Back again for the liver mousse. Yum!! Ordered that for first course and then the salad lyonnaise for my main. Asked for some soppresata on it so I could have some protein. That was unnecessary. Would have been perfect without. Waitress made a great wine suggestion. Thank you! I do order the liver mousse each time I come, and usually walk away feeling like I'm going to burst. Had just a salad afterward and was perfect. Felt like I just left a bistro in Paris. Husband had charcuterie board and the chicken. He was happy too.

Went here to have brunch to celebrate my birthday. Everything was fantastic! Drinks, food and service. The atmosphere is modern and elegant (something that is lacking in Mhead). They are almost always packed, so make a reservation online or by calling in advance. We had pancakes, benedicts, bloody marys and coffee. Wish we had room in our stomach for more. We will definitely be back to try dinner (cocktails sounded delicious too). Thanks for a wonderful experience!

My better half and I were childless for the first time in a long time. Thank you, in-laws! We went to a few other places with really long waits at 7pm on a Friday. We had not been back to 5CK thinking we could sit at the bar and have a quick meal. We ended up with a cozy table and Stephanie as our server. Start to finish, a great time. Relaxing, well paced, really good food. It made me remember what a food snob I am. I had the most interesting drink to start I have probably ever had. Kudos to the bar. The El Bandito. Tequila and bits of Jalepeno. Genius! I don't normally drink Tequila, but when I do....... Charcuterie (All made in house and all fantastic, down to the fig mustard and pickled garlic) plate shared, duck confit cassoulet, and the tuna tartare as dinner. Dessert was great. Gave Stephanie a Tap Out sign and left stuffed and happy. Just heard they serve Brunch........

First time here and food is good but I find there was not a lot on the menu that they offered. Is a little pricey but may go back for a special occasion

Dinner was excellent. Had the Mushroom Tartine for the appetizer. It was fantastic. Steak Frittes was perfect. What a great restaurant and I am very lucky to be living within walking distance. Food great and so was the service.

Dining here is always a delight. Delicious cocktail concoctions, fresh oysters, and hands down the best pate in the entire world. A pricey night out but well worth the expense. Keep up the good work!

Best brunch around! Service is always great and the omelettes are to die for. PLEASE put the crepes back on the menu! My boyfriend and I miss them!

5 Corners Kitchen is a consistent reliable restaurant-bar. Decor is a mix of Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn with a refined atmosphere of a upscale resort restaurant on a island. Food is equal to any new french restaurant you'd find in Boston but with a friendly attitude and local charm. It is a destination for anyone living North of Boston. Good wine list, nice bar with cocktails, also very good desserts. Good for a date, small groups, business dinner, special occasion

If you are looking for magnificence in French Bistro fare but in a more casual atmosphere this is an amazing place to go. Many dishes are organic and use the freshest catch and produce. It is gourmet with out the price or the attitude. It would make for a lovely casual event local or a memorable outing with a small group or date. I recommend cod that is prepared with saffron rouille and a wonderful lemony vinaigrette. Fabulous cocktails that are fun and inventive. The decor is fun but elegant and it is easily accessible to the north shore instead of driving into Boston for arguably a less impressive meal.

Had dinner at 5 Corners Kitchen this past Sunday. This was our first visit, and it was totally delightful. Nice and airy, lots of windows to let in the natural light, mirrors inside to make the place seem expansive, and fun, funky light fixtures. Hip, chic, urban. Not at all what I've ever experienced in Marblehead before. Our server was a wonderful woman who knew and loved the food and set the tone for our night beautifully. We told her what we were having for dinner and asked for her advice regarding what red wine to have; she came back with two tasting glasses for us to try. Periodically she would check in to see if we were enjoying a particular dish or if we needed anything. Another server also kept tabs on us, asking how we liked something. He was as enthusiastic as she was about the food, and I've got to say, their energy about the place was infectious. Fabulous warm bread and butter! Warm and crispy baguette with the creamiest butter. I ordered the onion soup gratinee, and I have to say, it was the best I've had in years. Magnificent deep, rich stock, loads of delicious onions, and a fabulous gruyere melted to perfection on top. Definitely order this if you like onion soup. Mussels were really good as was the tuna tartare. We also had a fabulous dessert, some sort of cakey tart with prunes in it. It tasted way better than I'm making it sound! One thing I'll say is that the menu isn't geared for kids (I don't have any), so I wouldn't come for a family meal. The entrees are in the mid-$20's, but you can have a few smaller plates, which is what we did. They have a good looking burger for $13, which we might try next time. Drinks were reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back!

We have been here a few times but last night was by far the best and I would say one of the better restaurant experiences I have had in the North SHore ever! Service was exceptional and the food was absolutely amazing. i woke up thinking about and and can't wait to come back! One draw back is the drinks were VERY weak. I was also at the bar the night before and they were very weak. Not a place I would think of as serving a weak drink but they were both days. I will still come back maybe with a flask next time :)

Nice place - we did Brunch. The Side Entrance wasn't clearly marked so we marched into the bar by mistake and were mis-directed to the hostess station, we ended up not bothering and found a spot at the Bar. Too Complicated and slightly annoying. The bar waitress was really attentive. I wanted a glass of champagne to celebrate, but it was over $15 per glass, I was then offered Proceco or Cava as a second less pricey option - neither of which will suffice. I really wish they had a few more options. Bloody Mary's all around too its place. Portions were a bit small in some corners. $6.95 for an egg cup sized scoop of Gelato - although freshly made onsite, seems a bit much. Overall the atmosphere and service was worth the trip, food was decent quality. We were able to chat up a couple next to us which added to the interest for a brunch meeting among friends! I would definitely try it again.

Great Food, hit or miss service. Easily the best food experience in Marblehead and I don't think I ever had a meal in there I didn't think was excellent. I wanted to reiterate some others comments about the service because if they fixed that it would be great. One example, my wife sent back a medium rare ordered hamburger because she thought it was borderline rare and the 25 year old waitress said, "maybe you shouldn't order it medium rare if you don't like it that way". Huh? Even if it was medium rare (which it wasn't) you say no problem I'll get that fixed. Customer is always right!!!

Utterly infuriating experience. The worst thing someone can ever experience after visiting a restaurant is to leave feeling like you've been taken for a ride. Throughout our entire meal, a trio of kids sat at a table nearby passing around a cigarette. The thing reeked, and was just really off putting. However, we kept our mouths shut, hoping a staff member would notice and ask them to put it away. When a busboy finally spotted them, we realized they were all friends of his. So, the main kid began pocketing the cigarette whenever someone would walk by, and retrieving it for a few draws (and a pass around the table) when the coast was clear. Absolutely infuriating. When we were about to say something, the busboy, of all people, came back to tip the kids off that they'd been caught-- then served them up a free dessert?? I hate sounding so up tight, but when you're visiting an establishment with a reputation for quality food (and for being on the pricier end of the spectrum), it's incredibly frustrating to have something like this happen repeatedly. Not only is it rude toward other patrons, the fact that none of the other staff was proactive about the issue highlights a real lack of respect towards the customers. I could understand if it was a full-house, but only a scattering of tables were occupied and everything was very casual for a Sunday Brunch. We ended up snapping a photo of the kids smoking, just in case we, or our friends, were ever tempted to return. If the owners of 5 Corners is reading this, feel free to ask for a copy! We'd love to share. As for the food, sadly that, too, was a miss. Practically everything was overcooked and unnecessarily heavy. I really wish we had just gone to Reds'.

