I'm having an early-ish dinner at Temptations tonight and am counting the minutes. It's only 11am. Sigh. It's gonna be a loooong day. Three years ago, my husband and I stumbled into their St Mary's location as we made our way toward the MFA. We were both expecting just a normal, mediocre sandwich experience and were both totally proven wrong by our delicious lunches! We've been hooked ever since. You can imagine our delight when they opened in Coolidge Corner - right near our house. Needless to say, we are very regular customers. The space is nice - open and airy with lots of natural light and free wifi. The ladies room is always spotless, too, which is a huge plus! The staff is awesome, especially Lou. The dark-haired girl who tends the register is also really nice and always remembers that one of my kids has a food allergy. Super customer service. As for the food, all of the sandwiches and salads are awesome. I think I've tried most of them and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the Mediterranean wrap, the chicken panini with pesto, mushroom/brie panini, the goat cheese salad, greek salad, and that yummy marscapone/fig brioche panini! My husband is a huge fan of their Cubano and their breakfast burritos. My son always orders the spicy Southwestern panini and my daughters like their BLTA wrap. The coffee is really good, too. Be warned, though: Their mochas and lattes are RICH. They're delicious, but definitely a special treat. For those who aren't coffee-drinkers, they have an excellent selection of loose teas. The prices are slightly high, but so is the quality. I'd rather pay an extra buck or two and get food made with fresh ingredients than go somewhere cheaper and get a stomachache later. Is it 6 o'clock yet?

Best cappuccino in town! Like Starbucks without snobby people, and with great food. If you're hungry, try the Prosciutto & Fig panini. Thank me later. ;)

I love Temptations, particularly this one! They have great sandwiches and drinks (definitely try the smoothies!). Great environment! The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I am a little disappointed of their coffee. As they have great food, snack, and other drinks (except coffee), I had to expect that they also have great coffee. Don't get this wrong, the coffee here is still good and I do have a relatively high standard. I guess if I really want a good cup of coffee I would go to a coffee shop instead of a lunch style cafe. I would give it 4-1/2 stars if I could!

This cute little caffe is just perfect morning spot. Great coffee and awesome sandwiches. Keep up the good work. Coolidge corner needs you.

Stopped in here this weekend to grab coffee with a friend. The place is very welcoming, well lit and clean. I ordered a 12 oz. cappuccino. While this drink was excellent and very well made, it was, unfortunately, not really 12 oz. I think it was likely closer to 8. Hmmm. However, everything else about our experience here was great. The staff was friendly. Our orders came out relatively quickly. We stayed here and chatted for over 2 hours and no one bothered us. Will definitely be back.

As a newcomer to Coolidge Corner (sort of), I was looking for a neighborhood coffee shop along the lines of Zume's in Charlestown, where I basically worked from for four years. Super friendly, talk to neighbors, loved it. Starbucks is too transient, Pete's is too small, and Temptations is just right. Its the kind of place where I'm starting to see the same people and chat a bit, something you rarely see at other coffee shops where you bury your head in a laptop or book for the most part. Looking forward to working my way through the menu, which has been good so far. As for the previous commenter's take on the Chai, these days its over-heated, definitely needs some work. Temptations staff, please list your hours on Yelp.

I love this place! As soon as it opened I was excited to try it and my excitement was not let down. Totally delicious inspired sandwiches, wraps, smoothies and more. The staff is awesome and friendly, the girl with the long dark hair is there most of the time and she is totally nice and a pleasure to interact with (I think her name is Megan, or Morgan? I asked one time but I have a terrible memory). The decor is relaxed and peaceful. There are framed pictures of veggies and landscapes. The place is always clean (even their bathroom) and usually pretty crowded too but I always seem to get a table. I usually get one of their Panini's and a bowl of their lentil soup. It is the best lentil soup I have ever had, I think it might be dill that they put in it? But whatever it is, its a flavor that is unique and fantastic. I don't eat non organic meat so when I go out to restaurants I am a vegetarian. Temptations is always accommodating in taking the meat out of my sandwich and adding another ingredient of my choice. I recommend their Mushroom and Brie, or their one with the Pomodoro sauce for dipping. (I cant remember the name.) Oh and also they have simple syrup to sweeten your drinks with!(maybe this is common for places but I have never seen it before) I find it very helpful when I have a cold drink like ice tea that needs to be sweetened, cause sugar granules just don't dissolve in cold drinks. In a nut shell. Love this place.. Love it.

Love this place - everything from coffee to sandwiches to pastries is delicious. Free wi-fi and cool decor! My to-go spot in Coolidge corner! Starbucks what?

This place is amazing! They are fast, efficient, and very nice every time I have come here. I have had the Mozzarella and Avocado Wrap, and the Hummus and Tabouli Wrap with Chicken added. For about $10, which some may say is steep, the portion is HUGE. I usually get half to eat here, and half to go. The ingredients are fresh and taste AUTHENTIC! I think it's difficult to find a restaurant that makes authentic tasting hummus and tabouli, with the right amount of lemon...and I believe they have the best around! And the wrap is always full of the ingredients- no skimping here. They also offer daily specials, posted on a chalkboard thing outside, and free wifi. Definitely a staple for me. I have not had everything on the menu, but from what I have had, I have no doubt it's all probably pretty good!

