Great local place! If they have the lobster, corn, asparagus chowder.. GET IT! Fun in the bar area... Ask for Kim to be your server.. She is great!!

I have been hearing about their prime rib dinner (served Thursday - Saturday) for some time. It lived up to the hype! Big cuts of meat cooked exactly as ordered. The clam chowder was fantastic! Worth having for lunch on it's own!

I'd possibly rate it higher but had an undefinable funky smell. I like the ship hull feel. Very old school and perfect fit for Cape Cod. The haddock chowder was terrific. The fried calamari adequate. Too much breading for my taste.

The quarterdeck doesn't always get much attention from the younger crowd, but it's a solid stop on Main Street for a meal and a beer. It has an old New England feel on this inside...supposedly made out of an old ship. Nice windows by the bar tables let in some light, but the dining room can be rather dark. Yes, when you go in there you might often feel like it was field trip day for the retirement home down the street, but hang in there, and try to sit in the bar area. The food here has been consistently good over the years, definitely a compliment here on Cape Cod, though I have to admit I've stuck to sandwiches and the chowder. Last night I was especially impressed by a simple grilled cheese on crunchy wheat with tomatoes. Lots of tomatoes. Red ones even. Their beer selection is pretty decent...you can always find a nice variety of local brews. Goldfish snacks for patrons which is a nice touch. The staff is super friendly and the bar service with Bruce could not be beat. I'd really like to start taking over this little hometown bar and turn it into our regular spot.

This place is seafaring quaint. The menu is ordinary, offering what you would expect from a New England seafood restaurant, but the specials offered were more adventurous. I had roasted duck breast over sweet potato with a tangy sauce. The clam chowder was also excellent.

TBH, was thinking "good location, poor food" when we went in. The front part of the restaurant looked the part - small, mostly bar, hostess stand. Luckily, waited for a table in the back and well worth it. Menu is higher end as you'd expect for fresh seafood in downtown Falmouth. Strong service, great "ship-like" decor and table in a quiet nook. Made for excellent dinner with wife/daughter. Lobster was excellent, everything about experience was solid.

Best prime rib I've had in years. lean, juicy, cooked perfectly. Scallop casserole was delicious. deserts great. Will definitely return.

We've been here just once so maybe this is not typical of the food served here, but my advice is if you are looking for fresh seafood you may want to skip this place and keep looking. Maybe the time we got here is a factor, which is near 9 and they close at 10 pm. The burgers were okay, nothing to crow about. The scallop salad was good and both the salmon and the swordfish were good as well. Now here comes the bad part - my daughter ordered the Chilled seafood sampler and she thought the lobster claw with it smelled kind of funky, but since she doesn't usually eat them she tasted a bit and said it was cheesy and bad. To the credit of our server, she apologized and replaced it with a claw twice as big and even said that this just came in 2 hours ago. So were they serving old seafood in there until they are gone or because they are near closing time? One in our group then said that the mussels that she had was also not fresh, but did not taste that bad and then the next day spent a lot of time in the bathroom. I can't believe that they don't know what they are serving is not fresh and had been sitting out there for a long time. My concern is the persons preparing the food should know not to serve seafood if they are not absolutely fresh, they should discard them and not compromise the health of customers.

This restaurant exceeded expectations in every dimension that mattered to us - ambiance, service, and food. It really felt cozy and ship-like inside, and not at all touristy (there were a number of regulars around us). We are visiting the Cape from San Francisco and wanted a night out with seafood on our last night. Our waitress Judy was fantastic. We had over-ordered, and she pointed this out and helped figure out what we could eliminate so we could really enjoy the meal. We had a delicious greek salad to start, followed by steamers (we had also ordered a cup of chowder, but with a full meal ahead that was what we cut). This was my boyfriend's first steamer experience (he's from CA, I'm originally from MA so I had had them before but it's been a long time). Judy patiently showed us how to peel them, dip them and eat them. They were fantastic - so fresh and definitely the best ones I could remember. We also ordered a new york steak and a boiled lobster. Again, it had been a while since either of us had lobster, and Judy patiently showed us how to crack and eat it to get the best meat out. Everything was delicious and we went home feeling full but not stuffed - thanks to Judy for steering us right! Hope to come back to this place someday!

Decent food for a decent price. The clam chowder was nicely flavored, but had very little in the way of potato, onions, or clam - pretty disappointing. My reuben sandwich was generous and flavorful. My companions were pleased with the Woods Hold Panini and the fried clam dinner. The server was adequately friendly and attentive. If you're in law enforcement or emergency services, bring a patch - they're pinned up all over the bar back.

Just ate there this weekend.. The place gets crowded with locals so either get there early or expect a wait. I can only imagine what its like during season! Bread served at beginning of meal was fresh and warm. I ordered a swordfish special which came with cauliflower gratin and baked potato. The potato was cooked perfectly. The gratin was good, but different. The gratin tasted like sour cream more than anything else, but it was good The fish was prepared beautifully, but just a teeny tiny bit overcooked. Overall it was a good experience... I would go back. Their menu is fairly extensive with a good selection of daily specials.

The Quarterdeck offers very good food at a very good price in a good down home, pub atmosphere. We've had the scallops, oysters, haddock, swordfish (yes, it's that good), and tuna. On the meat side, you can't go wrong with the prime rib. (Only ever had one oopsie with a meal; the kitchen scorched the sesame crusted tuna so all you could taste was the burnt sesame seeds. But waitress took it back and made everything right.) The only reason I'm giving it a 3 instead of a 4 star is that the owner really needs to put a little money into upkeep. The steak knives were too dull to cut through the prime rib and we went through THREE of them before we found one that was close to sharp. The prime rib was delicious and bathed in au jus. YUMMM!

Service OK Expensive for cod $ 23. Seafood platter cost less than the cod. Calamari was good, but not a lot of it. Will not go back and would not recommend .

  • Chuck C.

I think curly (Scots) kale and Mexican chorizo. They should be using Portuguese plain leaved kale and Portuguese chouriço or linguiça. It's a different type of kale that has more in common with (though not) collard greens that Scots kale. Subbing the sausage is just wrong. But I gave a 4 star score because the rest of the menu was a real value and the fish dishes are excellent. The service is way above par and friendly.

We spent just one night in Falmouth and looked to Yelp for a dinner recommendation. We have to eat seafood on the coast and Quarterdeck had the best rating. We were not disappointed. Although I also noticed a strange smell upon entering (I think it might be the old wood) by the time we got our water, it was unnoticeable. I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes had just the right consistency and the garden salad was fresh, as were the tasty rolls. My wife and sister shared a scallop salad and my wife had the Thai lobster soup. They both said their meals were excellent as well. The place was full of locals which is always a good sign. I would definitely go back if we return to Falmouth.

The food was OK but the waitress had the personality of a door knob and rather stuffy attitude at that. She made my girlfriend and I feel like we were from another planet, we had to ask for extra sauces on the side it she acted like it was a nuisance, then my girlfriend asked her if they had croutons and she looked at her like she had 2 heads and was completely dumbfounded by the question, then when she returned with the croutons for her salad she looked at my girl and said, " they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked the chef " Yea it's completely crazy to put croutons on a salad. Also she was confused by the question "Do you have Ranch dressing ?" for some reason, cause ranch dressing isn't common I guess :-/ . The salad was mediocre so it needed croutons and Ranch if you ask me also my scallop plate was very mediocre at best. Also some grumpy old couple was next to us and commenting on our private conversation the whole time. My experience at this restaurant was completely Doo Doo ! (crap) I won't ever be back !

Man i wish i had the lobster roll, instead i went for the oyster roll which still was a nice hot and tasty. Clam Chowder was pretty good as well. The waitress was friendly and so were the people, it's a nice quaint place with lovely stained glass and wood from ships it seemed. Of course my memory is slightly tainted due to the fact that i was there in Oct '09.

