Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Awesome donuts. Go for the apple fritter, honey bun, and coffee roll. They are out of this world. The donut selection is aplenty. If you cant make up your mind, get a dozen mixed. You won't regret it. Doughboy is an establishment that focus solely on making old fashioned yeast raised donut at its best. Forget the $2 overpriced donut from certain square in Boston. Head over to Doughboy and get transported to donut heaven.

Simple & 24/7 * enjoyed the strawberry / Cream Cheese pastry... great * pecan roll... good * looking for the Apple Fritter next time (sold out when I was there) * they also have a deli and serve food

As I drove by, the Doughboy Donuts sign caught my eye and I found myself drifting off the main street and into one of the slots marked for parking out front. The deli and the donut shop each have their own separate entrances, yet come together in the middle. The donut shop had a Where's Waldo feature, except it is the Pillsbury Doughboy that you'll find yourself spotting, propped up here or there. The layout of the store however reminded me much of your neighborhood Dunkin Donut. In this era of giant donuts priced around $3, it was a pleasure to find a donut option that wasn't a chain and didn't hit the wallet as hard. I picked up a Boston Cream Donut to go for $1.10, and ended up sharing it with a friend. She agreed, it was much better than DD's with its soft and tender donut encasing a none-too-sweet creamy custard, topped with a pleasant chocolate frosting.

When you think of donuts in South Boston, Doughboy is the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast. Wait. What? Did I just say that? Yeah. I did. What are you gonna do about it punk? This is Southie. And this ain't no freakin Staaahbucks pal. These donuts are big AND fresh. And their coffee? So many delicious flavors I can't even remember them all. They make real egg and cheese sammies too. Not like the Dunky Doe crap. They also have a deli serving hot pizza, sandwiches, salads, soups, roast turkey and pot roast dinners and MORE! This place truly rocks!
(5)Gigi L.
not sure if i agree with all the hype. The donuts are good but nothing special here. The selection is pretty small and flavors were typical. It was $14/dozen which is pretty pricey for basic donuts if you ask me.
(3)Syd T.
I thought the donuts here were okay, nothing out of the ordinary. However, they are fine for what they cost. It was cheaper than what I expected..we got four donuts, Boston Cream, coconut, blueberry, and a chocolate donut with some chocolate cereal on it. The Boston Cream was good but, the coconut had a funky taste to it at first then I am sure I got used to the taste. My partner said the chocolate donut with chocolate cereal was good. However, the blueberry was no good because it too had a funky taste to it..maybe it's the oil they use? Overall, the donuts were fine for what they cost. I wouldn't go here again though, not because they were bad or anything, but because I would rather find another place to try that might be better.
(3)Patrick D.
So much better than the chain coffee shops. Everything is made onsite and you can taste the difference. They also have fantastic pizza and subs.

I never was a fan of donuts with fillings...the sweetness is usually too overwhelming and requires excessive milk intake to restore balance to my palate. However, everything changed when I met my first Doughboy donut: the Boston Creme donut. I began by deconstructing it, trying the chocolate frosting first, then the fluffy donut body, and finally the creme. This initial taste didn't pique the interest of my taste buds until I had a taste of the creme. Other donut creme fillings I've had were dense and dripped like a very viscous paint. The creme in this donut, however, was so light that it almost seemed to defy gravity. Holding true to its form, its taste was also very light and pleasant but only very faintly sweetened. That was the moment that I realized the donut HAD to be eaten as a whole because each component alone could never complete what all three accomplished together: the chocolate frosting provided sugary donut essence while the donut bread provided a fluffy scaffolding for that essence and a cozy home for the best creme EVER, resulting in Boston Creme Donut PERFECTION. The mark of skill in one's craft is the ability to not only change how people feel about a particular product, but also taking that one step further to compel people to come to you and you alone for an item that could easily be found elsewhere. At Doughboy's this happened to me with both the Boston Creme and jelly donut. I'm still in shock that I've come to like donuts with filling...mind. blown.

