'Fine Home Cooking... Fresh from the freezer' Horrible service. Came for lunch. Waitress was very rude. The drinks came out wrong. One member of my party ordered a side salad, and the waitress never brought it. When the food finally came she acknowledged that she didn't bring it and offered to bring soup instead. The Clam Chowder was cold. Irish Calzone tasted like it was hot pocket from the freezer. Most of the staff was huddled around the bar complaining loudly about their job and what they had to 'go through' Not coming back.

We've been a few times now and found the menu changed from our last visit. If they bring back the Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sundae it will get another star = that dessert is worth it by itself! It was awesome! BRING IT BACK!! Ok so on with the review, the service is always been decent to very good all depends on the night and time if it's busy - don't make any plans for afterwards. The food is comfort American with some nice traditional Irish options. They have some Dart Boards off to the side and music (I think nightly) in the back BUT the entire place is open so read LOAD no matter where you sit. Lively atmosphere, all in all a great place to come have a drink, relax or listen to some music as well as have some tasty grub.

Review is only for drinks. I've only been here for drinks with co-workers since we work nearby. Drink menu: Not many on tap to choose from but good enough for my taste. Price: Drinks are priced fairly well-typical of most local pubs. Atmosphere: It has a typical old Irish Pub feeling and looking to it. Pretty awesome-in my opinion. Dim lighting as well. Service: Staff was very attentive and quick to take your order and checking in if additional drinks are needed. It's a really chill place to hang out and catch up with friends and co-workers. Try it- for the drinks anyway.

Meh - as far as the food goes, it's good and solid fair. Drinks - not so much, service - probably a 2. My son enjoys the bar so I'll stop bay and have a drink and apps - but other than that - disinterested young staff with not much experience.

One of the few dining options in the food desert of Hartwell Ave, it gets decently busy during lunch, and completely insane after work. It's difficult to find parking after 5pm, and just completely mobbed with people inside. I'll break my review down into two parts: (1) All food except for the sriracha lime wings (see point 2). meh. I am not impressed by the food (or really the service) here. They try to spice it up by adding "ethnic" stuff like chicken tikka marsala (wtf? in an IRISH bar?) but really everything is just not that great. (2) Sriracha Lime Chicken Wings - AMAZING. 5 stars. This is the only thing I order here now, and it's awesome. There's a good bit of heat, but not burn your taste buds to nothing type hot. Soooo goood. I'm drooling a bit as I write this.

Oh waxy, I like you, I really do. But you really need to inform people one special types of events are going on. We came here as a party of three one night, didn't have any idea at the bar/seating area was running some sort of trivia. And nobody, not even our server explained how we could participate. And they were giving some good prizes too! My food was good. It's always good. I like the vibe they are. I will always go there I just wish somebody had told us how to participate, interesting, because I answered every question correctly at my table. I would've been the grand champion that night. Ha ha ha Good selection of drinks for those who like alcohol. And the food is reasonably priced with huge portions. Try it at least once- Yay!

Exceptional service and great food. Considering how grumpy my party was, the waitress was very nice and patient. By the end of the meal we were all happy!

Avoid... If you come here for a late dinner on Sunday and it's empty. If you want a booth it's a 20 minute wait!! Garbage!!!

Been here twice, the first time was on a Friday night for drinks after leaving another establishment. We heard about Waxy's from a co-worker and fell in love with the place even more went we found out a band was playing!! The 2nd time was even better. Great food, incredible appetizers, and a waitress who made sure we had plenty to drink and were well taken care of. Definitely a strong recommend to go to. The location might seem out of the way, but its well worth it!!

I went on St Patricks day. The atmosphere was nice. The food is really good. My friend ordered the buffalo mac and cheese and it was so delish. Im going back for more. I had chicken tenders that were bursting with flavor. Oh and they have this delish clam chowder. Nice and creamy full of clam. Negative: The service from the waiter wasn't great but it was busy so hard to tell if its always like that or it was just that night. Also they gave me my Guinness in a plastic cup, again could of been one of those things just for that night.

I had a mixed experience here. I went with a large group in the late afternoon for "lunch." I had a steak salad, which was delicious--the steak was spicy, the bacon and blue cheese a good complement, and the greens were fresh. It was a bit salty for my taste, and a bit spicier than I expected, but I enjoyed it and would happily eat it again. My wife had fish tacos, which were good but much spicier than she expected, and really spicier than she wanted. The other folks in the group enjoyed their food. Our group was demanding: we moved from outside to inside, had several noisy, active young children with us, and did that annoying thing of ordering another drink as soon as the waitress came by with the previous order. That said, even before we were annoying the staff was professional but cold and unfriendly, as if they had been well trained but didn't particularly like their work or working with people. This was true of the waiter and waitress who served us and of the hostess, who was polite but not kind or warm. The staff also seemed not to know about our reservation, which was surprising but didn't cause any real problems. I guess my take-home message is: the food was fine, the service was professional, but I don't know what would motivate me to go there again. A note about how I rate: It seems to me that people mean very different things by the stars they give in a review. Here's what I mean: 5 stars means that a place is exceptional in some way, special even among very good peers; 4 stars means that the place is very good in every relevant category but not outstanding or exceptional; 3 stars means adequate--a place I would go to again but not great; 2 stars means unacceptable--a place I would not go again because it is seriously deficient in some way; 1 star is horrible, that the place was not only unacceptable in some way but that it was exceptionally, unforgivably bad. In every case my rating is comparing the place reviewed to similar places-- thus an outstanding diner gets a 5 even though on an absolute scale its food might not be as good as that at a gourmet restaurant.

I absolutely love this place even though the service is not great. My husband loves their old fashion drink and I have cravings for bangers and mash every now and then pretty decent.

Noisy. Hostess was less then friendly. Menu hardly represented an Irish cuisine. Most items resembled other cultures. Don't think we will return and would not recommend this place especially as an Irish eatery.

I was on a business trip to Lexington, MA, and when I got to town, I was hungry. So I Googled on my phone for what restaurants were nearby. One of them was Waxy O'Connors Irish Pub. That sounded good and I could use a beer after the long flight. Arrived at the pub. I must admit - it's a pretty impressive looking place. Kind of reminded me of a small country club. Very nice wood work inside and a HUGE bar right in the middle of the place. Anyway, sat myself at the bar, ordered a pint of beer and asked for a menu. Browsing through the menu that had quite a few tasty sounding items, all typical fare for an Irish style pub. I saw clam chowder on the menu, which sounded like a good starter. So I only ordered the soup and would maybe order something else after the soup. Soup came. It looked delicious. I eat a spoonful and was surprised at the taste in my mouth - there was a sour taste to it. It almost seemed like there was sour cream mixed in with it. I've had New England style clam chowder many, many times in my life, and this folks would have to be the worst. I don't know - maybe there was just something wrong with it at that moment on that day. I ended up finishing the soup (I was hungry), all of the provided oyster crackers (to stifle the sour taste of the soup), and my beer. Paid and left. Considering that the "New England" style clam chowder was just not that good in an Irish Pub in Massachusetts, shame on you. -2 stars. However, I ended up coming back with a work associate a few days later, but ordering the fish and chips this time instead (along with a few pints). Absolutely delicious! Probably some of the BEST (and biggest) fish and chips I have ever had. The [bar] waitress was quite friendly and socially entertaining, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely return again (the next time I'm in Lexington) and try something else on the menu (and maybe a cup of the chowder again, just for verification purposes to determine that it just wasn't a bad day for chowder).

