Was staying here on the way to New Orleans. Late dinner of salad and gumbo. Exceptional service and atmosphere wonderful. Must be the place for birthdays, out of the 7 tables there at the time we were, 4 celebrated birthdays! If ever this way again, would be sure to visit again

i took 2 friends there because I wanted to make sure we had a good experience, although I was warned about their steep prices. The 2 $40 each steaks were hard and grisly and the potatoes were cold. Did I mention that they had no record of my reservation?

I've only ever been here for lunch but each and every time it has been very, very good. There is a nice variety of items on the menu and the seafood is always fresh and delish and a co-worker RAVES about the duck gumbo. The blue plate special is usually an excellent bargain - today was a baked potato that was loaded with crab meat, shrimp and crawfish tails topped with a bit of melted cheese and a small salad. The blue plate special comes with a dessert - (meh) - but it is an excellent value at $10.95. Our waitress was top notch, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She also kept on top of the drink service (tea and diet coke) and checked on our table a few times. They are also excellent for functions, have attended two large luncheons here and the food was well prepared and served hot (difficult with a large group, sometimes). The decor is much like a restaurant in the French Quarter - featuring dark wood and high ceilings, and a bit of a rustic flair.

Our waiter, Treva, deserves 5 stars and the food is excellent, but I'm giving the restaurant 3 stars for two reasons: the hostess tried to seat us at the worst table by the bathroom when we walked in 30 minutes before closing time on 4/23/15 despite only one other table being occupied and when I asked that my steak be more fully cooked (my filet had been served rare instead of medium), the chef returned the rest of my plate cold and with an inferior cut of meat. My companions all thoroughly enjoyed their food and, even cold, my food tasted great. My friend was celebrating her birthday & the complementary dessert was absolutely beautiful. I'll definitely try this place again but hope they train the chef & hostess on better customer service before then.

Delicious food. Decent service. Classy New Orleans atmosphere. Impressive interior & exterior decor. I had the catch of the day with the sweet potato hash. It was divine. The brown sugar crust on the sweet potato hash was delicious. Slightly over-priced, but considering what else was available in the area, I was okay with what I paid.

Very nice decor - building history is given on the back of the menu. As for the food our two dishes where very big on flavor but also very big on Salt. Some chefs unfortunately seem to over do it - maybe they are trying to sell more beer. As with most area restaurants the bread was great as was our service. If we return I will be avoiding anything with a sauce.

The best Thibodaux has to offer in fine dining. Excellent food. Great staff. And the beautiful historic building has been brought back to life! The Fremins have done an EXCELLENT job restoring the building. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable. My personal favorite.... The filet mignon! You can't go wrong here.

If I worked in this area of the state more often, I'd probably be twenty pounds heavier and have a lot less money. This place is simply amazing. I get sent on assignment in this part of the state several times a year and will purposefully go out of my way to eat out at Fremin's every chance I get! I haven't found anywhere that comes close in this area of the state and I've tried a lot of the spots. This restaurant basically feels like someone took a great restaurant from New Orleans and placed it in downtown Thibodeaux. The great thing about it is if this restaurant was in New Orleans, the prices would be higher and the amount of food served would be smaller. This place serves bread and two types of butter with each meal. The flavors of the butter rotate and I've never had a bad batch. The food is excellent and portion sizes are generous, so don't order multiple courses unprepared like I did the first time.

A buddy from Houma had suggested that I try this place one time when I went to Thibodaux but I didn't get the chance...Today (3/6/13) I got the chance and had a wonderful lunch with fellow Yelper Re H. The exterior is Old Town Thibodaux, right across from Lafourche Parish Courthouse...the interior was like a step back in time with the dark wood, tile floor and stamped tin ceilings...even with the dark wood the place was light & airy due to the number of those old school wide and tall windows...kinda reminded me of the saloon in the John Wayne movie "The Shootist"...if anybody still knows what movie that is, if not I suggest you watch it...one of the best Westerns ever!! Enjoyed the meal immensely...the bread for starters was delicious, flaky exterior but fluffy inside and so warm, the charbroiled oysters TASTY and the Ground Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection smothered in a delicious brown gravy with sliced mushrooms and onions on top. The fries that came with it were extra yummy coated in the extra gravy from the steak.... All in all, a great experience and a great meal...I will definitely be stopping in here again when in Thibodaux!!

I was very upset after a huge dinner with 2 families, half from NYC and the A/C was out. Everyone was dressed nice and we all were dripping with sweat. I know things break but when you have a business and have events there, management should be sure things work properly. Especially with prices like yours. I sure hope y'all gave a discount for the suffering. Not going back there, sorry

The GF and I had a nice one here... The Cajun cole slaw which accompanied the shrimp spring rolls appetizer thing was one of the highlites. The food was very tasty and it's a nice atmosphere. A pleasant change from fried, fried, fried, fried... Would go back.