As a j-school masters student, I pretty much live like a freelancer. I spend most of my life looking at a laptop and feeding off WiFi signals. That said, when I'm not reporting potentially life-changing, scientific breakthroughs, I'm researching coffee shops. Those who know me well would be surprised to see me pick this place...it's spitting distance from a Peet's. I love that Peet's; so does every other person in Brookline. Since finding a seat at the Peet's would require hallucination from eating potent mushrooms or licking the skin of rare toads, I decided to take my troubles elsewhere. Temptations was the best solution. I cannot send this place enough praise. Their coffee is reasonably-priced and the baristas pull some pretty mean shots too. (Have you ever had a poorly-pulled espresso shot?! They're terrible. They aren't dicks about credit card minimums. Their food is pretty good. The service is always pleasant. The seating is almost always available. The bathrooms are always clean. Top notch place.

I went into Temptations to get a bit of studying in. Ordered a chai latte, sat down at a table and did some work. I think the Coolidge Corner crowd hasn't yet discovered this place or just don't go here yet since it's on the Washington Square direction of Beacon Street. Lots of pluses. Clean, new, wifi, not crowded, nice staff, and comfortable. They have magazines and random games, and two flat screen TV's. Also for this Texan girl, they have Dr Pepper in both can and fountain drink form. Awesome. I'll come here while it's still a best-kept secret, before the crowds overrun the place like the other coffee joints in town. Update: I've come here sporadically, usually to get a tea or Dr Pepper. However had a bad experience that honestly had made me question whether to come back again. My brother was visiting Boston, and we came by to get breakfast. My bro can't do dairy, and he ordered a breakfast sandwich w/ no cheese and a soy latte. First they were out of bagels, completely out, so we changed to English muffins for the sandwiches. Then when it came out, there was cheese on his sandwich. We apologetically told them about his dietary restrictions, and they kindly remade it. However they apparently made the late with real milk, which wreaks havoc. Word to the wise, if you're lactose intolerant take lactaid while you eat-- YOU NEVER KNOW.

oh boy oh boy oh boy... TEMPTATIONS Cafe - talk about a tasty place for a bite to eat.. stopped by here one day for a quick business lunch when I was in the area. Place was packed yet the staff was still able to get people's orders through and happy people seated/eating. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is buzzing. I'd highly recommend Temptations Cafe and need to go back there soon to try some of their other creations..

This has quickly become one of my favorite places in Coolidge Corner, especially if I am looking for a great sandwich. I am a big fan of the Mozzarella Avocado on a french baguette. It always tastes fresh and great. Friends of mine have gotten the Fig Prosciutto and the Chicken Pesto..they leave full and happy. The donut muffins are incredible and dangerous. It's easy to inhale them and they go great with the coffee, which I prefer over Peet's. Overall: Good food, good coffee and cute, clean location. Definitely a keeper and preferred over the location of the St. Mary's stop on the C line.

  • Danielle S.

I absolutely love Temptations. This location has breakfast and they make a mean sandwich, smoothie, and salad. Everything is fresh, the people who work there are great, and the atmosphere is pleasant. If you're looking for outdoor seating, check out their other restaurant at the St. Mary's stop. Equally as friendly staff, but the indoor seating there is lacking. Better for outdoor seating and/or take-out. I've tried all the smoothies and the Berry Patch and Raspberry Mango are by far the best. The baklava is delicious. As are all the sandwiches and salads I've had. Do be prepared for $5 smoothies and $8 sandwiches and salads, but you get what you pay for and the ingredients are fresh and healthy!

As a Northeastern Grad student, I spend a lot of time at the Huntington Ave location. As a Coolidge Corner resident, I spend a LOT of time at the Coolidge Corner location! Love this place! I bring everyone I know here, no complaints yet. The food is always fresh and delicious and made to order. The coffee is really good as well. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and don't seem to mind when you plug in and stay all afternoon pretending to do school work (but on facebook or yelp instead).

  • Kerrie K.

What a great addition to Coolidge, I ordered the prosciutto and fig panini and it was the best panini i've had in say 10 years. It's so good that I know for a fact I will be back in the future. The staff is kind and always willing to help. Prices are cheap and my friends order was an egg and cheddar sandwich for 5 bucks. What a good deal, you can find a breakfast spot that still is so cheap. Their even cheaper than International house of pancakes.

  • Sara E.

After steering clear of Temptations for the majority of my 5 years at Northeastern; I've come to be a little obsessed with this place in recent times. They always have delicious specials, and I'd highly recommend the "Cubano" and "Fresh Mozzarella" paninis. The breakfast looks delicious too, but never had it, and it's a little expensive. The ingredients seem fresh and I never leave disappointed. Downsides: 1. semi-expensive for the portions your given 2. weird hours - closes at 7pm on weeknights? Isn't that dinnertime?

    (4)
  • Heather S.

i had a panini here recently. It was okay. I thought it was overpriced and fairly small. Also, I thought it was pretty lame that for the price it did not even include a small salad or chips.

  • Eli G.

I work in Coolidge Corner and I am so happy that Temptations opened a location here. This is my first choice of where to buy lunch, and where I buy food when I host clients. The food is great in particular the Roasted Tomato and Chevre Panini and the Tuna, Cheddar and Avocado sandwich. The people are super-nice, and it has nice decor with flat-screen TVs on the wall, and plenty of reading materials to look at while you eat if you choose to eat alone.

First off, i'm not much of a Yelp contributor so if I write a review its either to warn humanity of a complete fail or because i've experienced something so fan-f'ing-tabulous that I must evangelize. In the case of Temptations its the latter. Similar to Napolitano and Parisian thinking, everything at Temptations is made with love and passion. Taking into consideration the extreme high quality of the coffee and drinks, the expressive flavorful edibles, the friendly staff, the chill yet refined decor, and the overall awesome vibe I dub Temptations Cafe the best of Boston. Its so good that I have made it my unofficial office (free unlimited wifi:) Downside: going to Temptations is like skiing British Columbia. Once you've experienced it, everywhere else leaves you wanting. In response to the smoothie boo's, to each their own but i've inspected the process and the bananas are what gives the smoothies their awesome texture (Its not even half bananas), the apple juice takes the place of refined sugar and a smoothie made with milk is not a smoothie...its a shake.

