Do not go here if you are in any sort of rush by any means! We were here with a bunch of friends on a Sunday afternoon immediately when they opened at 4:30! There was no hostess to seat us or give us menus. We sat ourselves. AND..there was no waitress. The bartender was also our waiter. We were going to see the Maureen Hancock Medium show in the hotel so we were trying to just hurry our meal along so we could get good seats..That was not going to happen! There were only two tables in the whole restaurant. He brought all the wrong items to our table three times...again...there were only TWO tables! Food took forever as did our check. I had baked chicken, garlic mashed and string beans. The chicken was just okay and the string beans were too hard to even eat.. I would NOT go back to this place...I'd go somewhere else for sure.

This place could be a gold mine (pun intended) if the proper care and attention was paid to it. The potential is there, but not reached. In my opinion the only reason this place gets business is because it's the only restaurant in the hotel. If it were a standalone property, it would go out of business. The atmosphere is just shy of depressing. It is dark, quiet (no music), and there isn't much life. The staff is friendly enough, but that doesn't compensate for the poor ambiance. The food is average quality at best. If this place were completely renovated, it could be very successful. But as it is, you are better off eating elsewhere, or ordering pizza to the hotel (which it looked as if many people were doing).

We stay at the Holiday Inn every February for a conference. We look forward to having two meals here at Pikes Peak. Friday night we would get the ribs and Quackling Rosie, the duck. Tradition. Well this year, 2015, we were very disappointed. The menu has changed. No more ribs, unless they do a special. No more duck. Same old standards on the menu. Not many places do really great ribs, let alone duck. And now, these are gone. So our first night, we had to order items we can get at any other restaurant. Leave unsatisfied. Because I had two of the $10 for $20, we ordered. Did the place change owners? This should be mentioned on the page before you order your coupon. Have the menu available for people to see. Our two visits this time . Plus, the waitress seemed unaware of her job. We had a child with us. They eat for free if staying in hotel. We were. Children get ice cream with their meal. My niece was not even offered hers. She was disappointed. Before this year, I would have given Pikes Peak a 5 star rating, but now, NO!

Waited for an hour before any waitress or waiter even gave me a menu. There was no one in the restaurant. They really just ignored me. The only reason I stayed is because I had already bought a 10 for 20 yelp deal online (before I realized it doesn't apply to drinks).

This restaurant should be assiduously avoided unless all you want is a cold beer. I ate here for the first time tonight and had the clam chowder and the blackened chicken salad for dinner, ranging in quality from unremarkable to horrible. The soup was canned and served in a bread bowl. The bread bowl was composed of some soft, uninteresting bread that neither had taste or body, it was close in consistency to Wonder Bread. The blackened chicken salad was somewhat worse; the chicken was reheated and not fresh, it had a dry fibrous texture. No care was taken in assembling the horrid ensemble of red butter leaf and iceberg lettuce topped with giant chunks of unpeeled cucumber, canned black olives, two hard boiled egg halves, four frozen and reheated bagged onion rings (I am guessing Oreida) , cherry tomatoes and some sliced red onions. The iceberg lettuce was carelessly chopped in sizes ranging from slightly larger than bite size to, I would estimate, a eighth-wedge in size. The ice berg lettuce was all turning brown (very unappetizing) as if it had been sitting all day. The dressing was really just BBQ sauce and mayonnaise. Overall this restaurant was a complete disappointment, the food mediocre to horrible. Serving this food on death row would count for both last meal and execution. The only saving grace was the beer and the bar tender, she at least seemed to know what she was doing. I was going to give this one star, however, the bartender gets one star all by herself, so please subtract her star from the total, that is my opinion of the quality here. This restaurant is horrible!

My family and I visited on a Sunday evening. Really quiet. Waitress was nice and got everything right. Nachos were HUGE but not hot. Free kids meals w/purchase of an adults, great deal. I got a buffalo chicken wrap that was really good, sweet potatoe fries were yummy too.Corn bread and rolls were hot and yummy.

Just an average restaurant that could have probably used the same renovation that the hotel just did. The food feels like its not trying but its convenient so if you want to just lamp in your hotel grab a quick bite here but don't expect anything to great. There's a great bar/restaurant 4 miles away. Check my reviews I can't remember the exact name right now but its right across from the comcast center. Which is probably why your staying here anyway.