Don't let the really mean elderly hostess scare you off. Nice bar atmosphere. Live music and good bar vibe. Clam chowder...ok. Stuffed quahog terrible. They used fake clam shells, never seen that before. The best was the prime rib (I think only on weekends). Huge cut, rare and flavorful. Very reasonable prices.

went to the Quarterdeck on recommondation of fronk desk clerk at hotel and glad I did. Went at 600p and was seat immiedately. (luckily before a party of 18 wanted tables) Started with a bowl of clam chouder which was perfect thickness not too starchy and not too soupy. Appiizer waslackened scallops which were very good, Wife and I split a 2lb lobster which the kitchen did split for us which made it much easier to eat Service was friendly and effecent very fu

Quarterdeck is yet another place on our family vacation to eat. I always eat one of the sandwiches, which are amazing. They are juicy and the bread is soft and tasty. The fries are amazing! The restaurant is much like a boat and the decor is very nautical. The atmosphere is a little crowded and the bathroom is not very clean, but what matters is that the food is good and the service is good. Both of which exceed expectations. They lost one star because of the bathroom facilities' cleanliness and for the crowdedness of the dining room. In a nutshell, the Quarterdeck is very comfortable and townie, with great food and great service on the main streets of Falmouth.

Outstanding service and ambiance! Delicious cioppino special and lobster salad sandwich for main courses - steamers and clam chowder yummy apps. Can't wait to go back . . .

Nice cozy and quaint restaurant in Falmouth. We usually end up there on the 4th, before the fireworks. Smallish interior with rustic wood finish, like the inside of a ship. Some of the wood inside is rumored to come from old sailing vessels that date back to the 1600's. Also has a nice stained glass art piece inside. Restaurant appears to be split between the front bar area and a rear dining area. Third trip there was 7/4/08. When we got there the place was packed with one open table in the front bar area. We were told we couldn't sit there because our daughter (9) was too young to sit at the bar area (not the bar) but at a separate table. When we last visited 2 years ago we sat there (when she was 7). This trip there were two kids sitting there (and they looked 11) so something was bullsh*t. - I think they were throwing bones to the locals (which I'm OK with) but please don't b/s me. Anyway we waited for a table for about 20 minutes and were seated in the back. I had the excellent turkey panini with arugula, tomatoes, and avocado. When I ordered it the waitress offered "good choice!" and it was - perfectly executed. My wife enjoyed her pasta dish and my daughter enjoyed the ubiquitous chicken fingers. We were eating light because watching the fireworks in Falmouth involves a long walk from where you park... This place has lots of good looking food (lobsters, steaks, etc.) if you are in the mood. Friendly service in the "hi hon!" manner. Rustic bathroom facilities (a larger restaurant with the dreaded "single stall" mens room). I hate those. Again, fine for kids, and we saw a group of 8 go in (with a reservation?) but I would hesitate to show up here with 10 people and expect to get a seat within a reasonable time on a weekend. All in all - a fine place to go. If Yelp allowed 1/2 stars, I'd go 3.5.

Are you kidding me? My dad was on MV forever, but when he migrated to the the Cape, this was the revelation. As foretold, one of the best lobstah sammiches in the world. No kidding. Say no more.

It's alright. Nice old school pub like setting. Service is generally friendly and prompt. Portions are good, the food is not bad, and prices are reasonable - they specialize in the seafood based comfort food that the older folks on the cape tend to like. However, I like my food to be less heavy and greasy. This place is like a non corporate version of Red Lobster

If you like being around a bunch of snarling, grouchy old people with crooked teeth then this is your place. The hostess/waitress/owner was very rude. The bartender was rude and the surly patrons were rude every time I've gone here. Just walk by on the street and you'll see them snarl when you look through the window. Seriously. The food is okay, but you could get the same without the attitude somewhere else.

Quarterdeck is a good pub type restaurant--has a local feel, too. It does have a good list of seafood and other foods as well. I will admit that some of the reviews are corrrect that you won't find the "younger" crowd here, but it's also not as some suggest as full of old people. The bar itself is very lively, and can be wicked loud even for a younger set. We like to eat in the back where we can actually talk.

Visited this joint on a busy Saturday evening in February. They don't take reservations, but we called ahead and got on the wait list about 20 mins before arriving. Even still, the four of us waited 40 mins for a table. Waiting area is cramped, but there is a nice little bar and a friendly crowd. Once we sat down, service was friendly and prompt, and the food was quite good. Our table ordered a fried seafood platter, fried oysters and a chicken pasta dish, all of which entailed hot and hearty portions of the good stuff. Plan to visit again on a weeknight.

Our experience was a little odd, in that things started out really, really poorly, but ended up being okay in the end. The reason things started out so poorly is because of the lousy service. When we were finally able to speak with our waitress (it took a while), we asked if a substitution could be made on one of their entrees (shrimp for chicken). Our waitress (supposedly) went to the kitchen and asked the chef(s), returning with an answer of "no". Of course it's the kitchens prerogative to say "no", however we thought they were being a bit rigid, after all, it was only shrimp for chicken, not like we wanted to change spices or sauces. Once we did place our order (food and wine), we were left sitting for just over a half-hour with no further service - no water, no bread, no rolls, no salads, no wine, nothing. When we had nearly reached the point of simply leaving, our waitress showed up with our salads, some rolls, and the wine. She also apologized for not being more attentive (which helped just a little). Shortly thereafter our entrees arrived, and they were all very good. So, the food was very good, but the service lacked considerably ...

Just had the most delicious meal ever here! The prime rib was incredible, the salad was fresh and nice, and the fried calamari and blackened scallop appetizers were amazing. A few in our party got fried clams and a filet mignon special - both got great reviews. Great margarita too. Our waitress was busy but took good care of us. We had such a nice time. I would rate it 5 stars except for the rude hostess and the fact that they wouldn't take a reservation, leading to a long wait. Overall great restaurant though. Can't wait to go back.

My sister and I walked in right at the end of lunch. We had the fried seafood platter and the seafood pot pie which were both fantastic. Our waitress was polite and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend The Quarterdeck to anyone, and will definitely return the next time I'm in Falmouth.

I came to the Quarterdeck on a nice sunny day. The sun was shining, the sidewalks were filled with souvenirs and sweatshirts, and drunken boys yelled hello to strangers from the rooftops with all their shenanigans. Walking into the Quarterdeck, it was dark and at 5pm, there were already a few folks at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who took us to our table and we were quickly served water and bread. Lucky for us, we were pretty hungry. We decided and started with the mussels. The mussels came out with a couple wedges of grilled bread to soak up the juices. Oh man, it was SO GOOD. One of the best mussels I've ever had. The secret always seems to be in the broth and the Quarterdeck had perfected theirs. The mussels definitely earned the Quarterdeck a third star. Onto my entree, I got the fried clams and I thought they tasted okay. There was a huge mountain of them, enveloping pretty much all the fries and side of cole slaw. I ate about half and gave up when an old man sitting next to me informed me that he thought the Quarterdeck's clams were kind of gritty and that there were better places to go. *shrug* The service was great. A little bit slow and other servers had to jump in every now and again because our server was nowhere to be found, but when she was around, she was very attentive and helpful in giving us her opinion when we were stumped with the menu. With so many places around, I'd say we probably could have had a better experience elsewhere, but overall, I didn't think it was THAT bad. Just not good enough for me to contemplate returning is all.

Not recommended. Casual dining, relaxed atmosphere but mediocre food. The mussels were tough and bitter. The calamari was tough and overly breaded with bland, greasy batter. Expensive price for poor quality of food. Service was lackluster. Will not go back there.

Let me make clear that I have no complaint about the food at the Quarterdeck. Our seafood was just what we expected, tasty, and prompt. The baked scallops were swimming in butter, and the fisherman's platter was perfectly fried. However, we had serious problems getting seated for lunch on a Friday. We were kept waiting out in the rain - with a baby! - while the hostess continuously mis-estimated the wait time. The ten minute count does not restart every time I check in! I had even tried to call ahead to make a reservation (since we had a baby with us), but I was told that they don't take reservations. Ah, well. I probably won't be back, but not because of the food.

