Nice little Greek restaurant within a 10 minute walk of the Boston Museum of Science. When you order at the counter, the owner towers about 5 feet over you, making you feel like you're looking up at a giant. Her daughter was also present and entertaining to watch. The french fries were deliciously double fried! I got the roast beef too. It was good, but not quite the bees knees as everyone else said. Price is not bad

Not really sure why this place has 4 stars... *bewildered* My dad and I ordered their chicken parm dinner and it was so dry and flavorless. The garlic bread was just a sub roll with garlic salt and melted butter... also dry and flavorless. Def, won't be going back. Sad, I had high hopes with all the high reviews. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish... ??? Definitely don't order the chicken parm, if you do... keep low expectations and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised! Lol... Trying to keep it positive here! :-P

Came here and got a kabob chicken feta salad. Although the food was plentiful, both the veggies and meat, it just wasn't really good. Flavor was blah and the salad wasn't very interesting. Pieces of chicken and cheese were huge. More quantity than quality. Maybe the burgers were better.

Stopped in here while waiting for a funerals calling hours down the street. Either they just opened for the day or their heat wasn't working as it was freezing (it was winter). There were 4 of us and we each got something different, most was "fair'. I had a roast beef sandwich as that seemed to be their specialty but it was just OK, someone else has mozzarella sticks but they seemed like they had cooked them for too long, they looked overdone.

Typical sub-urban sandwich shop. Good reasonably priced menu selection with fast friendly service. Seems to be a popular stop for locals to the area.

Stay away from this place if you can. The lady here was so rude to this other customer cause the younger girl did not charge him for the Fries he asked for. She was like are you going to pay for the fries or are you stealing them. Who talks to the customer like that. I was discussed! Now I am at home running to the bathroom every 10 minutes or so. My advice if you value being respected and don't like spending alot of time in the bathroom then just skip this place.

I've never been to a restaurant with such poor service towards customers. The ladies at the counter act as though it's a privilege to eat here and are rude to local students, not allowing them to sit, despite being paying customers. I'd rather eat anywhere else in Cambridge. The food is mediocre at best and not worth the prices or the hassle of interacting with the staff.

Cheap, Quick, and on point! The Woman who runs this place always takes care of my coworkers and I when we order from here. The Super beef three way is enormous and delicious! The fries are crispy and tasty without salt and ketchup. The Salads are huge! And that home made salad dressing is to die for!

Stopped in here randomly for a bite to eat. Ordered super cheesey pizza and my friend had a sandwich and fries. The food was really good, a bit greasy but hey that's what were looking for that day! The prices are definitely decent! The portions are gigantic! We definitely couldn't eat everything (which is not necessarily a bad thing I guess). The service is really friendly! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they close so early! I'm a bit of a night owl and when I want pizza late I would love to order from here, I just can't! Otherwise I have no complaints and highly recommend!

Skampa was my first meal in our then-new neighborhood, and boy, did I order wrong. The "famous roast beef" does not apply to the subs, so my first impression was greyish meat slopped with a ridiculous amount of mayo on a flavorless white roll. It was so disappointing, I didn't return for another 2 and a half years. Fortunately for Skampa, I was sick of all the other neighborhood delivery options one night and decided perhaps I judged too harshly (also: free delivery is enticing). Reading the menu online, I realized the error of my ways. For the North Shore style roast beef on an onion roll, one must order the super beef sandwich - not the regular beef, and definitely not the sub. Customize with sauce, pickles, onions, etc. and baby, you got a sandwich going! The good medium rare slices are obviously reserved for the hot sandwiches, so perhaps the confusing sub option is simply to use up the overcooked ends. Haven't tried any pizza or calzone options, but a steak tip salad was passable, if a bit light on the tips. Order very specifically at Skampa, and you'll end up with a pretty solid meal for short money.

Boyfriend brought me here for roast beef as a break from Kelly's.... Boooooomb-a-lomb-a-ding-dong. So SO good. Sloppy and saucy just how I like it. Kelly's is great but if your sandwich doesn't come needing a diaper well you need a big old thing of sauce to add to it! Skampa's serves them saucy and it's amazing. Atmosphere's nothing special but really who the hell cares? Just give me all the spicy bbq and I'll be on my way.

Love this place. I see a lot of people complaining about the pasta dishes, but why in the name of God would you get pasta from a sub shop? Things I love about this place: Definitely a mom and pop shop and it's run by a husband and wife. The wife always greets you with a "what would you like hunny?" SKAMPA HEALTHY SUB ON A PITABREAD.I know, you'll read it and think that really sounds boring, but try it. I don't know what kind of drugs they put in this sandwich but I keep coming back for it. Best sandwich they make next to their roast beef! CHEAP ! You get a crazy amount of food when you get a dinner (rice, onion rings, salad and a desert for like 10 bucks. The pizza's kind of are bad but huge slices (1/4 of a pizza) and I am pretty sure they offer a one topping lunch special pizza afor 4.99 with a drink. The buffallo chicken sandwich is also REALLY good for 4 dollars or so. The roast beef is in a category all in itself. Just get the bbq sauce and mayo like they normally put it. Oh boy. Definitely my favorite delivery / quick takeout place in East Cambridge.

Best roast beef in the city. I try to eat here at least once a month. The hot super beef is freaking amazing. Get a large order of fries to share and you are all set. The rest of the food is great too, pizza has always been good. I order the roast beef and my eyes never wander.

