Healthy Meal suggestions for Texas Roadhouse

So, my family came here due to a mixup between this and Longhorn. I actually wanted to eat here since its been a long while since my last time here, but my family wanted Longhorn. The cinnamon butter is yummy as always! This time, I opted for the Filet medallions with rice and veggies. The medallions were soft, moist and juicy, and the sides were yummy as well! My sister got the Sirloin Beef tips, and she enjoyed hers as well. Mom got Ribeye and Ribs. She was pretty happy with how hers turned out as well. The waitress was on point with her service even with it being super busy when we came. Good thing we called ahead to put our name down! That's one of the things that makes Texas Roadhouse stand out - their Call Ahead feature. You can call to find out the wait, and they can put your name down before you get there so that you don't have to wait as long.

As a vegetarian, I wasn't super thrilled to pull into the Texas Roadhouse for dinner, but my coworker suggested it or the Outback Steakhouse, so I figured I'd be screwed either way. I don't think I've been in a Texas Roadhouse in five years, though I was glad a bucket of peanuts was still provided and that the shells could be liberally thrown on the floor. The menu had a few salads without meat and then the "Veg Plate" which was a choice of 4 sides. Wahoo! Thankfully there was $1.49 margaritas for happy hour. We started our meal with the Rattlesnake Bites, which are like balls of pepperjack cheese served a cajun horseradish sauce. I think the pepperjack would be better in a stick format--or something thinner so it could be somehow crispier? For my "Veg Plate" I had the Caesar salad, "fresh vegetables" which were broccoli and carrots (I doubt it ever changes. . . ), seasoned rice (kind of like fried rice), and then a baked sweet potato with caramel sauce and marshmallows (who offers this?!). Dinner was decent--made better by the random dinner rolls and the cheap margaritas. I laughed because my meal was like Chinese leftovers meets Thanksgiving on Cinco de Mayo. Jim B., my coworker, enjoyed his pulled pork, corn, and applesauce meal. What was random about being in this restaurant, I turned to Jim and basically said, "You know, we could be in any city, USA and it would basically be the same." I suppose sometimes it's refreshing that there is such consistency, but also, shouldn't things be more exciting? I guess they say, "y'all" a bit more down here.

This is my new favorite place!!! I'm 52 years old, and I just had the best ribs that I've ever eaten in my lifetime. I also had the loaded and baked sweet potato. It's like heaven on a plate. I sat alone at the bar and both barmaids were very friendly. They ask your name, and they give you theirs. I was also asked twice by other girls in management positions, if everything was great. My answer was "perfect"! When in Slidell, skip the worst Hooters in the entire franchise, (I went there last night) and give the Texas Roadhouse a try. You won't regret it. I promise you.

Love the free bread of course! It's a hip little spot if you like casual dining. The music is a little loud. The tables seem to be so close together though, I don't like that or the peanuts all over the floor but if that's your style! More power to ya!

Called in reservation for a party of 10 and had a 15 minute wait. We were greeted with peanut shells all over the floor! Which was crazy , but so awesome! When seated our waitress took our drinks and got us started with rolls and cinnamon butter that just kept coming and coming and coming! Best free starters ever...! Appetizers we had the blooming onion, yum. And a couple margaritas, very tasty. Entrees probably one of everything on the menu! Everyone enjoyed their piece of heaven on a plate. My friend even took all the rolls home! All in all, yumm! And definitely a fun and lively environment. Service was great and helpful. Will definitely be back.

I usually stick with appetizers and margaritas. I love the onion blossom and the mild chicken wings. I never go wrong with these three items.

My husband and I always love Texas Roadhouse for their Happy Hour specials, rolls, fresh salads, and juicy steaks & shrimp. We arrived shortly after 4:00 pm on a Weekday so there wasn't a wait time and sat down immediately. The hostess mentioned the soups of the day, happy hour specials, and offered us some of the best rolls as she introduced our server Hailey. I must say Hailey was fantastic, she was very friendly, knowledgable about the menu, and attentive to our table (e.g. made sure when didn't run out of rolls or beverages, cleaned off dirty dishes, brought the check in a timely manner, etc.) I ordered a top shelf margarita on the rocks that was delicious and for the Happy Hour price of $3.00. Entree- I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers that comes with rice and two sides, I chose the house salad with honey mustard & and a baked potato. My husband ordered a steak cooked medium plus that is in between medium and medium well, caesar salad, & a bake potato with the toppings on the side. Everything was perfect with no complaints or steak sauce needed. We will return the next time we pass through Slidell.