My girlfriends and I wanted seafood on our weekend away. Upon walking in, there were 3 woman standing there. We were not sure if they were the hostesses or customers waiting for a table. They just smiled at us and didn't ask to take our name. Very awkward! Finally one asked our name. After being seated very quickly, we ordered a drink. They were very yummy. The meals came quickly and were delicious! The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely come back.

This restaurant was ok (BUT KEEP READING!)... I ordered the fried clams, the only clams at our table of 6 on 10/11/10. The clams were good but I did notice that they seemed a little squishy. A few hours later **I was throwing up for 2 hours.** I'm not mad at the restaurant. (Although I'll never go there again.) I realize that these things happen: bad clam, undercooked clam, etc. But that was a night I'll always remember. I may never eat clams or fried anything again! My family has enjoyed making jokes about fried clams and going back to the Quarterdeck. My MIL and SIL had the scallop salad and loved it, though. Still, with so many other restaurants with practically the same menu, why not try somewhere else? Liam Maguire's, across and a block down, was just as good, even better service, and no throwing up!!

I am surprised by some of the negative comments here. This place is great for what it is- a pub/neighborhood bar with good/solid bar food and entrees. This is NOT a fine dining establishment: no fru-fru meals and stupendous service. This is definately a "townie" sort of place where it seems everyone knows each other. Sure the wait staff is a little abrupt- it is a bar and it is a little noisy inside. I always find the service adequate. Food is always good solid pub food. Don't go here if you are looking for an authentic chicken marsala. Their marsala is good but not something served in Italy. They have an awesome lobster salad and the mussels are delicious! When I am in the mood for a casual bar type dinner with no pretenses, I happily head to the Quarterdeck. Give it a try- it's good!

Its a bold statement when anyone says "This is the best swordfish you will ever have". My father(the subject of the preceding line) has said this often, but lately he has been incredibly accurate...a kind of insidious reverse Alzheimers disease... The swordfish is indeed the best I have ever tasted. My scallops were damn good. The atmosphere was authentic pub, but an absolute find for seafood on The Cape

  • Joseph A.

Just had dinner here with a party of ten. The service was fast and friendly and everybody said their meal was very good. I had the swordfish and it was a surprisingly large portion cooked to perfection. It was as good a swordfish as I have ever had.

You need to go here if you're in Falmouth! The inside is just awesome - but more than that they have the friendliest staff and the best food I swear. Their bread basket is awesome (essential!) and their appetizers are always delicious. My favorite is when they have the filet and lobster tail on the menu, it's always so delicious. They have great prime rib cuts as well. You need to get clam chowder here too if you go, that should be the first thing you order. They also have great shrimp scampi if you're a pasta eater. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and very attentive, plus they can regale you with stories of how they wound up there or their favorite things to do on the Cape. It's a great place and I've had tons of memories there.

This weekend was my first time in the Cape Cod area, and I wanted an authentic Cape Cod seafood experience. We wandered around Main Street looking for someplace that wasn't too shi shi. Quarterdeck was the first place we checked out. After walking down the busy part of Main Street and checking out the menus at a couple of other places, we came back to Quarterdeck. Glad we decided to do that. The meal was solid. I ordered two things from today's specials menu. The seafood chowder contained large, delicious chunks of fresh crab. My entree, a sole filet with breadcrumbs and lemon butter, was perfectly cooked! Actually, I pushed the capers that were on top of the filet off to the side because I dislike capers. There was no lingering taste of the capers, only lemony-buttery-papricka-y goodness. The portion size (for me) was substantial, so I ended up taking half of my entree home. I wished I had twice the stomach size just so I could finish more if it right then and there. I knew I'd never get around to eating the rest of it, no matter how good it was. That's the fate of pretty much all of the leftovers that go home with me. It seems as if most Bay Area restaurants reviewed by Bay Area residents contain critical commentary about the service, and the service affects the overall rating. Not sure how true that is for the other reviews posted for Quarterdeck to date, so I'll do my duty as a Bay Area-n. The service was average. I think our waitress started out a bit brusque, but seemed to soften up a bit through the meal. 3 stars for service and ambiance. 5 stars for the food. 4 stars overall.

We ate here on our first night in Falmouth. It was pretty good. The wait was 45 minutes. I had a lobster roll and everyone else was happy with their food. Although she never brought our salad, but we weren't charged. Worth a shot.

Bah. Yelp, please let me rate with half stars. The Quarter Deck could definitely rate a 4.5. The swordfish here is fantastic and its served with a little salty brown mush known as anchovy butter. I never knew the stuff existed until I went here. Boy have I learned. Other food is generally good. I've only had one "meh" dish here (some sort of lamb) and I've subsequently learned that I don't like lamb. Guess I can't blame them for that one. The downsiders are as follows: It's a bit small, waits can be long and the service gets a bit iffy when they're crowded. Portion sizes are a little small and combined with slightly expensive meals you'll probably spend a lot if you try and fill up. Generally worth it for the quality though. One of my favorite places on the cape.

We think the Quarterdeck is one of those hidden secrets of Falmouth - the food can be extraordinary - especially when someone has just delivered a fresh striped bass! Steamers, shrimp dishes, fish are all good and burgers are yummy too. Friendly staff; lunch is a bargain; and the bar is pleasant. This is a local spot not to miss.

Ate here tonight w husband after a nice first visit here about a year ago w friend and her two boys. Can't believe I've been coming to the Falmouth area every summer of my life and never had tried this place before. It's hard to "read" the place from the outside...but so glad I did try it. My gazpacho was delicious, fresh-tasting, great texture and flavor, mellow and not at all acidic despite all those tomatoes, with a dense dollop of sour cream in the middle. Husband had crab bisque, rich and buttery but not overly so. Not too salty, just a hint of sherry but again subtle, nicely done. He had the fish sandwich, nice thick portion of well-cooked white fish with fresh tomato and lettuce garnish (real red tomatoes, not styrofoam pseudo-tomatoes) and homemade potato salad on the side. I had a special, halibut with citrus (orangey) sauce (not saucy, just enough to flavor the fish on the top) and sauteed summer cherry/grape tomatoes with dill and arugula, homemade mashed potatoes. Sides were delicious, and the sauteed tomatoes/arugula a nice departure from what most restaurants do for sides (veggies are typically treated as an afterthought, but these were as carefully flavored and cooked as the main item). Fantastic, nicely cooked thick slab o' fish, twice the portion size you'd get elsewhere. Started with a salad w parmesan peppercorn. And did I mention the warm homemade rolls with real butter (plus 4 more for the two of us when I requested a refill)? By the way, the guy seated at the corner of the bar had one of their famous lobster sandwiches---thick roll absolutely overflowing with big chunks of lobster meat. I've heard this is the bomb---will try it at another visit for sure! The service was great too---seated by a pleasant hostess, who was again pleasant and helpful when I sought her aid when the large party next to us was getting a bit loud. We were re-seated with no attitude or fuss---she couldn't have been nicer about it. Waitress was also very pleasant, friendly/smiling attitude, checked on us frequently (but not too frequently), brought us those extra rolls xoxoxoxo We were too stuffed for dessert---as I mentioned, portions are very generous----it's a very good deal for the quality and quantity of the food. Atmosphere is dark/rough-hewn historic wood, strives to re-create the feel of being below deck in a wooden sailing ship. Not the place to go for an airy/sunny summery ambience---but definitely go for the food, value, and service. We'll definitely be back!

In town for a wedding last weekend. Friday 7pm, and the town was packed. We were told about two good stops, one Italian, and the other Mexican. We wanted local stuff. Read the window menu here, and it was exactly what we wanted. 60-90 min wait we were told by the hostess. I knew it wouldn't be that long. Grabbed two draughts from the bar. Within 10 mins, the couple next to us paid their check. Two great seats. Steamers app, grilled striper for me, steamed 2lb lobster for her. This food was way, way better than expected. Superb steamers, her lobster was closer to 3lbs than 2lbs, and me striped bass was truly perfectly grilled. Bartender was attentive. We could have not asked for more!

