Went to their Saturday brunch. It's was the best Indian food I have eaten. I have been to many Indian restaurants before and this one will not disappoint. Also, the staff is super nice and attentive. This should have a line around the block, but they don't. Another reason to go.

I really like the food, price, and small wait time here. Is an interesting facility... But the wait staff are formal and very attentive. Some nights they have a buffet which is great if you want to learn more about the different Indian dishes. Inexpensive as well. Overall it's worth a stop

This place is incredible. It is a true jewel tucked away in Lowell's Indian district. It's a great place to take a date, especially for the lunch buffet. The service is fast and courteous. The food is fantastic. They even offer complimentary wifi. Nice Ambiance. We cum here whenever we have to be in Lowell.

Buffet was seriously awesome and good priced Surprised to see dinner buffet on Wednesdays Very very very cool and nice servers. I found a tall Indian with spects aged 45-50's probably very nice at receiving and serving..

This is by far my favorite Indian buffet restaurant. I work in the area from time to time and I enjoy Indian cuisine. Every chance I get, I stop in for lunch. I've brought my wife and a friend here to eat as well, and they absolutely love the food. The food is very good, always fresh, and the wait staff is friendly very attentive. I enjoy music videos and enjoy the fact that they mix up the genre of their music videos to include Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil music videos. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in the area for lunch.

I went for a weekday buffet,I am a vegetarian.Food doesn't taste good, hardly 10 items are available in buffet, had similar experience before won't go again.

My husband is of Indian origin, and we both love this place. We only go for the buffet, and you really can't ask for much more. They have a large selection of both curries and fried items, along with dessert (including gulab jamun!). They have an evening buffet twice a week which is great when you can't always make it for lunch, and it's the same price as the weekend buffet. Current prices are $9.99 for lunch, and $12.99 for evening/weekend. Standard prices for a non-standard buffet. The service is good, and they even knew to give me ice in my water, and none in my husband's without even asking. Definitely add this place to your list!

We went here early for dinner on a Friday night and it was very quiet. The waitstaff was very nice and very attentive. The food was all very good and I love the Bollywood videos playing in the background! Would love to try their buffet sometime. I believe they have Wednesday night buffets and lunch buffets.

Priya Indian Cuisine is a casual restaurant located in the basement of a small strip plaza serving Indian and Indo Chinese cuisine. The place is not fancy, but the food here is pretty good. They offer the Weekday Lunch Buffet (until 2:30 PM) and the Weekend Brunch Buffet (until 3PM). Items change daily. I stopped here for the Weekday Lunch Buffet ($9.99 plus tax) very recently. On my visit, the buffet offerings had around 20 items (12 hot dishes) to choose from including including garden salad, chutneys/dressing, chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, veg curry, basmati rice, cut mirch, sauteed broccoli/onions/peppers, aloo gabi, rasam soup, fruit pudding, gulab jamun, and other items. I was seated immediately upon arrival and I could help myself to the buffet right away. Much of the food on the buffet was pretty good, some items were very spicy too. The chicken tikka masala was good and I enjoyed the vegetable curry and the fresh baked basket of naan, very hot and soft (it took a while to come out, but worth the wait). The fruit pudding (chilled) and gulab jamun (milk balls in hot syrup) were very sweet desserts. The service was adequate on this visit, plates cleared away when I was finished. The food on the buffet was also replenished often with fresh items during my visit. (3.55/5.00)

The Indochinese hot and sour soup was excellent! The weekday buffet was good too. There was a variety of pakoras (chili/potato/onion). There were two chicken curry dishes along with tandoori chicken. The chicken korma was tasty but a bit too salty. They had idli and sambar too. Those were good too. The sambar spice levels had too much variation. The first serving I took was perfect. But the second one I took about 20 min later was crazy hot (I have a high spice threshold). The wifi (which they advertised) was non-functional. Being in a basement location, the place has zero cellphone reception, which was a botheration. But the service was great otherwise. I'm definitely going back.

Best Indian food I have had outside of India. But the restaurant is in a basement, so ambience is not its forte.

I like Indian food and have eaten at some of the best places in the US and Canada. I came on a weekday evening, so the place was pretty quiet. Started with Kadai Paneer and it was excellent! Great fresh vegetable, tasty and just the right amount heat sauce and the cheese was just perfect. I then had the Lamb Vindaloo and a Garlic Naan. The Lamb was cooked perfectly! Tender and flavorful, the sauce was one of the best I have had. I asked for hot and they made it perfectly. The rice was a perfect compliment and the garlic naan was done to perfection. The Manager (owner?) came over and talked with me and shared some history of the place. If you like Indian food or would like to try it for the first time, this is an excellent place to go. Very authentic, excellent service, great management and a great ambiance. 5+ stars as far as I am concerned.