Haven't done brunch yet, but as far as dinner goes- this is my favorite spot in Massachusetts yet. I've only been here for 3.5 years, but that still says something. This is always my first choice for a special occasion- just depends in whether we can afford it! Seriously... ANYTHING on the menu is ground breaking. I love finding a place like that- where you aren't tied to your favorite because there is still so much to explore (and you know it will be amazing)!

I've reviewed 5 Corners before and absolutely loved it. Im not sure what's been going on lately, but the service at the bar is bad. I noticed the turnover is high and am wondering if that is part of the problem. The person at the bar was new and I watched him take a patrons order incorrectly, and when the order came out, the customer said, "I didn't order this, I ordered the salmon, not pork." To which the bartender replied, "well, do you like pork? If you do, just give it a try, its good" The patron said, "well its not really what I want or what I ordered." The bartender replied, "I tell you what, give it a try and I'll buy you a beer." This went back and forth for a while and the patron got stuck with what he did not want. It was so unprofessional I could barely keep my mouth shut. Then the same bartender was telling patrons how he used to date the owners girlfriend and that's how he got the job. He also was putting down a restaurant and the staff at a previous job he had in Salem (which I will not name) to quite a few people sitting at the bar. To top it off, the bartender asked if we planned on ordering any more food, and when we said no, he printed the bill and put it in front of us. Since we were at the bar, we planned on ordering another drink, but it was clear that this bartender wanted us out of there so he could fill the seats with patrons ordering more food/drinks. His behavior was highly unprofessional and I really hope the owner sees this review and understands he has a problem on his hands. We used to go here a few times a month for the oysters, apps and beer, but now, since this person started, we don't go any more. I dont want to get stuck with him serving us.

Initially service at bar slow but picked up greatly. Oysters Wellfleet $1 until 6pm. Awesome!!! Tuna tarta delish!!!! Definitely will be back. Homemade sausages all different kinds not your usual Italian with fennel. Loved it. Will share with friends.

If you like good food and being treated like crap then this is the place for you... Too bad . From the bartender to the waitress it seemed like a coordinated effort to humiliate me and my date... If the food wasn't so good then I really wouldn't care. This wasn't the first time we were treated like this there but it will be the last !!! I do plan on spreading the word...

Frequent diner here. Always good. Prefer to sit at the bar for the relaxed atmosphere. Mike, the bartender is great and exactly what you would expect and want in a bartender. The owner/chef Barry has created a superb restaurant in a town that desperately needs one. I've never had a bad meal.

Updated review for re-opened 5CK... Five Corners is still a 5 star lock for ambiance, energy, friendly staff and very excellent food. Since re-opening in July, 5 Corners Kitchen has been buzzing. After a half dozen meals at the reopened restaurant I can emphatically recommend 5CK as a serious North Shore eatery that stands on par with the best restaurants anywhere. On a recent visit I strayed into the cocktail menu and was so very pleasantly surprised by the gin, thyme and lemon cocktail. So good. I'm working my way around the menu with an occasional surprising detour for a special (beef tongue like the best corned beef you've ever tried). The salads are straightforward but surprisingly good. The steak frites is done perfectly with a mystery jus, just right fries, a magic aioli, and some greens that just all go perfectly together. Next time I visit I'll have to force myself not to order the steak-frites for a third time in a row so I can try some of the other 5ck staples like the well reviewed roast chicken. I can attest to the fresh oysters, garlic sausage, mussels, and pastas as all being exceptional. The mussels are a real value with a solid app sized portion with loads of flavor. You'll need extra toast to sop up that wonderful broth. Can't get a table reservation? Pop in a little on the early side and grab a seat at the bar or one of the many tables in the lounge area where the full menu is available. The new expanded space has clean lines, lots of windows, and a cool skylight over the lounge.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here with the wife last wednesday. We had the escargot for an app, I had the steak frites and she had salmon. It was delicious. A nice bottle of St. Emilion and it was a very enjoyable bday dinner. The escargot were garlicky but not too overpowering. Grilled bread lightly brushed with olive oil was perfect for dipping. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, with just a touch of sauce, and the fries were crispy and delicately salted. The salmon had a wonderful crispness on the outside, but the meat was tender and juicy with an almost creamy texture. The chick pea salad was cold and provided a superb contrast to the warmth of the salmon. This was our second meal here since they've reopened, and they haven't lost a thing! So happy they are back!

I love this place. I really do. It is a beautiful space with a lovely bar and a really nice staff. I have been there three times since the reopening and every time I have had a good dinner. The only thing that has kept it from being a great dinner is the fact that all of my main courses (and those of my dining companion) have been too salty. Between the two of us, we have had 6 different entrees and all but one have been overly salty. The food is too good to need that much salt. Salads have been fantastic! So, my hope is that they will lighten up on the salt because I love going here!

Ate here for the first time last night and it will not be the last. The mussels were great but the liquor at the bottom of the bowl was spectacular and much tasty bread was required to mop it up. Had the Squid ink pasta and thought I had died and gone to heaven. Used more bread to mop up yet another great sauce then seriously contemplated licking the bowl but restrained myself. The only down side was the overly attentive staff which is not usually a problem but they kept interrupting our conversation and trying to take our not quite empty plates. I wish they were open for lunch.

Second time to 5Corners and this meal was just as delicious as my first. I came in planning to have the skate, but then I saw Cape Cod shark on the menu, BUT the special was Blue Fish - I was in fish heaven! Had to go with the blue fish, and it was wonderful!! Perfect balance of summer flavors. The service is great - professional but friendly. Only thing is the noise as others have mentioned - it's hard to keep up a conversation in the middle of the dinner rush. Best addition to Marblehead in years - I'm a believer!

Had a very nice meal there tonight. Very good service for a new restaurant and the steak frites we had were a strong rival for the steak frites at Thos. Keller's Bouchon in Yountville, which I have always held as the standard. They were a little skimpy on the bread and it is VERY loud when it's full, but otherwise a great experience that I would highly recommend.

Fantastic homemade food (so don't go in when you're pressed for time) in a neighborhood and town known for having to drive miles to acquire same. Chef de cuisine Barry Edelman from Acquitaine seems to shine even brighter in this tight but cozy and not over-loud space, which has come a long way since its last tenant, a bakery that a friend told me she wouldn't even walk into. Wine list was a knockout, too. Usually I'm grasping at straws with a small restaurant wine card; 5 Corners' list was more an embarrassment of riches. And it was fun to debate with our server whether the graphic on the bottle of Merry Edwards sauvignon blanc that wowed our table was more Martha Graham or Sarah Bernhardt-inspired. The frites turned our reserved foursome into grasping animals pulling desperate handfuls out of the bowl. The tagliatelle with duck confit was really the best entree I've had anywhere in months, even after eating at Hundred Acres in New York recently. Also had a taste of a friend's skate wing, which was flat-out terrific. I would advise at least a week out on reservations; this place was slammed and apparently has been since Day One. Easy to see why. Great food and warm service just make a whole roomful of people very happy.

Very cozy restaurant with an excellent food (a little pricey) selection to suit everyone. The only one negative comment that I'd like to make is this place is not for someone who likes a quiet place when you can talk and eat without people at the table next to you listening to your conversation. The tables are very close together. Otherwise, very nice place. Strongly recommend!

Stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while in Salem for a wedding. The coffee was exceptional, the chicken liver pate was perfect. After eating, the chef checked in with us and we ended up discussing cured meats for the better part of an hour. He is a smoked meat uber dork and it really shows up in incredible quality of his charcuterie. I wish we had more time to eat more things on this menu. Thank you Chef Barry for one of the best brunches we've had in years.

