This review is from a visit about four months ago. My wife and I had dinner there and expected a great meal after reading reviews. My wife got a scallop dish which she said was quite good. I got the "fisherman's platter, which I don't remember what the actual name was on the menu.I will describe what I received with great detail. First, the two scallops were actually one scallop cut in half, now about one quater inch thick. Also, two ,just OK shrimp was on the plate. The haddock? Well,it was about four to six inches square and about one half inch thick, including the batter. The fried clams? Well,I couldn't count them because other than one clam, the other five? or six? were all in one clump.Included in that clump was a piece of shell about one half inch square. There is NO exaceration in this review. Ironically, the hand cut fries were excellant. Will I try this place again? That will be difficult!

Let's just say I have eaten there twice...my first and last time. I wasn't really impressed by the food I had. I didn't complain to anyone working there since I figure I won't eat there again. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Went in on a weekend around 5 PM. Had a Caesar salad along with the Surf & Turf (lazy lobster). Caesar salad was very good. Waitress was attentive and friendly. The problem I had was with the entree. I had ordered my steak Medium. The waitress even confirmed twice the way I wanted it. But when I cut into the steak all I found was Well Done. Made the steak very hard to chew. Then almost broke a tooth with the lazy lobster, since the chef forgot to check all of the claw meat. Not sure how he missed the piece I pulled out of my mouth which had some of the cartillage still attached.

Met some friends there, and we were disappointed. My tuna was over cook and not fresh. My companion had the same result with his food. Sorry, It wont be on my list to go back soon.

Good food for a great price, but the service was horrible. They were kind of rude about IDing me, and then everytime I asked for something they would leave without me finishing what I wanted - which resulted in multiple waving my hand around for their attention. They plopped things down rudely and didn't really remember to bring things like broth and butter with the steamers. The shrimp cocktails were HUGE and yummie.. steamers were kinda sandy (and they didn't give you warm water/broth to wash it in).. they had the best swordfish I've ever eaten tho.. and the mashed potatoes seemed kind of stiff so I didn't touch it. Desserts were good but not amazing. Creme brulee was too thick compared to crust and filling... the raspberry truffle white chocolate thing was delicious tho... I love Vin Bin next to it :)

The first time we ate at this restaurant was a couple of years ago it was horrible. We just went there again because we are trying to get air miles through American Airlines and it was really the only option. This time it wasn't terrible but wasnt fantastic either. The waitress wasn't the nicest, She seemed to be bothered by us asking for anything. The place was dead since it was an off hour. The high chair for my son was broken. We asked for another one and that one was broken too. Not a great start. Then the bread basket came.. pretty good. Fresh warm bread. We started with the oysters rockafeller. Not great. The oysters were fresh but come on.... the spinach was not even sauted in olive oil and garlic, seemed like they just microwaved it and poured it over the oysters... yuck. There were no bread crumbs...they were not good. I could have cooked them better myself. Next we ordered the Ferrari Carano fume blanc's these made the meal much more tollerable. For our main coarse I ordered the fishermans plate, not a usual favorite. The scallops were actually really good, large and fresh. The haddock, not so great. The shrimp were not butterflied so they were not really restaurant quality. The food came really hot which was a plus because it tasted better then it probably would have. My husband ordered the lemon pepper salmon which was again just okay... As far as atmosphere .... none. Not sure if it is the economy or what but everyone in there eating looked homeless. One couple just came in ordered a cup of soup and left. very odd. Not a very pretty restaurant either... Would I return?... not a chance

We decided on a light supper there after a night out at the movies (and having consumed an extra large bucket of popcorn at the theater). Truth be told, we were originally on our way to Kennedy's Pub, but just before making the right turn from route 20 eastbound onto route 85, we spotted Coral Seafood. It has been there for many years, and I always thought it was a fish market. At night, we noticed people seated inside. Aha, it is really a restaurant! Of course we will give it a try. We had a really pleasant time. The service was pleasant and classy. We had the fried calamari, which was very good, followed by the seafood gumbo for me and the clam chowder for him. My sampling of the clam chowder found it quite good, on the creamy side. We split the seared salmon. It was done up very nicely, with a nice sear on the outside and tender on the inside. My only complaint is that we originally ordered the halibut, with a second choice being the rainbow trout. They were out of both. We were told that halibut is not quite in season yet. I was surprised that it was not stated as such on the menu (a simple "seasonally" would've been nice). They were out of the trout, I supposed because it was 7:30pm on a Sunday night? Oh yes, the wine list is pretty extensive. I was very happy with the server's suggestion.

Went there to meet friends on a quiet Nov Monday night. Modern decor, nice looking place and convenient from 495 into downtown area. It was not crowded and service was good and efficient. I can see where it would get slow on a packed night. Food was excellent with good portions. It was medium priced -- not low end and not 5-star prices. Would go back if in the area again.

First the good: The bread, drinks, and order were fast; It was dead though. I ordered the fried fish platter. The fries were top notch perfect. The fried fish was perfectly brown, the haddock was moist. The bad: The clams were indelibly chewy. The rest of the staff lacked energy. The bread is fresh but too heavy. The herb butter was just butter with a parsley you can see but not taste. And probably it's biggest problem aside from its pretentious pricing is the decor. Stuffy, boring, and cold if also modern and sleek. It wreaks of Country club clientele, and business lunches. Food is good but not that good.

What a lovely fish restaurant - complete with 4 or 5 non-seafood dinners (eg. duck, filet mignon) in the menu. If I lived closer (or even in the state) I would be here at least once a month. Paulette was an absolutely spectacular waitress. The appetizers and dinners are absolutely fantastic. There were 5 people in our party and everyone enjoyed their meals. We tried about half a dozen appetizers which were all divine. The wine list is very good as well. I definitely recommend you try this restaurant.

Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar - Marlborough, MA - 9/9/2015 Two slices of bread with house whipped butter... Nothing too inspiring about the bread... Mixed Greens... ChampagneVinaigrette, Toasted Almonds, Dried Cranberries, Boursin Cheese... Positively Scrumptious! Surf & Turf... 8 Oz Filet Mignon with 1 1/4 Lb Maine Lobstah steamed... Whipped Potatoes, Asparagus, Bordelaise Sauce, Drawn Butter... The Filet, cooked to perfection with it's warm pink center... It was extremely flavorful, just did not cut quite like buttah... Chocolate Panna Cotta... Orange-Vanilla Mascorpone , Blueberry-Strawberry Sauce... If you have a passion for rich chocolaty desserts that inspire, this dish is for you! The Cappuccino was good although the head was somewhat flat... Overall it was quite a pleasant experience and I would highly recommend you try this restaurant. They do a nice job.

Absolutely overrated!! From the minute we walked in the door on a rainy Sunday night at 5:30, the Host was very rude and uninviting! Told us it would be over an hour wait for our party of 3, and when we ask if we could wait at the bar, told us that would be an hour wait! Well we walked over to the bar and there were plenty of empty seats not to mention empty tables! We ordered our drinks, apps and dinners at 6:00. Our apps came out at 7:00 and our entrees at 8:00! The presentations were pleasing for an appetizer. Very disappointed in the meals, not only were they small, cold and bland! We didn't send anything back, I don't believe in that, but we'll never return! The lazy man lobster was appalling for $42.00, coleslaw, French fries thick as ribbons, and a cone of lobster meat. The scallop entree for $35.00 consisted of 4 scallops over a tiny potato medallion. To add insult, we came for the raw bar that was empty at 5:30!! Not one single oyster left!

Found it on Yelp and listened to the feedback, did not get steered wrong. This place is rock solid. I listened to a review that advised a reservation and glad that I did that as the place was packed with people. I also took the advise of the Yelpers and ordered the fried fatty clams and they were fabulous. Since I was Jone'ing for a Lobster I did a stuff lobster. It wasn't the best I have ever had, but frankly I would get the lobster somewhere else next time and order something else at this place. Overall highly recommended, but get a reservation and for sure if you like the taste of raw oysters, try the fried fatty clams, good!

Overall, Fish is an excellent seafood restaurant way out in the suburbs of Marlborough. The fish appears to be extremely fresh and generally well prepared. The restaurant has changed hands over the years and this incarnation is definitely the best. If you have not been here in a while, do come back. I absolutely love the Diver Scallops on a turnip puree. (I know it sounds strange, but it is fantastic.) I also enjoy the Grilled Swordfish with Ratatouille, Tomato-Onion Marmalade, and Crispy Leeks. The restaurant has live music on Saturday night that is surprisingly excellent for the 'burbs and $1 oysters on Sunday. So, why not five stars? Well, the service is significantly lacking from the manager to the wait staff. On my most recent visit, my wife and I arrived before our friends for an early dinner. We had a reservation and there were MANY empty tables. We asked to be seated. The manager REFUSED. When I said that we were uncomfortable standing, we were told that we could go to the bar or wait standing by the door. I asked why and was told that it was "policy". I respect policy, but I would think the manager would want to be accommodating. At a visit two weeks ago, I asked the waitress about specials. She said that there weren't any. Several minutes later, I heard another waitress tell the adjacent table that there was a branzino special. I wanted the branzino. This Mediterranean fish is very unusual for a restaurant in the east coast of the US. When I got the attention of the waitress, it was too late. To give credit, the restaurant manager apologized and provided a free dessert to compensate. But, still. Things are not so bad that I would boycott this place. The back of the house (kitchen, etc.) is quite good. But, the front of the house needs some customer focus.

Why do I forget to come here? Oh why? I so love the octopus - you can cut it with a fork, buttery tender! (I just hate beets, and they serve it with beets!). I love the salmon with the roasted cauliflower and the puree, one of my favorite lunches. Seriously. But they did overcook my salmon - a huge no-no in my book. BUT it was delicious and I really enjoyed it enough to want to come back for it and get it right and not have overcooked seafood at Legals down the road in Framingham. Service is LOVELY and chatting with Ian is always a pleasure. Come for drinks. Or their lovely wines. And their fresh oysters. Just come, and enjoy.
(4)Kathleen T.
The menu is boring. I would expect a restaurant named Fish to put more emphasis on serving great fish. This is not the case. The fish and chips are good but I can get fish and chips anywhere for less than $22.00. I stop in for the wine and service.
(2)Steve A.
Really good place. Could eat here all the time. Large dinner party from work, 12 consultants. Surf and turf comprised of steak and lobster. Would have preferred more lobster as I am not from the area.
(4)Scott H.
Great menu with a good variety of seafood options, each incredibly presented with great flavor. I had the mussel appetizer with a great broth, clam chowder was thick creamy New England style chowder, and stuffed lobster, which was a whole lobster stuffed with lobster and crab mix. Some friends had Cioppino which had a great variety of seafood and flavored base. Friendly staff, great environment.

