Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
For a chain they do alright...the food is decent, the bar crowd is local which is great and the bartenders remember faces and drinks. Its a good place to bring your kids as long as its not a Wednesday night when they have Beer Pong tournaments...really...I don't get it either...

I went on a Wednesday afternoon with my mother in law & her mother. I have to admit, when they said "How about Applebee's?" I kinda cringed & thought "CRAPPLEBEES UGH!" To my pleasant surprise, lunch was delicious! I had a shrimp pasta dish with spinach, artichokes, basil & tomatoes in a cream sauce & ate the whole thing. My mil & her mom also enjoyed theirs - baked haddock and a chicken and pasta dish. We tried the mini shot glass desserts & they were great too - just enough! Service was slow & there were not many meatless options other than grilled cheese, so lucky for me they had a few fish choices that were actually good. I really didn't expect to enjoy my shrimp as much as I did! Way to go Applebee's! Nice improvement! I hadn't been there in years & now I want to go back.

We went in after a bad experience at longhorn next door , so we were so frustrated walking in ( we walked out of longhorn never done that anywhere ) we were seated at the bar this time in hopes we would have, faster service .. So we sit down and right away we had what we wanted for drinks in front of us ! Our order was taken right away and the bartender was so nice .. We don't go to Applebee's much maybe 2 time in the past 12 years... That being said I will never go to longhorn leominster again and will always go to Applebee's in leominster... The service was outstanding and the food was good .. The price is reasonable and again service was amazing we went in on a Friday afternoon (1145 ish).. The bartender engaged in conversation and was by far one of the best bartenders in a chain I have seen , and you could tell she liked her job... Thanks for a wonderful experience and will be returning

I'm shocked to be doing this but yes, a chain receives three stars. I do my best to stay away from chains for multiple reasons: labor issues, food sourcing, and food quality. My husband enjoys chains for one of the principle reasons they exist: consistency. We were here for one reason: we were hungry and the local place we wanted to go to was closed for President's Day. I like to be surprised..and I was. Their tomato basil soup was very tomatoey and perfect for a cold winter's day. The accompanying sandwich was nothing to write home about (chicken wrapped in a poor excuse of a flour tortilla) but was perfect accompaniment to the soup. Not theta we've been today, we can go again in another, oh, ten years.

Haven't been here in a while. Looks like they painted and added TV's everywhere, cool. Seated right away and service was pretty quick for a busy Saturday. Her chicken wrap was great. My burger came out medium well though I asked for hockey puck (literally those words lol). Picture showed bacon on the burger but there wasn't any... was told it was 'baked in' when I asked. Kinda weird. No other complaints really, hence the three stars. But the food is kinda why you go here...

Typical franchise restaurant. The server was good but the service was slow. We waited 10 minutes before anyone even showed up at our table. The brisket nachos were good and the fresh jalapeño was a nice touch.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