I've been here many times and have consistently enjoyed the food but, at times, been very disappointed with the service. On the last couple visits, those service complaints seem to have been rectified. Assuming that continues to be the case, this remains one of the nicer restaurants on the North Shore and one of my favorites.

Came for brunch and was not disappointed. The eggs benedict was very good, as was the homemade bacon. However, the French Toast with blueberry compote was ridiculously good. And the special beignet bites were delicious. We ate them over the course of an entire weekend. Even days later when they were starting to stale they were still awesome.

Five Corners Kitchen was a delightful experience for two families - one with an infant in a car seat/stroller and one with a hungry toddler who has an excellent palate. Service was great - server was attentive but not obtrusive and very kid friendly. Our waiter had good suggestions and entertained us and our questions while we waited for our friends. Meals were delicious and very satisfying. They did not feel too heavy or greasy. The menu offered unique twists on traditional brunch. Our table had the crepes, quiche, arepas, french toast, biscuits and gravy, yogurt and beignets. Personally, the quiche for me, was one of the best I've had. Really good flavors and consistency. The only thing we wouldn't order again was the beignets. The expectation is that of New Orleans-like beignets which these were not. Perhaps call it something else or perhaps make them more fluffy-pastry like? Ambiance and decor were perfectly done with large sunny windows to boot. My last comment is an odd one. On our walk past this restaurant, the smell of garbage was slightly overwhelming. Not sure which establishment is to blame (there's another next door) but did not smell garbage near any other restaurant on our walks around town. Perhaps that's because it's on a corner? Don't know. Overall, I'd certainly come here again and would be excited about it!

Five Corners Kitchen in Marblehead: Another Meal of Wonders! Until I fell in love with Five Corners Kitchen, I didn't realize how much light and lighting play into my feeling of well being in a restaurant space. At 5CK, you enter a high ceiling airy light- filled white-walled space, where the 2-sided facade is floor to ceiling windows, and the floor, tables, and chairs are all dark brown. As dusk descends and the restaurant opens for dinner, votive candles glow in the windows and on all the tables. It is surely romantic, and, even when it is its busiest, there is an overriding sense of calm and quiet magic. Whether you are outside looking in, or inside looking out, the scene is that of a just-opened jewel box. It takes us about 30-40 minutes to drive there from Winchester, but we have had many wonderful dinners and brunches there the last few years. Monday night we had what may have been our most stellar meal there. When I jumped at the description of Handmade pasta with Duck confit and Carbonara, i wondered if it would be too overthetop rich, but chef/owner Barry Edelman created a dish of well balanced indulgence that I am daily mind-savoring. On the other end of the see-saw, My Love had "the best salmon he could imagine", a generous 6 ounce filet, roasted perfectly rare, in a piquant honey and red wine beurre rouge. Some divine house-made gelatos capped a perfect dinner. The 5CK website does not maintain a fully updated menu, so I hope you will run up soon to Marblehead to catch those two entrees before they change! What a great way to celebrate Spring!

Birthday dinner for three on a Sunday nite at 7:15. Plenty of street/local lot parking. Very nice ambiance, cool window views, great tables and unique lighting, easy to have a conversation. Oysters and soft shelled crab were great. Pork was overcooked, and pasta served with mussels had no broth and was dry as a bone (sent it back and they corrected this). Duck confit pasta with goose liver (whole, not pate) was nice. Lemon tart with blueberries was the highlight of the desert tray. Ambiance - 5 Wait staff - 3 Food - 2.5. (would have been 3.5 if pasta was served correctly the first time)

My favorite Restaurant in Marblehead. Everything on the menu is excellent. My favorites are the Scallops and the Boneless half Chicken. The service is Excellent headed by Restaurant Manager, JOSE. (He's the Best)! The Restaurant also offers a Saturday and Sunday Brunch which is excellent. The Appetizers and Deserts are wonderful. Highly recommended.

Another great night at 5CK. Great food, atmosphere and service. I have a list of favorites over the years and now adding gnocchi with rabbit to the list. Everything about this dish was amazing... The gnocchi were seared ( always a plus) and very light, the rabbit was perfectly cooked, the vegetables were delicious. The dish was topped with what was probably house made ricotta that just rounded out the dish. I may have to go back for that one again before they update the menu. ;-)

The tuna tartar is phenomenal. I mean hands down it is the reason to visit this place. Everything on the plate is paired so well- the avocado mouse, crisps and salad.... A nice combination of flavors and textures. I was really disappointed to learn that the woman next to me got the last piece of salmon so I substituted the bass and I shouldn't have. It just didn't pair well with the things on the plate. I didn't care for the chickpea cucumber salad that the fish came on -it was very bland. I did however, enjoy a few bites of the other dishes my family had ordered. The chicken was surprisingly tender and flavorful and my uncle enjoyed his steak. The pistachio gelato had a very nice flavor with a slight hint of almond. Beautiful atmosphere. Perfect place for a date.

So, I'll preface this by first saying that judging this restaurant within Marblehead itself, I'd give this like 10 stars since there's not a whole lot else to choose from here. But, in comparison to other restaurants in the real world, this gets a solid 4. Food is consistently good. Good wine list. Great people watching. It truly feels like a night out. Again, hard to do in Marblehead. It can, however, work on evolving its menu - there are only so many times one can eat the same skate wing dish over the last 4 years. I also have to say that the service has gone downhill - the last couple times we went, the time in between courses was ridiculously long (like, an hour long). But, again, overall a good place.

    (4)
  • Stephanie A.

Wow. The food here is amazing. The only reason it doesn't get 4 stars is that it's a little pretentious. I love eating out in Boston and surrounding areas, but my boyfriend and I didn't feel like we belonged here, and I live in Swampscott! But food and staff were great.

It shocks me that the most common thing throughout the reviews is the poor quality of the service and yet it seems to continue being unaddressed. We also were less than impressed with the service and felt dismissed, unimportant, and almost an annoyance even though it was a Tuesday night and not nearly crowded enough to be considered busy. The food was good. We got the cheese and meat plate to start. It was OK. Not worth how much they charge though the meats were tasty. My husband got the homemade pasta with smoked beef tongue and I got the scallops. Both were tasty though redundant with their flavoring which got boring after a while. Again, tasty but not really worth the price. Dessert was also OK. We got the lemon tart to split and portion size was good but it tasted more like a store bought lemon pie. Their wine by the glass Bordeaux was actually quite good and worth the 9$ pour but really they should have more options in that price range. Atmosphere OK, really cool lighting but tables way too close together. Overall, good place but probably won't return or encourage friends to go.

I recently visited here with a coworker from getting a recommendation from a patient because the oysters were only a dollar from 5 to 6 PM. When we arrived we were seated in a quiet and pleasant area the lighting was perfect and the service was very attentive. We each got more than enough oysters to eat for year. Wine was delicious with the sweet and delicious aroma. A lot of choices for anyone's pallet for fine dining. A little on the expensive side but totally worth it once in a blue moon. Highly recommend this place for the atmosphere it's staff and delicious fresh food. I will be visiting here sooner than later.