My friend and I accidentally stumbled upon buffet night at Priya last Wednesday evening. The staff was very helpful but I'm afraid the buffet was not impressive. Most dishes were all sauce and no substance. Were these leftovers? Perhaps we should have ordered from the menu. On the other hand the desserts were yummy. Fruit custard, mango mousse and 2 other items were all delicious.

The hubby and I wanted to grab a quick Indian meal after our workout so we headed to Priya Indian Cuisine on 1270 Westford Street in Lowell (more like Drumhill). It's a convenient restaurant for us to get our Indian fix and the prices are reasonable at $ 12.99 for their weekend lunch buffet that is served between noon and 3:00 PM. The restaurant is located in a small strip plaza off the main road and parking is limited on the weekends, competing with the nearby restaurants and salons in the same building. Priya is located on a sub level floor where you have to descend a couple flights of stairs to get to. (The space used to be a Cambodian restaurant/nightclub called New Paradise many years ago.) The decor of the restaurant is on the simple and basic side with just a couple of flat screen TV's showing Indian movies. Since the restaurant is located beneath the building, there are no windows. There is a separate banquet/party room attached that caters birthday parties and other festive celebrations. My husband and I was the first one at the restaurant arriving exactly at noon. The waiter poured our water glasses and asked if we were doing the buffet. We headed over to the side tables and main buffet station to scope out the goods. I liked that there was a variety and it wasn't the same dishes all the time. There was a great mix of vegetarian and meat dishes to satisfy both appetites. There were some familiar items such as the chicken biryani and tandoori chicken but also unique Indo-Chinese dishes such as the Majestic Chicken which resembled a Chinese crispy salt and pepper chicken dish with jalapenos. After we got appetizers of idili, palak spinach bonda and spicy lentil "sloppy-joe" like sandwiches, the waiter asked if we wanted dosas. Of course we did, those are my favorite! The dosas were crispy and thin just the way I liked it but the stuffing was a bit different that what I was used to. The potato filling had onions and green chili peppers that added a kick to the dish. I used my hands to eat it and dipped it in the sambar vegetable soup. After going back a couple more rounds, we were stuffed. At first I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't eating the naan, rice or biryani, but I was glad I laid off the carbs because I was still satisfied with all the meat in the curry dishes. To finish off the meal, I had small tablespoon of apple mousse which tasted like greek yogurt and applesauce and a tiny bit of the cheese morsels in the nutty cream sauce. The meal was great and I would recommend it to friends. Check out foods pics mami-eggroll.com/2014/02…

Went in today for the lunch buffet. It is a very decent place. Spacious, clean and fast service. It wasnt slammed-ofcourse its Monday lunch. Why would it be slammed right? So, a decent selection on the buffet. 2 non veg gravies (both chicken), 2 veg gravies (one paneer and one mix veggies), chicken tandoori, mixed veggies pakodas. Naan and dosa served on the table. It was all very tasty and mild. Suits best for the American taste. My favorite from today were tandoori and gajar ka halwa. I wouldnt mind going in there again and filling myself up again :)

Ehh. I've been here a couple times now (always for the lunch buffet) and I have failed to be impressed. It's not bad, but there are definitely way better Indian lunch buffets out there. My biggest complaint is that there's not enough variety. All the Indian lunch buffets I've been to for this price are much larger than this. To add to this, some of the main dishes (Rasam, etc.) are supremely spicy. Maybe my taste buds are particularly sensitive since I stopped eating Indian food at home every day and I know that South Indian food is spicier in general, but the last time I was here even my parents found some of the dishes to be very spicy. It kind of kills the experience when you can't actually taste the food because of how spicy it is. Finally, some of the buffet items - to put it bluntly - were half-assed. There was one dessert - labeled as a fruit salad I think - that was literally just multi-colored whipped cream, no fruit. So why 3 starts and not 1 or 2? There were some positives. First, other than the dishes I mentioned above, everything else was average - not bad. The dhahi bhath, though, was delicious (though I don't know what it says about a place that my favorite thing there was the yogurt rice). The ambiance is really nice - it's good for a family meal, and the service was also good - they were quick to take away plates and fill water glasses. I will be back because my parents love coming here whenever I visit home. If I had to pick though, I would probably go somewhere else.

