Best place for live music on Friday nights...see Lions May Cry! Best margaritas in town and the absolute best chili releno EVER, get fajita beef with it!!! Can be very crowded at all times and you can forget a patio table on Friday and Saturday unless you get there around 4:30!! Great place for groups and the staff is second to none!!

Sigh. I moved away and I miss Superior so much! It is THE place to go for Happy Hour. Yummy margs! And THE all-time best queso I have EVER had!! I dream of this stuff!! I have yet to find anything even near as good in Dallas. It comes in a little skillet, all bubbly. Mmm. Not any processed Velveeta crap here! The cheese is sorta clumpy, but SO good. Seriously, a big girl don't lie!!

The food is good but I think most people go there to hang out and drink their magaritas. There good, but watch out they will have you leaning.

Good food, great service. The best Margaritas anywhere. Highly recommend the Fajitas.

Superior is that kind of place place "to see and be seen" or however the expression goes. You're bound to run into at least one person you know, especially if you grew up here. It's a choice spot for food, margaritas, and happy hour. I don't remember, but I feel like the margaritas are more potent than before. That, or I've gotten weak with age. Food is just as good and plentiful. The taco salad dish is huge and can be shared, depending on how hungry you are. Don't fill up on the chips and salsa. Those will get you every time because the salsa is damn addicting. It's crowded almost every day of the week; just check out the wait and the noise level coming from inside.

If your mom has her food review still hanging on the wall here, it has got to be good. Superior since 1984ish. No Mexican restaurant in the area can top its freshness and service, so heck they can charge you a lot of $$$. They deserve it, enough said in the price department. The chips, salsa, guaco, blue corn enchiladas, and all the trimmings are tasty. You won't need a fire extinguisher to eat here, but you will need the happy hour of margaritas to give you the kick of a lifetime. No princess parking which sucks, and you could be in the "back 40" (so leave the Jimmy Choo's at home as the lot is not asphalt, but hey, for the guys, I hear there are a lot of cheap frills in the men's bathroom. I just want to ask will the the real Southern women stand up over the Orange County housewife wanna be's.

I write a review on this restaurant for one reason... The SALSA! I think it's the best salsa ever. I mean you gotta try this salsa, it's so good! Yes, it's tomatoey, but it has just enough heat and garlic and cilantro. Its really freakin good salsa! The food is usually pretty good, too! The place is noisy as hell on busy nights and if you like to see drunk people, this is the place to go. I've been told that when there is a wait for a table a $20 bill slipped to the captain can make the wait considerably shorter. I haven't tried that, YET!!

I love going to Superior Grill! The food is great, the atomosphere is great and the Margaritas are AMAZING!!! Yum... now I want some queso dip (the best)!

HaHa. I love the review below, that mentions alcoholic beverages "to go" Gotta love Lousiana! So, if you are in the Port, be sure to drop in. Granted, the food is good but not where to go if you are in a "food critic" mood. It's a great place to get started, you will always have a good time. fajitas and a rita!

Superior is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The food is wonderful. Anything that has their steak in it is a winner. My favorite is the fish tacos because I'm not a "bean" person and they are fabulous and come with tortilla soup and rice. But, seriously, most folks go there for the margaritas. I'm a pomegranate margarita fan myself. It's loud, crouded, and pretty much amazing. Just take it easy, the drinks hit you hard. Go at happy hour if you are going to drink. The last time I was there a lady had to be slid out of the restaurant in her chair by a police officer because she had passed out and couldn't stand. Good times.

I went to Superior last weekend with my cousin... first time I'd been there since I was a kid! It was extremely busy and raucous... and on a long wait. So we just ended up eating at the bar. Getting my margarita in a styrofoam cup was a bit disconcerting... but it wasn't bad! Chips and salsa were fantastic. I got the crawfish enchiladas for my meal... they were yummy and the portion sizes were huge. The rice was actually my fav thing on my plate, oddly enough LOL. It just had great flavor. My cousin got the shrimp fajitas... and they were just incredible. Giant chargrilled butterflied shrimp... pure perfection. All things totaled, I was quite surprised with Superior. For such a noisy football-watching hookup-bar type vibe, the place has darned good food! I was a bit taken aback by the price of my margarita ($14!!), but that's my only complaint.

Excellent fajitas and service was outstanding. Gets crowded around 7 on weekends

I used to live in Fort Worth home to one of the greatest all time Mexican places, Joe T. Garcia's of course. This place is on par with Joe T's in terms of atmosphere, but the food is just shockingly good. The margaritas as the only ones I have ever had that are better than Joe T's. Its the kind of place you can see a crazy bride to be getting hammered at her bride's maid party and at the next table over see the dad with his family. If you could choose one place to eat in Shreveport this is no doubt it!

  • Neto M.

It's a cool happening place but the people there are so many pretentious, fake and snobby folks. I always say they are ripping off white people with their prices. $13 for nachos??? I also dont see the big deal in frozen margaritas. Their mexican beer selection is good though. The food is pretty good just way overpriced. Its way too loud and oh so crowded by people that over hype this place. The reason it's "so fun" is because everyone is hammered by 5:30pm. The bands are predictable. How many times do I have to hear Brown Eyed Girl especially when everyone sings along. I do like the guy at the window cutting the meats, he checks out ALL the chicks. Straight P-I-M-P ! ! ! Parking way overcrowded. It's a cool place to kick it once you get a spot, but until then, prepare yourself to make your way through that jungle.

I am always a fan of this place, no matter how expensive they are, no matter how long the wait...it's a see and be seen type of place with live music on the weekends. It is a huge place, so they typically get you in pretty quick and they do take reservations. This is definitely a local hit and has been for several years. I have had the carne asada, which is prepared perfectly to a nice medium and served up with warm garlic butter. I also really enjoy the beef fajita nachos. There is always plenty to share. The chicken tenders which aren't on the menu are fantastic. I know it sounds weird to order chicken at a Mexican place, but they are cooked really well and surprisingly one of their best kept secrets. Superior has creamy, over the top queso blanco with spinach. It's by far one of the best I have had. They salsa has a medium consistency...not to chunky and not too runny. I think this is perfect for most people. It's not overly spicy but it doesn't taste like ketchup. You can tell it is freshly prepared. I could probably eat a gallon of it. Warning: the margaritas are ridiculously strong :P They might not taste it because they are smooth, but they will knock you down if you have a couple. Make sure you move around if you feel like you are a light weight or if you have never had one. :)

wow! who knew that not just decent, but great tex-mex was being served up in Shreveport?! we went here on a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad I tried it! I was about to lose all hope in Louisiana's ability to create tex-mex, until tonite! hallelujah & praise the lord! the fajitas are fantastic! my second favorite I've ever had. the cheese enchilada was super tasty as well! after going though all of the photos on yelp, I HAD to ask for the house made verde salsa , one of my weaknesses and one main criteria I judge a texmex restaurant on. it was HOT and perfect in every way! I asked for a to go container and a bag of chips to take the left overs back to my hotel. listen, I don't have to go on. just go there. it's good. you won't be disappointed. I've eaten everywhere Texas and all throughout Louisiana and this is good eatin. Don't pass it up.

