of the other reviews, it seems that Stephen Anthony's is a favorite breakfast joint--hadn't been aware of that! We've been twice now, both times for an early dinner. We were all very impressed with the food at both visits. On our first visit, we ordered the calamari appetizer, and it was exquisitely cooked -- so crisp and light and tender! We tend to use calamari as a quality check for "is this a good restaurant?" so it was a promising start! Dinners are served with a free bread basket and whipped butter. The rolls are definitely homemade, really crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. For the actual entree, I've had both the salmon with rice pilaf, and a plain old cheeseburger (they let you substitute other sides instead of fries no charge -- woot!). Both were great! Salmon was nice and juicy, the burger likewise. My husband raved about his maple-sausage stuffed chicken and seriously grieved when he accidentally dropped his leftover box on the way up the steps when we got home -- no awesome lunch for him the next day. :( Oh, that's the other thing I should mention, their portions are quite sizeable! So overall, I recommend them for the homey kid-friendly atmosphere and good food. All you breakfast people, try visiting for dinner sometime...and maybe we'll have to visit sometime for breakfast to see what that's all about!

It's all about location cause the food is so-so. Eggs are swimming in grease and the owners treat the staff like crap. Food is surely not worth the long waits on weekends. Better breakfasts along ROute 20 at the Big Apple Deli and the Sunnyside Cafe and the Garden Party Benedict served on weekends at Sergios is to die for.

I'll start with the good....AMAZING breakfast food! Absolutely delicious! My husband always gets the maple-bacon sausage and Country Benedict, and LOVES it. This last visit I got a spinach and Gorgonzola omlette...perfection! Ok, now for the bad...and it's bad. The wait is always ridiculous on Sundays. The service is terrible. We almost left because, even grabbing 2 seats at the bar, it took over 1/2 hour to get our food. Then the exclusions...they were out of one of the specials, they were out of bananas, and the kicker??? They were out of CREAM CHEESE!?! REALLY? I was told this after I ordered a bagel, mind-you. I can't give it less than three stars, because the food we did finally receive was so good, but we almost left because of the wait and bad service.

One of my favorite movies growing up was Back to the Future. Unfortunately, I do not have a quirky Doc that I am friends with nor do I own a DeLorean but Stephen Anthony's is a nice alternative. The place seems like a relic of a bygone era with its walls adorned with historical advertisements, pictures, and newspapers. It really feels like the folks on Rte. 20 could have just as easily have dined here over an open hearth 100 years ago. It's homey and cozy - so if that's ideal for you, you will appreciate the restaurant. Urban and hip it is not. I have only been here for brunch but the menu is large, the specials are always delicious and mouth watering, and the price is right. I've had various entrees here over the last year or so from stuffed french toast (excellent) to hash and eggs (also good). We've has the occasional blip of subpar food but overall you know what you're going to get. A definite step above the chain restaurants like IHOP or dare I even usher the name Denny's. I suggest trying some of the specials or the Johnny Cakes - which aren't available everywhere but are quintessential New England. Prices are more than reasonable. Also - get there early or be prepared to wait (Brunch).

I have been eating here for many many years now, and this is why I kept coming back after each bad experience. Sadly the last time we ate here - will be the very last time we eat there. The only thing consistent about Stephen Anthony's these days is the bad service and filthy maple syrup tables. I'm fairly certain the dish washer is blind as you never get clean silverware or glasses - the wait staff is forever harried and treat you as though you woke them from a sound sleep in the middle of the night and forced them to cook you breakfast. On our last visit - post the obligatory sending back of our dirty utensils - and the waitress extremely curtly taking our order our food came abnormally fast - because it wasn't what we ordered at all. I politely agreed to keep this wrong dish since it was somewhat close to my order- but requested that the waitress please just bring me the well done maple sausage I requested as well - sadly for my husband he had to send back his blueberry pancakes because he prefers them without HAIR. When the waitress walked by again 15 minutes later - me still without the sausage and my now ice cold eggs congealing in front of me - and my husband still with no replacement hair free pancakes... I stopped her to say, "will my husband's pancakes be much longer, and could I please get my well done sausages as well" - her response "What sausages" needless to say at this point I was more than ticked off since this is now going on the third time I'm ordering them. I very politely attempted to explain her mistake and she wanted no part of the conversation, instead cutting me off to tell me how she has a larger party and WALKED AWAY - my husband and I left the cold eggs on the table and walked out - good job Stephen Anthony's - you managed to lose a customer who has been eating there for close to 25 years.