I like curry so I convinced (or bagged) my family to visit this restaurant. We had a great time overall. But it turned out I was only one who really liked Indian food. I want to go some time again but I am not sure I will go with my family. The reason I am giving four stars is the variety of buffet foods. It was not many as I wanted.

  • K B.

My bad experience is not related to food. Their food is pretty good and has been consistently good over the years. I recently had a party there and they over charged me at-least $300. Be very careful and upfront about policy around head-count. Mr, Venkant, the guy who runs the restaurant is passive-aggressive.

  • Robin Z.

We went for lunch, but beware...there are several restaurants (Indian, Mediterranean, I think Thai, pizza) all in a row and the parking lot is very tiny. Parking is a disaster! But the lunch buffet is fabulous and you can also order off the menu. We all ordered the buffet but had naan bread and ordered dosha. One plain, one stuffed with potato. Save room for dessert. The gulab jamun is maybe the best I've ever had!!

  • Wayne F.

I especially liked that they brought hot Naan bread to the table. The service and food were very good. The were several different dishes on the buffet which made it more interesting.

I love the weekday lunch buffet. For $9.99, you can't go wrong. The selection varies every day, but there is always a nice variety from which to choose, including both meat and vegetarian options. There are also weekend buffets, but I believe they are closer to $14. There are more options, but there are also usually more people, so there can sometimes be a wait for a table. At first glance, it is easy to overlook with it being in a basement and all, but it is very clean and doesn't feel like a basement once you're inside. I am a regular here - I have never been disappointed. Of course, sometimes there are some dishes that are cooked slightly better than others, but the beauty of a buffet is that you can try a little of everything =)

I am not of Indian origin but enjoy Indian food all around (I travel a lot) for many years now. I cannot attest to the authenticity of dishes as others did. I have visited Priya restaurant 3 times in the last month (it says everything - I live a good half an hour away). All my visits were for lunch buffet and for me the more important thing is that in each of these visits there were different dishes and at least one dish I have never tried before anywhere (doesn't happen a lot in other restaurants that usually repeat the same dishes). Note: I love spicy food and much enjoy a large variety of spices. This said, a person who does not enjoy spicy food might find himself with very little choice in the buffet (but can order from the menu). It sure gets my thumbs-up.

The good thing about priya is that they are consistent in quality. I love Wednesday chaat buffet. The curries offered on menu are great. Try kuthuparantha..really good. The only drawback is the sweets they offer. Not the best of sweets I've had and also you dont get phone signal since its in basement. Its close to my home and I go once a week.

COCKROACHES IN THE FOOD I love Indian food and have been a regular at Priya for a long time because it is really the only game in town. Today I got lunch at their buffet and noticed some unusual spices after finishing almost everything on my plate. Unusual spices . . . that turned out to be small cockroaches in the food. :( I immediately told the manager, who did not look at all surprised. I told him he needs to get an exterminator in ASAP, and he said they know about the problem and have an exterminator scheduled to come in. They know about the problem? Then why are they still serving the cockroach-infested food? I will not be going back and am disgusted that I probably ate a few cockroaches today.

This inside of this place is beautiful! I was completely uneducated about Indian food when I first tried Priya. The gentleman at the front of the establishment was very kind and helpful in teaching me about the many foods and what they taste like. I've been here a handful of times, and the food is so delicious and exotic. I'd love to have a dinner party here sometime- the decor is very inviting and the food and service is great.

  • Ananya N.

My husband and I are a regular at Priya Indian Cuisine. It is a nice restaurant with a pleasant ambience and a very pleasing staff. We have never had the lunch buffet but cannot wait to do so. The dinner - À la carte menu, is very impressive. We have had the Tandoori Chicken, the Chicken 65, Drums of Heaven, The Fish fry, the Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan, Dal Makhani and I can continue on and on! This is to say, the food is DELICIOUS! We love the food and we will always keep going back. I would recommend it to everyone.

  • Foodie M.

This place serves the best goat/chicken biryani in town. It's waay waay waay better than pongal and biryani point. Not exaggerating peeps! check it out. However i can't say the same about the other items on the menu. It's a hit or miss..i guess it depends on who's stirring the pot every morning. And a side disclaimer.. think twice before ordering kottu paratha - To Go. My order was made with stale, dry rotis/parathas. I couldn't return the dish as i don't live in the area. I called the restaurant to complain; the owner/Mgr (not sure) didn't care to compensate the $14 dish. However, he did ask me to bring it back but like i said, i don't live in the area. 4 stars for the biryani and biryani alone!

  • Jayanta D.

Excellent food. I had the lunch buffet on Sunday Aug 31 and would happily drive 50 miles again to eat there. The tandoori chicken was tender, juicy and very well marinated. Other dishes were genuinely tasty too.

