Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Really good fried pickles, and pizza that was very homemade fresh, had mushrooms on the pizza and most pizza places use canned, not these guys!! Also the fried pickles have a little kick to them making it a pleasant surprise, will go back for something different next time....

We stopped in on our way to tour St. Joseph Plantation. We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious our lunch was. My husband & I both had a side salad, instead of fries, & a poboy. I had the shrimp, he had the catfish. The best surprise was that they use Leidenheimer bread from New Orleans. Poboy foodies know that is the BEST bread! The seafood was well cooked and plentiful. The side salad was perfect. A mix of greens & spinach, no iceberg, cucumbers, tomatoes & a pickled okra. Our server, Lanney, said that the chef has amazing specials at night. Lanney was very personable & helpful. The place is not fancy but it is worth a stop.

We stayed at Oak Alley Plantation, and wanted something local, and found D J's through TripAdvisor ( couldn't locate it on Yelp)? The food here was simply excellent -- had duck and andouille gumbo, and the fresh mediterranean fish; husband had caesar salad and the crawfish and tasso pasta. Nice dark roux-based gumbo had a hint of spice, great flavors, salad greens were crispy, not over dressed; pasta plate was huge and delicious, fish perfectly cooked, with wonderfully sweet carmelized onion and peppers. We're supposed to be dieting (!) so left off the hollandaise sauce and left half the meal on the plate, and still waddled out. It was so good, was challenging to leave anything behind. If I ever come through here again, I'll make this my first stop. There are mostly locals (think most tourists would be off-put by the absence of signs, and like my husband, say, what? you really want to eat here?!?) the menu is varied, and they manage to pull it off with delightful servers and really good food! Certainly an unexpected treasure to find in the middle of basically no-where!

The food was plentiful, but very salty. Also, not sure how you run out of tarter sauce at 6:00 pm.

This place is absolutely amazing! My mother and I take a trip each year to tour plantation homes and this year we decided to go to Oak Alley and the Laura plantation. By time we got done touring both we were tired and hungry. We stopped at D J's thinking it was just a little hole in the wall pizza place. When we got the menu we were both astounded at the variety of food offered. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer to start. When that first dish arrived at our table I almost fell out of my chair! The presentation was equal to any 5 star restaurant. The mushroom were resting on a bed of baby spinach and tasted as good as it looked. I order the pecan praline catfish for my entree and we shared a bread pudding for dessert. All I can say about the food is OMG!!! If you are ever in the area you HAVE to try it. Amazing!!! I don't know where they found the chef but they better hold on to him with both hands. My mom and I have already decided that we will be making the 2 hour drive just to eat there again!!!