Apparently this place has been open for more than 1 year. Where have I been? Walk by it by accident last night and had a GREAT experience. Good Coffee. Good desert (although not much variety), but they had awesome paninis. I had the Cubano, and it was really flavorful. Right amount of pickle and ham to make it just perfect. The only thing I wish for this place is that their hour should be longer. I think Coolidge Corner can use some later hour cafe shops.

This is my place to eat and study. It's clean (including the bathroom!). The interior is easy on the eyes. The employees are extremely friendly and patient. Food is simple and delicious and very generous in portion. Love their big mugs of tea. :) Of all the cafes in Coolidge Corner, this one tops my list!

Temptations Cafe has been a welcome addition to Coolidge Corner. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious, fresh, and available for just a little more than a sandwich from Dunkin down the street. The espresso drinks are also well crafted. Lunchtime offerings, although a tad pricey, also hit the spot. My favorite is the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella sandwich. Temptations is worth a visit if you're in the mood for a quick, delicious meal.

I go here way too often. The food is really unique and yummy-- all of it.. On weekdays and weekends, I often sit there to study and/or write papers. There's free wifi and I LOVE the music they play. However, on weekends it can get crowded, but honestly, its worth it.

I really enjoy this place although I've only had a fruit and water there; the staff are really friendly and I can't wait to go back! It's very clean and it's an awesome place to study. It's also affordable.

Just tried Temptations for the first time today (well, I'm actually sitting here as I Yelp about it). It's a great, cozy atmosphere with a buzz. There seems to be a constant flow of people coming in-and-out either to grab a quick cup of joe or to get some work done. The food looks pretty good here, too. I tried the Chicken Caesar Salad, and it was pretty yummy, if I might say so myself. Perfect dressing-to-lettuce ratio.

I strolled in on a Tuesday to pick up lunch after seeing so many people frequent this cafe. There were four people ahead of me in line at 11am. I waited my turn and ordered a wrap to-go. I waited about 5 minutes for my wrap and was out the door. The price seemed pricey but not extravagant ($7.67 for a wrap with tax), but when I sat down to eat, I realized the wrap was giganto! It was totally scrumptious and I ate every last bite. Truth be told, I actually ate every crumb in the foil wrapper too. :) I am very curious to come back and try other menu items.

  • Brandee B.

Great coffee. Nice staff. Pretty good free wifi. Tasty food. The only complaint I have is that on the weekdays, the music is entirely too loud. They seem to turn it down when someone complains...but then within a half hour the volume gets cranked up again. By far, this is still one of my favorite coffee shops in Brookline. I just wish they would keep the music at a more tolerable volume.

I'm actually shocked that I haven't written a review for Temptations yet, considering I come here at least twice a week. I love their coffee- and I always get the Breakfast Burrito (with cheddar instead of pepperjack cheese). It's yummy. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and I was only disappointed with the caprese panini, so steer clear of that. They toasted the bread too much and it was way too crispy (I thought I had chipped a tooth..no joke)

So if you haven't checked out the new temptations in Coolidge corner, you need to do so asap! The space is brand new and it looks awesome. The people that work there are very nice, and the food is really fresh and tasty. They have free wi-fi, but I think they ask you to only use it for a half hour or so. Also, try their coffee, it's really good. It's nice to have an alternative to Starbucks and Peet's in Coolidge corner. Support local business people!!!!! I wish they would open another store closer to fenway. I'd have the prosciutto and fig panini everyday.

I am here at least 3 days a week to pick up lunch for the boss, she has been getting her salads here for 10 years. Occasionally I get something too. Everything here is as fresh as you can get. If you don't see it on the menu, ask they will make it. The ceasar salad is amazing and the paninis are awesome and they carry Mello Yello.....who doesn't love that! If you are near any of their locations, make it a point to go in and grab a bite to eat.

I'm a huge fan of this cafe. I enjoy their coffee, food and space. More than once have I parked my student self in their coffee shop to study biology (and the anatomy of all the cute boys that walk in and outta here. Oop. Did I just say that?) I enjoy that this place is hidden in plain sight. Or rather, that when I say, "I'm at temptations" I have to give directions to find me. Their baristas know what the hell they're doing. As in: their cappuccinos are dead on perfect. I order their Southwest Sandwich in a wrap, which is probably one of the most deliciously simple things to get in my mouth (i know. i know. thats what she said.) but really, their food is simple and delicious, as is their coffee. I appreciate that the girls will bring my latte over to me if they see me really focused on my notes. I think it's sweet.

I've been to this cafe a few times now, always in the evening around 8:30pm or later. It's a nice place to grab a latte and chill, since most places in the area are closing around that time. Temptations stays open until 10 during the week. The interior is welcoming, with a friendly staff, a good layout, and a couple TVs. I'm not big on TVs, but here they aren't very loud, so it's not disturbing if you wanted to read. Overall, a nice addition to Coolidge Corner.

Great place to study do some work or grab a bite with friends. The garden wrap is the best veggie wrap in the city and coffee is good too. Definitely a place I will miss after moving neighborhoods!

In March 2011, I went to Temptations Cafe on two occasions while visting the area. It was an espresso oasis in a neighborhood that appears to have little quality espresso. I was served high-quality espresso by very friendly staff, and that was the perfect way to start my morning. Highly recommended.

I had a Chai Latte and it was very good. There was lots of room to take out a book and relax. I got a seat by the front where there's natural sunlight. I initially came here because Peets and Starbucks were both filled, but I think I'll be coming back!

