Planning was a breeze even after I went with someone else (to save money) who then canceled 3 weeks before my event. Mark saved my wedding by agreeing on super short notice to cater my wedding. Planning was a breeze and everything went perfectly the day of. All the guests were amazed by the quality of the food. And we were blown away by the staff as well. I completely understand why these guys are ranked #1 in Boston!

I'm a professional event planner who has had the pleasure of working with Mark and his staff for 7+ years. When I got engaged I absolutely knew I was going to ask him to cater my wedding. My bride and I actually decided that one of the priority factors when choosing a venue was that it had to allow outside caterers. Although I'm an event manager by day, I wanted to be able to fully enjoy being a groom at my own wedding. We decided against hiring a wedding planner for the day of the event so we relied heavily on Mark, his staff and a few good friends to take care of all the details. From set-up, timing the wedding party procession, coordinating announcements with the DJ, and packing everything up - we didn't have to worry about a thing. An incredible gift for me, who was in charge of planning "logistics", and my bride,who was in charge of "design". Mark was extremely patient with us as we selected a wedding menu that was very non-traditional. We eliminated the plated dinner and chose to have 3 stations instead. Make your own: pasta, taco and sliders. This invited our guests to interact with each other and extended the fun they were having at the cocktail hour. I heard rave reviews for the food - and each station was beautifully decorated and really fit our rustic chic theme. We tried to control many of the details that day, but left the specifics of catering decor to Mark. He really listened to all of our ideas and executed them in a really beautiful way. Everything in the room looked like it was in a magazine. One of my favorites was the cupcake table. We chose 3 kinds of cupcakes in lieu of a wedding cake. We asked him to incorporate a really interesting fold out sewing box, chunks of wood and our Scrabble themed cupcake toppers. The result was stunning - and delicious! He assigned one server to take care of us and we actually got to eat some of the food - despite everyone warning us that would never happen. Highly recommend Mark for any kind of event!

I hired Above and Beyond Catering for our company Hawaiian Luau event. Our Event Coordinator was Will, and I have to say I was very impressed! They came in on time, and set the food station on their own, and even brought fresh flowers for decoration! Will was very thoughtful and even brought over some containers for people to take leftovers home. He called a couple of hours later to make sure we were happy with the food, which everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. Will came back at the agreed time and cleaned out the station completely and brought even more containers for staff to take food home. I have to say, this company really does live up to their name Will really went above and beyond to make sure our event went as smoothly as possible. Thanks so much, Will! You made my event a complete success!

Ok, maybe you think it's crazy to review the guys I didn't hire, but their attitude speaks volumes to me. I spoke to Kirby at length about our small wedding with a very limited budget. When he send me the proposal, the (vegan) menu he came up with awesome, it was very professional and the pricing was very fair. The only problem is that the bride's crazy parents had cut their contribution to our already limited budget to the bone, so it was becoming closer to a real DIY wedding. (I'm the groom's mom). I emailed Kirby to thank him and tell him we couldn't hire them, and he called me to see if he could help, and offered me great information on getting some kitchen staff to help with the event. That is really what I call Above and Beyond, so imagine how well they'll treat you if you are an actual customer.

Above and Beyond Catering catered my wedding at the beginning of April. I had the pleasure of working most closely with Mark (the owner) and Jenn. We had looked at two other companies, and found the whole "tasting" process to be super awkward ~ making small talk with strangers while trying to eat and enjoy the food and service they are trying to sell you. Though we did enjoy the food at Above and Beyond more than the other companies, the real reason we chose them was because Mark and Jenn were normal people and they made our tasting at Above and Beyond the least awkward by far! They were both true professionals, and we loved that they sent some leftovers home with us so that we could really enjoy the food in a more relaxed environment and take our time in making our decision. The professionalism we saw in the initial meeting carried through in every interaction and we felt very confident that our wedding was in good hands. Jenn was incredibly helpful and easy to work with during the planning process. Though i made some unusual choices around linens she went along with everything I asked for and carried out my vision perfectly. Between her and Mark, I felt that every little detail had been thought of and attended to. The day of the event the food was just as delicious as we remembered. The guests raved about the hors d'oeuvres served during cocktail hour and we got lots of compliments on dinner as well. Everything ran so smoothly, the entire staff was so friendly and ensured our guests were well taken care of. We could not have asked for anything more. I would absolutely recommend Above and Beyond for any special event!

We had a party 20 miles outside of Boston and Above & Beyond was happy to accommodate us -- which was fantastic. They were extremely well organized in their pre-event discussions and planning. Fairly priced, good menu planning, and great ideas. They arrived on time -- prepped the food very efficiently and prepared a delicious and beautifully presented buffet. All the guests were impressed by the quality and taste of the meal and the extremely professional manner of the staff from Above & Beyond. Everyone said 2 thumbs up and we certainly agreed. Highly recommended. Clean up was as efficient as setup -- desserts were delicious, and all leftovers were stored in easy to use containers for later consumption.