I ordered a chicken parm from this place the other day and it was awful. I don't know if the chicken was bad or the marinera sauce was rancid but I could barely choke down more than two bites before I had to toss it. My roommates liked their calzones but I'm bitter I wasted 8 dollars between the sandwich and delivery tip and I don't think I'll give it a second chance.

Things on the menu I can safely recommend: the cheesesteak, the roast beef, the BLT, the grilled chicken sandwich, garlic bread.... The salads are also good, and come with a big homemade pita. Avoid the hamburger, chicken parm, pizza. They don't season anything, so there's no flavor. But the things recommended above are quality and come in huge portions. They also deliver extremely quickly, which is a big plus.

This place is awesome! Might be the most inexpensive meal I've had in Cambridge. Ever. They had a great deal on an tasty buffalo chicken sandwich and it came with perfectly crunchy fries and a soda all for 5 bucks! And this was at dinner. It's a really low key take out place with plenty of seats and Wi-Fi. The owners and employees were EXTREMELY nice. It's a shame I don't live close, otherwise I'd be here all the time. Check it out if you're close.

Two guys walk into Skampa, shirtless... I think, "They'll be kicked out immediately, right?" I know the age-old restaurant/store adage, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service!" Well, they're still in there! Does no one notice?!? It's not even the dead of summer yet, it's 65° today! Unsanitary and gross, that's all.

I thought that this place would be at least decent considering the reviews I had read but boy was I wrong. I ordered a chicken broccoli ziti expecting the pasta dish to come in that traditional creamy Alfredo sauce. I even went as far as to ask the lady over the phone and she assured me that it did. Of course, it didn't. After taking way too long to arrive, the pasta had no sauce, unless you count the puddle of grease it was sitting in. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed. I might give them a chance in the future but definitely not with anything pasta related.

Great roast beef and the french fries are the best in the area... Pizza is great also and the dinner plates come loaded with food... Great price for great food...

Really good roast beef. It's the only thing I've ever had here so that's all I can really base this review on but lets just say that I've been searching for a good roast beef place for a while now (where did they all go anyway?) and this one came as a pleasant surprise. Don't let the looks of the place fool you (not the kind of place you want to hang around very long) the roast beef is moist and perfectly cooked.

I have gotten lunch from Skampa dozens of times, and the food is always great. The owners are also really nice too and usually deliver the food themselves. I've ironically never had the roast beef, but man do they make a good BLT wrap!

How can you NOT love this place. I live nearby and have become a regular. Each time I try something, I think, THIS IS GREAT, and want to keep ordering the same thing. But I've talked myself into trying different things, and they have all been wonderful too. Favorites include the roast beef sandwich and the calzone (broccoli-cheese is my favorite, but I'm still experimenting). I also like that it is such a friendly place.

I was skeptical, but the super roast beef sandwich is surprisingly good. The joint looks like your run-of-the-mill takeout with pizza, burgers, sandwiches and what-not on the aging menu. The roast beef was incredibly tender, and actually very fresh-tasting. Enjoy this sammy on the onion roll (the 'super' option), you won't be disappointed. Can't comment on the other items, but there's really no reason to do much exploring here. Go with what is done best :)

Skampa's quality is average, but they offer a large pizza that comes with two sodas for only $8 which is a great deal. It's a great option in this area.

Stopped by for lunch today. All I can say is -- seriously RIDICULOUS roast beef sandwich. I got the super roast beef sandwich and fries and initially said there's no way I'm going to eat this whole sandwich. Then I took a bite. Needless to say the sandwich was gone within about 2 minutes (if that.) On it was: cheese, pickles, bbq sauce and heaps of roast beef. Great combination. The bread was nice and soft. The fries were pretty good too, nice and crispy and had some flavor, appreciated the tzatziki sauce that came out with the fries too. We came in at 1, there was no wait, food came out pretty quick, the lady in the yellow apron was friendly. The place is clean. They even had an HD TV hanging on the wall (wouldn't have expected that from a place like this.) Not really the most amazing ambiance but it's not unique enough to be that really quaint hole in the wall. Regardless the food is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! Get the roast beef sandwich!

Skampa has recently raised their rates so it's now more of a $7 dalliance with a pizza. Not as much of a bargain, for sure, but it still does the trick when you are hungry. And the exterior of this place, including the back door, sidewalks and complete dumping ground in the back needs a real cleaning. It's trashy looking. Delivery is prompt but I'm growing less satisfied with their pizza. Aram's is now our preferred East Cambridge pizza spot.

Our food was GREAT- amazing roast beef (would go lighter on the mayo/mustard next time) and tuna wrap, killer fries! The woman that served us was also very friendly and offered good suggestions, as well as went above and beyond helping us with requests for more napkins, to-go boxes etc. Price wasn't the cheapest but definitely worth it! Atmosphere was meh, but who cares when the food is that good.

This was the best roast beef sandwich I have ever had. Tender soft onion roll that appeared to have been lightly grilled on the sides that touch the roast beef. Roast beef was the most tender, melt in your mouth I have had. BBQ sauce has got to be an original recipe because it is not sugary sweet at all, nice smokey flavor with a little kick. I got mine with mozz cheese and based on how the cheese looked on the roll, it was freshly shredded. Fries were ordered well done but nice and chewy with a little crispiness. Price was around $9 (including tax and tip- got it delivered). AH- MAZ- ING. I will be back!

Good pizza at fantastic prices. Toppings are great and fresh - I especially appreciate the fresh mushrooms. The waitstaff are super-friendly. On the downside, the pizza is generally a little undercooked with kind of a doughy crust. Taking it home and popping it in the oven for a few more minutes helps things, but it's kind of inconvenient to have to do this.