Trip#2 to Pikes peak: "Burger time." Apps good and hot as usual. No bread or corn bread this time. Hmmm..... Burgers are actually very good and the price is right concidering the toppings you can add (grilled onions, mushrooms, Three choices of cheese, etc... bacon. Fries are good and hot, Slaw is fresh and cold. The place was desolate as usual due in part to the location. The bar appears cozy and well stocked. The waitress (When not 'Fallen down a mine shaft after the candle went out on her helmet.' or 'Gone off someplace where the canary died.') was attentive to our needs. I really, really would like Pikes Peak to score a four, but when service is needed, (especially when there are only two tables to attend to) and the waitress is nowhere to be seen-this can annoy patrons surely. I am more patient than others so it don't bother me much. but to stick to honesty Pikes still remains a three.

My wife got the pak coupon in the mail and so like others, we headed over one Friday night and the place was empty which always makes me nervous. Feeling brave, I ordered the duck and my wife got tips, salmon, and back-stuffed shrimp. Sorry, service stunk, duck wasn't all it was quacked up to be and my wife gave me a steak tip that I took one bite of and didn;t finish. Now I know why we haven't been there in about 5 years. They must send the coupons out ever 5 years and I'll make sure I get to the val-pak in 2013!

Located inside the Holiday Inn Mansfield. The decor here was interesting, as expected. They had a panoramic view from Pikes Peak (not of Pikes Peak) that kind of made me homesick. The food was not interesting. I had a feeling-Hotel restaurants have a bad history with me. We went here because 1. We were in the neighborhood 2. We had a buy 1 get 1 coupon. The service was friendly enough, in a somewhat too casual kind of way, but the food just didn't make it. 1st off, it's basically a steak house and I don't eat steak-very few items on the menu that weren't steak or steak and something else. Everything was average or less. Stuffed shrimp. Stuffed with what, I have no idea. Some flavorless greasy brown...thing. I always loves sweet potato fries-except here apparently. The veggies were ok-steamed broc & cauliflower. They let us keep the coupon so we would come again. Sorry-I won't be back if it's free.

Spent my birthday at Pike's Peak this weekend with my folks, who are regulars there thanks to the waitstaff and prices. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant, with a mining theme (as the name implies) was well kept, clean and comfortable although a little cool in temperature. It was not as dark as I expected from reading earlier reviews (I did not need a headlamp). Patricia and Kaitlin, our servers were delightful in there personalities and service. They deserve far more than the pittance waitstaff get paid! (note to Mr Obama- do something about this!) The ribs, crispy and juicy at the same time with nice flavor, the duck- REALLY good, better than at some 5 star restaurants I have been to, not greasy and yet moist with a nice peachy sauce. The salmon salad was good but pretty basic, so don't stick to the diet- have the duck! Top it off with a sweet gooey brownie sunday nicely prepared and served in a "don't eat the shell if you want to save calories" taco bowl with a not TOO embarrassing rendition of Happy Birthday. (there was no clapping or group waitstaff sing and I appreciate that!) Go- have fun- eat- and ask for Patricia or Kaitlin before you are seated.

Writing this one gives me heartburn. We've been going here for many years, a few times/year. Usually got good service and the food was decent. However . . . Last two times there we had a ditsy waitress (who even admitted it, totally unsolicited) who screwed up the orders each and every time. 1. There were four of us. My Wife and the other lady ordered same main dish (beef) but different side-orders. My Wife's was supposed to be well-done and the other was supposed to be medium. First she totally screwed up the side dishes, took it back and then my Wife ended up with the Medium and the other lady the Well done. Neither was happy but gave up, partially because the waitress disappeared not to be seen again for probably 15-20 minutes. 2. Just the two of us. Same ditsy waitress. Orders also screwed up. Later my Cousin calls and tells us of same experience that he and his Wife had. He wanted to give it another try, I nixed that idea and we headed to the Tavern for a nice dinner together. Prior times we had a waitress who was very efficient, even when she was very close to childbirth. We later had her again after that baby was born (and noticed that her SO and both children were eating in another booth). If we could guarantee getting her as a waitress again, I'd go back otherwise I'm real reluctant to waste my time and money.