I have been going to 5CK since the opening and always have had a great meal and overall experience.....until this evening. Our only problem with this evening, and it was a big one, was the rude bartender. Unfortunately our biggest mistake was sitting down at the bar for cocktails and than ordering food. The female bartender could not be bothered to stop whatever she was doing (slicing lemons or limes) and take our cocktail orders. If that was not rude enough, our order was wrong. Our next mistake was staying at the bar. We were with another friend of ours who wanted to stay for dinner so we ordered our meals from the unfriendly and too busy too look up bartender yet again. She was cranky and so unfriendly. Just to be clear, it was not Sarah, who is lovely, but the other female bartender, with stick straight hair. This bartender needs to go, or you will lose a bunch of regulars!!!

This restaurant is the best dining experience on the North Shore of Boston. We just returned from our at least weekly dinner at the bar. The food is excellent and all the bartenders we have meet have been very professional and courteous. The steak frites, salmon, sole , scallops, chicken and pasta entrees are all top quality, as are all the apps. We have tried pretty much everything on the menu and it is hard to find fault with anything. The staff, from when you walk in till you leave, are well trained and top notch. Anyone looking for a restaurant the quality of a top Boston restaurant can stay in Marblehead for the same quality and service.

I want to love 5 Corners more than we do. The atmosphere is A+. The service is OK, but not as attentive as it should be considering it is on the higher end of a restaurant, w/prices that reflect. Slow out of the starting gate, and you have to flag staff down for water refills - that's weak. The location perfect. Although the menu just has items we just don't eat - grade fish (ie: Skate) - cooked fabulously if you're willing to eat it. A steak we find chewy and mediocre. Chicken Livers? Really? We'd love to see a Swordfish, a Halibut, Filet Mignon, more creative and changing salads and apps. Moreover, the menu rarely changes. Since it's inception the bulk of the items have not changed. Pretty boring. We instead head to "G" in Swampscott - WOW, Blue Ox in Lynn, The Market Restaurant in Annisquam, Cygnet in Beverly Farms, Passport in Gloucester. For the $$$ we always walk out much happier w/our night out. Their brunch - MOST excellent!

In this little town with mostly ok paces to choose we found this wonderful and delightful place to go. For us its about the service, the food and ambiance. It starts with the front desk staff and how the greet you and extends all the way to everyone involved in the service process. We opted to skip our table reservation and sit at the bar. A beautiful bar with seating that gave us a great view of the restaurant and windows looking out. We love sitting at the bar as we like to sit together ( we never get why tables for two have to be across from each other), and we alway wonder will the bartender be friendly and focused on "us" as they always have conflicts with bar tasks too. Well we could not have been more pleased with the bartender. Super friendly, efficient and well versed in the menu options. We had such a good time with him. Very impressed with how the food is brought out and served by wait staff who took the time to explain further the menu items presented. In my case it was an oyster selection and for the folks next to us it was the cheese selections. So well done! We were lucky to be between to couples, locals, who knew the bartender by name and who were very friendly to us ( nice to meet you John H!). The food was wonderful including a home-made cavatelli - wow. This treasure is only 17 miles out of Boston, but no direct highways to get there, so what! - find a way to check this place out!!

I'd give it less if I could...to pay 15 for a brunch entree that was incorrectly cooked and arrived a good 10 mins after my dads crappy overcooked omelette.....really...we would have done better with a picnic in the park.....never again...ever...and my dad who has lived there forever and used to be a regular......never so sucked...save your money for way better service as well...

I have been for dinner and brunch, and I love the completely different vibes. 5CK is a beautiful space. The menu is fab. I think with some more experienced staff, this place would totally rock. Today for brunch at around 1:30p, for example, I'm not sure I saw a single employee over the age of 20, except perhaps in the kitchen. It showed in the indifference my sweet but very young bartender showed for my tea request (English Breakfast and Earl Grey are indeed very different) and when it was presented in a tiny tea cup (a tiny amount of tea served with loose tea in a tea bag) with no offer of milk or sugar, much less honey, for $3.25. As an aside, I really don't care about the price, or I wouldn't go to the places I do, but I do notice quality gaps. He removed it without asking if I wanted more hot water. I never got my fruit request (and luckily it didn't show up on the bill, either). His fresh squeezed oj couldn't have been more than 1/2 cup of juice served in a wine glass, while my grapefruit juice was a full pour in a rocks glass. The door to the bar really needs to be blocked in the winter, as it creates a wicked cold draft when it opens, while the main door has a velvet curtain blocking the cold air. My salmon was ok, but skimpy on the accoutrements, and so it felt kind of heavy. The boy liked his regular old eggs just fine, and his coffee was served in a nice big mug. The bartender suggested a sticky toffee thing for dessert, which was sweet but heavy and I wish I had stuck with fresh fruit. So.. it's good but it sure could be better. It wants to be a fancy little bistro in old guard Marblehead, but it still needs a bit more polish.

Been a few times now and it keeps getting better (if possible). I'm determined to try everything on the menu (not a long one) to see if there is anything the chef makes that I don't Love! Everything from Hostess to Wait Staff to Bartenders have been nothing but excellent. It's not a stuffy pretentious place where some tables are seat yourself and some are for reservations. Offers a very relaxed, excellent dining experience.

I am a regular at 5 corners for dinner. I have always enjoyed the staff and their attentiveness. However today I went for brunch with an old friend. Absolutely a horrible experience. Bartender was probably the rudest I have ever experienced. We were there for late lunch on a Saturday and she completely ignored us. The couple across from us asked the status of their meal and she belted out "what you think I not place order?" The couple were horrified. Given the fact we sat there for 15 minutes without contact and seeing the experience of the other couple we walked out. As a loyal customer I am now having reservations for about ever coming back! We had a fantastic and romantic meal here on a Monday night. The appetizer of Chicken Liver Mousse was very good as was the mixed lettuce with goat cheese (warm chevre on the menu). We thought about trying the Tuna Tartare but skipped it because it was diced, not sliced - it also doesn't have wasabi. We've found in the past that restaurant tuna that is served sliced has been of superior quality than diced ones. Both of our entrees were excellent! We had the Zucca Bolognese (description is on their online menu) and a venison special that night. We were too full to eat desserts and brought some food home. We liked the wine choices. One pricing note on the wine pricing by the glass: the better Chardonnay had a seemingly small serving for $15/glass. The same vintage is currently available for $17 for the entire 750 ml bottle at a wine store I frequent off Rt. 128. Our waiter was excellent for service. Parking is on the street; since there are other restaurants in the immediate vicinity, Saturday night can be a bit of a problem if one is handicapped and has to walk a ways in the winter.

Stopped in last night for a quick drink and ended up staying for a few rounds and apps. Great space, casual dining with a simple elegance. Could not decide between the Tuna Tatar and the Muscles. The friendly couple next to us recommended the muscles as their cheese plate arrived. My friend had the escargot. Everything looked incredible and tasted perfect. The Chef/Owner stopped by and discussed the smoked meats that he creates in-house. Cant wait to go back and try more. The service at the bar was perfect and both bartenders were attentive providing delicious Manhattans.

5 Corners is back, and I couldn't be happier!! The new space is absolutely beautiful. We stopped in for their first brunch this morning and I was so happy to see my favorites- the asparagus, porcini and boursin omelette and the unreal blueberry brioche french toast- still on the menu. I've been dreaming about this french toast for the past 2 years or so that they've been closed! The coffee is fantastic, and service is great. We can't wait to get this place back into our regular restaurant rotation!

still overated. I've heard Turtle Cove, a new place where Hungry Betty's used to be, is better. 62 in Salem is better also. Save your dough, as this place will set you back. not that I wouldn't pay up for high end meal, just not worth the buck here.