I was walking on Beacon street, and came in to order a smoothie for a friend and me. I paid for our smoothies. Then I was told that all smoothies MUST be made with apple juice only. WTF? Sorry but you can't get your drink made your way at this poorly run cafe. I asked if I could get it made with milk or soymilk, and was told absolutely not. I am not kidding about this. I asked to speak to a manager to see if perhaps he/she would be more flexible. I was told that there was no manager working that day. So I even offered to pay extra. The girl behind the counter refunded my money ($10), and made clear she wasn't interested in making a smoothie unless it had apple juice in it. I tried to go to their web site to give feedback to the owner, and their website is broken and won't accept messages. This is a very poorly run cafe that trains their employees terribly. I refuse to go back there. I now get great smoothies at Boloco, which is happy to customize the smoothie I want.

Great decor, great location, great staff, great coffee, and, most importantly, great food... The quality of the food at Tempations in Coolidge Corner is exceptional, particularly for such reasonable prices. The menu is always augmented by creative, mouth-watering specials. The only downside is slowly it's been getting much more crowded, as this location is no longer the best kept secret it in town.

Start with fresh squeezed orange juice!! Order the Egg and Cheddar sandwich that Lu suggested!! He is delightful! And Sarah also behind the counter was helpful and took our photo!! This place is in a great location. Sit by the window. Watch the parade of people walk by. Bathrooms are clean!! And smell good!! Visiting from San Diego and on vacation but if you are here on business this place would be perfect to catch up on a little work and have coffee and a meal!!

Having lived in Coolidge Corner for the past five years, I've probably walked by Temptations Cafe hundreds of times and never once been tempted (har har) to walk in. That was until I read the description of the Three Little Pigs panini on the chalkboard outside...ham, pork loin, and bacon top with horseradish, caramelized onions, cheese (I'm blanking on what kind) and fig spread sandwiched between two beautifully pressed pieces of ciabattta. Was it everyting I hoped for? Not quite. The bread, which I think comes from Iggy's was perfect, but the sandwich as a whole was lacking in kick and heft, which seems impossible given the laundry list of powerhouse ingredients. Throw in the fact that it was more than $9 and didn't even come with a pickle, and I'll admit I was actually a little disappointed. I also figured I'd try Temptations' take on a 7-layer bar while I was at it, and was not impressed. This place might appeal more to avid coffee drinkers looking for an alternative to the Coolidge trifecta of Starbucks, Dunkies, and Peet's, but sandwich lovers like myself are better off heading to Michael's Deli down the street.

H and I were in the Coolidge Corner area due to an elective ultrasound we decided to have done. The cafe is located on the very busy section of Coolidge Corner on Beacon. I called (the ultrasound place) ahead of time to find out the deets on parking... Yeah, you're parking on off-street. On a positive note, the "old school" meters take both coins AND cards. So those of you, like me, who never carry cash/change are in luck. It's $2 for two hours. When H and I walked into the cafe, we couldn't help but feel like it's a decent size spot for the area. It's also decently decorated in a modern, yet natural-looking... pieces. There were booths on either side with a long table in the center. On the upside, there were outlets everywhere I looked. Dangit. I should've brought my phone charger for my always-dead iPhone. There was a couple of specials listed on the chalkboard placed on the sidewalk. My H HAD to try Three Little Pigs Panini (or something like that)- it sounded too good to be true. After eating half his sandwich, he was relentless and admitted to was indeed too good to be true- that the sandwich was just ok. I REALLY wanted a prosciutto sandwich after reading the other reviews (next time!)... but I ordered a Cuban. My sandwich was awesome compared to H's. The pickle was tasty- and I do NOT like pickles. There were a number of sandwiches I wanted to try (tuna, cheddar and avocado, prosciutto and mozz, etc). When we're in the area next, we'll be sure to make the stop.

Been here a few times. They serve mediocre to average food with high prices. Came back because it's close to home, had comfortable seating and had free WiFi. However, the last time I came, I asked for the wifi password for my friend and the cashier said the wifi was down. I sat down but then saw I was connected to the wifi without any problems. I went back to ask them to clarify and they said it was a new policy not to give out the password on weekends, pointing to a hidden piece of paper saying this. Apparently this was to help keep turnover higher which makes no sense as I walk by here routinely and never see that many people inside. It's not like people just using wifi are taking up all the seats. Seems like a poorly thought out policy but not the reason I'll never come back. What ensures I'll never return is the fact they are willing to lie to customers.

Whether meeting a friend or doing some work, Temptations Cafe is a great place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. My latte was rather commonplace, but made way for the high point of my visit... The Southwestern Turkey Panini was outstanding. Striking the perfect balance of savory and spice, this panini was among the best sandwiches I've had in Boston. I certainly recommend Temptations for your next lunchtime excursion in Brookline!

Came here for breakfast and had a bagel with a caramel macchiato. The bagel was toasted very well and it tasted even better with the cream cheese spread. The espresso was really smooth and had a rich taste. The café itself is nice. Good place to hang out with a friend. It's a small place with a nice coffeehouse vibe to it.

Had a falafel wrap. In general the orders were pretty basic and pricey. Food isn't bad but I personally wouldn't make this a go to for its small portions and lack of vegetable content/diversity for what is supposed to be pretty healthy.

Smells great when you enter. BUT they pre-make their smoothies so you can't request one without a certain fruit?! Uhm, I question the freshness of such smoothies...