Just saying the name "Steven Anthony's" makes me salivate for breakfast. I don't mix it up at this joint, no way, I go straight for the maple sausage breakfast. It is amazing... homemade sausage, 2 eggs cooked any way you like, and toast. You want to eat the maple in as many bites as possible and as slowly as humanly possible. I moved from Framingham to Norwood a few years back and this breakfast is probably the only thing I miss.... The food, in my opinion, is worth the wait. I don't think I ever waited more than 15 minutes for a table for 2. I have only been here for breakfast but have been told the food is just as good for lunch and dinner. Try to get a booth in the back by the windows... gorgeous views of Hager pond and foliage in the fall. Oh, and get the maple sausage breakfast. You can thank me later.....

I've been coming to Stephen Anthony's for years but since I've only expereinced breakfast that is all I will be commenting on. The restaurant has an expansive open feel and I usually try to get a booth with an ocean view. Well Hagar pond is far from an Ocean but you can get lost watching the ducks and swans swimming around this questionably clean body of water. The service is slow in the majority of times I've had breakfast there but who enjoys a rushed breakfast anyways and it allows more time to familiarize yourself with the local wildlife outside the windows. Breakfast is the typical faire with good sized portions and prices are reasonable. I do love their French toast which I would have just about any day of the week...and the French toast made with Italian bread is by far the best although cinammon raisin is a close second. So I'd definiteley come back and perhaps will one day try dinner and be able to give a more well rounded review of this restaurant,

I went for breakfast this morning with my son on the way to school. It wasn't busy at all - maybe three or four tables besides ours. It took kind of a long time for our food to arrive, maybe 15 minutes or so, which is a long time at breakfast. I ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs and was disappointed to find the yolks completely cooked. I assume poached eggs would have runny yolks, but perhaps I should have specified that's how I wanted them. The silver dollar pancakes my son ordered (6 in a kid's order) were much bigger than expected - more like saucer-sized than silver dollar. But he liked them well enough. From looking at other reviews, I was clearly supposed to order the maple sausage and may go back for that; otherwise I think it was just mediocre.

Went back for Mother's Day breakfast. I ordered the waffles with apple crisp, not realizing that this meant an actual slice of apple crisp on top! OMG. Had to say a few Our Fathers and Hail Marys afterwards, but the light, crisp waffle with the warm delicious dessert on top was worth it! My boy gobbled down a slice of french toast, bacon, some sausage and his fruit cup, barely looking up from his plate until it was empty. Nice. Service was good despite the massive holiday crowd. And I was offered coffee refills 4 times. What more can I say - this place wins for breakfast in the Framingham area.

I'm hunkered down for the next 24-36 hours trying to get through this Hurricane Sandy business. I've got all the lights on and the heat turned up to 75 because I want to enjoy it while it lasts. With all the wind and rain and impending darkness, I can't help but think about how awesome the Macaroni and Cheese with Ham is at this place. It's the perfect goddamn dish. It satifies every food craving you will ever have in one goddamn plate. It's the balls. And when the power inevitably goes out I will be sitting in the dark, shivering, wishing that I had that gigantic dish of pasta, cheese, and ham to warm my insides. I bet that when this bullshit is over with I will be going to Stephen Anthony's for a nice hot meal.

Don't let the appearance of the water damaged tiles inside fool you, this place is amazing for breakfast. The ambiance is hands down spectacular when you approach it, it sits on a small lake that happened to have several geese out in the fog. Very charming. The food and service were just as amazing. I ordered johnny cakes (a northeast must) and the Filet Benedict. I have never had a breakfast so over the top. The Filet was perfectly grilled to a medium rare and I was surprised at just how good hollandaise is with steak. The Johnny Cakes were top notch. I am sure that regardless of what you order here it will be amazing.

This was my second trip to this restaurant both have been for breakfast. I got the Sausage Sampler breakfast on this trip. Stephen Anthony's makes their own sausage and they have three varieties.Tomato Basil, Turkey, and Maple. All were pretty good although the maple is the best with breakfast. The breakfast also had scrambled eggs, home fries, English muffin and coffee. The rest of the breakfast was also good and there was more than enough for one meal.

On Sunday morning, my mom bought breakfast for my husband and I, and we went to Stephen Anthony's. I had the maple sausage breakfast, which was really delicious and possibly the best sausage I've ever eaten. This breakfast was $8.95 and was like a feast, with a huge piece of sausage, home fries (although slightly burned, pretty good redskins), an English muffin, and two eggs, any way you would like them. Momma had French toast and the husband had one of the breakfast combos. I was very tempted to order the stuffed Italian toast, with mascarpone and strawberries, but I chose the sausage instead. I'll have to go back sometime. On a side note, my husband and I went here once before for dinner and I can't speak too highly about it. Definitely go for the breakfast.

Best thing: Homefries. They were crunchy and tasty. I didn't like tiny cups for the coffee. I need a lot of coffee to get me going on Clock Change Day. The maple sausages were pretty yummy, but I can get better. But if you go, do try them. If you order them as a side, be warned that you get two, and that's pretty much a meal, right there. In fact, it was my meal. Homefries and sausage. I've been full since. I'll do penance tomorrow and eat salads and such.