Oh my, where do I start in describing how fast you should run from this place? If the musty, foul stench that hits you when you enter the front door does not send you running down Main Street, then just be prepared, the help will do so much more to send you away. We arrived around 5 pm in a good mood, hungry and with vacation money to spend. A business owner's dream in this tough economy right? No, obviously not enough for this place. After getting menus, we requested a chance to look them over before ordering drinks. Well, the waitress made a sarcastic remark about "being there for hours" and disappeared, then came back to our vicinity, but totally ignored us, chatting up a hostess, waiting on the only other table, and refusing to make eye contact with us. We made sure our menus were closed and tried to guess how long it would be before the waitress would return (she certainly wasn't busy) or before the hostess who was looking at us becoming impatient did SOMETHING. No, after fifteen minutes of waiting for any attention, we got up, thanked them for NOTHING and took our business to a clean fresh smelling and delightful restaurant right down the street. After this horrendous experience, I do not know how this place stays in business!

Lobster salad sandwich...nuff said...probably meat from 1-11/4 pound critter on crusty Portuguese bread...$25

Went there for dinner and the service was alright, but the menu wasn't as wide as we expected and the portions were on the somewhat small side for what we paid. The service was very polite, and the nautical theme of the restaurant was to be expected from the area, but still a little dark. Based on my experience at The Quarterdeck, I feel that I can sum it up in three words; mediocre and meager.

Service: eh. Chowder: ok. Lobster roll: YES YES YES YES YES! Owned by the same folks who run the Chart Room in Cataumet (Pocasset? I always forget. Somewhere in Bourne). Tasty, and conveniently located right on Main Street.

The lobster sandwich is so rock n roll. Get it grilled - if your body is ready. Atmosphere is great for families and they have a full bar as well to watch the game during the afternoons. Dig it!

We wanted a classic seafood dinner while staying in the cape and we absolutely found it here! I started with the lobster bisque which was on special and was the best I have ever had, warm rolls were served at the same time and I'm a sucker for some bread dipped in soup. We also got Calimari which came with two awesome dipping sauces that led some variety to the usual marinara/cocktail sauce. I had had scallops the night before but really wanted a big salad with sea food and they were very accommodating with my request to swap the scallop salad for shrimp, this was also amazing! Lots of mini grilled shrimp and roasted peppers and cheese with a light vinaigrette and cheese, service was just as excellent as the food and the ambiance added to the Cape vibe.

Dinned her for a family birthday this past weekend. We were all excited to hear that the restaurant was able to accommodate 12 people for dinner. As soon as we came in we were seated and greeted by two waitresses at the table. Our full party was not at the table so the people that were there placed their orders. The food was amazing. From the kids meals to the typical fried clams. The first meal we had ordered had been forgotten when everyone had received out meals. While they had delivered our meals a plate had broke which I assumed was the meal that was forgotten. When asking a waitress that we were waiting on another plate she had got defensive and denied we had ordered it. It was actually the first plate we ordered. The waitress who placed the order came over apologizing and got rather touchy for my liking (I could see my husband get angry that she was touching him). Even though she was apologizing she never offered to bring it over on the house ( at this point everyone was finished with our meals). I understand people make mistakes, just not handled in the best way. Clearly miscommunication between the two waitresses. Will not be dinning her again, but I'm sure other in our party that evening would.

We've dined here many times and the food is OK. I took my girls and my Neice and nephew there tonight knowing that it has always been kid friendly. We walked in and were asked if we had called ahead. When we said no the young hostess said that it would be 40 minutes. I was shocked as the place was not nearly filled. I said I would put my name down regardless. I asked to use the rest room for my 6 year old and was told that the rest room was for "PAYING COSTOMERS ONLY." We will never go back there again. Ridiculous.

I'm so glad I discovered The Quarterdeck on a recent visit to Falmouth for my birthday. The food was delicious. I had the fish and chips and it was so fresh and exactly what you'd hope for. My Mom had the broiled sole special which was also very fresh and delicious. The staff was SO friendly, eve brought me a sundae with a candle when they heard it was my birthday. It was a great experience and I'd recommend for freshest seafood in the area.

I'm not sure why the management of this restaurant feels they need 3 hostesses and only a few waitresses. While we watch our poor over-worked waitress run from table to table, the useless hostesses just stare at our empty glasses and bread basket. They seem mildly annoyed that we are taking so long. It's kind of hard to eat when you don't have your food yet. Maybe next time you shouldn't seat 5 tables in the same section at the same time and overload your waitress. The food was decent and the waitress really did her best to keep up.

This seems to be one of those restaurants where you really have to know how to order. It can be a tourist trap or a hidden treasure depending on what you make of it! I'd been here several times without having anything really memorable when I decided to get a Chilean sea bass special. (I know, I kind of missed the point, didn't I?) It was a really beautiful plate with fresh, in-season produce and, of course, perfect fish. (The mashed potatoes were yummy, too!) I only wish I could have had such a good quality meal every time! The waitstaff are nice, but service is pretty slow, and the dinner prices don't seem to make much sense. For example, the fried seafood prices go up from $15 to $22 from lunch to dinner, which I guess is reasonable, except why would you get fried shrimp for $22 when you can get a full dinner entree for $27? Or a sandwich for $14? I don't know, the menu seems really confused. Overall, though, it's not a bad place to go for fresh seafood as long as you order carefully and don't mind a wait!

Went here with friends while in town. Sat downstairs and everyone enjoyed their meal. We had the halibut, lamb, lobster ravioli and shrimp special and the mussels in marinara. Also had the calamari and white wine steamers. Everyone was pleased with their meal. We also had a bottle of red & bottle of white. They had a good wine selection and decent price on the bottles.

Never go there on a Friday. It's quite a travesty that their delicious food is sullied by the service. We showed up at 6:30 and we're told it was a 45 min wait. Over an hour later we were seated and we were not served our food until 9 o'clock!!! I do not ask for waitstaff to be overtly friendly, but they should at least be responsive; the hostesses and several waiters were neither of these. The lobster was delicious as was the calamari and chilled seafood sampler. The mixed drinks are mediocre to good. Despite the exquisite food the overall experience left a bitter taste in my mouth.

This is a hard one. Love the environment! Loved the calamari and service. My meal the fish tacos were more like fishless tacos. My son's awesome kids meal fish and chips had more seafood than my adult dinner. My wife loved her hot seafood combo. If my dinner was better I would have rated a four star. I will give them a second chance.

Great location, friendly staff, food was good and proportions were fair, just a little over priced. Inside is really cool you feel like you are in the valley of a ship. Calm chowder was good, just felt again that it was overpriced even for what you got for seafood, I would say that's really the only negative.