We stopped at this place midway through a long drive to Vermont. I had heard a lot about a more famous restaurant in Lowell, but was not very happy with my experience there and decided to take a chance with Priya. The setting was in a basement downstairs, but decent for an eating place. To our pleasant surprise, the food tasted really good. I've been to many Indian restaurants in MA and tend to have low expectations, but this experience was really good.I would rate this as a great place for Indian cuisine, probably one of the best that I have experienced in Massachusetts. Of course, it's known that the Indian restaurants in places like New Jersey are superior to the ones that we have in Massachusetts, but this place would rank quite high on my list for Indian food in this state. I'd say four stars simply because of the above.

  • Shannon K.

I haven't found a new go to Indian place since moving so I looked in yelp this evening and ended up here. My husband and I ordered the priya special chicken and naan to go. The drive was a little longer than I would prefer but the food was so good I'm sure well be returning often. The portion was huge. We both shared and had some left over. The chicken was extremely moist and the sauce was spicy as requested and very flavorful.

This review is only for takeout dinner. Not the Buffet I ordered the Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan to go. The price was about $18.00. Yikes... When I got home I found the sauce had good flavor however there wasn't much chicken to be found and the Naan was just OK. For $18.00 I expect half a freaking chicken. This was lunch portion for dinner prices. Also, I ordered it EXTRA EXTRA spicy and it just had a little bit of kick. Probably won't be back, doubt I could afford to any way...

I was here last week for dinner. We were a group of 5, and we ordered Onion dosa, gobi manchurian, schezuan fried rice, poori, cut mirchi, chicken Biriyani etc. .. Simply put, the most common items. They were undercooked and tasteless. We started looking for other restaurants nearby. The service was excellent in terms of their responsiveness and being helpful. However, we had reached a stage where we could not even tell them how bad the food was. Not planning to go back there.

Great food. Specially Onion dosa, chilly paneer and kadai paneer. Waiters are friendly and good service.

  • L K.

My husband and I order takeout from Priya about once a week...we're addicted to their Malai Kofta (I know I probably spelled that wrong) and their Chicken Tikka Masala. I have probably tried every Indian restaurant in this area for those two dishes and Priya is my favorite. Plus, the food is always ready when we go to pickup, nice and hot, and always consistently yummy. They are always very friendly and now recognize us whenever we come in. We've only eaten inside the restaurant once, but that was also a very nice experience...very clean and nice presentation of the food. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of were the TVs playing constant Bollywood music videos...they were a little loud and some of them brought up a lot of questions by my 4 year old...but we still give this restaurant a 5 because their food is awesome!

  • Ally R.

My man and I went here to eat tonight - as we are big Indian food fans and were excited to try a new place...and since the reviews on here were close to excellent we felt assured we'd have a great meal. But...sadly, we did not. PORN ALERT!!! First, I must say every person that waited on us was very kind and sweet. That was not the problem. But to start things off, there were two television screens playing some sort of soft porn Bollywood videos. It was very strange to see the Indian Fabio being straddled and seduced on his motorcycle by a sexy vixen as he navigated the open road (without a helmet! the shame! :) while we ate our pakoras and samosas. And then... HYGIENE ALERT!!! The girl who replaced our silverware between apps and dinner handled THE EATING PART of our knives, spoons, and forks WITH HER HANDS! YUCK! And instead of placing our utensils in the proper positions next to our plates she awkwardly put them on our plates...and THEN...the BIG THING that put us over the edge... HAIR ALERT!!! Psyched to get our meals, we chagrined to find a GIANT LONG BLACK HAIR slithering its way from the Shahi Paneer up and over the serving spoon and coiling its nastiness over the lip of the dish. YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! Needless to say, we could barely take a bite and were thankful we filled up on apps, so it wasn't a total wash. On the upside, my man did enjoy the Chicken Tikki Masala... Sorry, Priya, we really did want to give you more stars...but just can't honestly do so.

We had to drive for 40 miles to get here and my friend had to leave to his place after a long weekend. But the food was worth the drive, simply delicious and the best South Indian cuisine in whole of greater Boston area. I have tried other Indian restaurants but this is the best among them in quality and taste. You guys rock. The service was good too. Keep doing the good work!!

I love Priya, I love how nice the people that work there are, how flavorful and fresh the food is. It is EASILY my Indian restaurant of choice. I order the same thing everytime--Ginger Chicken Curry with Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi on the side. My mouth is watering just talking about it!