Reader Beware: This review is biased due to the close proximity of Waxy's to my place of business (directly across the street) and the fact that my current Yelp profile picture (me kissing the Stanley Cup) was recently taken here. While I frequent Waxy's for after work drinks and impromptu Stanley Cup showings, I don't eat here very often. Their food isn't great, but it isn't total crap either. It's Irish pub food. If you go there expecting 5 star cuisine then you need to seriously re-evaluate your life. The simple fact is that the beer is always cold, drinks are always mixed just right and particular bartenders will always remember your face and drink. Which, for someone like me who drinks something different every night, can pose a problem. Add to that their 2 tap tables that you can reserve and pour your own beer, and you've got yourself a pretty rad (yes, rad) little pub in the middle of Lexington. It is also important to note that as a female in her mid-20s, the constant stream of Airmen from nearby Hanscom Air Force Base is a much appreciated form of eye candy and occasional conversation. Both the service and the soldiers here have never disappointed.

Waxy's is what's up. I work at a grocery store down the road from this pub, and Waxy's has become the official unofficial watering hole of my co-workers and I. I'll be honest, sometimes it takes fifteen minutes to get a drink. Sometimes you just have to get up and go to the bar yourself. But all things considered, I do love this place and it serves it's purpose for me. I've never ever had food I didn't like here. One night I had two Manhattans and it was the most inebriated I had ever been in front of most of my co-workers present. It's just a quality place and I recommend the buffalo fries to you.

We are Herr sitting at the table during the US v Germany game and they couldn't be more I'll prepared. Out of the four orders we placed 3 were wrong and very late. the wait staff was trying the best they could but the hostess was clueless. I/we won't be coming back.

Went here for lunch a few weeks ago, and was impressed. The place as a cool look inside, and the food is good too. Not sure on the bar situation, since I was there for a work lunch. The prices were OK I guess, and the waitress we had that day want very good. Still 4 start worthy minus the service though!

Just went to a function in the Upstairs Bar. Service was average and the food was awful. Gordon Ramsay would have spat it out. The sad thing is that it's a pretty spacious space. Too bad the service ended the night with this goodbye: "What!? You're group is still here!? It's over!!" Should have a camera rolling but wouldn't want to waste the battery.

Kind of a homely bar/restaurant spot. Lots of space to lounge, eat and drink. I was very into the live music on Saturday night. I was not into the last call and lights on at 12 midnight ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! But I guess that's expected because it's Lexington and not a big city bar. Very cool they put blueberries in my blueberry ale (!!), not cool that I felt I was being watched/stared at because I don't look like the normal clientele (ahem I'm not white) and lastly the darts were fun at least...okay spot for a local watering hole.

This place is right down the road and we rarely go. The menu was just updated and it's awful. Someone was drinking while they came up with it. When we have gotten good it's been wrong. It's an awful spot to watch sports. Still packs out though being one of the few bars in town. Not a terrible place to drink. But avoid the food

HORRIBLE attitude! Will never return. 30 or so co-workers went over for farewell drinks and food for a co-worker. We were all hanging around 2 of the hi-top tables near the bar. The place was pretty empty! I ordered close to $300.00 in appetizers for the group - those were placed on one of the tables with a stack of napkins. Guess it really is finger food. 3 of us sit at an empty table right next to our group and by that i mean less than 2 feet away. We all were having drinks but the GM told us we could not sit there that he "gave us the 2 tables". Well I beg to differ - I PAID for those tables by giving you close to $1,000.00 in sales of food and beverage. We were forced to get up from the little table. I counted 16 EMPTY TABLES so it was not like there was a wait. He should be ashamed of himself for treating ANY customer in that manner let alone someone who spent close to $1000.00. Too bad for them our office is located right at the end of their driveway but we will NEVER RETURN. GM SUCKS and ruined it for them! I am sure Margarita's will appreciate our business!!!

The food was nothing special. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go back just to get it. I would go back for atmosphere. The pizza and meatloaf got good reviews at our table. The clam chowder was the best I have had in a long time. The bangers in my bangers and mash were ok but the gravy was as thin as water. But the waitress was very good. I enjoyed the decor. I also enjoyed that the tables were spread out and you didn't have to compete with neighboring tables just to hear the people at your table.

Met a friend for lunch on a Tuesday. We sat at the bar and service was prompt and courteous. Ordered a Guinness along with the Dagwood sandwich. Reuben sandwich with pastrami. Generous amount of tasty meats and not too much dressing which I prefer. Bread was thick and toasted to perfection. Came with fries and choice of soup or salad. I chose the soup which was beef vegetable. Very tasty and a nice start to the meal. Definitely recommend and adding to my go to spots.

Aside from the REALLY bad Karoke going on, it was a good time. The wait staff was a little slow but the food was good. Still not sure why they put us by the karoke stage an hour before that started and didn't tell us.

It was the worst service I've ever gotten at a restaurant (especially when it wasn't even busy). We sat at pub tables, had to wait 20 minutes or more between drinks. We ordered two orders of messy nachos and had no silverware. I asked for plates that never came. Silverware was delivered 15 minutes after our main course was delivered. They also forgot one of the orders - it arrived 15 minutes after everyone else's food was delivered. There are much better pubs around. I would never go back. I don't blame the waitresses. I blame the management for not staffing correctly.

Awesome, spacious. A fantastic place to grab brunch or dinner. I live for the Irish BLT. Delicious butter toasted bread with lettuce, tomato, Irish Bacon and blue cheese mayo. Very light and tasty. Might as well also have a pint of Guinness!

Stopped in on a Tuesday night based on a recommendation from the hotel staff where I was staying about 5 minutes away. The restaurant seemed to be quite large, and we were seated immediately considering the crowd was quite small that night. The food was good and was reasonably priced, and the staff was beyond friendly.

We went on Sunday afternoon - live Irish music was a lot of fun. The ambience is like an Irish pub - dark wood, comfortable tables and chairs. Large bar. Food: Home made potato chips are awesome. We ordered the Irish Nachos - they were a huge pile of home made chips, with melty gooey cheese, bacon, red onion, tomato and scallions. They were hot and delicious. I got the Reuben - thick cut marble rye, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, Thousand Island, and of course corned beef. It was disappointing. The corned beef, which is supposed to be the star, was thick cut, dry, chewy and inedible in some pieces. I had to de-construct the sandwich by pulling out quite a bit of the corned beef. For an Irish pub and restaurant, it was extremely disappointing. My wife got the chicken wings - she loved the garlic parmesan wings. I give it three stars based on the wings and the chips. I'll never order a Reuben again.