I am scared to write this review because this place already gets too crowded sometimes. But I can hold back my praise no longer. This is by far the best restaurant in Falmouth for seafood. Sure, go to Quahog Republic if you want to go to a self-proclaimed "Dive Bar" (yes, the scare quotes are to be used in those cases when saying so means that it isn't so [as when someone says "oh I'm pretty humble"]) or whatever. But if you want seafood broiled, fried, served raw, or lobster-rolled up correctly (in two different versions and sizes!), you should probably go here instead. The ambience is great, especially if you eat upstairs. Lots of older folks, yet if you are younger, you get the feeling that you are super cool in a place of old shanty old folks or something. Ok, let's cut to the chase. I had one of the best meals of my life here. The only better seafood meal was probably at Le Bernardin in NYC, for $500 more. The Quarterdeck has sometime in the last few years drastically improved their wine list, and I am drastically grateful, because finally the wine matches the quality of the food! We began with 1/2 dozen oysters, from three local sources (including the super delish, floral-briny Sippewisset variety), and 1/2 dozen littlenecks. These I enjoyed with the delicious white Burgundy, which I recommend along with the Sancerre from the list, unless you are a heathen drinker of Californian oak like too much of pagan America. ANYWAY, the oysters and clams were absurdly good, providing a "terroir of the sea" foundational for the rest of the meal. Next we had some of the best steamers I've had in my life. Sweet and umami-y and a healthy amount. (Incidentally, this is not one of those places where "market price" is secretly $60 or something horrifying like that.) EDIT: If you want to know what to do with the sand, make sure to swish the clam around by the neck _a lot_ in the hot broth provided. But it's rare that good steamers are sand-free, right? Finally, we split the large lobster roll, which comes on some highly recommended Portuguese bread. My dinnermate, who is kind of a gross old lady but whatever, she's old, had to order extra mayonnaise. For those people who come from a world where public health and palates are more advanced, the Quarterdeck's may be among the best lobster rolls you will eat. There is hardly any mayonnaise to diminish the taste; the meat is plentiful and fresh; it's not just a bunch of claws and fingernails but a complete eviscerated chicken lobster or two or three. I just had to swallow my saliva recalling this part of the meal. In conclusion, I'd like to say I'm not prone to hyperbole or a newcomer. I'm from New England. I have been coming to this restaurant probably twice a year to visit my relative for (I think?) more than 10 years, and I have never had a bad meal. P.S. I love the review below re: the Asian table but I did want to say that, despite being Asian, I'm never seated there. What gives? That table is pretty nice. Is it because my relative isn't Asian enough?

This place is ok. I don't have kids, but I came for dinner on a slow-ish Monday night with my sister and two nieces (who are 8 and 9). They have a fun menu for kids whose tastes run slightly above chicken fingers and spaghetti with butter. My nieces ordered a kid-portioned fish & chips and lazy man's lobster for dinner and were both happy as clams (pun intended). Their meals were between $10-$15 each, which seems kind of steep for kids' meals, but then again, they were eating haddock and lobster, not frozen pizza, so I guess that is to be expected. I had an $8 glass of the house sauvignon blanc and the fried scallops ($22). It was a HUGE portion of pretty decent scallops and fries that came with one tiny half-filled ramekin of tartar sauce. My sister had a Yueng-Ling (Yueng-Ling Light, actually - they were out of Yueng-Ling) and the Megansett sandwich, which is a giant toasted crabmeat sandwich/panini thing. She said it was quite good, even though she could only eat half. For food, I would give them 3.5 stars. Service was prompt. We were initially told it would be a 20-30 minute wait for a table, but we were seated in less than 10. Our food came out very quickly after we ordered, which was appreciated by all of us, because we were starving. Now for the not-so-good: we were seated downstairs in the bar area, which was kind of weird with kids, but not that busy, so it was fine. Our waitress was not super friendly as far as waitresses go, but she seemed pleasant enough. My main issue was that she was so preoccupied with a party of six adults directly behind us (who were boozing it up and ordering the more expensive entree specials) that she couldn't be bothered to do much more than take our orders and then drop our check. As a former waitress/bartender myself, I can't entirely blame her. Half the people in our party of 4 were children, and one of the two adults at our table ordered a $10 sandwich. At $80-ish, our check was probably 1/5 the size of theirs. But, it still kind of sucked never being offered a second glass of wine when I really wanted one, not having enough tartar sauce for even half of my entree, and having to flag her down to get a water for my niece long after she had finished her shirley temple and most of her meal. Also, she seemed vaguely put-off when my sister wanted to wrap up the other half of her monster-sized sandwich, which was kind of weird. When your portions are the size of someone's head, I would imagine that request comes more often than not. Anyway, like I said, I don't have kids. Maybe that level of service is kind of the norm for people with children. I'm not used to it, though and I was not impressed. i still left her 20% because as I mentioned, I was a waitress/bartender myself for years. But, I wouldn't go back. Or, at least, not with kids.

I've had my share of clam chowder during my vacation in Falmouth, and I have to admit that my favorite was here at the Quarterdeck. I loved the look and feel of the restaurant, and the food was great. Went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty packed, so I can imagine it being tough at night. The price was just right too, and cheaper than other seafood restaurants around the area.

Place was rated very good but, I found the restaurant to be dark and dirty. We waited 20 minutes and the serving staff never even acknowledged us. We got up to leave and wasn't even questioned or stopped as to why.

I've been a member of Yelp for a couple of years and have never left a rating, but I must make this my first...We called ahead for reservations for a party of 8 and was told that they would "try" to seat us st 8:30. Showed up early and finally got seated at 9:00. This is s cozy location that seams to cater to parties of 4 based on the table arrangements so bigger parties beware! We were seated in two separate tables. When we tried to move the two tables closer together, the owner/manager told us it was a fire hazard and that the marshal would write them up and proceeded to push the tables back to their original places. Mind you, we were not causing an fire hazard or interference of any kind. To the food; the clam chowder is some of the best I've ever had, should be entered into local competitions. Steak tips were good but a little overcooked and my sons burger was overcooked as well. Being Friday night, they had a live singer/guitarist who was very good. All and all, atmosphere was nice. Food was good. Maybe stop by for drinks later at the small bar and enjoy the music. Wish the owner/manager spent a minuscule amount of time with us while she flitted between the other tables. I presume that they where locals.

Again. Birthday dinner for my son. We had clams casino, 2 salmons specials, prime rib and sole special. We were all very happy. The salmon was on seaweed and I loved it. The beef just right and the fish fresher than fresh and perfectly cooked. I really like the consistency of this place.

My husband & I are visiting our family in Mashpee but love the quaintness of Falmouth. We went into The Quarterdeck...& then our wonderful experience started. Our Waitress, Lauren, was so helpful & just a delight. We had the Mussels with the Portuguese Bread, Cherry Stone clams & Oysters. Oh, & a Gin & Tonic along with a Vodka Tonic! Every Single bite of our food was AWESOME!! IT WAS SO GOOD, WE WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AGAIN FOR LUNCH! 2 Days in a Row & still, Fantastic!!!

After a long day of sight seeing, a relaxing dinner was just what our party of 7 needed. We were immediately greeted by a kind blonde with a truly beautiful soul. The server, Lana, was a true peach. Now I know your first thought "like lana del Rey." Well this lady proved to be the real rock star as her serving skills blew any work of the singer's out of the water. Definitely requesting her as a waitress next time!

I notice that in almost every city I visit there seems to be a restaurant called the Quarterdeck, some of are good and some are bad, I'm going to list the Falmouth Quarterdeck in the good category. The place isn't any fancy in the terms of look, there is a bar area in the front and a some family sit down area in the back. The walls are all wood, apparently some of the wood came from an old ship from way back in the 1600s. The wood has a an odd smell that takes a little getting use to but once you're there for a minute you hardly notice it. Service was decent, I feel the waitress started a little slow but warmed up to my group as the night went on. She seemed a little frustrated with my brother who couldn't decide what he wanted but she gave him a couple of suggestions and worked it out with him. Food was pretty good, I was able to try a variety of things. Started with the calamari, nicely breaded with good flavor and nice portion size. I was also able to try for the first time ever a stuffed Quahog, I had no idea what a Quahog is but if you're in Falmouth or Cape Cod in general you'll see the name on plenty of restaurant billboards or menus, anyway the stuffed Quahog was very good, not sure what is in the stuffing but I enjoyed the taste and texture. For my entree I had the seafood platter, probably way more fried food then I should be eating but still good. It was a variety of shrimp, mussels, scallops etc.. all fried well and with nice taste. Definitely worth a visit if you're on Main Street in Falmouth and are looking for a decently priced not too fancy seafood place.