Another incredibly odd experience here... It's pouring rain outside and needed a place to wait for a bit. I had a pretty terrible experience here last time, but I figured with all the great reviews it must have just been an odd day when I had gone. Apparently not.. I came in at 5 today, and while it says they close at 9pm, at 5:45, we were all told they were closing early at 6pm. It was completely out of no where and there wasn't an explanation as to why. It literally seemed as though the two people working there just wanted to go home. I chose this place to chill for a while, not 45 minutes. What cafe/coffee shop closes at 6pm on a Tuesday? (there was no sign indicating an early closing day) What was worse was how they went about getting people out. They played super loud heavy metal music, which was mostly just screening, starting at 5:30 so people would leave. I have to say it worked. Everyone was sufficiently distracted and disrupted by the screaming and everyone over 40 immediately left. Those that remained were then told to leave 15 minutes later. They were also really rude to everyone ordering food, which was really strange. Not something you generally see at a coffee shop. I never say this, but I'll never be going back. They win.

The coffee is VERY strong, and on my last visit, I had to order it a second time because the first serving had grounds in it. I think the atmosphere is nice if you need to get work done, but it's a little dark -- and I wouldn't say that the caffeine fix is worth the money overall. The Temptations sandwiches do look good though, so I would consider returning to try those.

I ordered the prosciutto and fig panini and the prosciutto tasted spoiled and like bad ham. Temptations wasn't very tempting after all.

With not so many breakfast options open at 7:30AM in Brookline, I was pleased to find a highly rated cafe option within walking distance to the Courtyard Marriott. I guess I was expecting something a little more unique... I ordered the breakfast egg sandwich with turkey, and it was reminded me of what you would get at any typical NYC Bodega. It was good, but just meh. The service was equally as stoned faced, but fast and relatively friendly for that time of the morning. The espresso however is definitely one step above standard and for that I would return on a regular basis. For anyone visiting the Brookline area and staying at the Courtyard, it's definitely worth venturing away from the lobby Starbucks for a coffee at Temptations.

Nice vibe with good seating and free wifi for studying. However, the drinks and food are pretty mediocre. I got the chai latte- too syrupy and tasted like it was made from boxed concentrate, not much depth of flavor, and the apple almond cake- very mealy like the whole thing was made of almond paste. Pretty average place.

Cute and convenient, this place has many perks but other qualities that make it less than desirable. The food is pretty good and very reasonably priced - I got a tuna melt. However, the man SHOUTING out our orders once they were ready (and I do mean shouting!) was incredibly jarring and distracting and made it challenging to have a conversation. I was loving my soy latte until I got to the end of the liquid and noticed it still felt like there was something in the cup but couldn't get any more of the beverage out.. I opened the lid to reveal congealed and hardened soy milk at the bottom of the cup! I will not order a coffee drink from there again but would go back for one of their salads!

When I need to hunker down and do some serious work (outside of work, oh yea!) this is where I go. Impressive drink menu from seasonal fruit smoothies to hot bevies for cold days. This cafe is not only comfortably equipped with a friendly staff and sweet Spotify playlists, but the food is good like REAL good. If it is rainy outside - I'll go with their tea latte or slurp down some of their house-made lentil soup. Sometimes I am here for an embarrassingly long stretch of time so sweets are a necessary. Today it's the mascarpone and fig-jam sandwich. Good tunes, eats, and the comforts of a familiar place - I am happy worker bee!

They brew George Howell coffee, so it'd damn near impossible to complain about the caffeine options. Once you go Howell, you can never go back, it's smooth and slightly bold, and blows the competition out of the water. It's the type of coffee that makes me feel guilty for putting milk and sugar into it. It's the type of coffee that I take a seat for, rather then chugging it half-hazardly as I tackle the sidewalk. My only complaint is that the lattes are rather expensive. A flavored latte will set you back $4.28, and it SMALL. Temptations only serves one size latte, the equivalent of a "Tall" at Starbucks. I suppose you must pay for quality, but it makes a poor grad student like myself feel slightly sick every time they ask me to fork over that kind of cash. The decor is nice, the seats are comfortable, they give you a free password for the wifi. I usually go around 1pm during the weekday, and it's always jammed, making it not so conducive to studying, but there seems to be a lot of people who can grind through the noise.

Temptations wouldn't usually be my kind of place: $8 sandwiches sans meat, basic menu, etc. However, they do a great version of a basic cafe. First off, the atmosphere is good: spacious, plenty of seating, and laid back. The falafel wrap I had was big, fresh, and delicious. My honey cinnamon latte was rich and just sweet enough (I.e. if you want a little coffee and a lot of milk, skip Starbucks and come here). Still, this cost around $13. Yes, there are relatively cheaper, more interesting places in and around Coolidge to get coffee and lunch. That said, this is both the best and most expensive boring cafe I have found, hands down. Tl;dr: Cheap? Skip it. Adventurous? Skip it. Just want something solid and average? Go for it.

Love this place so so so much. It's clean, has great customer service, isn't expensive, has a great menu, good portions, delicious and fresh... I could continue. I used to work around the corner and would always come in during my breaks, so I have tried a large portion of the menu. I love the sandwiches, all of them. Even when they run out of baguettes (which is more often than not), I am not disappointed because the other breads (ciabatta, wheat) they use for the sandwiches are so GOOD, especially when they put them in the panini press. UGH I die. Honestly you could choose any, but my favorite would be the roasted tomato and chevre... or maybe the tuna and avocado... or maybe the fig and prosciutto. It is a hard choice. You will definitely leave full. Even the salads are filling, and they're not filled with crap. They're pretty healthy, and they all come with a side of pita! My favorite is the Mediterranean salad, and this is why: dolmas! Yes, they put grape leaves in the salad. What a novel idea! I guess the only problem with the Coolidge Corner location would be seating. It does get quite full, especially around 2pm on the weekends. Which is disappointing because that is prime stare-out-a-window-in-a- cafe time. Whatever. If I have to wait a few seconds to eat my food, I'll do it. The staff is also super friendly and personable.

