Okay...as a few Yelpers have mentioned, the Lawrence Dog Haus & Grill is located on the revered and sanctified location of the former Lawton's. I grew up on Lawton's and although as an adult, I fully understand that hot dogs, or any processed pork product full of nitrates is not good for us; however, every so often a good old fashioned hot dog is just the ticket. Let's first talk about the good: The owners of the new establishment are friendly, I mean, super friendly. Asking about where my relatives were from, and hearing that they were from Sicily, they immediately launched into a discussion of how close Algeria (where they are from) is to Sicily, even drawing me a map. As an educated person, I'm aware of where Algeria is; but, it was endearing to have them explain their homeland to me. They went to great lengths to show me how much of the old equipment they retained from Lawtron's. Clearly, they are aware of the cultural significance of Lawton's. My hot dogs were good but they were not Essem's so they taste and cook a little differently. They looked great frying in the oil but on the bun they dried out quickly. The fries have that ghastly coating that most food establishments are using now. I prefer the plain crinkle cut fries or smooth fries with no coating. I'm going to mention this the next time I visit. I'll be back to see how they are doing with their homemade onion rings and that Lawrence standard: the chicken barbecue sandwich. If they can get those two things right, I'll be back. Most importantly, I appreciated their friendliness. I spent $7.00 and the customer service was great. I've spent four times as much elsewhere and received far worse service. Let's give the Lawrence Dog Haus & Grill a chance to succeed.

Stopping for a quickie, I figured I'd try Lawrence Dog Haus, which took over when Lawton's when they closed. I was not impressed. Anyone who opens a hot dog stand should use a quality dog. Kayem does not cut the mustard. My chili cheese dog was a skinny, scrawny, skinless footlong with not much flavor on a nicely grilled bun. The cheese sauce is squirted on from a tub o'sauce. The chili had a smidge of flavor but it tasted like it might have been canned chili. I did not find the price of $3.75 to be far different from other hot dog stands. I was also surprised that they only offered the one size dog & didn't have a jumbo. As a lover of all encased processed meat byproducts, I call this a pass.

Tried the new Lawrence Dog Haus & Grille that is in the old Lawton's Hot Dog location on Canal Street in Lawrence, MA. Having gone to Lawton's since I was a kid, I was anticipating a hot dog true to the original Lawton's hot dog. Needless to say, I was disappointed. For starters, the hot dog roll was toasted on one side, and not the other. My hot dog was very, very well done (burnt). I asked for onions, mustard and relish. There was way, way to much mustard and relish on it, so much so, the onions on the bottom were drenched with mustard and relish. Yuk! That is all I tried there, so I can't attest to their other items offered. I will say, they annihilated my hot dog and don't hold a candle to Lawton's.

The Dog Haus is great 2 Fried Dogs made to order with all the fixings served with a drink for $5 bucks cant beat it..... I work nearby and visit twice a week. I recommend ordering a Ripper xtra crisp with mustard & onions

The place is a walk up type of place.... There are a few tables and chairs along sidewalk you can enjoy your lunch afterwards. Hotdogs were decent. Not the best of ever had but worth the price. I ordered fries but did not realize they were the really stringy think fries. Gentleman running the stand was very friendly. It was a cool place to get talk local politics with the owner and people in line

This place appears to be no longer in business. When you dial the phone it says. "the number is no longer in service".