Ok...four stars is a bit of a stretch but its hard for me not to like this place. Their steak and cheese was good and their roast beef was, dare I say, great. Oh and I like their fries. Place is a hole in the wall but has a great vibe. Also has a strong following of young, poor and hungry males which tells you all you need to know about portion size and value for the money.

Oh Skampa, I used to love you so much more. But somewhere along the way you lost your way a little bit. You always offered mountains of good food at a super cheap prices. But then I think maybe you started to think that to keep up with competition you thought that the best way to do that was drop your prices to CRAZY low prices (you actually call it "Pizza CrAzE" according to your menu), but to do so drop your standards. Your pizzas went from slightly small, but scrumptious thin crust, artful pies to super doughy with lower-quality tasting cheese. Bigger does not always equal better. With that being said, even with slightly declined standards, your food is still pretty good for the price. I think you've succeeded if your goal was to get customers to go to your restaurant for your prices, but unfortunately I used to go for the great food AND low price, but now it's more like when I want to eat for cheap. You were a 4-star for sure like 3 years ago and earlier, but now I think I have to go for the 3. Sorry. It pains me to do, especially since your owners/employees seem extremely hard working, friendly, and just trying to get by in an extremely difficult industry.

I once thought if they raised the pizza price to $7 I would be all gruff about it. Skampa is the rare honest, nice, home made greasy spoon family made fare. The value is rid. to the quality and taste of the food. Skampa pizza is better, healthier, and tastier than say dominos, plus cheaper. It's nice to see a business that is trying hard and delivering the best value and quality they can. In the $ range, they're ballers.

Skampa is a total neighborhood type sub shop. The pizza which is $4 for a small and $6 for a large after 3 or 4 pm daily, is one of the best deals in the neighborhood. While not the best pie I've ever had, it's certainly more than edible. I've also tried the roast beef that everyone on yelp was raving about. It was above average but I felt like the toppings they had was really limited. I am a fan of horse radish and they just don't have that. The BBQ/mayo combination isn't really my cup of tea, so next time I'll go for plain. It's a generous portion for what you pay. Even the junior size can be a meal in itself. Prices are really good. Food is ok. Great if you're in the neighborhood but not worth going out of your way for.

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. I have had many things here including the calzones, salads, and roast beef. I was sorely disappointed in the roast beef as it wasn't very warm, hardly any flavor, and it just was sad. They do have delicious salads with yummy dressing that I love to dip my bread into. The calzones are large and filling but you will need to ask for extra sauce. The prices are reasonable but they take cash only. This was always a pain for me because I always use my debit card. However, if I did have $10 - I would be walking up the street to get one of those salads with chicken.

I wish I could give them a good review but.....they delivered our food really late, I got the teeniest roast beef sandwich ever (think McDonalds hamburger size) even though I ordered a large and then I spent 3 hours wishing I hadn't eaten it. Quite disappointed.

Oh Skampa. I'd heard so much about you and your $3.99 pizza sounds too good to be true. I don't know where I went wrong. Was it the fact that I only ordered the large roast beef and not the super? Or that I asked the nice lady working the register what toppings I should get (cheese, sauce, tomato)? Good size for the price and the roast beef was tender but not as flavorful as I expected. And although the bun was warm, the meat was cool. The fries were good though. Maybe I'll try the pizza next time.

Great pizza! Unbeatable price! I am not a roast beef fan, so I cannot comment on that. When I come here I stick to the pizza. Tried a salad and the chicken tenders once... eh, nothing special. But... the pizza... the pizza is the BEST around!! The small size is big enough for a few meals for me, its got a nice thick crust with those bubbles that poke through a thick layer of delicious red sauce and some crispy cheese. If you like green peppers, they cook them perfectly crisp on top... YUM! Oh, and this size is always under 5 bucks with topping! PS. Staff is super friendly and always chipper!

when i'm drunk, poor and angry at the world... i stumble to skampa with a five dollar bill and order a cash-only, usually somewhat undercooked but nevertheless edible cheese pizza. then i kick an old person, spit on a baby, evaluate my choices and feel much better. *great non-greasy crust- [bread stick bliss] super greasy middle though

Well... since this week wasn't pay week. I'm on a budget and a mission to find somewhere that is cheap, close, and best reviewed. As I left work for lunch and stroll down Cambridge St. I didn't want to go to the mall because... it's "mall food". My other option was the new chinese restaurant that replaced old korean place. Before I left I checked Google Maps to see how far was the walking distance, but in reality.. It was further more than I thought. Right before giving up, I see Skampa up ahead and the corner. I see the sign and the words "Roast Beef" which drew my attention. So I went inside and scope out their menu. I'm like Wow, there is a place that is affordable. So I ordered up the Roast Beef Special Menu. Not knowing what to choose for the toppings. The counter lady suggested that I try the BBQ Sauce with Cheese. In which I did... can't go wrong without a recommendation. So I got that, and fries to accommodate my sandwich. Once I got my meal, I quickly notice how my fries look awesome. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the inside... Ohhhh boy, my mouth is watering. As I sat down, I quickly gobble some fries with ketchup and then unwrap this pure goodness of a sandwich, Roast Beef. Happy and bliss, I took one big out of it, and just like Keanu Reeves... It was like.... whoa...... The sandwich was packed up and the meat and toppings are hanging on to dear life on the bun. As I enjoy my lunch, I also watched a little bit of the Ryders Cup... (can't go wrong with free cable) After finishing up my meal and head out. The lady on the counter asked how was it. I told her it was excellent. She replied., "Next time you come, try our Super Roast Beef", which is on a bulk onion roll... I responded, "I'll do that" smiled and left. It poured so hard that now I'm completely soaked. But when I think about it, was it worth it? I said to myself... yes. Overall, I will be back.. since it one of the cheap eats in East Cambridge. Note that they only accept cash, so if you need cash, they also have an ATM inside. How convenient!

