Healthy Meal suggestions for LongHorn Steakhouse

I gave this place 5 stars even though it is a chain because it really is worth the 5 stars and I'm not gonna withhold a star just because it's not a genuine stand-alone steakhouse. So there. This place will quickly supplant Texas Roadhouse. Roadhouse is alright. This place is miles ahead. I've eaten here several times since they opened and I've sat at the bar and I've been seated a table. The last time I sat at a table, the service was lacking, but only because the server seemed really high (LOTS of servers are high, when are yall gonna stop that?) or something or otherwise pre-occupied, but I won't fault the establishment just because of one scatter-brained server one time. The steaks here are superb. I like their prime rib and it is the second best prime rib I've ever had. Lots of chain steakhouses serve an au-jous that is little more than beef broth boiled with vegetables, but Longhorn's au-jous tastes like good old fashioned beef broth combined with the bloody meat drippings from the griddle. Oooooh boy! Tasty. Baked potatoes are usually nice and large and their green beans are good. Well, they're good in that they taste a little...different. Not canned or frozen green beans served in butter or something, but fresh green beans grilled and then served with some sort of pico sauce. Idk. It's good. But I don't get the prime rib there anymore. I've found a new love. I went there one day aching for a nice prime rib and they had run out. So instead of leaving and going somewhere else or heading straight to the store to buy a nice cut of meat, I asked for the best fire-grilled steak they had and the bartender (VERY nice young lady ;) ) suggested the firegrilled T-bone steak. It was one of the most delicious cuts of bovine flesh I've ever had. THE most delicious cut of bovine flesh I've ever had was at a steakhouse in Pensacola that closed down two years ago. But that's another story. That T-bone came out sizzling hot and medium rare with some sort of lemon butter on it and every single cut of that steak was tender, juicy, red, tasty and oh my god my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The inside decor is nice and kind of reminds you of being on some old cow-polk's ranch or something. It's nice. The bar area is nice and they have a decent selection of taps that pour ice cold brews. I dig it, that's for sure and when I'm hankering for a nice thick juicy fire-grilled steak, this is where I go.

Calling it a "steakhouse" is a joke. The steak was not good. Not at all. I mean...not. at. all. Since I've already started with the bad, let's continue. Our waiter was obviously high. He was all shaky and forgetful. I am always amazed about any member of a wait staff acting this way. Are yall kidding me? I mean, really? We ordered a steak to share and it was mediocre at best and overcooked (we asked for medium. It was not medium. Unless you consider well done medium.) The only thing that was good was the side salad that I ordered (pecans, strawberries, mandarin oranges and feta cheese over romono lettuce...yummmmm) and the complimentary bread and butter. If you go, try anything but the steak.

Not only was our food beyond expectations with quality and taste, this was probably the best service I have ever received at a restaurant in my entire life. Our server Brandon was very respectful, and always fulfilled our every need. Will definitely be returning in the future, and definitely recommend anyone to request Brandon as a server.

I really tried to like this place. First of all, the interior is too much for me. I know it is suppose to be cowboy-ish but it was an eye sore. Anyway, about the food; it was not that great. We had the sampler, which included stuffed mushrooms, chicken wraps, and fried shrimp. Don't let the chicken 'wraps' fool you. The 'wraps' were really fried egg rolls. The fried shrimp was drenched with jalapeño juice. The stuffed mushroom was cheesy and delicious. We both had the ribeye, one with bone and one without (same taste). The steak tasted like it was only seasoned with salt and pepper. The corn was the ONLY hot thing that was served. Everything else was warm. Btw, the service was excellent, but I don't think I'll be coming back.

Our meals were delicious!!! I had a gift card and I got Flo's filet and it was cooked perfectly with a huge side of asparagus which was also cooked perfectly and a Caesar salad. Hubby got the prime rib and the sweet baked potato and a side salad and was cooked perfectly & all was delicious. Our server Samantha & also the staff were super nice. Wonderful evening & worth the drive.:)

My boyfriend really likes longhorn.. So, we placed a to go order: 2 steaks with a side of broccoli, a sweet potato for him and a salad for me. We got home and not only were we not given his sweet potato but, there was a clump of hair in my salad.... Thank goodness I hadn't eaten any of my food. Not to mention my steak was tiny...and burnt to a crisp! He called and explained what happened and took the food back for a full refund. The bartender Cody was very nice as usual. I'm giving them 3 stars for the way they handled it but, I won't be eating there again.

