Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I have not eaten here yet but the food looks awesome and the service was great. I was there for a recommended Margarita which was excellent.

Eh, today's visit was not very good. Live band was awful. They meant well, but they're a little loud for the venue. I do have to admit that easy listening does not get better with a Latin vibe. The food was ok. I recommend adding cilantro. Service was definitely not near the quality Ive come to expect. The waitress seemed much more interested in her phone and flirting with the waiter. It was a slow night.

This place has good, pretty authentic Mexican food. The service is always pretty good too. The atmosphere is chill and nice and clean. Nice place to dine

Carreta's... Before you came along there were only two other Mexican food places in The Dell to choose from to get my fix. One was Taco Hell and the other was a restaurant that I won't mention here because it effing SUCKS. Your margaritas are very large and a very large margarita equals a very happy Angie. I love your Chipotle Shrimp appetizer so much that I usually order two and eat that as my meal. I cheat on the chipotle shrimp occasionally with shredded beef chimichanga. I'm not proud of it but I do. Thank you, Carreta's for saving me from mediocre Mexican food.

Food was not bad, service was very good. The food was good for a place that is not near Mexico. I'm used to Mexican food from Southern California, so the food was not what we were used to. The carnitas were pretty dry, the beans tasted like they were from a can and the tortillas were from the grocery store. We are used to made in house tortillas and chips. Overall, not bad for the area, just not actual "authentic" mexican food.

Love this place!!! Seriously!!! The margaritas are superb. The chips salsa and queso are delicioso! And the prices can't be beat!!! Fast friendly service!!! Love the new location for sure!!!!! Just need more parking!

Good Verde salsa. Regular Salsa was ok. Steak was pretty good. Overused onions and cilantro. And I am not a fan of peas in my rice. Price was a bit high for the quality and taste. Service was a notch above average.

Best Mexican on the Northshore! Best margaritas!

On the way back to Texas from Alabama, had the craving for Mexican food so we stopped here. Not impressed at all. The food wasn't good and was over priced. Even got the trace lunches to go hoping that would make up for the bad meal, but was disappointed with that also, just no flavor. Didn't have any drinks, but they had a good selection.

I like Carreta's. I just found out that they have Happy Hour all day Wed. But it only includes Margaritas. The food is decent and I have always had great servers. Since I don't eat meat and I can't eat cheese, my options here are limited. But they do have some great fish tacos. I know, I know, fish tacos sound gross, but they are really good. They would probably be even better if the fish was grill instead of deep fried. I love how the booths in this place are huge. You can fit a lot of folks in them. All in All its a pretty good place to eat and the prices are not too steep.

Service was good and fast, but the prices were a little crazy, $11.75 for a burrito supreme ground beef no sides!!?? The half price margarita was pretty tiny nothing special, the food was ok nothing I couldn't make at home. Disappointing.

It was ok!

My friends and I eat here pretty regularly. If we want dinner before a movie, we'll go here since the service and food is so quick. We don't have to worry about rushing to the movie. You get salsa and chips when you're seated and it's superb salsa! I always get the queso as well. Melted cheesy goodness! They've got a cute bar in the back if you're feeling like a margarita. I always get the same thing which is the enchiladas dinner but so far there have been no complaints from my friends about any of the entrees. Otherwise we probably wouldn't keep coming back. XD Great local, casual place with friendly service and good food.

This place is the bomb! My wife and I love it. Reasonable pricing, large portions, great service, and margaritas are fantastic. Just order margarita at bar, at bar they are in a glass container, at table they are plastic. Highly recommend, best Mexican food in the area.

This is one of the best mexican restaurants I have been to. My wife loves it too. Portions were large and a soda was the size of a big gulp. The staff was fast and courteous. About 5 to 10 minutes after ordering we got our food. I was talking but it was very speedy. This place is the best around.

Very good Mexican food with good service. We usually sit on the bar side and Alberto is great. Top shelf Margarita is great!