Best dining experience I've had in quite some time, and I live in NYC. The atmosphere is elegant and upscale; the wait staff is kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I ordered the Grilled Pizzetta, specifying that they go light on the cheese and not drizzle extra oil on top because that's gross and I'm calorie-conscious. They indulged my request and brought me a remarkably flavorful, unique pizza-like dish. The balsamic and the wild mushrooms tasted so smokey and rich, and the greens added just the right dose of bitterness to compliment everything else. I am normally not one to fantasize about food, but my God. This. I also asked for a side of steamed vegetables. They brought me an artful and delicious plate of Brussels sprouts and haricot verts. Two people dining with me ordered the pork shank and loved it; the fourth person really enjoyed the scallops. Beautiful bathrooms, too. You can always judge a restaurant by the quality of their bathrooms. Therefore, to conclude and adjourn, you should go here if you are in the area. Go at night when all of the candles are lit.

Great spot! 5 Corners Kitchen is one of the top restaraunts in the North Shore, the best IMO. Classic french food, always consistent. Impressive Menu. Warning this is not your average neighborhood restaraunt!! LOL And if people say its too expensive they're probably too cheap to pay the toll into Boston, and wouldnt know that quality food like this is much more in the city. I will be back to 5CK soon!!!

Not sure what the big deal is with this place, other than its' nice, open layout . Beet salad is delicious, but pepper appetizers only marginal (how about some spicy oil instead of quasi-mayo for sauce?) as was steak. For the price, they could - and should - offer much better quality food. And what's up with all male, older waiters?

Excellent wine selection- electric menu that suites all tastes. Had the pork chop - excellent! Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding and gelato - all made in house.

Read the reviews and had heard mostly good things so I made a reservation and here we go! Got there about 5 minutes before my reservation and they were able to seat me right away! That hasn't happened to me in a long time so needless to say I started to get pretty jazzed up from the get-go. The server came over shortly after we sat and was very pleasant; menu is small (and online) so it didn't take us long to decide what we wanted. Appetizers came pretty quickly, were really quite delicious and the little things are what make it a little bit better here. For example: On the Mediterranean Calamari the pickled peppers are house made - really it's a fancy name for Rhode Island style but those in house pickled pepper really do take something simple like that to the next level. Tuna Tartar was top notch but not necessarily blow your socks off good.....anyway right here is where we run into a problem....all service was prompt up to this point but from when we got our appetizers to the time we got our entrees it was a solid 40+ minute wait. Ideally a server or a manager would have checked in with us to let us know what was going on - I was in the business for years and would have understood if the kitchen had issues or a ticket was lost or the server (who avoided us for those 40 minutes) forgot to fire our entrees but alas....no communication to the paying consumer....(insert disappointment here). The dinners finally came and they were good for sure; but not necessarily impressive in any way. The place is cramped, a little loud, and the clientele was interesting for sure (I'll let you go there and see for yourself)!! Overall the food was good but the service and atmosphere were a bit of a miss. I'm a bit torn on this place as I felt that with the reviews and at the price point; it would have been a bit better.....

If you have a food allergy - 2 words Don't go Went for brunch yesterday looking forward to a really good brunch. It started with the hostess. "We have seats only at the bar and it is such a fun experience." We are looking for a nice relaxing brunch. If we want a fun experience we would go to a fun place. I noted to the server that I am gluten free and she just looked at me in a curious way. I ordered and again said I am gluten free. I asked if they have gf bread and she states no but we do have wheat muffins and brioche bread. Our brunch came and it was just ok. My husbands wheat muffin tasted like a burger since it was grilled on the same grill as the burgers. Twenty minutes later I had a gf attack. Something in the eggs??? Needless to say underwhelmed and not going back.

I chose this restaurant to have an anniversary dinner with my husband because it was last minute, close by, and it had a cheese plate on the appetizer menu (which my husband likes). That it was a French restaurant was only a bonus. It was intimate, the service was excellent, and we both enjoyed our dinner immensely. I can't recall what we ordered because I waited too long to post this review, but I would definitely recommend stopping in if you are in the market for a romantic night and don't mind spending a little money.

I'm sad to have to give this so-so review to 5 corners Kitchen, but our last visit wasn't great. We are long time patrons of this restaurant, and have seen the quality go down over the years. We had reservations at 6pm but we were seated in the bar area? Normally we don't mind sitting in the bar area, except there was a large, very loud (drunk) group of people at the bar. The restaurant was pretty much empty, so would have been nice of the hostess to seat us in the dining area. The waitress we had was very aloof and much more concerned with socializing with her bar tables. She barely came to our table, we had to flag her down to get anything. But the bus boy was very helpful and pleasant. Our apps and my husband's meal were very good but my bolognese was very salty and not great, which was surprising since I've had it in the past and it has been delicious. We left the restaurant feeling very disappointed, as this was our go to restaurant for date nights, sad.

This is a response to "Daniel M's" review of the other day. First off learn to spell. Get a life, grow up. Do something constructive and valuable with your lives. Be more anonymous. Be kind. Be generous. This is an amazing restaurant. We are all delighted to have such an establishment in our tiny town! With affection, Ken and his proudly garish wife, Amy.

As a local, it's really the only place around that's both upscale and delivers on the food. I've been countless times both before and after the fire, and the most recent visit about 2 weeks ago was actually the best. Not sure if divorce suits chef Barry or what, but the food was absolutely on point, as was the service. I have no complaints. We enjoyed the gougeres and steak tartare as starters which were both flavorful, well-seasoned and fresh - tartare was nicely chilled while the gougeres were piping hot! I'm a stickler for appropriate temperature, thus the mention ;) Our tablemates shared a salad of some kind. I didn't get a taste, but they were pleased. For entrees we had the duck, the pork chop and 2 orders of steak frites. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. Nothing mind blowing, but lovely solid bistro fare that I expect from 5CK, but sometimes found lacking. I'm happy to report that those earlier "misses" were pleasantly absent this time around. The honey lavender gelato makes me swoon...which is exactly how a date night should end, no?

Decor and atmosphere were very nice, but the food was more than disappointing. We had to return the shrimp cocktail appetizer and the main courses were just ok. Based on the many good reviews, I would have expected better. Can only speak for the brunch menu. The regular menu might be much better.

Five Corners kitchen is back! Prior to the tragic fire that closed our beloved 5CK this popular Marblehead eatery was our favorite spot. We have been anticipating it reopening for some time now. The wait is over and the newly renovated Five Corners has not skipped a beat. Tonight was opening night and it felt as though they had never closed. There was zero first night awkwardness and the food and service were off the charts! I don't know how Chef Barry does it but somehow he manages to maintain the highest standards of quality while creating a contemporary stylish mojo that makes you never want to leave. Oysters, beet salad, escargot, chicken liver mousse, skate wing, striped bass and more. Our party of four laughed, ate, drank and at one point we all looked at each other and said "who needs Boston?" Welcome back 5CK!!!! You were worth the wait!

We were back at 5 Corners Kitchen tonight. For starters we had the red beet salad and super-fresh oysters. As a main course we enjoyed the dogfish and a side of pommes frittes, and for dessert we had the mousse au chocolat and an espresso. Everything was absolutely lovely and deliciously prepared. Love that place!

Visiting from Las Vegas and came to 5 Corners with friends. It was wonderful. I had the Tuna tartar and the slaw with it was to die for. The pork chop my friend ordered was delish! Service as great and not too hovering. All in all excellent! Oh my sons ages 12 and 16 were with us and they found something to their liking. They are, however, very adventuresome eaters...