Coming of age in Shreveport, you could hardly call yourself an adult without saying you'd been floored once by one of Superior's incredibly strong Everclear margaritas (OK, is it really Everclear or is that just rumor? Kerosene maybe??). Been there, done that. About 20 years ago. Other than that, I honestly do not understand the hype, especially now that the patio is enclosed. Listening to music on the outdoor patio used to be pretty cool when there was a good band, although it's usually very crowded. The hype on the food I really don't get. I have never been able to eat anything with meat here, chicken or beef. I get violently ill. Have talked to a couple others with the same affliction. Don't know if it's seasoning or their grill. On the rare occasion I am forced to eat here (meeting or such), I stick to chips and salsa, and flour tortillas. I have been to the Baton Rouge location, but am too afraid to try anything with meat. The cheese enchiladas are OK.

Good Food. Bad Server! Had my birthday lunch here today. Sat for 30 minutes without having anything except bread. No explanation offered. Server forgot our appetizer so just brought it with entree. No explanation! Asked for condiments, catsup, tarter sauce. Waited 10 minutes. Server forgot that too. Seemed quite preoccupied. Never offered anything for our delays. Expect much better from such a fine establishment. Hubby informed hostess we were celebrating birthday. Nothing was ever said or offered to celebrate it. Very disappointing dining experience. Probably won't return for a while.

So.. it was my first time there so I am sure I will be updating this review periodically.. Pretty good Tex-Mex place! As a native from Detroit, Michigan, Southwest Detroit a.k.a. Mexican Town, is known to have some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine. With that aside (because I am definitely not a novice when it comes to Mexican food) I am comfortable with rating this place three stars on cleanliness, DRINKS, and service. Two stars deducted for the bland food.. Zach was absolutely amazing! Very attentive and had an awesome sense of humor and personality. When the hubs and I arrived on Saturday around lunch time this place was slammed. They were only on ticket 25 and we were number 30. We opted to sit in their enclosed patio area. Very inviting. PACKED but clean. One star I had the fish tacos which was kind of bland. Even the sauce did not help. I had to add the side of guacamole and salsa to my meal for some flavor. No jalapenos, or spicy peppers anywhere in sight. The rice was typical and the tomato based soup it came with was flavorful but basic. I forget the meal the hubs had but he said he enjoyed it. Minus two stars As far as the margarita.. WOOOOOHOOOOO!! I couldn't even finish half and I had a slight buzz. *bleep* that thing was good and worth every penny. I am not a light weight it is almost knocked me on my **bleep** when I stood up :). Add a star! We will be back. It is so far the best place and environment for Tex-Mex than the other place we went to (see review) previously for Mexican Food especially for Louisiana, but it is definitely not the best I have ever had. The food is pretty bland and standard but definitely edible. -A girl from the big city

My second time being here, probably will be my last. They can't remember orders/get orders right to save their life. The waitress I had definitely didn't take pride in her job.

Good food with superb service! Have yet to find a Shreveport tex-mex place with better food. Had the taco truck pork carnitas. Cooked to perfection, great flavor and the customer service was top notch!

I've been here a number of times and it's one of the better tex-mex restaurants in the area. People in Shreveport can't get enough of this place... I don't know if that speaks for the quality of food or lack of things to do in Shreveport... +Service is fast +Chips and salsa are addicting... -Always packed (but that's good... Right?)

Best grilling of meats in town. The atmosphere and margaritas are unsurpassed . However, if you want to relax and not feel sick I do not suggest this place. The fajitas and meats are perfect. The salsa and queso is good but rich and salty. If you eat too much of it your stomach will be pissed. The tacos an enchiladas are above average, again -- it is a little bit rich. The service is the best in the city though. They hand you refills of their addicting chips before you can even ask. It's Definitely a Tex-Mex spot though and not authentic Mexican cuisine. The salsa is good but not special. The queso, however, is unique and strong card. Overall, Superior is unsurpassed as the popular staple in Mexican food in Just not shreveport, but of all Louisiana. It's vibe and energy is magnetic. The food is full of life and rich; But sometimes it's just too much.

So, I had takeout from superior grill. I ordered the brisket tacos and the chicken and spinach quesadillas. They told me 10-20 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 30 min later and they told me that things were backed up. I waited another 20-30 min and finally got my food. Honestly, the food was okay, but I Def wouldn't order either dish again. Just wasn't good enough for the money or calorie usage. I've been to this restaurant a couple of times. I like the vibe; I like that it's very busy; but that Def makes it a much better place to eat in than for takeout. I will prob try to make sure that my visits are for dine in experiences In the future only. Brisket tacos were okay. Chicken quesidilla okay. Def nothing that really excited the taste buds, but I have had some pretty good fajitas here in the past. Pomegranate Margarita is good but expensive. Take home message-dine in here.

This is a one of the best Mex restaurants in the area and the quality of steak is by far head and shoulders above any Mex place I have eaten. This is largely due to the shared ownership with Superior Steakhouse and access to quality suppliers. That said, you are also dropping $28 for fajitas, while others will charge about $10 less. A Guac bowl runs about $17, another ripoff; especially when it seems to have been cut with eggs and not pure guac. The big drawback here is service and kitchen. Food takes forever to arrive and servers work at turtle speed. Which makes the suggested tip guidelines printed on a the receipt @ 20%. 22% and 25% calculated on TOTAL bill (inc tax) even more comical. Love the food, hate the service.