There are really no words for Priya Restaurant - just taste their food and that says it all! Planning and dealing with them was so easy for our wedding. Venkat (the owner) provided us with a variety of different options (both North & South Indian food), and food for the full wedding day (lunch, cocktail hour, and dinner). He also coordinated directly with our venue (Skymeadow Country Club), so we didn't have to worry about doing any extra coordination for having an outside food vendor - that was a huge relief! And finally, everyone loved the food - it was absolutely delicious! He was prompt, easy to work with, and the pricing was very, very reasonable. We'd definitely use Priya Restaurant for catering again!

Excellent food. Went here for dinner when other places were closed. Glad that I did that. Ambience was very pleasing and the service was good too. Will definitely visit again when I am in the area.

This is my favorite restaurant ever! If you're a vegetarian, I recommend the Narvatan Korma as well as the vegetable simosas. However, pretty much everything is tasty here and there is a buffet for those who cannot decide. On top of great food, the waiters are very nice and check up on you just enough. For entertainment, kids can play in the fountain or watch the bali music videos streaming on the multiple televisions.

  • Chris G.

This is still my favorite lunch spot, although the ambiance is not ideal for a nice dinner. The consistency of the buffet has improved quite a bit though which is why I'm updating it to 5 stars. Additionally, I've had them cater an event for me now as well and the food for that was excellent and ready on time. I would definitely use them again. I can't recommend this place for excellent Indian food enough.

If u r looking for proper Indian food then this is not the place...food is average I went for the lunch buffet hardly 10 dishes cold food bad appetizers.. Only plain rice for main meal, no curd and two deserts... To the point Americanized Indian food Madras grill's food was much tastier

We were a group of 6 and it was our first time at this restaurant. We all love indian food and wanted to enjoy some good food so picked this place. South Indian food sucks. Dosa and vada had no salt, weren't cooked properly, chutneys were frozen. We ordered chole Bathura and the poori was not fried well and it was very thick and hard. Vegetable biriyani smelled of egg. We were vegetarians and this was really against our principles. We ended up leaving the biriyani after trying one spoon and none of the staff bothered to check with us. The only good dish was chilly paneer. May be the North Indian dishes are good. Would highly recommend not to try any of the South Indian dishes here. Bad experience overall!! If you like to enjoy good South Indian dosas try dosa n curry in Somerville! This is one of the best dosa places in Boston area.

  • Dan G.

I don't waste my time with tikka masala, its not Indian yet somehow finds its way onto every buffet across the country. Well, I started a job recently which is right next to Priya and was told that I had to try it out, so I went with my sister and what an yummy experience! I was pleased to see that they didn't waste space on the buffet with tikka masala, but instead they had more "authentic" dishes which I had never seen at any of the Indian buffets I've been to! The flavors were excellent as well. Below is a list of items that I have never seen at a buffet but was super excited that they had: Idli Sambar (to go with the idli) Lentil cakes Not a huge list, but they are items that made me happy to see. They also had a nice variety of chutnies, however, they were quite brilliantly colored, not sure if they added food coloring but that was a little strange, but tasted great still.

Worth driving to Lowell for...and that says a lot. ;) Seriously, I was incredibly impressed by the food here. It's outstanding. They really know what they're doing. The mix of flavors was engaging, the portion sizes are HUGE, the staff is on the ball. I also appreciated that so many Indian families were there, it makes me feel their food's legit. I'll definitely be going back!

My husband and I have just discovered how delicious Indian food is so we are making the rounds and trying out all our local restaurants. We went on a Sunday night and got the buffet so we could sample everything. All the food was delicious and just a tiny bit spicy. The naan bread was freshly baked and soft. All in all, very good. We will definitely come back!

I have been to Indian restaurants all over the North east (NE, Tri-State, Philly area). Trust me that's a lot of places. Majority of the time, these places have ranged from terrible to marginally ok. This place has the best Indian food I have had in America. This place as most people from the Lowell area know this used to be called Kebab- which was a complete embarrassment. Kebab went under new management a while back and Priya came out as a damn phoenix rising through the ashes of crappy Kebab. Whoever the head chef is knows how to make both Northern and Southern dishes. The masalas here are exactly like it should be. This place has the best shrimp biryani I have ever had. Yes this place is in a basement and it can run you up a bill of around 40$ on average, but regardless this place is amazing. The wait staff are attentive.