A+ candy bar coffee flavors. A+ donuts and breakfast sandwiches. A+ to the girls at the counter. I love seeing the hard-working folks that stop in here. You can always find a group of folks just sitting around the tables, playing the lottery, drinking coffee and shooting the shit. They're the kind of people that aren't afraid to get their hands dirty - and that's what I love. C- I wasn't the biggest fan of their Italian sub. It just didn't taste right. But I am def willing to go back to try again and try some of their pizza/specials.
(4)Salina B.
The place is good at night, friendly people ,but during the day coffee stinks ,if om paying for it it should be the way I want it not the way you want to give it to me,what happen to costumer being right
(3)Joyce L.
All it took was one glorious photo of a Boston Kreme donut for me to trudge all the way to Southie for this badboy... Okay, so I lied. I had a post-skitrip limp, so my friend volunteered to go on this adventure for me & I just waited for the donut delivery. REGARDLESS, this boston kreme donut is HEAVEN. I had to do mouth exercises to fit it in my mouth because it was so fluffy and ginormous (...let's not get perverted here). The cream to bread ratio is amazing. You will never have a bite of the donut without cream in it... how freaking amazing is that. I didn't get to try the other flavors because I was too full (yes, full from a single donut!), but I will DEFINITELY come here again some time soon since the weather is getting warmer and the sidewalks will be visible again.
(4)Vincent H.
If you want to getup it's that are slightly better than Dunkin', come here. 24/7 but the selection sucks. I'd love to purchase a dozen or half of some donuts but I wish this place made donuts more often. Service is okay but if management cranked out more donuts with better selection compared to a few flavors that are hard to sell then I would come more often!
(3)Shia G.
Modest shop with good donuts. The chocolate glaze is cake-y and perfectly dipped caressing all sides of deliciousness for about a a dollar its a good bet a chocolate satisfaction anytime of day. They have combos of coffee and donuts. While my butter crunch donut all the glaze and "crunch" fell off after the first bite making a complete mess in the car :/ Staff was ok not friendly just visible and the place seemed clean in a old school way, not bright like most food shops.
(3)Angela E.
The pizza here is great. We've tried twice now to get doughnuts...but have had very little selection. We have yet to try any filled ones :( Does anyone know what times of day or night they are replenished? We've tried 7:30pm and 9:30 pm. We want to go when they are fully stocked.
(4)Erin B.
Doughboy has existed in my wildest dreams. A local donut shop in the city that serves homemade breakfast sandwiches with a parking lot and drive-thru? And, apparently it's existed for decades? How have I lived in Dorchester for 1.5 years and only just discovered you? Real talk: Since my discovery of Doughboy roughly 2.5 weeks ago, I have been three times...maybe four. Or the fourth was a dream.... Ok, first of all, Doughboy is not part of "SoBo." It's straight-up old school Southie and should stay that way. The service is friendly enough, but even if it were sharp and unfriendly, the treasures that you get here would more than make up for it. The following information is going to make some people cringe. Microwaves, American cheese, $4 price tag? A breakfast sandwich need not be fancy to be delicious. In fact, I think it's better when it's made with basic, fresh ingredients. The perfect breakfast sandwich: made with real eggs, American cheese (If you want gruyere, there are two locations of Flour Bakery within a 1.5 mile radius), bacon and a fresh croissant. Yes, it's $4 and made in a microwave, but it tastes so good! Now for the doughnuts. Here in the New England, we've all gotten used to the atrocity that is Dunkin Donuts. We don't know what a real doughnut tastes like anymore. If you want freshly-made, authentic doughnuts, Doughboy is your place. The Boston Creme, glazed and chocolate glazed come highly recommended. Oh, and I still can't believe this place is open 24/7!
(5)Harmony H.
If you like traditional doughnuts and you live in the Southie/Dorchester/Seaport area, this is the place to go! They have a good selection of the traditional doughnuts - glazed, chocolate, butternut, french cruellers, honey buns, jelly filled, etc. I usually pick up a dozen of these for my team at work about once a month and everyone loves them.
(4)Shaji K.
Now, by no means will I call this place amazing. However, it's a 24/7 sugar craving fix in a town where things close earlier than they should. Selection here at 2am is well stocked (see picture). Was able to get 1apple pie doughnut, 1 jelly doughnut stick, and 1 double chocolate glazed. Finished all of them, with the apple being the best of the bunch. Don't remember it being expensive, and the hostess was kind despite us being loud. A good stop if you don't mind the area.

I was up early to head to work on a Sunday which is pretty crappy since I have a M-F, 9-5 job. When this happens I like to treat myself to some dessert/junk food of some sort. I've lived in Southie for six years and knew about this place, but I had never ventured in. A friend mentioned it a couple weeks ago and I decided to give it a shot. The reviews were hit or miss (though mostly hit), and I thought "hey, why not?" and took a stroll. It was pretty early so it was quiet inside and I walked right up to the register. Service was pleasant and helpful and after eyeing over all the selection (and a what a big selection it was!) I ended up with a Boston Creme and jumped on the T to work. I got to my desk and sat down. I was going to try to make it to lunch to try it out, but I opened the bag to take a whiff and I was a goner. I took a bite, not expecting it to be terrible, (it's chocolate and pastry, how bad could it really be??), but not great, and surprisingly it was REALLY tasty. My initial thought was how soft the donut was. I saw another reviewer mention how great the filling was, and that comment was on point. It was light, creamy, and had a perfect custard flavor that was an excellent match with the chocolate on top, which was just the right amount of frosting and the perfect amount of sweet. Whenever I get a Boston Creme the first bite is good, but once you hit the custard, it squirts out all over resulting in lost creme. Not this one! The custard stays cozy inside until you're ready to take the next bite. Fantastic overall. I'll definitely be heading back to try out others. I also hear their coffee is pretty good as well.