This place sucks. We come here because it's so close. But damn...They mess up our order every time. The food is abysmal. The stew is repulsive. The only thing good is the nachos. However, be warned. There are two kinds of nachos, Irish and something else. I unknowingly ordered the "something else" and the meat was like a cross between cat food and sloppy joe mix. It left a throw up taste in my mouth. Oh yeah, I don't want to leave out one of the few shining lights at this dump. They DO have Guinness on tap...too bad they can't even poor that right.

    When we walked in, we were seated immediately by a somewhat non friendly host. It wasn't too busy or noisy, as it was a weeknight. Our waitress came shortly after to get our drink order...she came back with them, walked away. She didn't come back for a good 10 minutes. (Could she really have forgotten about us?!). FINALLY she took our order. Was out in a reasonable amount of time, maybe 15 minutes. I got vegetable soup and fried calamari. The calamari was alright. The batter could have been better, fish could've been juicier, and the whole dish could have been a bit warmer. I won't complain much though; it was fairly cheap. Again, service is nothing to brag about. I've sat at the bar in the past, and like it more. I suggest this place if you're here to get drinks, not so much for ;

  • Mike C.

I like Waxy's. It is what it is. It's a bar first and and restaurant second. Know that and you'll be good. Food if viewed in that light is better then most bars! Drinks are not cheap, but they're in Lexington. What is? It's an after work or lunch spot, so pretty quiet on weekends. But they have live music and if you check the schedule it's pretty good. Also, they have catering events upstairs, we had my work party here one year. Biggest drawback is the parking -- if it's busy use free valet or park across street.

This is a SOLID three star review. I like this place. The food is good, but average. The beer selection is pretty good. I can't bring myself to give it 4 stars, but really don't hesitate if you're in the area. It's a solid meal and good beer.

Been here a few times with friends to watch the game. It's an absolutely terrific environment. Comfortable seating, generous space for group activity. I hate Irish style bars that are cramped. this is NOT one of them. The wings are terrific and the beer on tap is limited but still a quality selection. Great place to checkout if you're young or old .

Went here Sunday night 6PM with 16 fiends and it was 20% full. I called to that have them set up some tables for us, which they never did till we got there. We were seated after a 5 minute wait by a somewhat non friendly host, never gave us her name. It wasn't too busy but it was very noisy since the game was on. They only assign 1 waitress for all 16 of us so drink and food order took forever. The food was ok but nothing special or great and the $12 burger was not worth $12. One of us got a veggie pizza cover in an 1" of cheese which looked terrible. Also I of our party wanted a glutton free menu and they could not help her. So their service I'd say was bad to terrible. Also the bar and manger was rude to us as we had came for the free pool on Sunday which was a joke only 2 pool tables and you had to win again whoever was on it to use it. I can with 16 friends and we could not play pool together which ruined our night. The 2 dart boards sucked and they had only 1 useable dart for use which also was a joke. This is the worst place I have ever been to in my life and I would NOT recommend anyone eat or hang out here. If I could give this place -5 stars I would

Interesting idea of having beer taps in center of the table. Ate burger at bar. Seemed to have upset barmaid - never came back or checked in. Food was good, dart boards are is trashed.

  • Erica F.

This place has that nice warm pub feeling you would expect. However the bar staff is something to be desired. Not only did they all seem miserable but slow. Maybe if they actually engaged with the guest instead of hanging out in the middle of the bar socializing with each other our experience would not have been so bad. I don't mind waiting for a drink when the bartenders are helping others but it's annoying waiting for a drink when they are standing around doing nothing. These particular set of bartenders had no personality and came a crossed as it was annoying to get you a drink. It's a shame for such a nice place.

We visited this place for lunch today. The waitress was friendly in a natural way. I ordered the chicken bacon cheddar burger lunch special and I thought that it was made well. The chicken breast was juicy and the entire burger wasn't too salty or greasy. The sweet potato fries were pretty good too.

Never again, unless it's for drinks only. Met some work friends here after work Friday night. The place was very loud (although there didn't seem to be that big of a crowd). The drinks were great, our waitress was good too. However the food - how does this place stay open? We shared an order of potato skins. Tasteless, and served cold. We also shared a burger, while the burger was good the bun was cheap and not fresh. The fries served with the burger were tasteless, cold and soggy. Really, how does this place stay in business? Management needs to wake up to the horrible food they are serving.

I have been to Waxy O'Connor's in Keene, NH and was pleasantly surprised that there was one near where I live. I went there with a friend last night. The atmosphere was as I expected; but, the food and service was not that great. Let's start with the service. When we arrived, it took awhile to get seated because the hostess had no sense of urgency. She was slowly putzing around. She seated the people ahead of us and then slowly walked to the stand and asked us how many we were and then I asked sit in the bar area. She warned us that the table was wet and asked if that was ok... um dry it? We went to the table. I went to the bathroom and came back to see that we at least had waters. It was then at least another 5 minutes (maybe more) before we saw the waitress again. When she finally arrived, she asked for our drink order and we said that we were ready to order everything. We ordered 3 appetizers (shrimp wrapped in bacon, wings, calamari) and one salad (strawberry fields). In a few minutes, the drinks came and then not too much longer and the shrimp, calamari and salad arrived. Ten minutes or more later, we flagged down the waitress and asked if she could bring the wings. She didn't apologize or explain why they weren't there. She simply said "ok i can go get them." We never saw her again and had to actually go to the bar to ask for our check and then flag her down to take our card and let us settle the bill. She was definitely invisible. We were trying to get home and were there for at least a half hour longer than needed because we were waiting on her the whole time. Now onto the food. The salad was great (but would be hard to mess up). We were pleasantly surprised by the candied walnuts on the salad. I think the menu just said walnuts. This salad is simple and something I could easily make at home; but, it was good. The wings were awesome; but, I already knew this would be the case. We got the wasabi-terryaki wings and weren't able t taste any wasabi; but, they were still delicious! The shrimp sounded far better on the menu than it actually was. The cajun spices were good but the bacon was way over cooked and the dipping sauce was not so great... personal preference I think. The calamari was also just ok; as, it was very greasy. For us to leave half of it there says something. I never leave calamari behind!

Okay, officially my favorite place to stop and have a beer. These guys are phenomenal. Food is fair fare. Not a five star dining place, but the best three star food fo sho! Greatest bar staff and wonderful table service. BTW, go ahead and sit at your own damn tap and serve it like you want it! This is truly where everyone knows your name! Come ride the Irish Bull!