We moved to Marlborough a little more than two years ago and thought this restaurant seemed promising, but every time we go we're less impressed. Last night we dined, didn't have a reservation, but didn't think it would be an issue because the restaurant was half empty. We were informed by the extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming host that "we aren't accepting walk-ins for parties of two, but you can sit at the bar". Honestly, we have no issue eating at the bar, but his demeanor was really off putting. If he had said "I'm sorry, but we don't have a table for two available at the moment, but please feel free to sit at the bar" that would have been fine. This isn't Boston. The food isn't especially spectacular. Get over youself. I'm pretty sure we're done with Fish.
(1)Susan P.
The service and the food have always been above average. This has now become not just a dinner night restaurant but a nice place to meet friends and catch up. Would highly recommend.

If you want the best freshest seafood in Marlborough you have to visit this establishment. Ask for Laurieann as your server. She is awesome. I had the best clam chowder ever... So creamy and loaded with clams. As a main course I had the Haddock which had an oatmeal crust served over a butternut purée with Oyster mushroom. This entree was delicious and cooked perfectly. Also paired with grilled asparagus. Can't wait to come back!!!! Leann was awesome toooo

Sadly, I think we just had our last meal at Fish. We have been 4-5 times now and every time have had great food but it never fails, the service is terrible! Every single time we have been there, it takes forever just get drinks and bread. After asking for bread multiple times we had already started eating dinner before finally getting it. Takes way too long to get the drinks you order and the servers are never on top of things, not replenishing drinks, asking how things are...we keep trying to give it another chance but we're 5 for 5 now and my husband said they're won't be a sixth.

I left this place with a very full stomach and a smile of pure satisfaction on my face. I have already raved to all of my family members and friends about it and have decided that I just can't rave enough. So here I am, writing a review (which I never do). I could simply say that everything that touched my lips was just delicious. From the bread with seasoned butter and the hefeweizen beer to the mixed greens salad (sounds simple but it is full of flavors that will light up your taste buds). I also ordered from the raw bar which I highly recommend. My boyfriend ordered the clam chowder which unfortunately I didn't get to try. The giant serving was gone before I could blink. Must have been good. I was in heaven and I hadn't even gotten to my main course. I ordered the swordfish over a bed of spinach with artichoke. Again, I couldn't believe how delicious and perfectly cooked everything was. The swordfish was so tender and full of flavor. Not smothered in sauces, just left to stand on its own fresh flavor. I think that's what I liked the most about the food was that it was prepared perfectly so that each and every flavor stood it on its own without overpowering seasoning being added. Sorry, I'm on a rant. It was THAT good. All of this and I haven't even mentioned the atmosphere or the staff. Both were also GREAT! Simple, clean, modern decorations. Live jazzy band. Very friendly and attentive staff. The only downside is that it is on the pricey side. that doesn't affect the rating because the food is entirely worth the price you pay. My boyfriend and I just moved down the street and he knows how much I love fish so he took me here. Big mistake. Now I want to try everything on the menu. Hope we don't go broke. ;)

Excellent selection of oysters. Had the scallops and just the right amount of food. Great wine, martini and beer menu. Service was very good followed up withanager coming to our table and asking how everything was. Only dislike was located in a strip mall.

This place used to be the Coral Seafood Restaurant. My wife and I used to frequent Coral often and the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and competent and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We finally got around to trying Fish, we had stopped going shortly before the change from Coral to Fish because the prices were continually rising and got a bit steep. But we decided to give the new place a try last night and were pleasantly surprised to find that they have managed to improve on the overall ambiance. It's very elegant inside with the same level of friendliness and enthusiasm as before. The food was very good, I had the fish and chips, my wife had a chicken dish. We both found the food to be quite good and the overall experience a joy. I would have given more stars but I was held back by the prices, a bit on the high side and the booths which aren't very comfortable. Overall, this is a very good place to dine on occasion, but a bit too pricey to be our regular go to place.
(3)Ran D.
Extremely fresh and refreshing Having red the Yelp reviews we got the mussel's in the curry sauce app that everyone was raving about and it was awesome! Thanks guys! Great wine selection and knowledgeable service. They have floor to ceiling door that open in the bar area that make it the perfect place when the weather is warm for a weekday date night. We also split the seared tuna entree, and it was more then enough for two, perfectly cooked, and pared with great sides. We had a great first experience and can't wait to try more of the menu.
(4)Adam H.
This was a very good experience. When my wife and arrived a bit late the rest of our party had already been seated. Although it was not that busy when we got there it was nice that they did not have to wait for us to get there to be seated. It could have been because we had a pregnant woman in our party though. :) The server quickly came to ask for our drink order and was very attentive throughout the meal. I never felt e he was hovering over us either. The server was also extremely knowledgable and was able make good suggestion when asked. I think we were all very happy with him although i am the only one of the group that would write about a restaurant experience. He even had fun with us on a few non food related questions we had as well. The appetizers we decided on (fried clams and oysters) were great! I actually think the clams were the best I have ever had! Lightly battered and really flavorful! Just a few short minutes after our app. plates were cleared and or drinks refreshed our dinners arrived. Know one likes it when you are still eating one course and the other arrives. Everyone in our group seemed very happy with with their meals and they all looked great. I had the sesame crusted tuna. It was a very fresh nice portion of fish. There was good seasoning and the sides complimented the fish. To end the night we ordered a few sweets. Although I only tried the lemon cake, it was great! I would get it again. The decor was very clean and modern. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place to all my friends and family. Thank fora nice experience.

Having ended up in Marlborough for business meetings, I was looking for a decent place to eat my dinner. I came upon this business via Yelp's app, and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised about this place, given the mixed reviews. I started off with the raw oysters which were savory and pretty fresh. The service was very friendly, and recommended several dishes to me, so I knew how to narrow down the options. In the end, I ended up going with the Gloucester Cod, with a potato puree and brussel sprouts. It was excellently seasoned and cooked. The sides complimented the dish well, and I did like the presentation. The wine pairings suggested by the bartender was also great. Overall, I had a good experience here, and definitely would recommend that out of towners check it out if they happen to be in Marlborough.
(4)Samantha C.
I have driven by this place a few times and always wanted to try it as a big seafood lover. I happened to find myself in Marlboro around dinner time so I stopped in with my boyfriend and had dinner at the bar. We had drinks and then ordered. The entire time the bartender was barking passive aggressive things to the staff when they would come over to grab drinks for their tables. He was also very unnatural and didn't really make us feel comfortable at the bar. Weird, but whatever. He did make a good martini... I had the Cioppino and bf had the fishermans platter. The Cioppino was very good. The sauce was excellent and I love that it came with whipped potato. I would come back for this again BUT the fishermans platter (what seems like the easier item to prepare!!) was not good. The clams were soggy and the tartar sauce was just plain not good. Between the bartender and the prices vs taste I am not sure I would return. I might go back, get an actual table and try more entrees, but I know now not to order clams!

Went for late lunch but arrived a 4 minutes after lunch menu ended. Asked for a salad with fish or chicken on it was told this is no problem. Our salads arrived and they were smaller than what you would get as a side salad, with 3 very small slices of tuna. It was ok but how bad can you screw up greens and raw tuna????? The bill came and it was OVER $40.00 for 2 salads. Asked the server if this could be right and was told it was. "Cant argue with the computer" The manager came over and was not helpful or pleasant when we queried the amount of the small salads. We paid our Slightly adjusted bill and went out for dinner since we were still hungry. This place is NOT where you want to go for a late lunch, but we will never go again. Nor recommend it to anyone overpriced and by the other reviews not long for this world.
(1)Anne L.
We thoroughly enjoy this restaurant every time we go. We've always had exceptional service and outstanding meals. The drinks are almost as creative as the food. Everything is fresh, perfectly seasoned and prepared. The wine list is great and the servers suggestions are always spot on. The maitre d/manager is fabulous! He and the 6 minute egg are my favorites!
(5)Roger T.
I am not even going to spend 10 seconds writing this review - this place is revolting and this is the 2nd time I have seen cockroaches... And the manager sits and drinks at the bar most of the time? ugh...
(1)June N.
Tried Fish restaurant tonight after doing some Christmas shopping and we were not impressed. The food was okay and our waiter was extremely rood. Granted he and my mom started off joking a bit back and forth when the drinks came over I had ordered the rose sangria. It was not drinkable. I had my mom try it and she agreed. It was super strong and I expected it to be fruity and all I could taste was booze. I didn't want to say anything because there already was playful tension between he and my mom. The waiter came over and I ended up telling him it was way too strong. He interrupted me to tell me a lot of people say it's too strong and usually he just adds ginger ale. My mom was starting to tell him that usually sangria is fruity and before she could finish her sentence he said " do not insult our drinks, a lot of people like them a lot." What planet did he come from and the customer is always right. After he said that to her so rudely I didn't even hear the rest of what he said. I was so uncomfortable he brought the drink back and it still tasted like crap and I didn't want to send it back again because I didn't want it deal with him. Anytime he came to check on us after he didn't hide very well that he wasn't happy with us. The restaurant was not busy when we got there and that waiter should not work with the public. The host was a younger guy and extremely pleasant when we walked in and when we left. Unfortunetly this terrible waiter will deter us from ever trying this place again
(1)Nina F.
This place had been on my list for ages - now i know why i waited so long to go. overpriced dinner with tiny, overcooked, over-salted portions. don't go hungry - you will leave hungry. and thirsty.
(1)Jo-Ellen D.
The $1 oysters were fantastic. Great deal. However I also ordered their lobster blt, and while it was DELICIOUS, it barely qualified as a half a sandwich, and cost $20! Fill up on the bread because your meal will be tiny.