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about Indian food, but having come here for the lunch buffet several times, and having gone for take-out makes me want to learn and experience more. As to the lunch buffet: The food is always freshly prepared. Dishes aren't sitting out for hours. Moreover, the quality of the buffet is as good as if you came during the dinner hour. Often, lesser establishments will pull a sort of bait and switch with their buffets. Not here. As to the take-out: Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it. This is not the cornstarch stiffened glop you might get from a bad Chinese place. The food is really high quality. You might also be disappointed by the portions, but as I learned again just tonight, what they give you is more than enough.

I must first state that I am in no way an expert at Indian cuisine, however - you don't need to be to know what your stomach likes. I must also point out that Indian cuisine is few and far between in the Lowell area. Food I came here on two occasions, the first time I ordered Priya Special Chicken (because the menu had a typo and it caught my eye). The second time I ordered Lamb Vindaloo. Both times I ordered the naan bread mix basket. At first, when you get your food - you think to yourself "I could eat three times the portion they just gave me", however, towards the end of the serving you'll be sweating and asking for more water. The dishes are moderately spicy, and the heat builds with each bite you take. The naan/bread really gets you full if you're eating it at the same time as the main dishes. I must point out that though they give you naan, I really like the basmati rice. The texture is just right - soft but not dry. If I could, I'd switch the naan for the rice. Atmosphere First thing you'll notice when you're seated is the TV for sure. It appears to be a string of Bollywood music videos that are actually kind of catchy. Unfortunately, the restaurant is set up so that the smaller tables (four or less) are all on one side - and the bigger tables 6+ are on another side. Privacy is a bit limited. Staff The staff both times were pretty attendant. They're quick to refill your water, and are very knowledgeable about the food/ingredients. The food comes out quickly and in the right order. Final Thoughts Although it is one of the few Indian restaurants in the Lowell area, and the price is a little high for casual dining - I would definitely recommend this place for an occasional eating experience.

Our first time here recently. The food was excellent, one of the best in our area. Service was very good. We'll be back!

While traveling, I was lucky to find Priya. The food is some of the best Indian I have had in this country. The service is wonderful.

I just had the lunch buffet here, and it is the best Indian food I have had in the Boston area. Great selection in the buffet, everything was fresh and delicious, and the selection of chutneys was both comprehensive and very tasty. Will definitely be back!

Wow, this place was a lot better than I was expecting, given what used to be in this location... My SO and I have both been to India so we're not new to Indian food, we love it, we (try to) cook it at home. We both thought the food here was pretty good. This place is in a basement, kind of the definition of a hole in the wall, er, floor. So you don't come here for ambiance. But the food is very much worth it, as is the attentive and courteous service. I know we Americans love our meat but I have to strongly recommend the vegetarian dishes above all. They're fantastic, very delicious. They do ask you how how you want the dishes, and when we asked for proper heat in our dishes, we actually got something decently hot. That's very much appreciated by this reviewer! We ordered a number of plates and not the buffet (I'm just not a fan of buffet in general), especially since we were at the restaurant close to 8pm on a Wednesday. The buffet seemed pretty popular with the many families in attendance, but I can't comment on it really. This is definitely one of the better restaurants in the entire county, frankly. I've been to many of the Indian restaurants in the area as they've come and gone, inevitably many of them end up "dumbing down" a lot of the authentic flavor (and heat) in an attempt to not scare off more timid customers. Inevitably the regular folks stop going, because the food becomes inauthentic, and the place closes. I hope this place does not make that mistake as so many of its competitors have, as it's really good just as it is.

Excellent lunch buffet for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. So glad I ventured in. A lot of choices and the price was a great deal.

Went to Priya recently for their Sunday night buffet, the place had small roaches all over. There were some roaches even at the buffet table. Never going back again!

The food taste was decent but do not look around while eating(like I did). I found a cockroach on the near by table. Before I could inform the waiter, he pushed the cockroach away with his bare hands!! Imagine being served the food with the same hands! Also questionable is the food quality. We had severe stomach ache and vomiting for the next 2 days.

While I'm by no means an expert on Indian food, I did really enjoy this place. It was much larger than it looked from the outside, and also a lot nicer. The service and atmosphere were great-it's really nice mix of classy and yet casual enough that you could probably take your family there. In fact, I'm pretty positive it's a popular family spot. I had the saag which was delicious, and I'd definitely go back to try out the other items!

Very good first experience! We went there for dinner and immediately I noticed that they had dosa, which I haven't seen at many Indian restaurants. I ordered one that was stuffed with potatoes, and it was delicious. The crepe-like dough was crisp and tender, the filling was nicely spiced. Our entrees were very good as well. I got chicken tikka, and my husband had the lamb vindaloo and saag paneer, with their bread basket. It was all very good. Service was good as well. Attentive, but not overbearing. We're looking forward to going back again.