5 bucks, cash only, cheese pizzas... or to be more specific, often undercooked, messy, doughy cheese pizzas, unless you order them well done, in which case it's a 50/50 chance of either being perfect or being burned. I'm not going to complain angrily about 5 dollar cheese pizzas, because I feel like that would be like shooting myself in the foot, but I'm not jumping for joy either. a-ok pretty much covers it. So when i'm poor and tired, I get iffy pizzas at skampa for next to nothing.

I don't know my way around Boston...I was lost and hungry. I pulled over because there was parking but I wasn't expecting anything special and misjudged.... THE BEST PASTRAMI SANDWICH EVER! YUM!

Hard to put this place at 3 or 4 stars. They have the absolute cheapest pizza that I have ever seen. $5.99 for a large pizza... and that is an ACTUAL large not some personal pan large pizza from a chain. At that price, I've never been able to order anything but pizza! The pizza is decent but certainly not the best in the area. Great when fresh and hot though (most pizza is). I thought it was good, but the rest of my party was divided. Definitely a good place to go if you want pizza and don't want to spend much cash. Based on the other reviews I'll have to check out their sandwiches as well.

The roast beef sandwiches at Skampa need to come with the following warning label attached, as I was totally unprepared for them: WARNING: The contents of this sandwich may be incredibly saucy. Side effects of consuming this sandwich include, but are not limited to, sticky fingers, BBQ-flavored burps, stained clothing, saucy grins, sudden feelings of contentment, and short-term food comas. Do not consume this sandwich alone, as it may be necessary for someone to drag you back to your place of work after consumption. Please consume in moderation. I would imagine their other products will need similar warnings, but I have yet to find out. Others have also mentioned it, but the prices are at depression-era levels here, they really can't be beat. Add to this the adorable, cheery woman in a pink diner shirt taking orders, and you have yourself a real winner.

Love this place! For under $10 you can get a great meal. Try their chicken dishes, very juicy and tasty. For some extra comfort try their fries with their signature tzatziki sauce. Finger licking good. And if you're feeling hungry, go ahead and get a side of their rice budding or a slice of baklava. The place is run by a dynamic husband and wife duo who treat you like you're in their own kitchen. The place is lovely, very clean, well maintained with comfortable tables and lots of places to sit. Food - 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars Service - 5 stars

This place is so close to my house it's amazing that I don't come here more often. At first it seemed like it was mainly because they are cash only and I am a plastic carrying person. Also, if a place is pimping their roast beef we're probably not going to get along. Well turns out I've been missed the best effing fries on earth. Damn these things are good. I mean, I'm sitting here cursing the fact that I don't have cash on me and it's negative eleventy million (23 whatever) degrees outside so I'm surely not running to the ATM, they are that good. I can't speak to much else here, fries: delicious, mozz sticks: yummy, everything else? Not sure. I can tell you that the people who work here are super sweet, always with a kind word and a smile, the cops in our neighborhood frequent this place so that has to mean something, the restaurant is always very clean, and they keep weird hours. Oh, and they shovel their sidewalks. Very important info there. So yeah, come for the fries. Or beef if that's your thing.

Looking for a local place to deliver pizza for a quick office meeting. They were nice and right on time - when I asked them to be here at 3:00 they were here at 2:55. Slices are huge and everything came in piping hot, and the customer service was excellent. On to the negatives .. I ordered 3 large pizzas and they got 2 wrong. Didn't call them to let them know simply because I needed the pizza *right now* for the meeting. Also, they're a cash-only establishment, which is so very mom-and-pop of them, but also frustrating in a world where I have to beg coworkers for cash since an ATM is oh so far. Good taste, normal menu, super super cheap.

Food is decent and it's like they got a book on how to make food like pretty much any other pizza/sub shop in Boston and follow it to a T. I probably won't be back because of a service issue which rubbed me the wrong way. Plenty of other places that make the exact same items, pretty much on every block in this neighborhood.

$3.99 for pizza...can you get anything better than that?! and it tastes so good, you wouldn't know it cost $3.99! ANNNND the roast beef sandwiches are great, as advertised. the interior has linoleum walls and floors, (not the best ambiance) so i've always had take-out from here. it's in a very convenient location, and is my go-to place for cheap fast yummy food!

my first experience with skampa started off on the wrong note, through no fault of the restaurant. having lived in the neighborhood for several years, i wanted to try their roast beef, thanks to their slogan, "real men eat it pink." i made the decision to try out their famous roast beef sandwich today. i walked into the empty restaurant where a man was reading something at the counter, who summoned the woman behind the counter. i asked what the difference is between the large roast beef and the super roast beef. the onion bulkie roll is served with the super, as opposed to a regular hamburger bun. to top off the roast beef, you have your choice of bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. i decided to get the super roast beef to go. at $6.38, i didn't think it was that economical. average price of a sandwich. in eager anticipation [and hunger], i pulled out the sandwich, which promptly landed on the floor. the sandwich itself was not in a bag, but wrapped in wax paper. i was distracted by the fries which were also thrown in the bag, but were the crispy fries that i love. oh well, five second rule.

