The best Mexican food I've had in Shreveport. I have never heard of this place; I found it this evening by chance on Yelp. From the outside it was very generic and unassuming, but it was packed with customers on a Monday night. The parking lot was full, and upon entering, the dining room was as well. After getting my take-out order home and digging in I saw why. It was absolutely amazing! I had the Queso Asado Billy. The steak was tender and full of flavor, honestly the best fajita steak I've had in years. The peppers were fresh, yet smokey from grilling and added the perfect amount of spice and flavor. The chorizo was perfect, and the melted cheese was outstanding as well. And on top of that, the free chips and salsa were awesome. The portion was huge. Maybe the best $14 I've spent in Shreveport.

Slow service, had the Taco Salad with Fijita Chicken and the shell was not freash. The place wasn't overly packed so I'm not sure why the slow service. Food was good so don't let this detour you from trying them.

I wish someone could explain to me why this place is lauded as the best Mexican food around. The chips are tasteless, and most of the dishes I've had are tasteless as well. This is never my first choice for Mexican, but I go because my best friends love the place. I went yesterday and had brisket tacos, the one thing I can count on that will have flavor and not be too heavy. Well, now they've screwed that up as well. I've never had brisket that was so greasy that it left the tortillas soggy. And hard. I didn't know that was even possible, but the tortillas were barely able to be cut with a fork they were so tough, but yet, they were swimming in grease. The meat was also tasteless, and the rice seemed funny. Beans were so salty I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. The green salsas were good, but they're always great. That's the one constant I can say is awesome. Other than that, why?? The staff seems irritated all the time, and the food is less than mediocre.

My friends and I have been coming to Taco Mania for at least 10 years, and it's one of the best Shreveport traditions. We did prom there, and now we meet there for reunions! I also always seem to have a Taco Mania matchbook on hand. Taco Mania has a great salsa bar with about 5 varieties of salsa - my favorite is the guacamole salsa - and each table gets free, bottomless chips. Once you've filled up on free chips, there's still a big menu of entrees to choose from. No matter what entree you get, the rice on the side tastes AMAZING. The entrees taste way better than anything you'll get at a chain restaurant, especially if you're tired of bland Midwestern food. I usually change up my entrees, and I was super happy with the pork tamales last night. Finally, Taco Mania now has a bar in a back room, so I can't wait to try it out next time I am back in Shreveport!

Loved this place! Some of the best mexican food in town. The chips and salsa were great, and the fajitas were awesome! My son gets nachos everywhere we go and he especially loved the nachos here. The environment is loud and busy but friendly and warm.

Don't like the food, got chicken enchilladas verdes, worst enchilladas i've ever had... not good at all ANDthe margaritas tastes like lime kool-aid jammers that barely had a hint of tequila!

Terrible service!! We came in with a group of 5 adults and three children. We waited over 20 minutes just to get drinks! Then after the drinks were dropped off the waitress ran off before we could even order for the young hungry children. I went to the hostess stand to see if she could find our server and there was no one there. We waited another 15 minutes before I finally grabbed another server and ordered for the children. Still no waitress! When the kids food came we asked where our waitress was we were told "she's too busy to come over"!!! Are you kidding me, the place was empty! We told him that of she was too busy we would leave and he said ok!! He didn't even try to go get her or help us himself. On the way out I asked for the manager and he couldn't have cared less about the whole thing! This was our first and last trip there and I don't suggest you go either, after telling a few people about our experience I found out that bad service is common. Save your time and go somewhere else!

I came here with my Dad and really tried to like the food after reading some of the reviews. Yuck! The chips were dyed green/red and I'm totally not into the dying of the foods but whatever. Let's talk salsa. What was that stuff? Spice H20 for Men? It was really watery and gross. My boyfriend and I split the fajitas which came out sizzling but certainly lacked any sizzle in our mouths. The positives were that I got a huge beer for $3 which totally saved the day. Food generally tastes better with a little beer/marg in your system. If it helps, my Dad seemed to like what he got but I don't remember what it was. There's got to be a better Mexican restaurant than this!

First timer here. Our waiter, Ivan, was inattentive and seemed annoyed to serve us. It couldnt have been a language barrier because both of us are bilingual. My cousin ordered nopales and got chorizo instead. I asked for black beans instead of black bean soup and got refried beans with my order. I asked for napkins and waited several minutes. The waiter walked by and asked me if I was needing something. I told him "Yes, the napkins I asked you for." He went to get them and semi-tossed them on the table. To top it off, I get home and find that they double charged my card. Once for my actual meal and another charge for 88.70!!!!!!! I had to go back to the restaurant with Chase Bank on the phone (they were awesome) and explain what was going on. Happily for them (sarcasm), they knew about it but didnt bother to let me know- keep in mind that the erroneous charge was made before the correct one. Maria the owner sure was sorry. I did find it strange that no other gesture of compensation was offered. This is quite standard in the hospitality industry and not an unreasonable expectation when you ruin someone's evening.

Everyone that eats here should try the burrito loco. It is amazing. But, that's not the best thing about Tacomania. The best thing about Tacomania is the awesome art, especially the chimp on a toilet eating a banana poster outside of the restrooms.