Sublime experience tonight. Try the "autumn harvest" cocktail, its delicious . Try the beef tongue tartine, also incredible! I also had oysters, they are a buck apiece until 7, and they were probably the best i have ever had. For a main, i had the duck breast and it was the best I've ever had.

5 Corners has been on our "must try" list since moving to Marblehead this past August. This Friday, we finally made it happen! This is a bustling restaurant - and in hindsight, we probably should have made reservations, but conveniently, there was a table on the bar side of the restaurant that was free so we were seated right away. The restaurant is beautiful - I can't say enough about the gorgeous light fixtures...the one made of Mason jars hanging above our table was one of my favorites. On the far back wall, there is a large mirror and around that, they are slowly building a frame of wine corks ... one cork at a time! Very cool. After sitting down and perusing the small, French-infused menu - we decided to go with the cheese plate to start and I ordered the steak frites and he ordered the pork chop. I'm not a duck fan and probably about 51% of the menu featured duck of some kind. It limited my choices, but I still found something I liked. The cheese plate: aside from the runner who dropped it off (different from our actual server) forgetting to tell us what the cheeses were...we dug right in and weren't disappointed. The bread was toasted with a garlic herb butter (I could have eaten it alone). There was a bit of camembrie (mix of Camembert and Brie). Very creamy and rich. We also had a bleu goat cheese. I'm not a huge fan of bleu cheese and I have never even heard of bleu goat cheese...but I tried it. Texture-wise, it was goat cheese but it had that sharp, smoky (read: dirty sock) flavor of bleu. There was a third cheese that I promptly forgot the name of but it was my favorite and I wish I could remember! Next up: my steak frites. They came out perfectly cooked with a side of some sort of garlic aoili I believe (they didn't even need it as the seasoning was perfect). The fries were delish and the side salad on the plate (mesculine greens and tiny red onions) was perfectly dressed and a nice palate cleanser. My SO was less impressed by the pork chop. It was a very tender, thick cut pork chop, but the inside was pinker than what he's comfortable (or rather, accustomed) to eating. He kept stealing my steak frites! Finally, for dessert - we decided on the creme brulee (my favorite). It came out with that beautiful sugar shell and we thought it would be perfect, but alas, the sugar tasted burnt. There is a fine line when it comes to creme brulee. It's a dessert that seems deceivingly easy to make, but too light a hand, the sugar shell isn't thick enough and too heavy a hand...you can easily burn the sugar. In an effort to give some feedback, I told our waiter about it. I praised the pudding itself because it was divine, but I told him we ate around the sugar shell because it was burnt. He immediately took it off our bill and I apologized saying that wasn't my intent nor was it necessary! The waiter was wonderful and said that while he understands it wasn't our intent to get a free dessert, he appreciated the feedback and would take it off regardless. We gave him his 20% tip plus an extra $10 to cover the dessert anyway. He deserved it! I am eager to come back and see what else we can experiment with. I saw some amazing crocks of Onion Soup with a heavy dose of Gruyere cheese that I am dying to try on my next visit!

Still great after several visits, always impresses the visiting relatives. The deserts are new to me and were SO good! Salmon is my favorite entree... I like the salads as well... mine, seemed a little bit busy last night, way too much variety. Also, the service did seem to be pushing us along and there were no other parties waiting and we were not moving. I can not wait to try the Jazz Brunch.

  • ME G.

The food was, indeed, really good. The salads were fresh, the mains were nice, the desert was too much. All was technically well done and I enjoyed it, even the stuff I threw up. Our waitress, Mary, was very directive, to the point of not asking but taking a 25% tip on a gift card, and while I did not enjoy her favorite dish very much, I am sure she likes it. boy, it could be great, but that night, it was not so great. sometimes you are in a bad mood, and sometimes different people need direction but don't want to take it. And, if I can't keep it down, maybe its me, or maybe this place and elephant walk have some oil I'm allergic to, or something. But, that's the way I would call it. The other people in my party would go back, but did not erp, did not pay, and did not have the recommended dish.

Contrary to the past review, I applaud 5 corners kitchen for their (re)opening.... I too was there the night the restaurant opened to the public and I was happy to see/ hear the staff was tasting the food right before opening. What better way to be able to understand the menu and to convey ingredients and favorite dishes to guests!? My service was Great! Our server was personal and enthusiastic. The food blew me away. I got the beet salad and skate Wing while My friend enjoyed escargot followed by the tender pork chop with a smokey red sauce. The wine selection was out of this world. Where else can you get an amazing underpriced cotes du rhone!? I will be back for sure. Welcome back 5ck!

My wife and I love food and fine dining, so for her birthday we ended up going to 5CK on the recommendation of this site and several friends. All I have to say is that we have found our new favorite restaurant. I have eaten great meals in my life at phenomenal establishments around the world, and I am not exaggerating when I say that the food at 5CK can hang with some of the best of them. I ordered the skate and my wife the sole/lobster curry and the execution of both dishes were perfection, in fact I don't believe I have had a better fish dish in New England than the skate wing, which is really saying something. And to top it off, I feel the portions were more than fair. It is very rare that I end up feeling full (not just satisfied, but truly full) at a fine dining establishment, but I literally struggled to finish my meal after splitting a cheese plate to start. Furthermore, our server was fantastic. She had great insight in wine pairings, had a good sense of when to be attentive and when to not come calling (which I feel is a rarity these days), and really helped cater to my wife who has a gluten allergy by suggesting alternate dish parings that she could have. All in all, we had a five star experience here and we will definitely be back. I know there are a lot of great dining choices at this price point in the North shore, but 5CK has just moved to the top of our list.

I went over to Marblehead on Saturday night and tried out the new 5 Corners Kitchen, where Ladycakes used to be. Couldn't get a reservation so went early and ate at the bar, which was packed by 6:30. I have to say, it really was a fantastic meal. The basic premise is really high quality local food, prepared fairly simply, but to very high standards. Menu is expected to change as much as weekly, owing to trying to buy fresh and local food. Gotta get what's good. That's exactly what they delivered. I started with a mussels appetizer, sauteed in tomatoes, onions and garlic aioli. Served with grilled baguette with a garlic butter spread. Simply divine. Followed that with steak frites with hand cut fries with a garlic aioli dipping sauce, and watercress salad. Nicely grilled to a medium rare as ordered, totally satisfying. Tried one of my companions' oysters, and they were very good and fresh, and her skate, which is supposed to be a throw away fish, was beautifully prepared and tasty as well. Menu is diverse, going as simple as bacon cheeseburger and fries. The only weird thing was there only being one dessert option on a given day. Saturday it was a rhubarb panna cotta, which we passed on as we were stuffed. I think that decision is based on the small kitchen. Washed it all down with 3 Hennepin draft beers. Never had it before, nice wheat beer. Wine list was small but well thought out. Space is beautiful and clean. Lots of white, and big huge windows open to the street. Very classic. From my perch at the bar had a nice view directly into the kitchen. Easily the best meal I've had in Marblehead, and all of the entrees were under $20. They didn't taste like it.