Spinach & artichoke dip was the worst we ever tasted. The spinach & artichoke dip with covered in nutmeg, who does that?

Everything was mediocre at best. The place itself is decent and the atmosphere is fairly peaceful. The service was just okay & little slow. The food was alright, but again nothing special.

My husband and I have been here 3 times and every time has been excellent. We tried all the other chains in the same area...chedders, felipe's, Panera bread... nothing compares to the quality and service that we've had at Longhorn. We've been seated quickly. Waitstaff has been knowledgeable, quick, and nice. Never a long wait for food and served hot. If little things like that matter to you then this is your restaurant for a nice evening or lunch.

I ordered the 11oz sirloin medium cooked. Just after a couple bites my wait staff Greg had come to check on our table. Well when he asked about my steak b4 I could reply he had suggested that it was a little over cooked than medium. Although it was it was still quite tasty but he suggested that he would give me an upgraded steak at no charge. Well within minutes I had a delicious t-bone cooked to perfection. The sides were just as tasty. The place was immaculate. All this at a price you couldn't beat. Again Greg & rest of staff went far & beyond to make our visit one of the best experiences I've ever had dining.

This is Grand Opening weekend. So it was REALLY busy. But all things considered, it was fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection, the onion appetizer tasted like blooming onion without all the grease. If Jerrica is at the bar, you got to get her to make your drinks. This girl knows what she is doing. This will be a busy place in Slidell, but it will be a regular stop on our calendar. Troy & Paula

Food and service was as good as it gets at this brand new restaurant! I got the White Cheddar and Bacon Stuffed Filet and it was cooked medium to perfection. The steak melted in my mouth! Save room for dessert because it is all amazing! Can't wait to go back!

My husband, mother, father, one year old son and I came here for dinner. Our waitresses name was Jamie. Awesome waitress, ask for her! We ordered the shrimp and lobster bisque, the stuffed mushrooms and the spicy shrimp( I think it is called Wild west shrimp) All the appetizers came fairly quick and were hot and tasted very good. For our entrées my husband ordered the 30 ounce porterhouse cooked medium well and my father, mother and I all had the same thing, the prime rib medium rare with two lobster tails. Mom had to have hers refired as it was a tad underdone for her but they got it right the second time around and it was a fresh prime rib, not the same piece she gave back and the manager brought it to her with his apologies and asked if everyone elses was done to their liking which they were. Everything was served in a timely manner and everything was piping hot. We definitely will be eating here again.

Service was ok but the food was terrible. Filet and bone-in ribeye both made us sick aftetward, baked potatoes were poor and the sweet tea wasn't sweet at all. Given the other steak alternatives in town, I can't see these guys surviving unless something changes... and the prices are higher. Go figure.

I visited this location one month ago and I had a good experience. Service was good. I had the spinach dip with chips and it was tasty. I had the filet mignon which was prepared to my liking. Now the reason for the 3 stars is because of my visit on 4/27/14. Once again I had the spinach dip and I also tried the Longhorn shrimp and lobster dip which was good. My daughter had an unpleasant experience with her chicken fingers and my son had a bad experience with his food. I had the spinach feta chicken which was not impressive. I will not go into details as to why our experience was less than favorable. However, I will say that the manager on duty was quick to handle the issues and was very accomidating ( I believe his name was Matt). Due to his prompt response I will try Longhorn again. Nothing is perfect every time and we all are subject to error. I will say that service both times was very good.

Let me preface my review with I come from an extensive F&B background, I decided to give LS a try after they had been open for a few weeks in order for them to get all the kinks worked out because I understand the chaos of opening a new store. Was greeted promptly by the new staff and felt welcomed when i sat at the bar to grab a beer and a sandwich for Lunch. That is where the great part of the experience took a steep dive. I ordered the Steakhouse burger with no onions and it took them 3 recooks to finally not put onions on my burger, the store manager came out to apologize and I wrote this visit off to inexperience. I've been back twice, once for a to-go order that was butchered and they ask me to drive back to the store in a monsoon to get the rest of a $150 order. Once more when I came to the bar around 8 pm and the store closes at 10pm, I could not get anyone to even greet me after 15 minutes so i left. The proprietor of the store really needs to understand that the attention span of consumers in Slidell is very short, if the service maintains it's current course, i don't see much hope for a long lasting stay in this community.