I wish I could give ZERO stars. I'm actually still sitting in the restaurant. I can't even wait to get home. Presently here with coworkers. The majority of the staff with whom we interacted have been very rude. The waitress takes the cake. Did not introduce herself, simply yelled at us "what do you drink?" Very very very rude. Was not cordial at all. When she took out orders, she simply, and literally, pointed at us and said "Go!" She slammed plates down and was very short and curt with us. I would never come back here, even to have just a beer. This bill will be the last money I spend here, and I suggest you don't even waste your time. The food. Bland. Flavorless. The fries resemble Mcdonalds fries that have been microwaved. My buddy got a burger and when he tried to ask for it well done, the waitress retorted angrily that "it only comes one way"

Food edible. Atmosphere comfortable. Cons bartender mixed wrong drink. Waitress served it and didn't even realize it was wrong til we brought it to her attention. Sprite soda versus coca cola for mix drink. She politely did not know why incorrect drink was mixed and offered to exchange it. Nonetheless my husband accepted it. Short while later dinner arrived for one, not two my husbands entree. I ordered one of their pizzas with no pepperoni add sausage or hamburger as one of their meats on other pizzas. Waitress advises my pizza just had sauce and cheese on it. Cook said we don't have that pizza. Waitress went back to kitchen and advised cook to add the hamburger as on other pizza on menu. About 5 minutes later I get my sloppy pizza with fried hamburger with no flavor, flooded with olive oil and tomato sauce. Only tasty good thing about pizza was the crust. My husbands steak entree and baked potato was excellent! Service :(

So feeling the St. Patricks day spirit - what better place to go than an Irish Pub. Housed in the old Hartwell house building ( with the Pond out front) just outside the gates to Hanscom field, we found this to be a delightful place to get a bite to eat, a refreshing pint of Guiness, or you choice of several other beverages, and a bit of Irish Pub Food. I Had a classic Reuben on Marble Rye, my partner opted for a traditional bacon cheeseburger. As an appetizer we had Ultimate Nachos which feature Waxys Crisps which are vinegar potato chips (available sepe rately with onion dip) which are kind of like thick cape cod chips- and to die for. Fascinatingly the bar has four tables , one in each corner with seating for four with their own taps- bud light and Guiness. The waitress turns on the taps and as Jackie Gleason used to say , "Away we Go Norton!" Waxy's serves traditional Irish fare, salads, sandwiches, flatbread pizzas and entrees, and has an extensive beer and drink menu. The pub, located at 94 Hartwell Ave., offers darts and pool tables, plus live shows and karaoke nights. Gave it only four stars but could very easily been inclined for five-maybe next time. (one of the ways i can always tell if the place is great is that we are discussing what we will get next time as we drive away lol. Great place try it!

This is my local hangout! Great for grabbing a drink after work or catching a game. The bartenders are super friendly and fun and I always prefer to sit at the bar. The food is good, but its mostly your average bar food (some with an Irish twist). My favorites are the shephards pie, the chicken tenders or the Asian chicken salad and of course dollar burger Tuesdays. There's always some sort of entertainment whether its live music, trivia, pool, or the new dart boards. An overall good place to hang out.

Yeah, not so good. I ordered a chicken caesar salad and a beer after a round of golf. The beer was cold and good. (But it's beer, so that's not too hard.) My "grilled chicken," however, was somewhere between plastic and rubber. Nice atmosphere, though. Spacious, comfortable, and very clean bathrooms. Still, it's a restaurant. The food should be way better.

Hands down the best place to get a beer in the area. I love this place. The have a pretty decent draft beer menu and their apetizers are awesome. I highly recommend the buffalo fries...they will knock your socks off! The weight staff can be a little slow later at night but I recommend just ordering directly from the bar. Live music is nice but can be loud when you want to just sit and chat. Pleanty of TV's to watch games around the bar. Big fan of the pool tables as well which are often open when I get there. All in all if you want a relaxed atmosphere or a place to watch the game and just hang out, this is a good bet!

I have been in town a week and avoided coming here because of the rating. I drove by and this place is HUGE, beautiful, and the parking lot was full. So I read the reviews and went for it. The food is traditional Irish or good food with and Irish twist. They had an amazing beer selection, Irish whisky, and Scotch. I was asked by 2 different wait staff if I needed anything, the food was quick, and yummy. They have live music on Thurs and with the business of the restaurant I had great service. It was a bit noisy for a family, but if your Irish your loud anyway. Great find and great place. Coming back on my next business trip for sure!

I grew up in the area so my review could be skewed. Over all this location is cursed. It has changed hands several times over the years and with the most recent establishment being Waxy O"Connors. A group of us decided to grab drinks/food on a Friday night and I had high hopes as the area needs a good "gastro-pub". Unfortunately Waxy's falls short. This place is a concept bar. At most Waxy's is confused suburban version of "The Kells" in Brighton. The food is average and while there are a few cool concepts (tables with individual kegs, dart boards and billards) it is nothing I would frequent often. Maybe it is because I am in my 30's but the music was too loud and the beers on tap were just lacking any interest. I was hoping to see stuff like Pretty Things, Harpoon or something unique. While our server was good the staff behind the bar was either understaffed or having a bad day. I really hoped they would be able to break the locations curse but my gut says different.

Waxy's is a great place to hang out at after work for a beer and some grub. Food is decent enough for bar food, good beers on tap and friendly bar tenders. This place is really what you make out of it. A very chill setting/environment with dim lit bar and restaurant area, live music, pool, darts. The price is fair for the area and quality of service. They have these cool tables where there is a tap in the hull of the table and you serve yourself right there at the table. Thought that was pretty neat! Check it out if you're ever in the Lexington area, great place!

Have you ever been at dinner and the only thing you can think about is "I can't wait to get home and write a review on yelp?" Well this was one of those times, and it wasn't a good review that I was eager to write. Okay, lets first start off with what pissed me off in the beginning. We arrive a little after 8. Guy tells us it will be a 20-25 minute wait. Alright. That's fine with us. My boyfriend grabs a beer from the bar and we hang out relatively close to the hostess stand. After waiting, I start thinking "Man it feels like its been longer than 20 minutes" and I look at the time and it is 9 o clock. I ask my boyfriend to go check to see how much longer. He goes up to the hostess stand to question how much longer. Our name is still on the list. There are names after ours crossed off. He is told by a girl "I'll go find you guys a table." No apology. No explanation as to why we were waiting so long. Nothing. So she walks us to the back behind the bar where all the tables are and 1/2 of the tables are freaking empty. So why were we waiting for 45 minutes? So at this point, I'm fuming and can barely even concentrate on the menu, but I pull it together to find something to order. I order the Chicken Pot Pie and my boyfriend gets the Shepherds Pie. The food comes out relatively fast, or at least it seemed that way compared to the time we were waiting for a table. Well lets just say that the food did not save my mood. My Chicken Pot Pie (though I'm not even sure I could appropriately call it a pot pie) was absolutely horrible. It was basically a bowl of gravy and peas, with about 5 chunks of chicken, and 2 chunks of carrot, and then a piece of flakey bread resting on top. My boyfriend's Shepherds Pie was simply okay. It was more edible than my pot pie, but we wouldn't have a desire to ever eat it again. The table service wasn't the best either. I don't think our waitress stuck around at our table longer than 2 seconds at a time, most of the time she just dropped something off AS she was walking. I will never step foot back into this place again, and whenever I hear anyone talking about it, I will advise them not to go here either. Maybe it's okay for just a night at the bar, however spare yourself for dinner.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I usually do not post anything, but the food and the service was so bad I felt like I needed to say something. The wait staff is terrible. The waitress was not helpful whatsoever. She forgot a salad for the table and did not apologize, did not say anything but "oh I miss counted" then walked off and she was rude. The Panini's were all cold when we finally got our food 1 hr 15 mins later. The food is bland, there's no taste. I have tasted cafeteria food that is better than that. The food is way over priced for the quality. Even the key lime pie was terrible. To add to the overall terrible meal experience, there were about 4 flies that kept flying around and landing in our food. Also, if you have large parties STAY AWAY! They refused to split our check for 10 people saying that it was too difficult to do and when we got the bill there was 20% gratuity added to it. THAT IS 20% TOO MUCH for the service that we got! I will never go to Waxy's again unless the wait staff is changed and the head chef. This was one of the most unpleasant lunch experiences I have ever had. DO NOT go here for lunch unless you have 2 hrs to waste, you don't like food and you like to be treated poorly!