Grabbed some take out from the Taco mania and let me just say walking into the place I was extremely excited! It smells heavenly in there! Some back story, I moved to Shreveport from Texas about 4 months ago, and have been on the hunt for serviceable Mexican food ever since. I got the vegetarian tacos al carbon to go. I have to say that even though the food is to go you still get chips and salsa, which was a big plus. On the other hand when I got home and dipped into the salsa, at first I was intrigued, but the more of it I ate, the more it tasted like it belonged more on some pasta than on chips :(. So, I skipped the rest of that and popped open my to go box lid for the main course. The tacos where the saddest looking little tacos al carbon I have ever laid my eyes on. I'm used to two or three long soft tacos, pressed and grilled on both sides filled with deliciousness. These tacos were short, squat, and not grilled AT ALL. The re-fried beans were very uninspired without even a sprinkle of melted cheese to try and spruce them up, and the rice while interesting in flavor, left me wanting other flavors. So, the hunt continues. This isn't the worst mexican meal I've had in shreveport/ bossier, in fact with a few quick fixes, like actually grilling the taco al carbon, it could have been a great meal (sala aside) I will say that the bar in the back of the establishment looked great, and I'll definitely be back to try it out!

Look, I really do like this place. I haven't really had many bad meals here, but today ends that streak. I went for lunch, and feeling rather flush in my pockets, i decided to dig deep and order one of the more expensive items off of the lunch menu. You see, one of the things I like about this place, is the large and diverse menu, even at lunchtime. So, I tend to divert from the ol' standbys of tacos, burritos or fajitas. On this visit, I ordered the number 24, which is the Sizzling Golfo, which is 20 shrimp served on what is supposed to be served on a sizzling skillet with grilled onions n such with a side of rice, black bean soup, n flour tortillas...Sounds delicious, right? Well worth the menu price of $10.45, which is what I was thinking. Only that when my meal arrived at the table, it wasn't sizzling...Hmm? That's weird? Okay, maybe it'll still taste good, but oh wait, the shrimp aren't de-veined (which means they haven't been scraped and cleaned, which means they are full of poop!), okay, I'm still rolling with it, I bite into the first shrimp...and it tastes really fishy! Blech. I bite into another...the same. Another. Same. For me, great seafood dishes don't taste fishy! I ultimately filled up on chips, salsa, the tiniest serving of black beans n rice ever served to man, and tortillas. Had I not been here before, my rating would be lower, history, for me saves this place from any further dings on their rating. This lunch was a monumental disappointment.

This is a great place for Mexican food. It has all of your tex-mex favorites, but also a large variety of authentic food. The beer is cold, the margarita's are good and the wait staff is friendly. They have a large taco menu too ranging from cactus and eggs to chili relleno tacos. If I could eat at only Mexican place over and over again, this would be it.

It's not that the food wasn't good, but it did not live up to our expectations. They hype over this place was phenomenal, but the food wasn't. For as much as everyone RAVED over the chips and salsa I was VERY excited to try them. I loved how light and crispy the chips were, but hubby and I agreed that the salsa had NO flavor. It was like eating chunky, spicy water with a hint of cilantro every 10 bites. I ordered the Chimichanga with rice. The guacamole sauce was really good, but it was drowned out by the spiciness of the ground beef. My favorite part of the whole meal was the rice. My husband hated it, but I thought it was DELICIOUS! White rice with chilies, corn, and peas. YUM! I wanted to try his beans, but he gobbled them up before I could even ask. Haha, they must've been good! ;) Hubby had the puffy taco which he was "impressed" with, I guess. He said that it was interesting and good. Haha. He also had a beef burrito that he didn't like. He didn't like the red sauce and said it was more of an enchilada than a burrito. We'd like to go back once more to try out some more recommendations, but as of now, this place won't be a regular for us.

Tacomania is my all-time favorite place in the world. Seafood chimichanga? To die for. Authentic tacos? Check. Fabulous margaritas and cold beer? Yep, got that too. Prices are super reasonable, and the waitstaff is unbelievably friendly. The salsa is delicious, and you get multi-colored chips. Their tortilla soup rocks my world - it comes with sliced avocado on top! Now tell me, who doesn't want that.

I am an Arizona native who was introduced to Taco Mania by my grandfather who lives in Bossier City. Hands down best mexican food i've had since wandering the streets of guadalupe. The guacamole is extremely fresh and hefty and compliments the house chips and salsa just perfect. The carne asada was spicy and tender and my wife's pollo was just danky. We went during lunch and although it was packed we were seated and served quickly. The owner, Salvador, is the man and deserves an award for bringing such great mexican food to the deep south.

It was ok...nothing spectacular. Salsa was bland, might be better if they heated it up. I had the bistec con pappas, and it was drenched in sauce, but no flavor. My boyfriend had carnitas...his had no sauce, no flavor. The queso was good though.

Favorite restaurant in the universe. I've eaten there literally hundreds of times. This is 100% authentic Mexican cuisine, and there's no beating it. And I live in Los Angeles now, and still, NOTHING compares to Tacomania. It is literally half of the reason I come home for Christmas.

About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Best tortilla soup ever! I moved out of Shreveport and haven't been able to find a comparable soup since...