Why all the hype? I'll tell you why. It's a regional version of the PF Chang's (or Starbuck's) hoopla. Hardly deserved, but damn! Lots of people have jumped on the bandwagon! I've been hearing about Superior Grill in Shreveport for years. It opened in Shreveport back in the 1980s. Other locations were later opened in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Birmingham (Alabama). -- Before I go any further, I want to pose this question: Since when is Louisiana or Alabama known for Tex-Mex or Mexican food? Seriously, folks. The Atmosphere The place is relatively clean and nicely adorned with themed signage and wall murals. The chairs are vinyl mesh and sort of feel like the ones on your grandma's patio. Superior Grill is loud for the simple reason that people will crawl naked over broken glass to spend their money here. (So, expect a wait.) I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm usually pretty good about finding the front door of a large restaurant. Thus is next to impossible at this Superior Grill location. There are a couple of side doors labeled "bar" as well as steps down into a darkened entry corridor. And that's it. Well, there apparently is a front door, so long as you don't mind a 5-mile hike from the parking lot down Line Ave. If you enter the "bar" door, be prepared to ask questions of the (3-4) staff members who are usually standing around right there (most waiting for orders from the kitchen). Then, be prepared for them to look at you like you have three heads when you ask "Do we seat ourselves?" Apparently, you're supposed to know this stuff. Our bad. For other first timers, here's the skinny: Just go sit down if you can find a table. If there's a line, and there usually is, good luck getting on a waiting list. The Food We realized after a few bites that the drinks are the real reason people come to this place. More on the drinks in a moment. If you've read my reviews, you know that a Tex-Mex joint in my opinion lives and dies by its house salsa. While there was nary a gram of cumin (a cardinal sin) in Superior Grill's version, there wasn't much of anything else either. It tasted like tomato sauce, despite that I saw little green flecks of what appeared to be cilantro. A little salt was helpful, but meh.. The house queso with spinach isn't bad, but it has the consistency of buttermilk, so bring extra napkins and some Shout stain wipes. Funny thing about the queso... My wife ordered it and the server asked "Do you want the classic style or the new style?" Apparently the new style is the watered down version that gets everywhere when you try to dip a chip in it (it's what we chose). To the entrees... My wife ordered shrimp tacos and I'll just be blunt: major disappointment. Yes, the tortilla was fine; the vegetables were fresh and the shrimp ... grittier than John Wayne toilet paper. After one bite, I was thinking that someone screwed up and used the shrimp that was originally destined for the bait or cat food factory. No exaggeration. It was garbage. On the bright side, a spicy soup that accompanied her order was pretty darn good. Nice chicken and a spicy creamy broth. I ordered the Rio Grande plate, a variety -- beef enchiladas, taco, tamale, rice and beans. I'll first say that the ingredients were true to the restaurant's claims in that they seemed fresh. The portion was fine too. My problem is that the 'sauce' served over the enchiladas was merely canned tomatoes that had been heated, then topped with cheese. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with this, but I've seen better efforts at Mexican restaurants in New Jersey. I would've resorted to the house salsa as a condiment for these otherwise bland little flutes of wrapped ground beef, but... Anyway, the tamale was fine. Rice was actually some of the better Mexican rice that I've eaten -- nicely firm. Refried beans were very well cooked too. Believe it or not, the very best entree came on a child's plate for our 7-year-old. A cheeseburger and fries. I didn't taste the fries (they looked decent), but the burger was delicious. Nice char and flavorful meat. Perhaps they added some A-1 to the mixture? I was impressed. Finally, the drinks.. I acquiesced and ordered a margarita (I'm usually a beer or Scotch guy). It tasted just like ... a margarita. It did seem to have a little more tequila than the average on-the-rocks concoction, but still... I had a couple of bottled beers and they were served very cold. Nice. Bottom line: The quality, aside from the shrimp, was fine. The taste? Bland. The drinks? No better or worse than any other place, except for the temperature and strength. I will not make the hour-long drive from Longview to eat at Superior Grill on an average night. If you're considering making the trip, just ask yourself: Why would I go to Shreveport for Tex-Mex when I'd never consider San Antonio for Cajun food?

    (2)
  • Doug L.

Yes the margaritas are strong and there are Cougars everywhere. But this place is overhyped and not worth the fuss. The last time we were here a huge beetle walked out of my wife's salad and the waiter couldn't care less. The time before that there was a long hair in my enchilada.

Is one of, if not the top nightlife places in all of Shreveport/Bossier. What I like: Has great live music with a fun young crowd party atmosphere. The food is pretty good but I don't typically come here for the food. If you want a great spot to come, drink awesome margaritas, and have a fun night out with friends this is your spot. What I don't like: It is always super packed (but what does that tell you?)!! We put in for a group of 10 last night on a Friday night and it took 2 hours to finally be told that our table was ready but we ended up getting trashed at the bar and ordered food there (which is cool that you can do that) and never sat at our table. Also this place is super expensive. Like $16+ for the large margaritas plus entrées are $25+. The fajitas are phenom though. Also, they do not make reservations over the phone. Overall, this place is unique in its own right and you cannot find anything like it around. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun night of drinking with friends.

  • Alex H.

The food here is good. Not great, but good. It's also a bit on the pricier side. This is the fanciest Mexican place I've ever been to, and surely the fanciest in Shreveport. The service is so-so here, and it's usually packed on Fridays and Saturdays. They do, however, have the best margarita in town.

    (4)
  • Victoria K.

Very tasty food, however it was fairly pricey. For two fish tacos and a coke it was $18.00. The service was quick, but i only got one refill, but they were very nice to my group. We're here on business and it was highly recommended. Glad we went, bummed it was so expensive for a lunch. My friend ordered the burger, And it was huge, as well as being freshly made.

  • Ingo S.

What a joke. Totally overpriced. The kicker was the snotty attitude by the 'barkeeper' Andrew C. Learn some manners if you want To pretend to be a 'professional' telling a out of towner 'the beer selection is up there' does not cut it.

  • Lena M.

The queso is to die for! I get it evey, single, time, it's a must! (also with everything else on their menu!)

    (4)
  • Mama M.

Hugely popular & busy, especially on weekends, but it never disappoints. It's loud & fun (live band) and the food is so much better than any other tex-mex. Fajitas are superb, as are the margaritas.

This Mexican grille restaurant & bar is great! I was so excited when I found this place while visiting my boyfriend! I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food and must say they are delicious! Expect a little wait time before being seated (they are almost always packed) but it is WORTH EVERY MINUTE! The salsa was also one of the better tasting I have had while out in Shreveport! Any who if you live here or visiting and have a taste for some Mexican food come here! You will not be disappointed!

This place is so good, I'm shocked that it's in Shreveport. The first time I drove past the restaurant, I couldn't help but think about Pappasito's decor and signage. As I went inside, that meant that the bar was set incredibly high. (Pappasito's is likely my favorite Tex-Mex place.) This joint didn't disappoint. My wife and I visited (on 3 different occasions), and every time we visit Shreveport, we make it a point to eat here. Judging by the fact that we usually have to wait to get in, it seems like every other person in Shreveport ends up doing the exact same. In each case, we got the queso (which is extraordinarily unusual, but quite delicious), followed by the chicken fajitas. In each visit, our food experience was fantastic (though parking has a tendency to stink and so does wait times. Also, it's not very cheap. (Though, their prices aren't unheard of... they're certainly on par with Superior's seemingly long lost cousins--Uncle Julio's and Pappasito's. It's a great place to go when in Shreveport. However, if you are trying to get here by a particular time, traffic may become an issue.

Chips and salsa are good, along with the white queso. Margarita was fine, I asked for a double in s larger glass and I got their styrofoam cup with straight tequila. The bartender mistook my intention which was to just get a little bit larger drink and he even topped it off. I asked him to add more margarita mix and he did and re-mixed it well. Clearly they don't mind over-pouring here! I had the Juarez (mixed steak and chicken) fajitas. They cone with rice and soup before. No utensils ir napkin were provided so I had to ask but it came quickly. The fajita meat is cut into such large pieces I had to cut them down myself, however the flavor is good. Overall, the place has a energetic atmosphere but a little too Key West-ish for my taste (frozen margarita machines, t-shirts, styrofoam cups, etc). Also, it is a Thursday night and feels like a Friday or Saturday here. If your looking for string drinks, festive atmosphere and average food it's fine but not a good value: $85 (includes tip, queso, 2 Patron margaritas of which the 2nd was barely drinkable and the Juarez fajitas). You're better off at Chili's.

Had heard about the iconic Superior Grill in Shreveport so we decided to give it a try since we were all up for a late night dinner. The service was good but not great...the waiter knew his menu and steered a friend away from brisket tacos to pulled pork tacos, I had crawfish enchiladas...they were good but so covered with cheese that I could hardly taste the fish. This is a dive bar atmosphere and could use some updating. At the end of the night they were preparing to close, they propped the kitchen door open and a horrible odor began to fill the place. We were happy to be on our way at that point. Expect to pay $5 for a beer and the entrees all ran in the $15 range. Overall...it was an average restaurant experience...will try someplace new the next time I'm in town.