My best friend recently got married and Above and Beyond was their caterer. I think the ultimate test of how good the food is, is how much food is left on the plate after they're done eating. Everyone's plate was completely empty. You hear about wedding nightmares and issues with caterers at weddings, but Above and Beyond is absolutely an exception to that rule. She had a last minute addition to the guest list (day of the wedding), no problem, they accommodated it. I had the Filet Mignon and I can honestly say it was the best I've ever had. The hors d'oeuvres were delicious as well, but my favorite part of all were the almond macaroons. Oh my... I could eat them every day. So delicious. They did such a good job that you barely noticed them, you could really just pay attention to what was going on with the wedding and then you'd look down and see something else delicious on your plate. I don't know about their pricing, but their service and food were excellent. Highly recommended!

Above and Beyond catered our wedding in August 2011. They were amazing and truly worked miracles. We were supposed to get married on Sunday, 28 August 2011 but due to Hurricane Irene's anticipated arrival in Boston that morning, at the last minute at 12pm on Friday, 26 August, we moved our wedding to take place at 10am on Saturday, 27 August. Only because of Above and Beyond's resourcefulness, professionalism, and generosity, were we able to actually have our wedding. We were thoroughly impressed by Mark and his team, and their drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and cake were superb and incredibly delicious. All of our guests fell in love with the cake which was gorgeously simple and covered in luscious berries. Above and Beyond provides stellar service and value and we highly recommend them. We cannot thank Mark and his team enough for everything they did for us.

A great find: will definitely use again!! I hired ABC on rather short notice. Herby got me scheduled! Then Will took over helping shape & refine the menu & the rather complicated logistics. It was my husband's surprise birthday. They did the walk-thru of the 3 part event via pix, to maintain the surprise. They worked in 2 different kitchens & on a windy, outdoor venue. The food was exceptional, inc veg options for appetizers & dinner - treat yourself to the vegetarian napoleons... & order extra, the only thing we ran out of! They did great grandkid options that made the kiddos feel special! And the carrot cake (which we order, buy & make often), the best ever! The staff: Lara, Joey & Tegan (with set-up help from Kirby!) were wonderful. Polite, discrete, timely, just plain perfect! The best part for me, I throw a lot of dinners & parties, I didn't have to do any clean-up & had lots of packaged, labeled leftovers! Thanks ABC!

Above and Beyond charged outrageous delivery fees. I had them caterer two lunches, one for 45 people and one for 80 people. The menu was soup and salads. They bought the same amount of food for both days. We had too much the first day and ran out the second.

Above and Beyond catered my post-wedding reception and I could not be more thrilled. In addition to delicious, creative, and beautiful food, the atmosphere they created was phenomenal. When I walked into the room and saw everything set up--it literally took my breath away (from the beautiful chairs and linens Kirby picked out to the centerpieces inspired by me spending too much time on Pinterest that they were able to pull off with style!) We had a bit of an unusual event, since we were returning from a wedding abroad a month earlier and coming off two weeks of a honeymoon to a second party. We really relied on Kirby and his team to pull off so many of the details of the event for us and we were in GREAT hands. They were so responsive in their communications and professional leading up to and during the event, we were able to relax, have fun and trust that everything would go seamlessly. I believe that one of the biggest tests of a catering company is whether or not its employees would hire the company for their own event or wedding. Not only have I seen employees at ABC hire Mark Haley to cater one of the most important days of their lives, but I myself would hire him to do my wedding if I still lived in the Boston area. Mark cares deeply about every detail of what he does, and hires some of the best service and kitchen staff I have seen anywhere in my 10 years of food service and event planning/management. Everyone at ABC is hard-working with excellent customer service skills! I certainly miss the fantastic energy at ABC, and wish Mark and his team all the best. Oh, and the food is always phenomenal, from the in-house pastry chef who is an absolute artist, to the head chef who comes up with innovative and new menus and dishes on a regular basis.

WOW. The name says it all! Mark and his team were incredible and we can't be happier with the services they provided for us for our Welcome Dinner event before our wedding. Not only did they provide absolutely delicious food, they also provided excellent service, extreme professionalism, in-depth knowledge of our venue (the Cyclorama) and other add-on services that were beyond the scope of our original contract. In the wedding industry where it's easy to get away with providing mediocre service, Above and Beyond did everything in their power to make sure our event went smoothly and every detail was dealt with beautifully. Moreover, they accommodated our request for really unique and innovative vegetarian cuisine wonderfully. The guests loved the food! They were my favorite vendor to work with - you won't be disappointed if you hire Above and Beyond!

I rarely write reviews, but I am moved to do so by the incredible service provided by Above and Beyond catering. I contacted A & B on relatively short notice (3 wks) to cater a surprise birthday party in my home. At every stage the people I interacted with were superb. From Shannon, the event planner who actually came to my home 3 days beforehand for a site visit so that all could be anticipated, to the site manager Michael and the Chef Cheryl and bartender Steven. Not only were all the individuals completely and utterly professional, hard-working and pro-active, they were also nice, interesting and personable. Although everyone was fantastic, Michael deserves special recognition for his organization, anticipation, and endless energy- he puts the energizer bunny to shame!!! What about the food? Fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. And the birthday cake....I am always dubious about large cakes, but the coconut creme cake with buttercream frosting was out of this world. Moist and delicious!! I can't wait to host another party- just so I can see the crew again!!! I would urge, encourage and recommend that anyone planning a catered event choose Above and Beyond Catering. An absolute winner!!!