Texas roadhouse is a decent steakhouse. The steaks are tasty, but not superb excellent steaks. It's good. Not great. Solid 4 stars. Sit by the bar and you'll get quick, friendly service. Sit at a table and you'll get the same! That's a plus. They have big beers on tap and usually a few good brews along with what most of the peasants drink like bud and coors. Servers are quick and friendly and usually pleasant on the eyes. I like how they serve you peanuts, but I DON'T really care for all the shells all over the floor. Looks dirty. Feels dirty. The decor is nice and gives a rather rustic feel. An over all decent place to eat.

It's just like most Texas Roadhouse restaurants-good! Tasty peanuts and yeast rolls with cinnamon butter come to the table before you order. Steaks are delicious, similar to Outback or Longhorn. What really shines are the ribs. They are awesome. Love the baked potatoes cooked in coarse salt and sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows browned on top.

Great place for casual dining. The food is good. The prices are good. Service is great. Atmosphere is really cool. Plus you get free nuts & rolls with butter. This place always seems pretty packed and there's a reason why!

The food was great. Service was great. First time eating here and will come back. I ordered a sirloin steak with broccoli. I like my steaks medium. The steak was good all the way through. The manager was sweet and gave us a free appetizer for the next time we visit...

I was craving a really good steak, and i didn't want to go to outback. A good friend suggested i try Texas Roadhouse. We heard they had good specials during the day but ended at 6pm, we got there before 6 but wasn't seated till after. They have more booths then tables with chairs, it might be good for them but it did suck for me being a big guy. As we walked in we were greeted from everyone working there. You can see the display case of all there top steaks, and that you can pick them out if you want the hand carved collection. They had a big barrel of peanuts to munch on while waiting, plus you get to throw them on the floor. As we were seated they had more nuts to much on, we started with the cheese fries, and damn glad we did. They were better then Outbacks, probably worse for you but sure did taste better. We were served really good rolls with cinnamon butter which felt like a sweet treat pre meal. When i ordered i thought i ordered TEXAS SIZE COMBO ribeye with a side of Ribs, the waitress asked which size ribeye and i jokingly said the largest cut, She fired back with Ok its a 16 oz i was like hell yea awesome leftovers. My wife ordered the Texas sized Combo Sirloin with Shrimp. While waiting we got our salads which was very good, fresh and ice cold. Didn't take long for our meals to arrive, when they did i thought i heard angles singing lol my steak was huge and if any juicier i would need a rain coat. I dove right in and OMG was it good, i heard something out my wifes mouth like damn try mine, i was like hell no this is too damn good. She wanted to try mine but i nearly forked her when she went for a bite. I did let her try it and she liked it but she likes the lean cuts of steak which in my opinion are sub par steaks, the kind you only eat when the good stuff is not available. I also got green beans that were very tasty but hell screw all that other stuff that steak was Freaking awesome. I had filled up on so many other stuff i couldn't even eat half my steak - which worked out well for my midnight drunk munchy frig raid. My wife liked her meal, i tried a shrimp which was pretty tasty. Our waitress was very nice actually spent more then 30 seconds at our table talking to us, not sure what she was saying while i was destroying that steak but my wife seemed to like what she had to say. The bill was exactly what i thought it should have been. Overall i had a killer experience and i can't wait to go back. As we left they were super packed, but it was a Friday and i am sure all the people that gave up meat for lent wanted to make up for it, i feel sorry for vegans. The smell outside was just as good inside.

Usually packed but for good reason. Great prices and service even though i find that i always have to ask for bread when they just seem to give it to other people. They dont want me to have bread!!!! I should probably steer clear any way. This place is fun and they make a big deal if you tell them its your birthday. I never have but maybe next time..,,,,,, i had the country fried chicken with sweet potato and veg. Tasted great but i had to leave some as after finally getting my warm bread i was totally and utterly full!!!! Yum'