So. Good. I don't usually notice the decor, but it struck me as intimate and romantic. The steak frites was cooked so perfectly. And my boyfriend got the special which was delicious too. It's hard to be blown away by steak and fries but they were so tasty. Oh and the lemon tart was a perfect way to end the meal. We were practically licking crumbs off the plate

"expertly prepared and exquisitely delivered"...5 Corners is as good as it gets! The atmosphere sets the tone with the wine glass chandeliers, cozy booths, and quaint bar...it is the perfect place for date night or dinner with friends. Oysters with champagne-vinegar mignonette and Cranberry Beret Cocktail as a start to the meal, Steak Frites and the Skate Wing for entrees, and Creme Brulee to sweetly end it all. I can easily see myself as a regular here, and look forward to going back to try the Brunch. Bon Apetit!

My boyfriend and I went here on a whim Sunday, June 9th. We had just got back to the States from vacation late the night before, and were starving when we woke on Sunday from not having eaten during our day of travel. As we were going to Marblehead for rehearsal anyway, we decided to try to grab bunch at 5Ck. I am so glad we did. The restaurant itself is very modern, has the slightest marine hint in the decor, and it very well presented in general. As we've never been before and didn't know the place was so cute, we were not dressed up by any means (to my chagrin), but the hostess did not give a hint of disdain or surprise as some tend to. She was very pleasant! When we informed her that we didn't have reservations, she did a quick scan of the tables, grabbed 2 menus, and sat us promptly anyway. Our server came over fairly expediently and took our drink order. She gave us enough time to decide on food and then took our orders. The food took a little longer than I'd expect a brunch item to take, but it was well worth it. I ordered the Croquet Madame and my boyfriend got the Salmon omelette. Everything was so delicious! I was very impressed and pleased with the consistency and flavor of the omelette and how well the salmon was prepared. My dish was incredibly tasty and perfectly prepared in my opinion - well-done egg white but a nice runny yolk. Our server checked in to make sure all was well, but not every 5 seconds as in some establishments. A server regularly refilled our water glasses. When we were finished, we were able to get our server's attention to grab the bill, as we had to rush over to rehearsal, and she was very polite and prompt in taking the request, bringing the check, and cashing us out. We appreciated that very much. Will absolutely be returning for brunch and will have to try dinner soon! Definitely recommend.

Much anticipated the re-opening of 5CK they have done a lovely new build out but the food and service unfortunately do not match. We sat at the bar early on a Sunday evening so it was not busy and I have to say the bartenders were inattentive, thank goodness for the barback Tim who was very social payed attention and worked while the bartender Sara basically appeared bored. That said Chef has comprised a menu of inexpensive food items well worded with complex accompaniments but much to our chagrin we all agreed we were in high hopes of a more upscale better quality seasonal menu or alas boredom will set in promptly After all we are in Marblehead so Halibut or Haddock not "Dogfish" Sirloin Steak or another fine cut of beef what the heck is Bavette with awesome frites??? Anyway a little disappointed but will try again at some point

I have been to 5 CK with just about anyone I can find to go with me. I have recommended it highly to all. Barry and staff do a wonderful job and I am so disappointed that it has been closed all summer due to smoke damage resulting from a fire next door. Highly anticipate its return. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is all on me. Service is amazing. Food is always delicious. However, I think the price points on some food and drinks is a bit high. Overpriced? Probably not by much. Regardless, I still recommend it and will go back as soon as it reopens. It was sorely missed this summer.

Just got home from the (re)opening party and consider this fair warning... you all better make your reservations now. Folk'll be coming from far and wide and they'll be thrilled they did. The redesign (post fire gut and expansion) is hip without making the diners feel like cougars. Translation: The space is fresh as linen with a just enough of a metro nod to offer a funky vibe that easily spans a few decades of diner's sensibilities. Cleverly placed design elements/conversation pieces are so effective that folks really do talk about them! The interior is spacious without feeling cavernous and offers an acoustic balance that makes the room fun without overloading the eardrums. One can readily envision many happy evenings in comfort and gastronomic joy. Right, 'cuz then there's the food. Really, there's nothing but raves here for chef/owner Barry Edelman. I've never tasted anything he has put out that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. And tonight was no different. If the party items are on the menu I'm gonna be first in line for dinner this week. The lamb lollipops (larger than lollipops actually) were lemony and lovely, the oysters insanely fresh and chilled to perfection and the escargot - seriously??? Perfectly supple with just the right amount of garlic & butter to make the darn things sing. Huge congrats to Barry and Emily - and just in case YOU didn't take me seriously at the opening of this review - suggest you do now... grab a reservation asap and really, truly enjoy!

Favorite bar in town! Ambience and cocktails are superb. It's nice to have a little swank in Marblehead. I have never sat down at a table for a meal but I plan to soon.

Marblehead is a better town with the arrival of 5 Corners Kitchen. Been there 5 or 6 times with my wife. The menu is thoughtful and different. The food is great. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but a bit noisy and the tables are somewhat tight. The service is attentive and not intrusive. Steak frites & Skate are are terrific, signature dishes. I like the chicken preparation as well. Good salads. Wine is decanted and served in carafes (at three pricing points). There is something for everyone. But, I'm selfish - don't go. I don't want to compete with a crowd

Went tonight for the first time, and very much enjoyed it. The decor is gorgeous (note upside down bottle chandeliers!), the server was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional, and the food was excellent. I had the beet salad and the chicken and both were delicious. The people I was with also approved. Definitely one to try!

Beautiful inside with well stocked bar. They fixed the ungodly noise so people can actually hear your table buddies talk. I enjoyed the steak frites and watercress while my other partner had the chicken. They were outstanding. A Boston restaurant in Marblehead without the exorbitant prices. Wines are tops too. Highly recommended.

Can't believe this was voted best of north shore for brunch. Very limited menu, very inconsistent service. You could do much better.

Been here twice for dinner and have not been disappointed. The duck liver pate is out of sight. Nice wine list and a great upbeat atmosphere. Would like to see a TV in the bar but I understand why there isn't one. Will definitely be going back.

Nice and lively all around. Food, music, decor, service. Wife said the Skate had too much butter. But really, can anything ever have too much butter? Matre'd turned me on to two awesome Pandora stations. Best Zagat rated in town (27 Food). Steak Tartar; yummy.

We've eaten here 4 times. Two for dinner, two Brunches. Each time the food is really good. The pastas far surpass any other dishes we've eaten. The prices are a bit high but the service is great. We enjoy the brunch almost more than the regular menu. We tend to go here for late night dinners alone, or Brunch with friends/family. I had a Cucumber Martini which was delicious! We haven't been during a busy time so we always get to choose our table. They are close together, so maybe avoid the rush. My favorite part is that they're open till 11pm during the week. All in all, we enjoy going here for a special treat once in a while.

The food and atmosphere were perfect! I hate going to a place and not being able to have a conversation. Even though the space was small, we could hear each other and talk normally. Even when they started to play music, it was not obnoxious to the point that people try to talk over the music thus making it unbearably loud. It was a wonderful simply designed restaurant with a short wall that separated the dining room from the bar. We ordered the mussels and they were yummy. I got the special of the night which was duck. Oh my gosh, my mom makes a wonderful duck, but this duck might almost rival hers! I tried my friend's steak frites and it was also perfect. They were both made to perfection. The steak was a perfect medium-rare (which is how the restaurant makes it) while the duck had a nice crispy skin. I do not know why I did not get dessert. The creme brulee was huge and the carmalized top was crunchy! I felt bad having several bites of my friend's dessert. I am not sure about the service that other people had, but our waitress was excellent. She knew what to suggest and could answer questions about the wine list (which was pretty big). Our dinner took 2.5 hours from start to finish, but it was one of the most enjoyable hours I had eating and conversing with friends. We weren't rushed and did not over stuff ourselves because the food came out all at once. We had a nice pace to our whole meal. I hope to come back again!