I haven't eaten at Superior in a while and it's the first time at the Shreveport location, but this was embarrassing. The food still tasted ok, but the portions have become laughable and the prices astronomical. $29.99 for eight prices of steak, with bone dry onions and green peppers? Co worker got the veggie fajitas and the portions used to be so big I'd make two meals out of them. I don't think he made one meal out of his. I honestly hope this is just the Shreveport location.

  • Mike Z.

From a texan's perspective, Superior Grill is Shreveport's equivalent to Pappasitos. It has the same flare and almost close quality to the dishes but what runs this place is the bar. You get to see the overflow of styrofoam cups (which becomes an ongoing theme around town) that arch over the bar counter and supply an ample margarita of your liking. Chips and dip are decent. Nachos are on point. At this point you're too full and buzzed to finish your combo plate. The tortillas are hot and pressed. Beans are typical. Meat is flavored and seasoned. Not much to complain about but it seems to be the weekend dinner spot in town. I'd come back.

We were in the mood for tex-mex and thought we'd try this place out. We parked in the lot on the side of the restaurant and couldn't figure out which door to go in. One door said "Bar". We didn't want a bar. The other door looked like a side door. It was confusing. We went in the bar entrance anyway and I asked the guy walking by if we were in the right place. He said we were and pointed to another doorway to the restaurant. There was an entrance door here- facing the street and not the lot. In any case, no one greeted us aside from the hostess and there were a lot of servers standing around. I felt like I had intruded into a private conversation. I was blown away by how expensive everything was! For MEXICAN food? So weird!!! My food was good. The chips and salsa were plentiful and tasty. I enjoyed the rice very much. My husband ordered the Puffy Tacos. Shreveport needs to get together with San Antonio and decide what a puffy taco is, because they have conflicting ideas. In San Antonio a puffy taco is ... Well ... A puffy, soft taco. Here it was like a tostada. My husband didn't like it and was very jealous of my food. We were already living high on the hog with these prices so decided to live a bit more and order sopapillas. The waiter informed us that one order wasn't enough for the four of us. I can't remember how much one order was, but I remember being stunned. We passed on the dessert. Weird but - I liked the bathrooms. The stalls go down to the floor and afford more privacy. I wish more places had bathrooms like that. Anyway. We probably wouldn't come back on our own. If someone wanted to meet there, we would go. And if I had the sudden urge to do a number 2 in public I'd GO too. ;p

I've loved this place for years, and whenever I visit East Texas, I try to make it across the Red River to have the margaritas at Superior. I'll talk about the food and experience in a minute, but allow me a moment to discuss the amazingness that is a Superior Margarita. I get them tall and frozen (this is basically the only place that I get frozen), and one of those is enough to get you laughing louder than you normally would. You get your second and your face gets a bit numb. Three and you might make out with someone you just met on a busy sidewalk... not that I would know... We went for my mom's birthday this time, so I was on good behavior. We got a round and ordered some queso. The queso blanco is sooooo good. The heat sneaks up on you, and we finished the whole thing. I had blue corn stacked enchiladas like I always do. I need to branch out on the menu, but they're so good! Why switch? The service is always good, but I'm pretty sure that Shavanety was the best server I've ever had. Ever. Quick and polite, and her timing was nothing short of perfection. Things zoomed on and off the table, and she was fun but let us enjoy our meal. Exceptional. There will be a wait. Get a margarita and deal with it.

Second time around. Lively spot to eat dinner. Plus great food. I had the San Lucas which is fajita meat and grill shrimp. It was delicious. Try the pechuga salsa with it. I think that's what it called anyways it was awesome...

I'm new to Shreveport so I didn't know how packed this place gets on the weekend. If you want to eat here on the weekend without waiting 45 minutes to sit down you have to arrive before 5pm. We came the next day for lunch and were seated right away. The ambiance is great. The service was great. My only druthers were the portion and price. My wife and I shared the chicken fajitas. At most restaurants this is usually a dish you can share, not here. For $25 dollars I would expect more food. I will say the food quality was excellent and they were some of the best fajitas I've ever had. I would come back to take friends and family but we'll be looking for a cheaper option for our regular Mexican cravings.

Jen's Birthday! This was her request. As always, this place is awesome. I didn't drink a famed margarita as I was the DD for the evening. This was missed. Our waitress was by far, one of the best any of us had experienced. This girl was on top of the game. Perfect timing. The food was great! I can now say that since I didn't drink. Up till now I couldn't tell you what the food tasted like. If in S'port, you gotta stop here. Expect a wait. It's worth it.

Let's start with the service: It's about the only thing that saves them from a"1 or 2". The service was excellent! I made reservations 3 weeks in advance for a surprise birthday party for my mother. 8-12 people on the patio at 2:00 on a Sunday. I followed up on the Thursday before to confirm. All on green, we go. My mother is totally surprised! They played right along with our ruse, right up to the very end of all the sneakiness and trickery! Thank you, Superior! Now, on to the food: The food was really good! I love fish tacos! Every time I try a new Mexican restaurant, I have to try the fish tacos. But.....I've had better. At more reasonable prices (I'll get to that in a minute). Keep in mind, I love love LOVE Mexican food! It was good! But I've had just as good or better much cheaper! The problem here is that the fish tacos that I ordered (at 2 for $12.95) were served in a plastic Dairy Queen basket! Come on, man! Then there's the prices: As if the 2 for $12.95 in a Dairy Queen basket wasn't enough, here comes the $20.00 margarita served in a styrofoam cup! The margarita was excellent (Heavy on the tequila)! But $20.00?! Again.....Great margarita, but I've had just as good for a more reasonable price. If I buy a $20.00 margarita, I'd at least like it served in something besides a styrofoam cup! In closing, here's the way I break it down: Great service, good food, less than desirable prices.

***edited because I actually thought I was reviewing a different restaurant. Acceptable Mexican restaurant with good margaritas and a very traditional gringo-friendly menu. Good, prompt service and many areas to accommodate a lot of people. A good place to catch a game.

The Margaritas are tasty and strong (and big). The food is flavorful, decent variety, and good potions. Their queso is still my favorite of anywhere I've been. Staff was usually pretty good, we became regulars and they always were friendly with us. Be prepared for a long wait on weekends though. Prices are a little higher than a Tex Mex type of place but it is still affordable. Overall I highly recommend it, a good place to bring friends too

I hoped it would be different from what other yelpers said ... But they were right.. Service was pathetic and rude when you are paying $29 for steak fajitas yes $29 you expect a little more.. The steak was good and tender but definitely not worth $29. Before we were even halfway through server dropped the check.. We wanted to all split a dessert but I guess not... Will not be back

Once again, I'm disturbed to find another restaurant in Shreveport with high ratings they don't deserve. The food was mediocre at best. Our waiter wasn't friendly in the least. Food was poorly cooked. The manager was nice and seemed to be trying hard. It became clearly evident after our chat with the manager that they're sacrificing quality for quantity - they're working so hard at turning over tables that they're letting their food suffer. At this rate, they won't be getting repeat customers and then they won't have to worry about turning over tables. Wake up before it's too late to make some changes for the better. In the end, this is another disappointment. I can't believe people really love this place.