Go to Waxy's if you enjoy being an afterthought for frrrrrumpy young hostesses engrossed in conversation. It won't matter, of course, if you're there to drink, hang out, and watch a game because that's when you'll eat anything. Skip it altogether for lunch unless you want to have my experience: unremarkable food and slooooow service. My son ordered a chicken and cheddar panini that was completely bland; something you might find at a hospital cafeteria. After a couple of bites, he sent it back and exchanged it for a corned beef and Swiss sandwich that was not a Reuben. We had that wrapped to go. I ordered the Caprese salad with medium rare steak tips (that didn't turn out too badly) and, 40 minutes or so after ordering, I had to ask what was taking so long. The waitress told me they were working on the steak tips and I had to remind her that I ordered medium-rare, not well done (thank heavens I didn't have to rush back to the office). For dessert, we split a Turtle cheesecake that was as boring as everything else. I don't know what the problem is but, with so many dining options, this isn't where I'll go back to eat unless I'm desperate or ever have one too many and anything will do. However, I doubt I'll go that far out of the way for merely mediocre. Waxy's appearance and after-work crowds belie the quality of their food. Final verdict: this is nothing more than a big saloon with a kitchen. Enjoy your alcohol revenues!!!

Was in the area for business and ended up going to Waxy's several times with colleagues. It was very convenient to where we were staying, and the food was good. Although the service wasn't as good, I didn't mind returning on several consecutive days as it was better than average pub food. It was always relatively busy, which is usually a good sign. The best dish I had was the shrimp and penne in vodka sauce. I also had the fried calamari, burger, buffalo chicken pizza, mussels, and chicken wings, all of which were good. I did end up ordering the chocolate cake several times, as it was gooey, warm, and delicious. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Waxy's, but given that I was stuck in the area, it was not bad at all.

Wish I could give it 0 stars. Horrible service. HORRIBLE SERVICE. On a very busy Saturday lunch, there was only ONE waiter. There were two bartenders sitting on there thumbs playing with themselves, not helping at all. When we asked them for a refill (we had to goto the bar since the waiter was slammed) - they gave us an attitude, and didn't even help out the waiter to bring the drinks to our table. Jerks. Sounds like this place is exactly what Lexington needs. However, they need to get there act together, or Lexington is going to need another place. I would avoid.

The second star is only because we went their for my dear friend's birthday. And given we were with fabulous friends it wasn't SO bad. That said...between the 1 1/2+ wait for a table, the dirty dishes all over the bar, and food that was passable-I'm not sure where to start. Ok let me try something positive...the restaurant is huge & the decor is really nice. There. I said something nice. Oh and there was a pool table & darts.

At 8:00 on a Friday night this huge bright green "pub" was packed with young professionals - majority were guys watching sports and drinking beer. A scene more common in the city but nice for people who work in the offices nearby. We waited in relative comfort, enjoying our beers, for a half-hour for a table for four. Our waitress seemed focused on rushing us through the meal, asked if we wanted drinks while we drank the beers we'd ordered at the bar. So we doubled up. The food arrived quickly, and the waitress was back even faster while I was still eating my main course. She started to take away my plate! I appreciate fast service when ordering drinks at the bar but servers should know to change gears at meal time. My salmon panko with garlicky sinach and savory crisp squash was surprisingly fantastic. Perfectly cooked. Well done Waxy. The server rushed us to our dessert order so I had chocolate cake (fair) with the beer I was still drinking. No water or other beverages offered. Didn't like that Waxy. It is a bar and it was loud. During our meal there was live Irish music (a couple guys playing) and the constant roar of bar talk. It was a little hard to hear but reminded us old farts of the days before marriage and kids. Around 9:30 somebody turned the music system up so loud that it was distorted. That was unfortunate and stupid. At that point it was hard just to sit in the place because the distortion was so uncomfortable to bear. So that got us up and movin' out. On our way out, we passed inspection by the bouncer, who seemed to be closely observing inebriation levels. Maybe tell that waitress not to double up the beer orders, eh?

They've done a great job with the fit out......the bar is pretty nice, and they even have a few pool tables. As someone else pointed out - they do have potential. The place was jamming....and it's a great place to meet for drinks....great place to kick back and enjoy a drink. The dining service is very slow and they're not properly trained. They're nice, if that counts - but this seemed to be true with all the tables - you have to be prepared to wait. We didn't see a manager walk the floor once.... The food. Well the app selection isn't the best. If you're looking for something to share it really leaves you with seafood spinach dip or chix wings. The dip was actually pretty good and came with some good chips....but not sure how healthy it was. They don't have a lot of healthy alternatives....the food is pretty heavy - that seemed to have a lot of sodium. The sides you get to choose from is also limited, so you better like peas and if you want potatoes, forget about it being baked. No steamed veggies either, it's fried potatoes. I ordered the squash expecting it to be a healthier option, but it was cubed and fried.....it was good, but again very, very heavy....I didn't feel so well after we finished.....I probably won't go back.

Two stars for the beef stew tasting pretty good. VERY slow service. Also despite the stew tasting good, I'm pretty sure it made me sick. After we left I felt like there was a brick in my stomach for the next 10 hours. I doubt we'd go back. Don't look online at the menu for Foxboro and expect it to be the same as the Lexington one. This one has a much smaller menu, seems like they're trying to appear "upscale". No keno in the bar either. I doubt I'll go back.