Stumbled upon this place while searching for a friend's apartment in South Boston, an area I'm not familiar with. I'd been craving doughnuts and decided to take a brief detour and ask for directions inside. The cashier could not have been more kind: she gave me multiple routes to take and did not even charge me for the Boston Cream I purchased (which was mercifully inexpensive to begin with). I split the doughnut with my friend, who described it as "sugary crack." It was the most delectable one I've ever had, including Dunkin' and Krispy Kreme. It was fluffy, rich, and not overly sweet, making for the perfect indulgence. Thank you, Doughboy!
(5)Danielle E.
Great place to get late night breakfast sandwiches that are yummie! Saturday 2:00am necessity.
(4)Kristen D.
This was the first place I was brought to on my first ever trip to Boston (I requested to have an authentic Boston Creme doughnut) and it didn't let me down! We got a couple of mini Boston Creme donuts since the others had already been gobbled up, but they were DELICIOUS. Freshly made, perfect portion, SO good. We also purchased a few apple fritters which were just as delicious. I am always hesitant to try apple fritters, but this one had a great amount of apple "filling" in it and it wasn't dry at all. Perfect for sharing. The flavored coffee was certainly something I'd never experienced before, but I loved the banana iced coffee. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but I drank the whole thing! Thankfully we have family in Boston so that I can be sure to get here again sometime!
(4)Pamela K.
This place is a gem. The donuts are the best EVER. The girls that work here are super friendly and the deli is delicious. I don't live anywhere near this shop but I make special trips to get donuts, coffee, and scratch tickets nearly every Sunday. Oh and they are open 24/7.
(5)David T.
I have no idea how I have lived in Boston for 40 years, driven a taxi for 10 of those years and worked 1/2 mile from Doughboy for 3 years and only just discovered that they have pizza. And it is excellent, excellent, pizza. It is New York style. I have not tried the doughnuts and probably won't. If they are as good as what people are saying in the reviews and the quality is even half of what the pizza is I will probably end up jumping over the counter and shoving doughnuts into my mouth. Which would just be embarrassing for everyone.
(5)Jason M.
This is it, this is the mecca of a decent breakfast in the desert landscape of Boston. First of all, the donuts are incredible. Remember Dunkin Donuts in the 80's when they made the Donuts in the stores? It's like that, probably better. The donuts are like heaven in your mouth, when you're finished you regret you ate the donut so fast, that doesn't mean the donuts are a great value. I've also tried their bagel breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon, and I'm so glad to finally have had a bagel in Boston approaching comparable with NYC. Each bite was wonderful, the bagel has chew, but not toughness. The staff is wonderful and will make things the way you love. I want to keep going back and trying out the rest of what they offer.
(5)John C.
Always quick to get your order, I have always been given a smile and the coffee is always hot not luke warm like some other places. Not a real pastry person but the few I have had were good and fresh. On the other end the food is good, I don't feel hungry after as the portions are fair. 24/7 for a great cup of coffee and even in the middle of the night you get a smile with your cup of joe
(5)Matt M.
Open 24 hours a day and they serve donuts, sandwiches and pizza! You don't even have to go anywhere else, they have you covered for all of your day's food needs. Only had the donuts the other day and they were pretty good. $6.50 for a half dozen.
(4)Michael K.
Doughboy demonstrates very simply that Dunkin' sells fast food. I got a bacon egg & cheese bagel and every aspect was far better. The bacon had texture, the cheese had flavor. And the egg- not only was it fluffy, but it actually tasted like egg! And the bagel was definitely fresher, like it had been baked on-premises, not trucked in from some industrial bakery way out in Pembroke or wherever. If you're one of the many Bostonians who relies on a daily Dunkin Donuts breakfast, but you don't live near Doughboy, do yourself a favor and don't go there. It will ruin your routine and turn your day starter into a downer. Management- please do a better job training your staff on that circa-1987 POS POS system you have them using. The cashier had trouble ringing up a half dozen bagels for crying out loud, and the other cashier they asked for help had none to offer. I'm pretty sure I got overcharged in the process. But damn, that was a tasty sandwich, so I'll be back often. Because I hear your donuts are even better.
(4)cassandra L.
Luv their sugar raised donuts. My sis's family love their apple fritters. Not a fan of their green mountains coffee. Service is consistently great. 5 mins walk from Broadway station. If u go to SOWA on sunday and you are like me who like a good sugar raised donut. Stop by here. If you like the fancier donut, go to union square donut in SOWA.
(5)Devin L.
Came to Doughboys on a late night (after midnight) craving and was so happy I did! The selection was expansive and had something for everyone. I had a Boston Creme donut- the best I've ever had. The doughnut was fresh and exceptional, the chocolate was flavorful and it was filled with a huge amount of cream! My wife had a donut filled with white cream- also delicious, which is saying a lot as she is picky about her cream donuts! We also purchased an apple fritter which is huge and smells delightful (though will have to wait until tomorrow to try it). The area was well lit and seemed safe, even at the late hour. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Boston!!
(5)Kelley D.
By no means excellent, but this is a great little place that serves pretty good coffee. The coffee is much better than Dunkins, but is cheaper than Starbucks (plus has a drive thru!!) AND I just learned (thanks to Yelp...) it's 24 hours! I work next door and therefore only am nearby during work hours. But while some places with great breakfast nearby close by 2 or 3pm (My Diner, for example) this is good to know! Their breakfast sandwiches are 100x better (and realer) than Dunkins and their donuts are fresh! Their lunch side is... mediocre. Some people love certain things, I've stopped in for pizza slices and it did the job. The place is always packed, and the parking lot sucks, but who cares it's 24 HOURS!
(4)Joseph V.
Doughboy donuts in South Boston. I ordered four glazed donuts and ate them all wish they had more glaze on them, but still very delicious . I was amazed how good the coffee was as well, been to many donuts shops and they always lack on the coffee.
(4)Ryan F.
Great spot, love the folks behind the counter & their donuts. Vanilla Cream & Apple filled Cinnamon are my go-to's here. Get 'em early, get 'em fresh!
(4)Chris H.
Awesome old-school spot. They have chocolate cream filled donuts, which I have a hard time finding elsewhere.
(4)M H.
I'm am what they call night people. For a cup of coffee at 2 3 or 4 am you can't beat Doughboy. The girls behind the counter are always cheerful, even at that hour.
(5)Angel M.
Definite delicious donuts. Reverse six pack. Clean inside. Kind of weird location by a T depot. Nice people work there. Has a very old school feel to it. Prices are low. There are a lot of tables inside, you wouldn't guess it. Looks like people hang out here. I would definitely come back.
(3)Caitlin O.
