When I worked at the Blackburn Industrial Park, Classic Cooks was the go-to place for lunch. Admittedly, it was also the only place serving lunch in the entire park. Unlike most urban industrial parks, like the Cummings Center properties, Blackburn Industrial Park is almost completely barren of food places, and most of their businesses are spread out. So, this was the place to be if you wanted a home-made meal for lunch or a sandwich. I believe they serve breakfast now too. I always found the food delicious. I especially liked the special of the day. I had a co-worker, however, that found something to gripe about every day! She even would correspond with the owner via email to discuss what was wrong. I guess that's a sign of good customer service though if the owner is willing to take the time daily to talk with you via email! You've probably guessed a major drawback with Classic Cooks because of location: long lines. If you went around noon, you would be in line for at least 20 minutes. I always tried to go around 11:40. Another thing that always irked me was that sometimes you would get there and the food wouldn't be ready and you'd have to wait. If a place opens at 11:30 then I think their special of the day should be good to go. I rarely got anything from the regular menu, however, when I did, I always called it in in advance. One time, they were out of the special so we quickly ordered sandwiches and it took almost 20 minutes. Yikes! Another quirk- if you ordered in advance, you still couldn't go to the front of the line which was very annoying on days when the line was out the door. All in all though, the staff was always friendly and the food was really good. I don't think I got more than 2 items ever that I didn't like. Line would be ridiculous though on a daily basis if you didn't get there early enough. The prices for the menu items were high, but that's what you get when it's the only restaurant around. The specials were always great and had a decent price. If you work in the area, it's a good spot to try for lunch. And I'd love to hear how breakfast is- I always wanted to try it but never got around to it.