I made the reservation on OpenTable one hour before dining time: 7:15PM. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get a table. In the interest of disclosure, I have much of the following in a review on OpenTable. Fish Restaurant and Wine Bar has the freshest fish I have found in Metrowest, and that includes the two higher-priced, well-known fish chains with locations in the Framingham/Natick area. The seasoning is original and delicate. I had the nightly special, black cod with fennel pollen and orange-peel string shavings, mashed blue potatoes, and wonderfully prepared Swiss chard. My wife had halibut. Again her fish and her two sides, broccolini and squash with orange, were perfect. Prices were very reasonable. Portion sizes are sufficient, without being overwhelming, leaving room for delicious appetizers, salads, and/or dessert. Wait staff were attentive, without being overbearing, & the owner friendly. Live jazz at the bar provided nice background music, w/o impeding conversation. I generally don't like having TVs in a great restaurant, but I couldn't hear them and they weren't distracting, since they were in the bar area. I've been here for business lunches, but this was my first time for dinner. I will return many times.
(5)Dina C.
Awesome service. Waiter (Steve) was extremely helpful with recommendations and all recommendations were (possibly coincidentally) my preferences, from drink to food and apps.
(5)Kristin C.
I also thought this restaurant was definetly not worth the high price of it's food as well as drinks. I ordered a martini, which came out in a small drinking glass with a small coffee stirrer/straw in it, for $9. They did not have the first two, very common, types of martinis that I ordered so I settled on just a plain cosmo. I also heard the man next to me complaining about this wine order. The seafood dinners were small and very overpriced, as far as I was concerned. This restaurant is not very "family friendly". There is no kid's menu, no small kid's desserts, not even a dinky paper placemat with crayons.
(1)Evgeny R.
I should preface by saying that seafood is not my absolute favorite thing to have. However, this place is classy, the service is great, and the quality of the ingredients and excellence of preparation is such, that I have had a series of great meals here now! Definitely a spot that I recommend to people in downtown Marlborough for a great, classy night out.
(3)Pam D.
Jazz band was nice to listen to during dinner. Food took long to come out. Oysters were VERY watery and a lot of broken shells in them. Filet Mignon was very good. Lazy lobster was 4 very tiny claws on potatoes. Seafood platter was over cooked. Wasn't sure what I was eating. One shrimp had the whole shell still on under the burnt and, way too much batter. The fried clams were not bad at all. They didn't have the heavy batter on it. Cole slaw was good as well. Service was ok. Slow and not very personal. If I go back, I'd order the steak, or something not fried.
(2)Paressa T.
Fish is eclectic with delicious foods, wine and spirits. Full of ambiance , music & entertaining atmosphere. The staff were knowledgeable & the food was succulent. Definitely a place I would eat again and would recommend to everyone.
(5)Dina G.
Exquisite food, great ambiance, best cocktail drinks. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back again.
(5)Adrienne N.
Recently changed its name to "Fish" The lobster roll was plain - no mayo, no salt/pepper, no lettuce or celery and not a generous portion. Boyfriend reports the tuna roll was "good". He said it came with a lot of tuna.
(3)N V.
By far the best restaurant in the area!!! Amazing decor and simply delicious food. Reasonably priced but most importantly you get what you pay for.
(5)Sam S.
We hadn't tried Fish, since it changed from Coral Seafood. We went for our 16th anniversary and had a spectacular meal. The ambiance is great, everything is decorated nicely and they had a jazz band playing by the bar. Our waiter was super attentive, knowledgeable, but not too in your face. We started off with the appetizer of PEI mussels. They had a nice flavor of garlic with small cubes of salami to give it a hint of spice. They were delicious. My wife had a rare cooked sesame tuna, which was out of this world. I had the lobster BLT. It was great, how can you go wrong with Lobster and Bacon. We will be back soon, a real find in the suburbs. There was plenty of parking and they took a Sat night reservation for two.

Went for a Sunday dinner with my friends family as her mother was in town. We were seated in a booth in the back of the restaurant right outside the kitchen. I ordered Tuna and asked the waitress if I could have it done rare as it was sashimi grade and she said yes that is how the chef prefers to cook it. When I received my meal the center was rare but 1- 1.5" in all around were well done. I asked for if to be returned and when she did the chef started yelling at her that this is the way it is going to be done and what the heck was my problem. We are right there hearing all of this as I was totally appalled. She came back and asked if I wanted something else and I explained that after that outbreak there was no way I was ordering anything out of that kitchen. Who would? The manager came over to tell me that it was rare and tried to back up the chef. He really did not diffuse the situation any and if I was not there with a friends out of town family I would of walked out. Saving grace they did comp my meal and brought over a free dessert my surprise. But how a restaurant could allow this behavior is beyond me and the manager did not seem to have a big issue with how the chef handled the situation. My friends mother had a lobster roll that had very little lobster but the clam chowder was really good. If you want overcooked tuna go there if you want a place that does it right go up the street to Wildwood Steakhouse as I had it there 3 days later and it was perfect. This is a place I could not recommend to anyone. I have been there before and thought it was fair and now this experience out it over the top.

I had the butter poached lobster with scallops, and my friend had the lazy mans lobster with the filet. Mine came with delicious mashed potatoes and spinach and hers came with the potatoes and crispy fried asparagus. My scallops were perfectly cooked and flavorful and the lobster was drown in butter! Mmmm Her filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I had the chowder as well which was yummy, and my friend said even her salad was perfect! Also they have a great selection of wine. The servers were friendly and the decor was pretty and comfortable. We can't wait to go back! :)

So...I think I liked this place more when it was Coral Seafoods (it's called Fish now). The menu changed a little bit, and out of the three of us all of our meals were just okay. I definitely have to give them a second shot, but I think my dad wrote them off as a place he's really not interested in. Which is too bad for them seeing as he goes out every night and makes many restaurant owners in the area VERY happy. The best thing this place has going for it is the decor. They definitely spruced it up a bit, which is nice, but again the food wasn't all that exciting.

Food was good and service was great. The turnaround time on drinks was a little slow but our server recognized this and threw in an extra oyster. Slightly over priced but good all the same. The scallops were great but the tuna was a little too fatty. If we are in the area we would come back to try other things

Good food. Beautiful presentation. Elegant restaurant. The manager asked us if we were happy with the food. I had a good experience here and I would recommend it. On Saturday nights they have live Jazz after 7:00pm.

The other reviews seems really mixed, but the negatives tended to be about price and portion size. It seems like the food was generally well received. We gave it a try and managed to get a a Friday reservation on the same day. Part of our party was running late and they were very accommodating in moving the reservation back. The bar area fills very quickly, so plan for that if you are just dropping in. The interior has a nice style and a comfortable feel. Our waiter was very friendly but was in-attentive at times. Our first round of drinks were long gone before we were asked for a second order. Our water cups also sat empty multiple times. We ordered oysters to start, there were 8 kinds and the ones we sampled were all quite fresh. The crab cakes were good. The smoked trout mousse was really good, but all we got was four tiny pieces of bread to spread it on, so we ended up using all the table bread. I mentioned this to our waiter and he said that it wasn't meant for two people to share. I am not sure how that would have solved the bread problem considering how much mousse there was. The Arctic char special was really amazing. The cioppino was pretty good, but not San Francisco good. The lobster and cavatelli pasta was good too. I had shrimp and grits which wasn't very good. The shrimp was over-cooked and just tasked like smoke. The grits were without texture and under-seasoned. We ordered coffee and dessert too. Two of the desserts showed up first, then a while later the coffee. The waiter was MIA for a while and when he did finally show up we mentioned our missing dessert. He apologized for the delay, but it really just summed up the overall unevenness of service for the night. Yes, the restaurant is pricy, but the portions are pretty good and the food quality is overall good. I will be headed back to try it again.

Food was just OKAY. I asked the waitress to pack up what i didn't finish, which was a whole lobster, and 3/4 of steak with fries. I came home and gave my boyfriend the boxes and he opened them and said there was no steak in it........................................... They FORGOT to put my steak in the box... $30 down the drain. Not to mention I waited almost 25 minutes until my meal came out. I called and whoever was on the phone said they don't know because they were not on duty the night I had dinner there, and mind you it was not busy at all that night. I don't have much patience for people and places like this. I expected better service from a place that charges so much $$$.

Now known as "Fish", the former Coral Seafood was a disappointment. The prices have gone up 15-20% and the quality has followed a plunging curve and gone down by the same percentage. The menu is limited and for a restaurant named "Fish" there were not many fish dishes on the menu. Many of my favorites have disappeared from the menu-- such as the cioppino. White wine, once served in a chiller, was served barely cool and sans chiller. Their once very good clam chowder was almost there but was missing "something". The only way to order a classic "fish and chips" dinner was to order a fish sandwich. The fish was OK but not crispy. The rib eye steak was "tough". The seared scallops were very good and the presentation was very nice. The service we received was prompt, courteous and very good. As the Coral Seafood morphed into Fish, we learned it was the same owner and the same chef. Go figure. I once enjoyed dining there.

Being a city guy, and having access to a lot of great seafood options, I had a little trepidation before going to Fish. My best friend lives in Marlborough, and loved a past experience there, and we arrived this past Saturday night for her birthday dinner. We arrived at 9, with a party of 7, and were greeted and sat immediately (we had a reservation). The interior (which apparently has recently gone through a redesign) is gorgeous. Simple and modern, and very clean. Since it was beautiful this weekend they had the doors by the bar open, and it really had a posh sensibility. If it wasn't for the fact the parking lot has a smell dominated by the Domino's Pizza next door, you might just be able to picture yourself somewhere besides the burbs. Our server was attentive, but had a little bit of an issue in position himself in a non awkward way. We were sat at a half booth shaped like a crescent moon, with three chairs completing the circle. It was impossible for him to be in front of all of us at the same time, and unfortunately I had him standing in my blind spot for most of our table interaction. The drink list is interesting, and Fish features a nice wine list as well. For an appetizer we shared the mussels, which were great. The broth was flavorful and delicious. The toasted bread that was served with it, was a little charred, which didn't bother me, but did irk my friend who didn't care for the burnt taste. For dinner I went big with the surf & turf option of filet mignon and lazy lobster. The lobster was good, if not unimpressive. It was a simple preparation, but there was no flavor brought to the party along with it. The filet was ordered medium rare, and it came out closer to medium/medium well. It still retained a lot of juice, and still had good flavor to it. I was a little bummed out to have a bit overcooked, but it tasted good enough that I didn't feel the need to send it back (and for a $34 entree, would be something I'd do if it was overcooked to the point of being inedible for me). The tahini potato puree didn't have as much tahini flavor as I thought it would but was good. The crispy asparagus served with it, was really battered asparagus, and wasn't good at all. I know it wasn't served the way it was intended, as the breading was soggy, and it had no crunch to it. The rest of table got items ranging from the Cod, Lobster Roll, cheeseburger, scallops, and giant shrimp and everyone enjoyed what they had. My friend found the cheeseburger a little too greasy, but we all made fun of him for ordering it at a restaurant called Fish anyway. For dessert we were served a Lemon Mousse cake,a chocolate espresso mousse cake, and another Filipino style dessert what our waiter quickly explained, but none of us understood, but was served with a pistachio cream. The espresso was the perfect punch needed to make the chocolate mousse a winner without being too rich, but the Lemon cake was a little too tart, and had nothing in it to undercut the tartness. The filipino pistachio situation was interesting, but hard to eat. I had a good , not great experience there, but do intend on going back and trying a strictly seafood option.

First visit since the conversion from Coral Seafood to Fish. I liked the new decor but then I'm not exactly known for my sense of style. Wine list was longer than the menu, not that that's a bad thing as I prefer a shorter, tighter menu, but I digress. Dinner for 4 was underwhelming for all, tasty and fresh, but disappointing. The shared complaint was portion size and I think it's important to point out that two of my dining companions have bird-like appetites. There's small and then there's embarrassingly small and the fish portions fell into the latter category. I had a pack/box of Extra gum in my pocket that literally obscured their fish portions in size and pretty much equaled them in thickness and the haddock 'portion' of my seafood platter was literally two bites big. On the plus side, the flavors were great, the fish and vegetables were very fresh, and the bread they bring you is some of the best I've ever had. The service we received was prompt, courteous, and attentive. Our server was polite and, more importantly, not pushy, which I happen to personally appreciate as there's nothing more annoying than a server who won't take no thank you for an answer.
(2)Rafaela S.
I don't know why people are so critical of this place - everything was perfect there. I had the best haddock I have had in a long time. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere was pleasant and it was NOT pricey for a seafood place.