The male host who worked on Saturday the 24th should not be a host. First of all he never said hello or looked up from what he was doing (looking at the table configuration chart confused) and we were the only people at the hostess stand. Then a waitress approached him and they had an argument right there in front of us. After that he just started to walk away and said "I'll be right back". He looked pissed off, messy and unshaven and when he came back he just grabbed some menus and told us to follow him. My gf and I just looked at each other like "oh no what did we just walk into". After he sat us we watched as he half heartedly clean the tables next to ours. He only cleaned half the table (leaving crumbs behind) and the crumbs he did remove from the table he brushed onto the booth seat and left them there. The area we were seated in was to the left of the bar in a little square section with tables, and there were about 15 people standing in there drinking and talking. For a second I thought they were all together- because they were all jammed in a little area- but they were not. Regardless...there were people standing all around our table which meant that I felt crowded and we could barely hear each other speak. Mind you there was a large section of open tables in an area that was not crowded so another cudos to the host for that. To make matters worse our server (the same one who was arguing with the host) took 15 minutes to come to our table. Maybe it was because she couldn't see us through the crowd or maybe because she was still pissed off...I don;t know. I got the feeling that the place was poorly managed so that is probably why she was upset to begin with. Once she came, the service was prompt and friendly (I must admit). The food was over priced, mediocre pub food at best and there were flies bothering us throught the meal (probably from all the crumbs on the seats). The bar itself is decent. It's a nice dark wood and has seating all around it. There is a cozy section that has a fireplace (but we didn't get to experience that) and they have a pool table and keg tables in another section- which makes for a fun / party atmosphere. There is nothing interesting to look at as far as decor but that's par for the course for any so so pub so although it has potential, the place really doesn't have any character. Like it was built by comittee instead of by a person with a heart and soul. The whole time we were there we watched as one of the bartenders socialized with her friends and completely igniored the other people who wanted drinks at the bar. I suggest sitting near one of the male bartenders if you want service. Then there is the goon at the front door ie: security?? He was about as friendly as a skin rash. We saw him when he walked in and he never greeted us so I thought he was just waiting to leave but when he was still standing there when we left I realized he worked there. If you are going to stand there all night, the least you can do is open the door. All in all it was the staff who ruined our visit. I suggest if you do go there, just order drinks (or use the keg tables) and play pool but it's in no mans land so on second thought...don't bother. It's not worth it. We won't be back. My guess is it will be closed in a year or two.

Looks great inside, though the staff is flustered and disorganized. They are clearly overwhelmed by the huge pop they got on their first Friday. The staff at the bar I worked at in college could have run CIRCLES around them, we had nights with as crowd 5-6 people deep at the bar with 4 bartenders and a bar back and we FLEW, got everyone what the wanted. This crew of 3-4 bartenders and a bar back was SLOOOOW, but nice I gotta say, they were palpably overwhelmed. They'll get better as they get more used to it. It took us about 20 minutes to get any service at the bar, one of the bartenders took about 5 minutes at the computer to put in each order (she's obviously getting used to the computer system). The staff was trying to get a football game on for the folks sitting next to us, it took them a while but it seemed like they did everything they could to make it happen. Still, pretty good selection of big label, import and faux microbes beers (no real microbrews, maybe Shipyard if you consider them "micro"). The food is above-average to good bar food, nothing super creative but seemingly well made. I had the sliders and they came out HOT and delicious. My wife got the chicken fingers, they were good, nothing special (not getting creative on chicken fingers doesn't score or lose them any points, they're chicken fingers). The prices were reasonable too, which is nice. As the night went on and the crowd died down, we got more and more personalised service as the bar staff had time to pay attention to us. The bartender Corrine (sp?) is a nice lady, she took good care of us. The pool tables are good looking and busy. Crowd skews middle-aged but there are some 20/30-somethings. I gotta say, the renovations are beautiful, the old glass wine cellar that was in the Hartwell House has been turned into a cool glass walk-in fridge where they store the kegs. I give it an OK so far, I predict it will get better. Ignore the pissy reviews, who expects perfection in the first WEEK? This place is too well capitalized to fail because of cold food and slows first week service. Check em out tonight (12/17). So far as the menu being smaller than the Foxboro location, what do you expect, its a smaller, suburban oriented location, not a restaurant in a billion dollar real-estate development. This is what this area needed, a nice bar located OUTSIDE the orbit of the Burlington Mall with good food, good drink, fun for the family early in the night, and fun and possibly even dancing late at night (one of the dining areas looked like it could be cleared out for dancing and the stereosystem CRANKED their, gotta give 'em points for that).

Slooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww service. Walked out once after being seated for a half an hour with no attention from a waitress. Sitting at the bar is good. Food is generic "Irish pub" fare. Guinness is poured perfectly... Only reason to go back.

Waxy's is an Irish pub located on Hartwell in Lexington so it is close to a lot of businesses in the area. We went with a large group of coworkers after work for drinks and dinner. The beer selection was average. The bartenders were quick. However, most of the tables in the bar area are reserved for dinner, so there is no gathering place if you go with a group of people. A small group stayed for dinner. I got a margarita pizza and enjoyed it. It's a good meeting place for after work with average to good food pub style food.

First, loved the private area for the dual pool tables and dart boards. The place was clean, and the bar was busy and BIG...perfect for a pub! The dining area was a bit slow, and seemed understaffed the night we went. When the waitress finally came to our table, she was very courteous and attentive. I can't say too much about the food other than the sandwich my friend got was perfect, but their spin on a Chicken Pot Pie was not creamy, not loaded with chicken...and very disappointing. I'll try their other meals, but probably will stick to their sandwich/apps for a while until I get to see their other dinner presentations. Other: Lots of parking; wheelchair accessible; easy to find.

I seriously wish I could give this place ZERO stars. I don't even understand why it's still in business. I know it's my own fault for going back to Waxy's but there aren't many "pubs" on the north shore. But this last time I went, will DEFINITELY be my last. I wouldn't even write another review about it, but the experience that I had needs to be noted. In short, we sat at the bar and ordered beers and buffalo tenders. The buffalo tenders came out and after my boyfriend had eaten about 3 of them he decided to look at the center and realized that they were completely raw! We told the bartender and he didn't seem overly surprised that this had happened. He said he was going to make us a new batch even though we really didn't want them. The thing that really made me mad was then he never came back and never took the gross, raw chicken away from the bar. I had to put it all together and give it to a different bartender about 20minutes later. After about 45minutes, and the new batch of tenders haven't come out, we asked for the check. The bartender noticed the tenders hadn't come out yet and said..."let me go get them". We said we didn't want them anymore and he said that he'll wrap them up for us to take home. THEN...we get the bill....THE RAW CHICKEN TENDERS WERE STILL ON THE BILL! I think back on the situation and I can't believe I didn't say anything. Probably because my boyfriend was there and I know he would have told me not to make a big deal about it. Next day, boyfriend goes to work, takes the "new" tenders with him, heats them up, cuts into one, and THEY ARE RAW TOO! Unbelievable! This place needs a Bar Rescue!

Know where you are and enjoy it accordingly. I have always had good service at the bar. I wish the beer selection was better but dig the fries and onion rings and I appreciate a good fun place to hang out.

The atmosphere is beautiful-bar and fireplace a definite plus. BUT if youre looking for authentic Irish Fare, stear clear. I agree that there are 2-3 items that classify under "Irish" but they werent great. The bangers & mash- sausages completely undercooked! Probably because it arrived at our table 6 mins after we ordered. Same goes for the shepards pie-edible but bland. Great place for a drink or catching a game but no points for the pub fare.

Awesome place to enjoy regional brews. Also, a great place to enjoy free pool and free darts. For those located at Hanscom AFB, its approximately a half mile from the Hartwell gate.

I wanted something different for dinner. We had been to Waxy's before to meet up with friends for drinks before so I thought - why not give this place a shot? We started with drinks - the for apps my friend ordered a bowl of soup. The soup was SO salty she could not even eat it. We ordered fried pickles which were literally disgusting. The fried part was not even cooked. We waited forever to get our dinner. I can even get past the food being not so great if the service was top notch - but it was not. The waitress barely even acknowledged us, only to bring us the apps, and dinner. She didnt come back once to ask "how is everything" - overall bad service.