What a total let down. Our B&B owner recommended this place, so we were expecting some amazing seafood that the locals loved. Instead I'm guessing he was sending us to this tourist trap of restaurant to keep is away from his local joints! The real killer was the service. We ordered their special appetizer of the day, their chilled seafood sampler, and some clam chowder. We got our drinks and proceeded to wait 45 minutes (not lying) for our appetizer. The waitress's came by twice during that period (one of those times because I flagged her down to see what was the delay)...the order was not printed evidently. Wasn't even offered bread for the table, even though~80% tables were given it. Once our appetizer did arrive, the waitress said wasn't it worth waiting for? It was good, but sautéed mushrooms with lobster was not worth that long. The rest of the meal came quickly, but was far from amazing. We got the bill (no deductions for our wait on the appetizer) and got the heck out of there. Not the way I wanted to start my vacation. Luckily, Falmouth has much better restaurants and wait staff elsewhere.

Love the atmosphere! Seafood was very good and fresh, clam chowder is incredible. The bartender and our waitress Madeline were super friendly. I think the Hostess lost track of when we got there as we saw a few people who arrived after us got seated before us. Was quickly fixed once we brought it up though.

What a perfect dinner on our last night! My scallop/shrimp scampi over linguini was perfection. The sea bass with the basil sauce was out of this world. And the salmon cooked perfectly. I am so happy we chose this spot and think it's far better than some of the new/ trendy additions on Main St. Yum.

Coming to Cape Cod during the off season doesn't mean it's dead. I was at Quarterdeck two nights in a row because I was craving simply prepared fresh seafood. The Quarterdeck was one of the few places that was open into the later parts of the evening--coming from the city, some habits, like eating late, die hard. I tried many dishes over the two nights: clam chowder, haddock chowder, steamers, raw oysters, grilled grouper, boiled lobster, fried clams and oysters. It was quite tasty despite the off season. The lobster tail was tougher than expected, probably due to the season, but the rest like the arms/claws and the bits in the head were all phenomenally sweet and tender. Oysters were small but were full of flavor and juice. Same with the clams. The grouper was a little dry on the grilled side but was juicy in the center. It was alright. Clam chowder was a too thick and creamy with very few bits of potato or vegetable. It's almost straight cream. However, it had a great clam flavor to it. It was the only chowder (and I had many during my trip) that had substantial clam taste. The haddock chowder had a lot of flavor but was a thin soup. The best thing was the steamers. They were big and they were juicy. Tender and full of great ocean flavor. It was simple but probably the best thing I had during my trip. However, it was very sandy. I had to be very very careful chewing them. There was a warning on the menu but they were indeed very sandy. It tasted so good that I didn't really care though. One problem with this place is that is smells like piss. I think it's due to some of the wood that is used in the walls and ceiling. It's reclaimed and some from the 1600's. Yeah. Wood funk. The restaurant was modeled to look like below deck on a ship. Was this wood actually from a ship? That would explain the smell. The other really funny thing is that on both nights.. my girlfriend and I (we're both Chinese) were seated at what we call the Asian table. The dining table had a painting of koi fish with some Chinese lettering on the side. On the wall was a painting of another fish (I actually like this painting a lot, it looks like smears of mustard on dark wood... kind of nice) with additional Chinese lettering to the side. Thus, the Asian table. They say us there two nights in the row. It's probably the best table in the back of the restaurant but hilarious at the same time.

Great Rustic atmosphere, excellent service, large menu. I had the crab cake dinner and clam chowder. Chowder was excellent, creamy, lots of clams, very few potatoes, the crab cake dinner was a good portion size, and tasted like a crab cake should. I''ve been told by outsiders the Swordfish is excellent, will def. be back again. Wife and I went for a Winter time dinner date.

We wanted to go to the Quahog Republic for lunch, but they weren't opening until 3:00 pm. We asked the owner where else we should go and he recommended the Quarterdeck. When we arived, we were pleased when we were seated in the bar area, because other parts of the restaurant in the back were quite dark. We started with a cup of Clam Chowder and a cup of Bacon, Corn and Ham Chowder. Both were delicious. The menu was full of tasty-sounding selections, it was hard to pick our entrees. We finally decided on Fried Oysters, Fried Clams and Baked Scrod Newburg. While the wait seemed longer than it should have been, the food was hot and delicious. We would return when we return to Falmouth, also to watch all of the "regulars" sitting at the bar with the owner!

A stop on my yearly Cape trips! Consistently good service, drinks, and food. The Key Lime Martini is a yearly must for me, I look forward to it every year. The food is some of the best on the Cape for me. They have a good range of classic fried seafood dishes with the more refined options on their menu. We had the shrimp and yellowfin tuna ceviche for an appetizer and it was amazing! A dish I would always go for in my NYC favorite high end sushi spots, and it was even better here. Crab cakes were amazing. My mom had the seafood pot, and she was very happy. I'll be back next year!

I came here for dinner tonight for the first time. We only had to wait 10 minutes and were then seated downstairs. I was kinda surprised we had to wait, because there were plenty of tables open. We had to wait about another 10 minutes for our drink order. I ordered an arctic monkey, and it was delicious! For dinner, I got the Reuben, also delicious. We needed ketchup, and were going to order another round of drinks, but we didn't see our waitress again until we finished our dinner. A little disappointing, I really wanted to try the key lime martini. Aside from the slow service, everything else was superb. Will definitely be back, but for a Monday night that was not busy at all, I'm a little apprehensive about the slow service again

My wife and I were going to eat at this establishment for our anniversary. When we entered, there was a young girl standing there just staring at us. After about 10 seconds I said hello. Still staring at us my wife finally asked if we were suppose to seat ourselves? The girl replied UH! No! With quite the sassy attitude. Very dissapointed with the attitude. You only have one chance to make first impression. The food was ok . I was disappointed with the experience. Will not be returning.

Had a great dinner with my gf last night. We both had a cocktail (great pour). For a starter we had the steamers which were good. For dinner I had the salmon which was very very good and my gf had the shrimp/scallop scampi which she fully enjoyed. Our waitress Hannah was very attentive and knowledgable. I would have given it 5 stars but this older hostess (maybe owner) was a bit rude. However, I would recommend this place.

Two years in a row The Quarterdeck has accommodated our party of 16+ people at 30 minutes notice. The swordfish special (blackened) was really good and everyone enjoyed their various seafood dishes, (baked scallops, fish and chips, lobster pot pie, woods hole panini, baked stuffed shrimp) and they gladly accommodated a few custom orders, which we appreciated. Only minor complaints: service was slightly disjointed - probably cause of our large table and the one waitress we had, some of the baked dishes were too buttery, and on the special the waitress said the spinach was sautéed but it was actually raw. Raw spinach tasted good, but sautéed would have been better! All in all, family had a good time and we all left satisfied!

Always suspicious of places with too nice a decor. Don't be. Excellent food and terrific service. Went for Linnner (late lunch early dinner). Very good chowder and the scallop plate was rocking! My friend had a huge bowl of steamers which he devoured. He said it was one of the best he had.

I went here last night with a few friends. I was hugely disappointed. Although the menu looked welcoming and delicious, we waited 10 minutes to give an order for food after getting drinks, which was reasonable since the waitress was obviously and had a few too many tables. I ordered the crab stuffed sole filets with rice pilaf and green beans, an entree on there dinner special menu, hoping that would be good. Dinner rolls came about 15 minutes after drinks and only when we asked for them. Luckily they were hot and soft, the best part of the meal. After waiting around another 35-40 minutes for food, I received two filets of sole that were so overbreaded that I couldn't even taste the fish without scrubbing off all the breading. There was little to no crab meat within the two pieces of breading. The green beans were overdone and had too much butter on them. The rice pilaf was something decent, but nothing to make up for the other parts. I was not alone in my group in my dissatisfaction with dinner. Only the person who got a garden burger and another person who got a salad were satisfied. The person who got muscles with linguini had extremely small muscles and the linguini was overly soaked in a stratified marinara sauce with large oil droplets on the top and random pieces of canned tomato. The person who ordered the crab cakes thought they were overcooked and overly crispy throughout. I rate this restaurant two stars since the server was nice and was obviously working her butt off. Nonetheless, paying ~$30 dollars with tip (15%) was ridiculous and an utter waste of my time and money for the poorly made dish of food I received. I have had great food experiences so far in Falmouth and Woods Hole and am astonished that a restaurant like this can survive and have such a crowd in a place where people are actually willing to pay for a good dinner.

