Checked this place out for our wedding because its a classic Holyoke landmark. Sorry to say, it's hit it's peak years ago and is going downhill. With some renovations it could be beautiful. Hope they update it soon, not sure how they are surviving.

My wife and I just got home from what may be the scariest dinner in a long time. I ordered scallps with mashed. Sorry, no mashed potatoes. How about rice pilaf. Sure, I said. Scallops were burnt on top. Just barely done inside. Rice pilaf? More like rice barf. Crunchy rice? Really?? It seemed like yesterdays rice mixed with todays. A huge pile of sliced carrots on the other side of the plate. Carrots were scrump. Wife had cod. Ok. Drinks were good. Service was great. Food just blows. Had a $50 gift card. eould NEVER go back on my dime.

I recently went to brunch at the Yankee Pedlar with a group of four. We had made a reservation in advance, and when we arrived at the restaurant, we stood around for several minutes before I was able to ask a server whether someone was checking guests in. Then, we were brought to our table without any further instructions regarding service, no drinks offered, etc. The food was fine, but not particularly good (and not worth brunch prices). There was one line for typical brunch staples: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, a chicken dish, and a fish dish. A second line for omelets and ham. A small table with a tired looking salad, and another small table with "dessert" which consisted of previously frozen pastries and cakes. Additionally, the decor is tired, the room (the Garden Room) was hot, and everything is a little dark. I'm sorry to say that I'll be skipping future meals at the Yankee Pedlar.

We went for Easter brunch, $30/person. We were seated on time, and.... Well that was pretty much it. The waiter filled the water glasses, but not coffee and offered the complimentary mimosa to only half of the table. The Buffett? POWDERED eggs!? Thirty bucks a person and they have powdered eggs. The bacon was good but cold, the sterno cups went out and we're treplaced so hot hangs were mildly warm. The chicken was ok, salmon was actually very good bot the poached and the cold smoked, the carving station has a decent ham, dried out lamb( which nearly made me cry) and a pretty rare sirloin. The salad was nicely displayed, but not a cool crisp salad. The shrimp was hung over the side of a bowl, one bowl for the whole buffet. Not a bowl full, but hung on the rim. So cut to the chase: Pro's: easy to get the reservation (hmmm), plenty of space, not squished in Con's: terrible service, pricey for what it was, hot food wasn't hot cold food wasn't cold. In short- find somewhere else. Don't say you weren't warned.

Overall the food is fine, there is a large list of items to choose from but nothing is better than average. I made the mistake of going a second time, but since it was on Mother's Day we were surprised with a bill that was twice what is normal. At no point did one of their many signs, the hostess, or a waitress let us know that there would be a surcharge. Considering the food is barely worth the normal $15 price, I am extremely disappointed that they 1-charge twice what is appropriate and then 2- fail to inform the public. To their credit, if I had known to go to the special events page of the website, I would have learned ahead of time about the cost. The restaurant should not leave the public to find out about an increased cost through the website alone.

I ate here twice before...the last time was about 20 years ago. Tried their Sunday Brunch today, hoping they had improved from two mediocre previous experiences. In fact, they have not. The facility is old and tired, and it is obvious that management has no focus on customer service. All of their servers were being tasked with activities that did not allow them to opportunity to earn tips by providing good customer service. They make server wages, and it is not legal to require them to do all of the support work that a busboy would normally do for full minimum wage. The result was that we did not get greeted promptly, the waitress did not clear used plates or refill beverages in a timely manner and we even had to go up to the coffee station to order coffees, since she obviously forgot to ask us if we wanted them. The bloody marys were overseasoned with way too much horseradish. There was only one entre each of meat, fish and chicken. It was a very small buffet lacking in anything special. The food itself was ordinary at best. Nothing "wowed" us. We did not leave a tip. We will not be going back again. It is a shame that some business owners and managers do not understand that the focus of any sucessfull business has to be on creating a superior customer experience. The manager of this business could have circulated among his guests to get feedback, but was obviously too busy doing something else....just like all the rest of his staff. We paid $36 for two brunches. I would rather have paid $50 to $55 at the Delhaney house in Holyoke and had much better food, better ambiance and far better and more attentive service. I felt like a senior citizen in a cafeteria lunch line at this place.

This place feels like a cross between a funeral home and a chilis. Very weird vibe. I went there with a couple friends and sat at the bar. The bartender was nice and accomodating, but the beer tasted funky and the selection was nothing special. There was a strange crowd... I guess that isnt out of the norm for Holyoke, but it just didn't really seem to have an identity other than where old white people go to eat brunch.

One of the few restaurants that Don't play the lousy music you hear nowadays. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. However, the menu, especially lunch, needs updating.

Sorry to say no good. We went for lunch to give it a try, again. Below average food quality. Our waitress was very good but the experience of going to this great Holyoke landmark, a disappointment. Come on folks step up. The menu said chicken pot pie with home made crust. It was bad. Left over chopped grilled chicken, in tiny pieces, one baby carrot and lots of potatoes in a very non-homemade base that was thick an gloppy and only warm, not hot. The crust was a piece of puff pastry. There was no skill in that dish and no care. one carrot. Very disappointed. I am sad. I do not think they will survive.

We went with a group from work and our first plan fell through so we ended up here thanks to Yelp. We all enjoyed our lunches. The 2 people that had the pot pie raved about them We were the only ones on the deck, so services was a bit slow at times but we were not in a rush. I would not have lunch here if you were. The tab was reasonable as the drinks were reasonable. Will try for dinner soon. Glad this place reopened.

Just went to their brunch yesterday and was very pleased with the quality of the food and the service . Used to go all the time years ago but they just recently re-opened for lunch and brunch. the price was around $17 for the brunch buffet included mimosas or bloody marys. It was 2 or 3 $ less if you chose not to have the alcohol with the brunch. There were made to order omelets with lots of nice fresh veggies , a beautiful fresh fruit platter, muffins and pastries , eggs , bacon, sausage , Belgian waffles . For hot entrees that week there was scrod and chocken parm - both were great . Oh , and they had carved prime rib ! Salad, veggies and rice pilaf as sides . And canollis , cheescake with berries and chocolate torte cakes for dessert ,Service was excellent too - I am so glad they are back for brunch . DEFINITELY would recommend it over Delaney House which is more money and the quality of food has diminished there recently .