Rooooaaaasst Beeeeeeeeeef. cooked medium rare almost to perfection with a sweet, tangy sauce served in a scrumptous onion roll all cooked just for you for under $6. The fries are delicious as well but a bit to rich and greasy for my personal taste. The ultra nice and helpful staff makes this a perfect spot for a grab and go meal.

I was looking for a place to eat near my hotel and found this place. I got a small spinach calzone (which was actually 12", and only $7). It was jampacked full of spinach, some onions, cheese, and sauce. Pretty tasty!

Swoon... When the woman at the counter calls me honey, I go weak in the knees, I start to stutter, my forehead gets clammy, my arms get all goosepimply, and I'm sure my face turns beet red. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Albanian accents. I must confess my adoration for Skampa is split 50/50 between their succulent roast beef and my schoolboy crush on my Albanian succubus. Sadly, I pretty much steer way clear of here these days, for fear that her husband will come after me with a meat cleaver.... *sigh*

I have a distinct advantage to most posters on this place, I live in all actually right next door to this place. On a cold day I can go get dinner and not need to worry about bringing my coat, I'm just not outside that long enough to get cold. So by association, since I live so close to Skampa, I eat there all the time, and I'm always happy with what I've gotten. Let's start with the roast beef, it's mucho delicious. Cooked just right, full of flavor and just a perfect definition of what roast beef should be. Now let me tell you about roast beefs cousin, the pastrami. What a savory treat I find in pastrami. As much flavor as the roast beef has, the pastrami multiplies that by a gizzilion times over. Finally, I'll talk about my new favorite, their calzones. Full of meets and cheeses with just the right amount of crust to hold it all together without feeling overly chewy. And cheep, you can get a "small" calzone for roughly the same price as their roast beef or pastrami sandwich for twice as much food.

Yummy Steak Sub (roast beef = tender yumminess) - HUGE. Regular Roast Beef Sandwich = yummy, but "small" compared to sub... Fries = sometimes yummy and sometimes cold... Will definitely keep ordering, and maybe try the pizza. They deliver.

Okay, got you all beat. I fly up from DC to Cambridge just to have Skampa's Super Roast Beef! The Super comes on an onion roll, with tangy sauce and just moist roast beef. If you ask, they'll even put some mayo in there for you. Oh, yes, fresh made baklava as well!

I happened upon Skampa a year ago while searching for a futon at the nearby Boston Bed Company. I was starving at the time, so I really had no qualms about stopping in this unspectacular looking corner deli for something to eat. Much to my amazement, the sandwiches were actually very good. I marked Skampa down on my mental list of good sandwich shops and promptly forgot about it. These days I get to Skampa fairly regularly as I now live only a block away. The Super Pastrami sandwiches and the extremely cheap pizza specials keep me coming back for the occasional lunch or pizza night. As some of noted, the pizza can be very good. They have a good sense for a crispy, yet moist crust. However, and I haven't yet figured out why, I've found that these pizzas need to be consumed quickly; they can get soggy and unappetizing after about 15 or 20 minutes. I think some of this boils down to ordering the right toppings (e.g. simple combinations like pepperoni and sausage), Skampa is one of those good places every neighborhood needs. The portions are large, the prices are affordable, and the food is surprisingly good. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to to get something here, but it is a good choice if you're in the area.

Reallly friendly staff and we're definitely a fan of this place for an affordable, grad school weeknight meal. We favor the calzones especially the Italian bomb and the chicken with broccoli... Really yummy!

Whoa... you went to the trouble of Yelping Skampa?!? Obviously, you are dead set on a meal of fail safe comfort foods, have made the noble choice of going local, but are stuck trying to decide between Aram's 2 and Skampa. Unless you really want something dirty (not unclean dirty -- Twin Donuts dirty) for the young man's fun of it/to test your iron stomach, Skampa is def the way to go. It's just a hair more expensive, but also a much politer sort of sub/pasta/pie shop. They have all of the standards, prepared a little above average, in a setting that is way above average (i.e. standing in there, you will not feel as if you are growing a new layer of grease-skin). Also, a lot less exposed chest hair and general skeeviness than the Aram's staff. Hey now! The only negative I can figure is that they keep really weird hours -- they seem to be closed almost every time I walk by, which is approximately 4 times a week.

I really like this place. I've been going here for about two years, starting when I discovered they had $4 individual and $6 large pizzas! What kept me coming back was how nice they are - everyone is so friendly and helpful at Skampa. I've tried the roast beef sandwiches and they are really good, and I've had the healthy Skampa sandwich which is good, and on the healthier side. I've also had the salads and they are solid, and the large is really big. They just raised the pizza price, but if you order by text message, you can get the old prices still (the info is on their web page goskampa.com )

So, true confessions...the only thing I've ever had here is their slice of cheese pizza...OH my goodness...sooo yummy for a quick bite. Their crust is obnoxiously perfect and chewy every time and they only use this crazy imported Italian cheese...it must have some magical ingredient, because I can't figure it out... If you enjoy pizza at all, its worth a try... You know what they say about pizza though? It's kind of like sex..."when it's good, it's REALLY good. And when it's bad, it's still pretty good"... haha

I wasn't craving a roast beef sandwich, then I lazily stumbled into a yelp chat thread debating the best RB sandwiches around, and suddenly I NEEDED one. I bookmarked every place discussed, but settled on Skampa since it's just a short bike ride from my house. It was definitely one of the best roast beef sandwiches I've ever had. I had it with sauce and onions, and the sauce was so tangy and just a little bit spicy. And the roast beef itself was silky and delicious.