Service here has been declining for years and the final straw for me was when I asked for a slice of lemon for my water and was charged 85¢ for the slice. When I'm paying $12 for enchiladas, I shouldn't have to pay extra for one slice of lemon, no matter what the price.

Amazing Mexican restaurant! Was only in the area for one week but ended up going there twice because once just wasn't enough. I highly recommend their quesadilla appetizer (get the combo one - smallest size is enough for two) and their fish of the day (which came with a side of Mexican rice, guacamole, and THE BEST dipping sauce I've ever had - not sure what it was, but whatever it was, it was amazing). Definitely worth a visit!

This place had a somewhat big parking lot. The interior was really colorful with Christmas lights above the bar. We waited about 15 minutes before we were seated and it was already busy for a Saturday afternoon (12:30pm). I ordered a large CJ's Brisket Quesadilla (medium was $8.50 and a large was $10.50). The chips and salsa were good because the chips weren't stale and salsa was spicy. Our food came out between 8-10 minutes. My food looked good in terms of presentation but also in taste. It was a lot but I finished it all. Our waiter had a good sense of humor and I felt that it made the restaurant's atmosphere that much better. This was a good place for birthdays as there were 3 when I was here. I recommend CJ's Brisket Quesadilla!

Over priced and not worth it. Used to be a great place but the prices have gone way too high. $30 for crappy fajitas. Go elsewhere. I've been going here since 1987 and it used to be a great place. It might be a hotspot to see some people but expect to pay.

This is probably the best mexican restaurant in the Shreveport area. The foods good here and the drinks are stout. It is always filled with kittens and cougars that are very talkative. I live in Texas but when i pass through Shreveport i always stop here for a super stout margarita and a chat with some beautiful women.

Drank 4 of the 20oz., on the rocks. Always a start to a great night!!! Best thing they serve isn't on the menu. It's a chimachanga popper. If you can convince them to make it, you will thank me.

Pretty damn good, if I should say so myself...I got the fajitas, and both meats were very tender and full of flavor. I had a side of fries, and they weren't any good at all. But the fajitas, the service, the drinks, the free chips & salsa more than made up for it. But it is a little pricey, however you get what pay and don't walk away feeling like you overpaid.

A fellow "yelper friend" Highly recommended stopping here, I am glad I had my check-in notification on what a great wingman to have on my friend list! Have the superior margarita, you will not be dissapointed, very potent drink with caution. Food was overall good. It's loud, crowded, lively, The service was fast, friendly, atmosphere overall fun "Good times" I am not sure, but I get the vibe that it's cultish like following. Must be the drinks and Blue Tube Top Chris L. was talkin bout! I would love to come back and get coyote ugly all over the bar! "Hoooooooooooowwwwllllllllllll"

Drinks are great, but pricey. As far as the food goes - I might be spoiled by living in Southern California but it was mediocre at best. The tacos were soggy, storebought shells with strange tasting chicken. I know they're not trying to be authentic Mexican, but it was far from good. Queso appetizer was just an oily lumpy strange consistency and just not enjoyable at all. My wife got beef tacos and it was just dry-ish ground beef. Cool ambiance I guess, reminded me of my favorite local spot in LA, but the food was just not good at all. The drinks were great but expensive (10 bucks for a 12oz margarita is way too much by anyone's standards) Probably won't be coming back.

Superior Grill is by far the greatest Mexican food I have ever had in my entire 25 years of living. Many people come here for the margaritas, don't get me wrong those are beyond excellent too but the food is what stood out the most to me (even sober!) My best friend flew into the Shreveport airport on Thursday and it was a straight shot from the airport to Superior - but we did have to go through the bad part of the town to get to the restaurant from the airport. I have heard stories about this place being jammed pack on the weekends, well that certainly was the case on a Thursday as well. We sat in the bar area, which had a live band playing. I wasn't really a fan of the live band they were TOO loud and I could barely talk over them to my friend or listen to her speak. We sat awkwardly watching the Bears game and listening the band play for majority of the time. Wait service was superb! Our waiter was very friendly he even went out of his way to put an extra shot of tequila in our margaritas that were strong to begin with. WOWZA! Big mistake - one margarita will get you good, and hit hard when you least expect it. Everybody raves about the queso at this place - keep in mind that they offer two queso's, one in a bowl and one in a skillet (or something). The queso in the bowl is the one that the waiter recommended. This queso definitely has a kick to it, but it is so good. If your a cheese lover like myself, I encourage you to try it. I ordered the medium quesadilla - I think they offered two choices a medium and a large. I could totally be wrong on this - I do not remember. I can say that the medium portion size was plenty! I dipped the quesdilla in the queso and it was soo yummy. Usually most places skimp on the steak pieces, but Superior did not! I had steak falling out of the sides!! Hands down the best Mexican restaurant.

Food is ok. Way overpriced as others here have mentioned. I can get a better meal at Chuy's in Texas for 2/3 the price of this place. For example, $22.95 for Chicken Fajitas??? And they served my margarita in a styrofoam cup! Service was very slow on our visit too. Sat for 8 minutes before our waiter acknowledged our presence. After that initial frustration, he did a good job though. Locals love this pace but I attribute that to lack of choices for good Mex food here.

I am from out of state, and a co-worker who use to live in the area suggested Superior Grill. I went to Superior Grill for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent and cheerful. I had the lunch special burrito with fajita grilled beef, rice and beans. I will definitely come back while I am in the area.

I've always enjoyed this place even though it's a "see and be seen" place to a certain extent...2 words if you stop in: Crazy Javier!! Had this during my most recent stop and it was outstanding as always!! However, I was highly disappointed in that they no longer carry Sol cerveza...I was crushed!! In the evenings it can turn into a bit of a meat market at the bar area and out on the covered patio...but hey that's cool, if that's what you're looking for...great food, good times and talk a little smack to some lovelys if you want....1 stop shop so to speak! They have live music on the covered patio on the weekends and I figure if you stop in of an evening you'll have a great time and a great meal... Oh yeah the consensus is the 'ritas ROCK!!!

This is the party spot in Shreveport. Of all 4 locations, this location has the best food--specifically the queso! I would only give the Baton Rouge location 2-3 stars. It's mostly trashy people and food is not good. I've only been to B'ham once so not enough to review. Nola is 4-stars. Great atmosphere, solid food. But, Shreveport outshines all of them. I live in Nola today, but I always make it a point to get to superior if I'm in town.

This place is hit or miss. They have some good food but that is normally not food on the menu. I use to go every Sunday with a group. But the food started making us sick. So we left, went again late last night for a drink. One Margarita and my bill was 20 bucks. That is more than one will cost you in NYC and DC combined. Same margarita a mile away is 5 bucks, I was livid at the sight of that bill. This is not NYC or DC. They need to get off their high horse and focus on keeping the food good and not the prices of their drinks. Will not be returning for awhile.