After much anticipation we arrived at Fish. Phantom Gourmet rated it high...couldn't wait. We were seated right away as restaurant empty at 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Our server appeared immediately with bread and took our drink order. Drinks arrived...Bombay &tonic..in tall thin glass..$8.00... Not worth it. While there was no one in the restaurant our server seemed rushed when I had a question about the sesame tuna. I was given a rather sarcastic answer to my request. Service went downhill from there...we ordered a dozen oysters and they were served without a plate to eat them on...I had to request a plate and was immediately presented with a dirty plate. I told him the plate was dirty as was the tablecloth under the paper covering on the table. Really..with pretty high priced apps, drinks and entrees...you should be able to afford to put clean linen on the table. Our pricey Wellfleet oysters were tasty but difficult to enjoy due to large amount of shell in each oyster. I ordered the sesame tuna and it was served raw as requested...and it was fabulous tuna with Asian noodle salad that was delicious and the roasted garlic in the spinach was sweet and succulent. My husband has the oatmeal crusted baked haddock...and deemed it tasty..but not as he expected. We opted for dessert with coffee. Milk chocolate mousse with caramel was different and delist. Bill of $141.00 with 18 per cent tip due to lousy service. When checking my debit card today...they changed it to a 20 per cent tip...I called and they said they do this initially but only what I authorized would be charged. All in all with a more professional server and less shell in oyster it would have been a wonderful dinner. May go back...may not... Here

Went for dinner and was surprised that even though the name changed from Coral Seafood to Fish; little else had. The interior is very similar and though the menu selections were different it seemed to correspond to a change of name of the items with higher pricing. I got the impression that the owner was trying to make the restaurant more upscale, which I don't think was achieved as the experience I had at Coral Seafood is almost identical to Fish. The food was good. I had the Sesame tuna and my wife had Diver Scallops which were very good. We had an appetizer of calamari which we did not think was all that good. Overall, I was expecting something "new" and felt it was mostly the same but higher prices.

This is a solid 2.5 but for a seafood restaurant in New England, it should be better. The restaurant is now called 'fish'. The highlights: 1) The rib-eye on the bone was cooked to perfection (medium rare). 2) price on 2 twin lobsters (1.25 pounds each) = $31. The needs improvement: 1) The spinach side was supposed to be creamed spinach. It was fresh spinach with a butter dressing. This wasn't told to us before - it was a bit underwhelming. 2) the asparagus side came with 4 stalks. 4. it wouldn't have been so obvious but the plate was huge. 3) the shrimp pasta dish: you had to peel the shrimp. SERIOUSLY? there is sauce all over the shrimp that you need to peel? Few nit-picky items: 1) Our server convinced my mom to let the kitchen crack the lobsters. Ok, but, they didn't. And we had to ask to have the $2 charge removed. 2) We were constantly asking for water. 3) A general lack of attentiveness by the wait staff. Other recommenders suggest desserts: I thought it was meh. nothing out of the world, nothing horrific (the mousse/cake dessert). I'm not sure what the difference is between Fish and Coral Seafood except worst decor and a shorter cocktail menu. it's ok if you want seafood and don't want to drive, but for the price .... ($150/3 including a bottle of wine), it could be better - or at least more attentive.

I have been here twice. The 1 st time was pretty good. I got a lobster roll. We just went for our anniversary, and it wasn't great. I got the sword fish ths time which was such a small portion, and was just o.k. My husband got a lobster dish which he did not like and was really overpriced. The sides were good though. Sides, wine and ambiance give it 3 stars, although I don't think we will be back.

I've been to Coral Seafood a couple of times and have enjoyed each visit. The food and service have been consistently good. Not cheap, but I enjoy that the restaurant adds another "fine dining" option to the Marlborough area. As an added bonus, you can make a night of things by parking once and visiting the Vin Bin for good wines and cheese and Starbucks all in the same plaza as Coral Seafood.

My husband and I had lunch here this past weekend. We both had the lazy lobsters and it was fantastic! Plenty of lobster on top of some seafood stuffing with a little drawn butter. Lobster was cooked perfectly. Appetizers were clam chowdah and scallops wrapped in bacon. Also delicious. Would definitely visit again!

I liked the Fish. This is the second time I've been there since its name change. It is more expensive than it was as before, and far more expensive than most places. The price may not be worth it, but the food was good. I had the ribeye and stuffed shrimp. The steak was cooked just right at medium rare and parted under the knife with ease. The shrimp were flavorful and large. It came with a side of mushroom wild rice and sauteed spinach which were both well prepared. We sat in the lounge section, which is towards the front. They had the front sliding windows open and the fans turned on. It was annoying to have the fans blowing on the legs (wearing shorts) and the constant white noise. The bartender was excellent and very attentive. He came around often to check on all the tables. He was not one to wait behind the bar for someone to call him. The decor is nice but impractical. If you sit at one of the high top tables in the lounge, the person sitting on the high bench does not have any comfortable place to rest their feet. It is also dark. The low light it made it hard to read the menus and sales receipt. I had dinner and my friend did not. I had three glasses of Cabernet and my friend two glasses of Pinot Grigio. The bill totaled $98.82. This i more than I would've expected, however the food was very good. I would go back for a special occasion.

We hadn't dined here for a year or so, but the $1 oysters on Sunday's lured us. We ordered the guava margaritas, that for $9 should have been in a bigger glass for that price, and it tasted more like grapefruit than guava, very bitter. We ordered 2 dozen Blue Point oysters, they were just okay, and most we had to remove shell pieces from our mouths afterwards. The bread they served was stale and wasn't tasty at all. My BF got the cioppino ($29), it had 6 small mussels, 2 scallops, 3 medium shrimp, and 1/2 small lobster split, surrounded by stewed chopped tomatoes, and topped with mashed potatoes. It had very little flavor and the lobster claw and arm had to be removed and opened on your own, so you had to put your fingers in the tomatoes & mashed to fish them out and open, very messy and un-necessary. The dish wasn't enough to fill him up, even after bread and oysters. I didn't order an entree, and glad I didn't. Our bill for 2 margaritas, 1 beer, 24 oysters and the cioppino was $80. I will not return unless it's just for the $1 oysters and beer.

This place was fantastic. The atmosphere was great- big windows, jazz band playing, nice atmosphere. The food was out of this world. Usually go to Island Creek for oysters and these were just as good. I had the baked stuff shrimp for dinner- DELICIOUS. Highly recommend this place for a hot date.

Before I moved here MA I had eaten here when it was Coral Seafood and the food was yummy especially the lobster salad and the canjun shrimp, when I returned back they had changed the name and the food, the food was not good at all I ordered a lazy lobster and it was over cooked, so a few months later my husband and I decided to go back again sad to say it was even worst they had changed the menu again , our server informed us that they were still trying to figure out what to put on the menu that is why it has changed, we never went back after that.....

Great bartender. Awesome food. Will definitely be returning.

FISH, as it is now known, is pretty much Coral Seafood with a quickie redesign (slick black fluted lights along the windows, gawd-awful globe and spider lights in the worst of Greek Modernist decoration tradition hung in the interior). We have eaten here before, but my wife sampled a bite of theirs' at the Taste of Marlborough recently and was eager to have more. I called ahead as we drove home from a movie, and we were seated right away when we arrived. The first thing we noticed - the featured sample a week earlier at Taste of Marlborough, a swordfish fra diavalo over pasta, was no where to be found on the menu. They did, however, have shrimp fra diavalo. Our waiter was a friendly, if slightly awkward young man who's standard introduction was to explain that we were looking at the "wrong" menu.I n fact, he corrects us, we want to be looking at the WINE LIST AND COCKTAILS menu. Cute. A little swarmy in his attempt to direct us to the high profit center, but worth a smirk. She had the white sangria (white wine, apricot brandy), I tried the sidecar. Honestly? A little dry, but I never had a sidecar before, so it may be the greatest sidecar ever made. Apps: The crabcake and a cup of Mediterranean Fish Soup. The crabcake was fried a little crispy, but we agreed that there was plenty of meat in the middle. If only there were more then a squiggle of sauce on the plate. When the waiter brought the soup, he announced "here's the Gumbo." I told him I ordered Mediterranean Fish soup. He said, "well, yeah...Mediterranean gumbo...soup." Sorry. That doesn't cut it. We're talking 2 completely different bowls. The result was an under-seasoned broth with over-cooked fish and mushy vegetables, as if it had been made fresh a few days earlier and was on its last legs. I ate it, but disappointed. My final take on it: neither gumbo or Mediterranean. Our request for the swordfish fra diavalo over pasta was affirmed by the waiter after he checked with the kitchen. When it arrived, it was simply a swordfish steak on a plate with fra diavalo tomato sauce on top of it and a side of rice pilaf. The concern here is that why would Fish hand-out samples of something that is a) not on the menu and b) something they have trouble re-making a few days later by special request? They finally did bring a bowl of pasta with the whole fish steak on top, swimming in sauce, though my wife enjoyed it. I had the baked stuff lobster. Not too bad - the larger pieces of meat from the claws and tail were still pretty moist and flavorful, The crab stuffing was lacking in crab, but not bad with the drawn butter on it. Standard, but well-executed. The side of onion rings and creamed spinach were surprisingly good (I picked the sides from the menu so you can get other items). With tip, $100 even. A little on the pricey side for the 'burbs, and a little on the pricy side for a restaurant that doesn't get some of the details right. But what is a 2-star review could have easily been 3 or 4 if a few of those details were fixed. There are several very good choices for seafood in the 01752 area - few do fresh fish as well as The Wildwood, for example. If you're going to name your place Fish, you need to step it up.

I have been to Fish a bunch of times and loved it. Good service and upscale very fresh seafood. I love the diver scallops and the fried calamari. Yum!

I was pleasantly surprised by my dinner at Coral Seafood. I'd read some of the reviews and checked out the website before coming here for a team dinner and didn't have high expectations. I was expecting some Greek diner type of place with rude waiters and a terrible ambiance. I was completely surprised when I arrived and the place was very nice, I was immediately greeting by our waitress (who was bearing wine), and the menu had tons of items not shown on their website menu. I ordered the tuna steak rare (perfect!), with sweet potatoes (amazing!) and mashed potatoes (didn't even touch them the sweet potatoes were so good!). Portions were enormous (they give about 2 cups of sweet potatoes as a side) and the prices were cheap! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, even as the night wore on and some of our party got a bit more fiesty. I will definitely be back on my next business trip to Marlborough. I'll likely be by myself next time, but I think this place is suitable to both solo dining and to dining in groups.

Manfriend and I had been here about a year and a half ago and were less than impressed with the shoddy service and mediocre food buuuuuuuut time makes you forget and we tried it again. This time we were a little more impressed with the service and that made a lot of the difference between last visit's one star to this visit's 3 stars. The restaurant was full on a Friday night and it was nice to visit the Vin Bin and then jaunt over for dinner. My baked trio was good but manfriend's broiled combo was a little odd tasting... we both agree that I picked the better meal on both trips here. We might go again, if we don't want to drive and won't mind paying a lot fo what we felt were small/Medium portions.