I've come to know this place as "Indian Basement" versus its actual name due to the fact that this restaurant is underground. The decor confuses me a little bit. Why is there a random fountain in the middle with an off center spotlight above it? Was there no better scenery to post on the faux windows becauses the actual parking lot outside? Despite this, the food here is good. I've only been to the lunch buffet, and there's a good selection of both regular and vegetarian dishes. The servers are good about filling up the waters and bringing naan to the table. Important, because the dishes here are pretty spicy! Come hungry, the food here is extremely filling. Come early too, the parking lot can be a nightmare.

I've found the spot where I will learn more about Indian food. I loved this food. I couldn't give it 5 stars only because I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to Indian food and there could be places that are better. Who am I to say? I might update it later when I'm more knowledgeable. To order, we consulted with the waiter who was very helpful in pairing different dishes. He was able to banter back and forth with us as well, putting up with our lighthearted sarcasm. Ordered Samosa Chat as an app and it was yummy. Lamb Rogan Josh and Saag Panner went well mixed together over rice. We were surprisingly full after what only looked like a little bit, but kept eating because it was that good. The mixed drinks are also inexpensive and not watered down. Oh, and when we first arrived there were only 3 other tables in use and this is a big place. I was curious to see if that was an indicator that the food wasn't that great. Later on, 4 or 5 groups and couples of Indian folks came in. Now THAT could be a good indicator that it's the real deal. I will be going back to this place which is right next to my other favorite, Pho88.

We went there on Saturday for lunch. The restaurant is spacious. Ideal to big groups. They have a great variety of food. Taste wise I would rate the overall food average. Though they had the best biryani I had, in any of the Indian restaurants in the US.

The most amazing chicken tikka masala! Everything I had is wonderful! Our waiter (Brenton, I think was his name) was SO helpful in explaining the foods to a friend who was a first timer! One thing that's not on the menu that I've had before I asked for (onion badji?) and it was made for us and superb! I've been there during buffet hours as well as hours when the buffet is not served. They do get a much larger crowd for the buffet, as one would expect. The selection is great too! So much to choose from! For the person that wrote about the belly ache after...you have to get to know your curry!

My co-workers and I went for the lunch buffet today, and it was very impressive! All of the items were well-prepared, and my Indian co-workers gave it two thumbs up. We'll be coming back!

I highly recommend trying the Sunday lunch buffet. If you've never had Indian food before and want to try a few things, this is definitely the way to go. Don't let the idea of "buffet" make you think you're getting a watered down imitation; its the real thing. Huge selection and changes week to week. While there is always at least 2 or 3 chicken mains up for tasting, there are plenty of vegetarian dishes as well. Never too crowded, always quick service. Very much recommend the Chicken 65.

I tried this place out after going to 2 places that ended up being closed on a Tuesday night. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sort of new to the whole Indian food thing. I've only tried a handful of places including India Gourmet, Bollywood Grill, Ambassador Indian, Bombay Mahal, Pongal, and a now-closed place near my work. This was the best so far. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and also tried the chicken vindaloo and a samosa. The samosa was perfect. The chicken tikka masala had perfectly cooked white meat chicken in it, and the tikka masala sauce was creamy , tasty, and seasoned perfectly. The few bites of vindaloo I had were also one of the best I've tried. The naan was good too. The place is pretty nice inside too. It has a pretty big dining room. We were the only people in the place, but then again it was a Tuesday night. I can't wait to try the lunch buffet someday. I'm pumped to find out that there's a good Indian restaurant in Lowell.

My wife and I recently tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. Kebab had been our first restaurant in Lowell, and we weren't too impressed by their buffet. Priya, on the other hand, is like a phoenix rising from the ashes of Kebab. The dining room was a little under half-full for late on a week night, and we had decided to skip the buffet and order right off the menu. The Samosa Chat was pretty interesting, and not something that I had found at other Indian places. Its basically "Indian nachos" with samosa-patties topped with onion, cilantro, mint chutney, and tamarid sauce. I ordered the Murgh Tikka Sagwala, spiced between "medium and hot" as per my usual. The sauce was delightfully creamy, like a tikka masala but with a taste of spinach. My only wish was that Priya used white meat instead of dark meat in this dish. The texture of the dark meat threw off what could have been a 5-star dish. My wife tried the Avial, and while it was decent, it was not her favorite. In her words "we'll be back, but I'll be trying something else". We split an order of Garlic Naan, which perfectly complemented our entrees. The bread was soft, yet slightly chewy, and fresh from the oven. The topping of oil, garlic, and cilantro was just right - not too much garlic, but enough to be worthy of the name "Garlic Naan". We each had a dessert, and I sampled the Kheer. The dessert portions were a little small, and I found the kheer could have been a lot creamier. So far, I've yet to find one as good as India Palace (all three locations). Across the appetizer, entrees, naan, desserts and tip, we were in and out for about $50, slightly cheaper than some of the other North Indian restaurants in the area. We'll be going back, but probably trying other dishes with our next pass.