Random observation: about 90-95% of the people that came in this morning were female...or female with their babies. I maybe saw 4 guys come in during the two hours I was here and most of them ate and left quickly. Anyway, I came here to grab brunch and get some work done. The food was decent, but nothing outstanding or special. The noise level was average and good for studying if you can block out background noise/music/people chatting. Spacious with plenty of seating... it's not like Starbucks where you always have to stand super close to the person leaving so someone else doesn't snatch the seat before you do. Or if you're lucky enough to get a seat, you're always awkwardly bumping elbows with your neighbors. Did not experience any of that claustrophobia here. The only thing that made my experience a bit off was the cashier who was pretty cold and just looked bored. I wonder if she hates her job or just didn't get enough sleep. Anywho, I would come back if I can't find a similar cafe with better food.

One of the best lattes I had recently. First of all, they only have one size of latte for ordering inside and that is a HUGE size for a Great price (3.20ish I think). The latter was delicious and warm some of the lattes I had before were more on the cold side. I loved my BIG latte here and would definitely come back for it.

I came here for breakfast one morning after I had a dentist appointment in the area. I got an iced coffee and a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. The iced coffee was great! The breakfast sandwich was fresh and tasty as well, but I felt that it could've been more flavorful and cheesier. The cheesier the better, always.

A nice pricey coffee shop gem in Coolidge Corner. I love the atmosphere of the place, clean, nice window stool seats for people watching, and gives you the benefit of soaking up some sun rays at the same time sitting there. Heck I even shazamed a song-Daughters by John Mayer. :) I had their breakfast sandwich on english muffin with sausage. You have the options of choosing turkey or bacon as well or a bagel for your sandwich. Heartier fillings egg wise compared to McD and the muffin was deliciously hot. The raspberry mango smoothie was lovely, you could really taste the fine seeds, perfect tinge of tangyness, though lacking on any hint on mango. $11 for this...steep. I could buy a panini soup combo with that at panera. *shrugs* Gotta try everything atleast once. It's busy in the morning. People were already camped out on their laptop at 10am. Thanks Temptations for making my already sleep deprived night of virology a little more bearable. You are indeed a nice temptation and a hefty one to my pocket at that.

I have been to Temptations twice since bookmarking it and both times I've gotten the same thing: Tuna,Cheddar & Avocado panini (tuna salad red onion, avocado, tomato, honey mustard, cheddar cheese). Although the bread does cut the roof of my mouth a bit, it is AMAZING. It all goes so well together. YUM. I also took a bite of my husband's panini - the Honey Ham & Swiss (smoked honey ham, tomato, red onion mayo, Swiss chesse) and said "maybe I'll get that next time!" The punch card is only for drinks, not sandwiches, and there is usually a wait or a bit of a scramble for seats, but both times I've been able to get a table without too much hassle. They have a great selection of chips (although no fries) and the smoothies sound very tempting (no pun intended). One of my new favorites!

The staff at Temptations Cafe are always very sweet and as a bonus is that they always rock great tunes. Lattes taste amazing (I work in a cafe and I know micro-foam when I taste it). It's a great place to grab a coffee or a salad (they are huge and delicious) and work on that pesky midterm paper. Love it!

I like to support local businesses, and Temptations Cafe makes it pretty easy to do. The food prices are a little high for how simple the menu is, but it can't be cheap to operate in Coolidge Corner. Definitely get a latte, though! The leaf drawn in the foam can make your day.

Mmmmm... the southwest turkey panini is just thing to help you power through your afternoon. The food is great, the service is very friendly, the only bummer is that the wifi signal is pretty poor. Probably fine if you are updating your status on Facebook, but not great if you need to download something, even something small. Nonetheless, a terrific cafe!

4-stars for their paninis only. I come here every now and then, not so often since the prices aren't so nice. BUT, my mom loves their lentil soup, so I get that for her every time I go. Anyway, I decided to try an item from yesterday's special, which I can't remember the name of, but on the receipt it says chicken mozzarella. It was more like a chicken florentine when I had it though. Regardless, it was soooo good! It made me dismiss all the other cafes and stores I usually get my sandwiches and paninis at. I don't really care about their other menu items though. The salads and soups aren't large portions, and their smoothies and hot drinks aren't that memorable other than their price tags. But I say their paninis are good enough to keep me coming back for more. Oh, they have wifi, but i always get take-outs because it just doesn't feel like a place I want to dine in at - not that it's ugly or anything...

Warning, this is an angry vegan rant! I've been to this place a few times. It has fresh food and a nice atmosphere and the coffee is good. But as of now, I am no longer a fan at all. So, I walk by this place all the time and have noticed the "Alternative Breakfast" sandwich on the blackboard. It's got hummus, romaine, cucumbers and carrots on a toasted Iggy's bagel. Way to go guys! Good on you for putting a nice healthy vegan option on the menu. So I go in. The price is not listed on the blackboard, but I'm sure it's reasonably priced. I order it and a cup of coffee (brewed - nothing fancy) And the damn total is nearly $8. Really, I mean really? So, I'm not going to make a stink out of it. I pay for it, leave my tip and am out nearly 9 bucks for a freaking bagel with a little hummus and maybe 30 cents worth of veggies. AND they freaking forgot the lettuce too. It's probably because they never sell it so the cook can't remember what's in it. Not because nobody wants it, but because nobody would ever shell out 6 bucks for this thing twice. Like seriously, I could get a loaded burrito for that. So basically, the management thinks they are doing vegans a favor and offering some hummus and a few veggies and charging them as much as they would for a cooked egg, cooked bacon and cheese. There's no WAY it cost them as much to make this sandwich but you know, screw it, let's just rip them off, put it on our blackboard and not advertise how much it costs. And yes, of course there is labor in shredding carrots but is there not labor in cooking an egg and cleaning up the greasy grill? Anyway, I feel robbed. And I'm not cheap. People who rip other people off are cheap. And in case management is thinking, good riddance, who needs you angry veggie lovers, get with the times. Veggies are where it's at. Wanna see a line out the door for lunch every weekday? Go to Sweet Green on Boylston. Want to see the coolest, hottest staff and customers in the Boston area? Go to Life Alive or Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge. But that's OK, you can have your empty tables and keep ripping people off. But you should know that when veggie lovers find something they like, they keep coming back. We're loyal.