We ended up going here for a graduation dinner essentially by accident, as the restaurant that I had made a reservation at was completely closed. I must say, I'm glad that I didn't read the reviews before coming here (as I normally do!) because had I seen all of the "one stars," I don't think I would have gone. As it was, this place offered an enjoyable enough dinner, though I can't give it five stars by any means. The atmosphere was pretty upscale, though the door was open to the outside (warm summer day) and police cars kept going by blaring their sirens. (Not that this is something they can really do anything about, but nevertheless, a bit distracting at times.) The restaurant was also almost totally dead. I don't mind that at all -- we are a very private family, and I'm quite happy not to have screaming children or a loud, boisterous party next to us while eating -- but it was a bit disconcerting how dead it was. I found the food to be *pretty* good -- I tried the calamari, which I thought was quite good (and I am pretty picky about calamari), and the crab cakes, which I thought were okay but honestly pretty disappointing for a seafood restaurant: bready and not all that meaty. The rest of my family seemed impressed enough with their selections. Desserts were quite good, and the wine list was extensive (though most wines were only available by the bottle, not by the glass -- the list was much shorter for "by the glass" wines). Overall, we had a "nice" dinner, though not an "outstanding" dinner. I would probably give the place four stars were the prices a bit lower. However, this place is priced and appears to be marketed as a very upscale restaurant, and I didn't feel that the food was worth the prices charged.

My boyfriend's parents took us out to eat here for my 25th birthday this week. I was very satisfied with the entire experience. We started out with drinks and a couple of appetizers. They had a good selection of wine and a number of beers on tap. My boyfriend and his dad got cups of clam chowder and they both thought it was rich and tasty, but that it could have used a little more clam. We also had scallops wrapped in bacon and homemade onion rings. I didn't try the scallops but the others love them and I VERY much enjoyed the onion rings. They were perfect - not too think in onion or batter, but they held together nicely. I had haddock topped with cheese, tomato and artichoke hearts with rice and steamed vegetables. I ate every bite. Fish was cooked wonderfully and tasted great. My boyfriend got a pasta dish with mussels, shrimp and scallops. His Mom got salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables and his dad got a medley with the same sides. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waiter was pleasant and good with recommendations. This was a tuesday night so the restaurant was not crowded and we got plenty of attention. The only downside was that they were out of a few menu items. Again, it was a Tuesday so maybe that's why, but I thought it was a little odd. Pricing was mid-range. You could spend $30 on a big meal there no problem but most are in the high teens, low twenties. Plenty of parking in the area. We can't wait to go back.

I have been to Fish before and had wonderful food. This last time, we were never seated, we seated ourselves at a dirty table, we had to clean off. No server came, a busboy finally came and set the table, apologizing they were very under staffed that evening. Someone finally took our drink orders, I ordered the Purple Velvet martini, which was brought to me in a small glass filled with ice. I was told there were no more clean martini glasses!!! My friend ordered oysters, they came back saying there were none. Then ordered mussels, same thing. Ordered the tuna, same thing... This went with 2 other items... The manager, Ian, was never seen, people at the next table, got up and left, because they were never waited on. I think the manager, Ian, should have been on top of everything, waiting tables if necessary and informing all new customers, the very limited menu. I was extremely disappointed.

I'm going to come down on this restaurant hard, because two people in my family got food poisoning here. 5 of us ate at Fish Restaurant for the first time on Sunday evening, 2/17/2013. My husband and I (locals) brought my sister --a professional chef-- her husband and my nephew. For appetizers, we ordered some clam chowders and one order of fried clams. We all ordered the steamed lobster. My nephew had a few bites of my husband's lobster. Later that night, my husband became violently ill from food poisoning and vomited twice. The next morning, my nephew said he'd also felt sick during the night and vomited later in the morning. Monday morning, my husband called the restaurant to report the food poisoning. He spoke to Eleni, who told him she was the manager. She called back later that afternoon and I spoke with her. Eleni told me she was the owner; in fact, she and her husband George Voyiatzis own the restaurant. She thanked me for taking the time to call. She told me that she'd had the kitchen check the lobsters (?), and change the water in the lobster tank, and the kitchen did some other procedures (?). She was insistent that my husband and nephew couldn't possibly have gotten sick eating there because no one had called to tell them "they'd gotten sick in ten years." I described who'd eaten what, and she still insisted that my husband and nephew had gotten sick from something else, possibly something they'd eaten in my house! I expected her to deny that the food from her restaurant had caused the food poisoning, but the accusation that my husband and nephew got sick from eating in my house was outrageous! I told her of course we were going to call and report the food poisoning, and we were also going to file a report with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and she laughed at me. I asked her if she thought that was funny? It was the most unprofessional reaction I've ever experienced. She replied, "Go ahead, report us if you want to, I'm not afraid of what they're going to do." I pointed out to her that we are following the procedure described on the MA Government website for food poisoning. And then she became rude and talked over me. Clearly, this woman has never had any professional training in Hospitality Management. Eleni asked for my name, I spelled it out to her. She asked for my address because she wanted to send me a gift certificate to the restaurant so we would come back. I told her we'd never eaten there before, and we will never eat there again. She became angry. I pointed out to her that her kitchen got my husband and nephew sick, why on earth would we ever eat there again? I told her my brother-in-law paid for the meal on his credit card, and I tried to give her his name, but she interrupted and said, "Have a nice week," and hung up on me. I called her back, and told Eleni that the appropriate action would be to comp our meal. Five of us ate in her restaurant and two in our group got food poisoning; we shouldn't have to pay for our meal-- at least not the lobster dinner that caused the vomiting. She said she'd have to talk to someone and she'd call me back, and then she hung up on me a second time. She never called me back. My husband called the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and made a report that day. On Tuesday, 2/17/2013, I called the Marlborough Board of Health an filed a report with a Sanitarian. The Public Health Nurse called me back on Thursday, 2/19/2013 after Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar had been inspected by the Sanitarian on Wednesday, 2/18/2013. She told me that Eleni Voyiatzis was present during the inspection. Without going into details, she told me that the inspector found a number of violations in the kitchen and issued many citations. The restaurant will have number of days to correct the violations and bring the kitchen up to health code, and then will be reinspected by the Board of Health. The Public Health Nurse also told me that she'd filed a report of the inspection and violations with the MA State Dept. of Public Health.

Last night we went out to this restaurant which is not the Coral Seafood. It is now called Fish. The service was excellent and so was the food. They had a very good selection of good and reasonably priced wines by the bottle or glass. Our waiter Scott was excellent. Made the dining experience so much more enjoyable. Definitely recommended.

While the raw oysters and fish on ice at the front door probably seemed like a good visual idea to the owners, by the time we got there for dinner it smelled. The restaurant was deserted except for 1 other couple. Everything, from the new faux-trendy decor to the wait staff to the food was just okay. There was something in the kitchen with a buzzer that kept getting going off every 10-15 min, very annoying and distracting. If you do eat there, do yourself and your clothes a favor and don't sit in one of the banquettes. The tables are too far from the seating and you have to lean way over to eat or risk dripping food on yourself.

Once Coral Seafood, with good value, simple decor, and a wide menu, Fish has gone upscale and not for the better. My starter was an alleged Ceasar salad, very comparable to the one at McDonald's, but drier and less tasty. Then the presumed ocean scallops, small and somehow suger filled, served with some sort of rice and cheese concoction which was not easy to identify, and tasteless. Speaking of sugar, Fish is another restaurant taking a cue from the many Chinese restaurants that substitute sugar for flavor, and of course contributing to metabolic disease. Even the butter served with the very tough stale bread is liberally mixed with sugar. The price is high ad the place was empty on a Friday evening. It is really a shame. Some people claim that Fish has fresher fish. This could be the case, as Coral's fish was always a day old, but still ok and a better value. I miss the gumbo. Don't listen to me if you want a more upscale place to take a date. It is a nice place with a good bar, and the staff are very nice.

Crab cakes had shells and no lump crab meat only shredded meat could have been from a can. Meals arrived and had no fork-asked server for one and she proceeded to take orders from two other tables before getting us one meanwhile our food was at the table getting nice and cold. I could go on and on...jaz was nice-not worth it though. Nice try.

Boston is too good at doing seafood for a restaurant to survive being subpar... and Coral Seafood is definitely subpar. I had a baked sampler for an appetizer that included 2 clams casino, 2 oysters rockafeller and 2 stuffed shrimp. The clams and oysters were unrecognizable because of all the stuff on top... and burnt bacon is not part of clams casino. The shrimp were dry and rubbery too. For dinner, I had the pecan crusted bluefish with a dijon mustard sauce served with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. This entree would have right at home in a mid-size chain hotel restaurant. How do you manage to both burn the pecans and make the "crust" soggy? The service was not very good either. I sat at the bar since I was dining alone tonight. It appears that they sent the bartender home and had the waiters taking turns serving the bar customers. There were 2 other parties at the bar and each of us had someone different serving us. I can see why there wasn't much business in there for dinner. I was persuaded to give this place a try based on the 80% approval rate on urbanspoon... man was that disappointing. Don't make the same mistake I did! You are better off driving to Sole Propieter in Worcester or Legal Seafood in Boston.

The god was well prepared which earned four stars but one star was lost due to the ridiculously small portion size on the lobster and scallop combo. Embarrassing, in fact. One of the most expensive items on the menu and the plate contained a partial chicken lobster and two scallops. REALLY??? I usually don't complain about portions as I'm a light eater, but it was so grossly under-whelming, I said something to the manager. To his credit he brought two more scallops. Don't think I would return.

The wine bar is really nice, and the food was great. I've been there a few times and it is always really good.

I want to shake the hand of the chef that came up/cooked the sesame crusted tuna I had last night at Fish. Just finished my leftover and I already want to go back. It was my first time and I was with 5 others (one person from FL). We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. ALSO the cherry stones are to die for!! Awesome service and slow pace in between meals. it was a great time! Well done!

Also found this spot on yelp and was not disappointed at all. We started with some fresh oysters. They had a separate menu for the oysters. I chose some from Maine. They were amazing. My coworker has the swordfish. It was cooked perfectly, I had the diver scallops. They were cooked perfectly and had a perfect balance of flavor. I would so come back for another meal. being from NY area I am always surprised to find such a good place outside MANHATTAN. Don't miss if you are local or just in for. Few dayav

Visiting Marlborough with my husband for work before a long weekend in Boston. We ate at Fish and it was fine. I had the shrimp and grits--the grits and broccolini were great; although the shrimp was huge, it was tough and tasteless. My husband had the surf and turf, and the steak and "lazy" lobster were fabulous. The atmosphere was nice; the service was just okay. If we lived near by, Fish probably would not be a go-to place for me.

Fish does a great job at serving creatively-prepared seafood dishes. The portions are generous, and with the freshest ingredients. Last night, the swordfish "chop" was a unique presentation that I had never seen previously. It was served over a roasted corn and linguiza hash and with a puréed winter squash, perfect complements to the fish... adding just the right textures and tastes to provide the perfect entrée triad. The moral here is don't be afraid to try new and unusual dishes at Fish... You'd miss out on something wonderful!

