I have been dining here for 20+ years. I wanted to take my daughter out the other night so I picked the village. She loved it, as it was different for her. I was amazed at the crowd, or lack of, on a Friday night. It's been a year or so, since my last visit. Lots has changed. This used to be my "go to" place for a great meal. Not so now. The menu has changed. The food quality is not anywhere near what it once was. Seriously, the grade of beef used was cheap. The old wait staff is gone. Waiters that have worked there for 10 to 20 years....gone. It looks like business has slowed down considerably and they are trying to cut corners now. I was sad for the place when we left after a $500 meal. Very disappointed. I won't be back unless I hear it has stepped up it's game. I don't know if the Cush's still own the place, but it has gone down hill and won't survive long if things don't change.

I have been there several times. The atmosphere is inviting and quaint. The food is exceptional. The steaks are the best in shreveport for sure. Love the artichoke hearts. Shrimp are excellent as well. The waiters really know their stuff. No menu needed they always have recommendations. Great food and great service.

The Village Grille absolutely has the best chef in Shreveport. The first thing my boyfriend and I said after eating here the first time was that the meal rivaled if not completely defeated some of the best meals we'd had in New York and San Francisco. The ambiance is something else; very intimate and dark. The servers' knowledge of their food as well as the wine list is exceptional. I have absolutely never had bad service, they remember our names, they remember our preferences, and beside that, the food always comes out exactly as they describe. It is a verbal menu, and the meat entrees are presented to you, plastic wrapped, and on a platter so you actually see the cut and quality of the meat. The proprietor of this place hit quite a home run with it, and frankly, I'm surprised more I talk to haven't been. It is definitely pricey, but completely worth it.

Food was very good and the server was extremely knowledgeable. We never actually recieved a menu instead the whole thing was read out by memory which was pretty cool, however when i got the bill was surprised at the price. I have lived in Vegas for 8 years and have eaten at the some of the best places so for me to be surprised it had to be pretty high...lol. Overall experience was very good though

Always one of my options for a romantic dinner. Service is usually good. (We recently got a waiter who thought he was a comedian which was a little exhausting.) Tired dessert menu but the steaks and fish are great. Their appetizers are worth the trip.

I've been coming to the Village Grille for a long time and it is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. It is proof positive that location is not everything because this place is tucked away in the midst of what looks like an abandoned part of town. I think that is a major testament to the quality and staying power of this place. The ambience is dark and romantic. If you get a booth, you have some light but if you're in the middle of the room, you may not be able to see the person across the table. Just a shadowy figure. The service is part of the greatness of the place. The waitstaff are not waitstaff, they're sales managers. They all know the menu by heart and recite it as if they're auditioning for a broadway play. Proper tone, inflection and emphasis on every word. They make everything sound so good, you will want one of everything. Don't get one of everything unless you brought a Brinks truck (the place is expensive). The food is excellent. My favorite part of a meal here is almost always the appetizers. Every single one sounds and is out if this world. I wish I could recommend just one but they're all too good. The salads are very good. Most of the entrees feature steak but there's always a seafood or pasta dish available. I have had one of the best steaks of my life here. They're consistently good and occasionally in "best ever" territory. As I said earlier, it's expensive and they won't give you the prices of anything unless you ask so dont be surprised if your bill hits $100 per person (if you do wine and three courses). This place is old school cool and has been consistently one if the top restaurants I've ever been to, anywhere. Smiley face and a star

Awesome! The food is amazing, you pay for what you get though. The servers memorize the menu and recite it to you, unique but takes a while. Cant wait to go back!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I hate to write very negative reviews...but this place warrants it. I've never experienced such rude service and poor, dismissive, treatment at a restaurant. Anybody who does not live in Shreveport--this place is a mess. The restaurant is situated in a bad area. It's essentially a dressed up road house. There is nothing nearby - it's in a residential area off of a highway. And it's definitely not a good area. You drive by and you'll notice it because of it's cheesy neon signs. See the "Valet" sign, but there's no valet. The Valet is sitting inside the restaurant and when you drive in, he won't come out and get your car. So you'll just have to park in one of the beaten up parking lots near the restaurant, which is actually a parking lot for a nearby restaurant. I walked in and was greeted by a nose pierced high school kid. Granted, I was wearing jeans and a coat - and that apparently warranted being treated like trash for the rest of the evening. Apparently, this place is Shreveport Chic (think faux fur, bras straps hanging out, male ponytails, hairspray, Mullets, and Miami Vice pastel color eye shadow). Yea, I don't fit in...I come from civilization. I sat at the bar and waited for fifteen minutes before anybody came by and asked for a drink order. The bartender never even acknowledged that I was sitting there...despite the fact that it was an empty bar (on Valentine's Day). Then when he decided to approach that side of the bar, he served the couple that came ten minutes after me (because they were apparently more appropriately dressed for Shreveport). I ask for a drink and a menu. They don't have menus. It's a presentation menu...think "Mortons circa 1980's." The only exception is the presentation here is a plastic "silver" platter with sample wet raw meat on it. There are a hundred sides - which they recite in a minute so you can't actually grasp all of the sides. Is a menu really that bad? This poor treatment wasn't just for me, I noticed they two couples sitting next to me who couldn't get service, got a pina colada instead of a chardonnay, and another couple in a corner who sat for 45 minutes who were just ignored because they were a young couple. This is a place that would be out of business in many areas of the country. Shreveport...get real - you shouldn't be fine with being treated like a second class citizen for some mediocre (and yes, it's nothing more than mediocre) food (8 oz. filet, mushrooms killed with onions, and some watery mashed potatoes).