I have eaten at this Superior Grill three times, at least. The service and food are consistent. The waiters are very efficient, but not friendly unless you are a regular. They are unfriendly, really, to the point of being rude, at times. I do not like abrupt waiters, and, if one of the waiters needs to take a chair from my table, I would appreciate at least a word, rather than just jerking the chair away. I have been tempted to leave no tip and do leave a minimum tip because of the attitude of the waiters. Be friendly and get a large tip. I want to leave a large tip unless you force me not to. There is a very small dining room, so at busy times, there can be a considerable wait. However, there is a large area to eat in the bar where you can just seat yourself. I have never tried that so I cannot report on how that experience would be. In the dining room, tables are close and there is a constant bustle and pushing against your table the entire meal. This makes for a very unpleasant dining experience. I am always afraid the hustling food runners will spill their heavily laden trays. And, customers are constantly walking by and brushing up against you. Noise level is extreme. The food is good and ours has always been served piping hot. I have had to do a little begging to get more chips and drink refills, but not much. I think for the level of prices at this restaurant, the service is really good. You will not get a bad meal. This restaurant is a bit of a drive from I-20, so, at busy times, you will end up losing about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the meal and excursion from your total travel time. But, at less busy times, not so much. The parking lot is pretty large. We have never had a problem finding a place to park.

We heard many good things about this place, so after being here for 4 years, my husband and I decided that it's about time to visit. It's always hard to find a parking spot. Now I think about it, there were at least two or three different occasions that we were going to try and then went somewhere because we could not find parking. The place is pretty spacious and busy. We went there for Thursday night and the place was Packed! We sat at the bar and it had pretty fun and lively atmosphere. We had fish taco and beef fajita. Fajita was very well cooked but so under- seasoned with not much flavor. The fish taco was OK. We've had much better Mexican food before. Maybe we expected too much from this place given highly rated reviews. The food was OK and it was a bit too loud after our one hour and 15 minutes stay. I wouldn't mind going there again but it's not a place that I would crave for.

I found myself driving at 30mph down 1-20 at 3am, wanna know what happened? Superior's margaritas are what happened! They will kick you in the butt and they go down easy, so beeee careful! They are always HOPPIN' on the weekends with a long wait, it's loud and crowded...but I like that sort of thing, so if you don't - beee warned. You can hardly walk through the bar area. Been eating here since the 80's but I've never ordered anything other than the shrimp and beef fajitas...they're what I come here for. Well, that and the margaritas.

First visit was excellent! Pepito M. was our server and he was wonderful and full of personality. I ordered fajita tacos and they were the best I've had. My husband had a chicken dinner (can't remember the name) that was tasty. I also ordered a 22oz frozen margarita to occupy me during the hour wait and then one more for the road. $15 margaritas but they are worth it. We will be back next time we are in La.

5 stars for taste 3 stars for pricing ($13.00 for a salad with black beans instead of meat...?) 1.5 stars for service Surprisingly the average of these scores actually equal out to around 3 stars, but 3 just seemed right to me as I walking out of this restaurant... I went here with a friend who has been going here for several years. We went around 4:30pm because apparently trying to get a table after 5:30pm makes for about a 2-hour wait on the weekends. When we stepped in the doors it took less than a minute to get seated and we were almost immediately served warm chips, a PITCHER of salsa and dipping cups for each of us. The two of us ordered a taco salad with beans, a side of rice, side of tortillas (which are complimentary when asked for), a mesquite chicken salad, and a mango margarita. Everything was delicious and over-filling, which accounts for the 5 stars. So, why the 3 for overall score? Really, really poor service. When I asked for beans instead of meat on my salad, I got a disgusted look from our waiter and no audible response. When I asked him again if it was ok, he just shook his head no with the look of disgust still on his face... like, I'm sorry if that sounds gross to you, but I would just like to know if it's possible to do. I eventually got my dang salad with beans on top, and it was great. My biggest problem with our waiter? He made both my friend and I extremely uncomfortable: he would linger around and lean onto our chairs when we clearly wanted to be left alone, he was being overly flirtatious, and at one point he blatantly looked straight at my chest. He legitimately bent over to stare directly at my chest before turning around and walking away. DISCLAIMER: I do not have a very large chest, never have, so I am hyper aware when anyone takes the time to look at it, because, frankly, it rarely happens. IT HAPPENED tonight, and I was NOT happy. food is great. That waiter needs a serious talking to or a slap in the face.

Very disappointed. My husband and I use to visit Superior often when we lived here 20 years ago. We came for a visit with our daughter since she is a foodie just like we are. Food was just mediocre. Very poor service with bartender, hostess, and the waiter. I would have left but I didn't want to drive and wait somewhere else again since we already waited an hour on a Monday night! We had to ask several times to get items and make sure our order was complete. I had to get my own chips and salsa while at the bar. After asking the hostess and our waiter for flatware I had to get that myself also. My daughter ordered chicken fajitas and I had to ask the waiter for her rice and soup which comes with her meal. The only thing extra she asked for was sour cream. Can't believe that was $1.75 extra. Food was barely warm, must have been sitting in the window waiting to be picked up. The staff was like transformers breaking down the tables. Very loud. Never realized till tonight how very limited their menu is. Guess I'm just to Dallas Tex-Mex. Wish we had selected something else for $60 for 3 people for MEXICAN food. If I could give a 2 1/2 I would. 2 for food and 1/2 for service.

Ok, um, I'm sorry and I must say this hurts me more than it's going to hurt you, but I have to take this place down a notch or two for the following reason: I'm being priced out of the market here. I love this place and I forever will. I am emotionally attached to it, I really am (read my previous love letter-er, review here on Yelp) but my most recent visits here at lunch (and really, always and almost exclusively at lunch) have revealed to me one undeniable truth, and that is that this place is getting too expensive for my middle class blood. Here's Exhibit A, that I'd like to file into evidence: The Crazy Javier, my little 8 oz sirloin, that I used to order EVERY Saturday for years! It is now (slap me in the face) NINETEEN DOLLARS!!!! $19! FOR LUNCH! 8 oz. LUNCH FOR ONE!!!!! I used to think it was called Crazy because it was Crazy Good! Now, I know ol' Javier would hafta be loco-crazy to pay 19 dollars for 8 oz of meat!!!! And now for Exhibit B, my fallback order for yeeeeears, when I just wasn't "in the mood for a Javier this week", the "La Vaca Pinta A La Plancha" which also weighs in at 8 oz, this a butterfly skirt steak, rings up at....TWENTY DOLLARS!!!! $20...FOR LUNCH!!!!...FOR ONE!!!!! Okay, it's $19.50 before tax and tip, but I'm calling it 20 bucks!!!!!...Wow. What had happened to us?...We were doing so well. And then you went and got all expensive on me. I remember the days when both dishes were under ten dollars a piece, and it wasn't that long ago! Somewhere along the way, Superior Bar and Grill became Superior Steakhouse, without letting us regular folk know....When I have to pay more, I become alot more critical of what I am eating. I don't think the food here at lunch is worth that type of coin. What once was an every Saturday afternoon thing for the longest, then became, like a quarterly thing, and has now become a birthday thing, like twice a year. If the prices continue to rise, much as I hate to say it, it might become a never thing.Twenty dollars per person (at minimum) on a casual Saturday, makes it casual no longer, now it has become much more formal! At least formal for people like me and of my ilk.