This place is great!! It's open 24/7, which is great for night owls like me (and the 24 hour options are incredibly limited in Southie), has a drive thru and a parking lot (also rarities in Southie), and is convenient in terms of location (a 5min walk from Broadway T stop and 2 min drive from the highway). The staff are friendly and quick and it's always clean with plenty of seats if you want to sit and enjoy your food/beverages. I haven't tried the pizza/deli options there but the coffee is pretty good (PS coffee is my number 1 place for coffee in the neighborhood) and the donuts are AWESOME!! They have a great selection, they're always fresh (even at 3am) and they are waaaaay better than anything your gonna get at dunks. If you live around here or are just passing thru, this place is def worth a stop!!
(4)spike h.
Doughnuts were good. Staff is friendly. Parking lot is a little small, but overall good doughnuts.
(4)Peter H.
Great pizza: fresh fluffy crust, nice and mild tomato sauce, the broccoli topping was actually tender and not brown. Great baked dessert: special baked dessert called fruit blossoms at the deli.
(5)R V.
Doughboy's 'nuts (Doughboynuts?) aren't flawless, but they fill a gaping hole (!) in the Boston donut scene. They're the only independent shop that's open 24 hours, so if you're looking for a glazed cruller between when all the other slackers close around 6 p.m. and when Kane's (3:30 a.m.) and Twin (4 a.m.) open their doors, it's pretty much your only option. That and Dunkies. So, like I said, it's pretty much your only option. The best part about their long hours is that they start putting out their fresh donuts as soon as they come out of the fryer, which means certain varieties are available as early as 9:30 p.m. or so. I'm always crushed when I drive by Twin at 10 p.m. and see my main man in back, pumping out donuts that are only going to sit there, getting less fresh by the second, until I storm their doors six hours later. So, mad props to Doughboy for giving me access to that freshness. And since they're the only game in town for the critical post-pub time window, it seems almost irrelevant to review their actual donuts. But I will anyway. Relevance isn't my strong point. The marble cruller's my go-to, since they inexplicably don't glaze their old-fashioneds. In fact, when I asked them if they had any, they reacted as if I'd asked for deep fried placenta or something. Against their religion. A religion which, apparently, values serviceable but mediocre donuts. Speaking of which, I love that they have a double chocolate, but I'm always bummed when I get it, because it doesn't even have a single's worth of chocolate. Butternut's weak too. If you get raised, make sure to grab as much frosting and/or glaze as you can get.
(3)Rob C.
Considering the extent to which Dunkies has abdicated its duty to actually make donuts, it's sort of gotten to the point where donuts are more of a rare treat than a breakfast staple. On the other hand, it means that when you really want a donut, maybe you're more apt to go seek out serious ones, ones that are massive, thick, and exceptionally bad for you. Doughboy qualifies on all counts; the cake donuts are crusty but sweet, the chocolate glazed are soft on the inside with a sugary armor, the frosted ones are thickly covered. And yet the glazed donuts are soft and fluffy and properly insubstantial. On a Sunday morning, they didn't seem too busy, and some of the dozen we got seemed like they maybe could have been a bit more fresh (maybe this is a side-effect of being open 24/7), but who cares? Donuts, people!
(3)Felicity L.
I tried their Ginger donut ($1).. I didn't care for the flavor - a bit too hot and spicy for a donut. However, the texture was incredible! Succulent and melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious. I look forward to going back for a different flavor.
(4)Taryn M.
The donuts are fresh and yummy:) the chocolate frosted isn't skimpy on the chocolate and the jelly has lots of jelly which I love! The glazed doesn't have enough glaze, they ran out of jelly glazed and it was 7am which was a bummer, and the butter nut machine was down but overall things were good. The service was kind of impersonal but the girl made my iced coffee amazing!! I got a almond joy with cream and sugar and she didn't skimp on the chocolate:) I was nervous it wasn't going to be flavorful enough but it was DELICIOUS!
(4)Jason G.
Doughboys is a struggle for me. It's a southie mainstay I know but I think this is a clear case of people from Southie wanting to like a local business that makes them feel as though they are more southie for going there. The food is average pizza shop quality and the coffee is slightly better than dunkin donuts but that isn't saying much either. What I really dislike about this place is the rude staff. There is a woman who works there that I'm pretty sure she thinks it is her job to get angry at every order given to her no matter what. You can get barked at for just asking for a slice of pizza, god forbid you walk through the doors and don't know right away what you want to order she will treat you like you are the biggest idiot in the world.
(2)M L.
Thoroughly disappointed. Full disclosure: I'm a total donut snob, and wherever I travel to, I scout out the area's so-called best donuts. Thus, living in Boston these few years has placed Doughboy's on my list of donut shops to try. Unfortunately though, my sampling of the cinnamon raisin cruller, and boston cream, blueberry, buttercrunch, and vanilla cream filled donut holes were totally lackluster and rather bland. While the cinnamon raisin cruller had a nice thick crust, the glaze had no flavor, and the inside of the donut was totally dry and semi-tasteless. Donuts with a Difference in Medford's version (the Gracie Bar) is 100x better. As for the donut holes...not much there. Definitely better than Dunkin's, but really not much flavor. I went on a Monday morning too, so it's not like these had been sitting around all day. Sorry, Doughboy. Also, the woman behind the counter was totally unhelpful. I had to repeat my order literally 5 times and she still couldn't pay attention enough to get it right. I had high hopes for you but you let me down. Verna's and Donuts with a Difference remain at top of my list.
(2)Joanna R.
Friendly service even at 10:30pm! And delicious donuts! Best donuts in the area. I will definitely go back if I am in this neck of the woods again.
(5)Jack N.
great place great coffee and doughnuts and sandwiches you get the fresh doughnuts early like 4-5 great selections honey dipped and jelly to kill for real egg muffins with real eggs and ham Everyone works hard and nice to you not like D.D. i don't drive any more and i miss them ( if management cranked out more donuts with better selection ) come early or buy 2 day old ones at D.D.
(5)Kyle D.
Just went out of my way too come here because the reviews were awesome, I've had a lot better in my life then there's. These compare perfectly to dunkin donuts just bigger
(2)John R.
I stopped by around 9 pm for a doughnut and they had a couple of pies on the side which I'd never seen before at night, so I go a slice to go. Many thanks to reviewers that said the Pizza is good It is Great! Pizza like Lasagna is something very personal in taste because of all the versions. Also so easy to make, yet so much can go wrong. The crust, (thin, some dough to it or Sicilian) theirs has some dough to it. The sauce, (plain?, some sweetness?, well seasoned?) theirs is somewhat acidic and is well seasoned with Italian herbs and was a great ratio to the cheese. The cheese (different varieties of Mozzarella & some places mix in Parm. or Romano) to jazz up the cheese... Oh and How much sauce or cheese?. Phew,... who knew? Dough boy's cheese was perfect, just the right amount and was flavorful not bland. They get two thumbs up from me on the Pizza too! A huge slice of Pizza & a Boston Cream set me back $2 Just under 93 ( 5-10 min. away) in the South End the same size slice in 3-4, pizzerias will cost $3.50+ and you won't get the doughnut! As usual very friendly staff!