Outstanding! Truly a 5 star restaurant. Sampled multiple appetizers (oysters, shrimp & artichoke hearts)...all sensational. Then indulged on an excellent blue cheese wedge, followed by the finest veal (on the bone) I have ever had, and finished it off with an outrageously good pecan pie. This restaurant was truly fantastic. The service was top notch (Brittany was an outsanding waitress) and their scotch and wine were great. Love this place and look forward to returning. A complete surprise! Thank you Village Grille!

The first thing that turned me off was how our waitress had absolutely no wine presentation skills. Wine knowledge is one thing, which some people are keen than others, no biggie to me. But for the nice wine list that they were offering, and for the $70 i paid for one, I would expect a restaurant, thats been open since 1988, to have their waiters know how to serve wine. Once i ordered, it was awkwardly opened, and then she immediately poured my wife first, a full glass.....then me, a full glass....lol. Seriously? So i cant even taste the wine first? Cmon guys...this is wine presentation 101. It made them look really unprofessional. Impressively, the whole menu was memorized and recited from the waitress. Food was mediocre to pretty good, my steak was cooked perfectly, and was the highlight of my evening. Their entree's are mainly meats that are presented on a cart to the table. I think there were only 3 choices for people who didnt eat meat. salads were fresh but couldve been served colder. and appetizers were med to large portion sizes. Shrimp apt was pretty good, the fried artichoke hearts not so much; too much sauce on the plate took over the flavor and kinda drowned them. The decor inside was perfect for a couple. Very dark, romantic, small dining room, and a single spot light over each table. Very nice.

We do not come here often, but each time we do it is a great experience and excellent meal. The steaks are consistently top rate! Our table of eight very much enjoyed various appetizers, salads and entrees, and the snow bears for dessert are always a treat. Our waiter was warm, responsive and very knowledgeable.

Super cool place. My waiter must have been new, but one of the Senior waiters nearby really knows how to sell it. There's no menu, so the waiters review the apps, salads , entrees and desserts - taking time between each course so that you never feel rushed and can enjoy each course. The food was great, but this place is all about the experience and being transported back in time to an elegant dinner club. P. S. The photo of the restaurant on Yelp is not accurate. Don't let this sway your decision. It's a super cool place. Highly recommend for a great date night.

I really like the atmosphere at this place, the appetizers are excellent, the main courses is decent, but when they hit you with the bill I question all of that. Typical Shreveport to overcharge you for what you get in an attempt to make you feel like it's something special. For the cost of a meal at the Village you could gas up the car drive to Dallas or New Orleans and get better food in a cooler place and have money left over. I got the quail appetizer last night, 1 quail, and it was good but it left me thinking the quail special a Franks has 2 quail, tasted better and cost less. I'd go here more often, and I'd pay these prices if I left feeling like it was worth it.

What a pleasant surprise!!! Intimate atmosphere, fun cocktails, and AMAZING food...this one has it all!! Phillip was amazing. He recited the selections for each course with detail and precision. We started with fried artichoke hearts, crab balls, and shrimp Lafayette...all spectacular! The ladies had the red snapper for our entrée, which was perfectly cooked in a delicious orange saffron sauce with lump crab meat. The men had the new York strip and filet, both cooked to a perfect juicy medium rare. We finished off with the most delicious layered chocolate truffle desert shared by the table (we only had room left for a few bites each) and a chocolaty adult shake! Can't wait to go back again!!!

Like many Shreveport restaurants, the decor of this one seems to be trapped in a different decade--the 80's to be specific. But despite the wall-length mirrors and black and white decor out of "Scarface," this place served up one of the best filets I've ever had. Appetizers lean a bit too much toward the fried, but the portions are well-sized and service quite good.

My fiance and I went here for our anniversary dinner, we loved the atmosphere and he said the margarita was the best he ever had and I said the same about my virgin daiquiri. The asparagus appetizer was delicious as well. However my steak left a lot to be desired, it wasn't anything spectacular especially for $40. It's outrageously overpriced and quite honestly not worth the money.

The food was excellent, as was the service. The lettuce in my salad could have been a bit fresher, but overall it was quite good. The atmosphere is lovely, but quite small. If there are many people drinking from the nice selections of wine and spirits, it can get pretty noisy.