I had a very pleasant dinner on a laid back Monday night. The Irish nachos were a nice twist on classic bar food; they used thick cut potato chips instead of the usual corn chips and salsa. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. The beer battering on the fish had an excellent taste and crunch. The french fries were yummy. My one friend had a colorful looking pizza which she seemed to enjoy and my other friends had Rubens. The Rubens had real thick-cut slices of corn beef. Dessert was the best part! The PB&J Bomb is decadent take on the classic PB&J sandwich. The sandwich is made on nice thick bread and then fried and topped with vanilla ice-cream. It was a fun treat that was perfect for sharing. The portions are generous so we all got doggy bags. Don't expect to be served haute cuisine, but their pub fare is definitely above average. The staff was friendly and our server, Giancarlo, was really attentive and also not too hard on the eyes.

I'm so sad to see all of the lower rated reviews for Waxy's. I've been here with my office mates quite a lot for lunch and we've always had a wonderful experience. The bar area is amazing! It's one of the biggest bar areas I've ever seen and exceptionally beautiful. Service has always been amazing and fast for the lunch hour. We always sit at the bar so maybe it's slower when you sit at a table. I haven't been to dinner at Waxy's so can't comment on the service then. ZThis place is always packed, too. Love the decor, love the atmosphere and overall love Waxy's.

One of the worst irish pubs I've been to. Went to lunch with a bunch of friends and ordered beef stew. My food came back cold and it was disgusting. Most of my friends food was lukewarm to cold. They reheated my beef stew and it was bubbling - microwaved. Needless to say, I didn't eat it. My friend got his chicken soup after everyone else did - it's chicken soup. How did chicken soup end up being the last one served???? Also, we waited almost an hour for our food. Waitress was slow, manager didn't do the rounds and see how we were doing - for a business that just opened, thought this was weird. I would never go back here again.

Came here for lunch and had the fish sandwich. It was fried well enough, but the portion of fish to bread was way off. Like others have said the fries were soggy, and i'm not a fan of soggie fries. I like the beer selection, all your usualy suspects in an Irish joint, and the decor is good, but the food just failed to impress and I doubt I'll be back.

A little too big to be a typical Irish Pub but decent for the area it is in. Unfortunately the "regulars" seem to be suits working in the area. Not the typical feel you would get from a smaller pub in the city. Food is decent, portions good size. Beer selection is great. They also have a few tables with taps. Only a few beers at each and selection varies. Good if you have 4 or more in a party. I prefer a smaller pub like Tommy Doyles but if I'm in Lexington I'd go back.

Came in for a late lunch around 2 so it was pretty empty. Pretty decent lunch for a good price. I got the Reuben and it was solid. The beef was a bit on the chewy side for my tastes. The place has a great open set up. Really beautiful bar with plenty of seating. Seems like it might have some great potential in the evenings. We will give it a try soon and update!

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Went here the other night with a group of people for drinks. The waitress, if I dare call her that, was the worst and nastiest service person I've ever come across. Rudest. EVER. I think this place is ideal for wealthy businessmen, as it is located on the business-friendly Hartwell Ave. I think this place is also ideal for snotty Lexington people who have no problem paying $5.50 for a gin and tonic that is all tonic. I never plan on returning here, and I plan on warning others to stay away. I can't even relive the entirety of how bad this waitress was. and how terrible the drinks were. And how she put ALL 8 (yes 8) different tabs on one tab and then explained she couldn't split them for the 8 of us and we needed to figure out the bill ourselves. Nightmare.

Nice to find an Irish Pub in Lexington. Fun, lively atmosphere. The evening we went there was an Irish band playing which was fabulous. We had a wonderful attentive waitress and the food was very nice for pub fare. There is a great bar, a nice pool table and you can even play darts! Not your usual Lexington find, but it was a nice change. I would go back. My husband enjoyed his steak tips and potatoes, and my chicken dinner was very nice. Not gourmet, but nice. I only wish they served Irish bread....my only complaint is no bread while you wait. If they had nice hot Irish bread I would of left 4 stars.... We will go back.

Spacious, clean, kid friendly, convenient to Hanscom, nice selection of beers and apps, decent menu (Shepherd's Pie not bad). Overall, a good place to go for a beer and a satisfying meal after work when you don't feel like cooking at home. If you're from out of town and staying in the local area, highly recommend Waxy's over that travesty of a Mexican "restaurant" just down the road (Margaritas). . .

Waxy's is fine for an afternoon of decent beer, but there's nothing much to speak of besides that. The bar looks nice and it's usually easy to find seating. The food is mediocre and the wait staff seem to be overwhelmed by what is a relatively small amount of traffic. They are usually very slow, whether at tables or the bar. Definitely could use some work on the service front. I don't expect much to change though because they are one of the few games in town on the edge of Lexington.

I think this place is good!!!!! If only they had faster service, I would rate it higher. Don't listen to the people that say the food sucks or the drinks aren't good or the price is expensive. These are biased reviews. Trust me, go there on a Saturday or Sunday and if you are lucky, you will get a good waitress and it won't be so bad. Honestly, it's a dead center of nowhere location in Lexington. What the hell would you expect???

Was here a few weeks ago with a crowd on a weekend night, had apps set up in one area of the bar and a waitress that was friendly. The apps were bland, and the drinks were poor. I'd ordered a martini, and two of the people in our group had to try three times to get a vodka tonic and G&T with actual fizz in the tonic. The bartender snippily told someone in our party that she wouldn't take drink orders directly from us, we had to wait for our server.

The food is okay at best - if you're starving. And the service is terrible! Very slow! First time we went, the service was very slow, so we thought it was an off night, we tried again and the service was still slow. We gave it a break for a while and figured we'd try once more. Nope, still slow! We waited 20 minutes just for our appetizer and there were only a handful of tables. It wasn't busy at all. Oh yeah, the food was cold! but by that point we were starving! There was one point were the waitress was fast: when it was time for the check, she was right there! I will never go back.

Our server Katie was great! The hostess, Maggie, wasn't frumpy at all! They both had a great sense of humor. Beer selection was good but may need to be augmented with a few more local brews. We had a few apps which were pretty good. Steak tips were fair but a little on the cool side.

Just a great night. Four of us sat at the bar. Corrine took great care of us. Chicken wings, both buffalo and barbeque were delicious. Steak tips were a hit as was the veggie pizza. The biggest hit was the pork chops with apple and onion chutney. A fabulous time. Come enjoy yourself.

Service was OK. My sons got carded as soon as they walked thru the door then at the table again, what's the point? Except to piss you off! Food selection is minimal, food was not that good based on price. Wouldn't go back unless they change alot.