I like that they have things on the menu you can't find everywhere. Ily? Dosa? Those are not as common as other things you can find but they were still delicious. It's an interesting location in the basement of the building but the staff is friendly, the food is tasty and I would definitely return if I was in the area.

I was expecting much better food. While the potato burger presented great spices, a great deal of the food is fried. The date drink mixed with coconut milk was very tasty. Service seems to be an issue they need to work on- the owner needs to read these reviews apparently. I would like to try the Dosas the next time. Will continue to explore further from home.

Priya has a great buffet with many good options. Food had decent spice for a buffet, but there are still less spicy options my toddler can enjoy. This is usually a good lunch place ( I can remember being disappointed once or twice) that as more hits than misses.

Staff was friendly, atmosphere was comfortable, and the food was great! I ate dinner within the last year with a couple of others there and it was fun! Ordered different broths that heated on our table, ingredients/ spices on the side, and made our own soups/ dished from it! I was a fun and delicious dinner place. Hoping to get people to go back there with me soon.

Sorry to rain on the 1st 5 star review. I am not that new to Indian food and this one is an also-ran. It is at heart a South Indian place but masquerades otherwise by adding a bunch of chicken dishes. And in the process does bad at both. It is in a basement location with fake windows and tacky decoration. If you wanted real south Indian, try Udupi nearby and if you wanted a general Indian buffet fix, try India Palace nearby. Or just go upstairs to Pho88 where for half the price, you would do a whole lot better. Disappointed

As another reviewer wrote, this place arose from the ashes of the former establishment Kebab, which rose from the ashes of the horrible dark asian themed nightclub that was there before. Each rendition it is getting a little better. This review is primary in regards to the lunch buffet which myself and my foodie comrades take in about once a month. For the area this buffet is one of the best. The weekday lunch buffet is $9.50 and worth every penny. As soon as you've been shown to a table dump your stuff and briskly stroll over to the buffet area. The reason is that within 5 minutes of being seated you will have mouth watering hot fresh naan brought to your table. While this Indian bread is delicious when pipping hot, within 20 minutes it is shoe leather. It is the way of the naan. My favorites from the buffet are the awesome rasam soup, mushroom saag, butter chicken, anything daal (lentals), and the hot naan. For a while they were also bringing out fresh dosa to anyone doing the buffet but they seem to have recently stopped that. Not a big loss as there are plenty of options on the buffet to keep you going. The only bad part about this place is that you may each so much at lunch that when you waddle back to your desk job you go into a food coma. I have to do my best to restrain myself from overeating here, very difficult. Probably the only place better for lunch is the all vegetarian Meena's Kitchen in Nashua, but it is too far to consider during work hours.

This place grows on you, especially because there are few Indian restaurants in the Lowell area. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean with a warm atmosphere and the food is pretty good too. I went for dinner and had vegetable meals both times and was very satisfied. The restaurant was under another name, and old management when it opened a couple years ago, so it was a surprised how much better it was than I remember.

I went for the Chaat buffet with a group of friends. The food was not great, but not very bad either. I would probably have gone with 2 stars if it hadn't been for the upset stomachs that followed! almost all of us fell sick after dinner, with stomach aches and indigestion. The food was either not fresh or prepared unhygienically.. i will definitely not go there again!

I was up in Lowell visiting family and they went to the place next door and I do not care for that style of food at all so I discovered this place. I was skeptical at first but I decided to go in. I was happy to see they had the buffet going on. Luckily they had the dishes I always order!! The food was amazing. The chicken tikka masala had a nice kick to it which I was surprised with since every Indian buffet I have been to usually makes all the buffet food rather mild. The sauce was amazing over the rice the chicken was perfect. The palak paneer was the best I have ever had. It had so much flavor! I also loved the cheese they used. I tried a few other things too which were also very tasty. The waiter was also very nice and attentive. If you love Indian food and happen to be in the area check this place out it is worth it. The price of the buffet was more then worth the money. I think it came out to about 11 dollars. When I am in the area I will make it a point to go there again. I just wish it was closer I would be there all the time!!