Believe or not, this was a recommendation of someone at the SHV airport - I only verified it by looking here. I would call it a rip-off of Pappasito's, but it seems this place has been here for some time and holds it's own. We went on a Tuesday night at 7pm and we had to wait for a table. I doubt many places would have been this busy. The place was filled with everyone from families to college kids to out of town businessmen like us. The service was very good and the atmosphere was fun and noisy. I had shrimp brochette and honestly do not know how one person can eat that much food. The chips are just like Pappasitos, however they were cold. The salsa is also cold and very tomato-y, not at all like P-sito's warm salsa with lots of spicy things. But overall, we were pleased - especially for a Tuesday. Prices were reasonable. If it is this busy on a Tuesday, I would imagine weekends are really too busy.

for the uninitiated, it may be hard to understand how this place became THE destination in shreveport. really, nearly any visit to s'port includes a meal at superior. for locals, creatures of habit, they just keep going and going. the menu offerings are not consistent and I have experienced disappointment and pleasure; I've had some bad fish tacos and so-so enchiladas and some ok fajitas and some OK enchiladas and some good fajitas. the margaritas are a bit sweet. but this all goes back to the mid eighties when this first place opened, they had this amazing happy hour free food buffet. you got 2-4-1 drinks and a full meal from that buffet. and there have been bad times too; once I had too many of those potent margaritas asked somebody drive my car; he drove it through a wall, or like the time some girl threw up on me and my 2 yo daughter on their patio, on our food and in our drinks. I asked the mngr to replace the food and drinks and he gave me a bunch of attitude about how it wasn't SUPERIOR"S fault some extremely drunk stranger ralphed on me.... really! or the time we nearly had a fist fight over a table we'd been waiting on for 15 minutes when some mullet sporting dude ran in and claimed it, and the restaurant told it was now his table b/c he TOUCHED it first. some real wild west moments happening there. superior can treat their patrons like cattle and they will still line up to get in. take the good with the bad, that is the power of nostalgia. in reality, I'd give this place 2.5 stars, I have had MUCH better, but I keep going back like salmon returning to their place of birth, an instinct you can't really deny.

I love Superior Grill. It is one of my favorite Mexican places. The Margaritas are awesome. The Food is great. The fajitas are my favorite. The wait is always long. They are always crowded so get there early. Service is always top notch. Some of the best Tex Mex on Earth!

The restaurant looked and smelled really good and gives off a great aura. The service was quick and friendly and the best part of the restaurant has got to be the chips and salsa. The chips were hot n cripsy right out of the fryer with a hint of salt which made them taste amazing. The salsa came in some sort of orange juice jar and was delicious as well. For dinner i ordered the mesquite grilled quail which was amazing. The quail had a tremendous amount of flavor and tasted like its been marinated pretty well. At first I devoured my first piece in no time but after half of the second piece i was over it. Id recommend the quail for an appetizer but it just didn't satisfy me for an entre. Id recommend the fajitas or maby the steak/fish for entre if i had to do it again.

Definitely a place for the up and coming Cougar to try to sink their teeth into the young-uns after a few pomegranate margaritas. I had a blast watching a late 50ish lady with her newly cut and colored hair grinding up on some dude on the small dance floor in the patio area, all the while trying to keep her fake boobs from popping out of her blue tube top. Oh, and the food is pretty good too...if expensive. REALLY expensive for Mexican food.

Their Margaritas are the best I have ever had and I rate all others against them. The food is good, don't get me wrong, but the Margaritas are awesome. When visiting family I try to get there but have not been successful lately. I so wish that I could find the recipe on line so that I can make for my friends up here the best margaritas ever.

I have been coming to Superior for nigh on 30 years now and I'm not sure why I've waited until now to review it. Oh well. This may be the best tex mex food in the world. Just about everything on the menu is great. I am partial to the steak tampiqueno, beef queso fleado and cheese enchiladas. The flavor and quality of the food is consistantly outstanding. The scenery is usually top notch (although it has slid precipitously over the past 10 years). You can count on a high hottie-factor most of the time. The service ranges from adequate to inconsistent with an occasional dose of arrogance. Sometimes I get the feeling they think that if I don't like something, there's somebody willing to take my seat. They used to have a veteran hispanic crew who were efficient and entertaining but that has changed over the years. The service issues do not dampen the food experience. I sometimes find an excuse to drive 60 miles to shreveport just so I can eat at Superior. It is that good and has been that way for decade

Great margaritas and mingling place, but the food really isn't good. If you go, go for drinks and get-togethers, but you would be better off to grab taco bell on the way home.

A colleague and I were visiting a supplier in Arkansas but decided to stay in Shreveport. A local that we met at the airport recommended this place. We went on a Tuesday night around 9 PM, and it was nearly empty. We ordered the grilled chicken, steak & shrimp fajitas. I also ordered a side of guacamole. They serve Mexican rice and soup prior to the meal, and boy was it oh so good. The soup is freshly made and just delicious. The rice was really good also and not too salty. I ended up getting more rice when they served the entree. I heard the lovely sizzling and noticed the big portions. The waiter enticed me when he said the chicken is marinated for 12 hours, and he was totally on point. The chicken was even better than the beef and shrimp. It was so moist and grilled to perfection. My colleague bit into the chicken, closed her eyes and quietly danced at the table. There you go. Try it out...I think they called it Three Amigos or something like that. Hold off on the guac as it was just 'eh".

Very good food and the drinks were awesome. Better get there early because the place fills up fast. We had an over hour wait time.

I grew up in Shreveport so Superior was always a staple. I moved away 8 years ago and must say I am really disappointed after our visit today. We had reservations and still had to wait an hour to be seated. The real disappointment was the food. We ordered appetizers and they didn't come out until the main courses did (35 minutes later). I had a beef taco salad. The beef was almost cold and the shell was stale. The lettuce was partially wilted. Some of our table didn't get served until an hour into the meal. It's pretty bad when the food makes taco bell sound appealing. They were a disappointment today.

Yes, definitely a fan. It is one of our favs in the Shreveport-Bossier area. We have been going there for years and it has been consistently good. Crawfish enchiladas are my favs. Parking can be tight, but be patient and something will open up. Check to see if the patio is open and enjoy live music (when available). Wait staff is busy but attentive.

I was told that this was "the scene" in shreveport. total zoo on a friday night. Alot of hustle bustle and a lot of fun. Took bar seating cuz i didn't want to wait and it was definitely packed. Bartender was very attentive and was ahead of the curve for refills and clearing plates. The nachos they give u are monster. They were thin like potato chips and very tasty. Food portions are fit for an american diet. I had the crawfish enchiladas which were great. They're famous for their drinks but I had to stick with diet coke. If you somehow end up in shreveport in your travels, make this one of your stops.

Fish Tacos. Yum! Okay, I'm usually slammed for rating places too low or being too critical, but I'm giving this place a five. I realize that this place has a stigma for being a hangout or a pickup joint. For that reason, I think I didn't give this place a chance for the longest time. I've gotta say though, the food is good. These are perhaps some of the better fish tacos I've had. The smokey flavor from the grill combined with the sweetness of the corn tortilla. Delicious. Okay, my trip to central Mexico is unparalleled when it comes to Mexican food, but I really enjoy Superior Grill when it comes to Mexican food in Shreveport. It might not be fine food, but if you take it for what it is, it is quite flavorful and consistent. The service has also been very quick whenever I've been, despite the crowd.