Unfortunately, we went late on a Monday night and they were out of quite a bit... but I've been in the business for a long time and I know that's a sign of freshness. Many restaurants place large orders twice a week... usually Tuesday and Friday, and they attempt to sell out of what they have. Anyways... The wine list was nice and large... good selection both by the glass and bottles and a few curveballs by the glass for anyone looking to be adventurous (when eating out you should be). Had the Albarino, which is one of my favorite Spanish wines and pairs perfectly with seafood... didn't disappoint. For an appetizer, we ordered the grilled octopus with roasted beets... which was ridiculously tender... whenever I cook it at home it is usually the consistency of a shoe. For dinner I had the Lobster and Pappardelle Pasta and my wife had the "Giant" Shrimp and Grits. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the pasta was cooked al dente enough.... but there was about 10-too-many cherry tomatoes in the dish... not a big complaint... just not my cup of tea. Wife's shrimp and grits was good, shrimp was far from giant... and the plate was a little... empty on presentation... but its grits... oh well. The flavors were there and the shrimp was cooked right, so again... can't complain. Service was decent, we sat in the bar section and the bartender came over to take our orders. He had a good personality and noticed my wife and I were just some 20-somethings out for something to eat. Being a server/sommelier for years, I appreciate when someone is capable of reading a customer and knowing how to treat them. The table next to us he treated like he was at Charlie Trotters... but for us he was a little more laid back and not in our face. I like that. Anyways, we'll go back again for a date night sometime. Decor was great, wine was good, and food was what we paid for.

We've dined at Fish a few times now and all of our meals were absolutely delicious. For the appetizers I highly recommend the octopus and the calamari. Recently, I had the boar ragu with pearl onions and mascarpone which was to die for! So yummy and filling - the pasta was just perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the fish and chips which were great - not amazing, but great. Previously he had the surf and turf which he said was absolutely perfect. I love the service, it's a bit slow maybe but I appreciate that when dining so we have plenty of time to talk and fill up on the amazing food...and drinks! I highly recommend the red sangia. (they're quite strong which is a huge plus in my book) I wish Fish was slightly less expensive so we could go all the time but I find the overall atmosphere and food worth the occasional splurge.

Went to Fish last night for dinner and to enjoy live jazz. A really enjoyable evening! From start to finish the meal was delicious. Warm sourdough bread was served and then I had to try their oysters. Delicious! Tender and tasty. For dinner we tried the wild salmon special with black lentils as well as other side dishes...all were well prepared and flavorful. For dessert we tried the lemon mousse--silky smooth and rich! Atmosphere is very nice--really like the bar area and modern decor. Service was perfect--a balance of being attended to and given space. Thoroughly enjoyed the music. Caught up with an old friend, Pamela Hines and the Suzanne Cabot Trio. So wonderful to see! Will absolutely be back for more music, oysters, and drinks!

Summary: poor service, mediocre dishes, poor value, not enough oysters, never again. Unabridged version: this is the last time I'll spend another dime at Fish. We typically go on Sundays to take advantage of the $1/oyster special - my kids love all seafood and this is a great deal. Unfortunately, the night we're out to celebrate the birthday of my youngest (and most enthusiastic oyster lover) we were informed that all buy the Virginia oysters were still left. That was disappointing, but even more so after we sat for almost 20 minutes waiting to order some oysters while we watched plate after plate being delivered to all the tables around us. Guess they ate them all. Frustrating, to say the least. I've never worked in a restaurant, but watching the "save my restaurant" reality shows, I'd say +12 minutes to get water and +20 minutes to order a drink and apps is not the sign of a well run business. The staff moved in slow motion and without purpose. The funniest part was watching a runner deliver a plate of oysters to the wrong table twice, then watching the waiter snatch the plate, loop back through the kitchen, and finally deliver it to the right table, pretending it needed some garnish. We did finally get a dozen oysters delivered, but without any cutlery, lemons, or an offer to get some hot sauce/Tobasco. The second funniest part was watching a waiter fail spectacularly to open a bottle of wine. She forgot to completely remove the foil cap and struggled to remove the cork. When pouring, the remains of the foil cap got in the way and splashed wine to and fro. Waitering 101 should have covered that basic skill. Back at my own table it was almost 50 minutes before our entrees arrived. That made no sense at all, considering the low number of occupied tables and simplicity of the dishes we ordered. Perhaps they're short in the kitchen. Not my problem. The scallops were "meh" - way below anything I've had anywhere else and not worth the $24 they charged. My oldest had the lobster BLT with fries. The fries were cooked "well done" - they snapped when you bite into them. Blech. How hard is it to make good fries? The chowder was good, according to my wife. That was the saving grace and why I didn't go with 1 star. Enough said, I'm too tired from the lack of good food to keep writing more. Oysters special or not, there's nothing that will get me to go back or recommend anyone I know spend a dollar there.

We had enjoyed before, but this time was not good. It began when they sat my wife (who has severe back issues and is legally handicapped) at a table which bothered her back. When she asked for a booth, the manager said that all the booths were reserved. He lied...no one ever sat in several of them, and by the time we left, the place was 3/4 empty. The service was good, but the Clam Bake and the Fried Seafood Platter were mediocre, and they seem to have raised their prices. At the end, we called over the manager to suggest that he approach people with handicaps with a little more empathy. He never apologized and instead cited their "policy" to keep booths open in case larger parties come in. If for no other reason than their lack of sensitivity to handicapped issues, we will not return.

One of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had. Two rounds of a variety of fresh oysters, followed by cioppino, all washed down by Peak Organic IPA. Can't comment on other dishes but both of the other members of our group also indicated it was the best cioppino they'd ever had. The oysters were wonderfully fresh and clean tasting and a splash of the vinaigrette sauce with lemon was my favorite. The cioppino included half a lobster, several scallops, shrimp, mussels, garlic mashed potatoes with greens and a drizzled cream sauce all immersed and on top of a garlicky tomato sauce you can't not dip the bread into. Been here twice and it's the only restaurant in my recent business travels that I'm compelled to get my wife to the next time we're on the east coast together. Service was quick, friendly and the recommendations were great.

lunch recently on a cloudy, trying to snow day.....nice facility, modernish with a pretty bar area, a fireplace up by the front windows and a lot of nice booths....service was very pleasant, drinks were very good and reasonably priced, food was great, calamari as an app, swordfish and the tuna were all very good or excellent and nicely presented, you do not however, get a whole lot of anything, but that is probably good for your diet, but it is not inexpensive either sooooo.....
(4)Joe S.
decided to give this place another chance and as many have said it's seriously over rated. the baked salmon dish was flavorless and the filet was among the worst cuts I have ever had. pretty bad when I can get a better cut at the local s&s.
(1)Julie C.
Server was miserable and in a huge hurry. Came back seldom and never smiled. Lobster was undercooked and filet was supposed to be medium rare and came out medium well. Server was irritated and owner came over and was argumentative. Definitely not worth the $400 bill!!!!!
(1)Manny L.
went there with my wife and daughter. the chowder was very good. I got the baked stuffed lobster. they only serve 1 1/4 lb lobster. it was too small and over cooked. I guess it is my fault for ordering it. the tail was non existing because of the size of the lobster and dry. the stuffing was ok. I would not order it again. Cost us $200.00 with tip. Not worth it for dinner. Obviously I don't mind paying for good food that is worth it, just don't think this was worth it. just my opinion.

When we arrived at FISH there was no record of our reservation. After waiting awkwardly, we were taken to a table. The hostess did not realize that she had seated two others from our party only a minute before. We discovered them at a nearby table. When a restaurant has downtown prices, I expect upscale food that is expertly prepared. 50% of our party was disappointed in their entrees because the fish was overcooked to the point of being dry. The waitress was not apologetic nor did she try to sweeten our impressions of dinner at FISH by offering a complimentary dessert. I was left feeling that FISH thinks it very special and doesn't understand that they fall short of what the menu promises. We won't be back.
(2)Marika R.
Our first two dinners at Fish in past 6 months were excellent. They had a special cut of swordfish on the menu that was very good both times. The seafood stew is wonderful too. We went back yesterday for dinner with friends, and I am sorry to say that the quality was not what we expected. Salmon had very little flavor, served lukewarm. They took meal back and redid it for me, but by then I had kind of lost my appetite. Halibut that our friend ordered was not particularly noteworthy. Disappointing, because we had thought that the new ownership had brought some improvement to Coral Seafood. At least there are white tablecloths on the hard and cold copper tables now.

The raw bar is always top-notch -- with varieties outside the norm. The bartenders and wait staff know their "stuff"..... Martini had an ice-glaze -- yummy! Something needs to be done with the half-dead, scraggly plants in the entrance way -- they do NOTHING to enhance the restaurant and certainly are NOT inviting. A streamlined, clean entryway would speak more to the essence of FISH. Lose the plants. Something also needs to be done with the bread -- it is dry and hard -- if it's fresh baked, you could fool me. Not the least bit appealing. Despite the plants and bread, it is a go-to place -- especially on Sundays when the oysters are only $1.....

A friend of mine has been raving about Fish for as long as I can remember so I jumped at the chance to take her there for her b-day. This isn't a place you would expect to find in Marlboro both in terms of the ambiance and the food. I'm extremely picky when it comes to seafood and theirs is right on the money in terms of freshness and preparation. For appetizer we had the crispy goat cheese and caesar salads. The goat cheese was light as air, the coating was super crispy, the inside was smooth and creamy and the peach puree that came with it complemented it perfectly. The caesar salads were different than the traditional with just a hint of dressing. For entrees I had the Corvino fish special, which was cooked perfectly, medium rare with crispy skin. It came with an amazing chimchurri sauce and a sunchoke puree that was to die for. My friend had the swordfish dish with a black garlic sauce and grits that she was super happy with. The drinks were also amazing. I highly recommend the Purple Velvet and the Mad Dogs & Englishmen, you can't go wrong with either one. The service was also stellar...our waitress was great at making recommendations and creating a dish that suited out tastes. Great food, fantastic service and divine drinks, you can't go wrong at Fish!