Good pizza, great steak bomb wrap.Have been there few times, decent place for lunch. Quick service.
(4)Alexis J.
The dounts from this place are fantastic and the peanut butter coffee is to die for. I love it!
(5)Anne B.
I ordered 2 calzones and they were delicious. The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. Going to try their pizza next :)
(5)Tinya C.
I am severely disappointed. I strolled in here around 4 PM on a weekday afternoon. I realize I'm not going to get the freshest donuts, but I'm okay with that. I get a half dozen donuts, 2 half moon cookies, and a large iced coffee. I have no problems with the coffee and I have yet to try the cookies. Let me first say that when you stuff six donuts into a paper bag, you're going to have a bad time. There was unbelievable rage when the frosting on my donuts was on the paper bag, and not on my donut. THE FROSTING SHOULD BE ON THE DONUT, NOT ON THE BAG. Give me a damn box if you have one. The donuts were nice and big. My two favorite donuts, strawberry frosted with sprinkles and french cruller, were available to my delight! The strawberry frosted ones were delicious and I liked that there were sprinkles all around. My only gripe was that half the frosting wasn't on my donut, but on my bag. I wasn't too crazy over the french cruller. There was an appropriate amount of glaze (a lot, yay!), but the donut didn't get drained too well. I could still taste a lot of the frying oil. The interaction between me and the person who helped me was awkward at best. I could barely hear her and I wasn't sure if she was waiting for me to order or what. I haven't tried the other donuts yet (apple and blueberry filled), but I can't forgive the paper bag. Overall, a disappointing experience.
(2)Katherine D.
This is the best breakfast sandwich in Southie. Everything is made fresh and the girls are always super friendly and efficient. I love the Iced Tea, Coffee and donuts as well. Extra points because there are always tons of hot cops in there getting their morning joe.