Scallops wrapped in bacon is the best app! I highly recommend getting the bake stuffed lobster! Unreal and huge! Stuffed with a nice breeding and loads of lobster! Service was excellent. If you are lucky enough to get Ariel as your server, the experience will be even more pleasant. Mud pie for dessert was just a great way to top off an already great experience! This place gets my vote and will again get my business! Thank you Ariel!

Wow. From now on I will only be ordering the haddock chowder, which is amazing. Thin broth, large chunks of fish, overall, delicious. The main entrees, however, are a disaster. I ordered a shrimp & pasta entree for $27 and what was served to me was reprehensible. I bit into one of the shrimp, and with no exaggeration, it tasted like it had been soaked in chemicals. I would have been better off sucking on a toilet brush. I could not get the taste out of my mouth even after ordering coffee to cleanse my afflicted palate. Clearly they choose to use cheap, farm-raised shrimp from vietnam that swim around in chemicals, antibiotics, & their own excrement, and it is evident in the quality of the food they serve. If you claim to be a seafood place, pay a little more for wild gulf shrimp that don't taste like Scrubbing Bubbles. WOOF. My wife ordered a scallop pasta special & got a giant piece of shell that almost broke her tooth. She was similarly put off by the whole thing. It's been 3 days and I'm still grossed out over the whole experience.

First off I must say the food was great and the interior is very creative but what makes this place unlikeable is one the service I had made a reservation for 9 ordered drinks and a few minutes after 10 is when I finally got them . And to top it all off the waiters are extremely rude well at least most of them . It's a decent price well for the most part at least. I recommend their baked stuffed shrimps or pan seared salmon it's very fresh and the taste is exquisite :) !

There are two parts to this rating, food and service. Food was great! Absolutely no complaints. We were a party of 8 and we all got the full Lobster Roll toasted and buttered. If you aren't that hungry the half will do just fine, full was two meals. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers like the calamari, Quahog Clam, and crab stuffed mushrooms. Personal favorite was the Quahog Clam, it was DELICIOUS! I also ordered the clam chowder and it was ok, nothing to write home about. Only other thing I didn't like was there were only 2 beers on tap, could have gone for a few more. Service was horrible. I understand are a party of 8 so things don't come out fast, I don't have a problem with that. I don't care that we went long stretches of time without ever seeing our waitress and thus without getting more drinks. What pissed all of us off was when the owner walked up and told us "to make sure to take care of our waitress, don't short change her." EXCUSE ME!?!? If we already hadn't worked out the bill and tipped her NINETY DOLLARS on a $270 bill, when she was absent most of the night, we would have taken half of it back. If the owner was trying to never have us come back, ever, he did a damn good job.

Was greeted by a very rude waitress upon arrival Ordered a drink and then she told us to hurry up and order as she was going to be getting busy...Since it was a Tuesday and the place was almost empty could not understand her pushing us to order....Anyway another NICE waitress took over our table and the meal ended up ok....Food was average ....very pricey....If you are a regular and live in the area you are treated like royalty!!!! If you are not keep walking by and go to Liam's.....

Great meal. Seated quickly on a Wed. night for 2. Would return for sure. Seafood was very good.

Our favorite restaurant! Always consistent, always great food & great service. Prime rib is fantastic-king size cut is ridiculous. Baked scallops are a huge serving as well-served right out of the oven in the ramekin-so good! Lobster stuffed mushrooms & clam chowder are our favorite apps. We take all our guests here & they can't wait to come back!

The Quarterdeck restaurant made me forget the very so-so experience I had in Woods Hole for dinner. The Quarterdeck is in Falmouth and as soon as you walk in the place you feel like you are on a ship due to the really old wooden beams from the 1600s. This place screams charm. The menu has a good selection of seafood which is what I was looking for. The fish ("schrod" - young haddock or cod) was fresh and had light breading on it and the portion was over half the plate! The veggies and mashed potatoes were good compliments. The only downside was they were out of the rum they barrell on site and didn't tell me until after I had drank one of the cocktails that supposedly had the rum in it. Be honest and let people know what they are ordering.

There is a downstairs bar and seating, so if it's a crazy long wait upstairs check out the basement. Not the best decor but quick service and yummy food. Highly recommend the lobster mushroom appetizer. The bread is totally outrageous - crusty crunchy, soft inside and served hot. Ordered the halibut special for main course. It was a generous well cooked portion though the mash potatoes and risotto were only mediocre.

Go somewhere else. Food is mediocre and overpriced. Service is slow and surly. Our waitress spilled an entire beer on me. No apology, just a defensive excuse. Manager comped the spilled beer and nothing else. (Yippee!) Spent the rest of the day damp and smelling like a damned brewery. This was our "let's give them another chance" visit. Got poor service last year too. Won't be back.

This places speciality is SEAFOOD! Fried, baked, broiled or steamed. It's always fresh any time of the year because they serve so much of it. The lobster roll is the best on the Cape period. They have other pub style food, steaks and prime rib. They used to have beef filets on the menu but I haven't seen that in several months, probably because it's too expensive even for a restaurant to buy. I would have given it a 5 but they are light on their mixed drinks and sometimes their waitresses can be snippy to each other and to customers. Definitely on the repeatable short list for awesome food at Falmouth restaurants.

I had a great lobster salad. The waitress was very kind and suggested the best dishes. Fish and lobsters are absolutely fresh.

Did a Sunday pick up of fish and chips then drove down to the water to watch the sea. I felt like Hemingway. Buy I got to eat the fish. It was good. And priced reasonably. With friendly service.

The seafood platter is very good. I'm not much of a fried food person, but if you get it gluten free, it is much lighter than the traditional fry. All in my party of 5 enjoyed their meals. Overall not outstanding but certainly a solid choice on Falmouth.

We had a very good dinner at the Quarterdeck while in Falmouth for the weekend. My husband had the Seafood Pot Pie and enjoyed it very much. The portions were large and the prices reasonable. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is quaint and consistently good. It's very cool inside as well. It almost looks like the inside of a ship and even has wood that dates back to the 1600s which I think is incredible. It also has this beautiful stained glass window in the back of the restaurant. We ate here twice on our past stay in Falmouth. Both times we had a delicious meal and service was good (although our waitress the first time was a little friendlier). Our first visit was for lunch and we each got a sandwich; I got the Reuben Grille and my fiance got the Tuscan Panini and each came with a side which we chose to have fries. Delicious fries and sandwiches! We then went back another day for lunch and my fiance got the fried seafood platter and I got the Reuben Grille which you may say is boring BUT it was just as good the second time! I truthfully was afraid that I might be disappointed by getting the same thing again but it was really delicious. I definitely recommend if you're in Falmouth Center and looking for fast yet friendly service with a filling meal.

I had the opportunity to have dinner at the Quarterdeck last weekend. I ordered the mussels marinara over linguini. The sauce was watery, and the mussels chewy. Would not order again. My guest ordered the specialty fish platter which I tasted and we both agreed the sauce over the fish was so salty you couldn't take another bite. Maybe a hamburger and beer would be good here, but forget the fish. I did tell the waitress, who was a nice young girl to share the information with the chef so that he could work on the recipes. We were very disappointed as we were there for one night and counted on YELP to give us the name of the best fish restaurant. Rethink your choice if you want to eat here.

While visiting the cape with family we ate here. The food was very good but not the best we had eaten all week while in the cape. And the service was slow.

We stopped there for Saturday dinner. The place was packed but they were able to squeeze us, even we had no reservation. The building is very old and very cool looking. A little bit dark but this makes the atmosphere so cool. Old pub like atmosphere. I was reading very good reviews about the food so we choose this place to eat. The food doesn't impress us. Very average food with above average price. The service was below the average. We ordered Clams Casino, Portuguese Kale Soup, Sweet Atlantic Sea Scallops and Lobster Roll. Only the Portuguese Kale Soup was outstanding, the rest not worth the trip. And the waiters forgot bring bread to our table. We found few better places around.