Fish lover here, and someone who orders fish all over the place wherever that I go. So asked a half dozen different people where to get the best seafood while here in this rural suburb west of Boston. 2/3rds of all people that I asked said that the best fish place in this area was Fish Restaurant in Marlboro. Okay, with odds like this: it will be my first dinner restaurant to visit this week. I asked about specials and was informed that the salmon is a specialty. Wanting to be certain that I am getting fresh asked if this was Atlantic Salmon. No, farm raised. Ooops, cant eat farm anything, what is wild? Everything else except oysters. Wonderful that leaves many choices. I know that swordfish is not the most sustainable fish, but once in a while I will splurge. Now we cannot come to Boston without ordering a clam chowder so went ahead and did that as well. (What the heck, I have lots of room in a fridge in my hotel chilling a nice Argentine Malbec that I picked up from Kappy's extensive wine collection and the remains of a Mediterranean chicken salad from lunch at Franco's Trattoria in Sudbury). So after a 10 minute drive I get to the hotel and set up for a nice work night and dinner. Have been tantalized by the scent during the whole drive and I cannot wait to see what awaits. So uncork the Malbec to let it breathe and pour a half glass while setting up. Okay so what to try first? The clam chowder is technically an appetizer, but I am in the privacy and freedom of a hotel room so what the heck, right? So a delicious bite of swordfish mmmm interesting; a mild blend of soy, onions, carrots, mushrooms, oh yes, very tasty, I snuck a few more bites before finally sampling the chowder. Even still I had a tough time going to the chowder. Imagine tender, flaky, juicy swordfish full of flavor. If I had some salsa, I would have been in rapture. (One lament about travel: need an assortment of salsas). The swordfish was quite tasty. Was, well still is, it was more than I could finish in one sitting. Is it the best swordfish that I ever had? Close. Probably not the single best, but certainly in the top ranges for restaurants. I mean come on: I live by the coast of the Pacific, have been to Seattle and Alaska for weeks/months on end, San Francisco bay area, San Diego, Baja/Mexico, the Eastern seaboard of the US and to the great lakes countless times, and have pulled fish out of the water and eaten them within minutes. The swordfish gets 5 out of 5, there was no way to improve shy of salsa which should never be more than an option, not forced on those who prefer milder/tamer fare. The chowder at least 4 out of 5, there were not many potatoes but lots of clams without a single bit of sand. Fish Restaurant will be on my to-do list when I am here in this rural area and is extremely likely to see me again this week before I come home. Have seen many places around here, and have to force myself to try at least some of the others. About the score: I would give Fish Restaurant a 4.5 but rounded up since I cannot do partial point score. Ambience is nice, food quality and service are great. Staff are friendly, attentive and polite.

The atmosphere at Fish is nice and upscale. Marlborough doesn't have much in terms of upscale dining, so it's nice to have options. Unfortunately, this option is permanently off my list of places to dine per my earlier review. The two biggest issues are the rude front of house staff and inconsistent quality control. I've already addressed FOH, so I'll be more specific about inconsistent quality. As I said, my husband and I dined here almost weekly when we first moved to the area so we've tried most menu items. Sometimes the lobster in dishes would be perfect and other times it would be chewy. Such as in the lobster pot pie that is not currently on the menu. The Caesar salad lacked flavor and the croutons were often soggy. The crab cakes were quite good. My husband enjoyed the oysters very much. He was less enthusiastic about his steak and lobster dishes. Sometimes they were good and other times not so much. Chewy lobster and overcooked steak when ordered medium well. For surf and turf items, the pricing with respect to portion could be better. The decor is very modern, inviting, and tasteful. Beautiful in fact. No complaints at all. But the issue with service simply soured it for me. On our first visit, the servers were just standing around. Granted, it was not busy at all, but it just felt weird to have them just standing there watching you eat. When it was busier, this was not an issue, but you still kind of got the feeling that the wait staff wasn't very experienced at times. And FOH needs an attitude adjustment. People can and will choose to go elsewhere if service is poor. It's not bad by Marlborough standards, but could stand to improve.

We came here on a whim on a Sunday and were excited to sit in a booth that faced the outside. The weather was nice and the windows opened up to expose the outdoors, so the ambiance was very welcoming. We were also delighted to learn that they serve $1 oysters on Sunday! We ordered a dozen (3 each of four different kinds) and were pleased. The wine selection was nice and the cocktails seemed enticing, though we stuck to one glass of wine each in my party. The wine prices were a little steep (~$9-$15 per glass), but I suppose that served as a good way to pace ourselves on a Sunday afternoon! I am giving only 3 stars because the service was quite slow and the servers seemed preoccupied. Waters were not refilled without multiple requests, and our server forgot to bring some items over that we had asked for. It took about 8 minutes for our drinks (two wines and a soft drink) to be delivered, and over 15 minutes for our oysters. It was early when we arrived (maybe 4ish?) and there weren't many other parties in the restaurant at all, so I thought this was abnormally slow. Fortunately I was with good company, so we didn't mind terribly. The salads were mediocre-- the dressings were bitter and lacked flavor. But, the crab cakes appetizer that we got to share was delicious, and the entrees were good as well. The presentation was nice, and the portions were pretty large. It wasn't the best meal I've had, but it was a pretty fun spot for a girls day out on a Sunday! The entrees were pretty expensive, some seeming to be more fairly priced than others. I would return to take advantage of the dollar oysters and the bright location, but I don't think it will become a regular spot for us.

This place defines OK. Good ambiance, decent service, ok food. We will come back to try it again. Details: We had a great table next to the fire place; the restuarant was maybe half full on a Thrus night. Our server was ok but nothing too helpful or prompt but mildly helpful. We started with the chowder at our servers behest and while it was clam chowder it was ok. I wish I had a better word but - there was a good amount of clams but the chowder base was a little too milky and that drowned up some of the flavor so it ended up pretty rich and bland.. Entrees - I had the special fish and it was cooked just the way I like it and had a lot nice flavor. My date had a salmon salad and it was fine, nothing too spectacular.
(3)Annie B.
The bar was great with the huge open windows for almost a patio feel. The restaurant is laid out with cool, cozy booths. The whole meal was great. The wine was very good, the bread with herb butter was good, the Caesar salad was good. Everyone's meal was really good. I had some pasta with lobster, which was rich but so good. We also got the oat crusted haddock which was good as well. My husband ordered ribs, which were totally unconventional, but delicious as well. Not only that, but the service was fast and attentive. I brought my kids and the restaurant seemed a bit on the fancy side for kids, but the restaurant provided them with crayons, came to take their order first and continuously went out of their way to keep them happy and having fun. We came to Fish years ago and I don't remember it being memorable in any way. This time was so memorable and we will definitely be returning again and again.
(5)Denise L.
Been here twice with the family for dinner in the past six months. This time was better than before. Starters included an order of fried calamari - cooked to perfection and it included batter fried jalapenos that we thoroughly enjoyed. However, a very small portion. For the main course, had the cioppino, fish and chips, and baked haddock filet. Cioppino with fantastic flavor. Both fish cooked perfectly and delicious. Clam chowder served as the child's meal...no children's menu here.

Party of four on a busy Saturday night, we were seated immediately and offered drinks from an enticing cocktail menu. From that point on the service was quite good and the food much better than expected. All our entrees came out hot, rich with delicious sauces and fresh sides. Especially enjoyed the scallops. Finished the meal with sweet, crispy beignets with a maple dip. Wonderful! Also adding to our enjoyment was great jazz band playing by the open patio doors on a warm September night. We will definitely return to FISH.
(4)Carrie R.
Had a business dinner here. Hostess sat us at a super wobbly table and when we brought it to her attention she responded that she wasn't very good at fixing those, that our server was better at it....ummm, ok. Well, we had to ask the busboy to fix it. I found it funny that the first "special" that was mentioned was duck....I expected seafood. Oysters were good. Food was ok, had a white fish which was a bit overcooked. potatoes underneath were cool. waitress did know the wine menu well.

We were looking for a halfway place to meet some friends and came upon some reviews for this place. None of us had been there, so we didn't know what to expect. First, when we walked in we were immediately impressed with the ambiance. We arrived a few minutes early and we were told we could either be seated at our table or at the bar. We opted for the bar as it was really cute and there was a band setting up. Once seated, we were given excellent service and our food was really quite good. Two of us had the swordfish special, one had the diver scallops and one had the baked haddock. We all ordered salads first and creme bruille for dessert. All in all we were very pleased with the whole evening. My only critique is that it was a little pricey. The wine was a little high, and the salads were $8 dollars, added to the cost of your dinner. I think I would rather have my entree priced higher and have the salad come as part of the meal. We will definitely give this place another try. You should, too!

A few business associates and I decided to try Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar at the recommendation of a local work associate. When I arrived I was a little concerned that there were only two patrons at tables. I decided to have a glass of wine and wait for my friends. Jessica, the bartender, was very helpful and knowledgable about the wines they were offering. Our party was seated at a table near the kitchen which suprising wasn't noice at all. Our waiter, Steven, was friendly, patient and helpful in us choosing between options. If you're going to Fish, be sure to ask to sit in the section Steven is working. As for the food - appetizers were all very good from the crab cakes to the Calamari. Our only complaint was that the portions were small. Our main cources were all very good. The Halibut special was very good, the texture and taste was a 10. A couple of people in our party had the scallops which were also very good. If you're in the area be sure to visit and treat yourself.
(4)Mark T.
We stopped in here for Mothers Day, food was excellent good service. Stripped bass special was cooked perfect, also would recommend the fried clams, melted in your mouth.
(5)Michael S.
Awesome food service ambiance. Wake me up am I in Marlborough. Can't wait to go back.
(5)John M.
Supurb! Reservations for 8:00 and we were seated at 7:50. Live jazz playing made the perfect background sounds. Our waitress Jill was perfectly attentive, always there at the right time and not overbearing. The calamari was light, the seared halibut was full of fresh taste and the scallops melted in your mouth. Finished off with a great tasting creme brûlée and this meal was one of the best we've had in a long time. Although tonight's dinner was for a special occasion (our 18th anniversary) we will be back for more dining.
(5)Matt I.
Great to have found a place like this in the area. Both had the boiled lobster, and started with calimari. Will definitely be going back to try everything else on the menu.
(5)Jesse J.
I loved the decor. I had the calamari and it was the best I have had in a long time. Probably since Italy. The chowder was solid, but the star of the show was the crusted baked halibut. OMG! You have to try it. Amazeballs. Staff was young and fresh and on point.
(4)Joseph M.
Great experience. We were there (four adults) on a busy Friday night. Good atmosphere. Service was great. Dinner was great. We had fried clams, calamari, and the leek risotto w/truffle oil for appetizers. Clams and calamari were cooked perfectly. The risotto tasted good. I really like the leek in it, but it was a bit over cooked. Probably prepared in advance and left simmering during service. I had the cioppino. It was delicious. Presentation included half a lobster - cut length-wise - which looked great. One suggestion would be to keep the lobster shell for presentation but to pull out the meat along with the other fishes. Overall, it was cooked perfectly and definitely the best choice at the table! I would definitely return.
(4)K N.
I've eaten here twice, on my way home from business in Marlborough, and both times I have been very pleased. The prices didn't startle me because I usually dine in greater Boston, and they are commensurate with that market. Excellent food. Had the cioppino both times, as well as oysters. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the meal- great bread, great wines, great food and selection, great atmosphere. Service was fine, too. In general I prefer to try different restaurants, but I'm so happy with this one that I will probably stop there again on my way home from my next business trip! I totally agree with the other reviewer who would rather see a restaurant run out of something rather than being served seafood that has been stockpiled. They ran out of a certain type of oyster while I was there, but instead of throwing a hissy fit and writing a bad review, I chose something else and continued to enjoy the evening.
(4)Mary Beth C.
Pleasantly surprised to find such a terrific restaurant in Marlboro. Nice decor, punctual seating for a reservation. Great waitress -- friendly, solid recommendations but not overly pushy. My friend had Caesar and diver scallops -- she loved them and they looked terrific. I had a swordfish "chop" special -- new to me, moist and delicious. Crab risotto cake wasn't as memorable, but my mixed green salad was tasty (but just like 1000 other mixed green salads, down to the cranberries and goat cheese. Good thing I enjoy that combo.) Fish may be a 3 star restaurant in a larger city, but compared to the local alternatives, it earned the 4th star.
(4)Holly D.
Nothing special, wouldn't make the trip back.
(3)Maude L.
Rolled into Marlborough after a brutal drive on the Mass Turnpike and stumbled upon this restaurant. We always try to avoid the chain restaurants in favor of local establishments. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the sesame crusted tuna and my companion had the fish and chips. Both were well prepared, seasoned nicely and delicious. The wine and IPA were excellent as well. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is the service was somewhat slow (they weren't busy) and the prices were a little on the high side.
(4)Sneha S.
Ordered grilled octopus - strictly ok - if you are hungry the portions are a little modest - one piece of octopus with few baked potatoes . Ordered the salmon and swordfish for dinner - again strictly ok . The salmon was well steamed and the swordfish was served with an interesting mint / coriander / parsley chutney - which was nice . Finally we had the Chocolate symphony for dessert and it was A-awesome :)

