Amazing pretzels, but I don't visit this location anymore. There is nothing wrong with this location; it has fast service and the fresh, delicious pretzels I have come to love and expect from Auntie Anne's. Rather the reason is because of Wetzel's Pretzels. Located on the opposite end of the mall, Wetzel's is the only place I have ever been to that makes better pretzels than Auntie Anne's. I prefer the doughier pretzels offered at Wetzel's to the slightly crispier and sweeter pretzels of Auntie Anne's myself.

Auntie Anne's is located now on the first floor near Newbury comics and Baby Gap. I was there this past Tuesday. I just wanted to get a regular pretzel and a small diet coke. The pretzel was $4.25. I thought it was a bit high for just a pretzel. So I got a combination of pretzel bites and a soda instead for a cheaper price. I actually asked the salesperson if it would be cheaper. But, he spoke such broken English unfortunately I could not understand one thing he said. So, I had to just guess what I was going to get. If you are going to put someone on the register I really think it should be someone that can speak clearly with English. So everyone can understand him...I had absolutely NO CLUE what he was saying. I'd like to know what I'm buying. The pretzel bites were actually really buttery and delicious and I got some honey mustard dipping sauce, too. Yummy!

So it seems that Auntie Anne's in the South Shore Plaza has expanded into the world of frozen treats. I guess it isn't a unique expansion as the one at South Station is in cahoots with Carvel. This one has its own seemingly separately labeled neighbor "Classic Frozen Custard" yet the receipt spilled the secret as "Auntie Anne's" was printed right on top. They offer their soft serve in 3 sizes - petite/regular/large priced at $3.50/$3.75/$3.95 - and 6 flavors. We ordered the vanilla/orange swirl and were handed petite cones for $3.50. They were soft for ease of licking, yet not dripping! The orange was a sherbet as per the labeling. The vanilla was dairy creamy flavored. Together they were a nice treat!

I had the pretzel sticks with no salt. Too buttery for my taste. Actually saturated in butter. Like you could ring this out and still taste tons of butter. If you are looking for a healthier option for food you will not find it here.