Went here based on Yelp reviews - what a meal. I was here only one night for business but was very happy with the atmosphere, staff and food. It will be a stop every time i go back. Out of towner's just need to go here for your where the local's go for Creole.

Fremins is a fantastic resturant. Definitely the best in Thibodaux and a contender with New Orleans' restaurants. I visit here frequently and am never disappointed. Try the crawfish tortoleni or their duck gumbo... fantastic. They are also reasonably priced considering their menu selection.

I went on a Friday night with a big group of friends and overall food was very good and service was grand. We tried three or four different appetizers.. all very rich and creamy. If you're looking to go light that night... I would not suggest picking this place. We also had a variety of adult beverages. They have a grand selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. Pick you poison!

When it comes to fine dining in Thibodaux, this is the top spot. Aside from the bad acoustics in the place, the food, wine, and experience are the best in town. Order some fresh appetizers and enjoy an apperitivo. There's lots of seafood on the menu to choose from, but I typically go for the filet with crabmeat sauce.

always a nice scene..... I love the atmosphere and I love a couple of things like the charbroiled oysters and spring rolls.....they make damn good cocktails too and the guinness is amazing and a steal at $4.00 a pint...I would recommend this establishment as there are few and far between elegant places to dine down the bayou......Andy's right...fine dining...this is your destination!

Great room, good service, and ridiculously large servings highlighted my visit to Fremin's. The space itself is historic and beautiful, with a nice tin ceiling and dark wood. The place was busy, but did not seem crowded. Our server was attentive and pleasant. He did ask (the only time I have ever been asked this), "One check or two?" at the end of the meal. Odd. My crab appetizer was so rich that I felt the need to take a break during its consumption: cheese, crab in sauce, breadcrumbs, and three huge chunks of bland garlic bread. Bread is really big here; a small loaf was brought out before the appetizers, the crumbs and chunks mentioned, and the breading in the entree will allow you to starch your clothes from the inside. By the time the entree arrived, I was already stuffed due to the carbs and fat from the appetizer. The "Stuffed Shrimp" was actually a large plate of four very bready shrimp boulettes and four large pieces of steamed broccoli over a pile of overcooked, not-very-good pasta. Our other entree was a spinach salad, served with a boat of bacon dressing; when poured over the greens, the dressing covered them with bacon fat and large pieces of crisp bacon. We gave up and left with the largest doggie bag I have ever carried. Flavors were good throughout, although the meal would have been much better without the cream, bread, butter, bread, cheese, fat, bread, etc. that smothered everything. I would try Fremin's again, but would get light fare. If they have any.

I love to lunch at Fremin's. The restaurant itself can get a little cramped because they've crammed a lot of tables into a small restaurant. But their food is great and pretty reasonably priced on the lunch menu. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and get a cup of the duck and andouille gumbo. I honestly think it's one of the best gumbos in the area. Salads are always fresh. I like to get the cuban pork sandwich for lunch. It's delicious and huge!!

This beautiful historic place is in downtown Thibodaux and offers an elegant dinner experience with the feel of the deep south. I had about 30 minutes to kill so I walked in and sat at the bar. This bar served more 'old fashions' that night than any other bar I have been to and not to the same person either. There were about 6 at the bar and the restaurant was packed. It was an early Wed. around 7 or so. Fremins is the 'brother' to Flanagans and even though the same Chef oversees both, the menus are different. The service is the same. Point on and attention to detail. Four of my friends arrive and we were taken to our table. It had been many years since I had seen them so we chatted for at least an hour before we even ordered. There was a small 3 piece band playing and my friend got up and sang a song and then we placed our order. I ordered the Flounder Roulade as did Chuck. Our three lovely dates, Rebecca, his wife, and my two friends, Nancy and Karrie ordered seperate dishes. Veal w/ sundried tomatoes and spinach, Shrimp and Artichoke pasta, and the Cream of Crabmeat soup. My fish had the most depth of any flounder dish I had ever tasted. Depth Pun intended on the Flounder. Nancy's Veal was out of this world. I didnt have a chance to taste the other two but their plates were empty and they said it was outstanding. It simply doesnt get anybetter than this. The Fremin Brothers have certainly created twooutstanding restaurants whith two seperate menus. Try them both and you will have a had time picking a favorite. My hat is off to the owners for giving Chef Kevin Templet the ability to be so creative. That is how classics are made. There will be at least one classic from Chef Templet. He has the vision and tastebuds to create the next South Louisiana and it will come from either one fo these two kitchens..

Since I've just lost my full post, let me just be blunt and say quality is really going downhill lately. Bones in the pork, rubbery seafood, out of crawfish, dry veal. Owners probably think everything is fine, as they walk around dining room and get 'oh yes, its fine' Who is going to complain in front of their dining companions? I hope they get a clue, as it really is the best dining option in Thibodaux.
