I really love Lela's in Vivian! It's located just off of Hwy 1, in what was once obviously a gas station, and even more obviously a Texaco. I can just tell these things. I used to live off of Texaco burgers back in high school. The inside of this place still somewhat resembles the inside of an old Texaco. The food is blue plate/home cooking/soul food goodness. I enjoyed in the late afternoon, the beef tips over rice, greens and mashed potatoes. The roast and carrots looked outstanding and had I seen that first I would've definitely ordered that! My meal was yummy and kept my strength up for the 45 minute drive back to Shreveport, and then some. Every part of the meal was tasty and delectably and distinctly southern. Vivian, for such a small town has three decent restaurants offering different menus. Of course there's the aforementioned Lela's, and then there's also Outlaw BBQ and Chavo's Mexican Restaurant (See my reviews for both here on Yelp!). All restaurants located within a short mile of each other, on Pine Street just off of Hwy 1. As far as dining out goes, as a (Vivian-ian?), why would you ever really leave town? Also, being a former gas station with an attached awning where gasoline pumps were once located, Lela's does offer some parking in the shade, which is nice during these blazing hot months, or during the occasional downpour of rain.