I stopped for the donuts - a full parking lot at 9pm is a sign of a great donut shop. Their pumpkin donuts are better flavored than what you get at Dunkin's, and being open 24/7 is a bonus in a late-night-challenged city like Boston.

This review has been gathering dust in "draft" form for quite a long time now. I suppose it's time to get the ball rolling, and add it to the list of finished/posted reviews. As many before me have mentioned this is a great place to the old geezer, and myself to stop for coffee break on our way too and or from a job. He like to buy scratch tickets on occasion (just to break up the 'quick pick on the 5 weeklies!') and I have been known to demolish a breakfast sandwich, or almost ANY kind of donut with the best of um. What makes this place particularly appealing? It has the most bizarre drive-thru ever, and listening to my father try to interact over scratchy speakers about boston cremes is pretty much priceless. If I'm over this way, it's the only place I'll try to stop at for coffee and a treat (savory or sweet) but katherine d --- where are these hot cops you speak of!? I've never seen um... Guess this means it's time for a return visit...

Green eggs... Another South Boston bomb that's survived out of pure necessity. Like many others, the clientele here frequents this place because they need to. Example, cops and cab drivers on duty, drunkerds w/no other options, and those on a college freshman budget (homeless people included). I went here at midnight and I'm no drinker, so unfortunately, I was 100% sober. If I could do it all over again, I would either take back the abuse that I subjected my taste buds too and either forgo eating, or go in slaughter housed. I ordered an egg and cheese muffin. How bad could it be right? Prepare yourself... My egg was green. I didn't even know how to respond. How in the hell did I have green eggs w/no ham... Was this shit cooked by Sam I Am? Fine. I have back up, a fat ass red velvet cupcake on some serious hormones. No cupcake should be that big, that's why it's called 'cup o' cake' and not, 'big ass bowl o' cake.' Whatever, I'm fiend out on cupcakes so I ordered it anyway. Nastiest baked good to ever hit my palette. Damn I wish I could untaste that. I think somebody used a cupcake mold, went to the beach, sand castled my shit and topped it with paper mâché for the icing. I know why people go to Dough Boy. I really do understand necessity, budget, and desperation, and homelessness. What I don't understand is the repeat customers. Why they would habitually assault their taste buds is beyond me, but one thing is for sure, I'll drink a pint of water with the hopes of subduing my hunger before I step foot in Doughboy Donuts again.

Don't let the name fool you. This place is not your average donut shop. It's like Dunkin Donuts on steroids. They sell everything from pasta to Italian subs to much more.u

Perfection in a donut. Hands down the best in Boston. Fresh, delicious, and BIG donuts. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Dunk's donuts have gone on a serious diet recently. Not these guys. They're still kicking, and still CHEAP! A buck for two donuts? Heck yes. Coffee ain't bad, and the attached deli definitely gets the job done. Not fine dining by any means, but satisfying.

Who makes Donuts at 9pm?!?!? (Doughboy does.) Seriously, I want to wake up to a fresh donut in the morning... not one that's been sitting around for 12 hours. I've had their donuts when they are fresh and they are almost on par with Peter Pan's in Brooklyn (aka Donut Mecca as far as I'm concerned). But who wants a donut in the middle of the night? I've also had one of the worst Blueberry muffins in my life there... I would have given this place 2 stars but alas the attached deli serves some of the finest pizza this side of 93. Yeah it's doughy (it's called Doughboy's after all, what did you expect), but its always fresh and the sauce to cheese ratio is just right. Unlike the rest of Boston, the slices there are still under $2 and a large pie is under $10. Unfortunately, Doughboy's deli isn't open 24 hours like Doughboy's donuts. So now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Great coffee flavors and donuts are really good. Order was almost correct (thus only 4 stars) Also the deli side is convenient and food was good.

If your in the area & in need of coffee, food or just a drink ... Make this place your stop .. The ice coffee is awesome & comes in 15 flavored ..they have a variety of breakfast foods .. I highly reconnect the ham egg & cheese . While you are there grab a scratch ticket or play kino .. If that's not your thing than you can always grab a slice of pizza, sun or daily specials at the deli. All the food varieties are delicious & made daily .. The staff I's polite & friendly . Whenever I am In south Boston I make this place a mandatory stop & so should you !