Awesome spot in Marlborough if your in a seafood mood. The seafood is very fresh ... i had the broiled scallops which were the special that night and they were outstanding. Also couldn't stop eating the lemon pepper fries we had..they were very good. The service was good, the scene was nice and relaxing, they have a normal sized bar with a few tv's ... good to go hang out when sports game is on and you're looking for a relaxing night. If I'm in the area again I'd go back

I've had a few great meals here but unfortunately had a terrible birthday experience for my husband a few days ago. I was told we could not bring in a cake so asked if there was something they could do to celebrate there. They said yes, they did celebrate bdays and we'd be all set. Upon arriving, I asked again to confirm and they said that we were all set- they knew it was my husbands bday. After dinner the waitress passed around the dessert menu. No one ordered as we expected they would be bringing out a piece of cake or whatever for my husband. We waited and waited... And nothing. We finally asked for the check and my mother asked the waitress what had happened as we were supposed to be celebrating a birthday. She told us that because we didn't order dessert off the menu, there was nothing for her to put a candle in, so hence, nothing. What?? Really?? No sorry from her. No apology.. It was our fault for not ordering any dessert. As we waited for the check she came back with a sympathy chocolate mousse that she practically threw on the table without saying a word. Totally awkward, embarrassing and unnecessary. A big ordeal that should not have been. All we expected was a simple little piece of cake with a candle and a "happy birthday" (more for my 6 yr old son) and what we got was a very rude waitress, a disappointed child and just a bad ending to what had been a nice dinner. Next time, make it clear that you'll stick a candle in a dessert ordered off the menu and that's it- and get rid of the rude waitress!

My wife and I went here on Friday night, 8/15, for dinner. We made a reservation and were promptly seated when we arrived. The wait staff was very attentive. We are both oyster lovers and they have a great selection of oysters on their menu. We split a half dozen Duxbury oysters and they were fresh and delicious. For the entree, we both had the Giant Shrimp and grits. The entree came with broccoli rabe and a six minute egg that was flash fried with a panko bread crust coating. The portion size was perfect and everything was delicious. I had a cappuccino to end the meal. This was a bit disappointing because it had a burnt taste to it. However, it definitely did not put a damper on the rest of our experience.

Went here for lunch last week. Clam chowder was different, but good, with pieces of bacon on top. I ordered the baked swordfish, which was good perfect. Swordfish can easily be over cooked. I was a little disappointed with the size of the lunch entree for the price.

The $1 oyster deal was a disappointment to us. It took them almost 40 minutes...yes 40 minutes to bring out a dozen oysters while we were watching the guy shuck them, way too long and they weren't even good quality oysters so we didn't have a good experience with that. The entrees were small portion and overpriced but the quality of the food was good. The service was lengthy and it took us almost 3 hours to get in and out when it wasn't busy.

If you are going to this restaurant for the food only you are in luck. The food is very good. I was with 5 others and between the swordfish, scallops, fish&chips, and seared tuna we all agreed the food was worthy. I gave thief 3 stars for indifference, rudeness and overall lack of friendliness. As a party of 6 we did not all arrive at the same time and they would not seat the first couple. The restaurant was not busy on a Monday night and there were many open tables and there was no line out the door waiting to get in. I understand that policy on a busy night but they need to lighten up. The waitress was attentive but seemed put off when she TWICE interrupted the conversation at our table. The lack of friendly atmosphere and customer service is the main reason I would not go back. Good luck

We love the braised grilled octopus appetizer! My husband and I keep going back - we each order an octopus appetizer and then we split a side of risotto - a bargain. Plus its a cool funky atmosphere for Marlborough!

Both the food and the experience were amazing! We came on a Saturday night when they have live jazz = awesome. Had both calamari and the crunchy goat cheese as appetizers. Calamari was cooked perfectly, which is hard to find. Not chewy at all. The goat cheese was absolutely delicious with the pear glaze side. My fiancé got the filet mignon and said it was very good and I got the haddock. It was cooked so well and the butternut squash purée with it was excellent. Their sangria was great. I had a pear mixed drink (I forget the exact name) that was delicious. Then we split the crème brûlée...to die for. To top it off? The manager brought us a sherry on the house to pair with the dessert. It was the perfect touch. Our waiter was courteous, had great suggestions, and an awesome personality. We will definitely be returning!!

Decided to make the trip after seeing them on Phantom Gourmet and it was worth it. Don't let the location fool you (in a mini strip mall area connected to a Starbucks)... at first I thought... great, this place is going to be a run of the mill chain. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a hidden gem for sure! Presentation was perfect and each course of my meal was better than the last. I had: The mixed green salad My table shared the mussels (the sauce that the mussels was in is unbelievable... put it this way, my brother drank some of it through a straw) For my main course, I went simple - fish and chips - and it was perfect. Relaxing and fun atmosphere - Friendly/Happy staff which is refreshing - the manager came and asked us how our meal was and then checked in again at the end of the night. We sat at one of the high tops towards the front of the bar area that gave the feel of being outdoors but was next to the indoor fireplace. Drinks were great. Overall perfect night. However, if you go, plan to spend some money - there was four of us and after all was said and done it was approximately $52/per person. I will be making a second trip there to check out the lunch menu.

What's better than going into a place on a whim, no expectations, and being totally blown away? Went here in a group of four when my father in law suggested trying to (close to where they live). It was last minute and everyone was hungry and not picky so we went for it. The decor--chic and clean but still very relaxed and unpretentious which is welcome! The food--completely fantastic and reasonably priced. Between us we had the halibut, the scallops, the shirmp & grits, and the swordfish. Every one of us loved our food. The best part was possibly the oysters before the meal though. It was a Sunday which apparently is when they have $1 oysters! We helped ourselves to 2 dozen and they were fresh and flavorful. I also feel that I need to make a note of their incredible presentation. You certainly eat with your eyes first here! --The service: wonderful and welcoming. The manager came by the thank us for coming in and see how our food was. He did mention that they recently revamped the menu and were going through some changes to mix things up. You could tell they were really trying to drive some traffic into the place. 100% recommend this spot if you are Metro West and looking for some downtown-qualtiy seafood and a great wine list.

We had the grilled octopus, fried clams, lobster blt, and tuna. All were excellent. A lot of people complain about the portions but I thought they were quite generous, we were stuffed! It's hard to find octopus cooked right especially in the suburbs, but they nailed it.

Our experience was one of the best!! The atmosphere was warm and inviting with live jazz music! The service was excellent and professional. The food, filet, cooked to perfection, and the oat crusted haddock, mouth watering! The wine selection was vast, serving my favorite, Newton unfiltered Chardonnay, was amazing! The manager also offer us a free glass of dessert wine that made our experience one I would suggest to anyone!

I went to fish for the first time a few months ago, I got the steak with brussels sprout cobbler and fries. Everything was perfect, I asked for medium-rare and it came out just that, the cobbler was creamy and tasty, and the fries were crisp. Now for the bad news... We went again a few weeks ago and I got the same meal. The steak was still cooked alright, more on the rare side which I was ok with but it was very bland and needed lots of salt. The brussels sprout cobbler was burnt and all the cream was dried up and the fries were soggy and had no salt. The first time we went I was sure it would be my new favorite place, but now im not sure I will be back.

Been here several times for lunch and it's always delicious! The Caesar salad with salmon is my go-to. Generous piece of fish and cooked absolutely perfectly. Will be back!

I came with my friend on a Monday evening, at that time the restaurant was kind of empty. I really liked the atmosphere; the restaurant has a modern style and romantic feel in the evening. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly. I also had the chocolate mousse-very tasty. I will be back next time I am in the area.

I am a New-Englander through and through, and have quite high standards for my seafood. I was little skeptical about this place (who's heard of good seafood inland? In Marlborough???) but we trekked down 495 for a Sunday night dinner. Let me say, this place is the definition of 'Hidden Gem'. Tucked away in a strip mall next to a Starbucks, it's a trendy, clean and modern atmosphere (gorgeous bar, hightop tables next to folding glass doors, allowing for open air dining). The bar is fantastic, great cocktail list, EXPERTLY made. Most importantly.... The food was amazing. Superlative. Shocking. Authentic. Fresh. I cannot tell you how good this is. If you appreciate seafood, or have never had it ever before, this place simply must be on your list. The mussels appetizer is the best mussels I've ever had (the sauce was a masterpiece). The clam chowder (my personal favorite dish) is quite literally the best I've ever had. Perfect clam taste upfront, creamy throughout, with a strongly buttery and smokey finish. And garnished with bacon? Yes please. The fried clams (which originally drew us here) were some of the best I've ever enjoyed. Fish and chips were stellar for a non-beer-battered variety. Expansive choices of oysters, all fresh. I understand why this place is relatively unknown, but I can't believe how few reviews there are on this site. Go here. Support an amazing restaurant in an obscure place. You might even have a life-changing experience!

Enjoyed this restaurant for a birthday dinner. Definitely feels a little more upscale, but we did bring a toddler here with us for an early seating, and the staff was very nice about it and did have high chairs. Shared 2 appetizers: steamed mussels and fried clams. Had a pan-seared sea bass special which was served with potatos au gratin and onions - delicious. Diver scallops were also good. The service was very attentive and courteous. FYI, they charge a fee of $2/person.if you bring a birthday cake for them to serve ("plating fee").

Fish in Marlborough used to be Coral seafood and since its transition, it has acclimated itself as the best dining option in Marlborough. Fish really earns their stripes in the pricing and wine list. With ~10 whites and ~10 reds by the glass and over 50 bottled wines, you can always find a solid pairing with your meal. Ian, the GM, is extremely knowledgeable about his wines, and always has the best suggestion to pair your meal. We recently went here for a dinner with friends and got the $1 oysters (Sundays), Fried Calamari, and Crab Cakes to start. All solid options, with not much filler in the cakes. Our main course consisted of Diver Scallops with Lobster, and two Seafood Cioppinos. The scallops were cooked to perfection, but the Cioppino was to die for. Half a lobster, 4-5 scallops, 4-5 shrimp, and 6 mussels for only $27! Solid meal, solid price. We finished with a delightful Muscat that capped off a fantastic meal. Great food, great service, great wine list, knowledgeable staff. A top notch meal.