I really love this place. I have only been for breakfast but I hear the dinner is fantastic as well...apparently they serve a good steak. They make their own sausage and offer sausage breakfast specials (maple, honey mustard, choriso, Chinese, Italian...). Delicious. The maple sausage is amazing, I always get the Maple Sausage Breakfast. The sausage sandwich is also a delight. I recently started taking some friends there and they love it too. It's very popular so expect a bit of a wait on the weekends. It's also right next to a candy store, an antique store, a bakery, a general store, and a pond where about 100 ducks/geese hang out. You can feed the ducks, or watch them cross the street.

Consistently good food at good prices for all meals. Belgium waffles are GREAT. Baked stuffed shrimp and clam plate are both very good. The tenderloin salad is excellent. Meats are always tender and seafood is always fresh. Service can be slow when busy. It's also a fun place to visit with the market and candy store and the old time pickle barrel! Remember to bring bread for the ducks.

I love this place more each time we are there. We go here for brunch or lunch every other week. Lunch menu is good, there is stuff for both me and hubby (vegetarian) it's kid friendly and the food is consistent and well priced.

Went for dinner on Saturday night. The dining room was almost full when we got there and had to wait 10-15 minutes for a booth. When we were finally seated we noticed that there was a party of 20-25 people celebrating a family birthday and the rest of the tables were full too....there were two servers in the entire room, including one who was also serving as bartender. Needless to say our service was slow and spotty. We had to corral the server to ask if we could order an appetizer. We also had to ask for bread plates, which never came. Also, my husband ordered a drink which had to be requested twice before it came. I ordered steak tips medium rare and they arrived well done. The server was very gracious in removing the plate from the table and assured me they would be redone, which they were and arrived cooked appropriately the second time around. At the end of the meal the manager/owner came to table and apologized for the incorrectly cooked meat and I told him I saw that the servers were over their heads and that our server was slow because of it, but that it improved towards the end of the meal after the large party of 25 left. He said "well as long as everything ended well..." I found that response a little inappropriate since I was basically telling him we felt short changed in the service dept. When the check arrived we noticed that my meal was not on it and we thought that was very gracious of them to comp my meal based on the steak tips being overdone ,the slow service, etc, but just then the server raced over to our table, saying the bill was incorrect and had to be done over.....so much for comping the meal....the food was tasty overall and a fair value for the price, but they need to learn how to properly service their customers if they hope to remain open in a very competitive market area.

You cant beat the breakfast its awesome 4-5 star. Dinner is pretty good but I have had some meals that were just ok. Its pretty popular so you have to get there early for breakfast or there will be a wait but hey what breakfast place doesn't?

I have been here three times (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and each time the service was great and super fast. Food is good! It's not a five star restaurant, but it's the best comfort food around!

This was my favorite breakfast place until yesterday morning when the owner of the restaurant showed incredible rudeness and inhospitality towards my friends and I. It was a cold, rainy, snowy Sunday morning and a group of us wanted to get breakfast+lunch. One of our friends was going to be late and she told us to go ahead and start without her. We asked to be seated so that we could start ordering, and the owner informed us that it was not allowed. He said that if there was a wait, she would not be able to sit with us once we sat down. We told him that she would be atleast 20 minutes, and that we'd like to start eating. He said that she would still not be able to sit with us, and that HE'D PUT HER AT HER OWN TABLE once she got there! There was no line at 1:30 in the afternoon, we were standing by the door with cold air blowing in, and we were starving. We made the decision to go somewhere else to eat. I informed the owner of this decision, and his response? "Sorry. That's been our policy for 23 years." Um hello? Just because you've been doing something for 23 years does not mean it is the right thing to do! I know that normally restaurants do ask that everyone be present before seating the party, however, in special circumstances, or if one person is going to extremely late, I have never had a problem getting a table. He turned 6 people away from a meal at his restaurant. Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" Especially in this economy! Funny thing is...two of my friends absolutely hated this place the last time they went, and my bf and I raved about it so much that they decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately after yesterday's experience, NONE of us will ever be going back!

If you're looking for breakfast and don't mind a short wait (mostly on weekends), this is a great place. Beautiful lakefront views combined with superb fresh-made sausage at reasonable prices combine to make this an outstanding breakfast restaurant. You have to try the maple sausage. Recently, dinner has also been great, especially the seafood entrees..

Everytime I go to this place, I'm wow'd by the high quality food. Both breakfast and dinner are amazing. It kind of has the feel of a breakfast/diner-ish place but still worth the food that you get. Trust me.