Took my first trip to Doughboys for lunch last weekend and I was nervous when I got my first glance of the interior...but man-oh-man...did I have a great tastin' sandwich. Maple Glazed Ham and provolone, freshly carved (about a pound of it!) on a fresh grinder roll...covered with tomatos, pickles, and olives and a handful of Cape Cod potato chips (for the crunch factor) just the way I like it. Sure - the place is a bit scary looking, but that sandwich was stellar and I'd certainly go back to order it again. There is something about fresh deli meat on a sandwich that just tickles me pink.

I sometimes get donuts here. They give you your money's worth, and not a penny more. Also, there's no restroom. It's not easy to find a restroom in South Boston.

Remember back in the day when you could go to Dunkin' Donuts, sit down, & get a steaming cup of coffee & a fresh donut served to you by someone from your neighborhood? That's how they still do things at Doughboy Donuts. My sausage, egg & cheese on a croissant was hot, fresh, & tasty. And the Boston Creme donut was tall, fluffy, & balanced with just the right amount of filling & frosting. This mornin' the place was filled by a coupla geezers & some workin' stiffs fuelin' up on their way to the job. But even if you're not a member of either of those demographics, you owe it to yourself to drop by & discover what they already know: That Doughboy Donuts serves no-nonsense good food at honest prices. Oh, & they sell lottery tickets, so pick up a scratchy if you're feelin' the luck o' the Irish.

Doughboy is a great alternative to Dunkin' during early morning or late-night munchies. It is a bit further down Dorchester Avenue from the 24 hr. Dunkin' at Andrew Square, closer to Broadway. If you go late-night, you'll find the entire nstar & southie police force (+ some random keno crazies). There are a handful of tables, so there is a good amount of room for people to sit and eat (opposed to DD where standing is the only option). As previous people have stated, the breakfast sandwich is much yummier and less processed tasting (compared to DD). I had the egg & cheese on a croissant and my boyfriend had the bacon, egg, & cheese on a bagel - both delicious. The hazelnut coffee was strong without being too sweet. We also took home a chocolate cruller (oddly bar-shaped opposed to a ring) and a cinnamon roll. I had never tasted a chocolate flavored cruller before and WOW, so yummy! The cinnamon rolls are HUGE and covered with a sweet, white icing. Definitely sold on both of those and would purchase both again! A go-to for a quick bite to eat if you're in the area.

Based on what I ate this morning, I've got to say I cannot fathom what people see in this place. I don't care if it IS open 24 hours, there is no excuse for a old-fashioned cake doughnut to taste like it's been sitting there for two days waiting for me to show up unannounced. Stopped in at 1 on a Sunday afternoon, so unless their excuse is that they don't bake (or fry, whatever) on Sundays, this is a bust. Add Doughboy to the same short list that Joseph's (worst damned pastry on the planet, as far as I'm concerned) is on. I shoulda kept on driving until I hit Dunkie D's. Whatever happened to that doughnut place on Dorchester Ave? Oh well, it's gone now, leaving the independent doughnut purveyor's field to this loser. Too bad.

I stop here almost every morning. I actually drive by a Dunkin Donuts to go here. There are a few reasons why. First off, the coffee is better. Now I am not one of those guys that will spend $30 on a pound of coffee and am all crazy about it or anything like that. I just know what I like, and their coffee is better then Dunkin's any day of the week. More importantly, they are very consistent with how they make it for you. If you order the same thing every day, you will get the same thing every day. What a concept! The food is not something I can speak to, so I won't. Oddly enough, they have a ton of lottery & keno going on there. I have heard great things about the Deli side, but you should probably check some other reviews for more on that.

It took the blizzard of 2013, when nothing else was open for miles around, for me to actually go into this place. Had a surprisingly tasty sausage and cheese on croissant sandwich (took a pass on the egg). Will be back.
(3)Kathe T.
If I'm too lazy to make my own coffee in the morning, a stop at Doughboy is a pretty good bet. The coffee is consistently well made and inexpensive.
(3)Aaron H.
Best place in Southie to get an iced coffee that has a drive through. The make a good sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich as well. Donut selection is different and well worth checking out.

Came back to Doughboy's for the first time in years! Went to play some drums with a band down the street and stopped in for a slice o' pizza. Used to come here after going to the gym when I went to Gold's down the street years ago (probably not a great idea to down a slice after sweating at the gym but I'd be hungry after lifting....sigh......). Anyways, $3 for a slice and a can of soda, can't beat that. Sweet sauce, good cheese, doughy crust (doughboy's name is intact). Good slivvy of pizzer, I hear good things about the doughnuts however. They serve fried chicken too but it sits under a heat lamp, so probably not worth the calories. I think the coffee is New England Coffee which is served at convenience stores so I don't know how it could be that good...but, others seem to rave about it so maybe they double-brew it or mix in some decent dust with it. Great to see this place thriving, it's open late night and it's a nice juxtaposition to the new loft apartments and real estate developments down the street near the Broadway stop that make the neighborhood look like a block out of the financial district rather than Southie. Hit up Doughboy for a slice or a doughnut, you'll be glad you did!