I went here recently with a friend and they are a solid sandwich shop. I got a small roast beef sandwich, I think my friend got a pastrami sandwich. It was definitely tasty, though not mind blowing. Cash only is a down side, but the employees were ridiculously friendly and make you feel very welcome. The random fries in the bottom of my take out bag made me laugh, too!

Decent. I live right near this place and it definitely is where all the police and lawyers flock to for lunch. You can order pizza rolls and nice big piece of square pizza on the cheap I always get the chicken on rice pilaf and SO gets chicken wings dinner. You get salad and rice pudding as well Decent food if you live near by. I wouldn't go out of my way. BTW They ALWAYS forget something in our order. Mostly sauces.......we still come back though, so that must say something.

I consider myself a Boston-area roast beef connoisseur, having grown up on the stuff from places in the city and throughout the North Shore. Skampa's roast beef is AMAZING -- in my opinion the best in the city proper. Get a super beef with cheese and sauce, comes on an onion roll as soft as grandma's belly. The other items on their menu...er...not so much. Fries and onion rings taste like oil deep fried in oil -- I could feel my arteries hardening with each bite. Their pasta dinners are huge and cheap -- taste isn't anything to write home about, but they're OK. If you want to shovel a pound or two of food into your mouth I suppose they're not a bad option.

Cheap pizza. $5.99 (+tax) for a large. Pizza is good for the price, and certainly worth more than the $5.99 price. Gourmet pizza it is not. It is great for dinner on a "stay-in" friday night after finishing a long and tiring work week.

This place is SO VALUE. For under 7 bucks (That's only 14 packages of Top Ramen) you get a huge delicious pizza that's made by incredibly nice people.

Now that I've moved out of the 'hood, I will definitely miss their $7 (with tax) large cheese pizza special... not the best pizza I've ever had, but you can't really beat that for a quick & cheap dinner! I hear their roast beef is pretty good too, though I'm not a fan in general.

Eating dinner from Skampa is buying a ticket to Heartburn City. A Skampa dinner starts off with one of at least a dozen kinds of sandwich. Roast beef, which has been raved about in prior reviews, is as good (and tender and moist) as advertised. Seafood--which is what this eatery claims to specialize in--takes up as much of the menu as the grinders. I'll try it next time. What puts the Skampa seal on the deal is the sides. With each dinner you get fries, onion rings, rice and pudding. Yes, that's AND--not OR. You're best off putting aside 4/5 of that for the next day. All this plus the main dish for $8. Inexplicable. The interior is modest and clean, certainly not as grimy as other reviews would have you believe.

OK, I've been up and down the North Shore looking for the ultimate beef sandwich from Beverly to Lynn, Revere to Melrose and I was elated to have one of the BEST roast beef sandwiches I've had right in my own backyard. The beef was as warm and tender as anything I've had outside of Nicks' Famous in Beverly. I also got a decent if not memorable slice of pizza. I noted that they have pizza specials every day after 3:30 that were ridiculously cheap but go for the roast beef. It was quiet when I was there but the staff was super efficient and friendly. I'll be back to try the fries next time!!

I wouldn't eat here per se, because i don't like grease stains on my clothes. The super beef sandwich on an onion roll with extra crack-laden sauce is delicious, though. It's been a while since I clutched one of these in a grease-soaked brown paper bag, it's definitely time to go.

This is one of the two restaurants that is putting east cambridge back on the map, next to the east side bar and grille on the corner of seventh and cambridge. Best calzones and roast beef sandwiches I have ever tasted. Furthermore, I have yet to meet a more courteous staff at a short-order restaurant in my life.

Steak bomb - bomb Roast beef - rare & saucy Calzone - large pizza folded in half Prices - cheap People - friendly A class act all around. An example to sub shops everywhere.

For the Money this is one of the best. What a great little family owned greek sandwhich, pizza, dinners, seafood places around. Best deal is the $3.99 12" and $5.99 18" pizzas. Not many places can compete with that. I also enjoy there "special" meals. Homemade chicken and rice pilaf for $5.50 with two different side sauces. Fantastic deal.

Yuuuuuuummmy roast beef! The Super Beef comes on an Onion Bun, while smaller roast beef sandwiches come on a regular bun. It's excellent roast beef. The fries are hit-and-miss - sometimes tasty, crispy, and wonderful and sometimes a limp, soggy mess. At only $1 for a small (which is huge - same size as a large at a fast food joint) you can always get them and throw them away if they're not good. Small restaurant and very hot in the summer, so get it to go. But I haven't found roast beef that can beat it in the Boston area.

Oooh, I love Skampa. I've only had the amazing and enormous roast beef sandwiches and the delicious onion rings. I bet the other stuff is good but I can't get past those! I loved their BBQ sauce too, it was so good - a wee bit spicier than I've had elsewhere but still mild.
(5)
David L.
After moving I was afraid that I'd never find a roast beef sandwich as good as the one near my old home, but this place has darn good roast beef. They are so inexpensive and the food is pretty good all around with friendly staff. how can you beat 3.99 for a small pizza? Granted, they aren't gourmet pizzas or anything, but still...its $4. Gotta get the Roast beef if you go.
(4)
Adam B.
the dinners at the place are ridiculous! if you're hungry, but not hungry enough to eat close to 4 pounds of food,i would suggest NOT getting the dinners. All dinners come with french fries, onion rings, rice, salad, and rice pudding all for around $8-$10. ive also tried their "healthy skampa". im not quite sure how healthy this is, but its very tasty. it comes with chicken broccoli and some sort of cheese sauce. the roast beef is very good as well. i wouldn't say im a big connoisseur of roast beef, but to me it is very tender and the barbecue sauce it comes with is tangy and sweet. i have not had their pizza, but from other reviews, i don't think i will try it. ill just stick to the roast beef and a few of the subs. Normally i will go here on a Friday and get a dinner plate, and have plenty left over for lunch or breakfast the next day.