Just got the lobster sandwich which I was pretty happy with. I got it with a side of potato salad, I figured it was a better choice considering it was gonna travel for about 10 minutes and I'm not a big fan of soggy fries. All things considered I gotta eat there to give it more than 4...

I am a cape cod local and this place is excellent. A little on the pricey side, but it is most definitely worth it. The steak is very delicious and the soups are phenomenal as well. The Quarterdeck is a must-visit if you are visiting the Cape. As a local, I know that the service has been portrayed negatively in some reviews, but there is honestly just one sour waitress. Otherwise, the rest of the staff is friendly and helpful.

Seven of us had lunch here yesterday. Baked schrod, seafood platters, seafood pot pie. COLD! Raw broccoli, cold mashed potatoes, my schrod was warm.

Ventured to this establishment last night with my colleague and had a very positive experience. The staff was extremely hospitable and friendly. I was uncertain about some menu offerings and our waitress took her time to explain the menu offers. Some of the best customer service I have experienced in awhile, oh and try the jumbo stuffed shrimp! A wonderful experience.

This was such a wonderful spot with excellent waiting staff and a truly magnificent order of dinner. The scallops were simply stunning. Huge, sweet and perfectly cooked, the scallops had a superb crust on them as well. The meal was all around just superb.

This was the first place we tried in Famouth and really is more like a four. Ok I'm going to change it to a four. Ok. It is now a four. So we waited down at Liam's pub and nursed a Bloody Mary while we waited about 40 minutes for our table. We walked back and were seated almost right away. We went straight for the specials, ordering the halibut chowder, the clam chowder, the mixed seafood fry, and the stuffed lobster. I had never had halibut chowder, and I preferred it to the clam as it was less rich and creamy, so I traded my clam for George's halibut. As for the mains, the portions were enormous, and I almost could not finish everything. The key word is almost, as with diligence and patience one can accomplish almost anything. The bill was, by NY standards, ridiculously cheap and we will definitely be back-when in Falmouth.

When we were recently in the Cape visiting family, we had a hankering for some seafood, they had this in spades. The Chilled Seafood Sampler is the best deal in the house, everything tasted fresh and wonderful and boy was there a lot of it. The Chowder was exactly what you wanted, and a cup left room for the rest of the meal. The service was pleasant and warm, and the atmosphere was beautiful. The wood and stained glass made me want to be in a storm with candles. When you go out to eat in the Cape, this is the food that you want, in the place that you want it. (And it's not overly expensive!)

Our friends often go here for the famous good, juicy burgers; on the last visit the food was good but service was bad so they left a low tip. Most recently our friends returned for another chance at the burgers and were remembered by and accosted by the manager who said, "Our server doesn't want to serve you tonight because you left too small a tip the last time you were here." And this was said in front of a large group waiting for tables; my friends were quite embarrassed. Then the manager entered into a long and loud conversation with my friends, still in front of a large group of people waiting for tables. Our neighbors explained why they left a small tip on the previous visit due to the bad service; but how they left really nice tips on previous trips. The conversation degraded quickly. If the manager spent as much time addressing poor service as she did arguing with our friends, then this restaurant would be much better off. Our friends left quite angry, and will never go back. My wife and I used to go to this place to enjoy the burgers, but upon hearing our friends' story, will never go back. A one star rating is more than this restaurant deserves.

Wow....pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic and our waitress was just as good. Get the lazy man's baked lobster. It may have been the best seafood entree I have ever ordered. We did not get the prime rib but the table next to us did. It was huge! Will be back soon.

I loved this place! The prices are a bit on the high end for pub food but its seafood and sometimes its better to pay more for better food. If you dont like seafood, I would avoid the place, although my friend had the duck and he loved it. We started with calamari which was freshly battered. The gumbo was good, not anything memorable but filling and without complaints. I got the scallop salad for entre and it was a good size but I felt too full after the calamari and gumbo. I was I had my room in my stomach because the scallops were really yummy. I recommend doing the dressing on the side because there's enough flavor without adding the lemony butter to the mix. Service is kinda snotty, and it was slightly frustrated cause we had a bit group of 8 and they were definitely not prepared nor wanting to be prepared for our lot.

This place is rather dumpy and not clean. The shrimp I ordered was soaking in it's own grease and pretty nasty overall. Nobody at our table thought the food was good. Would not receommend at all. They get business since there is so few places to eat there.

My newest favorite Cape Cod restaurant. Small, cozy, shades of the colonial taverns in Williamsburg, VA. Extremely friendly, professional, and efficient staff. We'd been tipped off to try the lobster salad. Had to contain more than 3/4-pound of fresh lobster meat and came with cole slaw. Was about all one could eat. Would recommend it to any seafood lover.

Went here for dinner and enjoyed the ambience and friendly people and staff as much as the food. Place was packed so sat by the bar. Irish band was playing and ppl were getting up to dance which was very entertaining. In terms of food they gave huge portions so split the stuffed shrimp with a friend and each of us was given our own sides which was great. Also had the crabcake. It was good enough but I'm always looking for one which has more of the lump crab than the breading. Overall great time.

We had lunch in the restaurant. The food was good. Lobster roll and clam chowder were good, the sword fish was a bit dry. Restaurant is not stroller friendly, had to argue with the hostess to let us in. She was claiming that the place is to small for strollers .

I cannot believe this restaurant only gets 3.5 stars. I'm sorry... what?? My family ate here twice while they were in town - and the second time we waited over an hour. Everybody loved their clam chowder, which had more flavor than most (it was herby and almost cheesy), but the real obsession for them was the scallop salad. The scallops were grilled to perfection. My personal favorite, that I think everyone will order next time, is the lobster roll ("lobster salad" sandwich). I did find myself removing a few tougher pieces of claw meat but there was still PLENTY left over making the best lobster roll I've EVER had - the dressing was perfection, the rest of the meat was tender and flavorful, the celery added perfect crunch. It would have been big enough to split with someone if we both got chowder - which would have been the perfect lunch. Notably, these very entrees (lobster roll and scallop salad) are mainly what people have posted as photos under Quarterdeck's yelp. I'm posting my own as well, but I think no further question remains: Order these! Clearly, people loved them. Bonus: The chocolate cream pie was great, very intense and not too sweet. The pasta dish I had (with balsamic tomatoes and chicken) was also great. We really loved this restaurant. Judging from the line the second time we went - which was weekday lunch on off-season - it seems the locals agree.

Love the decoration, especially the cute hanging fish skeletons! Started off with the quahogs, which were jam-packed with flavor (not a millimeter to spare!). The seared scallops were quite unique, might I say "jam-packed" with butter? The halibut was nonmemorable, but was nicely paired with vegetables AND rice pilaf.

This place deserves 5 stars for the two main aspects of a dining experience: the food, and the service. We were in town, visiting from Boston with my parents who were visiting us from Los Angeles. Total party included 4 adults and two children aged 2 and 3.5. FOOD: 3 of us got the scrod and my dad got the swordfish, all of it perfect. Serving sizes were large. The kids shared the pizza bites and chicken fingers. The mashed potatos were insane and the fries were excellent. The calamari as appetizers were delicious and came with peppers that were exquisite. SERVICE: From the young woman who seated us to our outgoing, experienced waitress to the manager who shipped our lost camera back to us, everyone went above and beyond in making sure our experience was the best. We had accidentally left our camera there and it wasn't until we returned to Boston when we realized that it had been left in the restaurant. We made a quick call to the restaurant and a few days later our camera arrived. SO incredible helpful! Thank you again and we can't wait to come back when we're in town.

What a great find in Falmouth, The seafood was very fresh and service was spot on. My only small complaint would be the steamers could have used one more rinse before cooking. Other wise a great experiance!!!