This is the closest place to a Dunkin Donuts that I've found. Only non-corporate and much better. Perfect for weekend breakfasts. Drive-thru: operational (have not tried, but looks fantastically efficient) Donuts: Pretty good selection and they're tasty Other items: Pastries, bagels, muffins brownie-things. Lime rickeys! Keno! Price: Reasonable. $8 got us an apple turnover, a donut, a muffin (they might be the only place that still has pumpkin muffins and they're definitely NOT left-over from Thanksgiving), a large hot tea and a lime rickey. Totally worth the 10 minute drive. Totally made my Sunday. Do you know how hard it is to find a good egg and cheese sandwich in Boston? Very hard. Sure, Dunks has them, but their eggs are fake, rubbery and gross. Doughboy, I'll be back for an egg and cheese sandwich. You can count on that!
(4)Josh P.
They serve the best donuts in all of Boston. I especially love the Boston Cream donuts. Their breakfast croissants are yummy! The staff is equally as pleasant. If you go here, you'll never go to Dunkin again.
(4)Colleen B.
I was so excited to see a non-chain donut shop! Go Doughboy! Go Doughboy! The decor is a little out dated, but don't be frightened donutty delights await. Or if you want to drive-thru you've got that option too. (They do take cards too!) The donuts look amazing and sizeable, I haven't sunk my teeth into them yet, but I did savor some of the generous half moons. For the uninitiated a half moon is a cake-like disc smothered with one half chocolate frosting and one half vanilla frosting. These are up to par and definitely will satisfy your sweet tooth. I still like the freshness of Lyndells in Somerville better. After reading fellow yelpers talk about the breakfast sandwiches I'll definitely be back to try them.

I'm from the south, so traditionally coffee, to me, is something you either brew yourself or get from a gas station. But when I moved to Boston, I was introduced to the concept of someone handing me a cup of coffee ready to drink. I thought it couldn't get any better. 26 years of Folger's was just undone. Then I moved to Southie and discovered Doughboy. I actually get my coffee, donuts, pizza and sandwiches there exclusively now. The deli has awesome pizza and subs as well as home-cooked food. And on the the other side they've got the best coffee and donuts in the Bean. Oh, and the donut shop is 24 hours with a drive through!
(5)Cherie C.
We went on a Sunday, when the deli is closed but Doughboy's Donuts is open for your fried dough needs. I'm not a big fan of donuts, but I appreciate that they make them on the premises. I also love the logo. I'll go back to give the deli a try.
(3)Christopher H.
It is a southie staple. Best pizza in the neighborhood. Great donuts. Great people too. They are always friendly and quick. I live around the corner, and although probably not good for my caloric intake it is just a great place to grab some take out from. Try it.

Never thought i would ever need a coffee and breakfast so early in the morning as i did coming home from new york last night, long trip..,I will tell you this place looks weird on the outside ,but once you walk in the door its a toatally different story great coffee smell..this place is right off the expressway to 93 north and south across from the big T stop sign...had a small coffe regular and a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant the best ive had in a long time or should i say i ever had lol.... and were not talkn Dunkin Donuts,,,if i ever come home that late again they got my buisness in the early morning

Oh man, this place is awesome. It's a throwback to the days of old school local business and not the corporate stores of today. I stopped by Doughboy as it is near my friend's place where I was staying and it definitely has the family-run feel. I was helped by a nice woman who allowed me to take my time with deciding what I wanted because they had so much to choose from. When I began to order, I asked for the Boston Creme Pie, the Chocolate Filled, and I asked her to recommend a third. She said they were all good so I asked for her favorite and she immediately mentioned the Cinnamon Raisin donut so I told her that I love cinnamon raisin bagels and this would be perfect. She suggested that I microwave it slightly to soften it and warm it up when I get back to where I was staying. I'd have to say that the donuts were really good and I really liked the cinnamon raison donut as it was unique and very tasty. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in Boston.

Im upgrading to 5 stars. The last few times ive been there the service has been QUICK and friendly. Not to mention their REAL EGG sandwiches with the melty american cheese on the super buttery melt in your mouth croissant has saved my life multiple weekend mornings. I heart you dough boy. I heart you.

Checked out Doughboys on a lazy Sunday walk. In a word: amazing. Interior is very orange, the donuts fresh, and the atmosphere is all local. Love that it's not a chain shop as well. Recommend you check it out.
(4)Allison C.
I have only had Doughboy's donuts in the morning - but they are good. They are much much better than the donuts at the nearby Dunkin Donuts. Are they the best I've had? No. But if I have a craving for donuts in the South Boston neighborhood, that's where I'll go.
(4)tman s.
One thing i can appreciate is that there donuts are always fresh... Sometimes if u eva been into a 24/7 dunkins there donuts are stale... Not here always fresh...!