Can I please give this place 10 stars? The fi and I came here for brunch and for once in our entire lives, ordered two entrees and even after clearing off our plates were talking about coming again for dinner. Throughout my life I have been searching for the perfect brioche french toast. I never knew that I was eating garbage until I experienced the mind blowing awesomeness of 5 corners french toast. Don't think twice - just order it. The fi ordered eggs benedict with mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes which was fantastic - the way it should be made. Service was great (our waitress Stephanie was fabulous) and the atmosphere was light, airy and trendy.

I ate at the bar with friends on Tuesday night. I had the sole in a curry sauce with veggies. It was divine. Perfectly spiced and very fresh tasting with the pea shoots, bok choy, and cauliflower. It was a very generous portion for an upscale restaurant. The glass of Riesling the friendly bartender suggested was perfectly complementary. This is the second time I've eaten here and will definitely be back. I need to try the burger it looked amazing.

Wow! Went there last night and my wife and I were lucky enough to dine at the bar with Mike, the Mon-Fri bartender. He was filling in for someone as this was a Sat night. First, Mike is about the best bartender you will ever encounter. THE BEST!! The food? Outstanding. My wife had the duck entrée and it was fantastic. We first shared a dozen $1 oysters which were great. I had the Bolognese entrée which I didn't care for the pasta, but the next time I will request a different pasta. The Bolognese sauce was a little different, but it was excellent. We will be back, soon.

Marblehead---not known for high end cuisine..... entertained clients tonight with oysters, skate and sonoma wine. 15 on a scale of 10. I do hope in this shitty economy that there are enough clients to support this restaurant, as it's not cheap. But we've spent more and gotten less. You know after a meal and drinks with friends you say, "That was nice." "Well, this was nice." Amanda the bartender is knowledgeable and attentive. Creme Brulet was also fine. Barry runs a good place. No disapapointments.

Hands down best dinner on the north shore!!! My wife and I had dinner here last night. It was start to finish amazing. We started at the bar with two glasses of a nice Cava rose brut while we waited for our table. The clean decor and light fixtures were accented by the subdued lighting. The atmosphere was lively with a packed dining area consisting of a dozen tables and a banquet running along the back wall. Our menus arrived on wooden clipboards along with a wine list and cocktails. Our server Stephanie was proficient with the various items on the menu and made some excellent wine suggestions! We started with the mussels and the country pork terrine. The mussels were sauted in white wine, fennel, garlic and, tomatoes. They came with a giant grilled slice of French country bread spread with a generous dollop of garlic aioli. The shellfish tasted briney and fresh fork tender. We slurped up every last drop. The pork terrine was rich and savory. Unlike most local terrines it was dense and air pocket free. The presentation was very clean with a spoonful of whole grain mustard and some pickled leeks. For dinner we had the skate wing and the steak frites. The skate wing was served Piccata style with pungent caper berries and a citrus type butter sauce. The fish itself was crispy and moist. Over all a great experience!!!

I am from NYC... so of course I am a bit of a food snob. That being said, I am always disappointed by the lackluster/expensive "gourmet" dining in Marblehead (besides fried seafood!). We heard good things about 5 Corners, so we gave it a go. Excellent beet salad and soft shelled crab for apps.... had one of the best pork chops ever and a Mediterranean dogfish dish that was very good as well. Ended things with a creme brulee that was served in what many would consider a casserole sized plate: HUGE. Very excited and happy to have this in town after years of BLAAAAH. All entrees were under $20

We never got to the food. The restaurant was stuffy and stale, actually smelt like a dirty wet mop had just cleaned the floor. Our waitress reeked of cigarette smoke and cheap perfume. No thanks.

Another dinner and two brunches later, I am giving 5CK 5 stars. The cooking here is sensational, as long as you avoid the seafood, which is good but not great. The steak frites is out of this world. Perfectly tender and flavorful steak (medium), with insanely delicious skinny but not yet shoestring fries, and a lovely side salad for an outstandingly balanced meal in one entree. Oh, and the ice tea is good too. For brunch, I had French toast on one occasion and an omelet on the other. The French toast is rather unusual: two thick slabs of bread with blueberry compote and whipped cream on top. I liked that it was not too egg-y. Very lovely. And the omelet (spinach, feta, mushroom) was so much better than it had to be. Also tried my guest's Benedict, and again it was outstanding. Loved 5CK's take on hollandaise sauce. I want to eat at 5CK everyday.

Best restaurant in Marblehead, already. This is the kind of place you'd find in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles... The food is excellent -- fresh, artfully plated, inventive, tasty. One thing that separates it is the mixed drinks. I ordered a Mojito -- and it was hand-made (fresh mint leaves, crushed ice, freshly squeezed lime juice). This is a drink that gets made this well at only a few places in Boston -- or anywhere. Impressive.

Can I get an Amen for finally having a decent restaurant in Marblehead? Amen! Fresh and mostly local food in a hip decor. Nice wine list. Barry does a great job. Four stars instead of five because the limited menu doesn't change much and the highly touted skate wing had the texture of skate gum. Must have been a tough skate. Regardless, I have been at least 10 times for dinner & for brunch & it's the best food in town. Barry, please re-open! I'm hungry!

Beautiful, ambient, cozy little restaurant and bar that serves really nice (albeit pricey) food and cocktails. The vibe is ever-so-slightly hipster (laser cut pendant lights, Smiths tunes, etc.), they do it so well that it doesn't come off as hipster foolishness (like Hungry Mother in Cambridge, for instance). The lighting and atmosphere are perfect. The first time my friend and I came in, it was a holiday afternoon and we were the only folks there. Our waitress (who we've have the pleasure of being served by both times we've been) could not have been more friendly and accommodating and made us feel so comfortable and at ease that it was easy to forget we were the only people there. We were given just enough privacy and just enough attention to never feel like we were being watched or ignored. We've been back since for cocktails (awesome), brunch (awesome), and dessert (awesome). This is truly a little neighborhood gem. One of the only places I make a point of visiting when I'm in the northshore area.

Hands down one of the best meals of my life and so decently priced - especially for the quality. Amazing flavor combinations and the new remodel has a simple elegance. I wish we lived closer to it to go more often.

The food was superb, the service OK but not special. But the prices, $130 for two who had only one main course each plus a bottle of wine, the least expensive wine on the list. Also, the menu and wine list were difficult to read due to the tiny print and the low light. Tables crowded. Would I go back? No. But my date would due to the delicious food; but then, she didn't pay the bill.

I was at 5 Corners last Thursday night. My friend and I were really looking forward to going. There were so many good things said about this place. I have to say- I had disappointments. It is like they packed as many tables as possible in to that space. The waitresses can barely get around and the one we had was not very attentive until my friend made it clear she had not bothered to give us more water when she took our water pitcher away. The dish we had was very good. No complaints there. It was the tagliatelle dish on the menu and it was very well flavored. My friend knew the woman at the next table -and at first we were hesitant to talk about anything personal for fear she'd hear. But then we realized there was so much noise - it wouldn't be a problem. Of course you go to a restaurant for the food - but the ambiance is important when you are out for dinner. And the noise, the close tables and the inattentive, disinterested waitress will prevent me from returning any time soon

Great change of scenery for Marblehead! The food was delicious, and everyone was so friendly. My favorites were the Chicken Liver Mousse toast, the beet salad, and the wine from Alexander Valley!