Love this place! Great food, great service, great margaritas! Fun for groups. Gets a little crowded on some nights, but still fun. Would recommend for locals and out-of-towners.

I went here with four business associates for dinner. I'll have to say that we were fore warned that it would be busy, and they were correct. the place was crowded and LOUD, to the point that it was difficult to carry on a conversation. However, I will say that the food was very good and the service was good as well. The prices, while a little high for what you, seems to be in line with the rest of the area. This is a bar and grill, so keep that in mind. Overall it is a good place.

This place is always crowded, and parking is a bitch. The way the tables are set up inside doesn't make it very easy to navigate around the restaurant. It's got a very noisy atmosphere and there is sometimes a band that plays on the patio. At first it can seem a little intimidating, but it's not that bad if you have good company and just have fun. For the longest time I detested coming here, simply because it's so noisy and I don't like going places that are crowded. It makes me slightly uncomfortable. After I got over the initial dislike, it wasn't bad. The food is better than many Mexican joints in the area, and offer some pretty interesting stuff. The Quesidillas Negras and Blue Nachos are my favorite. This is a very popular place in the city, and have seen some celebs come through while they're in the town working on a movie. The staff is great, but that might be because they know us; nevertheless they're very friendly and nice (if you have a good sense of humor. A waiter once brought me a kid's menu as a joke.) They offer a full bar, and people will crowd here during games. I see the occasional drunken idiot hanging around outside, but don't worry...there's always cop cars in the parking lot. On weekends, the wait for a table can be a bit long, but on holidays it's ridiculous. If you love quiet, don't go here. If you can stand people, this place is great.

omg...this by far has the best mexican food i've had in a while...we arrived for a 30 minute wait...the place was packed on a sat night...now i see why...our table had quesadillas, tacos & 2 diff kinds of fajitas...we all left satisified & stuffed lol...the margaritas were strong as hell but good...i see why everyone in the place had a cup lol...the 1 busboy that was working his azz off...kudos to you...he had the table set up b4 the hostess seated the guest!!

I have been here many times. Crawfish enchiladas, crawfish quesadillas, blue corn stacked chicken enchiladas (very spicy) are all very good. However, the margaritas frozen (especially during happy hour for a large) are amazing as well as the marinated skirt steak, which if you can not finish it is great as a homemade breakfast taco the next morning. Come for happy hour and stay for dinner any night of the week.

Cold Drinks, Hot Plates, and a Happening Social Scene. It is a long wait for a table here, but the bar is good. This place has lost some of its aura with a large expansion, so get a table in the main dining room in order to enjoy the full experience. An East Texan Reunion every time I go. So although some places are more authentic, it won't disappoint on a medium to more expensive night out in Shreveport.

Went on a Thursday night with a group of 16 and sat on the patio. Great service, live music, delicious food. Guacamole, queso dip, crawfish quesadilla, chicken enchilada: it was all scrumptious. Mixed demographics were dining. Families, 20 somethings, older couples, etc. Prices tend to be in the higher-mid range but we kept it under $300 for all of us.

This is one happening place to come on a Friday or Saturday night. The parking lot was packed as soon as we arrived. There was even a cop standing watch for potential drunk drivers. Upon walking into the restaurant, we noticed there were several bachelorette and birthday parties going on. A band was playing in the adjacent bar area. They were good. They played a lot of disco/80s music. While waiting for our table, our group was entertained by the LSU football game in progress against Alabama. The game had been tied twice, so it was an exciting victory for all the LSU fans. A woman from one of the bachelorette parties came up to us looking for a man older than 60 to dance with her. It was part of some game. One of my uncle's there obliged and twirled her around a few times. The place is very noisy. It's one of those kinds of places that you go to celebrate a birthday, bachelor, or bachelorette parties. So be prepared to have to yell at each other to at least hear what the other people in your party are saying. I would say that this place is more of a Southern version of Mexican food. On the menu they offer brisket tacos and crawfish enchiladas. I ordered the crawfish enchiladas. I thought they were tasty, but not very spicy. I had to add some salsa and suiza sauce to them before they tasted halfway spicy. Also, when ordering, my dad had asked the waiter if chili verde was on the menu. The waiter at first thought my dad was asking about suiza sauce. Then when my dad described what chili verde was, the waiter asked if my dad was from California. He told the waiter that he was from the west, but not from California. The waiter replied that this isn't the west and that "You're in the South now." So I guess that was a no on chili verde. I was shocked that the waiter had no idea what this dish was. I mean, this is a staple at many Mexican restaurants. Superior Grill is known for their frozen margaritas. One of my cousin's ordered one so we could try it. Let me tell ya, this is one awesome frozen margarita. Many blended margaritas aren't that strong and so you have to order it on the rocks because at least that way you'll taste the alcohol a lot better. Well, this place makes a frozen margarita perfectly. The best part about it, is that you can order it in a to go cup. That's right people. You can order an alcoholic drink to go in this state. As long as the lid is taped down, it's considered a closed container. Can you believe it?! I wasn't exactly all that thrilled with this place. It's nothing to really write home about (well at least it's Yelpworthy). If I visit Shreveport again, I don't think I'd come here again. Or if I did, it would be for the frozen margaritas and the chips and salsa (which could be spicier - it was a bit bland for me).

Guess it had to happen. I've gone to over 100 restaurants relying only on yelp ratings. This place deserves 2 stars max not 4. Staff is unfriendly. OK. The food will be good. Margaritas are rated awesome...uh no. Some people like limey margaritas, some people less so. These were terrible, way too strong! If you want tequila to dominate a drink, just have a shot. Salsa should not remotely resemble Pace picante sauce! This did. OK switch to queso. Not sure what that was. Never seen this in Mexico, Texas, NM or California. Clumpy queso? Cuidado! Had the El Paso plate because it gives you different varieties. Ugh! Did not know you could put too much masa in a tamale. Plate was overly greasy. Taco el carbon, OK. Hard to ruin brisket and tortilla though. Enchiladas better at fast food restaurants. No offense to those who rate this place high. Either I came on a really bad night or being in Shreveport you've never had great traditional, Tex or Cal Mex. Trust me I hate giving a bad review, but this food was not good.

What a joke. Totally overpriced. The kicker was the snotty attitude by the 'barkeeper' Andrew C. Learn some manners if you want To pretend to be a 'professional' telling a out of towner 'the beer selection is up there' does not cut it.

Good Food.

So.. it was my first time there so I am sure I will be updating this review periodically..

I've been here a number of times and it's one of the better tex-mex restaurants in the area. People in Shreveport can't get enough of this place...

Yes the margaritas are strong and there are Cougars everywhere. But this place is overhyped and not worth the fuss. The last time we were here a huge beetle walked out of my wife's salad and the waiter couldn't care less. The time before that there was a long hair in my enchilada.

I love Superior Grill. It is one of my favorite Mexican places. The Margaritas are awesome. The Food is great. The fajitas are my favorite. The wait is always long. They are always crowded so get there early. Service is always top notch. Some of the best Tex Mex on Earth!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