Cute! Clean! Friendly! I like this place. I haven't had any of the food, but the berry iced tea was delicious, and they will brew your choice of tea and make it iced if you don't like the option they have available. The cafe itself is open and light-filled, and conducive to journaling, studying or catching up with a friend. There is background music playing but not too loud, and there is also a tv along the wall. The layout is interesting, with a bar table/chairs in the center and tables along the wall. The prices are reasonable and there are several vegetarian choices on the menu.

I had Temptations cater a work lunch, and I screwed up the day. When I called to confirm the day before I intended the lunch to be, I realized my mistake! Matt, the manager, really came through for me, and was able to still complete the entire order. I don't know what I would have done without his kindess and flexibility. The sandwiches and salads were flawless, and a hit!

  • Aaron T.

Food was good, but the attitude of the server (Matt) was terrible. I was there with my two young children and he couldn't be bothered to give us two cups that fit the lids that they have. I was quite pleasant about asking for them, and thought I heard him mutter "jerk" under his breath when he turned away. When I confronted him about it, he was dismissive and unapologetic. I won't be going back.

Located across from the YMCA. Temptations Cafe is a nice spot where you can grab a quick bite with a range of food options. Being near a few universities, this place is perfect for students--meaning inexpensive, quick, and tasty :) I got the Chicken Florentine sandwich and a goat cheese salad that I split with a friend. I REALLY LIKED THE SANDWICH. The sandwich came out, neat and clean, and they give you a tub of marinara to dip it in. The goat cheese salad was also pretty refreshing. I'm not a huge cheese person, but the cheese wasn't overwhelming. There was AGUALA (def spelling error--forgive), goat cheese, olives etc.

Cute local spot that serves solid sandwiches. My favorite is the tuna, cheddar, and avocado melt (YUM!). While I like this cafe, I find myself thinking twice before coming for lunch because I find that it can be difficult to find seating. If you're on your computer during lunch hour, you should be considerate of others who are looking to sit down to actually eat.

I teeter between love and "ok". If you want a soy latte in Coolidge Corner, this is one of the better places to head to. And they're toasty PB&Jam sandwich (with powdered sugar on top)? So so good. If you have a lot of time on your hands and want somewhere with an OK atmosphere and a good amount of space and quiet, this is a pretty good choice. My problems with this place is more along the lines of the help. In fact! They were hiring another barista and I thought about it for two seconds (second jobs can be fun- especially in a cafe), then realized I'd hate the people I would be forced to work with. I have yet to have someone greet me when I come in; they more stand at the register with a "what the flip do you want" look on their face. Never a smile, and never speedy (or even regular) service. To order a vanilla soy latte and PB&J? 20 minute wait. For just the latte? Around 10-12 minutes. And I've dug down and waited for this long four times thus far. And they haven't been busy any of these times either. The cook is usually doing prep or cleaning when I order, and the two girls who are too busy to deal with you are usually wandering or gossiping around the back/counter area. So, if you have time and patience and don't care about the customer service you receive, this place is great! If you care more about customer service, stroll a bit further down to Harvard St and try either the Paris Creperie or Peet's.

Enjoy ordering a small soup and then occupying a table for 3 hours during the weekend lunch hour while gchatting away on your MacBook Air? Then this is the place for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer prompt service with the expectation of reasonable table turnover at your lunch spot, avoid this place like the plague. Usually prefer local outfits, but Temptations' is everything you come to dislike about Panera (table-campers, uninspired menu, etc.), but in a smaller setting with fewer sandwich options. Avoid.

I love Temptations café for my salad fix or Panini splurge. My go-to is the Greek salad. This salad is massive with great distribution of veggies and cheese and some delicious stuffed grape leaves on top. Well worth the price for the size and quality in my opinion. I've also had their Panini's which are incredible! I've had the Southwestern Turkey (which was FULL of turkey and nice and spicy!) and the Prosciutto and Fig (which was sweet and salty and all kinds of delectable!). These sandwiches are massive as well and full of really great flavors. I have never stayed and eaten in the café but it looks clean and nice, although I haven't come across a really nice staff member except someone working in the kitchen who handed me my salad once. Despite that, I highly recommend Temptations Café!

For those like me have been hovering for an uncomfortable and often unavailable seat and who have been paying $10 for an hour of unreliable wifi at Peets in Coolidge Corner, let me say, we have been idiots. Temptations is just around the corner, spacious, has plenty of comfy seating, eclectic music at good sound level, nice staff, makes good lattes, nice tea selection, cheaper, offers more food options: - Panini's - I've had Tuna (a very light tuna melt), Cuban (not totally authentic, but the best tasting one I've had since NYC), Florentine (light and spinachy), prosciutto and fig (gorgonzola waaay overpowering), chicken pesto (pleasantly light), and ham/cheese (just plain incredible) - Baked goods - blah, not the freshest - Brownie is dryish but chips on top good, spinach pie dough is dry and pasty, but damn the congo bar is good! - Sweet temptations - LOVE, done perfectly!!! I eat one almost every day! - Pressed brioche sandwiches with goodies like bananas, nutella, PB, fig jam...dusted w/ powdery goodness ...and you know what, my wifi has FULL bars... for all freakin' afternoon. Oh yeah, and I don't smell like walking coffee grounds when I leave either. Thank you.