Went after reading all the great reviews and knew I'd be in the area. The onion rings were the best I've ever had. The roast beef sandwich (large) was properly sized (not gargantuan) and inexpensive, and very tasty. Gooped with sauce, but in a good way. The spinach rolls were so so -- could have used some more flavor. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Call in advance if you don't want to wait.

The roast beef here is the best I've had in my life, I stumbled into this place and wasn't expecting much, then I bit into the sandwich and couldn't stop , the sauce the bread the meat, its unreal. You have to try this one, doesn't look like much, but believe me its amazing.

Skampa makes scary bad pizza. It's like the ingredients are angry with each other for being of such poor quality and start fighting in your mouth. They should be ashamed to serve this stuff. In fact, they should just stop serving it since people seem to like their roast beef so much.
(1)
Keith D.
Before trying the SUPER beef here I always thought Liberty Bell in Southie was the best for roastbeef... Well, we have a new champion!!! Try the Super Beef if you want the most mouth watering (but sloppy) roastbeefsandwich you've ever had!! Oh, but the pizza sucks!

I lived in Cambridge for two years and unfortunately I only discovered Skampa two months before I moved. I ordered about 6 pizzas from them for a party because of all the good reviews it got here, and they were right on. The pizza was probably the best I've had in Cambridge, although Emma's is close. The sauce was delicious, the pizzas weren't very greasy, and the ingredients were fresh. Delivery was also right on time. Can't miss with this place.
I live up the block from this place and come here all the time for the pizza. So I don't know what's with all the bad pizza reviews. I've always loved their pizza and I'm not shy to be honest about pizza it's what I know best. Eat it for breakfast, lunch, n dinner if I could. The fries are good most of the time. You can't beat the lunch specials though very good and 2 nights a week they have a pizza special for a large pizza for like $4.00. Can't beat that with a stick!! So everyone who's talking bad pizza from this place, get real it's good stuff!! Haven't had the roast beef everyone's talking about even though I've been to this place a million times. I'm not a roast beef sandwich kinda girl. Not my thing ya know? But the people who own the place are great, always really kind to me n my son, the woman usually gives my son a quarter almost everytime to get candy out of the quarter machine after he eats. How sweet is that? They are genuinly good people n have good food. Check it out for yourself.

I ate at this place today. I have had it a few times before as well. I love it! The pizza isn't great, but the subs and the roast beef sandwiches are delicious. Get a large roast beef with sauce and cheese. You won't regret it!

This roast beef rivals the Liberty Bell in Southie. Fries not as good though. But roast beef....yummy!!

This place is really great for roast beef sandwiches! I wouldn't get anything else there though, especially not the pizza. A large roast beef sandwich with small fries (you get tons of fries in a small) is only $6. You really can't beat that.

(4)Chelle C.
(2)Tanya C.
(3)Fred T.
(3)R M.
Typical sub-urban sandwich shop. Good reasonably priced menu selection with fast friendly service. Seems to be a popular stop for locals to the area.
(3)Keven C.
(1)Mabel S.
(1)Carolann R.
Cheap, Quick, and on point! The Woman who runs this place always takes care of my coworkers and I when we order from here. The Super beef three way is enormous and delicious! The fries are crispy and tasty without salt and ketchup. The Salads are huge! And that home made salad dressing is to die for!
(5)Lindsay M.

(3)Lauren B.
(5)chris g.
(5)Steve C.
Best roast beef in the city. I try to eat here at least once a month. The hot super beef is freaking amazing. Get a large order of fries to share and you are all set. The rest of the food is great too, pizza has always been good. I order the roast beef and my eyes never wander.
(5)Trevor J.
(1)Lisa R.
(3)Ian B.
(5)Dee W.
(1)Jimmy D.
(1)Marcelo G.
Great roast beef and the french fries are the best in the area... Pizza is great also and the dinner plates come loaded with food... Great price for great food...
(5)M S.
(4)Kevin M.
Great pastrami sandwich. Not too expensive but good portions and very tasty. Definitely will try some more of their menu.
(4)Les K.
I have gotten lunch from Skampa dozens of times, and the food is always great. The owners are also really nice too and usually deliver the food themselves. I've ironically never had the roast beef, but man do they make a good BLT wrap!
(5)Wowie Z.
(5)Sebastian C.
Just had an amazing roast beef sandwich and a pizza with my friends and it was enjoyed by all. I got a free 2 liter with it also. Great people and the portion sizes are very generous.
(5)Raoul C.
(4)Tory L.
Skampa's quality is average, but they offer a large pizza that comes with two sodas for only $8 which is a great deal. It's a great option in this area.
(4)Johnny W.
I don't normally eat roast beef sandwiches but this (with everything) was pretty awesome. They increased our fries order too! Definitely worth checking out.
(5)Michael B.
(5)Dorothy W.
(2)Alena H.
(5)Lorelle C.
(5)Will D.
(4)Aboud Y.
(4)Paul M.
(3)Jules C.
(5)Food E.
The BEST roast beef in the greater Boston area. Stomps on Roast Beast on Comm. Ave. and challenges the epicness of Mike's Roast Beef in Everett.
(5)Susan N.
(3)Sara M.

(3)Monica R.