I don't know how many drinks that everyone has had but this place has to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. Applebee's is gourmet compared to this place. After the free valet parking guy pointed to a spot for us to park in (I guess valet translated into gaelic is point) we ambled in and were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table. The bar was full so we sat at a table next to it. A waitress ended up adopting us and told us we could stay there. We took her offer not knowing it was a training session and we were the trainers. After telling her how to spell Chevas and what it was we should have known, but being the trusting people that we are we gave her a shot. Things went downhill from there. entrees served with appetizers, appetizers served as entrees. If you want me to talk about the food I am not because it's not worth my time, come to think of it Waxy's is not worth anyones time unless you are just drinking and your blood alcohol level would have to be twice the legal limit because that is the only way you could tolerate this place.

Great environment, food, atmosphere, and cost. Wife is from Ireland and she felt at home except it was cleaner then the pubs in Ireland which was a plus. Guinness tasted good too....

We went there on a "Thirstday" night around 5:30pm. There were plenty of open spaces at the huge bar that sits in the center of the room. The decor is inviting and the atmosphere is friendly. I was pleased to see Harp on tap, and they seemed to be doing a brisk business with Guinness as well. My friend had been there once before and warned me that the food was "ok" but not great. I ordered the Reuben which is usually safe in a pub, and it was good ( next time, I will ask for extra Russian dressing on the side). We had a good time there, but the bar service was inexplicably slow. There were 3 or 4 bartenders rushing about but they never looked to see if you needed anything, like another beer... maybe they were busy filling table drink orders... the place started filling up around 6. By the time we left (7-ish) there were people waiting for our chairs at the bar. And the joint was jumping. I met another friend who was sitting at a table. He said the food was ok, but not great. So, I would definitely go there again to meet friends for drinks and burgers, but not to expect fine dining.

Great dining experience. Staff friendly and efficient. I have visited the Lexington and Foxboro locations and continue to return with friends and family. Try Waxy's you'll enjoy yourself.

After my previous post I heard back from the management. In the first place, I had indicated I had not heard anything for two weeks when in fact, it was only one week since I had written to him. When he did respond he had a perfectly reasonable explanation for the one week delay, which, had I realized it had only been a week I would not have posted to Yelp. So I apologize for having posted hastily. And, as he resolved the situation to my satisfaction, I would have to say that is all I can ask for.

Had lunch there today. They have a great luncheon menu with great prices. For only $10 you get your choice of sandwich, with soup or salad - garden or caesar, fries, and soda fountain drink or bottled water. I had a reuben, it was good, large size, i would give the side caesar 3 stars, ok, but i've had better, fries were good. My friend loved her chicken soup and the shepherd's pie looked great. Service was excellent. Would go here again.

I really like this pub for catching a game or hanging out for a drink. Beer selection is quite decent (especially for the area - let's face it folks, Lexington/Bedford isn't exactly pub-central). Bartending staff are also cool.

Ok, I gotta it back down to 3 stars here. Nothing particularly wrong with Waxy's, but nothing particularly great, either. Been for beers after work - they get some credit for the big bar and spacious layout. They lose a little for the lack of parking. The beer selection is not exciting - sad since Margarita's down the street has some great selections like Dogfish Head and Oskar Blues. Had some apps that were generic and bland. Second lunch there was this week - steak and cheese sammich. Nice that they offer soup or salad, but there's nothing special about either. My sandwich had decent beef, but meager onions and cheese, not even filling the boring crummy sub roll. The fish sandwich looked like a much better choice - maybe nex time. The good news, fries have improved since my last review.

Important to bear in mind that the previous three incarnations of this establishment were glorified function-halls. Easily 60% of the clientele is a constant influx from Hanscom AFB -- much more than that if attending event/retirement banquets, or simply boozing on weekends. I point this out only to standardize the landscape and expectations. Drinks are pricy, though the beer-and-whiskey selection isn't too shabby. Service is sub-par (slow, error-prone, attitude-laden). Most of the 'pub-style' food is mediocre at best; after some ill-fated experimentation, I've identified the Guinness Stew, Reuben sandwich, and Shepherd's Pie as the best (only?) candidates, and, truthfully, they're pretty good. So: I'll leave it at 2.5 stars, trending down (to 2) if you expect a fine dining experience, or up (to nearly-3) if you want a vaguely Irish-American outing with a few decent drinks. It wouldn't be a bad place for a 'three-martini lunch,' or a casual interview, or simply networking with colleagues, though the crowd gets boisterous as the night wears on...

Full of BS. They never deserve any business. Waitress thinks she is a queen or something. Only the Hanscom airbase people should go there since it is closer and only place near the field. Horrible food. Overpriced salads.

Service at the bar was very good. The food was passable. Stay away from the chicken pot pie unless you really love onions, there are more onions than chicken, carrots and peas combined. 50/50 on whether we will return or not.

Great atmosphere for a drink or a meal. Food was tasty, the service was fine, but the main selling points were the Irish setting with plenty of tvs and a large selection of beers.

Very noisy & crowded & I see why. Good food fun atmosphere. Bit of a 'meat market' however. The desperation at the bar was entertaining to watch. Ok prices

Why can't it be better? I just don't get it. First reviewed this place when it opened gave 2 stars. Such potential been several times and the food is awful got Mac & cheese which was really noodles with globs of cheese - couldn't even eat it. Thankfully the bartender took it off our bill. Tried it again with coworkers -sandwich (mozzarella) was good but fries cold place was full so I'm not sure how with this many people you can have cold fries. shame on us but we went again and this time my BF fish came raw ( raw batter) bartender looks says oh sorry let us buy you a dessert. I really don't understand how the food and most times serivce is so bad here. If you try and give feedback in-person they just don't seem to care. Or perhaps they are tired of hearing complaints ..... Don't order food here. Too many other great places to eat in the Lexington / Burlington / Waltham area

I can't comment on the food, hostess or waitstaff. However, the bartenders were very attentive last Saturday night. The first time I went to order a couple of drinks, the bartender saw me coming and waited at the bar until I got there to get my order. The second time, I stood there with my husband after we order drinks and two other bartenders (independently of each other) came by to see if we needed anything. The prices are average-- $13.50 for a Guinness and a pinot grigio. The bar is huge and nice to mingle in.

Overcooked burger, didn't like the fries, my friend had their 'nachos' - blah, they don't use corn chips! (In their defense they say this on the menu, but not good.) And the food was not cheap. At least they have an interesting beer selection.

I had the Cubano sandwich with fries. Not too many people there at lunch, but the food seemed to take a bit too long. Might give it another try.

I need to update my previous review after returning to try the entrees. Previously we enjoyed drinks and appetizers and found the beer selection limited but the appetizers just fine, but the entrees didn't hold up to a 4-star standard. All the entrees were overly salted. I ordered the steak tips, which is always a risky dinner choice in a pub restaurant. They came out huge, tough, and undercooked. If the meat isn't tender, then please cut'em up and make sure they're not raw in the center. Waxy O'Connor's was still fun, and they improved the beer selection a bit since last time, including one local microbrew selection. So I'd still go for drinks and apps after work, but for dinner I'll make plans elsewhere.

Had lunch at this Irish themed pub. Food was acceptable, good but not exceptional. Limited menu of fairly standard bar food. Had 20 beers on tap + more in bottles. Like the food, the beers were ordinary, nothing to go out of your way for.
