While taking an overnight trip to the Cape, my girlfriend and I stayed here recently, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This B&B is owned by a relatively young couple who bought it in 2013. Julie and Joe, the innkeepers, are very nice, down-to-Earth folks who were very accommodating during our stay. The Beechwood Inn is a lovely Victorian home with spacious rooms, original wood work, antique books, and all the accoutrements that make it a unique place to stay. We stayed in the Rose Room, which features a four poster bed that stands high enough that, depending on your height, may require the use of a stepping stool to climb into (included). After waking, Julie served us a delicious breakfast of yogurt with fruit and granola, along with French toast with homemade blueberry syrup in the cozy fireplaced dining room. This bed and breakfast really added a nice touch to a trip to Cape Cod.

Definitely a charming place run by the kindest, most helpful people who make you feel like guests in their home (which is the situation!). We stayed in the Garret room which has tons of architectural quirks and made us feel like we were ascending into a treehouse to sleep. Despite the old home touches, the bathrooms are clean and new. Finally, the cookies served fresh frequently are amazing.

Great place to stay. We had the upstairs rom with queen. There was a large walkin closet, and 2 baths. The main bath is spacious with a full clawfoot tub. Very clean and well decorated. The location is convenient but quiet. The innkeeper is friendly and talkative about the cape and other things. The price was just right. We loved it. Try to stay more than one night.

Just got back from a great 3-night trip with my husband, celebrating our 1-year wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we knew we made a great decision deciding to stay here. Ken, our inn-keeper, was definitely born for this job. One of the most hospitable, kind, and extremely knowledgeable people we've ever met, he made us feel comfortable and at home right away. He showed us to our room, a third-floor, seemingly attic-type room (but not the dirty, storage attic one would imagine), known as the Garrett Room. Rather, this room was clean, quaint, old-fashioned, and covered wall-to-wall with beautiful old wood, which made us feel like we jumped back in time (in a good way). The bathroom was pretty new looking with that old charm to it, and had double sinks (a luxury for us coming from a small Queens apartment with a tiny sink). Breakfast each morning was a pleasant surprise of various baked delicacies, prepared fresh by his hired chef. As we ate, we engaged in pleasant conversation with other guests, as well as Ken, about what to do, where to visit, and places to eat during our time on the Cape. Ken was like an endless encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to all things Cape Cod-related. We were very impressed. The area where the inn is located is right on the main street of 6A, but nestled off the street so you don't feel like you're on a main road. The inn is surrounded by beautiful old beechwood trees (hence the name), and the area directly around the inn boasts tons of restaurants and cute antique shops, and is in a great location central to the cape. Only an hour from Provincetown and no more than 15-20 minutes to other towns. We definitely took advantage of the central location and covered a decent amount of the Cape during our short stay there. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a beautiful, charming and old-fashioned inn with an extremely personal touch.

So my wife and I stayed here this past weekend. To start the whole experience off, we arrived early and found the cleaner working tidying the joint up, no innkeeper to be found. It seemed a bit tattered on the edges for 200.00 a night, but hey, it is the beginning of the cape. She gave us the key and we "checked in" without doing any kind of checking in, just her telling us where our room was. Oh, by the way, their website says "two night minimum stays on weekends". That is not the case, as we stayed one night (Saturday). We got the top floor with the "seasonal view of cape cod bay". let me decipher that phrase - it means when the leaves are all dropped you may get to see the water. We couldn't see any. The Garret room looked great from the photos, but in reality if you're over 5'7" (my height) you're going to have trouble navigating the room where the bed is. I cracked my head on the ceiling numerous times. The tv is out of place and doesn't make much sense, nor does the wifi password that doesn't work (which is listed in a book posted in the room). The beach IS NOT standard walking distance to the B&B, and parking is for RESIDENTS of Barnstable only. The walk to the beach is roughly 2 miles (so if you have kiddos or are lugging anything at all, it makes it quite a long walk back and forth). We spoke to other folks who were staying at the Beechwood and they said they had checked in through the cleaner as well and hadn't seen the innkeeper until the following day. Saw the innkeeper that day for about 10 seconds out front (around 4:00pm) and she said "I haven't checked anyone in yet" to which I replied, the cleaner let us in, and she walked off. We tried to get a hold of the innkeeper at around 8pm that night to light the tiki torches outside, but no one was home. We called their cell and the co-owner said that she should be back soon. We never got to light the torches... The "gourmet" breakfast is fruit, a muffin and a cheesy sausage loaf...I wouldn't call that "gourmet". I put items in quotations because it's specifically lifted from their website or their yelp page. Misleading, disappointed. When I walk into a B&B, I expect warmth, comfort and the "above and beyond" service that I don't get at a hotel. This whole situation felt like 2nd generation owners who phoned it in, and really didn't care about service and quality.

Absolutely horrible experience with this place. Booked a room only to show up and find that the property was oversold. The management refused to help me find alternative accommodations and made me stage a two hour battle with Agoda and Booking.com customer support to get new accommodations. They then lied about the booking and tried to claim it was for the next day (pretty bizarre given the clear documentation I had that they were dead wrong). Incredibly outrageous customer support. Regarding the actual property I had stayed here in 2013. It was okay (breakfast was legitimately bad even under previous ownership and location wasn't great though weigh it against lowish cost and ability to get a room--probably because it isn't the most popular property--at the last minute). The fact that they refused to give me the room I had reserved means I will never return but if every other place is sold out and you have time to kick on the off chance this place butchers their reservation list I suppose it is better than the local Motel 6.

Lovely bed and breakfast inn. Innkeepers Julie and Joe were warm and friendly and Julie's home-cooked breakfasts were the best. Lovely mid-cape location on the beautiful 6A side. You cannot go wrong with this lovely inn.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