This place is great! we always have nice servers, and the food is always awesome, it's not a fancy room that you dine it, it needs renovations, and reminds me of restaraunts in Maine. But I happen to like that feel. kinda old school decor with old photos on the wall, and comfy booths to sit in. I always get steak here and it is well worth the price. I don't know why it isnt more popular than it is. It doesnt hurt that we always get seated right away. But I want to see this place thrive! The drinks are good and fairly priced as well. :) Bon Apetite!

I went here with my dad for breakfast a few days ago. Wow, great service, big portions, and very pretty view. The waitress was great. She said it was close enough to lunch time (20 min,) that if we wanted, we could order lunch. I can't wait to try lunch next time i go!!

Wow. What an interesting place. The drive there was worth it and it was a beautiful fall day. Very kid friendly. Very good food. The girls had pancakes and mini waffles which they gobbled up. I had the apple crisp waffle that was very tasty (loved the apple, but the topping wasn't crunchy like I'm used to). My husband had the venison and sausage. Never having tasted it before, he was happy with it (though the onions weren't really 'carmelized'. They also offer homemade sausage that seemed interesting. We'll have to try it next time. The prices were very affordable. Coffee was OK. A plus was that afterwards, we walked to the gazebo and watched the geese, swans and ducks swim around the pond. Overall, very creative menu - so many possibilities.

Good breakfast foods! I had pancakes that were nice and fluffy! The sausage that they served was so delish! Good service and not too bad of a wait for a Saturday morning. I was totally impressed with the breakfast, but I would go back for another try! I love the country store attached, a little cramped but cute things to browse over!

Beware the Sunday morning wait. It's is glacially slow and by the time you finally get a table, after wandering through the adjacent candy store and antiques shop, you may forget why you are there as it will no longer be breakfast time. It is a pretty location, but beware the copious quantity of Canada Goose droppings all around the picturesque lake side gazebo

This place is incredible for breakfast. If you're headed east out of Boston, this is the place to stop for a bite to eat before you get on the Turnpike. It's just amazing. The sausage is delicious, the eggs are fresh, the coffee is good, there's a view of a pond out the back windows, and it's big enough so that it doesn't get horribly crowded. The service is great, everyone is friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough--it's just incredible. There's also an antique store and a country store-type place right next door. I usually stock up on maple sugar candy for the long drive ahead. Look out for the ducks in the parking lot; they are fearless!

Went here for Sunday breakfast. They were busy (5 minute wait). . . it was OK. Meaning, I'll go back for breakfast, but it's just a busy dive. I had the breakfast burrito (unwrapped because I don't eat wheat) the sausage had spice (a plus) but I could see the oil: gross. There was maybe a slice of cheese (hey, the perks of unwrapping your food!) and maybe one egg. I usually apprecaite it when things are not egg heavy but this one could have used a bit more egg. I found it odd that there wasn't a side of salsa, sour cream or guac: not even ON the menu. I did ask for a side of sour cream and it was received. My breakfast companion had 2 eggs/toast/sausage. Each serving was at proper temperature. Ok, so you are aksing why not any more stars? Try getting a beverage. I had to ask 3 times for water, for my diet coke, and my friend kept having to ask for milk for her tea. Yes, I get that you are busy, but that is serving 101. Plus our server never came back to see if everything was OK stopping only by to drop off their check. Yes, I still get you are busy . . . . and we still tipped you 20% and/but ... I'll go back but I'll be more attune to flagging down when my glass is 1/2 full.

Been here for breakfast a few times, I'm surprised to see that they're open for dinner now. The breakfasts are average, but the maple sausage is an A+. The biggest drawback - it's a loud place. It seems to attract a lot of noisy families.

I can speak only for the breakfast aspect of Stephen Anthony's here, but that is very good. A huge selection in the breakfast menu. The cute, dual mini-waffles are delicious and the coffee is good too. The experience is enhanced if you are lucky to get a window seat over looking the duck filled pond.

Conveniently located in a quaint reconstructed village by Henry Ford on the Marlborough/Sudbury line, this restaurant shares an antique motif with an adjacent antique shop, candy store and general store, and is next to a small pond with ducks, geese and a swan. The decor is rather Thomas Kinkade-like, and the food, while not terrible, is nothing too special, just eggs (brown overcooked) and other breakfast fare, not unlike Friendly's. The staff is friendly enough but the service has been slow. I can't put my finger on it, but even though it is around the corner, I still don't go there, and I usually like quaint breakfast places. Yelp makes two stars seem like an indictment, but it isn't really, just faint praise.

I've only had breakfast here (as have my parents).. but their MAPLE SAUSAGE is amazing!!!! They also are next to a cute little "country" store that sells candy and food items!!!

Crowded on weekends and reasonable atmosphere but 2x the eggs have been barely cooked (yuch) and nothing special. Fun to watch the geese in the pond though.
