Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I had received a gift certificate for Cafe Lucia which obviously prompted me to give it a try. What a great little gem in the heart of Lenox. Because the meal was being paid for by a gift certificate, I decided to step outside my comfortable zone and try the mussels over pasta. What an outstanding dish! Even on Cape Cod, I have yet to find the same dish that tastes as good. The menu is limited to a handful of items, so you might not find a comfort food item on there, but my date was able to ask for Eggplant which wasn't on the menu and they created a wonderful dish for her. We had outdoor seating. All the landscaping and gardening made this a nice setting for dinner. We heard the conversations of everyone around us because the tables are close together, but we didn't find it that distracting. It looks like the seating inside is a little more open. I highly recommend Cafe Lucia for a special night out.

I went here with my boyfriend and his family during our trip to the Berkshires. The place looked so-so until the hostess led us behind a large sliding wood door and we entered a beautiful little seating area that was cool and quiet (the heavy door separates the dining area from the noise of the kitchen and the front desk). The food was DELICIOUS. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli which was served with marinara sauce (so good) and topped with a little pesto (a bit oily for my taste, but I'm picky). Everyone else was just as equally impressed with their dishes, most of which were a little fancier than mine. On top of this, my boyfriend had dietary needs at the time and asked for grilled chicken and plain pasta made with no oil or butter. This was the only restaurant that was actually able to fill this request and on top of this they did so without question or weird looks and the chicken was very tasty. The staff was very nice and the owner (I think he was the owner) was very friendly and talked to us a couple of times. The only set backs: It was raining the day we came so sitting outside was not an option, but the outdoor seating did not look very nice. Also, it was pretty pricey, but in my opinion, worth it.

Finally tried Cafe Lucia last night and was very disappointed. The server was courteous and good. The food was mediocre and overpriced--even by Lenox standards. My wife had the ceasar salad. Typical salad in a very small portion for $11. There is absolutely no excuse for charging this much for a run-of-the-mill, small portion of ceasar salad. I had the soup of the day, tomato. Again, it was fine, if a bit watery--but also overpriced at $9 for a small bowl. My wife had the pasta with the eggplant. The three, fried pieces of eggplant were good. The pasta in acidic tomato sauce was not--however, it was overpriced at $24. I had the sausage and penne. You guessed it--mediocre (with little sausage--the menu on their website saying the dish has 3 sausage links is old) and overpriced at $24. We spend summers in the Berkshires and live in Miami the rest of the year, which is to say that we're used to high restaurant prices. But the combination of exorbitant prices and mediocre food here is simply unacceptable. We will not return.

We had not gone to Cafe Lucia for several years because of the poor quality of the food. Friends prevailed upon us to have dinner there again. I'm sorry they did. The house salad was OK but nothing special. Since my wife split the salad there was an extra charge. I had the ricotta filled raviol with spinachi. The dish was truly awful. The tomato sauce was so acidic that the dish was barely edible. There was a miniscule bit of spinach. Moreover it was way overpriced. I will never go back.