(3)Hi H.
I don't know my way around Boston...I was lost and hungry. I pulled over because there was parking but I wasn't expecting anything special and misjudged.... THE BEST PASTRAMI SANDWICH EVER! YUM!
(5)James P.

(4)Eri K.

(4)Jim K.
(2)Hannah L.
(4)Bill W.
I love Skampa! It's a mighty fine pizza for the price. And they give you a dollar off if you order by text. Ordering pizza with a txt! These innovators must be praised.
(4)Shirley Y.
my first experience with skampa started off on the wrong note, through no fault of the restaurant. having lived in the neighborhood for several years, i wanted to try their roast beef, thanks to their slogan, "real men eat it pink." i made the decision to try out their famous roast beef sandwich today. i walked into the empty restaurant where a man was reading something at the counter, who summoned the woman behind the counter. i asked what the difference is between the large roast beef and the super roast beef. the onion bulkie roll is served with the super, as opposed to a regular hamburger bun. to top off the roast beef, you have your choice of bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. i decided to get the super roast beef to go. at $6.38, i didn't think it was that economical. average price of a sandwich. in eager anticipation [and hunger], i pulled out the sandwich, which promptly landed on the floor. the sandwich itself was not in a bag, but wrapped in wax paper. i was distracted by the fries which were also thrown in the bag, but were the crispy fries that i love. oh well, five second rule.
(3)Chad B.
Great Pizza. $6.99 for a large pizza delivered. $1 off if you text in your order. Never had a bad pie here.
(5)Jorge C.
(4)Rachel P.
I was looking for a place to eat near my hotel and found this place. I got a small spinach calzone (which was actually 12", and only $7). It was jampacked full of spinach, some onions, cheese, and sauce. Pretty tasty!
(3)Jake M.
*sigh*
(5)AT N.
Super roast beef sandwich with everything - juicy, delicious, and they deliver. Roast beef is tender, and the sauce they put on it is delicious.
(4)Matt K.
(5)Dorothy C.
Yummy Steak Sub (roast beef = tender yumminess) - HUGE. Regular Roast Beef Sandwich = yummy, but "small" compared to sub... Fries = sometimes yummy and sometimes cold... Will definitely keep ordering, and maybe try the pizza. They deliver.
(4)John C.
(5)Michael C.
(4)Tani S.
Reallly friendly staff and we're definitely a fan of this place for an affordable, grad school weeknight meal. We favor the calzones especially the Italian bomb and the chicken with broccoli... Really yummy!
(4)MaryTyler M.
Whoa... you went to the trouble of Yelping Skampa?!?
(4)Chris C.
(5)KC R.
And when it's bad, it's still pretty good"... haha
(5)Kara S.
(5)Nikki B.
(3)Cara P.
(3)Steve J.
(4)G C.
Cheap pizza. $5.99 (+tax) for a large. Pizza is good for the price, and certainly worth more than the $5.99 price. Gourmet pizza it is not. It is great for dinner on a "stay-in" friday night after finishing a long and tiring work week.
(4)Jennie W.
This place is SO VALUE. For under 7 bucks (That's only 14 packages of Top Ramen) you get a huge delicious pizza that's made by incredibly nice people.
(4)Amie R.
Now that I've moved out of the 'hood, I will definitely miss their $7 (with tax) large cheese pizza special... not the best pizza I've ever had, but you can't really beat that for a quick & cheap dinner! I hear their roast beef is pretty good too, though I'm not a fan in general.
(4)William L.
(4)Rich O.
(5)Orly M.
I wouldn't eat here per se, because i don't like grease stains on my clothes. The super beef sandwich on an onion roll with extra crack-laden sauce is delicious, though. It's been a while since I clutched one of these in a grease-soaked brown paper bag, it's definitely time to go.
(4)Matt S.
nice people, good food and great prices
(4)Peter K.
(5)Elias C.
Steak bomb - bomb Roast beef - rare & saucy Calzone - large pizza folded in half Prices - cheap People - friendly A class act all around. An example to sub shops everywhere.
(5)Lawrence Z.
(3)Dachary C.
(4)Jill S.
(5)David L.
(4)Adam B.
the dinners at the place are ridiculous! if you're hungry, but not hungry enough to eat close to 4 pounds of food,i would suggest NOT getting the dinners.
(4)Jeff B.
(4)Dylan W.
The roast beef here is the best I've had in my life, I stumbled into this place and wasn't expecting much, then I bit into the sandwich and couldn't stop , the sauce the bread the meat, its unreal. You have to try this one, doesn't look like much, but believe me its amazing.
(5)Shane F.
Skampa makes scary bad pizza. It's like the ingredients are angry with each other for being of such poor quality and start fighting in your mouth. They should be ashamed to serve this stuff. In fact, they should just stop serving it since people seem to like their roast beef so much.
(1)Keith D.
(5)Ben W.
(5)Jacqueline M.
Excellent Chicken Kabob salads. Loooooooooooove them!
(5)Katie K.
(5)Jessica H.
I ate at this place today. I have had it a few times before as well. I love it! The pizza isn't great, but the subs and the roast beef sandwiches are delicious. Get a large roast beef with sauce and cheese. You won't regret it!
(4)Betsy B.
This roast beef rivals the Liberty Bell in Southie. Fries not as good though. But roast beef....yummy!!
(4)L S.
This place is really great for roast beef sandwiches! I wouldn't get anything else there though, especially not the pizza. A large roast beef sandwich with small fries (you get tons of fries in a small) is only $6. You really can't beat that.
(3)