I like this place a lot. I work in the area and love having a place like this to go to during lunch. I can get some work done too for school if I need to. I like the sandwiches although I wish there were somewhat of a different selection on the them. There are a lot of Mediterranean type ones, it would be nice to see a few more choices. Breakfast sandwiches are good. They should make home fries. seriously, id change my rating to a 5 just for that. The coffee is good. They have fountain soda, cans, and bottles. I have yet to try a smoothie but would love to. I have always had a good experience with the staff. Maybe they are new and they got rid of the rude ones... or maybe youre just rude. One negative- a tad too pricey to go all the time. Unfortunately I have to change my mind and go somewhere else if I feel like I can't put down 10-13 dollars on lunch. I know, I know its not thaaaaat much but still I have to eat out a lot.

Still love their eats, smoothies, and chai... but have been disappointed with their coffee lately, as both their drip and espresso drinks taste a little burnt to me. So I think I'll head elsewhere for my caffeine fix, but will continue to come here for all the rest.

This place gets five stars for being the best $5.00 vegetarian breakfast place in Coolidge Corner. Yes, there are other breakfast places in the area. No, none of them come close to offering anything this fresh and this tasty for this price. Details: For about $5.00 you can get their 'Egg and Cheddar' sandwich (whole grain bread, fried egg, cheddar, tomato, and - wait for it - avocado!!!) and a cup of dark coffee. Looove it! Fast, cheap, and killer! You can also get the sandwich on a bagel or an English muffin. Stay for lunch and the tasty options continue. Great stuff for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores alike - salads, sandwiches, and wraps. They have the most amazing vegan lentil soup ... all light and lemony. My lentil soup usually tastes like dirt, so this is a welcome change of pace. Added perks: Free WiFi, the sweetest staff, and late-ish hours.

Cozy spot to catch up with friends, get some work done and have some delicious sandwiches! My favorite paninis & sandwiches: - Pesto Chicken - Tuna, Avocado & Cheddar - Prosciutto & Fresh Mozzarella (this is a cold sandwich but I always ask for it hot so the cheese melts!) I have been going to Temptations even before they opened their Coolidge Corner location. I've always liked their restaurants but this location is definitely an upgrade and by far the most spacious and cozy one. The food here beats pre-made sandwich chains like Cosi or Panera. They are definitely on par if not better with their atmosphere and wifi connection. I would rather support small businesses like Temptations than opt for a chain cafe restaurant.

***disclaimer: this review is for smoothies ONLY*** I got the raspberry mango smoothie, which unfortunately sounds a lot more delicious than it really was. I was lured in by the promise of all natural fruity goodness. So I ordered the smoothie, the employee grabbed a plastic cup filled with almost all bananas (at least that's all I could see), threw it into a blender, and added a bottle of apple juice. And that's exactly what it tasted like. I honestly thought they got my order wrong, because it tasted like strawberry banana, I couldn't taste mango at all. And it was pricey, around $5!

i came in here to do some studying for the bar exam bc i got sick of panera and several reviews for temptations suggested it's a good place to get some work done. the thing is, i ordered a cup of coffee and it's disgusting. i don't understand how a coffeeshop can serve such a horrid, acidic cup of coffee that's worse than a street vendor in nyc. very very rarely do i fail to finish a cup of coffee, especially the first cup of the day, but this was really disappointing. for anyone looking to focus on something while here, be advised that the music was also too loud and a bunch of the songs playing had obnoxious drumlines that felt like they were drilling a hole into my head. i'd be all for supporting a non-chain but you've got to be competitive so i feel like i'm getting what i paid for, and temptations didn't cut it for me.

Margot G. and I came in here after she'd scoped the place out several times before and deemed it a worthy study spot for the two of us to come in, take over a table for two with little to no trouble, order some lattes and perhaps some food, and study uninterrupted for several hours. Intrigued by her description, I nodded my assent to her suggestion that I try this place out with her on Saturday afternoon. When we walked into what was clearly a full house, I looked at over her like "little to no trouble, huh?" However, there was one table for two left in the middle of a row on the left side of the place, and we grudgingly claimed the spot as ours. After discovering that wall outlets are reserved only for those lucky few on the ends of each row, and our looking around forlornly for alternatives, the woman sitting next to us occupying one of those coveted ends told us she'd be leaving in about 45 minutes and we could have her spot. Luckily, she kept her word and we were able to move into her old spot and plug in. After two hours, maybe three (and several coffees, a bagel, and sandwich later), we were forced out of the shop entirely by an obnoxiously loud family right next to us who didn't seem to care that we were clearly two people attempting to get work done. By this point, the shop had cleared out, and there were plenty of other places to sit, but noooo, these morons decided to sit *right* next to us. Even my iPod with the volume turned up to 65% could not drown them out. After engaging in some of the more aggressive forms of passive-aggressive "will you shut the F up?!?" tactics, Margot G. and I glanced at each other, exasperated, and opted to get out of there. Lesson learned: this is really only a good study spot on the weekdays when the breeders are in school/work and not busy being obnoxious to everyone else around them... The good things about this place: - lots of space, tables, and chairs - good lattes and drip coffee - tasty food - free WiFi The bad: - limited outlet locations - the propensity on weekends to house the loudest people in Boston - prices more on the expensive side for food Overall = 3.5 stars. Didn't quite get there to be a 4 for me.
