When you don't feel like driving to the beach this is best place to go for seafood. I love the steamers here. The fried clams are delicious too.

This was my first time here. I thought it was really good. The family haddock was great for 2-3 people, like they said. The fish was fresh and lightly battered, the French fries crunchy, cole slaw perfect and fresh as was the tartar sauce. The place was clean and the service friendly. The prices are also right on. The area isn't that great but I think they've been there before it got bad. And no, not all areas of Haverhill are bad and Lawrence is still worse. (Some people have no clue). The only thing is I didn't care for was the clam chowder. It is too thick for my taste. I prefer chowder made with milk instead of cream.

Sad this place is in such a bad area. But, let's face it, what area in Haverhill isn't bad. The city is the pit of the Merrimack Valley. Feel safer in Lawrence. Anyhow, they try hard here but the fish is not quite as fresh from what I can tell as Donahue's in Plaistow which only concentrates on take out and cook your own fish at home. Onion rings too greasy at Bradford. Cole Slaw a bit too much mayo for my taste. But others might like it. If this restaurant moves, no one will go to that area...except maybe the mayor of Haverhill....

Excellent seafood. Fresh and light. Cole slaw was homemade and really good. Just the right amount of mayonnaise

I went and gave this place a try I found it to be an odd setup. Dirty dishes in a sink tub near the silverware no malted vinger on the tables. Place was dead but it was an odd time around 2:00 pm you think they would pickup and clean. I live in the area and know it is in a dumpy area and planned on takeout. I tried the fish and chips it was ok at best. The fish did not taste right from the ocean caught that day. It more tasted like fish you get in a supermarket on sale. Batter was ok nothing extraordinary the fries were good and the cole slaw was so-so. the pieces of fish were real small like fish chunks. I have been to better fish places this was not top of my list in anyway.

The lobster roll is small. The onion rings are terrible. The last two times we were their the lobster roll had pieces of shell in it. Unacceptable. Never going back.

Just had dinner here tonight, scallops and clams were awesome and cooked to perfection! Super yummy! Great to know there's a place locally to get great fresh seafood! I'll be back and I highly recommend!

A quiet little local seafood joint that I imagine is kept afloat by a steady stream of townies aged 65-80 yrs old. I've stopped in for lunch a couple times and have to say the fish and chips are tasty and a deal but the other items I've had have been only so-so. I might stop back there again from time to time but with the range of places in the area from Carribean to chicken wings I won't be in a rush. pass

I love this place. Like others have said the location is shady to say the least but this shouldn't stop you from going there. The staff is awesome, are always helpful and always offering bread and other snacks to those waiting for food. They have a live lobster tank to keep curious kids busy. The prices are average for a fish joint in the area but you get giant portions, so much that the sides could be eaten as a meal by themselves. I highly recommend this and can't wait to go back myself!

I loved what I ordered and so did my husband. The area can be quite scary in the later parts of the evening...They close at 9 daily. The baked haddock nuggets were new and very delicioso! The same ladies are always there and it's a cute little family run business that has survived for quite a while in Haverhill! Standard seafood prices, so plan on spending $30 or more for a couple.. but well worth it!

Yes, the area is a little scary but this place is worth it. I love to support small family owned restaurants and this is one. Last summer they had a "Summer Special" that included a lobster dinner and Greek salad and it was amazing. The salad was especially good flavored with fresh dill.

So, on a Friday night after a week of work I felt I should get some food that matched how I felt: Fried. Bradford Seafood Restaurant & Fish Market is located in the downtown area that can't exactly be described as scenic, but upon entering the restaurant, I was surprised how much effort was put into making it a pleasant seating area. The place is kept clean and decorated with various props and a blue-and--white color scheme that seems to be the standard for seafood places. The woman who took my order was extremely pleasant and was patient given how frizzed I was when placing my order for take out. I went with the fishcakes plate because it was a really good deal at ~$8 (most plates are in the $12-$16 range) and added a chowder to compliment it. Looking around the area, the portions sizes seemed generous and the clientele were mainly elderly couples, so I wouldn't discourage anyone who would want to eat in. The food was packed well and was still hot when I got home. The chowder had a very rich base but had fewer "chunks" than I like. The fishcakes were extremely dense, delicious, and very filling. The onion rings were the standard flaky batter, and the portion size was a little smaller than what I saw on plates in the restaurant, but I think the take out container space was the limiting factor. My other side was coleslaw and they use a dressing that favors mayo over vinegar and chunk-cut the vegetables. In contrast, their tartar sauce has a much stronger relish flavor and might have some other spices thrown in; It wasn't bad, simply different than the mayo-heavy versions I'm used to. Overall, I was pleased with my order and would recommend it. Even if you aren't a huge fan of seafood, they have the standard fried chicken offerings and a few Greek dishes that likely have the same home-made quality.

This place is a "must-stop" when I go up to New England- good prices, great seafood, and friendly service. They purchase fresh caught seafood in Gloucester at the crack of dawn, transport it to the restaurant pronto, and you enjoy the prepared catch later in the day. As most of us know, the keys to excellent seafood are freshness and preparation, and they do both pretty well. Their menu tends to be heavy on the fried side, but there are plenty of dishes that they broil or steam, like the lobster (summer special platter for about $20!), scallops, shrimp, various fish, etc. Their fried oysters are heavenly, and fish and chips are a good value at $6.99 (although they use haddock, not the more expensive but tastier cod; of course that's another story about over-fishing certain species, but I won't go there). Watch their vegetable sides: they tend to be over-done. But hey, you're coming here for the great seafood, not the organic crunchy green beans, right? Anyway, if you ever get to the Haverhill-Lawrence area, make sure you do a lunch or dinner here. You won't regret it.

I grew up going to Maine often enough to consider it my second home. incase you don't know where I'm going with this, I'll just sum it up by saying I'm very familiar with good seafood, and this place does seafood right. I'm going to visit again, and will leave a more thorough review afterwards, but for now a thumbs up in the form of 4 stars will do.

Bradford Seafood Restaurant is a place where great food and great value meet! You order at the counter and they bring you your meal. I don't think you can beat their Haddock Plate special! Served on a large platter, it has a pound of haddock, a pound of fries, a load of cole slaw, a fresh roll, and great tartar sauce all for $11.99! The haddock is super fresh with a light and delicious batter, the fries are perfectly done, the huge amount of cole slaw is the best I have ever had, the huge roll (made by Fantini I am told) is so fresh, and, not being a tartar sauce fan, I devoured the entire amount it was so good! This whole deal is supposed to feed 2-3 people, which believe me it could, but with such a great taste I had to eat it all by myself! This special is served everyday except Friday. I saw some of the other dishes being served and they were also served on extra large platters! Not a fancy place but who cares when they have such good food at great prices? I can't wait to go back and try some of their other offerings! And by the way, they do have some Greek dishes as well such as Greek Meatballs with Spaghetti, a wonderful Greek Vegetable Medley, and some Greek pastries! And of special note: the workers are very friendly! Good job Bradford's!!

Ok, the location is one where you want to park your car so you can see it, the ambiance is bright lights and clean formica. But the fried fish dishes are good: not greasy, fresh, clean frying oil; and the owner has always been generous and accommodating.
